After receiving a shocking prophecy, the four warrior cat clans are shaken by chaos and tragedy. In a single night all four are ravaged by the elements, destroying their home, their kin, and their clans. The few survivors are forced to find new homes, without leader or medicine cat to guide them and are called upon to forget their histories as rivals in order to work together. Without the rules and boundaries that gave them purpose, can the cats travel to unknown lands and find the land that was prophesied? Or will they be their own downfall?

Four Clan's Map Click for large version Four Clan's Territory Division Click for large version The four clans have lived in their territories beneath the mountains for as long as the oldest elder can remember. Nestled between the curve on a ridged mountain wall and Twoleg territory, they've lived in relative safety and general peace.
The four clans are as follows:
Stoneclan: A clan of agile cats whose territory is the most varied, though suffer the most intrusion from twolegs.
Mireclan: Though they have the smallest territory, it is also the most plentiful, and the cats brought up here are lightfooted in the mud and natural swimmers.
Meadowclan: With the safety of the tall grass to hide them, these cats can move through dense brush without making a sound and their territory has a wide variety of prey that makes this skill a requirement.
Brambleclan: These hardy cats have survived drought, harsh weather, lack of prey. Often seen as the most vicious of the clans, for although they have the largest territories, it is the harshest to survive.A Deeper Look at the ClansStoneclan- Territory: Stoneclan live in a varied territory with just enough resources to go around. They've claimed the area of Sunning Rocks just beyond one of the small creeks that marks an edge of Mireclan's borders. There is a small stretch of grassland that quickly turns into dry prairie. On the left edge of this prairie the grass falls away to flat earth and stone until it hits the tall cliffs. On the southern edge of the prairie and grassland sparse trees turn into a thin forest. Within this forest twolegs can often be found as well as the occasional monster. To the far north Stoneclan cats can follow a ledge between the a small river and the stone wall to reach the Gathering area.
- Camp: Stoneclan cats have made a home in an abandoned twoleg quarry that they call the Rockpit. Though this isn't a well hidden camp, it is easily defendable for the agile cats of this clan. Various winding tunnels and ledges give them plenty of advantage over intruders and they are always moving the camp around to different areas to make it less predictable. During the rain season, it isn't uncommon for the base of the quarry to fill with water, providing them with easy drinking water though often forcing them to higher ground.
- Common Strengths & Virtues: These cats are quick and great climbers. Their tough paw pads make it easy for them to traverse across difficult terrain. These cats are often stern but fair, and have great sense for directions due to how often they find themselves exploring tunnels and caves.
- Common Weaknesses & Detractors: Despite having grasslands in their territory that brings mice and birds, they aren't the quietest of cats and struggle to hunt these prey. They are also proud felines, who rarely have to ask for help from other clans and almost never do even when they need it. Eagles and hawks often roost within or near Stoneclan's territory and pose a serious threat to any cats. The occasional mountain lion and two leg have also intruded upon their camp.
- Prey: Mostly snakes, lizards, and frogs. Eggs are dangerous to attempt to snatch, but not uncommon prizes as well as bats. Also found in their territory are field mice, shrew, squirrels, rabbits, and fish.
- Leader: Shadowstar. The oldest current leader and a battle hardened warrior. His greatest feat is often told that when he was still an apprentice, he took down an eagle who had been eyeing their camp by climbing above it and pouncing before it could take off. He has three lives remaining.
Mireclan- Territory: A small, dense and boggy swampland make up the entirety of Mireclan's territory. Tall roots and fallen logs make it only a little easier to traverse. Foggy, deep pools of water are found spread throughout the wetlands. Just before the two outer rivers that mark the edges of their territory between them and Stoneclan and Meadowclan are patches of mostly dry grassland. A large lake can be found on their southern end, this is often swarming with twolegs though they hardly ever venture into the swamp. On the northern tip, the river cuts between the swamp and the Mountain Step.
- Camp: Somewhere deep in the mucky bog a copse of fallen and rotted trees offer safety from the wet land below and most of the elements. Hollowed out logs offer shelter for sleeping dens and a place to store fresh kill. A particularly large stump give cats a place to address the camp.
- Common Strengths & Virtues: Excellent swimmers and fishers. Some cats are born with webbed paws that aid in swimming but also walking through the muddy land without sinking. Even cats without this evolution are exceptionally light footed and can maneuver through the bogs with hardly any trouble. They are not often aggressive cats and hardly have to defend their territory due to how difficult it is for other clans to manage. In fact they're seen as the most friendly and good natured on average.
- Common Weaknesses & Detractors: The biggest problem posed to Mireclan cats is the same thing that keeps them safe. During the rainy season, waters raise and pose great risk to even the strongest and healthiest of warriors. The wet and sometimes humid temperatures can often cause wounds to easily turn sour. Their good natured personalities often easily give way to a lack of seriousness and discipline. This can be seen as annoying to other clans when dealing with serious situations... or when a mireclan cat watches one of them try to catch a fish.
- Prey: Fish and amphibians make the majority of their kill pile, though water fowl, water vole, and muskrats are not at all uncommon. Snakes are difficult to chase down, even for Mireclan cats but not impossible. You can also find some rodents and birds.
- Leader: Crowstar. The second oldest leader, though he certainly doesn't act like it. Laid back and good humored, it's hard to believe him a capable leader especially one who has lived as long as he has without losing a single life. Though most elders who knew him as a kit are now passed into Starclan, stories are still told of how when he was a kit, he somehow escaped camp and found his way to the Lake. After being chased by dogs he somehow outmaneuvered them by using the swamp to his advantage... before promptly being picked up a patrol and scolded by his mother.
Meadowclan- Territory: A large stretch of field make up the entirety of their territory, giving them plenty of cover against most outside threats like twolegs and weather and making it difficult to traverse without getting turned around if you dont know the land. There are a light speckle of trees on their Southern edge that separate their territory from a twoleg field where large, smoke belching monsters often roam. The grass is the least dense on the Northern side between the field and the gathering area. Beyond this the only defining feature of the field is a very tall and very old tree that sits in it's center with a few rocks around it. The river marks the edge of their territory between them and Mireclan save for a small indent of land that is often debated over though it hardly comes to blows.
- Camp: Meadowclan's camp is found at Skytree, the large tree that sits in the center of the field. Once in it's life a rough storm nearly tore the tree from the ground, causing it to lean to the side and exposing some of it's roots. It is here, among the roots and well placed brambles that Meadowclan lives. Though the most obvious camp, it offers the only proper shelter for kits and elders in the dense field. Cats have flattened and torn the grass in a semi circle around the exposed roots and surrounded it with rough brush and tangled grass. Tall boulders give them plenty of vantage points and cats make their dens among the roots on soft nests of grass.
- Common Strengths & Virtues: These cats are best known for their grace and silence. Able to track prey in the dense grass and traverse with hardly a sound. This usually makes them some of the best hunters. Within their own territory they utilize ambush tactics on other cats, using the grass to their advantage and surrounding intruders to confuse their noses. These cats are clever hunters and fighters, knowing when a fight isn't worth it and not often willing to take too many risks.
- Common Weaknesses & Detractors: It isn't too often than large, bulky cats are found in Meadowclan, which means they're usually smaller and more lithe. Because of this outright shows of strength aren't common here and they tend to avoid fights that aren't in their favor or within the safety of the grass. This makes things difficult with the more battle-ready Brambleclan on their right side. Though there are some trees within their borders, they are also not the greatest of climbers compared to the other clans. Due to the farm on their southern side, twolegs and dogs often trample through the field to hunt. Foxes pose another common threat.
- Prey: A variety of small mammals and birds can be found in plentiful numbers here, including pheasants and rabbits. Frogs, toads, lizards and fish can be found near the river's edge. Squirrels are more common closer to the trees that separate them from the twoleg field. Snakes can be found in the grass, though they provide just as much danger to the clan cats as the cats pose to them.
- Leader: Tawnystar is a small and unassuming looking she-cat. She was chosen to be a medicine cat apprentice for her bright mind when she was young though her very sensitive nose caused her to dislike the job and happily give it up when another expressed interest. Through her cunning and quick wit she has gained the respect of the other leaders. Though not as old as most of the others, she only has three lives remaining.
Brambleclan- Territory: Despite having the largest amount of territory to roam, it is also the most desolate. It is filled with tall, sparse coniferous trees that offer little shelter and the flat, dusty ground is covered with prickling needles. The dry land has only one readily available source of water, found on it's northern end where a small waterfall leaks from somewhere above on the mountain. This place is called Highfalls and the amount it offers varies throughout the seasons. To the right of this is an inlet in the rock where a handful of abandoned twoleg nests can be found. A small thunderpath leads from these nests to beyond Brambleclan's territory. The border they share with Meadowclan is always changing as they fight over it.
- Camp: Just before Highfall and not far from the twoleg nests are a group of fallen, cut down trees where Brambleclan make their camp. Called Cuttrees, Brambleclan uses some of these abandoned logs to protect their borders and make their nests. Tallpine is a partially collapsed tree where cats address the clan. It's hanging branches also present the entrance to the den that the leader shares with the warriors.
- Common Strengths & Virtues: Born fierce and hardy, Brambleclan cats are nothing if not survivors. Their climbing skills are second only to Stoneclan and they are perhaps the best bird hunters among all the clans. They are also considered, though maybe not aloud, to be some of the physically strongest cats. Having lived difficult lives, they understand that difficult decisions must be made to for the clan to survive and do not often second guess their decisions, even if they are wrong or ruinous.
- Common Weaknesses & Detractors: Their ferocity often makes them come off as cruel and uncaring to other clan cats, though this is far from the truth. Only half of the kits born survive to become warriors, between other predators and scarce resources. Living so near to the twoleg nests and the thunderpath occasionally invites danger from wandering twolegs and other large predators like bears and mountain lions. They are almost constantly warring for territory with Meadowclan, desiring some of the field that hides good prey, though not often able to keep what they win for very long. The amount of water Highfalls offers varies throughout the seasons and can almost dry up in the dry season. During these times cats must monitor their usage. With so little cover from the sparse trees, even changes in the weather cause problems. At times it can be too hot with little shade, other times the wind is so fierce it threatens to shake the trees and blow away kits.
- Prey: Mostly birds, though the occasional mouse den can be found in some of the lower bracken. At times some mice and rabbit leave the safety of the grassland, though it is difficult to catch them before they return to Meadowclan territory (not that this deters most from chasing anyway)
- Leader: Nightstar is a sleek, young she-cat known for her cutthroat and confident decision making. She is the newest and youngest leader in the clans. Despite her age and lack of experience, she is well known for having defeated the previous leader after declaring him unfit for leadership. Though this did cause some upset to the clans, she quickly proved to be a capable leader whose decisions have helped protect her clan.

