》》 IC 《《 Ezekiel gasped as the spider was knocked away by the force of Victor's spell, leaving the boy lying on the ground. He needed to move…had to move…but he couldn't find the strength. His side pulsed with horrible pain, his ripped shirt stained red with blood, and all the energy seemed to have left him completely. He was still in danger, as more spiders were crawling their way, and he knew if stayed there, it wouldn't end well for him. Yet he still couldn't manage to move. However, his luck seemed to finally look up a bit.
"Zeke!" Julian yelled, sweaty and covered in dirt. He looked tired, yet he didn't seem to care, as he picked Ezekiel up gently but quickly. He carried his brother as he ran and, when he reached Victor, he gave his shoulder a small nudge. "Go!"

Victor smiled as the spider went flying. A tiny thrill of victory formed, but was sweep away by another cry. He looked towards Zeke and took a second to pull together the details. He took a small step forward before his sibling picked the boy up. If he wasn't about to fall on his face, he would have thanked the other male. Right now, he had the energy to nod and follow instructions. He took one last look around to find the Professor was finally walking up the hill and blasting the spiders. Victor even registered the rage contained in her sharp eyes as she struck each beast. He turned and retreated before the Professor could make it up. Victor stumbled after Julian, barely holding his wand in his hand. Never again did he want to go through that. If he saw another spider again, it would be too soon. He sighed as they reached the castle. By now, the nurse was there and the headmaster was storming out to the hill. "Hey." Victor waved to the nurse then looking at Zeke. It was about as much as he could do. His cuts and limbs were starting to throb with pain and he really wanted to sit down. Some part of him wanted to make sure his friend was safe and healed, but the other part of him shut down that thought. Victor leaned against a stone wall and sighed again.

》》 IC 《《 Ezekiel was sobbing in Julian's arms, the pain almost unbearable to someone like him, who wasn't a fighter and had never experienced anything like it. He was clutching onto Julian, digging his fingers into his brother's arm.
As the nurse made her way over, Julian let the older woman take his brother from him.."I'll be back, Zeke," Julian told him, still panting, and even as his crying brother reached for him, he shook off his hand. "I'll…just…you'll be fine, okay? The nurse will take good care of you, I promise." He had to go help some of the students who still hadn't made it up-----Ezekiel would be safe with the nurse and Victor, but those students needed help. Julian was quick to stand up and hurry back down the hill.
Ezekiel was almost panicking as he turned his head to look at his side, the wound looking awful and still bleeding. He let out a quiet whimper, head falling back onto the floor. Victor was nearby, and desperate for comfort, Ezekiel reached a hand out to him.

Victor hauled himself upright. He did stumble and almost fall, but he managed to move, slowly. Each step was a strain and his muscles protested at each moment. Victor couldn't stop. Zeke needed comfort and honestly, Victor did too. He needed someone to be next to him just so he could be grounded. He wanted to remember that everything was going to be okay. This was just a freak accident. They were all safe now and most importantly, his friend was safe and alive. Victor leaned against the wall and slide down. He huffed when he landed. He held onto Zeke's hand.
"Let's never do that again, okay?" He said with a light joking tone. he tried to add a smile, but he couldn't manage to move his face too much. Maybe he had some kind of odd half-smile on.

The Gemini Twins ;; Cassiopeia Maia Aten && Kale Pollux Aten
Cassiopeia managed to blast the spider about 13 feet away from her (she was really angry, and mainly afraid, honestly) before pulling herself up a bit with her good arm, using her good leg to push herself up, earning her more scrapes and bruises as she went. She huffed, glancing around as she heard her name called, blasting spiders back, before pushing herself up higher, waving her good arm at Bion with a shout. "Bion! I'm here!" she yelled, turning and blasting another spider back, pushing herself towards the boy now, fighting hard to stay awake, lungs burning from exertion and the pain that was increasing where the venom from the spider bites began to set in.
Kale squinted down at the field, watching as students continued to scramble up from seemingly nowhere, none of them his sister, and teachers drove the spiders deep in the woods. He saw Bion go down, and began to make his way down to the boy, pushing through the throng of spiders and students, praying his sister was close. He swore he heard her voice, but he still could not see her, and only made his panic worse, spells firing more rapidly and aggressively now as he searched fervently.

