"Okay." River said softly. "Can I come?" Ellie nodded. She waved to a girl who looked exactly like her, but with longer and more sporty.

{Lol you don't have to do that. I haven't made Erika's form yet anyway} Lani glanced around some, but decided it was better if she just tried to ignore everything. She almost wanted to protest when Mick went to get the beer, but she didn't want to seem that lame. Instead, she made an effort to seem as unapproachable as possible without looking weird while waiting, which mostly just amounted to her keeping a straight face and looking bored. She didn't like being surrounded by people and she hated the music and this really wasn't how she thought her night was going to play out. It was definitely not something she would be finding herself doing again any time soon. She relaxed a small bit when he returned and no one had actually approached her. She wouldn't have known what to do if someone had ended up trying to talk to her, but luckily, it seemed like everybody was too preoccupied with each other. It wasn't too surprising since it seemed that everybody knew each other anyway, or at least they were getting to know each other in ways she really didn't want to think about. She wasn't about to drink though, even as she saw that he had gotten two beers. She followed Mick, feeling comforted as the music died down a little. She wasn't suffocating surrounded by a bunch of people and stuffy air anymore, so it was already much better. She easily ignored the girls and the guy nearby, dismissing them as small, unimportant annoyances. She sat next to Mick, not yet dipping her feet in the water like him. "I hope you don't actually expect me to drink," she told him, somehow not sounding as timid as she felt. "I'll be leaving in an hour anyway." {oml this reminds me of our 1x1 and I just ;-; }
Mick raised an eyebrow toward Lani as she sat down next to him but refused to take the beer. He then shrugged and placed hers down on the other side of him where no one was sitting and took a sip out of his own. The beer wasn't anywhere near as cold and good as the ones in his dad's cellar back at home, but it was good enough to take the edge off of his anxiety. He didn't intend to get anywhere near drunk, as he was his own ride home, but he knew that his confidence was no match for the amount of stress piling up as the days went by. There was just always so much pressure... maybe this wasn't the right scene for either of them. If Mick stood around the amount of alcohol that was available to him much longer, he would give in to his guilty urges.
He wasn't shocked about her last statement about going home so soon. He didn't want to be here for too much longer either. If he couldn't tell it by her face, her tone was a dead giveaway to the fact that she hated everything about this party. He couldn't help but wonder if he was part of the problem- other than being the one to drive her here- but pushed the thought away quickly as he turned his head sideways to face her. "How about we just talk about stuff other than school-related cliches and the stupid actions of kids who can't even figure out that their status at this party means nothing come the day after. Everything may be similar to the week before, but I plan on mixing it up a bit. Yanno, like a curve ball or a plot twist, call it how you must." He paused for a bit of a dramatic effect, although the next part of his statement wasn't as climactic as he had made it out to be. "I have this burning question that's just been eating me up inside, and I've just been meaning to ask you.." His face grew very serious for a moment before asking, "What's your favorite color?" His stern expression gave way to a stifled laugh as he felt his lips widen into a smile. "I mean, if it's too personal of a question, you don't have to answer. Normally I wait until the second or third day of knowing someone to tell them mine." He was obviously trying to find a bit of humor in their unlikely situation, but who knows if she'd even give him much more than an eye roll.{Lol don't worry about it. Respond to what you have time to respond to and whatnot. On the topic of a new thread: I don't mind either way} Lani did end up rolling her eyes in a sort of amused, 'you're a dork' way. She kind of thought he was overselling it with how he couldn't stop talking about how stupid the school hierarchy was, but maybe that was just because he didn't have anyone to talk to about it. She tended to talk a lot about things she didn't have much opportunity to talk about when someone showed interest. She wasn't comfortable enough to actually talk a lot about her interests though, not yet. She didn't trust that whatever she talked about wouldn't be judged. She wanted to be careful with her words and what she made comments about. She had only known him for less than a day, so even though he was sharing quite a bit with her, she would wait before offering the same. She was often uncertain about the things she liked and what people thought of them, so she wanted to wait before showing that she could be a rather outgoing person. "Yes," she said sarcastically. "Because asking someone's favorite color is such a personal thing." She hummed, pretending to look at her much-too-long nails in a way reminiscent of some popular girls or cliche movie teenagers. She had painted them a sort of sparkly purple color a few days ago. "It's orange, by the way. My favorite color is orange." It was an odd favorite color, especially since she hardly owned anything actually orange. She was picky with which shade of orange she liked too, but it meant something to her. She had actually written a paragraph or two before when explaining it to her friends over text once. "This isn't going to turn into a 'twenty questions' type thing, is it? Because one, that's kind of weird, and two, it doesn't actually help to create conversation. Also I'm bad at coming up with questions."