Meadowclan PrologueFires will rage, waters will rise.
Take only each other, leave behind clan and pride
Journey to where stars rain upon the land.
Mismatched eyes opened in terror, only calmed by the silence of the night. Mooneye felt his mind racing to process the foreboding dream. He could still feel the heat against his fur and the wet muk dragging at his paws like a clawing beast. A bad dream... it had to be a bad dream...
--
The smooth, lightly dappled body of Mooneye was perched in absolute stillness above a clearing. Below him, Weaselpaw was worming her long, thin body between the reeds as she sized up a nearby water vole. To her credit, she was able to maneuver her body between the river brush with the barest of sounds and Mooneye proudly remembered how clumsy and awkward she had first been when he had received her as an apprentice. The water levels had risen, bringing the shoreline up to overtake a few extra rabbit lengths of territory from Meadowclan's lands. Even Mireclan cats were struggling to move in their own borders, and they were used to the boggy lands. For just a moment, as Mooneye watched as mud released Weaselpaw's now raised paw with a soft squelching sound, he felt a brief stir of anxiety in his gut. It was quickly pushed aside however as the water vole bolted at the sound and Weaselpaw sprang.
...just a bad dream... that's all...
--
Mooneye stretched as he passed through the tall thicket of grass and bramble that marked the entrance to Meadowclan's camp. The was a deep sense of satisfaction in the warrior as he surveyed the clearing and the cats that enjoyed the waning sun together in the aftermath of the ceremony. Just outside he had left the newly named Weaseltail, Rainsong, and Patchflank to stay their vigil, excited and anxious. Across the way a silver tabby sits apart from the rest with a large grey cat beside him. The frustrated flick of Thornpaw's tail proved his agitation with Silvermane's consolation attempts. The deputy met Mooneye's gaze before she crossed the camp to him.
"Heronstar has called an emergency meeting tomorrow at the Stone flats. Just between us, them, and Boulderclan. Brambleclan wont be there. Nothing formal, so we can't count on the truce. I've informed Mistflight but Tawnystar wants you and Spottedbelly to join us in case. We believe they want to discuss the recent rise in water, but without any formal truce we can't be too cautious."
Mooneye felt his claws dig into the soft ground beneath. A gathering? Should he tell them on his dream? Silvermane cocked her head curiously at him, before all of her previous seriousness left her and she brushed against him in passing. He followed her with his one good eye, momentarily distracted from his worries.
He would decide tomorrow if he would tell the leaders his dream, he concluded. Surely it could wait.
--
Mooneye was too hot. Too stifled. Had Mothfeather or Hawkbelly lay beside him again? The former with her thick fur and the latter with his large body had occasionally made sleeping the den difficult when they tended to roll onto their sleeping clanmates.
However upon opening his eyes he discovered that he was quite apart from the other warriors. Not even Silvermane lay beside him... in fact, as his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he didn't see her at all. That was odd and he considered asking Mothfeather if she had seen her sister, but quickly shook that thought away. Despite his interest in her, it would not do for him to worry over the deputy as if she were a kit.
Mooneye lay his head back on his paws, sighing softly as he prepared once more for sleep.
... but the only thing that came to him was a strange scent.
Mooneye lifted his head towards the entrance of the den and sniffed purposefully.
Smoke. Mireclan PrologueFires will rage, waters will rise.
Take only each other, leave behind clan and pride
Journey to where stars rain upon the land.
"Hello? Is Halfpaw in there?" A mocking voice called, shaking a small tabby she-cat with green eyes and a small pink nose from her thoughts. She stared up at the source of the voice. An older tabby with a mane of fur around her slender head was staring down at her in amusement.
"Hello Duskmane," the small tabby mewed, "Is it time for afternoon training?"
The older cat purred and ran a few licks over Halfpaw's head affectionately, "Not today. Jaystar says that it's time for your naming ceremony. Firepaw as well."
The pride in Duskmane shone brightly. Both her apprentice and her own kit were becoming warriors that day. Across the camp the large tabby apprentice was sharing tongues happily with his own mentor. Halfpaw was happy for him, especially since... Halfpaw glanced at Duskmane again before banishing the thought.
"Oh... good. When are we meeting?" she asked in her small voice.
"As soon as the patrol returns," the older cat answered before continuing, "We were all impressed by your tracking skills today."
Halfpaw could feel her body pulling in on itself self consciously at the compliment. She wanted to feel excited at the news, but was finding it difficult with all the worrying thoughts clouding her mind. Duskmane thankfully didn't seem to notice as she continued to give anxious licks to Halfpaw's already neat fur.
Halfstep had been restless and was thankful that their vigil required silence after catching Firethroat's excited glances once or twice. She didn't want to talk about their new futures as warriors of Mireclan and she wasn't sure she could bother pretending to share her clanmate's enthusiasm. Her mind was still on the echoing words of her dream from the previous night.
It had to be a message from Starclan and if it were, then it seemed straightforward to her, even if some of it still made little sense.
The clans were in grave danger.
While she had been hunting earlier she had noted the smell of twolegs on their southern border, farther from the lake than was usual... and of more numbers than usual. Square, yellow leaves with black markings had been stuck to trees and they had stabbed sticks with the same black markings into the ground where there were no trees. While this may be something unsettling to most, there were greater worries in Mireclan. The waters had risen so high that most of the clan had to leave their usual dens for even higher ground. There were talks that if the water levels didnt return to normal soon, they may have to find a new camp entirely. And when the rainy season came, they may not have a place to stay at all within their territory.
Of course while that spelled grave danger to her own clan, it wasn't exactly a serious problem for the others. They all had high places to escape wet paws and even if the mire was flooded and spread into the nearby lands, it wouldn't cover the entirety of their hunting grounds.
So why had her dream seemed to imply that all of the clans were in trouble? And what had it meant by fire? Halfstep had a feeling that the twoleg's disturbance in the mire had some part to play in this.
Halfstep paused mid-sniff, body going absolutely still. The scent of muskrat she had been following had been replaced with fresh kill. Damp moss quieted Halfstep's light paws as she took a few cautious steps forward, searching for any hint of her clanmates in the area. Instead she picked up on an unfamiliar scent.
Suddenly a powerful blow knocked Halfstep off balance and into the mud, a heavy body pinning and sinking her further down. She yowled and struggled, though her paws only slid further against the slick earth.
"Tallshadow!" The body above her stilled, teeth pausing at her throat. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a large, tabby tom step out from the brush, "How adder-riddled is your brain. Let her up before you cause trouble!"
"So she can sound the alarm?" the tom growled back in agitation.
The males stared at each other, willing dominance over the other to back down. Halfstep didn't dare move or even breath too quickly.
"She could deliver our message," the unknown male said evenly, "She could know mother."
That seemed to convince him and she felt the weight ease, though she still didn't move.
The winning male stepped closer, "My name is Tigerclaw.. my brother is Tallshadow. We are... were Brambleclan cats."
Halfstep's heart quickened. Were Brambleclan cats?
"Our father was Oakstar... our mother is Duskmane," He continued despite the shock on her face, "We have a message for her... to meet us...-"
"Don't tell her where, she'll send her entire clan," Tallshadow warned.
"S-so... g-give me a different message. I'll give it, I promise!" Halfstep squeaked.
The two, who she could now see were definitely brothers who looked alike in every way besides fur color, shared a silent conversation with their eyes. The tortoiseshell tabby named Tallshadow finally gave a sharp nod and Tigerfang fixed her with a sharp stare, "My brother and I left our clan after our father was murdered. We didn't step foot into other hunting grounds, instead we crossed over the twoleg fields and up the hill to where there are many twoleg nests. We've spent the last few moons there scavenging rats and birds. But lately the twolegs have gathered around the tall wall that cuts off the lake with tall monsters," Tigerfang glanced towards the lake, "The wall is breaking. They've been trying to fix it, but there have been frequent storms in the distance that have swelled the river. The rainy season is coming early. If the twolegs don't fix their wall, the waters will burst from it like a dam... and flood the entire valley."
Halfstep's breathing had quickened and it was only now that she finally jumped to her feet. "I must warn my clan!"
"No!" Tigerfang growled suddenly, "The clans won't listen! You must tell our mother! If your clan finds out, she might not leave them!"
"So you will doom my clan- all clans to death!" she spat back, the normally quiet, timid cat suddenly determined.
Tallshadow let out a warning growl, "Tell our mother first, let her come find us... and then you can tell your clan. But we warn you, they won't listen. You should flee while you can."
"Go," the tiger striped tom snarled, "Deliver our message. Do not betray us."
Tigerfang and Tallshadow had been right. The clan hadn't listened, but neither had Duskmane. The warrior had merely sent worried looks towards Firethroat and refused to listen. Halfstep had always suspected that the red throated tabby she had been apprenticed with was half-clan. He was slimmer than his mother, but his coat pattern was unusual for any males in the clan to have been his father-something Duskmane had attributed to the late, black furred Darksight. She had heard that Darksight had been her previous mate and her last kitting had been a disaster that ended in them all dying.
What about this new information that she all but affirmed as truth? Now this meant that not only had she taken a mate from another clan to birth Firethroat... but that this had been going on for a long while if Tigerfang and Tallshadow were also half-clan. Were they the kits who she claimed had died? Had she left them with their father? Their father, the former leader of Brambleclan?
The thoughts made her head spin. She thought she had known her mentor. Gentle, kind, and playful... utterly loyal to her clan, right? But now... how long had she had her paws in two places?
And now?
How could Halfstep judge her mentor's loyalty when she-
The tabby stopped and looked up towards the sky. Was she really doing this?
"Where is our mother?" the voice startled Halfstep from her misgivings.
She shuffled her paws, noting the webbed skin between them-a natural born characteristic of her clan, "She... she said no. She wouldn't leave."
"Why!?" Tigerfang snarled, though she could pick up on the hint of desperation in his voice.
