Will knew he had lost this battle. But not the war. Grabbing his stuff he threw the trash into the garbage and slung his bag over his shoulder "I have some work to finish, so i'm going to head to the library." it wasn't really a lie, he did have work. He was going work out a way to cover for his inexperience. And maybe get another coat. It would be freezing. Just the thought sent a chill up his spine.
Waving to his friend, and sending Lux a look, he headed out of the cafeteria and into the large hallways. He had memorized the layout of the place, mostly, and walked to where he was sure the library was.
Seth laughed out loud "That's a first. Will looking so flustered. You have a talent my friend."

β³ "What is he doing? What work does he have on the first day?" Lux wondered, puzzled by his sudden departure. He never would have guessed that William was going to try to learn to ski by reading about it.
Lux regarded Seth with disinterest. "Many, actually," Lux informed Seth, raising his eyebrows sarcastically. He glanced at Brooke, then back to Seth. "I hope your date goes well. The snow should be nice and fresh this afternoon, if it snows like it's supposed to," he added, trying to be polite. Seth wasn't exactly someone he knew how to socialize with, but he knew how act⦠in general. He didn't want to make a rival of William's friend as well. In fact, it'd be better if Seth thought he was a good person.

"Thanks man, it was a really good suggestion. Anyone who can throw Will off, even if it's only a little, is pretty cool in my book. You don't know how long I tried before realizing that it was a lost cause." he took Brookes' hand and waved at Lux before he walked away saying "Talk to you later." before he had thought the vampire was someone dangerous. And he still might be. But Seth could see that he meant no harm to the humans here.

β³ Lux laughed. "Well, I'd be happy to do it again, then," he replied, a little surprised. A friend could be both loyal and tricky, though. He knew Maya didn't often pretend to like him when she was displeased. Maybe it was just that Seth was so open about it.
He nodded and waved back as Seth and Brooke walked off. They'd probably go back to their old seats or something. Lux's seemed to have taken off in a conversation without him, and at this point he had no idea what they were even talking about. He got up to throw his trash away; he might as well before the bell for the next class rang.

The bell rang as Will was just getting past the basic form. Grumbling to himself Will jumped to his feet and grabbed his bag. Waving to the librarian he opened the door and turned left. His next class was actually FACS, food and nutrition, whatever you wanted to call it. He had enjoyed taking it last year. Apparently not a lot of schools had it. They learned how to cook and how to live a healthy life style. It was a good reminder.

β³ Lux made his way down to History, a very dull class even when it wasn't the first day. While he (obviously) loved the government classes offered, he'd already taken all he could and had to finish his high school years with a normal History course. Boring. He'd have to endure though; he just hoped his teacher would be exciting, then maybe he had a chance of actually paying attention.
He entered the classroom, taking his seat. Even as the syllabus was handed out and the PowerPoint over the class layout and rules began, all he could think about was skiing later that day and his future campaign. He almost didn't notice when the teacher made everyone sign an "agreement" saying they understood that they would get no credit for late work. Lux didn't care much; he never did work late and he seldom ever missed school.

Sorry for the major poof! I'll try not to let that happen again. ^^; )
The Foods teacher was a bright women, she had redish brown hair and an apron tied around her waist. They weren't even going to be cooking today, but he didn't comment on it. No on in the class did, better to just let it go. She was a lot like the English teacher, but looked like she had taught before and never let it get her down. Her name was Mrs. Peterson and she had two kids and a husband who worked as well, though not here. Will thought she acted quite peculiar, but also felt like she would end up being his favorite teacher.
When the bell rang he found himself sad to go. But thankfully they only had one more class and then they could either return to town or back to the dorms. Depending on where you lived. Will had decided to get a dorm room seeing that the drive up and back were not worth the extra money.

β³ Lux made his way to his next class: History. While enjoyed government classes, he didn't have a particular interest in History. He was even less enthusiastic about the class as he found out it was taught by a human. In most of his history classes, he at least got first or second-hand accounts of history, moreso for more recent history, just as the twentieth century.
When the bell for his last class rang, he sighed in relief. He only had to make it through one more class before the end of the school day. Gratefully, he walked to the next classroom, taking his assigned seat.

