we are currently CLOSED TO JOINERS βΊ welcome { intro } Hello and welcome to the one and only Oceanclan. This is a claim-a-cat roleplay, where you may claim up to four cats. This is meant to be a fun and enjoy-full roleplay, where everyone can roleplay as they please. But please keep in mind, there is a plot that will be in play until it's over and done with. Please read over the plot before joining, as well as read over the rules. That way this roleplay will run as smoothly as possible and none of us will get kicked out! Have fun!
Note: in order to join, please ping me and let me know what cats you wish to claim. I will either accept you or let you know what you need to do in order to be accepted.

post one.  βΊ rules ... i. forum rules. they apply here, and just about everywhere. please follow them. It's not hard. It will keep this roleplay from getting deleted. It'll also make everything run as smooth as possible, and we want that, don't we?
ii. activity. it isn't a MAJOR requirement here, as i am not the most active bean, but i really do try to be. I consider this roleplay a side piece for anything where you can roleplay whenever. But honestly if you haven't posted in a month you'll be deleted.
iii. literacy. i'll be honest- i don't want to force everyone to write more than they are capable of. Try to at least post three or more sentences, though. No one-liners, as those are extremely frustrating to reply to, especially if its in response to a few paragraphs. (Please. I have had it happen to me so many times.) [ note: a lot of us that are in this clan do tend to be literate to adv. literate. if you can't keep up theres no shame in not joining, or posting what you can physically manage. ]
iv. joining. this is a claim-a-cat rp. all you have to do to join is post the cats you want to claim / rp as well as the password and you're good to go (with a mods acceptance of course.) Note that you are allowed to claim up to 4 cats. If you want to claim more, please ask myself (Ross) or a mod first. (Mods listed in the member tracker). If there are no claimable cats, shoot me a dm and we'll make a cat or two for you if you wish to join while the clan is open. I do ask that you avoid claiming only cats of one gender, however, i will allow gender switching of cats if you so desire. Please note that it won't make a cat trans unless you ask that it does. (you can also make them nonbinary, idc what you do.) these cats become your characters so use them as you please. This also means relationships that are not predetermined are completely up to you as well. (Just keep me in the loop so i can update the page.)
v. LGBTQ+ Characters. DO NOT DISRESPECT ANY LGBTQ+ CATS.
Please do not be afraid to make your character and LGBTQ+friendly cat!
vi. high positions. okay, here is the deal. You are more than welcome to ask for the Leader, but i will most likely not give the character away until after, when i find someone who i can rely on. With the plot, they will be a major character, but they will be killed off soon. (please read the plot!) So, ask for it, but it will not be given right away.
***if you are gone for a month and hold a high position- and you have NO excuse, then your cats will be removed. you may join again, but you will lose that high position and possibly the cats you have claimed.***
vii. bullying+spamming. These two things are never tolerated. Bullying will be reported (only if it is OOC) and spamming is only allowed if you are calling someone to a different thread. Please do not abuse that rule, though, as if you do it too many times, I will report you. If you have done it more than five times, just like a persons post. Spamming is also for members of this thread; do not advertise, as it is spamming. Do not spam any ones likes, unless they give permission to do so. It's annoying. And do not over excessively tag them. I'm sure they got the first notification.
viii. plots and side plots. plots are to be discussed with me, and only me. That is only if it is a plot you think might be interesting for the clan. If there is a plot going on, and you want to be a part of it, please ask. If you want to add minor plots, feel free to do so. But please ask. If it is small, and wont effect the whole clan, no need to ask. But if it's something such as a fox attack, or plague, please confront me first before doing so. But please, also stick to any MAJOR plots that may be going around at the moment.
ix. password. when you post your cats on the join page please add "ocean gibbous" to your post so i know that you've read the rules.
x. have fun. this rule is as simple as it gets! Make this a fun, and enjoy-full place to roleplay! Include everyone!
xii. moderators. Mod's are here to help me keep this roleplay flowing smoothly. They are here to help you as well to be kept from getting kicked out. We have three, and they were chosen for a reason, and please respect them (respect everyone on here, for that matter). These three people will be in charge when I am unable to get on. This means that if you violate the rules or you are a candidate for getting a strike, they will inform me. If anyone of the mods abuses said "powers" PM me immediately and it will be dealt with. ( this rp has no mods yet, but when its does, they are given full permission to remove and accept people in my place where needed. )