"She... she has another son. Firethroat. He just became a warrior. He won't leave and she won't ruin his standing with the others by revealing he's half-clan. ... Or at least... I think that's why."
"You. Think?"
"Well she didn't confirm it... but that's what I think," she answered. The response didn't seem to put him at ease and he turned away with a huff, "B-but maybe... Maybe if you take me to the twoleg wall. Maybe I could get proof and they might all leave."
"If we had proof, don't you think we would have brought it? There is nothing, and to go to the wall now would be dangerous. The twolegs have been disappearing. They sense the worst," The tabby tom said defeatedly.
Halfstep remembered the prophecy from her dream. Is this what they meant?
Leave behind clan and pride...
"...Will you take me with you?" Stoneclan PrologueFires will rage, waters will rise.
Take only each other, leave behind clan and pride
Journey to where stars rain upon the land.
Cloudswirl bounded ahead of the patrol of Stoneclan cats, paws restless after a fitful night of sleep. Even the naturally energized Sunstreak, who had been unusually sullen lately, seemed shocked at the silver and blue pointed tom's anxiousness. She glanced over at her sister, but Dovetail didn't meet her concerned gaze, and without the larger she-cat's protest there were no protests at all.
They came to a stop at the first stretch of border that they shared with Mireclan, Cloudswirl looking seriously at the river that made up the borderline.
Yes, he thought to himself, the water level has definitely risen since yesterday despite there having been no rain.
Cloudswirl had been staring so deeply at the river that he didn't notice company until he heard Sunstreak's sharp hiss. He lifted his head immediately to see two Mireclan cats pausing in step on the other side of the river.
On closer inspection he realized that these weren't Mireclan cats at all. The two large males were completely unknown to him, though they were clearly out of place in the muddy lands of the mire- paws sinking deep in the muck. They looked nearly as large as Sunstreak and Dovetail's own brother.
"Tigerfang... Tallshadow..." Dovetail spoke calmly, though her body language spoke of her wariness, "Why have you returned? You are a long way from Brambleclan."
Cloudswirl's ears pricked in surprise. While he had never seen them before, their names rang some distant memory in the back of his mind... though he could smell not a trace of Bramblecan scent on them even with the wind in his favor. What had she meant by returned?
The tabby tom's ears went back and his eyes narrowed at the Stoneclan cats, though neither he nor his striped brother spoke. There was a rustling in the reeds behind them that ripped a warning growl from the tabby's throat.
Out stepped a small tabby with a rounded face and intelligent eyes. This one he recognized from past gatherings as a Mireclan apprentice. Her small, webbed paws stood much more easily on the slick, soft ground though he noticed now that the young cat's claws dug nervously into it.
"What is this Halfpaw?" Cloudswirl meowed uneasily, "Why are Brambleclan cats with you?"
"Brambleclan rogues," Sunstreak corrected in a low, accusatory rumble.
"They aren't rogues," Halfpaw argued on instinct, though the stares she received made her rethink nervously, "I-I mean... rogues don't follow clan code... Tigerfang and Tallshadow are still fine clan cats... they still-"
"Clan cats without a clan?" Dovetail pointed out smoothly, "Clan cats who trespass into Mireclan? ... Unless you mean to say that Mireclan has taken these two in?"
"Just look at them. They couldn't catch a toad without sinking half a tail deep into the mud," Sunstreak pointed out, and Cloudswirl had to admit she was right. The two large toms would fair poorly in Mireclan. Completely incompatible.
Tallshadow growled, though his voice remained even and unconcerned, "Come Halfstep, don't waste words on them. It is none of their business."
The two rogues disappeared with noticeably difficult steps back through the reeds, bodies angled northward.
Cloudswirl's voice made the remaining cat pause, "Halfstep... you received your warrior name since the last gathering... so why have you-"
"Look," Halfstep cut in, "You should all follow their lead out of the valley. All of the clans should."
"Follow rogues!?" Sunstreak yowled, "Leave the valley!? Are you serious?"
"This isn't a matter of pride!" Halfstep hesitated, tail drooping and fur bristling anxiously before her voice turned into a warning, "The water is going to rise-"
"Halfstep!" The harsh cry of Tigerfang caused Halfstep's head to snap towards them. With one more almost sympathetic look the she-cat scrambled back, deeper into Mireclan's hunting ground.
The stoneclan cats continued to stare for a while longer. Dovetail was the first to relax, swiping some quick licks over her fur. Sunstreak shook herself and looked towards the bend in the river suspiciously, "They were headed towards the Mountain Steps... but they might cross over down the line."
Though it was a suggestion for the group to quickly continue down the border, she didn't wait for them to agree as she ran ahead. Dovetail huffed in annoyance, giving one more lick to a bit of fluff on her shoulder before picking herself up and following.
However Cloudswirl was still staring as where Halfstep had disappeared, his paws feeling like heavy, immovable stones beneath the sudden despair in his belly. Blue eyes finally dropped to the river as he murmured an echo of a voice from a dream, "...Waters will rise..." Brambleclan PrologueFires will rage, waters will rise.
Take only each other, leave behind clan and pride
Journey to where stars rain upon the land.
"I know this sounds crazy, but I think I had a prophecy last night."
Golden eyes regarded her with suspicion. Rabbitpaw felt herself fidget beneath the scrutiny.
"You're right. It does sound crazy," Foxpaw finally replied, "I think you just ate some bad prey or something. You know, like the time you dreamt that Tornear had been grabbed by an eagle only for him to walk into camp after patrol while you were yowling for a search party."
The tawny, long limbed she-cat scrunched her face up at her brother, whiskers bristling at the insinuation, "This isn't like that-"
"What about the time you tripped over a broken limb and cut your paw, and told Longwillow that you needed medicine for a snake bite or you might die?" The other apprentice wasn't even looking at her now, instead having gone back to pawing at the dry dirt while they waited for their mentors, "Face it, your imagination is far greater than your sense."
Now Rabbitpaw was really rankled, "You know, you think you're so smart! I'm going to tell Nightstar about my dream. He'll know I'm telling the truth!"
"Okay, and what about the waters will rise part?" Foxpaw once again fixed her in his sights, gaze uninterested but serious, "You know as well as I do that the only water in our territory comes from the Highfalls and a kit could hardly drown in it."
Rabbitpaw felt herself squirm again beneath his far too sound logic. He was right... of course. Her brother was always right. Brambleclan's territory was dry and flat with little enough rainfall to quench even the trees. Most stood tall and barren save for the small copse nearer the Highfalls, where the water that came from the mountain provided just enough to support life. Her dream had left her with a sense that a great flood was going to wash over them, but they were too dry and too high up to worry about that even in the rainy season-which was fast approaching.
The she-cat sighed in defeat and dropped onto her side. Even if she did tell someone, would they even believe her?
Rabbitpaw eyed their sorry looking fresh-kill pile from where she sat on a fallen log. They had managed to ferret out a family of mice from a dry bush during their training, but even so there was hardly enough to go around these days. She felt her stomach rumble and heard her brother's chastising words in her head when she considered the pile again. Elders and Queens first, no matter how good an argument her stomach put up.
Across the way Nightstar was talking with her mentor Ashfeather and another warrior named Twistedleaf. Once more she considered bringing up her dream, but her brother's words rang in her ears again.
"You did a very good job today it seems," an elder tom with ragged cream fur and a scar over his eye settled beneath her log with one of the mice between his paws, "I nearly poked my eye out trying to chase a mouse into those thorny bushes when I was young... Haha! Wouldn't you know, seasons later some Meadowclan warrior got it instead"
Rabbitpaw chuckled politely at the slightly dementia-addled elder. "Foxpaw got most of them."
"I'm sure," Longtooth's tail flicked in amusement, causing her fur to ruffle slightly, "But those mice can be quick once they get going. If you dont pounce on them right when they leave their hole they're hard to pin down. Takes quick paws and good eyes. I should know. When I lost my eye I could still fight with the best of them, but never caught a mouse again."
It took her a moment to realize the compliment in his rambling and her whiskers twitched while her claws dug lightly into the bark beneath her paws. Usually the elders' stories bored her and she always felt uncomfortable engaging in them, but for once she felt that maybe he might understand her more than even her own littermate.
"I had a dream last night..." she blurted out. Longtooth cocked his head but said nothing. She felt self conscious and her claws dug deeper into the wood. He was surely going to laugh at her.
"Well, go on."
Rabbitpaw sat up straighter, eyes widening, "I-I had a dream where voices told me about fires burning and water rising or something like that... a-and how we have to leave and find raining stars."
The elder seemed to consider this, "Do you feel that it's important?"
"I did when I woke up... but... it doesnt make sense, does it?"
The old tom laughed, "Not your interpretation of it. But that doesn't matter. Starclan told you something for a reason, what matters is what you do about it, not what you think about it."
Rabbitpaw opened her mouth, but said nothing as her brain considered his wisdom. Something caught her attention and both she and Longtooth looked over as Ashfeather padded over, "Come on, time for patrol. Hopefully we can find some more prey before sundown."
Rabbitpaw gave one more look towards the elder but he was focussing again on the mouse between his paws.
"I'm ready for sleep," Foxpaw yawned as the four cats made their way back to camp. Behind them Twistedleaf carried a snake between her teeth and Ashfeather eyed the nearby meadowlands just beyond their borders for any prey that might be brave or stupid enough to venture out of the tall grass. Above the group clouds had formed and every so often thunder would roll over the sky.
A particularly loud crack of thunder caused the Bramblecan cats to tense and Ashfeather's gaze lifted towards the sky pensively, "Perhaps rainy season has come early."
Twistedleaf had set down her prey and sniffed the air before agreeing as Foxpaw added, "The rain will drive worms from the ground."
"And drive bigger prey deeper into their nests," the she-cat pointed out to her apprentice. She picked the snake back up and the party continued as the sky grew ever darker.
Rabbitpaw had hesitated, for once still as she regarded the sky in thought, "...rain water..."
"Hurry Rabbitpaw, we must return before the rain starts!" she was snapped into attention as Ashfeather and the group picked up the pace towards the camp.
Could the prophecy have meant rain water?

