Transferring wasn't an easy task, Oliver had realised. He'd been here for all of two weeks, and had yet to actually bother to talk to someone. The school was small, but he still kept his head and kept to himself, preferring not to involve himself in anyone else's business. A few times, yeah, he'd gotten lost - but it wasn't anything that he couldn't resolve. Lunch brought him to the stairs. They were generally quiet with most people in the cafeteria, and so he could sit on the steps and stare out of the window, with his lunch on his lap and earbuds in. Fem fine frøkner was turned up loud enough that it was vaguely audible even with the earbuds, but he didn't care too much about that. The solitude was what he was here for. He nibbled at his sandwich and squinted out at the soccer field that he could see beyond the window. Currently, it was faintly snow covered, which was...well, honestly, it was nothing compared to where he came from. He used his free hand to brush through bleached white hair, pushing it away from his face and taking a moment to dig a few black bobby pins from his back. Once they were in place to keep his bangs away from his dark eyes, he settled again. He had way too much time to kill, and in all honesty, he would've considered skipping if he didn't need his grades to be pushed up. Oliver closed the tupperware box that held his sandwiches and put it back into his bag, pausing momentarily to glance at the stairs. He could go back to his locker, grab some books to use to study and then leave - but what was the point? It would be easier to suffer through a few more classes than have to ask someone for notes if he missed too much. Man, his mind got away from him a lot. He tilted his head back against the window again and shifted his weight, and sighed softly. At least it was as boring here as it had been at home. High school movies really made a fuss out of this experience, huh? It was his last year, though, so he'd just...deal with it to get into a university or something. His fingers drummed lightly against the side of his leg and he remained where he sat, blissfully unaware of the world. Oliver Solheim ;; 18 y/o Having recently transferred from Norway to America, Oliver is finding it hard to adjust as he's not used to having to make new friends. He's lean and slender at 5'4'', and has fair skin. His natural colour is very rare to see and he usually has bleached-white hair, though his dark eyebrows suggest he has darker hair. His eyes are a very dark brown that appear lighter if light is shone directly on them. A small mole dots underneath his right eye and he has braces - they're just plain silver. He's generally found in pale blue skinny jeans and a graphic tee that generally holds a quote or something - his favourite is an Edgar Allan Poe shirt that has a raven made up of The Raven. He wants to be an actor, and doesn't really try too hard in school. He's Chinese-Norwegian and speaks Mandarin on top of Norwegian and English. Less effort has been invested in English and it's easy to tell.

Tori Addix- 18 y/o- Tori is a thin girl with pale skin that is dotted with freckles. She has dark blue eyes and black hair that is tipped with white. She has it currently in a pixie cut. She is the type of girl to wear slightly oversized sweaters, black leggings, and boots, but typically the sweaters are oversized because of her petite frame, not because she wants to be a trend setter. She also adores graphic ts, but her mother never lets her wear any of her geeky stuff to school, thinking it would hurt her social standing (which is nonexistent to start with). She is enrolled in the theatre program but wants nothing more to get out of it, she loves acting as an art but with the new director at the school she has begun hating it. She is originally from Atlanta,Georgia,, and you can hear the faint accent that is known in Georgia. She is fluent in Spanish and in Sign Language, since when she was younger she had so many ear infections that they thought she would go deaf, so her first language is actually Sign, given that her mother is deaf and they thought she would be to. She has a scar running from her collarbone to her naval from a heart surgery done a few months ago. She wears a medic alert bracelet because her surgery didn't exactly correct her problems

Tori had her own headphones in, currently listening to the genius of Lin Manuel Miranda's Hamilton, trying her best to figure out how to sign the opening number. The words where rapid fire, making it difficult for someone experienced with signing to figure out how to smoothly transition from one word to the next. Finally the senior gave up, pressing a button to skip the song, the next on her playlist being a seven minute song from Spitfire Grill, the musical that their high school put on last year. The faint blue grass tune filled her ears as she swung her backpack to face her, grabbing a textbook, a piece of paper, and her lunch as she walked down the stairs, not paying attention to her surroundings. She had to get a props list ready, along with a basic light and sound plot done by the end of the week, not to mention draft a letter asking the community for donations. On top of that she had to get her college and scholarship applications along with scheduling her own appointments for the cardiologist, pyschologist, an ENT. Ever since her surgery her mom seemed to check out, refusing to make any appointments, even for her ear doctor even though right after the surgery she got a pretty nasty middle ear infection that affected not only her balance but her hearing as well. It was like everyone wanted her to take care of everything by herself, which most of the time she didn't mind, but for once it truly bugged her. She had way to much to do and so little time.Since their last teacher left everyone looked to her to get things done, making her begin to hate the theatre program. Suddenly she felt her boot connect with someones back and she stumbled, signing a quick sorry, to lazy to use her words or take the headphones out of her ears. She glanced down, realizing it was the new transfer kid, and she frowned in interest.