Will would be lying if he said he was surprised to see Lux in his last class. Honestly he was more surprised that he didn't have more with him. There were only two different schools in here, most of the classes where pretty small in the first place. Looking at the front screen he found his spot and sat down. He was on the other side of the class room. (What class do you want it to be? It would be pretty funny if it was a life skills or health kind of thing. I had a friend who took a class like that and he was paired up with another guy to do a fake child care thing. It was hilarious. Or we could do a gym class, or another one where they would constantly be fighting to get a head of each other.)

β³ sorry I've been gone. I was feeling bad over the weekend and yesterday our heater broke (luckily it was fixed today) so I was super worried. Both of those sound super good. Maybe it's like gym and health, so every other day they do health, next day gym, etc? }}
If he'd paid more attention to whose names were on the chart at the front of the classroom, he wouldn't have been surprised when William walked in. However, he hadn't. Then again, it was a small school, and William being on a similar intellectual level as himself, Lux found it strange they weren't more likely to have other classes together. Gym/Health was usually just assigned by whatever slots you had empty. Some classes could only be taken in a certain hour, say 7th or 3rd.
This class, however, was just a mandatory elective. Everyone had to take it. Therefore, he was more unlikely he'd have his with William. Well, whatever. He was also slightly bummed that he didn't know anyone else in the class well. He a couple familiar faces, but he didn't consider them friends. He would only be taking with them because he knew them slightly more than others in the class, complete strangers.

Sounds like a good idea. And i'm glad it got fixed ^^ Thanksgiving break has finally started i'm so excited ;-; )
Yawning, Will leaned back against his chair and pressed his back against it. A satisfying crack went up his spine as he stretched himself over the back. Thankfully no one was sitting behind him yet. Rubbing his eyes Will shifted his scarf slightly and moved back to where he could open his bag and pull out the folder he had decided to use for this class. It was a simple black folder, nothing special like other students would use.

β³ yes! Hope your thanksgiving was good!! }}
Lux pulled out one of the many blue folders he possessed that was not yet occupied. He pulled out a similarly colored notebook. It was single subject; he didn't expect many notes even for the health portion of the class. He sighed heavily; one more class to survive. He didn't know if that made the hour longer or shorter.

I had a good break ^^ How was yours? Anything fun happen?)
The teacher walked in and started quickly. They were an older looked man with grey hair and small glasses, definitely one of those who's bad side you didn't want to get on "Quiet down. I'm going to get right to it." he went through the disclosure. This was all fine and dandy until he said another thing "As part of this class the principal wanted us to do something to get your two schools closer together. We will be doing a group project. Normally I wouldn't do this. Its usually for the child care class... but that doesn't matter. When we get more into the year we will be drawing names and the pair, made of one from each school, will be taking care of a 'child.'" he made air commas as he said this.
Will scowled. There were many reasons why he had not taken that class, but it turns out that it was going to get to him anyways. Quickly removing the look of disappointment from his face he replaced it with a more bored or neutral expression.
(You ok with putting that one first? I just chose one of the suggestions ^^; )

β³ mine was good. We played games and such and at night some people went for Black Friday shopping No no it's good I think the idea will be very hilarious. their baby will either die a horrible death within the first hour or be the best, most cared for, perfect baby of the class }}
Lux almost snorted. They had to take care of a baby for this class? And they weren't going to have to be single parents? Hm⦠so he'd be paired with a human to raise a fake baby. He looked around the class briefly. Yes, the ratio was pretty even; that must've been for this reason. Well, even so, he'd probably either leave the baby to the human or hog it himself⦠depending on whether they were competent or not. Then again, it'd probably be the latter.
Luckily this class was almost over. The class had kind of dispersed into complaining and chatter after the announcement.

Sounds fun! We just hung out with family for an hour or two.) They would totally be torn between having to work together and getting a good grade, or fighting and failing. It'll be hilarious XD)
A child? And a fake, probably programmed one at that. This was a terrible idea. Maybe he would get paired up with a cool vampire. The only ones he had actually met were Lux and his friend. Humming softly he leaned back in his chair and counted the students. It was split evenly among humans and vampires, but there was a difference in genders. There were a few more males than females. Not that it would be a problem. He didn't have a problem with himself at least. As long as he got paired up with someone who cared enough it didn't matter if they were male or female.
Glancing over to Lux he tried to read the others expression. Something told him they were thinking close to the same thing. Good grades and knowledge would get you places. They both realized that and would do nearly anything for a good grade and the pursuit of knowledge. Shrugging he waited for the bell to ring.