Character SheetName: Mooneye Sex: M Age: Young Adult Rank: Warrior Pelt Color & Markings: Sleek black fur with very subtle grey ghost stripes and a single white mark on the tip of his left ear Eye Color: Dark blue Additional Physical Attributes: One of his eyes has turned milky white with near blindness. An average sized tom with a lithe body. Black nose and paw pads. Picture: Personality: Thoughtful, quiet, and dutiful, he is a cat of simple pleasures and little ambition beyond what is expected of him. Strengths: An excellent climber with a quiet step. He thinks things through before acting and is a decent judge of character. Weaknesses: Can take too long to act and struggles to commit to difficult decisions. Family: Silvermane (mate), Whitefoot (Mother), Adderstreak (Father)Sexuality: Bi Mate: Silvermane History: As a kit he almost never spoke, leading most to believe he was a mute for the longest time. After a fox plundered the nursery, killing his siblings, it was his single cry that saved his life and brought warriors to chase the fox away. Originally he had been named Silentkit, and later Silentstep but after another encounter with a fox, his eye had been damaged and his name was changed to Mooneye. Despite this injury which many believed might ruin his chances as a warrior, he continued to be a reliable hunter and fighter. Not many moons ago he was given his first apprentice, and while joint training with deputy Silvermane, he grew to love her. Additional Information: He's had one apprentice who has recently become a warrior named Weaseltail. Character SheetName: Goldenheart Sex: M Age: Adult Rank: Warrior Pelt Color & Markings: Long yellow tabby fur Eye Color: Bright gold Additional Physical Attributes: A very large tom with a scar over his pale nose Picture: Personality: Goldenheart is a quiet tom who prefers to do things right the first time rather than rush into something and make a mess. Despite his imposing figure he's actually quite kindhearted. An honorable cat who would rather suffer consequences than betray what he feels is right. Strengths: Good judgement, strong morals, and a calm demeanor are the the cornerstones of this cat. It doesn't hurt that he can back that up with a bulky, muscled body. Weaknesses: He isn't a leader and dislikes the spotlight. Unless he has a cause to follow, he wont often push himself to do more than needed. Likely to throw his support behind one horse and follow them until his trust is openly betrayed. Family: Dovetail (sister), Sunstreak (sister), Whiteclaw (father), Sandfall (Mother) Sexuality: Straight Mate: Open History: Goldenheart was born as the oversized middle kit of his litter. Sandwiched between his softspoken yet easily riled older sister and the playful, troublemaking runt, he automatically filled the role of gentle protector to both. Upon becoming a warrior, this sense of duty expanded to include his clan. His father, whom also served as his mentor, was killed only a few moons ago protecting his mother and his sister Sunstreak from a mountain lion. Additional Information: Goldenheart received his scar after Sunstreak insulted a loner who resides in the twoleg camp. The loner slashes at her, but hit Goldenheart instead when the tom stepped in the way. Most cats outside Stoneclan are unaware of this however and some have created some rather wild stories around it that only add on to Goldenheart's intimidating aura. Character SheetName: Rabbitpaw Sex/Gender: Female Age: Juvenile Rank: Apprentice Pelt Color & Markings: A cream colored coat with brown point markings Eye Color: Brown Additional Physical Attributes: Rabbitpaw has long legs for her size and a Siamese-esque facial shape with fur a bit longer on her tail. Picture: Personality: Rabbitpaw is the definition of the cat who cried wolf. She's given to storytelling, embellishing the truth, and especially overdramatics. She doesn't mean bad by it, she just has an overactive imagination. She lacks confidence in her skills as a clan cat and instead finds herself daydreaming of excitement instead. Strengths: She's actually quite quick both in speed and reaction timing. She also tells great stories. Weaknesses: Rabbitpaw is given to daydream and can be unfocused if left to her own devices. Family: Foxpaw (Brother) (Parents open) Sexuality: Straight Mate: Open History: Additional Information: Is an apprentice (Open to a mentor) Characters for later Character Sheet