He was so exhausted and in so much pain-----the nurse was doing as good of a job as she could, but it took a long time before a bit of the pain began to fade. It wasn't much, and his side still hurt so bad, but it was better. He held onto his friend's hand the entire, not feeling embarrassed for needing the comfort at the moment. Later, he would no doubt feel flustered about it, but right now he was too shaken up to really care about his usual shyness. "I-----I think…I'll l-l-leave the fighting…to everyone…else," he whispered, quiet and out of breath. No fighting for him, since he clearly couldn't even handle a situation like this.

Bion ran up to Cass. The first thing he noticed was her lack of energy, which lead him to the wound. He smothered what might have been a gasp. He didn't think it was possible for the body to contain so much blood. All the other students were nowhere near as bad as she was. His trembling hands reached for his wand. He desperately searched his mind for a spell. Anything that would help was out of his mind now. Not when he had to keep looking around for spiders. He felt a flicker of frustration grow in his worry. There were too many spiders and too much blood for him to think clearly. They had to get back to the castle. "We have to get back to the castle. You're wounded. You can't fight like this." He said trying to be stern. Sadly, his voice cracked. His words sounded like a plea. "I'll help support you as we head to the castle. That way you can keep slinging those spells." He waited, not wanted to surprise the girl by suddenly reaching out.
His eyes found Kale in one of his glances. "Kale! Behind you!" He called. Bion would need someone to help carve a path. He doubted Cass would last much longer. As strong as the girl was, he doubted anyone in the school would question her strength after today, there was too much blood.
---
Victor nodded, which was basically moving his head a fraction downwards. "Never suspected Hogwarts would be this exciting. I thought this was just a dark castle. I did not think there would be crazy shows. You really went all out, didn't you?" This time, Victor summoned up enough energy to laugh and then look at Zeke. That was a mistake. He groaned as a spike of pain shot through his muscles. He might have not been bitten, but he used too much energy and tried to twist out of too many spiders' ways. He would have thought walking around a massive castle would have made him more athletic. Guess not. "I quit for the next week, at least. I'm laying in my bed and sleeping. Don't worry, I'm sure the nurse will force you to stay down. You can catch up on books." Now, that he thought about it, Victor was chatty. He decided to blame it on the nerves. he was finally out of the battle, but worried about his friend. Worry without any distraction made him chatty. He needed a distraction from the pain.

》》 IC 《《 "Reading all day…s-s-sounds…nice." Ezekiel was more than happy to listen to Victor chat and talk away, finding the familiar sound of his friend's voice rather comforting. It was a good distraction from all the pain he was feeling and from the slight fear that still lingered in his mind. The nurse was doing her best to be gentle, and to do her job correctly, but Ezekiel could tell she was having a hard time. Something wasn't right-----the Ravenclaw boy could just feel it, from the way his body ached and shivered, to how cold and clammy his hand was in Victor's. "Th-thank you…for helping me," he murmured softly to the boy, giving him one of his rare smiles. It was still sweet, though certainly not as bright. Ezekiel was still having hard time speaking through his quick, labored breaths, but he wanted to let Victor know how grateful he was. Some people might have left him behind, friend or not, and Victor coming back meant a lot to him.
That bad feeling Victor had was confirmed when the nurse waved another woman down, quickly and frantically. The two talked for a moment in quiet, worried voices. Ezekiel could barely make out the words, though he did make out a couple bits. "Allergic reaction" and "blood loss" were probably the most important, though in his tired, sleepy brain, it didn't really mean much.

The Gemini Twins ;; Cassiopeia Maia Aten && Kale Pollux Aten
Cassiopeia grinned up at Bion, grateful to see the boy's lovely face once more. She flapped her good hand lightly, wand clinging tightly to it, blood everywhere. "No, I'm fine, really! They're going to retreat soon, I think," she panted, glancing down and noticing fully for the first time how injured she truly was. She blinked, sobering a bit as she reached up, latching onto him, feeling her lungs start to constrict slightly. Cassiopeia knew she was allergic to bees, but did spiders count as "stinging" insects? She didn't want to find out. She let him help hoist her to her feet, crying out slightly as she put too much weight on her bad leg, rosy hue paling in her cheeks pretty rapidly. "Uhm, sorry," was all she said, glancing up to see Kale moving towards them.
Kale, as tall as he was, seemed to be merely floating through the chaos, the world dispelling around him with unseen force as he mumbled spell after protective spell, the bubble around him growing stronger as he went. Spiders were pushed back and students were pulled free as Kale moved towards his sister like a calm hurricane. Nothing could touch the quick tongued boy. Except, maybe his wounded sister. He gasped, spell shooting out violently as it left his lips, sprinting over to them without caring how foolish he looked, nearly stumbling. "Oh my gosh, Cass," he groaned, coming behind them as Cass fired from the front and Kale from the back, Cassiopeia limping badly and leaning hard against Bion (although she seemed to weigh only a few pounds, she was so light).
The twins managed to get them (and even a few other students) safely up to the castle. It was interesting to watch them work, Cassiopeia much more upfront, her left hand whirling wildly about in a chaotically good nature while her brother worked much more calmly, right hand making precise shapes and traces through the air, much quieter than her. When they were almost to the top, Cassie glanced back, face very pale and gray now, lungs burning and body starting to seize up with violent tremors at this point. By now, the headmaster had arrived and begun pushing the remaining stragglers back into the forest or into the castle, depending on species. She sighed a sigh of relief, hand falling as her leg gave out and her eyes started to roll back, the world growing fuzzy. Kale gasped, pushing her up from behind, grabbing her as she began to slip from Bion's grip. "Bion, I think she's fainted!" he exclaimed, supporting his sister with a faint grunt, still on the incline of the hill too far to be able to fully support her well, footing slipping in the loose dirt from all the chaos that had torn up the ground.