{heheh that may be my fault, sorry about mentioning the whole cliquey stuff all the time with Mick. I'm still trying to figure out how to rp with my new characters cx }
Mick didn't feel the need to let her know if this was going to be a 20-question situation or not, let alone if they would go into anything person, which he didn't plan to. He smiled when she finally answered his question, wondering if she could even attempt to create a real conversation with him if she kept up that wall of hers. "Alright then, so orange is your favorite color, you aren't very good at asking questions, and you don't like going into spaces with large, obnoxious crowds." Why did she have to be so blocked off from the idea of possibly having any fun? Either that or at least make the most of her 'unfortunate' situation. "I can assure you that I am in fact a great conversation starter, it's just that you.. I don't know what to say to you." He frowned slightly at his own words, wondering what exactly would make this situation less of a strain for the both of them. "If you're so critical about the way I've led this conversation so far, then why don't you talk to me about something you think is interesting?" His look almost challenged her to see if she would quit being so gosh darn moody and at least put away that tough wall she had up, if not then at least not look so annoyed to be in his presence at a party. If he had to be honest, this wasn't nearly how he'd expected the night to go, and he was ready to leave soon, himself. "Maybe a change of scene will make you less cranky." His aggravated tone didn't match his teasing expression, although he new he was walking on a thin line with her. Getting up, he left their beers by the poolside and offered her a hand to help her up if she wanted it.

{The clique stuff is entertaining lol}
Lani instantly felt a little guilty for her attitude. It was an issue she had and that people, namely her parents, had lectured her about. She was bad at appearing approachable and she would probably be a whole lot nicer if she was in the presence of someone she knew well. "Sorry," she said. "I'm bad at... people. Social things." She waved a hand in a nonsense gesture, and accepted his when he offered it. "It's a thing that I have to work on. I'm better with people I've known for months or when they act as buffers. It's like, 'whoa, she actually knows how to use words?'" She was trying not to retreat back to her usual offish attitude. She actually loved making friends, but it usually happened in controlled environments, like school. It was why she had been a lot more open earlier that day.
"Something interesting..." she hummed, kicking her feet lightly. "Oh! The new Spiderman movie that came out was really good. I loved the actor. I saw it with a friend, and we just could not stop talking about it afterwards. We still text about it. It was much better than the other Spiderman movies at any rate, and like, I'm not even into Marvel at all. Tom Holland's American accent was surprisingly good. The plot was great and I loved Tony Stark's mentor role in it, though I'm not too big on Tony Stark himself. The villain was actually a villain I could understand whose entire character wasn't just 'I'm the villain and I want to take over the world or whatever just because' you know? The characters were all pretty diverse actually and I am probably way too into superheroes, huh?" The movie seemed to be a pretty safe topic to talk about. It wasn't a very controversial topic, but it was still something she enjoyed and that she could easily talk about. Without really realizing it, she had started doing some more nonsense gestures as she spoke.

Sidney closed her eyes gently as he played, and smiled softly as he explained his reason for playing this certain song. When it finished, she found herself slightly closer to him than when she had closed her eyes, but didn't care too much about moving away. Instead, she allowed his calm strumming of the guitar to lull her in sync with the next tune as she swayed ever so slightly with the time signature's tempo. She stared cutely into his eyes while saying in a quiet tone. "That was.. beautiful." She paused to think of how she would say the next part of what she was thinking without mentioning the fact that she now totally had an instant crush on him. "You really do have a knack for making others feel what you do when you sing like that. It's so.. genuine." Her smile widened slightly. "I like it." She wanted more than anything to sit and listen to him play more notes and an infinite amount of songs, but she knew that she'd probably have to give him some more time to himself. After all, she wasn't an expected visitor in the first place. "I should go soon. I mean.. th-that is if you want me to. Do you want me to go?" She silently pleaded to her lord and savior Jesus Christ and the essence of her beloved Britney Spears that this boy would want her to stay, but she knew that this all just had to be a fantasy she was dreaming up.Kellan looked over at Sidney and said,"You can stay. I normally don't stay here too long anyway. I just come to get my frustration out before I go home." He sent a small smile towards her before saying,"Thanks about the compliment, by the way. I don't normally open up like that to many people so that means a lot, whether you realize it or not." He continued to play the opening chords for another song that showed why he liked music. "Here's another song that shows why I like music." With that, he started singing Bleed by Hot Chelle Rae, and when he finished, he let the last chord ring out a while before cutting it off. He bit his lip and shook his leg slightly in anticipation of what Sidney would say.