Mooneye stood at the edge of the meadow, peering into the dark expanse of Brambleclan's territory. Lightning cracked the sky, creating harsh shadows from the jagged trees. Despite the late hour he had poked awake some of the other warriors to investigate the smell of smoke that had disturbed his sleep.
Small brush fires were not uncommon in Brambleclan during the rainy season, but they were usually put out quickly. However his dreams had made him restless and he was determined to make sure everyone was safe.
Besides the occasional flashes in the sky, there was no fire to be seen and he could hear protests from some of his clanmates behind him. Nobody wanted to be out in this and to many, it wasn't their problem if Brambleclan has some fire troubles. Even more spiteful clan members may even consider it righteousness from Starclan for the amount of times Brambleclan cats stole food from their territory.
Mooneye wasn't sure though. He had been on edge all day and this only cemented that fear inside of him.
Rabbitpaw watched from the apprentice den as several warriors came and went from the large log that served as the meeting area. There wasn't much hiding in their territory, even in their camp, so she made sure to feign sleep. She had never been a deep sleeper, even as a kit. Foxpaw had a habit of thumping his foot when he had good dreams and liked to layer right next to her. Besides, she had learned a lot through eavesdropping like this.
Now was a little different. The warriors were moving quickly and speaking quietly. Something must be wrong. Nightstar had sent a patrol out only a short time ago and seemed to be gathering more warriors now who stood in waiting for something by the stump.
About ten minutes had passed before a white tom with orange patches came running back in. He was moving with urgency, but not sounding any alarm. Rabbitpaw noted his paws and lower legs were stained with black and he brought the smell of smoke with him.
A fire?
It wasn't unusual. There was always fires this time of year, especially in weather like this. Nightstar looked serious, but not worried. Maybe it was nothing... then again, she did always look like that.

