β³ I shouldn't be smiling at that, Lux thought to himself, but it was hard not to at least quirk an eyebrow. "Betrayed by your own friend," he remarked. Not true. Maya would say much worse any day; she spoke her mind for sure, and maybe even if she did think of him as a friend she'd make up insults just to make sure his ego wasn't too big.
"Well, what an honour I have that the Great William is willing to squabble with me," he mocked. He was, of course, being sarcastic, but it was the least he could do as the teacher stood up to gather their attention, a last jab.

Will narrowed his eyes and glanced between the two of them, not sure who he wanted to snap at. Right as he decided on the vampire he opened his mouth only to have his words cut off by the teacher. They stood and started to speak, stopping anything he was planning to say in its tracks. He planned this. Will muttered silently to himself, looking at the vampire once more. Shaking his head he tried to let it go. He would have his chance to get back at him. He would be sure of it.
The first day of school was no different than other schools. They went over disclosures and what the class would be like through the year. The teacher was no different then the usual bright eyed and bushy tailed teachers you'd occasionally get. That's was unlikely to last long. No teachers ever did.

β³ The first class was, as always, boring. Lux hated going over the calendar and class syllabus; every class had the same one. The only difference was the occasional change on late work policies or what percent of the grade the exams would be. Otherwise, every teacher said the same things: bring your stuff to class, be a good person, no cellphones (if they even worked well up here,) etc etc.
It was harder, even, because he kept sneaking glances at William. The teacher seemed to be excited for the year ahead. Lux wasn't. It wasn't like he hated Calculus or anything, but now he had competition. In a way, he knew it'd be fun to beat William in class, but it was also like "ugh I might actually have to study" since he didn't want to take the chance and let William get a better grade. He had to keep up appearances.

Will continued to watch the teacher move around class. She was animated as she gestured to things hanging from the walls and discussing things with the students who cared enough to speak. Thankfully the bell rang an freed them. Sighing, Will stretched and leaned back against the chair. His back cracked nicely and he sat back up, stretching his arm above his head. Sitting still was hard, but necessary for school. Looking over to his friend he said "At least she's excited about it. For now." Seth rolled his eyes and laughed at the comment.

β³ William watched and listened only half the period, and usually with only mild interest. At least she was moving; stagnant, lifeless teachers were the worst. It was just too tempting to drift off into sleep at their monotone voices. Most vampire teachers were as such; living as long as they had, it was easy for them to stand still and speak for extended times. William loathed them; did they know how boring that was? Did they care?
He picked up his books as the bell rang, scooping them into his bag and standing, stretching. He loomed momentarily over William's desk. "Well, see you tomorrow then," he said before grinning and walking away. He paused by Maya's desk, letting her get the last of her things.

Will glanced back at Lux and nodded, simply being polite. Turning to Seth he fell into step beside his friend and walked out of the room. The next couple classes would probably match this one, only differing with the teacher. First days were easy. (What would you like to do now? There are a couple routes we can take. Do you have anything specific in mind?)

Hmm either one would work. I suppose we should choose based on how fast we want the timing to go. If we want them to get closer faster it would be best to have them interact a lot. Maybe have something to do with blood? Like and injury of sorts. That could be incorporated later.)

Ohhh that would be a fun idea! I'd totally be up for rping it. Lunch will work.)
The classes dragged on as the day continued. There were only a few, but considering it was the first day things should be easier than this. Will found his mind wandering. He thought about what had happened up to this point. The sound of a bell shook him from his trance and he looked at the time. It was almost time for lunch. Before he could get out of the room though he was called up by the teacher.
When he finally made it to the lunch room he realized there were very few places to sit left.

β³ Lux didn't do much in any of his later classes either. He mostly zoned out, occasionally having to give up his name and a "fun fact" about himself, whatever that meant. He usually went with the fact he'd been in student government since the 7th grade. Some already knew this fact, but it was good for the humans to know.
After two more classes, it was finally time for lunch. Students were only allowed to sit in the grand cafeteria hall with beautiful wooden tables, but he saw some had already snuck outside to eat while it was (relative to the rest of the school year) still warm. He had gotten some warm bloodβ by the smell of it, dog's bloodβ and gone to sit with Maya and one or two other friends with the same lunch. There were some open seats at the end of the table, since they didn't take up the whole thing.