Victor squeezed Zeke's hand gently with worry etched on his face. He could tell his friend was getting worse rather than better. Despite Zeke's condition, Victor felt calm. He was sure magic wouldn't fail him now. It protected him against the spiders and it would help Zeke now. He was more worried about the pain. Victor could feel his wounds but they were only stinging. He could only imagine what his friend was going through. There was nothing he could do but try to distract the boy.Victor returned the smile with his own equally tired and weak smile. If he had the energy, he would have laughed. They were a mess. This was nothing like what today was suppose to be. Not like he could have stopped any of this, but he still felt upset. "You know us. The Gryffindors. Always brave and helpin' friends." Victor joked, slurring a bit. His attention was drawn to the nurse and her conversation. Her colleague made a small noise and frantically began searching through her bag. He caught snips of the nurses words and his stomach flopped. By her tone and the couple words he caught, this was nothing good. He struggled to piece the information together and come up with some sort of plan, but his mind quit. "You're okay." He said, reverting back to the only thing he could muster up energy to do. Later, he would feel useless with only words to offer, but right now, he didn't much care.
---
Bion huffed, amused, at the injured girl's apology. He was about to say something to the effect of it wasn't really her fault and blame the spider, but Kale's approach quickly caught his attention. He also realized his sass may not be welcomed at this moment. Supporting Cass would have to be his main job. Bion did nothing against the spiders. Determined not to feel useless, he started to mutter healing spells under his breath. He focused on Cass, but also directed some at Kale. It wasn't a matter of favoritism, but rather necessity and a bit of convenience. Cass was still bleeding after having lost much more blood than anyone should and, like any spell, healing spells had to be directed. It was hard for Bion to direct his wand behind himself. Sadly, he couldn't heal any of the major wounds unless they were standing still. Bion grunted as Cass suddenly turned into dead weight. It was more out of surprise than anything else. After all, she seemed like she was going strong, or as strong as a person could be with a giant bite. Plus, she almost seemed to weigh nothing. It wasn't really a struggle for the quidditch player to carry her. With the help of Kale, he lifted her up into his own arms. "Okay, you keep with the spells, but we might have to pick up the speed here." He said. The loose dirt didn't provide the best grip and had Bion almost stumbling at serval points. They did make it safely back to the castle where Bion set Cass down next to an equally injured boy. He then took out his wand. But he stopped. He didn't know if he should. he didn't want to mess anything up. If he sealed the wound, would the poison stay in? He didn't know. He looked around uselessly for a nurse.

》》 IC 《《 Ezekiel's body felt weak and cold, but he mustered up the strength to keep smiling at Victor. Such a good friend...his best friend...the best friend he'd ever had. Victor made him so happy, something he'd never thought such a loud and excitable person could ever be such a wonderful friend, but Victor had proven him wrong. Unaware of how bad his current situation was, he tried to stay awake even as he began to fall asleep, so he could keep talking. "You're...very brave," he murmured, as it was no surprise Victor had been put in Gryffindor. His eyes kept closing and he tried to keep them open, as difficult as it was, and his breathing hitched. "Such...a good...friend."
The first nurse fretted over Ezekiel for a moment, then shook her head to her colleague. They didn't have everything they needed here, they would have to move Ezekiel. "Find a stretcher, we'll take him to the Infirmary," she told the other woman, patting Ezekiel's cheek to try to keep him awake. "Stay awake, sweetie. You can't sleep yet." She turned her gaze to Victor as well, giving him a tight, worried smile. "Your friend will be fine, but he can't go to sleep, okay?"

