"Hey, I gotta go, I gotta talk to a couple a people before I go home.it was nice meeting you Skylar, maybe we could hang out some time?" Tori asked hopefully, really enjoying talking to her. She didn't want it to seem like she was ditching Alex or even Oliver, although she wasn't sure if the later cared very much. She wrote her phone number down quickly on a scrap of paper and gave it to Skylar, hoping that it would show she wasn't blowing the other girl off. With a friendly wave she scooped up her own bags and headed towards the two boys. She hesitated a moment. Ergh, I hope he doesn't think I'm a freak. If I go over there I'm not being clingy, right? I'm just trying to be friendly, right? Agh maybe I can make it look like I was planning on talking to Alex? Well, I do want to talk to him, I can't use him as an excuse. Argh, I shouldn't be this nervous. It was easy, making friends with Skylar. It'll be easy with Oliver too, right?

"Doesn't hurt," Alex replied - or rather, snapped - back. The words came out too quick, too awkward to sound natural, because even though the lie came without thought, it was still a lie. It did hurt. Quite a lot, actually, but you weren't going to hear that from him. He hadn't even washed the graze, and the pinpricks of blood had dried around his knuckles. Normal conversation didn't exactly come entirely easily to Alex either though, at least not with those he didn't know well, which was most people. Chit chat and small talk were not his thing. His friend group had always been fairly limited. Uh, very limited. There was Tori, and, er, Tori. A couple of the soccer guys he'd played with at the start of high school, he guessed, but that was about it. He was eager to redirect the conversation elsewhere though. "Nice bike," he commented. It wasn't much of a compliment considering he knew about as much about motorbikes as he did about Norwegian plays. The guy could have been riding a rust bucket for all he knew.

From the corner of his eye, he saw Tori approaching and so shifted his weight a little, but lowered his gaze to Alex's hands. He didn't want to pry too much, but he...well, he was someone who worried easily. Badass on the outside, warm on the inside - even if he was an anxious mess 99% of the time.
"You should get an ice-pack on it even if it doesn't hurt," he said lightly, though kept his voice quiet. At the compliment, he raised an eyebrow and turned to look at it. It was, in all honesty, his pride and joy - and so he smiled (actually smiled at that compliment). "Oh. Thank you."
His Harley Davidson was his baby. He tried his best to keep it in pristine condition, despite the fact that it was his father's money that went into it, not his own or his mother's (not that she really had any).

( ahh i'm gonna put on my (vv long and ever expanding) list of stuff to watch :0
aw man i identify with you oliver )
Alex didn't reply to the quiet ice-pack comment, just glared. He'd sort it out later, if he remembered. As much as he always wanted out of school, he wasn't one to rush home either, to the crowded house of his screeching family. Most of his time was spent either wishing he wasn't there, making whatever plans that kept him away, and dreading his inevitable return. That wasn't to say he felt no love for them - blood is thicker than water and all that, if you believe in that sort of thing - but it was definitely possible to love your family without liking them.
Tori's appearance brought half a smile, but he just glared off her question. He knew she already knew the answer, but he sure wasn't going to back it up with validation. The nurse meant questions, questions meant having to think about things he didn't want to think about, and it meant admitting that he wasn't following the wonderful 'don't get angry' advice they kept feeding him. He could have broken his own hand and he'd still insist he could sort it out himself. "Should you be at rehearsals?" he fired back, something he also knew the answer to.

( oliver is what is called
relatable )
Oliver held out his essay (still all in Norwegian - he hadn't translated a word of it) to Tori before he changed his mind, while he flicked his gaze back to Alex and raised both eyebrows. However, before he could say anything about the glare that the other boy gave him, his phone began to ring in his pocket. He had no choice but to use his free hand to answer it.
"Hva skjer?" "Er du hjemme?" "Nei, jeg er snakker til noen mennesker." "Mamma er bekymret. Hva tid vil du være hjemme?" "Jeg vet ikke. Hva til du? Dere aldri kaller meg." The line went dead, however, and so he didn't get a response. With a small huff, he flicked his gaze back to Tori and Alex.
"Sorry," he muttered.