He couldn't help but think it was.. cute. No one really got too excited about movies around here unless a classmate was starring in one, so he didn't find her rambling too odd despite her previous mood. He was about to tell her No, don't be sorry. I can just take you home, when he heard the title of the movie she'd seen. His laugh now became audible and he stopped walking to turn around and face her. "You and me both. And while I do support everything you just said, because let's face it, that movie was so frickin' amazing, I do want to contradict you. Tony Stark has always been a great character, and he'll always remain to be one of my favorites. I was kind of shocked that they didn't picture any of the other avengers, but then again it allowed the movie to highlight their father-and-son relationship really well. As for Tom Holland, I think he did a fantastic job, and I think that the directors did a great job at creating a character that could show how he uses what he learns in school to his advantage as his alter ego. It's quite interesting how you can live two very different lives while still remaining yourself. That, my friend, is what makes a movie memorable; not the digital effects, or even good actors. Give it a good script and the person with the right heart, and you've got a multi-million dollar film." He paused to suck in a breath of air, as he had forgotten that breathing came above anything else. A small smile now tugged at his lips as he added, "But heck, what do I know. I'm more of a DC Comic kind of guy." He leaned up against the wall of the house and crossed his arms, curious to see what would come out of her mouth next.

Yup, definitely crushing. Hard. Although she had so much to say, all she could manage to do was clear her throat and say, "That was um.. nice." Why was he so freaking cute when he bit his lip like that. Calm yourself, Syd. Just breathe.. and.. "Do you, maybe, want to get some coffee or something?" What?
Sidney didn't drink coffee. She liked to sip hot chocolate and put cute lil marshmallows on it and maybe some whip cream if she was feeling zazzy one day. But coffee? What was she doing, exactly? "Or, yanno, just hangout? There's a party tonight at this kid named Sorren's house and.. who better to take me, I guess, right?" She laughed, half-nervous-half-shocked at her sudden courage to ask. She didn't know how she'd even bring up the subject, but apparently there wasn't much more time to ask before she would have to go get ready anyways. She looked up to meet his gaze, and in a more neutral, nonchalant tone she added, "Or, yanno, neither. I heard there was a pool though. That could be fun." At this point she looked down at her hand, which she'd unconsciously placed on his thigh. She went to take it off of him and let it sit on her own, hoping he hadn't noticed how close they now were.

Lani actually seemed to get a bit more visibly excited at that. It was easier to talk when they found common ground, and this was definitely something she could talk about. She didn't even seem to realize the sudden change in her expressions. "Oh, really? I love DC Comics! Mostly Batman stuff, though I do pay attention to pretty much everything DC. Everybody seems to like Marvel, which I never really got, but whatever. To each their own. It's just not my thing and DC is just so much more interesting to me." She took a deep breath, stopping herself there. She could honestly talk about DC all day--had spent multiple days at a time talking about it before--but that wasn't what they had originally been discussing. "Anyway, Spiderman is probably the one Marvel franchise... whatever that I actually pay attention to, so I'm really glad that they did such a great job with the film. I'm so glad that they actually chose an actor that could pass as a teenager and they actually had Peter acting like one. I don't think the other films spent quite as much time diving into that part of Peter's character, and his whole thing is that he is a teenager, thrust into this whole new life and I think it's really great that they explored that. On a completely different note, I loved Zendaya's character and I related to her a lot." She wondered if she was babbling a bit too much, but her mind was going through a bunch of different things at once now. Mostly, it pertained to the movie and everything she wanted to gush about that she had already gone over with other people.

Lol. It's chill. If you want, you can post a starter, and I'll reply when I can. ) {Ok this probably sucks sorry} While Dmitri liked silence at times, liked being able to sit and rest, he also enjoyed having background noise. It didn't matter what it was--school, music, the tv--he just liked having something to listen to while doing other things. When he couldn't stand the silence, he often found himself wandering just to have something going on while he did homework or worked on sheet music. He usually sat outside when he was working on music, but when he was doing homework, he tended to leave the TV on. At school, Dmitri usually found himself sitting in the choir room in his free time. He was friendly enough with the other kids, but mostly it was nice to listen to them practice. He liked singing and listening to people sing and rehearse. People were often in and out of the choir room at all times in between classes, so it was a nice place to hang around in. Sometimes he also found himself wandering between all of the music classrooms before and after school and during lunch. He was able to have the drama kids rehearsing their lines or the orchestra kids tuning their instruments in the background while he leaned against the wall and worked on something else. It was nice to just listen at times. Dmitri was once again wandering between music classrooms. It wasn't odd for people to see him lingering around, and after spending freshman year sitting outside classrooms a lot, it was starting to become a somewhat normal thing. A fair few people were usually around anyway, so he was pretty much just another face. Coming to a decision, Dmitri sat just outside of the band room. He could hear a few people, as always, rehearsing one thing or another, so he let them wash over him as he got out some homework to do. It wasn't like he had anywhere else to be.