The Gemini Twins ;; Cassiopeia Maia Aten && Kale Pollux Aten
Cassiopeia was out, body trembling from the bites, her case worse than some as she had not one but two. Bion's healing spells were helping a little, but there was only so much that could be done. She was pretty pale at this point, body shaking violently as she tried to wake up.
Kale helped Bion scoop her up, turning, helping Bion up the hill, back to back as he pushed the more muscular boy and his sister moving up the hill. "Bion, we need a nurse!" he panted as they pushed into the castle, Cass lying very still now. Not a good sign.
"Keep trying healing spells while I get the nurse! Don't close the wounds; that'll probably trap the venom. You might have to suck it out physically if she starts having trouble breathing," he said, frowning as he disappeared. Cassiopeia was taking soft, gasping breaths as it were, heart thundering in her chest as her body shut down, trying to heal itself as the venom fought to spread.

It took a second for the nurse's words to sink in. Victor turned a shade paler as he was realizing what was going on. His eyes snapped back to Zeke. The male's chest was still lifting, though slowly now. He had watched enough shows to know this wasn't good. Admittedly, they were very bad and he had only seen pieces, but this part was horrible. Victor bent over Zeke and shook his shoulder gently with the unoccupied hand. His other hand squeezed Zeke's hand. "Hey, hey. You need to help me with..." He took a second to think of something, "creatures! Yeah, I have a test." Panic had chased away the exhaustion. For those few seconds, he was wide awake. His eyes were wide and searching Zeke's face for any sign the male was still awake.
---
Bion blinked up at Kale. Suck out the venom? He couldn't do that! He didn't even know how to do that. It sounded self explanatory, but Bion didn't like to go off of that assumption. Besides, it might be dangerous to try to remove the venom that way. Who knows what germs he was carrying. Then again, death was far worse than a infection. An infection that might kill her. He went through several reasons and situations and still couldn't come to a conclusion. Bion then snapped out of his trace. he had only spent a few seconds thinking of the issue, but it had felt like minutes. He cursed at himself for getting so distracted. He looked down at Cass and bit his lip. For now, he decided he had to focus on the small wounds while applying pressure to the larger wound. It didn't take long for the male to run out of wounds. From her talent and his healing on the way here, there wasn't much to take care of. Bion cursed at himself for being so useless. He looked up desperately for Kale.

》》 IC 《《 A...test? Victor had a test he needed help with? "Yeah...okay..." Ezekiel slurred quietly, although he was so tired. He felt like he'd just stayed up all night-----which he had, actually-----and hadn't had more than a couple hours of sleep. It was...hard to breathe, his chest tight and his breaths short and slightly gasping. "What...kind of...creature?" His head flopped over limpy, dull and half-closed eyes trying to focus on Victor, but everything was so...blurry. He wanted to go to sleep. His friend needed help on his test, though, and who else would tutor him so well? Ezekiel couldn't let his friend fail.
As someone was bringing a stretcher over, the nurse and a 7th year Hufflepuff boy carefully and gently lifted Ezekiel up, supporting him beneath his arms and knees. They laid him on the stretcher as softly as they could, though they had to be quick about it. Once he was secured and there was a very small chance of him falling off, they lifted it up.
Ezekiel was still holding Victor's hand, weakly, and he made a small noise of protest as he was hefted away from the ground. He couldn't just...couldn't just leave, not yet. Victor needed help with his test, they needed to study... "Victor...?" He murmured, clinging onto his hand, refusing to let go despite how little strength he had left.

Victor struggled with coming up with an animal. Any magical creature would do, but all he could think about was spiders. Spiders that hurt Ezekiel and terrorized the students. Merlin, he didn't want to talk about spiders, ever. "Umm...I think it is on..." He stumbled, hoping it would come to him if he started. Nothing came to him. Great. He could feel frustration bubbling up inside him. He couldn't do anything could he? He couldn't protect his friend before and now he couldn't distract his suffering friend for a couple of minutes. Useless. He wallowed in his pent up distress until he felt Ezkiel's grip slip. His heart skipped a beat and his head whipped over to look at what he thought would be an unconscious Zeke. Luckily, this was not the case. Victor felt a flash of hope now that his friend was being transported. Still, he needed to be with him.
"No, no-no-no. I got it. Abraxan horses. That's it." He said, stumbling as he rose quickly. He squeezed Zeke's hand as their grip once again tightened. Victor's movement was lumbered and awkward as he walked after the stretcher. He could feel the questioning look from the Hufflepuff bore into him. However, he wouldn't stop. Keep Zeke wake, that was his goal. He needed to do this. The one way to keep the male awake was to talk about his beloved topic of creatures. "I know they stay in the fields at my school and we exclusively raise them. Did you know you can study in the same field they are raised? They provide great shade." His face then grew tight as he tried to come up with a question. He knew all about the horses. Perhaps he could ask a question he already knew the answer to? Yes, that would work. Teachers did that all the time. "I never saw them eating grass. What do they eat?"