Whisperingbreeze was not the happiest about being woken up, her ears pulled back against the wind billowing across the grassland. There was no rain, just dry, crackling air and occasional booms of thunder. "Care to tell us why we have to be awake for a thunderstorm?", she asked, glancing over at Mooneye. She was a bit irritated, just wanting to be curled up in her nest trying to block out the thunder, not standing in the humid air of the storm. Haven

Mooneye turned, twisting his neck around fully to see Whisperingbreeze as best he could. His one milky white eye seemed to glow in the darkness. "It's... It's hard to explain."
His whiskers twitched as thunder boomed. What should he say? It wasn't like fire this time of year was strange. Lightning would hit the dry trees in Brambleclan territory, but with how sparse they were, they rarely amounted to much and the rain would put out whatever didn't burn out on its own.
He weighed his options. Whisperingbreeze could be reasonable... if given reason. If he didn't give her something, she may become stubborn about it. "I had a strange dream. Maybe it's nothing... but there was mention of fire. It seems better safe than sorry. I just want to explore the border... make sure it's okay."

((Welcome Icy and March!))
Rabbitpaw wriggled a little, squeezing her way out from under her brother to try and get just a little closer, her ears straining to hear.
"...fire... too much smoke..." was all she could catch from the tom. Her eyes flicked to their stony-faced leader.
"Are you sure?" Nightstar was a small cat, but she held herself with such poise and confidence... and she could back it all up. Rabbitpaw had just been a kit when Nightstar became leader, but she remembered the adults talking about it... when Nightprowl became Nightstar. At first things had been tense, but within a short time, Nightstar had proved herself to be a most capable leader and more-so, one that had improved conditions for the clan and in the three short months Nightstar has already lost two of her lives. She was small, but she commanded respect.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather at the Tallpine," Her voice rang out clear and sure.
(I realize that I totally forgot to add what clan the cats are from in the bios. All the cats will join together soon, but if your cat is in a clan that doesnt yet have another person playing, just do your intro and I'll throw some cats in.)

HavenWhisperingbreeze glanced over at him, watching him for a moment after he spoke. A dream that mentioned fire? That seemed a good enough reason to her. "I'll come with you.", she said, standing up and stretching slightly. Sure she wasn't a fan of being woken up, but she'd rather him go to the border with someone else, especially if fire was a worry. She shook her fur out slightly, glancing over some of the other cats gathered, but just stepped closer to Mooneye, waiting for him so they could head off.

(Awesome thank you c: )
Foxpaw grumbled in his sleep as Rabbitpaw shifted next to him. Dreaming of stalking a plump mouse, his tail straight out from right behind him as he creeped up on his prey. The small brown creature shifted easily along the roots of the tree. Scrambling for it's own food. Unknowingly to the small creature it would soon be helping feed his clan and making him one step closer to becoming a warrior! Although the dream soon vanished as Rabbitpaw shifted again. This time causing the ginger tom to wake up. "Uhh, huh? Rabbitpaw?" He grunted, blinking his eyes open blearily to glare at his sister, "Why are you-" He began, but caught off as he heard the call from Tallpine. Why was Nightstar calling a clan meeting? He thought shooting curious look at his sister as he hauled himself to his paws.

Rabbitpaw glanced over at her brother as he woke. Should she tell him? Would he think she was telling stories again?
"Something is up, half the warriors are out of the clan and I think Twistedleaf saw something," she whispered quickly as they went to sit beneath Tallpine. Nightstar was situated in the branches, looking out as the remaining clan members slipped out of their dens to assemble. A tiny kit tried his best to join before his mother snatched him up and sent him back to the warmth of the den.
"A fire has started among the deadtrees, not far from camp. For the moment, until we hear from the scouting party that the fire has been put out, the clan will be moving to Highfall," the leader explained.
"That's not unusual. Is the fire bad?" asked Longtooth.
Nightstar answered calmly, "It's just a precaution. The rain hasn't started and if the wind changes direction, we'll all be breathing smoke."
That seemed to settle the elder's mind and he caught Rabbitpaw's eye with a curious glance. She turned to her brother, "What if- what if my dream was a prophecy?"
Mooneye led the patrol along the edge of borderline, the smell of smoke getting stronger and stronger. For a while, everything was quiet and even he was starting to think he had overreacted... then he heard a loud yowl. He felt his claws flex into the dirt, the only thing keeping him from racing across into Brambleclan territory. Instead he strained his ears and good eye.
Through the darkness he saw movement, a white and black tom racing through the trees. He recognized the cat vaguely from gatherings.
"You there! Twistedleaf!" he called.
The cat paused, but only for a moment, fixing the group with wild, green eyes. He shifted from paw to paw before shouting, "My clanmate is trapped! Follow or don't!"
With that the brambleclan cat took off again, into the trees. Mooneye didn't even hesitate to consult the rest of his clan as he raced after Twistedleaf. He needed to know more.

Whisperingbreeze kept close to Mooneye as they walked, her own doubt starting to creep in bit by bit. Fires were typical for this time of year, it didn’t mean the end of the world. Even as the smoke got stronger and stronger, she was relatively relaxed, not finding much to stress about. When the tom came speeding by, and delivered his dire announcement, though, it felt like ants were under her pelt. She didn’t hesitate either, racing after Mooneye. She vaguely heard someone from the patrol behind them call for one of the cats to run back to their own camp for help. That probably would have been a better first move, but her brain was far behind her paws at that point. She just raced along beside Mooneye. They might be a different clan, but that didn’t mean they stayed and left them to their doom. Haven

(Hey Haven, runningsky123 ! Runningsky, I have Mapletail of Mireclan if you have another cat available. Also cool seeing you here as well ^^) Foxpaw followed after his sister as they went to sit beneath the Tallpine, still trying to blink the sleep from his eyes. Why would half the warriors be out of camp during at this time? He thought to himself. It made little sense, but with the urgency in Rabbitpaw's voice it caused a ripple of unease to travel through his stomach. When she had originally spoke of her dream, Foxpaw couldn't help but brush it off. It wouldn't have been the first time something or another had caused the tawny molly to overreact. At least over reaction was how he viewed it. As Nightstar spoke about the fire, he forced his fur to lie flat. Trying to brush away the details that Rabbitpaw had told him the morning after a particularly restless night of sleep. He assumed the fresh-kill she had eaten that night had caused her over active imagination. Apparently he wasn't the only one thinking about her dream, as she leaned over and spoke to him. "Why would Starclan send you,a prophecy but not Nightstar or Barkpelt?" He shot back quickly, his voice holding an edge to it. Once the remarked had slipped out though, Foxpaw regretted it. He didn't mean for his tone to be so sharp. As apprentices, he and Rabbitpaw had responsibility to help evacuate the clan to Highfall. The queens, kits and elders. Where his clan needed him he would be there. But a whole prophecy? From the sounds of Rabbitpaw's dream? It sounded more destructive that what the fire originally meant for the clan.

