She uses her tail to wave a greeting at Blaceice before hurrying out of the caves. Once outside, she takes a moment to take in the fresh air before heading off in the direction of the lake. She shivers as the cool breeze brushed against her fur. She hoped they would find at least a mouse or two. Hopefully, this leaf-bare wouldn't be to bad. "It's nice out." She said as they walked.

Dustleap shudders, as he avoids Blackice's glare. He hurries after Aspenwhisker. He nods, hearing her statement. "I know. I do hope we have enough prey on the territory this leaf-bare though. I don't want to have to hunt in the mountains. I'm pretty sure the brown bears will be active this leaf-bare." Dustleap wasn't very happy with the thought of the brown bears. "I know they tend to sleep through the leaf-bare, but there will always be a select few that hunt during this time... We'll lose a lot of cats if that's the case." |

Oakwhisper looked over at the sound of pawsteps, she wasn't surprised to see her apprentice and dipped her head in a silent greeting. she nodded upon hearing his question as she pushed the stale herbs into a more easily carried pile. "i'm out of burdock root, which isn't good if any cat happens to get bit by a rat and im low on goldenrod, i can use wild garlic in replacement of burdock root until i have more." Oakwhisper explained to cloudpaw as she thought it over and if she remembered right wild garlic could replace goldenrod as well, but having burdock root and goldenrod would be much better then another herb with similar uses. "Oh! that reminds me, have you went through your own herb storage to see if any are stale today?" Oakwhisper questioned as the thought came to her mind. "i was about toss out some myself, stale herbs don't do any cat any good after all." |

Cloudpaw frowns. "Burdock root and goldenrod," he meows quietly. "I don't think I've learnt about burdock root and goldenrod yet. What do they look like and what are their properties?" he asks. He looks at the herbs in the stale pile.
"I don't have any stale herbs. I have catmint, chickweed and hawkweed sitting right outside the den. I'm drying them under the sun so they'll last a little longer," he meows, still staring at the pile. He was wondering which herbs were the burdock root and goldenrod. He was probably told before, but because it was placed in his short-term memory, he's definitely forgotten by now. "They're the only herbs for whitecough and greencough I could find. And because leaf-bare's coming, I wanted to make sure they'd last as long as possible." |

Oakwhisper glanced back at her herbs that she just had looked over for stale ones, motioning to goldenrod once she had spotted her low supply. "well, goldenrod looks like a tall plant with bright, yellow flowers. its what's usually used in poultice for wounds after its chewed up." Oakwhisper then had to pause and think about burdock root for a moment, she didn't have any but she could remember what it looked like easily. "Burdock root comes froma a tall-stemmed thistle, if i remember right it also has dark leaves and a sharp smell. we only use the root, because it's good for keeping rat bites from getting infected." Oakwhisper smiled and nodded a bit relieved. "that's good, we'll need all we can get for the upcoming leaf-bare and hopefully, if we're lucky we won't have to use them too much." |

IC: "Suppose we will have to wait and see," Aspenwhisker mewed twitching her ear. She found the bears kind of cute and scary at the same time. One hit of those massive claws could tear a cat apart! "Maybe it will be a warm leaf-bare." She said trying to be positive. During leaf-bare she would spent hours trying to find at least one piece of prey to bring back to the clan. Aspenwhisker disliked coming back from hunting with nothing to show for it.

"Goldenrod, a long-stemmed plant with yellow flowers. You must turn it into a poultice for wounds. Burdock root, the plant is a long-stemmed thistle. It has dark green leaves and a sharp smell. It helps with rat bites," Cloudpaw recites. "Okay. I'll go look for them."
Cloudpaw rushes away, eager to go find the new plants he'd just learnt. He saw the goldenrod in Oakwhisper's pile, but wasn't too sure on the look of a burdock plant. He hoped he didn't bring the wrong one back. |