βΊ MAIN PLOT | UNRULY DEPUTY
Marshclaw has been killing-- literally-- to get the deputy spot in Oceanclan since he had been made a warrior. Ever since he killed his brother, Beepelt, (no body knows about the vicious murder), Seastar has made the young tom deputy under his word. No cat knows of Marshclaw's evil ways, or evil thoughts. Well, except maybe a few. No cat knows of how he plans to kill Seastar and become leader of Oceanclan himself. He will succeed, but if he does, will he be granted the nine lives from Starclan? Or will they refuse him his nine lives? Or, will some cat find out about his evil ways, and kill him before it's too late?
[ basically, marshclaw succeeds at killing Seastar, but in the process, another warrior kills Marshclaw, and they become leader instead. They will choose deputy (probably one of my cats) and what not. ]

βΊ about ... { the clan info } βΊ Many moons ago a cat given the name Ocean was traveling with a few friends. They came across a beautiful beach where the waves tasted of salt, but didn't harm the cats. It was an amazing find. Ocean was happy, and felt like she could live there for decades upon decades. She recruited cats from the surrounding forest and mountains, and there, upon the beach, they made their home. No, they didn't live upon the sand, they lived closer to the mountains, in caves they called dens. Ocean received weird dreams of starry cats, telling her she was to lead this clan onto death do the whole clan part. So to this day, she was known as Oceanstar, leader of Oceanclan. She was succeeded by her son, Ripplestar. And since then, the clan grew bigger and stronger, accepting outsiders, and thanking Starclan for giving them their home by the beach and the ocean, where they live, under Seastar, as a loving clan. And, today, they still continue to grow happily.
Oceanclan is now a kind a generous clan that gives shelter to those who need it, and offers a place to anyone who wishes.
post two. βΊ oceanclan territory ... βΊ Oceanclan territory is rather large. The camp is to the Northern part of the forest, and close to the mountains.
βΊ The Greater StarFall is a freshwater river emptying into the salt water ocean, crossing it is quite hard, and only those who have practiced river jumping cross, while others use various stepping stones, and fallen branches.
βΊ The forest those, is dubbed Endless forest, where apprentices are trained in catching woodland creatures.
βΊ Some cats tend to going swimming in the ocean and occasionally catch fish.
On the South side of the river, up the beach and close to the water, when the level is down low, the Star Cave is used as meeting place for the medicine cats. It is also where the Leaders go to obtain their nine lives. Also on the side of the river, there is a training hollow on the sand where apprentices are taught to run on the sand, and battle effectively.
While on the northern side of the river, lies a hollow for the apprentices as well, to practice woodland skills such as climbing, digging and battling and hunting.
LANDMARKS ||
βΊ Sand dunes | the large piles of sand on the beach. typically avoided due to them being extremely unstable to walk on.
βΊ The Shore | Where the sea laps at the sand. Usually where the cats patrol along, or get their paws wet, and learn to swim.
βΊ Salty Trees | A groove of trees near the ocean- they are in a weird spot, but serve as a ground to aid apprentices in their skills in going from swimming immediately into climbing.
βΊ Sandy Hollow | The apprentice training area. Located inland and away from the water, into the forest.
βΊ Oak Forest | A weird forest that borders the edge of the sand, where the cats hunt forest prey.
βΊ Shark River | A salt water river that feeds into the camp.
βΊ Salty River | A river that winds through the forest and feeds into the ocean.
βΊ Salty Marshes | A marsh like area on the east side of the territory- good for frog hunting, but tends to be quite the trap for younger cats with little experience in the mash.
βΊ Two Leg Camp Site | A cleared out space in the forest a few feet from the ocean. Twolegs tend to go here during the hot seasons.
βΊ Camp | located a bit away from shore, in a ditch in the forest, hidden from view.

post two. βΊ oceanclan camp ...

