"We should make a line. Everyone gets a turn," Skylar wisecracked, hiding her trembling with a chuckle. She was already tired, and she wanted to sit down, but she had to get off the floor first. Easier said than done, honestly. For a moment she continued to kneel there on her knees before she hauled herself to her feet with a little gasp. For a second, she closed her eyes, just struggling to catch her breath and wishing that there was someone who understood her better. After a moment, she opened her eyes and smiled at Tori. "Anyway,I'm Skylar. I don't think we've met yet."

☃️OOC:☃️ Text
☃️IC:☃️ Norman slowly ended up just going back to his sketchbook. That happened a lot with him, people sort of ended up ignoring him, by accident or not he didn't know, but he didn't really mind and ended up going back to his stuff. Skylar was fine, Kane left, he could go back to his own stuff. So that's what Norman did, he just had to wait for his brothers to come pick him up now. Of course it still would be awhile.

((Hi y'all, mind if I jump in? ^.^ also i'm going under the impression that this is a private school with uniforms...?))
Ari hated this skirt. Well, he hated a lot of things, generally, but right now it's this darn skirt. If he wasn't busy being dead inside that morning he would've fended off his mother's insistence - you are a lady! - but he had been way too tired to put much effort into that whole mess again. He sort of regretted that now - clothes had pretty much been one his only ways of expressing his gender, and he had been feeling incredibly uncomfortable all day. Not to mention his exposed legs were getting chilled by the wind, which made the whole thing even more horrid. He groaned out loud in irritation as his shoes kicked at the snow on the ground. "Hate this," he said out loud, not really caring who heard. It was actually kind of funny sometimes, when people thought he was talking to them - their heads would whip around and their eyes would dart and they would look so confused. The poor idiots. Then, he heard the unmistakable sound of someone taking a swan dive to the ground, wincing in sympathy. The icy floor was not a place he'd like to faceplant in right about now. He turned his head, for human curiosity was a powerful thing, and noticed with great distaste some donkey lording it over the poor chick who had fallen, crutches in hand. There was a limit to mocking a fellow human being. Geez. He did walk a bit closer, though, and he noticed with great relief that there were already other people confronting the bully. Nice to see there's some kindness left over in the world. And nice that he won't have to do anything. Except... "You two aren't even worth my time anyway," the talking dungbag got to sneer before making an exit. Not even a remark thrown after him to take him down a notch. Annoyance prickled across Ari's skin, his mouth twisting in disgust. That - that - Actually looks like a neat opportunity. As Kane (tried) to saunter past him, he reached out with his prosthetic arm and deftly caught the guy by digging the hooks that replace his hand into the guy's shoulder. "If you ask me, you're the one who's not worth anybody's time," Ari said dryly, looking over at him almost lazily. "How nice that I happen to have some time to waste."

Norman is me af))
Skylar hesitated for a moment. What she really wanted was to sit in one of the cozy chairs in the library, but in her current state she didn't think she could get that far. So instead, she nodded, making her way over to the staircase and sitting down. At least it would be easier to get up from here. "Tori's a pretty name," she commented, smiling up at her new friend.

Omg love Ari already yes))
Kane paused, a look of annoyance crossing his features. Here was yet another cripple, trying to waste his time. He brushed Ari's hand away im annoyance. "Aren't you the tranny?" He asked, narrowing his eyes. "The girl who thinks she's a guy? Why don't you go join their little reject club? I'm sure they'd be delighted to have you." He jerked his head over his shoulder with his classic smirk.
Oh my god this post made me feel so bad. I'm going to hell for this))

"Thanks!" Skylar grinned happily, leaning her crutches on the stairs beside her before leaning back, attempting to get at least semi comfortable, though her messed up back made that difficult. "And thanks for having my back, too," she added. Kane could've actually hurt her, pulling a stunt like that, and she cringed at the thought of that.

((haha, ari's the best, i love writing him and hey, don't worry about it, adversaries are fun! c: Fun to take down in all seriousness i really like kane as a bully character - his words are fun to combat))
Hm. Ari's dislike for the guy was exponentially growing. Almost through the roof, actually. In the past he probably would've blown up at the guy by now, but he was still tired. Still, though. He really wanted to wipe that smirk off Kane's face. Ari shook his hand disdainfully, as if worried he'd caught germs from touching the other. "Meh, I'm not a people person," he said. "And neither are you, clearly. So desperate to stomp on people who don't fit in your pitifully tiny realm of normality, and yet -" he looked around exaggeratedly. "I don't see anybody backing you up. Funny enough, a couple of people's first reactions were to help out your supposed 'reject.'" He gestured towards Kane's face with his prosthetic hand, just to shove his existence in his face a little more. "In fact, I think your little attempt to make yourself feel better about your pathetic self helped your victim make a friend. Can't say that for yourself, can you?"