Will sighed and eventually sat down at the end of a table with a few seats left. He didn't take the time to notice the others sitting at it. Seth was talking up a storm with some girls on the other side of the cafeteria and Will didn't want to get mixed up with that. Of course he had other friends, but it didn't seem right. Leaning against his hand he watched his friend make a fool out of himself, but still somehow manage to get the girls laughing. He raised an eyebrow and sipped from the juice box in his hand.
He considered himself pretty outgoing, but would be careful with his words and actions. Making a mistake would hurt his chances of being president, and most of all his pride. Some mistakes could be dealt with, but messing up socially was something that could be incredibly hard to fix.

β³ Maya was probably the first to notice William sitting down at their table, considering Lux was having an intense thrums wrestle with his friend and neither was following any of the rules so far. She lightly touched his shoulder, quirking her eyebrow in that more perceptive and disappointed look. How she had never chased a higher rank among the student council, he'd never known. She had a talent for subtlety.
He pushed his friend back, pulling his thumb away. He didn't know if that meant he won or not. He took a sip of blood and licked his lips before leaning towards William with all the quietness of a tornado. "Lovely of you to join us, Lord William." Maya just smirked, but at least one of his friends laughed as he said it.

"Huh?" Will looked up and raised an eyebrow "Very funny Lux." he snorted. Straightening his posture he looked away from his friend and set down his juice, looking over the others groups carefully. He didn't trust this 'Maya' person as far as he could throw her, but the rest seemed like people he could hand pretty easily "I see you survived the first days, or half of it at least. Impressive." his words were said with a sarcastic tone, but not per say a rude one. Taking low jabs or insulting a wide variety of people wasn't his style. No, he would beat them good and fair. Whether it be by classes or simply by being a better person they would decide for themselves. Will wasn't accustomed to losing, and he wasn't going to start getting used to it any time soon.

β³ Lux chuckled. "It's not quite as much of an amazing feat for me as it must be for you, William, but yes, I have survived my first few classes. Are you finding the icebreakers a little challenging? I'd wait until the actual lectures before you start considering quitting," he chided.
Whatever Will had been staring at, Lux wasn't interested. Probably out at the snow or something. That hadn't been the direction of the windows, though. "But if you do, you wouldn't have to worry. I'd take great care of the school," he said with some sincerity. He took another sip of his "lunch." It wasn't really much for a forty-minute lunch; he was guessing the time was meant for human students who actually had to eat. Still, it was good to have a little bit of blood everyday, especially when you had to concentrate in your classes.

"I can assure you, blending into a crowd is not issue. For me. I appreciate the offer, but the school will be fine with me. I am the most qualified to be here you see." he grinned and propped his elbows onto the table. At least this time they were drawing less attention. In class the others had been looking for entertainment. Now they were at least focusing on the food in front of them. Instead of the 'chatting' classmates a few tables over.

β³ Lux shook his head. "We'll see. For your own sake, I hope that's true." Maybe William was capable of passing his classes; that didn't make him a better candidate for the student presidency, and it sure didn't mean Lux would lighten up on him.
"But what do you think of the school? Barring the terribly hard classes you've had so far," he teased. He enjoyed the skiing most of all. The convenient location was nice; all this fresh snow made skiing very easy. They'd even built a lift for the students. Of course, it wasn't open during schoolβ besides the fact they wouldn't get much business during those hours, it would encourage students to skipβ but it was open both before, after, and all weekend.

"Boring at best. But that's to be expected of the first day." Will replied, crossing his arms and resting them on the table "I'm sure it's safe to assume that you feel the same?" most enjoyed first days. Will found them a waste of time. He would have liked to jump right in and get it done. Dragging things out wasn't really his style. Someone walked in from the outside area and a breath of cold air wafted into the room. A chill went up his spin and Will snuggled down into his scarf, a scowl reaching his lips. That only lasted for a moment though as he was soon back to his confident looking self.

β³ Lux pouted. "You are safe to assume the same," he agreed. At least they could agree on that; both were the type that would rather not have days of nothing. While Lux liked freetime, school was not the places. He was in his classes to learn, not goof around. Now, after school, that was another story. He glanced in the direction of the door as someone walked in, allowing a draft of cold air to come in with them. Many other students saw this as well; there was a collective groan came from those nearest to the door.
Lux wasn't surprised by the human's reaction; he didn't like the cold either, but he was used to it. Really, overheating was worse. Furthermore, he decided not to tease William about it just in case he was dared into doing something stupid out in the cold. He could imagine now-- "oh, you like the cold then? Why don't you sleep outside?" He wasn't bothered by the cold, but he knew it wasn't any fun be outside longer than he needed to be.

