"Yeah. Well. The wall had it coming," Alex grumbled, although his body relaxed at the sight and sound of a friendly face. With his unaffected hand he accepted the cookie with a blink that, if you knew him, you'd know was a sort of thanks of its own kind. Whatever anger that had raged half a minute ago seemed to dissipate with surprising ease - although his grazed hand did still ache with dull pain even if he pretended like nothing had happened. Rather, he flexed it loosely at his side now. Apparently only noticing the third person among them at that moment, he glanced down with a frown. "Who's your friend?" he inquired, his expression a frown that looked more menace than it meant. Really, he was just trying to work it out - the guy seemed familiar (it was, after all, a small school) but no memory of ever seeing him or knowing his name came to mind.

Walking down the hall from her English classroom, Temperance held her head low and hurried through the school, hoping no one would see her on the way to the cafeteria. Though she had only been making up a test she'd missed, walking down the halls alone during lunch made her feel quite unpopular, and a bit vulnerable. Not that she cared much about her image, though she still cared about upholding it. Reaching the top of the stairs, she glanced down over the railing and noticed a few students on the second set of stairs, one noticeably looking like he just punched something. Stopping where she was, Temperance's green eyes cast over them again, taking in the situation. No one appeared to be hurt, except one guy's hand, so she assumed it wasn't a fight. She also noted that she didn't know any of them. I guess they're from another grade. She though as she watched them, before realizing she had been staring. Quickly composing herself, she gingerly made her way down the stairs towards them, she black curls bouncing around her face as she did so.

"This is..." She frowned, momentarily forgetting how to say his name verbally. This was a common problem for the girl- she didn't really learn how to speak until she was older when she started to spend more time with her dad. For a good portion of her life she simply signed instead of spoke. She spelled it out quickly with her hands before remembering with a grin, "Oliver. He's new here." She added, her attention returning back to the quiet boy. "Hey, what do you like doing, anyways?" She asked curiously, fully facing Oliver once again. She flashed a look towards Alex, as if asking him to play nice just for a little bit. She flinched a little when a girl whirled passed her, uncomfortable with her not being able to hear anyone coming. The girl looked familiar- maybe she auditioned for a play before. Or was in one of her AP classes or book club or student council. Tori was pretty involved with the student body, wanting everything to look great for college applications.

The wall had it coming? That was a new excuse to him. Oliver blinked owlishly as Tori introduced him, before glancing to her. Oh. Man. Okay. A question? This was...something. He was delicate in his movement to make space for the girl who headed down the stairs before he refocused on the two in front of him.
"I like reading and gaming," that was a simple enough sentence, he supposed. He'd said it enough times, too. "I also like football - wait, no..." he broke off with a small scowl, "you call it soccer. That. I used to do kickboxing."
Well, that was the longest amount of time he'd spoken in English, and it didn't seem to be too bad. His gaze flicked to Alex again as if waiting to see if the guy was going to punch something else. That would be some entertainment, at least.

I wonder if he just doesn't speak English well. She wondered, watching his body language quietly. She nodded in approval when he mentioned books. She was an avid reader- she would read things ranging from nonfiction to creative fiction to scripts when she had the time. "Reading? Thats pretty neat." She said with a grin, not wanting to pester him if he didn't want to talk much. She scratched her hand, nervous at what was going to happen at the end of lunch. Her next period was Technical Theatre, and she was not looking forward to having to go to the class. She was glad because Alex was in it with her, but she didn't want to have to deal with the crazy that was their teacher, not during a stressful day like this.
She knew for a fact that he would be pestering her about the props list. And the light plot. and the sound plot. Honestly, it was tempting to just skip out on the class and hide out in the library for the rest of the day. Of course her parents would find out and she would be grounded for the rest of eternity, but she was still considering. (Is that okay?? If not I'll change the class ^^)

Shrugging off Tori's warning look, Alex leaned against the stair railing, eating the cookie slowly to savour it - he hadn't brought any food with him and wasn't counting on getting anything from the cafeteria before the next class at this point. As a dark-haired girl slipped her way past them - another person he recognised but really didn't recognise - he stuck out a food to trip her. Not really malice - he was a careless joker and admittedly not the most considerate guy around. Plus, something about growing up with squabbling siblings had given him an instinct for that sort of stupidity or something. His eyes stayed on Oliver, listening to his sentences and marking the accent in his mind. New from where? The guy clearly wasn't speaking English as a first language. Well, like Tori in a way, but Alex had grown used to that. At the start of their friendship he'd got her to teach him some sign, although that was a doomed venture from the beginning. He maybe remembered how to spell his name, if he thought about it, though.