The Gemini Twins ;; Cassiopeia Maia Aten && Kale Pollux Aten
Cassiopeia suddenly shuttered, gasping for air suddenly as she began heaving for air, spluttering, eyes fluttering.
Kale sprinted over, a nurse close behind. "It's the venom!" he exclaimed as the nurse got down, tearing open Cassiopeia's shirt to expose the wound, blocking her from sight.
The room began to quiet save for her breathing as she fought for air, gasping ans breathing labored. Kale shook like a leaf, hands clasped together and muttering as if he were praying. This continued for a few moments before she heaved a giant breath and went still. The nurse muttered something, and started pumping her chest. "I need backup!" she yelled, and another nurse flitted over.
Kale trembled harder, praying more fervently as they fought to get Cass's breathing regular again.

Bion quickly scrambled away for the nurse. He has done all he could. Now, he just had to sit on the sidelines. What sounded like a easy job, turned out to be a horrible wait. He had no one to pray to and nothing to do. He busied himself with pacing. The tangy taste of blood filled his mouth when he managed chew enough of his lip. It was disgusting, but Bion made no move to fix it. The small pain was a welcome distraction. He would take anything if it meant he could block out Cass's strangled gasps for breath and life. He even shut his eyes and tired to think of quidditch and classes. Anything normal to rid his mind of the horrible thing happening just a few feet away from him.
The heavy smell of blood and frantic sound of breathing echoing off the walls couldn't be ignored. Bion opened his eyes. He moved closer to Kale. Bion wasn't good with feelings. At least, facing them. Instead he gently placed his hand on Kale's shoulder. His eyes remained on the nurse, but he hoped the message was clear. I'm with you.

》》 IC 《《 Abraxan horses. Beautiful and ethereal, yet also so dangerous... Ezekiel had always wanted to pet one, or at least study them up close, and was saddened by the fact that he hadn't been able to. Today was supposed to be such a great day, but it had gone so horribly instead, and had left Ezekiel feeling awful and Victor exhausted. He tried to focus on Victor's face, his heavy eyelids drifting shut, no matter how much he fought to keep them open. "They... They eat-----" The Ravenclaw boy's words came out on slow, broken breaths-----he was shuddering violently, his clammy fingers grasping weakly at Victor's wrist. What did Abraxan horses eat? He knew the answer, but it seemed to be slipping his mind the more he chased after it. Merlin, he was so, so tired... "I can't-----" Ezekiel gasped, the pain making his head fuzzy.
The Hufflepuff boy swore quietly as they hurried through the hall, pushing past scared and confused students. Some gasped at the sight of Ezekiel's bloody form. Other than those few, it was mostly silent, an eerie, unnerving silence; the majority were more focused on that poor girl, whose luck seemed to be as bad as this kid's. "C'mon, kid, don't go to sleep," the boy told him gently, grimacing. "C'mon, keep talking. You like Abraxan horses, yeah? Tell yer friend all about 'em, he'd love to hear it."
But Ezekiel shook his head-----tried to, but it mostly just rolled limply from side to side-----gasping and coughing, hands weakly clutching at his side. He couldn't, he couldn't, it hurt, it hurt so bad, everything was spinning and he couldn't see or breathe and it was so cold. "Vic," he wheezed, unable to find him, his eyes wouldn't open.

Panic and fear, emotions he had come quite familiar with today, once against rose up as Zeke's voice grew weaker. He squeezed Zeke's hand roughly while shaking. Victor wasn't certain, but he might have been calling Zeke's name. He nodded along with the Hufflepuff's words. Anything to keep the fading boy awake. He didn't care if he already knew what the horses ate, he wanted to hear it from Zeke. He needed to hear it from Zeke. He knew should be too tired to properly process what was happening as they picked up speed through the ancient halls. Yet, these moments slowed. Seconds felt like minutes, and minutes were hours. He became painfully aware that he was the only one holding on. Zeke's hand was almost limb in his. "Don't worry Zeke. I'm here. We are okay. I promise, we'll visit the Abraxan horses. W-we'll see the fields and the herd. When the herd runs, you can feel the earth shaking beneath you." Not hearing a response, he tried again.
"Or we could visit the one they have here. Which one would you like?" He asked, voice almost trembling. He could feel his legs weaken and he almost fell. He continued, knowing they were in the homestretch as the group approached the infirmary.