Jeg savner deg. Jeg savner deg også.
His gaze had been on his phone, but when a boot connected with his back, he gave a soft huff and shifted his weight minutely. That was...unexpected, actually. From his watch, lunch didn't end for another twenty minutes - so who on earth was deciding that they wanted to make their way down the stairs now? Oliver flicked his gaze him and raised an eyebrow, taking out one earbud so that he could hear from one ear and listen to Karpe Diem's "Lett Å Være Rebell I Kjellerleiligheten Din" in the other.
The hand movements were foreign to him, so he simply tilted his head. There wasn't much he could say about that, so he simply shifted his weight to the side and flicked his gaze down again.
"Sorry," he said. Simple and clean - he had been in the way, so it was his fault that he was hit. With one arm, he reached behind himself to rub at his back, gaze flicking back up to the girl. His face remained a blank slate, and he did not make a move to introduce himself.

"Oh- uh- sorry! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to run into you," She responded quickly, noticing that he didn't know how to sign, and had to remind herself that he didn't know the language. She could read his lips saying sorry, and she flicked an earbud out quickly, the music leaving her ears as she gave him an apologetic look. She studied the boy up and down, trying to get a good read on him. "I'm Tori, a senior here. Who are you? You just moved here, right?" She asked, sitting down on the steps next to him. It wasn't every day that this small town had a new transfer student. The kid didn't speak much, and she heard rumors that he didn't speak a stitch of English. Maybe they where right? Or he could just be incredibly shy. I just hope that he's made some friends, just so he has a familiar face on campus. Everyone is so snoopy here its aggravating. Tori had moved here only a year ago, and she had to endure the endless curious stares and jokes about her southern accent and tendencies. She ran a hand through her hair, messing up her pixie cut as she plopped down. Her hand then dropped to her sweater, rubbing the soft dark red material, the only thing showing she was any bit nervous about talking to a stranger.

Ah, okay. This was new. Oliver's sharp gaze followed the girl as she sat down, and he shifted his weight somewhat as he realised he had to be polite. His mother was always very firm about that - good grades, good manners, good posture. All of those made a good man, though he decided that her way wasn't how he'd made friends, back home. Back home, he'd grown up around the people he'd known and had had childhood friends and had found it easier to interact. Here in America, it was an entirely fresh slate. That had, of course, been why they had moved. So much for the opinion of their youngest son.
"Okay," he said in response to her apology, figuring that there wasn't much he could say to it. When she moved on to introduce herself, he wrinkled his nose. She was a senior as well? Hm. The questions were few, so he decided that it wouldn't hurt to answer them. "Oliver. Yes, I did just move here."
If he put effort into it, he could quieten his accent - but he didn't feel like it. Sure, it was lazier, but speaking with a thicker accent was just easier and came naturally. He'd never done well in English classes, which was backfiring now; but he was fluent, and that was all that mattered. There was no need to be able to do tricks. He lowered his gaze again and responded to another text on his phone - mainly so that he didn't have to keep eye contact.

She studied his body posture, noting the stiffness in everything he did. The guy wasn't keen on making friends, that was for sure. I wonder if its because he misses his home or if he simply has no interest in creating human connections. He speaks English, but... She frowned for a moment, concentrating on the boys voice. Her middle ear infection made it hard to hear anything, it sounded as if things where spoken through cotton, which is why she had her music on so loud. It sounds like he has an accent, I think? She frowned again. Typically this wasn't a problem, she was more of a lip reader than someone who actually listened to someones voices, and this wasn't a problem because most of the people she met didn't have accents.
"You aren't from here, are you?" She asked a little loudly, curious as to where he was from. English was most likely not his first language, considering his response to her apology was "Okay."

Hadn't they just gone over this? Or was that a different question? Oliver took a moment to consider it, and ultimately decided that she was probably asking what country he was from. He also noted that she spoke a little louder than he was used to, but that wasn't a problem - he could hear her over his music, which continued to be various Karpe Diem songs. That was fine by him.
"No," he replied, still toying with his phone in his hands. "I'm from Norway."
If that wasn't what he had been supposed to answer with, then he wasn't sure what else he was supposed to do. He stared ahead at the window and considered, momentarily, heading to a cafe or something. Skipping class was feeling more and more tempting as time went on.

"Intersting." She commented, noting the hesitancy in his voice. I bet English isn't his first, or best, language. She thought with a pang of sympathy, pulling out her own phone to turn off the music. She settled down, grabbing her text book along with the script for the show, deciding to get some of her work done. She glanced back at him, noting the longing look in his eyes. She suddenly felt lucky, growing up with a deaf parent and most people thinking that she herself was deaf. It taught her how to read body language and faces, which came to her advantage many times.
"I wouldn't leave. It is a closed campus." She added, writing in quick, tiny words. She decided to get started on the props list, since the teacher, Mr. Harrelson, wanted it by the end of the school day, even though he gave the assignment to her this morning. The man was insane, she swore, not even letting her audition for the show just because of her health problems last semester, not to mention her hearing that was seemingly failing currently. He insisted that she should focus on technical theatre, not wanting her to "overdue" herself during the show. He was aggravating, even when she was acting he tried to get her off of the stage and into the technical side of theatre. "If you leave the school you'll get in trouble."