Her face turned a little pink, "I don't need to go to rehearsals today." She muttered, knowing that he was just going to avoid the question. Rolling her eyes she set her bag down, unzipping the front pack to reveal a small make shift first aide kit, something her mom made her keep with her "just in case someone gets hurt during rehearsals" but at least It finally came into use. "Give me your hand, dork," she said with a sigh, hoping Alex wouldn't press. She knew that she had left him in tech theatre alone, and she'd have hell to pay for that later. She grabbed some gauze, fingering the light, sticky material before grabbing a small thing of antiseptic and neosporin, already knowing the drill. She was used to cleaning up his scrapes and scratches at this point. She grabbed ithr papers Oliver was holding, scanning them momentarily before turning her attention back to Alrx

From his expression, it looked for a couple of seconds like Alex was going to flat out refuse, but eventually he sighed and held out his hand to her. Even though technically it was her doing him a kindness, in Alex terms that was the equivalent of a peace offering. However, he fixed his gaze on Oliver. "You don't have to go, do you? We should do something. Go somewhere." Turning his eyes back to Tori, he glared accusingly. "You owe me." Okay, the hand was half a peace offering. It was going to take more to gain forgiveness for abandoning him in Tech Theatre. The only thing that made that class (and the teacher) half bearable was having a friend there.

( i have MALTEASERS today is a good day my dudes )
When he was asked if he had to go, Oliver considered it. His father didn't even live nearby at the moment - which meant that his mother was texting him, which likely meant...no, he didn't need to go home. She'd text him directly if she remembered him, so that wasn't a problem.
"I'm free," he said lightly, "I don't need to go."
He shoved his phone in his pocket and his hands soon followed, adjusting his bag. Where would they go? He'd only been to a few places in town so far, and that had just been to get some supplies for school. Socialising like this would be...interesting, maybe? Alex and Tori seemed like good people, and they reminded him of people at home. It was almost a comfort. Almost.

Tori hesitated at the offer, quite honestly she would want nothing more to retreat back to the public library where she could hide out until rehearsals ended. She worked there and often would just head to the office spaces that where employee only and just hung out there doing homework. She scowled at him pointing out the she owed him, hoping that fixing him up would have been enough. It was easy for her to skip out of any classes, admittedly she was a good student, and given her medical track record her teachers just let her leave when she said she felt ill. It was harder for Alex, a guy most of the teachers waved off as a trouble maker. "Yeah, sorry about that." She apologized sheepishly before nodding, looking at Oliver.
"There's a few coffee shops walking distance," she suggested with a half hearted shrug, knowing that Alex was trying to do everything possible to avoid going home. She knew the feeling, although her reasons where the opposite of his- she just didn't want to go home because of her mother who smothered her with all of her high expectations. The only light she had during the week was when she Skypes her dad back in Georgia, and even then her mother oversaw that. Sometimes she wished she could Switch with Alex, but she knew that wouldn't be possible. So, instead she just avoided her house as much as possible, not even really inviting Alex over that much , considering he didn't know how to sign well.

"I haven't been around town much, so I don't think I should have a say in this," Oliver commented idly, picking at the skin around his nails and keeping his head ducked. "I'll just...follow along, I think."
He felt his phone buzz in his pocket, but ignored it dutifully. He decided that he wasn't going to bother in answering anyone for a little while - he just wanted some freedom, and this was the perfect opportunity. A little more socialisation than he had wanted, but it would give him a chance to see a little bit of town.

"Do you want to eat or just hang out?" She asked the two guys, grabbing her phone and typing up a quick to do list for when they got to... Wherever they where going. Alex might have been able to get her to go and hang out, but she still needed to work on some things before she went home. After compiling her list she glanced back up at them expectantly, stiffening when her phone vibrated. She glanced down, looking at the screen, face paling slightly when she saw the text was from her mom. Opening it, she sighed, knowing she was most definitely caught for lying to Mr. Harrison.
Your director emailed me, asking if you where feeling ok. Told him you where feeling better and would be ready for tech rehearsals next week. Do you mind telling me what it was about? She bit her lip nervously, able to sense the icy tone even through text. She typed up a quick response, just explaining she had a ton to work on before she could get to rehearsals, or even to class, but it was all done now. She let out a small breath, praying that she wouldn't pry any more, knowing that was all that was going to happen when she got home tonight.

The question caused a slight frown to cross Oliver's face, and he paused momentarily to check his wallet. $3 and a couple of leftover krone. Not exactly ideal. Hanging out would probably be his best bet, so he gave a small shrug and lifted his gaze to look at the other two.
"I'm down for just hanging out," he said quietly. Once again, his phone buzzed, so he checked it quickly and narrowed his eyes. Right. His father - but one from his mother.
Ikke kom hjem, Silje. Mamma er opptatt. Bo med dine venner. Jonas er der, ikke sant? Nei, mamma. Jonas er i Norge. Jeg vil være i orden.