ⳠThere was really only one reason he wanted to be paired up with a girl more than a boy for the project: he thought one might be either more fitted for the project or more likely to take it seriously. Another boy might take it⦠wrong and blow off the project. He didn't want that.
Anyway, it was a long ways off. There were better things to think about, the bell reminded him. In fact, it was time to ski! He'd just have to stop by his dorm for his skiing clothes.

Will walked out of the class, displeased. He wouldn't be getting out of skiing no matter what he said. He really should just focus on not making himself a fool. Shouldering his bag he walked back to his room, then to the school store where he could rent ski gear. When he returned to the hallway he was met with a grin from Seth "I'm glad you didn't chicken out." Will could only roll his eyes and walk past him.

β³ Lux got back to his room and changed. He wasn't bothered that his roommate was nowhere to be found; he liked having the room to himself for a bit. After gathering his things, he then made his way to the ski lift line. Even if Seth, his date, and William didn't come for a while, he'd enjoy himself and get a little warm-up in before he got to totally school William at skiing.
There were four courses, two being "beginner's level" but with different paths. The third was intermediate, and the last, of course, was "master level" and said to actually be very hard. Considering he'd gone down the third path so often he knew it like the back of his hand, he was considering going down the really hard path. However, if he was going to get seriously hurt, he didn't want it to be before he got to show off. Then again, which would be worse: not being able to follow through on his words or wiping out in front of William?

Will stood at the top of the lift, wiggling a bit on his skis like a new born lamb. Cursing under his breath he remembered what he had read and tried to apply it. This only helped in making him look like he knew what he was doing. While standing still. And focusing intently on the ground. Moving was a whole nother problem. He had heard that the hard ski run hadn't been gone over yet and was still covered in powder. Apparently that was really good? He wouldn't be touching the harder runs. Instead he would go down the easiest, prove he could do something, and head back to the dorms.

β³ When Lux got to the top, he was delighted to spot William there as well, concentrating on his stance, it seemed. Using his ski poles, he managed to slide over to William without too much effort stomping about. It was easier to push himself than lift his feet with the skis on, anyway.
"Taking a breather? Or are you just getting started?" he teased, though he was certain William couldn't have already done enough to need to rest. He didn't seem tired at all. In fact, it looked like he hadn't gone down once yet. That was good for Lux; he really wanted to see William's horrible failure of a first try. He was probably too proud to ask for help or tips. At least, not from Lux himself.

Will cursed internally as Lux slid over, doing it with irritating ease. He straightened and looked up at him, trying for a confident smirk "Just checking out the trails." he nodded to a sign nearby listing them all. Thankfully that was there or else he wouldn't have had an excuse to be still "What about you? I haven't seen you go down anything yet? For someone with your self proclaimed skill I'm sure one of the hardest trials won't be a problem." he was hoping to get Lux to go down first, then he would go down an easy one and call it a day.

Lux grinned, looking towards the tempting path. "Not yet. No one has. I was going to be the first, but I wouldn't want to leave you stumbling down the baby path alone," he retorted. "If you need it, I'll hold your hand." He used a childish voice to emphasize William's inability to ski.
"Go ahead and ski already. I want to see what you can do," he challenged. He was quite smug when he wasn't even that great himself. Half of the people here could probably go down the intermediate path with ease; everyone was just either too scared for the hard path or didn't want to be the first and embarrass themselves.

Ok, sounds like a plan. Are we still going to do the Will gives Lux blood so he heals enough to get them out, even though vampires aren't supposed to drink from humans directly?)
"Sounds like your not willing to go down one while I'm watching. For talking to big you haven't shown anything to prove that skill." to emphasize his words he pushed over to the harder trails and gestured down them. There was no way he would be able to do it himself. Thankfully he had manged to get over without too much struggle. Will felt like he was starting to get the hang of it.
Skiing might be fun, but the fact he was out in the snow was too much for him to enjoy. Even just standing here made him want to curl up in his bed, under his covers.