"Ja," Oliver blinked, gaze still on Alex as he spoke to Tori. He had a hard time multitasking between remembering to speak English (a failure, he realised, a second too late), keeping an eye on the one who punched walls, and keeping some attention on Tori, but he hoped he was making it work. "Not many English books. Mostly in Norwegian or Danish."
Or Mandarin, but he decided not to bring that up. He already felt like he was giving up too much - but then again, why was he hesitant? Oversharing hadn't been a problem before, and he didn't think it would be a problem now. Hopefully.

☃️OOC:☃️ Alright!
☃️IC:☃️ Norman Walters had finished his lunch already, having always been a fast reader, and so the short redhead was currently seated at his table, holding a comic book up to read, it was a Squirrel Girl comic book, as she was his favorite and one of the few exceptions in which he preferred marvel instead of DC, which in his opinion, was far better. He flipped a page idly, fully emerged in his book, big, thick rimmed, black glasses sliding off his freckled nose, though he didn't seem to notice. Though at this rate, it was unlikely that the skinny boy would even notice the bell when it rang. He wasn't overly fond of this school so far, having only been there for a few months, yet he was adjusting, even if all his friends were half way across the country and he had yet to bother trying to make new ones. Instead he was focusing more on schoolwork and enjoying his solitude.

"Oh?" Oliver was obviously surprised, and he blinked a few times. It took him a moment to think of much else to say, but it seemed polite to try to keep up the conversation. "Have you read anything by Henrik Ibsen? Not technically books - but they're good plays."
A faint quirk of his lips suggested amusement at Alex's antics, but nothing beyond that. He glanced down to his phone as it beeped, frowning a little at what was on the screen.

"Mmm, I like how Nora essentially tricked Torveld into believing she was innocent, stupid, and rather doll-like. I mean, let's be real. Torveld is a complete idiot - he's so misogynistic and weak and childish, I can't believe I've met people who like him? I'll admit, though, I dote on Krogstad. He's a reasonable antagonist who isn't a villain..." he trailed off and shrugged, as if he hadn't just spoken even more than he had intended. "I had to write an analysis for it once, complete with what I'd change. I'd find it for you, but it's all in Norwegian."
And he was not willing to translate. Sure, a translator's work was something he enjoyed - but translations of his own words? Not particularly great. Besides, his grammar wasn't great in English and he still stumbled here and there, so he would probably do literal translations rather than anything else.

(tbh I actually really love this play I could go on and on about it ^^)
"I agree with your belief on Krogstad. He's a fascinating character, really." She grinned, excited about having someone to talk to about what she considered where the classics where. She listened to him talking about the analysis. "You know, I had to do that as well, and if you wouldn't mind I'd love to read it," She added, almost shyly, her hands stilling for a moment. "I-It doesn't matter that its still in Norwegian, I might be able to get it translated," She added quickly. She would love to hear his opinions on certain parts of the play.
"Of course you don't need to. Actually that was a really weird question, sorry, my inner theatre kid escaped for a lil bit," She apologized, taking back her request, cheeks pinkning slightly in embarrassment. She usually didn't talk this much to others, keeping her friends really to Alex and a couple other kids in the book club she was a part of.

( ahh omg im neutral on it )
For a moment, Oliver considered it - before shaking his head. It had been a while ago that he'd written it, so he expected he'd messed up here and there. Sure, he'd gotten a 5, but that wasn't the point. His handwriting was messy, besides that, so he decided it was best to keep it to himself for now. Besides, he didn't even know this girl. It would be a little odd to share something like that.
The bell caused him to jump slightly and wince. Oh man. Now he had to find his class, which was going to be an adventure in itself. He reached into his pocket to find his schedule and glance over it.
"It's okay," he said, "as much as I love Ibsen, English plays have always been a little more fascinating to me. Why do you people always romanticise Romeo and Juliet?"

( ahh okay we'll try not to keep u waiting too long my dude !! )
"I like Macbeth," Oliver admitted lightly, "it's good. Stabby. Murderdeath. Y'know. Un-romanticised stuff. Romeo and Juliet was terrible and I had to play Romeo one year. Our teacher translated it by hand because he didn't trust official translators. It was awful."
He shoved his schedule back into his pocket and shrugged lightly.
"Gym. So I must go outside, into the cold, to the gym," at least that was easy to find, he supposed.