βΊ Oceanclan's camp is a rather large sandy clearing in the forest, closest to the mountains. The cats live in a mixture of bramble make-shift dens, excluding the leader and Medicine cats.
βΊ The camp entrance is a dark sandy path which was walked on by previous ancestors.
βΊ Right inside in the Leaders den, a large rock with a nature-made den inside, fit for a leader and possibly two other cats, and moss bedding. Above the leaders den is a flattened, smoothed out surface of the rock, where the leaders and deputies call meetings, or watch the camp from. It over looks the whole camp and provides a very sunny spot for cats to sun bath on, and around the rock.
βΊ The streams cuts through the camp, separating the Leaders den from the Nursery, where there are large nests for queens and their kits, and expecting queens. It smells of milk and cherries within the nursery, and it is pretty warm. This den is probably the most packed with brambles to keep it warm during the cold seasons.
βΊ Protecting the Nursery of any danger, next is the Warriors den. This is a rather large den that is able to be expanded when needed. It uses dead branches to hold it up, and bramble bushes for the shelter.
βΊ By the warriors den lays a hollow covered with brambles and flowers, that is used to house the elders den. This is the second warmest den in the camp, protecting the older cats with fragile bones from the cold and harsh winters that spread chilly winds from the ocean.
βΊ Protecting and overlook the elders, comes the apprentice dens. A medium sized den with most nests littered inside. Nests tend to be a little closer, though the brambles protecting the apprentices inside are quite thickly woven to protect them from harsh winds.
βΊ And last but not least is the fallen tree, or known as the Medicine Cat's den. Inside is an herb store, which is further inside the trunk. The Darkened trunk is lit by small holes medicine cats puncture into the bark of the thick tree to claim that they slept in this den. There are two nests, and the herbs.
βΊ On the outside of the trunk is littered with many markings of fallen warriors. The trunk is also used as a play place where kits practice their climbing-- until a warrior shouts at them, or the medicine cats.
βΊ Right in the middle of the camp is the sand clearing, where the freshkill is put, and occasionally where kits and apprentices alike like to tussle and play. warriors sometimes join in.
βΊ Surrounding the whole camp is large holly bushes, and a few tree loom over the camp, protecting the cats from predators and from their freshkill being taken.
post two. βΊ important info ... { prey, season, weather } βΊ There tends to be hurricanes, which leads the cats to going further west, seeking help from their outer clans/cats "enemies."
The most common prey for the Oceanclan cats tend to be Fish, and mice, and squirrels, and birds and the occasional rabbit.
The least common prey tend to be moles, serpants (or adders) and frogs or lizards that hide in the rocks by the beach.
Common predators for Oceanclan cats tend to be Dogs, Foxes, Badgers, Hawks, and Twolegs.
The weather tends to be chilly by the water as the weather is currently New-leaf. The sky is often cloudy, and it often rains. But there is no snow, and the sun does shine quite a bit.There seems to be a light layer of fog drifting from unknown territory, making it easy to disguise scent and sight within the woodlands, making hunting easier. Prey is plentiful.

A large white tom with seafoam green eyes and a long coat. seastar was once an incredibly ambitious and leader like tom, who lived up to his title. As soon as he hit five lives, the tom began to grow lazy, lounging in his den to avoid loosing further lives from dawn til dusk. he seems to have an "i dont care, go ahead" attitude, and leaves so many things up to the deputy.

Drifttumble sat quietly on the shoreline, his paws folded beneath him. Anyone walking by might think he was gazing softly at the water ahead, pondering on his duties for the day, or perhaps his existence in this world. He was the picture oh philosophical grace and intelligence.
Really, though, Drifttumble was planning what to say to Brineshade the next time he tried to flirt. He might get shot down time and time again, but Drifttumble was nothing if not resilient. He was determined to get the large tom to at least crack a smile. The entire clan knew that he was doing his best for his young son, Breezepaw, and doing it on his own could be no easy job. Drifttumble had clocked many a she-cat eyeing the large tom with growing interest. Far be it from Drifttumble to judge them - the heart wants what it wants and all that - but he was not going to be the only one left out of the chase.
He should probably go hunt something, lest his clanmates think he shirked his duties to go sit and stare at the waves all day. Standing, Drifttumble shook out his pelt and turned, heading off to go find some prey.