The nurses pumped hard and Cassiopeia sputtered, then went still. Then, with a heaving breath and a spell uttered, she gasped in, sitting up and coughing hard, eyes wide open and pupils dilated, color rushing back in her face. One nurse pulled the venom free from her arm, the other working on her leg as Cassiopeia heaved for breath, shuddering and laying back while her breathing regulated.
Kale breathed a sigh of relief, dropping down to his knees and clasping a hand over Bion's, patting it lightly. "You did good, and we are indebted to you," he said, getting to his feet and taking Bion's hand, shaking it vigorously. "Seriously, I can never repay you for saving my sister," he said, eyes shining and still shaking his hand excitedly.

Bion laughed. A full out head back and hands on stomach laugh. he tried to cover his mouth with his hands, but it didn't help much. Sure, it might have not been an appropriate time nor place. In fact, it most defiantly wasn't, but Bion didn't care. He was overjoyed and all the pent up frustration was gone. He could relax now. He finally took a deep breath and let go of the last hour of stress and worry. Everything, finally, was going to be fine. He wiped away the tears that had sprung up and laughed weakly. He wanted to cry out and jump up and down. Luckily, he managed to restrain himself. Though that might have been thanks to Kale.
He shook his head at the sibling's high praise. Bion did well. He did help Cass, but he really couldn't say they owed him. He could already tell he wouldn't like the feeling. It just wouldn't sit right. "You two did a lot that I couldn't. Half the people there," he waved his hand over to the hill, "wouldn't have made it out alive. I just helped out the heroes." He looked over at Cass. "How are you feeling? Tired? Horrible?" He joked with a small smile, "You should be fine now. You might even get a cool scar out of the deal." He took a couple steps toward her.

His skin was chilly and sweaty, though he was shivering less now and had grown frighteningly still. He didn't react when he was moved from the stretcher to a bed, nor when the Hufflepuff boy stepped back to let the nurse do her job and only helped when he could.
The nurse didn't speak, but the Hufflepuff boy didn't have any intentions of giving up on keeping Ezekiel awake, it seemed. He patted the younger boy's cheek gently, murmuring, "Hey, c'mon, kid. You don't gotta talk, but you gotta stay awake." He clapped Victor on the back nudging him closer to the side of the bed the nurse wasn't occupying, Ezekiel's uninjured side.
Despite all the soothing reassurances, the repetition of "you'll be okay, you'll be just fine" and the "don't worry about it, it's not that bad", Ezekiel didn't stir. If it weren't for the shallow rise and fall of his chest, almost imperceptible, it would be easy to mistake him for a corpse.

This was the quietest the boy had ever been in his life. His worry and exhaustion battled within him as he sat by Zeke's cot. He didn't know what to say anymore. He had tried his best. He had tried everything he could think of. Now...it was too much. Victor now felt weak, weaker than ever before. He ran his hand through his hair and everted his eyes away from Zeke. Victor caught his reflection in one of the glass bottles. He looked how he felt.
His uniform was ruined, with enough holes, dirt, and tears to make it no better than a rag. His hair was sticking up in different directions and caked with Merlin knows what. His face had various scratches and smears of dirt crossing over. It was messy and unlike himself. He looked away from the stranger and to his friend. His face crumbled as he looked to Zeke. The boy was even worse. Victor felt a sudden sickness rise in him as he surveyed the other boy. Zeke was as pale as a sheet of parchment and almost limp. Victor would have thought the boy was gone if not for the subtle rising chest. Victor could now smell the blood mixed with the ancient castle's smell. He almost brought up his lunch.
Shaking, he grasped Zeke's hand and waited. Words did not come to him as they usually did. He couldn't come up with anything. He helplessly watched as his friend started to slip away. He stared as the nurse and Hufflepuff boy worked. He waited for anything to happen. Nothing. Slowly, he summoned up words. "Zeke, I would be lost without you. Quite literally in fact." He stopped his shaky words to tighten his grip on his control, "You know I can't find my way around this cursed castle. Don't worry, I'll bring you to a real proper castle when we see the herd." He waited again. There was nothing more he could do.