For their own reasons, family was something Alex and Tori mostly kept to themselves in their friendship. I mean, they both knew the basics, but the involvement ended there. He kept her out of his home the same as she kept him from hers. He knew Tori carried the weight of expectations on her shoulders. As for swapping, he couldn't say whether high expectations were better or worse than no expectations. Quietude was something he envied, not having to compete with seven other people for parental attention. But having people actually expect things from you or expect nothing of you wasn't really something you could imagine unless you actually experienced it. While Oliver and Tori's phones buzzed with familial communication, Alex reckoned pigs would sooner fly than he received and message from any of his many family members. Heck, he wasn't even sure that they had his phone number.
Alex grinned, even though Oliver wasn't exactly alive with enthusiasm, and Tori's acceptance was begrudging at best. He didn't mind being selfish to get his friends out with him. He could carry the enthusiasm for the three of them. "Hanging out it is," he announced, satisfied, and nudged the two others on their phones forwards with gusto. "Come on! It's too cold to stand around anyway."

(Friggin Alex)
"Where are we going?" Tori asked, a laugh actually escaping from her mouth as she was nudged forward, her eyes leaving her phones screen as she looked at her friend expectantly. This was his idea, so he got to figure out where they where going. Her phone buzzed a few times, but she already knew what it was going to say. She glanced at it one more time, laughter dying for a moment as she read the texts: You can't keep avoiding the theatre. What happened. Are they being mean? Or are you just quitting because its getting tough. I bet if you tried harder you would make more friends in the theatre department. I just want whats best for you. You know what? I don't care any more. Throw the last four years away and go be a librarian. See if I care. Goodbye. Her lips thinned into a frown, texting her some quick noncommittal response, happiness gone once again because of the controlling nature of her mother. Sure she was the only child, and sure she was sick. But that didn't mean anything to Tori, her father never freaked out like this, in fact, he gave her the space she needed whenever she asked for it. All she wanted to do was go back and live with him, but her mother would never allow it, even though she practically blamed Tori for not being able to live the life she wanted to. Whenever they got into fights she would resort back to "You don't know how hard it is to raise you on your own." along with other arguments she would rather not get into. She then shot out a quick text, explaining she made a new friend and was showing them around town, that she wouldn't be able to be on her phone for awhile, before dropping it in her bag, face void of emotion.

In a subconscious manner, Oliver patted his bike as if to say he'd be back soon, but began walking. He pulled a red scarf from his bag and wrapped it around his neck, glad that he actually packed some stuff away. Admittedly, the combination of school uniform, leather jacket, and red scarf made him seem like some kind of delinquent, but he liked the look. Went with his piercings and bleached hair. He was a #rebel.
"You are okay?" he tried to ask Tori upon noticing that she didn't seem exactly great, before looking back to Alex. "Yeah, where are we going? If you ditch me at some point, I'm going to get lost."
Which was a horrifying thought, but he tried not to think about it too much. He swallowed nervously and began absently chewing his lower lip.

( i concur )
Alex faked a scandalised expression. "You think we'd just abandon a poor newcomer to fend for himself? I'm hurt," he declared. "We'll give you the full tour, right?" he looked over to Tori briefly, oblivious to her turmoil. "Everywhere that's anywhere. Not that this is the most exciting place on earth. Actually, prepare to be drastically disappointed. Unless you were, like, living alone in the middle of a Norwegian ice field before. Or whatever. Hey, why did you move over here, anyway?" he inquired, honestly nosy. It was a nosy place, really. It was in his nature. The school was small, and anything that could remotely count as news was a stir. And he'd barely heard a thing about Oliver except for the fact that he'd appeared a couple of weeks ago, so, yes, he was curious.

At Alex's scandalised expression, Oliver snorted and covered his mouth with a hand as he smiled, nodding to his words. He hadn't lived in the middle of a Norwegian ice field before - but he decided not to say that. He'd lived in a decent enough place, and that had been what mattered.
The question caused his eyes to narrow momentarily, but he decided to answer it.
"Family troubles," he admitted. "My ma--mother is sick, my father wants better healthcare for her, all of that stuff. It was just easier to move to America than stay in Norway, for her, I suppose."
He could've stayed behind, could've lived with his grandparents or something, rather than in a house where his mother forgot who he was from time to time and his father only made brief visits when he wasn't on a business trip. He scratched the back of his head and shrugged.
"Nothing interesting."

"There is nothing here that's remotely interesting." She concurred with a small smile, shaking her head slightly to Oliver, trying to avoiding answering his question. She smiled at Alexs rather snarky comments and overall curiosity, quitly glad that someone had the courage (or general lack of tact) to ask him why he was here. She couldn't wrap her mind around why someone would move to a unheard of city in the middle of nowhere. It wasn't even a city, really, could barely be called a town in her opinion. She listened to his response to his question, nodding knowingly to the part of his mother being sick. She could, at least, relate to that. This was a town close enough to some fantastic medical facilities.