H O N E Y P A W

Honeypaw hit the ground hard, letting out a small 'oof' as she did. She flicked her ear at Bumblepaw as he laughed, eyeing her littermate with barely-contained disdain. Flicking her paw along the ground, she threw sand up at him.
"Oh hush, Bumblepaw. I'd like to see you try this without stumbling. A light breeze could knock you off balance if you weren't bracing yourself," she meowed, grinning when Bumblepaw gasped in feigned offense. She wasn't wrong, of course - Bumblepaw was barely well-balanced on a good day, let alone when the winds were raging. Luckily for him, he'd showed an aptitude for healing from day one, so no one was surprised when he became Puddleheart's apprentice.
"Come on, let's go back to camp. I'm sure our mentor's will be looking for us soon enough."

Puddleheart Medicine Catβs Den | With Sharktooth (OPEN)
βSo long as you donβt put too much pressure on your paw for a few days, Iβm sure itβll heal in no time at all,β Puddleheart reassured as he followed Sharktooth out of the Medicine Catβs den. The warrior had taken a bit of a stumble recently and twisted their paw. Not that Sharktooth seemed particularly concerned about this issue in the first place.
βIβm sure itβll be fine,β Sharktooth reassured with a lazy flick of their tail as they padded out of the den, their injured paw in lifted delicately off the ground. βIβve faced worse,β they added, smiling at Puddleheart with their snaggletooth stubbornly poking out of their mouth.
Puddleheart hummed softly, bending his ears back in concern. βPerhaps the better solution would be to watch your steps a little more next time, so that you donβt have to worry about facing worse,β he suggested, giving Sharktooth a pointed look.
Sharktooth shrugged in response. βMaybe the ground should just watch out for me next time,β they retaliated smugly and padded off, leaving Puddleheart behind.
Puddleheart bent his ears back in annoyance as he watched the warrior leave. He loved his job as Medicine Cat, as it was always something he felt a connection with. Even as a kit, Puddleheart had fond memories of sneaking out of the Nursery to watch the Medicine Cat work, memorizing some of the easiest treatments before he had become an apprentice. It had been no surprise when he followed this path instead of that of a warrior, and Puddleheart wouldnβt have it any other way.
β¦.Still wouldβve been nice if the warriors were just a little more careful though.