the gemini twins ;; cassiopeia maia aten && kale pollux aten Kale shook his head excitedly, smiling with crinkles at his eyes at Bion's laughter. "No, dear friend, I assure you, we owe you deeply," he chuckled slightly and released his hand, running his fingers through his hair and sitting down on the floor beside his sister, who was buttoning up her shirt as they spoke, careful of the bandages around her shoulder and leg. Kale moved her hands, which were still shaking lightly, finishing it swiftly for her before moving over to the wall to lean against it, closing his eyes so he could think for a few minutes in peace.
"I'm not a hero," she corrected Bion first thing, eyes bright and color returning slowly to her features, voice still slightly breathless. "But, thank you. For everything," she added, reaching up and grabbing his hand, sitting up as she did so to reach him. She pulled him closer, squeezing his fingers and giggling slightly, wincing when she did and taking a quick breath to regulate again, frowning slightly at the pain. "Ah, yes, no laughing for a little bit. But, if I don't get a scar, I'm suing. This is totally scar worthy," she grinned, eyes almost back to their normal shine. She pulled lightly on his arm, wanting him to come closer to her so she didn't have to strain as much to talk.

》》 OOC 《《
》》 IC 《《 Seconds passed with no response, turning quickly into minutes as the time ticked by in the dreary Infirmary. The normally neat, tidy Ravenclaw boy was little more than a heap of filthy, bloody rags now, a gaping hole ripped into the side of his once pristine uniform where, thankfully, the nurse had been able to stop the severe blood flow. She rushed less and slowed down, able to take her time, now that both she had gotten his blood loss and the venom issues under control. Still, he hardly looked much better, exactly ad pale and lifeless as before. His breathing did appear to even out a bit, however, and grow a little more steady, despite remaining rather weak. The response may have been a little late, but Ezekiel coughed painfully, turning his head to squint blearily up at his friend.
Everything was still fuzzy, the room still spinning, and while he might have been tired, Ezekiel couldn't ignore the desperate and concerned expression on the boy's face. Why...was he looking at him like that? What had happened?
Ezekiel searched blindly for Victor's hand, and when he finally found it, he gave him a thin smile. "Don't get lost, Vic," he slurred, in a rather sleepy voice, holding Victor's hand to his chest. "I might never find you again." Thoughts of the other, foreign wizarding school filled his mind with images of grand castles and dazzling Abraxan horses, a place so beautiful, just waiting to be explored. It made Ezekiel want to grin, though his smile was hardly there and pretty wobbly. All he wanted to do was rest, and he was allowed to now, but he wanted to spend time with Victor more than that. "Promise to...show me a real castle?"

Bion shook his head. Some people could not accept a complement. He was about to thank her for the protection when she grabbed his hand. His eyes widened. He wasn't use to touching. Most of his friend didn't hold hands or touch. After recovering his bewildered expression changed to one of happiness. With a small smile, he shifted closer at the slight tug. He nodded in agreement. "Of course you do. I'll support that. Everyone should have a scar with a cool story." He said. He flipped his unoccupied arm over. On his forearm, a long, silver scar stood out against his tan skin. "See, this one is my largest, but I just got it from falling off my broom. Not exactly what I'm going to tell others to impress them." He let his arm fall back to his side. He looked over at Cass with a grin. "I'm betting classes will be cancelled for tomorrow. We can catch up on quidditch." He then remembered Cass couldn't play with her injury. "Or just go over some plays."
---
Victor had his eyes fixed on the stone floor. He waited in the stifling silence for what felt like hours. Unwillingly, he felt himself start to drift off. He missed Zeke's cough so busy fighting off sleep. What grasped his attention was someone grabbing his hand. Victor tensed. Some teacher or nurse must be here to tell him to return to his common room. He looked up, ready to tell the person he was staying here until Zeke awoke. His eyes met Zeke's and he let out something that was a mix of a chuckle, cough, and sob. Merlin, they were a mess. More importantly, they were alive. For the first couple of seconds, he was stunned silent. Zeke was awake. It seemed like a miracle. He could feel tears string to his eyes, but he quickly wiped them away. No need for those. "You bet." He said with a small grin. "We may not have as many magical creatures, but we have a large and bright library." He wanted to tell Zeke how the library was only lit by natural light and there were plenty of couches. He held his tongue in favor for hearing Zeke talk.