As they ran further in Mooneye's good eye bbegan to sting and he could feel the pine needles prickling at his paws. Something about that tugged at his brain, but he was too busy trying not to lose Twistedleaf.
It didn't take very long for them to find the source of the trouble. An dried out pine tree was split in half and both sides were in full blaze. Although the tree was apart from most, one half had collapsed onto a group of other pines and the other must have fallen into dried grass or something because the fire was much larger than it ever should have been.
Twistedleaf was panting softly as he paced a line a short ways away from the fire. "My clanmates are by that tree!"
He flicked his tail towards a thin, spindly tree just beyond the blaze. Two cats were by the base, one crouched and the another laying limp.
"Can they climb the tree?" Mooneye asked
"Ashfeather is unconscious, lightning struck nearby and she was sent flying," Twistedleaf explained.
Mooneye swallowed against his own anxiety and rubbed at his good eye as he looked around. "You may have to leave her..."
Rabbitpaw looked down and nodded. He was right. She was no leader or medicine cat, she couldnt even tell mint from yarrow until she shoved her face into it.
"Yeah..." she gave in. It would be better if it was just a dream.
"You two," Longtooth called. The elder was by the queen's den where he was helping corral the little ones, "Take a kit."
Longtooth liked to pretend he was some lazy elder, but he enjoyed feeling useful.

runningsky123 It's always cool to see a familiar face, screen name ?, lol. I'm definitely down for Mapletail to have a sibling, I always love the dynamics they can bring! ) Foxpaw felt guilt prickle into at his pelt him when Rabbitpaw dropped her gaze. He shouldn't have said that, Rabbitpaw could be a pawful sometimes, but she was smart, and deeply cared about their clanmates. Opening and closing his mouth he struggled to find his words, Foxpaw knew he needed to apologize. Whether Rabbitpaw was right or not, it wasn't his place to say if her dream was a prophecy. He, wasn't the leader or medicine cat as well. "I-I'm sorry Rabbitpaw, I'm just a little nervous." He apologized, looking away not being able to completely admit his fear. He was training to be a warrior he shouldn't be afraid. Not noticing Longtooths approach, Foxpaw jumped slightly at the elders voice. Looking at the older tom he gave a quick nod before padding towards the nursery. Eager to do something, perhaps being in action would help calm his nerves. Foxpaw was also nervous to Rabbitpaw's reply. Poking his head into the nursery Foxpaw almost ran straight into the curious young tom who wanted to join the meeting earlier.

( runningsky123 , Awwe, I would love to see a picture! I've yet to figure out how the images work on here lol. My friend has a cat I used as inspiration for Mapletail, sounds like they could've been real siblings. I have my own cat, been thinking of basing an OC off of him recently.)

( Icyturtles I have him and his brother Gryffin, we adopted them a few years ago. Dragon is currently curled up under the blanket next to my legs purring up a storm XD. He’s usually kinda aloof, but he gets cuddly in the morning.) Sleekfeather wasn’t sure what had woken her up for a second, before she inhaled a bit deeper in the air. Smoke. She stood from where she was curled up with her back against her sister’s, turning and shaking her with a paw. “Mapletail. Maple!”, she said, trying to be quiet but wanting to wake her up. She wanted to see where the fire was, so she could warn their clan if need be. Something turned in her stomach, a bad feeling. She could almost feel that the air carried a sense of dread, that something was going to happen. Something horrible. *************** HavenWhisperingbreeze could feel her eyes stinging from the smoke, but she just continued on. Her eyes being irritated for a few days was worth being able to save other cats. She stopped with Mooneye as they got to the fire, her ears pulling back at the heat. Whisperingbreeze surveyed the situation, feeling anxiety prick at her pelt the more she did. How in StarClan’s name were they going to save these cats? They couldn’t pass through fire, and there didn’t seem to be anything they could use to make a bridge. All there was was grass and dirt. Dirt. She suddenly remembered being taught to kick dirt on embers, using the dust and dirt to put them out. Whisperingbreeze straightened up, looking for the thinnest part of the fire. It was still much larger than an ember, but right now, they didn’t have many options. “Over here! The fire is thinnest here. If we all work together, we may be able to kick enough dirt on it to smother the flames.”, she said, sending a silent prayer to StarClan even as she said it. Please, please let this work.

Mooneye nodded and moved to help Whisperingbreeze, turning to kick dirt at the fire, even though the smoke was burning his lungs.
CRACK!
His whole body jumped and he lifted his head as another tree snapped and collapsed, making the ground tremble and kicking up dirt, ash, and needles. Mooneye coughed but didn't stop kicking dirt back.
"That's it... That's it!" Twistedleaf cried. He turned from helping and jumped over where the fire was waning. Together with his clanmate, they hoisted the other cat up and started to drag her to the exit.
The one eyed tom looked over his shoulder and then around them where the fire was further spreading. The dried pine needles were just enough for the fire to jump from tree to tree now, creating a patchwork maze of danger.
Dried pine needles... needles that spread across most of the territory.... needles that-
Mooneye's fur stood on end and his eyes went wide, "Whisperingbreeze... this could spread to the meadow!"
While Brambleclan was dry and empty, creating a good starter for fire but not enough to feed it for too long, Meadowclan was entirely grassland and it butted right up against the brambles and dried needle floor that was currently ablaze. Mooneye looked back just as the Brambleclan cats finished dragging Ashfeather out of the ring of flames. He met his clanmate's eyes before darting off again. He needed to be wrong, he needed it all to just be a dream.
Tears stung at his eyes from the smoke, but he was also well aware that his own anxiety had peaked as he saw the glow on the horizon. Where once the grass lifted high into the air was now replaced with tongues of flame. The meadow was up in flames.
"No!" he yowled, already starting to pace the edge of the grassland, looking for a way in. He needed to be with his clan- with his mate! What if they hadn't gotten the warning in time? Weaseltail and the other new warriors had been on watch, did they notice the fire in time? His heart ached at the thought of his former apprentice. This was supposed to be her time to take pride in herself, not watch her homeland burn.
Mooneye felt his body convulse and he hacked up dark, disgusting phlegm. There was too much smoke building.
Rabbitpaw brushed against her brother, "It's okay. I guess I feel bad for wanting it to be true. Like, it would make me special. But I don't want that if it means something bad happens. You're the smart one, it's just a dream."
She picked up one of the kits and followed Longtooth out.
The ginger and white kit named Emberkit looked up at Foxpaw and asked, "We're going?"
He didn't seem afraid, instead he was trembling with excitement. He was only four moons, but he had been eager to grow up. Emberkit had always needed to be watched closely lest he run off. He ran around Foxpaw's legs, "Let's go! Let's go!"
Rabbitpaw held a tiny, tawny kit in her mouth as they walked. The smell of smoke had gotten stronger and looking over her shoulder she could see a glow from the area of the Deadtrees. Although they had all come to rely on Nightstar, she had a feeling that the leader had been downplaying the situation. Small fires were one thing, but this looked almost like the sun was riding in the dead of night.
As they reached Highfall, Rabbitpaw sat the kit down with it's mother and wandered back to where Longtooth had found a small boulder to sit on. He was watching the horizon with his one good eye.
"What is it?" she asked.
The elder regarded her for a moment as if weighing his options before answering, "This has never happened before. Mark me, Rabbitpaw... this night isn't over. Be prepared to move again."
"But Nightstar-"
"Nightstar is a whelp who has only known how to lead clan squabbles and prey scarcity," Longtooth growled. The apprentice was taken aback. Nobody talked about Nightstar like that, not since she had first taken over. The elder must have noticed her shock because he added, "Heronstar was my friend. He wasn't the best warrior, but he had sense. Sense that most of this clan has lost it seems."
"The fire can't reach us here though, right? Isn't it good to have moved the clan?" she asked.
"And what then? The deadtrees create the homes for most of our prey. The fire will kill them or drive them out to the meadow..."
The apprentice swallowed tightly at the idea and she realized how hungry she was now.
"We, at the very least will be going hungry. We could call an emergency gathering and forgo our pride to beg Meadowclan to spare territory to us or we could try to take it by force. That's if the meadow doesn't burn down too. Then what? The other two clans can't sustain all of us."
Rabbitpaw trembled at the ominous question. "You should tell Nightstar. We should-"
"You think she'll listen? Nightstar keeps us all in line by putting on that cool-headed, decisive leader act. It won't hold against uncertainty. She'll see it as a threat to her leadership, just like she was to Heronstar," Longtooth shook his head with a huff, "No sense at all."