Dustleap sighs. "At least Darkblaze is still alive, though I don't know for how much longer. He's the only one left alive with the title of Bear Hunter, despite having been a guard. I don't know what we'll do when that old tom dies."
Suddenly, a white streak passes him. "Cloudpaw!" he roars. The fluffy white tom stops in his tracks.
"Yes dad?" he asks, turning his head to look at the older tom.
"What are you doing?"
"I need to find some medicine for Oakwhisper. I need to find goldenrod and burdock root." Cloudpaw looks proudly at his father, his chest puffed up. "Well, time for me to go, dad. Have fun hunting!" The young apprentice rushes off once more.
"Be careful!" he calls out after his son. He shakes his head in exasperation. "Sorry about that, Aspenwhisker. He didn't even greet you. Looks like I'll need to teach him some more manners." |

Oakwhisper sighed to herself when cloudpaw rushed off to search for the herbs, there hadn't been any reports recently of any rouges, bears or anything quite as dangerous. Still, she worried as she gathered up the stale herbs in her jaw since cloudpaw was still an apprentice and not one trained to fight like guard apprentices. she walked out the medicine cat den trying to not drop the stale herbs, she didn't leave them close to the camp in case a adventurous kit decided to sneak out and discovered the stale herbs if they were close to camp.

Redpaw made his way out of the apprentice's den, pausing to look at where the sun was in the sky and sighed to himself in relief that it was still morning and he hadn't over slept after all. Redpaw then began to trek down the path and looking around for his mentor's familiar grey striped pelt. when he didn't spot her by the time he reached the bottom of the path, he figured she was either out or still asleep, mostly the first one though. |

Cloudpaw races towards the forest. The Tall Forest was the only place he'd be able to get the herbs he needed. He kept going over the two herbs he needed to find: goldenrod and burdock root. Running over the information, again and again, he doesn't notice anything as he runs. He stumbles over a rock, nearly falling into the lake, but rightens himself quickly, rushing off once more. |

Cloudpaw reaches Tall Forest not too long after. The tall trees make him feel welcome. They were plants, after all, and he loves learning about new plants, so that he can become a better medicine cat. "Goldenrod..." he pauses. "Oh, I forgot to ask where they're found... I'll go find burdock first then." He heads further into the forest. |

Oakwhisper made a mental note to go look for cloudpaw once she put the stale herbs long out of a curious kits reach. as she walked she thought about things she had put to the back of her mind for the last moon, one the more prominent things she thought of was the upcoming matching gathering. 'i wonder who destined mate is, would they be a guard or a hunter?' She had stories of destined mates coming from outside the clan and she hoped to the stars her destined mate would be within the clan.
'ah mouse-dung,' she thought a bit annoyed at having dropped a few yarrow leaves she didn't notice slipping through her grip. She sat the herbs she was still carrying down and re-did what she had done back at her cave to make them easier to carry, before picking them back up again. |

Redpaw wasn't sure to do in the meantime, so he decided to see if the elders and queens had eaten yet. though now that he thought about it, blackice probably already brought coldmoon prey. 'still it wouldn't hurt to check' Redpaw decided as he glanced up the path he had just came down flicking his tail in thought. 'it'd be more sensible to bring some prey with me, then make two trips.' Redpaw turned away and went over to the freshkill pile, picking one of the plumper morsels and then headed back up the path he just walked down. tho he was heading to the nursery this time rather then his own den. |

Cloudpaw looks around. He moves further into Tall Forest, searching for a sharper scent. As he was searching, he came across the scent of a mouse. He pauses, and falls into a hunter's crouch. The fluffy tom slowly shuffles his feet forwards, trying to stay downwind from the mouse. He didn't want the mouse to feel his footsteps. A few minutes later, he spots the small black mammal. It was nibbling on something. Cloudpaw moves a little closer, keeping an eye on the ground. In this area of the forest, there were a lot of leaves and sticks. He had to be careful not to move any of them, so as not to make a sound.
He was as close as he could to the mouse, and pounces quickly. The mouse hears him in that last second, and bursts into a sprint, but Cloudpaw was too fast for it. He lands right on top of it, tosses it into the air, and snaps his jaws shut, breaking its neck. Something sharp reaches his nose, and the tom pauses. He takes a deep breath, and notices a plant in a rather dry area of the forest. It was a tall stemmed thistle, with darker leaves. He moves closer to make sure the sharp smell came from the plant. After realising it did, he grins. He's found the burdock root. Cloudpaw quickly digs it up. |