Omg Ari is amazing But really I'm awful at bully characters, I don't have a mean bone in my body so Kane is really hard to write for))
Skylar nodded. "Yeah. Born and raised right here, in this small town." She gestured vaguely. "Not that we could move if we wanted to. My-" she paused, looking a bit awkward. "-condition makes that difficult. Couldn't afford to live anywhere else." ~ Kane scowled, though he looked slightly less confident. "I have plenty of friends," he shot back. "More than you do, I'm sure. So what if the cripple's friends with another cripple? I could care less, as long as they know their place. I'm just here to show 'em where that place is-- with their faces in the dirt, begging for my mercy. Which is exactly what you'll be doing in two seconds if you don't get that useless hunk of metal out of my face."

((mm, I know the struggle. almost every time i try to write a bully character im looking up what bullies do and going am I being mean right xD *hugs ari* see? people do like you! *ari grumbles*)) okie dokie, see you tomorrow! i think i'm going to head to bed too))
Ari allowed a smug smile crawl onto his face. Kane totally sounded defensive - looks like he managed to get under his skin a bit. And he got a threat as a bonus! Nice. His work here was done. Kane's following words washed over him - they sounded empty, a struggle to maintain the look of power. "If you say so," he said in a tone similar to a smiling mother saying an unconvincing yes dear to her child's bold proclamation that they were going to the moon in their cardboard rocketship. Then, he did perhaps the rudest thing he liked to do to anyone he's talking to - pretty much spun on his heel and began walking away without so much as a close or a good-bye, as if he just got tired of talking to them and couldn't be bothered. Oh, yeah, one more thing - "Keep telling yourself that!" he called over his shoulder. How sad that some people just couldn't clamber out of their mindset and just continue fooling themselves. How sad. And funny. He was sfine siring to himself a little, half-hoping Kane would just stand there sputtering and half-hoping he would come after Ari and fight him. He looked over at the student who had fallen, chatting happily with another on the stairwell. His smile faded. Kane's words echoed in his head - they'd be delighted to have you. How ironic that a bully's words were encouraging to him. Ari looked back over his shoulder one last time, just to check on Kane's reaction.

( o beautiful common timezones c': I posted something like quite a bit back i'll find it & quote but it was nothing remotely interesting lmao
ahh I had to walk my dog and it started pouring as soon as we left and with the wind it feels like you just went through a washing machine by the end ahah but we avoid the coast flooding and all that since the dunes behind the beach go on forever. I think the north & west get hit quite a lot worse)

Alex didn't rush from his final class - not for want to stick around school or anything, but he usually caught the bus home, which was timetabled to arrive fifteen minutes after school ended, but was always inevitably delayed by weather. Not bad weather specifically, just, like, the existence of weather. In general. All of it.
Most people were already out of the building by the time he was there. Tori was among them, meaning she was likely avoiding rehearsals. Understandably, really. Late for the crutch-stealing incident, he stood back, for once a spectator. Oliver, too, was there, astride a motorbike (presumably his) and with a handful of papers (contents unknown - the details of the conversation between Tori and this new guy were already gone from Alex's mind). Most everyone else involved with the aforementioned incident, Oliver didn't really seem to be focusing on anything at all. Still, Alex nodded a greeting anyway, whether or not it went seen. The guy seemed nice enough, after all. ( retrieved from the depths yo )

( snow: gmorn
blue: im in the valleys where here, ear, and year are all pronounced THE EXACT same im so angry at this country omg...sorry abt the flight delay my dude
i will show ya ! once im done. )
When Alex nodded a greeting, Oliver flicked his gaze to him and blinked in return. Then, realising that it was probably an idea to try to make friends (did Tori count? She seemed busy, though, so he decided it was best not to bother her), he moved forward slightly and cleared his throat, gesturing with his free hand nervously.
"Is - um. Is your hand okay?" he asked, for lack of a better opener. "It seemed like it hurt, earlier," damn, he was not good at this. Social interaction: failure. Maybe Alex wouldn't mind. He didn't know, but he had realised, while getting hit by a dodgeball, that he didn't have any friends in this country, and that being standoffish was not going to help at all.
