The other clan's scents were found all over the border, seemingly emboldened by last night's event. The patrol discovers one apprentice-aged stranger hunting near their border and they manage to corner him long enough for him to explain what was going on. The tom says that his clan was called FlameClan. They arrived at the area after a famine that forced them out of their old territory. Before they could ask more questions, the rest of his hunting patrol show up and a fight breaks out despite Cloudstar's best attempts at diplomacy. There were no casualties as the rival patrol fled quickly but it leaves Cloudstar with much to think about. They stay near the border for longer, wanting to see if they could talk to FlameClan's leader or deputy.

As per agreed, Flamestar and Cloudstar meet the next day. It seems he agrees to their terms and says that it will take them some time to settle but they promise not to overstep their bounds in the meantime. They continue talking about territory divisions, specifically about neutral grounds for a gathering place and where they can commune with StarClan. Cloudstar has hopes that this will be a peaceful new era in the land, now with two clans instead of just one.

With the full moon only a few days away, Cloudstar lists a small group of cats to represent FrostClan. Notably, Perilstrike asks to stay behind, wary that FlameClan might try and attack their camp while the others are at the gathering. Cloudstar tries to reassure him that any Clan cat would honor the full moon truce and that her deputy should be present at their first gathering, but the former rogue doesn't want to take any chances and insists on staying behind. She allows Foxfoot and Weaseltooth to come as the Clan's newest warriors, but reminds them that they are warriors now and need to behave as such.

FlameClan arrives as well, led by Patchstar and his deputy leading the bunch. The deputy seems a bit haughty seeing as Perilstrike was not present and some can overhear a group of FlameClanners complain about Perilstrike's absence after Cloudstar tried to hard to paint them as noble. Sundapple and Toadpaw meet FlameClan's medicine cat, only hardly 8 moons old. She tries asking if they had a mentor but apparently they died on the journey here. Sundapple sees herself in the young cat and offers to meet for herblore training sessions, if Patchstar and Cloudstar would allow it.

(light x chestnut is cute! i was actually going to pair them together but i was thinking first of who would be a good surrogate mom if they ever had kits within the clan)
Moleclaw knows that his limp hinders his abilities as a warrior however he isn't ready to retire. He wants to train an apprentice before he does. He asks Cloudstar to consider him a mentor for Berrykit. It is a big ask to train the leader's kit but he wants to prove that he can do it.

After discovering dog scent and a partially eaten rabbit carcass close to their borders, the clan finds that a dog has escaped from the twolegplace and has began to wander near their land. Newttail is inconsolable after the death of Dawnpaw and Lightshower is incredibly guilty at not being able to save him. Cloudstar bans all but the warriors from leaving camp in the meantime while she and Perilstrike try to come up with a plan to chase the dog away. They were afraid of it traveling deeper into their territory or heading into FlameClan's instead.

(I gotchu. Also YES to the Light/Chestnut!! As soon as I was looking thru what cats hadn't gotten many mentions yet, I knew I wanted to give Lightshower a good arc
I also rolled some dice for this fight and I ALMOST wanted Lightningstrike to sacrifice himself to save Newttail, but she rolled well enough that it wasn't necessary.)
Perilstrike leads the patrol against the dog, along with Lightningblaze, Violetfrost, Foxtooth, Lightshower and Newttail. They track the beast for a while and manage to surprise it, and while it is bigger than they expect and fights brutally, Foxtooth gets atop its back and manages to wound it severely enough that it collapses. Newttail, still fraught with grief, continues to attack it's neck and eventually kills it, though she was bitten many times in the process. The patrol is successful, although Newttail is badly injured, Perilstrike's shoulder is badly bitten, and all the others are left with varying injuries and scrapes that should heal. Foxtooth's ear was shredded in the fight; a battle scar the young warrior is proud of.

The clan is pretty shaken up from the dog situation, and every cat is wary. Perilstrike’s shoulder wound has become infected, although Sundapple assures the clan that everything will be fine. Lightingblaze spends most of his free time with Newtail, who has been staying in the medicine cat den until her wounds heal.

Fernspots has two kits: Mosskit and Greykit. The birth was a little premature and both kits were smaller than normal, but Daisyspeckle reassures Sundapple and aids the younger medicine cat through the difficult birth and care of the kits, having gone through a premature birth when she was a medicine cat apprentice.