( runningsky123 That sounds adorable, aweee. My cat has the tendency to sit in her lap while I'm gaming or share chairs when I'm sitting. Other than that he sleeps next to my feet at night. Doesn't like to leave me alone especially after we moved. That's awesome you guys were able to adopt the brothers, it's nice for them to have company ) Pressed against Sleekfeathers, back Mapletail had her tail curled tightly over her nose, face berried beneath her paws. It wasn't an unusual position to find her in, but it definitely helped block out other scents and sounds. Even with her sister shifting beside her, the molly was in a deep slumber. But, with the shaking of Sleekfeather, it prompted the molly to open her eyes and unwind from her ball to lift her head. Sleekfeather, I don't have the dawn patrol today. She grumbled drowsily, Palefish had asked her to join the dusk patrol with them, which she had eagerly accepted. Opening her jaws in a wide yawn, it allowed her to breath in what had caused Sleekfeather's alarm. Was that smoke? She thought briefly to herself, eyeing her sister. It wasn't uncommon knowledge that Brambleclan's territory often had small wild fires during this season. Something the other clan's had noted from their own territories. But, it wasn't often the scent drifted this close to camp. Sighing quietly, she figured her sibling wanted to investigate the smell. While she may be bone tired herself, she was curious at how close the fire was this time around. No reason to wake the leader and deputy for something that was potentially harmless, right? "You want to check how close this is, don't you?" She whispered quietly. Shifting to her paws, she flicked a piece of moss from her tail. Eyeing the warriors den, it wouldn't do them any good if they woke the others up. So flicking her tail in a sign to follow Mapletail slunk past her sleeping clanmates and out of the den. There, they could talk a little bit more freely. She couldn't imagine the embarrassment of waking of Palefish who had slept a couple nests away.

HavenFoxpaw couldn't help but purr slightly at Emberkit's eagerness. It honestly helped to calm his nerves, as well as the impression that Rabbitpaw wasn't too upset with him. He'd have to talk to her more later, but right now. Emberkit was his responsibility. He remembered being like the young cat, eager to learn and prove himself. It still coursed through him, he had jumped to face the challenges that faced his clan. This time though something in his stomach told him that Rabbitpaw's dream meant more. That worried him, her dream didn't sound pleasant at all. Pushing the feelings aside he turned his sole focus to Emberkit. "Yes, you're coming. We're going to the highfall." He agreed, watching the tom race around his paws, "Think of this as a test, the more you listen it shows how much closer you are to becoming an apprentice." He added, wanting the young kit to calm down. During one of his laps to his forepaws, Foxpaw had managed to snag the kit's scruff with only a minor grunt. He was going to be on big cat. He couldn't help but think to himself as he pushed his way out of the nursery and after Rabbitpaw. As they trekked towards Highfall Foxpaw watched their surroundings. He hadn't seen a wild fire this big. Perhaps he should ask an older warrior if one of these happened every few seasons? The sky was almost lit up as if dawn was approaching and spots of ash began to fall from the sky. He was grateful they were head to a place with at least some water. A drink would be nice after this. Once they had arrived at their destination Foxpaw set Emberkit down and watched Rabbitpaw walk over to Longtooth. The elder seemed on edge. Hesitating a moment, he considered following Rabbitpaw, but instead turned to find his mentor. Handn't Rabbitpaw mentioned Twistedleaf seeing something earlier?

HavenWhisperingbreeze kept kicking dirt over the flames as fast as she could, stopping when the tree fell, startled. She turned around, almost afraid it would be falling on them, when she realized they'd succeeded. There was a stripe of extinguished ground now leading to the cats trapped, the BrambleClan cat (Twistedleaf, Mooneye had called him) bounded forward to help his Clanmates. Whisperingbreeze couldn't help the swell of pride in her chest. Her plan had worked. She didn't care that she'd been the one to come up with it, she was just glad that the two cats were safe now. At least, safer. She didn't have long to bask in that though, before Mooneye yowled and took off. She sprinted after him, anxiety once again raising in her chest. The pine needles burned hotter, but grass burned quicker. If the meadow had caught and spread, MeadowClan didn't have long. When she indeed did see the flames, she pinned her ears back. The rest of their patrol had gone back, but they'd gone for help, not to warn. Whisperingbreeze shook her fur. They didn't have time to waste. "If we run along the treeline, we can outrun it. The fire burns cooler in the grass, but it spreads quicker. We have to go now.", she said, not waiting for Mooneye. She turned, and ran along the treeline, back towards the camp as best she could. The flames were still spreading, but she managed to get ahead of them. She'd never run this fast for this long, but she didn't stop. Whisperingbreeze felt like some StarClan cat had taken over her body, helping her run to save her Clan. She just hoped it was enough. *************** IcyturtlesSleekfeather was glad Mapletail didn't seem as slow to wake up as she sometimes could be, anxiety itching at her pelt. She did feel bad. Mapletail hadn't been there when she'd gone to bed, so Sleekfeather knew her sister had been on the dusk patrol, but this was important. She was about to tell her sister she wanted to check how close the fire was, her jaws already open, when Mapletail said her exact thoughts. She just nodded, and followed her outside. They stayed quiet until they had slipped out of camp, when Sleekfeather finally spoke. "I know fire's normal for BrambleClan this time of year, but I've never been able to smell it from here before.", she said. "And... I just have this horrible feeling, like something bad is going to happen. We should find out if it's a danger, we don't want to be caught unaware."

(Okay, I wasn't going to add anymore characters to keep for a bit, but Emberkit is staying. I don't know if you've seen Over the Moon, but I'm just picturing the little brother in cat form)
Emberkit was still for only a moment and his fur began to fluff in excitement. He had never been here before. There were so many smells and sounds. "Highfall!" he mewed, looking up at the thin fall of water.
He ran around again before stopping at Foxpaw's feet, "What's wrong?" then, after a beat he asked, "Where's dad?"
The spotted kit looked almost exactly like Twistedleaf if his markings were red instead of black and bright green eyes instead of steely blue.