How easily Tori read him didn't exactly bother him - he didn't express positive emotions very often and so they wouldn't be read, and negative or neutral emotions weren't worrisome, so he let it slide. He raised his eyebrows, however, at hearing that it was a closed campus. Irritating. He shrugged lightly and looked down at his phone again, mouth twitching at the words on the screen (jeg elsker deg - words he still tried his best to get used to).
"There's nothing to do on-campus. Having a closed campus seems almost restrictive," he commented idly, shifting his weight. Oliver did not appreciate not being able to wander during lunch, and that just...well, most things about this town bothered him, so he just learned to let it slide. He leaned against the wall and turned down his music slightly. There wasn't much to do here, but at least he only had a few classes left. Then he could go home and sleep, or something like that. Maybe work on some homework. Skype call friends. He didn't know.

"It is restrictive," She agreed, opening her own lunch bag and grabbing a simple turkey sandwich and unwrapping it. Taking a bite she chewed it thoughtfully, watching the campus carefully, unsure on how she was going to explain the reason why it was a closed campus. Too many students had been in car accidents in the past three years that the school board decided to close the school down, making sure no more students would get hurt during the school year. She checked her phone, turning off the show tunes, and wrinkled her nose as she bit down again in the sandwich. Her mom must have gotten the spiced turkey instead of the plain stuff that she actually would eat. She put it down, wrapping it up again before grabbing two soft sugar cookies and offering one to him.
"A ton of kids kept on getting into car crashes so the school board decided to make it a closed campus." She explained, taking a bite of her own cookie. She continued to make a few notes on her props list, clicking her tongue in thought.

Alex had always known his grades weren't exactly exemplary, but until today he hadn't been aware of it being a meet-me-in-my-office-at-lunch, buck-up-or-you'll-be-repeating-the-year thing. Stupid graduation was the only thing he had, and that very idea was infuriating in itself, because why did everyone make such a big deal out of it, anyway? But it was a milestone, the end of this place and the start of... well, whatever came next. He didn't really care, and maybe he should be careful what he wished for - but seemingly endless days of having classes and homework and tests and college applications shoved down his throat felt like weights pulling him under.
Alex didn't handle stress well. One way or another, and before long, it always materialised as anger, despite adults' ever so enlightening recommendations such as, 'well, just try not to get angry'. Hm, thanks, when you put it that way, it's so much easier!
So, stomping down the stairs in heavy steps and with his fists clenched at his sides, something about other students sitting on the stairs blocking his way down was the last nail in the coffin for Alex. He swung a fist which collided hard with the wall. Instant regret. Pain shot up his arm enough to take the breath from him, but the second his lungs caught air again, he produced a rather impressive string of loud, frustrated expletives. He cradled his hand to his chest. Not elegant when for anyone else a simple 'excuse me' would have sufficed. Ha! So much for closed campus stopping us getting hurt. But then, maybe he was an exceptional case for finding trouble.

A shake of his head showed that Oliver didn't wish for one of the cookies, and instead he focused down on his lap. The fingers of his left hand absently traced over the material of his jeans, the other staying firmly on his phone. He considered finding something else to do, but decided that he really didn't have the energy for it. Class would be soon. He could suffer until then.
"Doesn't mean that students won't get in crashes on the way to or from school," he commented idly, "it's not as if making everything restrictive will suddenly make it safe."
It all depended on how stupid some people were, or how bad the conditions were. Either way, it wasn't a very good reason. When someone's fist connected with the wall behind him, he jumped rather violently and stood up, turning to face whoever it was. For a moment, he simply squinted.
"Was that necessary?" he asked slowly.

"Thats what we all think about that. Its a pretty stupid rule." She agreed before giving a shrug and finishing off her own sugar cookie and putting the second one back in her bag. Tori didn't hear the loud explicitives that came from Alexes mouth, only hearing a faint muttering in the background. It took the pixie-like girl to turn around slightly, recognizing Alex in a millisecond. Well someones not happy. She thought wryly, trying her best not to smirk, recognizing her friend. "Y'know, you shouldn't hit walls. It's bad for your health," She joked, slipping back into her habit of signing while talking, grabbing her extra cookie and offering it to him. The two became fast friends when she transferred from Atlanta. She glanced back at the transfer, curious as to why he was so keen on not making a connection.

So, did these two know each-other? Oliver wasn't entirely sure. His gaze flicked between the two in an unsure manner, and he took one set down from the stairs. He wasn't exactly a submissive person by nature, but he was now saddled with not one, but two unfamiliar people. One of whom had just punched a wall. He blinked slowly and looked down at the other boy's hand, a small frown on his face.
He didn't speak, this time. Instead, he chose for observance. He really wasn't sure what to do - were there cues or something he had to follow? In his own friend groups in Norway, he'd just sorta...done whatever. They'd liked him because he talked about things he liked and was a generally friendly person. He hadn't really realised how much that had changed until this moment. His brows pulled down lightly and he crossed his arms absently, ducking his head.