Breezepaw The Camp | With Lilykit (OPEN)
Breezepaw sat outside the apprenticeβs den, eyes flickering anxiously toward the warriorβs den, large orange eyes zeroed in on the dark entrance as he waited for his mentor to appear. He wanted to try and convince Gullspeckle to teach him some new fighting moves that he could show off to Firepawβand the other apprentices too, of course. Not just Firepaw. That said, if Firepaw happened to be there and thought it was pretty cool, Breezepaw wouldnβt be mad about it.
βFocus, Breezepaw!β he chided himself and shook his head. Firepaw aside, it was important for Breezepaw to be the best warrior he could be. He was already one of the smallest apprentices in the den, and although Puddleheart had reassured him that a growth spurt might still happen, especially given his fatherβs stature, it was a little hard not to feel like a kit amongst his peers, and that was something Breezepaw refused to tolerate. If he couldnβt match them in size, he would make up for it in being the best warrior OceanClan had ever seen. Just like Brineshade.
Nodding to himself, Breezepaw lifted his chin and kneaded his paws against the ground, imaging himself as a fierce warrior, just as striking as his father. The best and most feared warrior in all of the landβ
βAre you kneading the ground?β asked a voice from behind, followed by a light, high pitched giggle. βI thought apprentices grew out of that.β
Breezepaw froze and immediately stopped moving his paws as he turned his head to spot Lilykit staring at him with wide, mischievous eyes. Breezepaw glowered, bending his ears back.
The rest of the clan might look at Lilykit and think she was some cute, precious kit.
Breezepaw knew better.
This kit was nothing short of a dark forest spirit reincarnated into a cream and orange pelt.
β¦Okay, that mightβve been a little dramatic, Lilykit wasnβt evilβprobably. But she was annoying, and Breezepaw stood by that.
Wrinkling his nose at her, Breezepaw turned away, huffing through his nostrils. βIβll have you know, I wasβ¦I wasβ¦β Breezepaw trailed off, searching for something to say. After a moment, he lifted his head and cleared his throat, puffing his chest out. βI was practicing a special warrior move. Itβs extremely complicated and advanced, not even fully trained warriors get it right. But you wouldnβt know that because youβre just a kit,β he explained.
Lilykit let out an overly dramatic gasp. βReally? A move that not even fully trained warriors know?β she repeated, flicking her tail in amusement as she settled in beside Breezepaw.
Breezepaw nodded, humming in response. βThatβs right!β
βSo in that case, you wouldnβt mind me asking some of the warriors about it right?β Lilykit questioned and Breezepaw froze. βAfter all, I bet some of the senior warriors know it at least, and Marshclaw and Seastar definitely would. So how about we go find one of them and ask them about this move?β
Breezepaw paused as he stared at Lilykit.
Lilykit tipped her head to the side, blinking sweetly at him.
After a moment, Breezepaw let out an annoyed puff of breath and bent his ears back. βI donβt like you.β
Lilykit beamed in response and jumped to her feed, padding back toward the Nursery. βLove you too, Breezepaw, good luck with your training!β she called out to him, a skip to her steps as she made her way back to the Nursery.
Breezepaw made a face and snorted softly. He was dreading the day she joined him in the apprenticeβs den.

B U M B L E P A W
[ medicine den & with puddleheart ] πβππ π£π
Bumblepaw huffed a laugh at something Honeypaw said as they entered camp, breaking off from her to head towards the medicine den. He noticed Sharktooth leaving, and barely stopped the roll of his eyes. Among the warriors, Sharktooth and Drifttumble seemed the most adept at injuring themselves in way that really shouldn't be possible. Perhaps their only rival was Honeypaw, Bumblepaw's twin sister.
"Good morning, Puddleheart," Bumblepaw meowed, grinning at his mentor. He'd grown particularly fond of Puddleheart in their time together, and was still hardly able to believe he'd actually been selected as the medicine cat's apprentice. "Let me guess - the ground attacked Sharktooth first?" he purred. His pale ginger fur rustled as he shook himself, stretching his legs out.

Puddleheart
Puddleheart let out a soft purr in greeting as his apprentice joined him. βGood morning, Bumblepaw. Where did you run off to? I didnβt see you in the den earlier,β he explained and flicked his tail toward the medicine cat den behind him, pausing only once Bumblepaw mentioned Sharktooth.
βAh yes,β Puddleheart agreed and rolled his eyes, shaking his head. βThey suggested that next time, the ground should watch out for them instead,β he explained and sighed. βWho wouldβve thought that the biggest threat to OceanClanβs warriors wouldβve been themselves,β he joked, flicking his tail in amusement.