β³ yeah sounds good. he will be total hero more like lux steals it but shh sharing is caring too }}
Lux grinned watching William pushing himself over the the trail. "You're so determined to see me go first⦠I guess I could give you a few pointers as I go down, but you'd have to come along," he taunted, sliding into place beside William. He stuck his pole into the snow in front of him, leaning out to look at the trail. He couldn't see very far, but the beginning didn't look too hard. Maybe it was just very curvy or something.
He glanced over at William with the sudden idea to push him down the trail. No, it wouldn't be nice⦠but the snow was fresh, and he probably wouldn't get far before he fell or something. Besides, if Lux went down, William might just walk down or ride the lift down and claim he went down a different path instead.

sharing is caring XD)
Will felt a blanket of dread wash over him. Not really the blanket he was hoping for. Something in Luxs' face made him worry. It wasn't like was going to do anything to Will... was there? The worst he could do was push him down. Scratch that. Getting pushed down would be pretty bad for him. Perhaps he should start moving back, just in case. Stabbing a stick into the ground he made a slow movement backwards, hoping to ward off any ideas of pushing him off. "I don't need pointers from someone like you."
|

|
Post by Gengar on Nov 28, 2016 19:15:17 GMT -5
β³ At this point, William definitely suspected him of something (hence the backing up.) Who was Lux to prove him wrong? In fact, it only made the thought all the more tempting. "Pointers? What was I thinking? You just need some encouragement, right?" He smiled maliciously and used both ski poles to give himself a big push. It was enough to get some momentum towards William, so he both pushed and grabbed William, dragging them both towards the beginning of the trail. And of course, as they got to the point of no return, Lux slid away and pushed again to gain some speed. If he left William in the dust, there would be no way he could say Lux was all bark and no bite again.

Will yelped and cursed, flailing around trying to get his balance. "Lux you m-" anything he was going to say way cut off as a billow of snow flew into his face. Wonderful. Simply wonderful. Finally finding his balance Will looked around in a panic. The trees were wiping by much too fast. He narrowly managed to avoid said tree. This move took him veering to the left where Lux was also going down.

β³ Lux laughed. "This is actually pretty fun!" he thought to himself. "It isn't that--" "Oh damn!" he cursed, veering widely to the right to avoid a tree, then to the left again so he wouldn't have to jump off the snow drift placed for those trying to get some air, which he'd rather not. "Don't get close to me!" he shouted at William, sparing a second to look back at him. "We'll crash. Try to stay on that-- s***!" He did his best to slow himself down, but the path was very steep. The fresh snow only helped to hide the smaller rocks underneath it, though they weren't very fun to run over. When he ducked to avoid tree branches, snow fell all over him. It was getting less fun by the second.

Will screeched and tried to duck away as branched lashed across his face. When they got out of the trees there was a large log in the way. No way to avoid it. He didn't have much time to react, he was still blinded by the snow. The most he could see was a blurry log and a fair amount of rocks around it. Great...

β³ Lux laughed, almost bursting into tears when he saw what was coming. He had a little more time to prepare because he didn't have as much snow on his goggles (being in front helped.) "Who puts a log on a ski trail?!" he cried. Was he expected to jump over that? Levitate himself with God-sent powers? Sprout wings and fly? He glanced at William, who seemed to be prepared just to, what, tumble over it? Hit it and roll? He wasn't even going to slow down?
Then he realized, to his great irritation, that William probably didn't even know how to stop. At least he knew how to slide down a hill pretty well, or even stay on top of his skiis for that matter. With only a few seconds to react-- of course, why would they put anything in plain sight that you might need a good while to prepare for-- he took a sharp turn to the right, praying his skiis didn't pop right off, and also hoping he turn so much that he was behind William.
"Turn your damn skis!" he hissed, knocking into him and (hoping) it would force him to slow down just seconds (if that) before impact. It was better than a log, okay, and even then they were still going to hit it, but it was better that William wouldn't just be going straight at it.