Oakwhisper gave glanced around her surroundings and decided she had got a decent way from camp, so she set down the stale herbs and shattered them on the ground so that now of them covered the other. She then used her tail to brush some already fallen leaves on top of them to put them out of immediate sight completely. 'Now to find cloudpaw,' Oakwhisper thought to herself as she tried to think of where cloudpaw would have went first.

"Do you want me to lead the rabbit to you or do you want to lure the rabbit to me?" She questioned wanting to give him a choice. Apsenwhisker didn't care long as they took down their prey. Rabbits were tricky, but she was confident that they could handle it.

After digging up the burdock root, he starts picks up both the herb and the mouse he'd caught, and starts hunting for goldenrod. He had no idea where to start, so he decided to continue looking in the forest. He heads closer to the passage leading out of the basin, but still couldn't see any goldenrod. Where is it? he wonders. The white tom turns his head in Redpaw's direction. "Hello, Redpaw. How are you today?" he asks kindly. His cloudy blue eyes look directly at the young apprentice. With how he acted, it's as if he could see. He closes his eyes, and takes a deep breath. "You have prey with you? That's very kind of you, but Blackice has already gotten me something earlier today. Go give it to Doesong and the others. I'm sure they'll appreciate it. Have you seen Fawnpaw and Cloudpaw? "I'll chase the rabbit to you," he meows. He rolls his shoulders a little, before crouching down. It had been a while since he'd last hunted, and he wanted a good workout. Chasing the rabbit would be perfect for exercising his legs. As a cat who specialised in above-ground combat, Dustleap needed to keep his legs strong, and this would be the perfect way to exercise his legs and his balance. He needed to make sure to keep light on his feet as he chases the rabbit. That way, he'll be even lighter on tree branches. He starts moving closer to the rabbit, trying to go around it, so that he can manoeuver it towards Aspenwhisker.

Oakwhisper opened her mouth and breathed in, she wasn't particularly trained in tracking cats or prey like hunter apprentices, but she could still probably track cloudpaw's scent. Oakwhisper frowned when she just smelled the normal forest smells and the stale herbs, but got to looking around the area to see if she could find his scent trail.

"i'm doing good, just waiting for aspenwhisker to get back from where ever she went this morning." Redpaw replied answering the first question coldmoon had asked, but unconciously nodded at hearing he had already eaten today. hearing the next questions, he began to hum quietly as he thought, had he seen fawnpaw or cloudpaw today? "i haven't seen fawnpaw today, but i think i spotted cloudpaw rushing out of camp earlier," Redpaw answered as he thought about who he had seen in camp when he left the apprentice's den. "not sure why, but oakwhisper left not long after aswell with some herbs." |

Cloudpaw had reached the end of the other side of the forest by that time. He was pretty sure he hand't spotted any goldenrod, and so he turned to his left, walked 30 steps, then dove back into the forest, walking in a straight line. He hummed a little, feeling happy and carefree. The clouds began to cover the sun, creating more shadows in Tall Forest, but that didn't deter Cloudpaw one bit. Coldmoon's ears flick a little as he listened to the young apprentice. "Is it fun learning from Aspenwhisker?" he asks kindly. Hearing that Cloudpaw ran out of camp, the blind tom sighs. "Cloudpaw's always been like that, I guess. He's too spirited when it comes to herbs, so he's probably gone looking for some. If he left alone, it just means Oakwhisper was finishing something up, and now she's gone to look for him," Coldmoon thinks aloud. |