Will laughed softly as a groan rose from the tables near the doors, thankfully the open chairs had not been on the tables by the door. "Thankfully the day will be over soon and things will get more serious. Classes will start. And the student council will be chosen." he gave the vampire a sly smile "You are excited for that as well yes?" Will knew that Lux and him would be the two candidates for the president. It made sense.

β³ "What? For being elected? Of course," he grinned. "But it won't be for a while. They probably won't let us start our campaigns for a few weeks." They wanted everyone to settle into the school before they let anyone run; they didn't want species to be on the mind when people voted. However, for Lux, he wouldn't be settled until he could start campaigning again... Until he won. He wondered if anyone else would try running; he'd have to make sure he didn't have any competition from any other vampire. If William didn't think to do the same with his own competition, that would only mean a better chance for Lux.
"What if I don't win? After all this talk..." he thought to himself, still watching William. What would William do if he didn't win? "Well, whatever he would do, I'll do it better. I'll lose so gracefully everyone will wish I was the student president." Seemed like a... good plan.

"It'll be interesting to have a rival for once." Will mused "Everyone knows I have what it takes and never tried to go against me. Though I'm sure you'll do fine. Even if you don't win." the idea of losing never occurred to Will, even now when he had a rival that was originally a president as well. No. Losing was not an option.

β³ Lux nodded. "Likewise of yourself. Despite our differences, I hope you do well. Winning over and over without even trying gets boring." That statement was only slightly exaggerated; on one hand, he had won over and over. He did put some effort into it, though, and he did not find it boring. "But rest assured I will be winning, William," he retorted, grinning. He liked William's rash boldness; he wasn't going to win.

Will just raised an eyebrow. His expression said 'I'd like to see you try'. "Hey Will!" Seth, who had a girl by his side, came running over "This is Brooke! She accepted to go on a date with me. What do you think we should do? Skiing? Drive back to town?" they both laughed and chatted between themselves.
Sighing Will rolled his eyes and watched as they talked. Obviously they wouldn't need his help. He was the last person you would want to talk to about dating. As president he made sure not to date. Starting rumors would hurt his reputation. He shrugged.

β³ Lux just gave him a smirk in return to his challenging look. It wasn't as if he were going to back down. He was going to win, of course, but seeing a human run would be cute, and good for moral or something.
He turned to Seth, who had walked up to them with some girl, asking where he should go for a date. "Definitely skiing. I highly recommend it," he offered, winking at the girl. He turned back to William. "You should try skiing here as well. Their courses are very good." He suggested.

Will scowled at the thought, but Seth brightened at the idea "I love skiing! Great idea!" he nudged Will "This guy is pretty cool. Hey Brooke, what do you think?" Brooke smiled kindly and nodded "I think it will be fun. I've only gone a few times though..." Seth made sure to assure her that he would help her. He then turned to Will "You need to get out more. I can't believe you didn't think of that."
"Yeah yeah." Will rolled his eyes again and flicked his hand dismissively "You can go and have fun out in the snow. I'll stay inside and do literally anything else."

β³ Lux patted his shoulder. "No, you should go skiing as well! It's a lot of fun. They have some hills for practice if you think you'll need it," he assured Will. He would probably be skiing this afternoon as well. It was going to be one of the few schooldays that he didn't have homework, so he had to take advantage of it while he still could.
"It'd be a shame if our once and future king was too scared to do a little skiing," he goaded. If there was one thing he knew he was better at then William for sure, it was skiing.

"I'm not afraid!" Will snapped, eyes narrowing "If you want to waste time skiing that you could be studying, feel free. But, since you seem to think I am incapable of it. I will join them." at Seths surprised look he said "I won't mess with your date." how hard could it be?
Will was skilled in most sports, how could this be any different? Since they would be going later today he could do some research and figure out how he would avoid making himself look like a fool.

β³ Lux allowed himself a small smile of victory. He had goaded William into skiing. Perfect. Now all he had to do was coincidentally meet them there and show William up. It would be easy considering William had probably never skied in his life. Even if Lux wasn't a pro, he was more than a novice by now.
"Great! Maybe I'll see you there, eh?" he added. He turned back to his lunch, finishing off the cup of blood. The bell probably wouldn't ring anytime soon, but Lux wouldn't be surprised if William decided to follow his friend to another seat in any case.