》》 OOC 《《
》》 IC 《《 Ezekiel was so happy to hear Victor speak of the library-----actually, just to hear him speak at all. The library sounded nothing like the one Hogwarts maintained, yet in a good way. He squeezed his friend's hand tightly, head resting back against a pillow. The nurse had gone, as had the older boy, leaving the Ravenclaw and his friend along in the large, empty room. "It sounds like a lovely library," he murmured with a small chuckle. "I'd love to see it one day." Victor's school sounded lovely overall, and while it may not have a wide variety of unusual creatures, he had no doubts that it would be a wonderful place to live and study. A great clock chimed loudly from nearby, echoing through the corridor and reminding Ezekiel of how much time had passed. In the chaos, he'd forgotten and hadn't really had the chance to keep track of it or much else. As the clock rang gently and rhythmically, he looked over at the young Gryffindor. Only a year younger than Ezekiel himself, yet he'd been so very brave. Victor had saved him, no matter what the boy said, and Ezekiel doubted he'd still be around if it weren't for him.
The thought left Ezekiel with a nice, warm feeling, and he fought back a smile as well as tears. He was overwhelmed with relief and joy like he'd never felt before. Absently, he made a note to think of some way to repay Victor; maybe not now, but some time in the future. However, a much darker thought crossed his mind and he frowned.
What had caused all of this? Why had all those spiders come running from the forest?
Ezekiel didn't voice those thoughts, though, and simply tried to push them out of his mind. Instead, he asked Victor, "Shouldn't you get some rest, too? You look tired."

Kale yawned where he was on the wall, relaxing against it. Now that Cass was safe, he could relax. With it came exhaustion, as the constant flow of magic, panic, and exhertion drained a lot from the quiet boy, who preferred to spend his time reading and walking. Not running around throwing spells. He began to fall asleep, body becoming more slack and mouth hanging open slightly.
Cassiopeia noticed how bewildered Bion looked at her touch, and she frowned faintly, releasing him quickly and looking down. She thought it was because she was touching him, and it hurt a bit. Cassiopeia is a very hands-on person in all aspects of her life, and she forgot sometimes that other people weren't the same.
She brightened, however, as he showed her his scar, reaching up lightly and running a soft finger over it, trembling slightly still. "Wow," she mumbled, half hoping hers would be that cool. She looked up as he spoke of Quidditch, nodding enthusiastically with a wide grin. "I'd love to play! I'm sure I'll be cleared by then, with all the nice work you did healing me on the way up," she complimented, eyes shining now. "You should sit though, rest," she commanded, patting the floor beaide her gently, noting how tired he seemed as well.

Victor couldn't help himself as he looked up and counted the chimes. He bobbed his head as he counted. Two more from when they had started, but he felt like it had been longer. The whole event was a little surreal and out of place. It was almost like it came out of a dream, or really, a nightmare. They may live in the magical world, but large spiders weren't that common. Attacks were even less. He had never heard of anything like this happening. It was frightening. the student pushed these horrible thoughts and feelings away. He didn't want to think about it anymore. The young teen didn't want to hear about it, but he could already hear the students in the halls. He caught a couple words, mostly of shock, and braced himself. others would know he was there, due to his tattered clothing and the state he was in. He could only hope others would try to talk to their friends before him. He looked at Zeke again as he spoke. "Yeah." he said, feeling slightly disappointed. Sure, he was ready to sleep. He would be lucky if he made it to his bed before he fell asleep. Sleeping meant that he would have to leave Zeke. They both did need their rest, but Victor didn't want to leave quite yet. "See you tomorrow, I guess. I'll grab some food from the Great hall."
---
Bion smiled and decided to amused Cass. Really, he wanted to retreat back to the common room and get some much needed rest, but, after the hurt look, he really couldn't bring himself to leave. He gave a glance to Kale, just to check on the other sibling. Kale was down for the count. Bion was a little jealous that he could relax so quickly. "I hope. I'm going to need someone to practice with." He said as he sat. He rested his back against the wall and sighed. He crossed his arms. "Really, though, that was weird. The whole spider thing. I never seem anything come out of the forest, ya know? I mean, you have the occasional spider, but I really thought the headmaster put up wards." Bion looked over at Cass as he finished. In a week, this event would be forgotten. Not completely of course, but very hush-hush. The headmaster would try to reassure everyone that things were fine and send letters home. Merlin, his grandparents were going to be crazy. They might even try to convince him to leave, like that would ever happen. The more important fact was this would be covered as a freak accident. Something Bion doubted was true.