Mantasplash | the shore | open
There was nothing like a good swim to get the motivational juices flowing. Mantasplash was very fond of the water, and she was quite the skilled swimmer, ask anyone else in the clan and they'd likely agree. She spent much of her free time near the shoreline or by the multiple rivers snaking across their territory. Not only did she enjoy her time spent in the water, but she also took the time to hunt. It was a win win.
Speaking of hunting, there were a few fish placed on the shore a few feet away from where she was currently playing in the water. They were placed carefully so as to not get swept up by the tide and deeper water, but close enough that the chilled water would still run over them in the shallows. She'd just caught the second one on the pile, so it was back to looking around. At least that's what she'd tell anyone that happened by. In reality she was simply enjoying the cool water and time to play around. She may be a Warrior, but she was still young Warrior and that meant she still played around like an apprentice with the best of them.
Rookpaw | camp | with Sharktooth πβππ π£π
With Sharktooth out of commission due to their injured paw, Rookpaw was bored. He was currently sat inside the Apprentices Den, getting ready to head out into the main camp. Because his mentor wasn't likely going to be able to do much, he had to wonder what he'd be doing in the meantime. If he was put on elder duty... well, Rookpaw wasn't above holding grudges. He yawned and stood up, shaking out his dark fur and heading towards the entrance of the den.
As he exited, he noticed Sharktooth leaving the Medicine Cat den and decided to walk over and intercept the other. Rookpaw dipped his head slightly in greeting and asked "How is your injury?" Sharktooth was pretty laid back for a warrior, they certainly had a different style than many of the other warriors in the camp. Rookpaw had yet to decide if he liked it or not. Perhaps the warrior had been paired with him due to his more serious and quiet nature.
Puffinkit | nursery | with Lilykit πβππ π£π
Puffinkit was sat in the Nursery, crouched down with her eyes trained on the entrance and her ears perked up. She was waiting, the spitting image of a trained hunter. Or, at least as trained a hunter as a kit could look. While her fluffy fur littered with leaves and twigs could perhaps have hidden her in the forest, at the moment she stood out like a sore thumb. A kit that look like she lost a fight with a bush tended to do so. But none of that mattered at the moment. She was waiting for someone to enter the Nursery so she test out her new attack! Though, if it took much longer she might just lose interest. Her attention span was as flighty and inconsistent as a birds.
Thankfully her carefully - not really - thought out plan came to fruition as her sister entered the den. With a loud yowl she tackled Lilykit, "Got you!" Puffinkit rolled off the other and shook out her now even dustier fur "What were you doing? Did you go and talk with Breezepaw? Anything interesting happening in camp?" she rapid fired questions, wanting to hear all about her sisters little trip outside the Nursery.

Sharktooth
Sharktoothβs ears perked as they spotted their apprentice walking up to them. βItβs as good as new! In fact, Puddleheart thinks Iβm completley back to normal,β they lied, and if to prove their point, they pressed down on the injured paw, resisting the urge to wince as pain shot up their leg. βSee?β Sharktooth asked, smiling at Rookpaw. βGood as new.β
It was probably stupid to lie, but Rookpaw was Sharktoothβs first apprentice. They didnβt want to mess this up, and even if it mightβve been better to rest their paw, Sharktooth figured that if they ignored the pain long enough, it would probably go away.
Looking down at Rookpaw, Sharktooth flicked their tail behind them. βI was thinking we could do some training todayβso long as Marshclaw doesnβt want us on any patrols. How does that sound?β they questioned, tipping their head to the side.

Lilykit
As soon as Lilykit entered the nursery, she was attacked and let out a squeal, batting her sister away with her paws. βPuffinkit, youβre going to get me all dirty!β Lilykit complained as she wiggled free of her sisterβs grasp and quickly began grooming herself. She couldnβt stand getting dirty, and it made Lilykit dread her slowly approaching apprentice ceremony. Being a warrior meant getting dirty, and Lilykit was not ready to get all up close and personal with the rest of the filthy apprentices.
Speaking of apprentices thoughβ¦
At the mention of Breezepaw, Lilykit nodded, licking her paw. βHeβs so funny and he pretends he doesnβt like me, itβs such a fun game,β she commented with a light giggle. In a way, Breezepaw felt like an older brother to her, especially with how often his fatherβBrineshade was in the nursery, and where Brineshade went, Breezepaw was usually quick to follow.
Letting out a dramatic sigh, Lilykit craned her neck back to look at Puffinkit. Talking to him is the only interesting thing that ever happens in camp though,β she added and flicked her tail in annoyance as she sat down and glanced toward the entrance of the nursery. βI wish we could get out and see beyond the camp, just to explore, not to fight or hunt like the apprentices.β
