[[ Amber Starchaser @shootforthestars : hope you're all doing well! <3
here's a happy new year's present! well, it's earlier than new years, but whatever. gotta keep the necroposting threats away (: if I remember correctly we did a time skip towards the end of the battle, so I wrote under that assumption. lemme know if there are any corrections I need to make for continuity purposes or, well, for any other purposes ]]
Alexander Rojas Lopez “Some people live more in twenty years than others do in eighty. It's not time that matters, it's the person.” - The Doctor (written by Mark Gatiss)
✩ ⤛ ☽ The Chosen Vampire ☾ ⤜ ✩ No matter how hard it rained, Alex could not wash off his arms.
The blood came off easily. That was no surprise. It had decorated his neck, his cheeks, a tiny bit had even underlined his right eyebrow. That all washed off effortlessly, following the rainwater without complaint.
In a moment of indulgence, Alex took a quick snack from a corpse. No one had seen, he had made sure of that. Off in the shadows, a body was torn apart, unrecognizable. Still, the human's face was contorted in something of a scream. It was terrifying. (It was so pitifully human, pitifully mortal). And Alex was so hungry.
It was a disgusting experience, and Alex was disgusting for doing it. But he had been so tired, so hungry.
He took from the chest, straight from the heart. The blood was sludge, not yet coagulated, but on its way there. Alex took (stole) all of it. It was so fast, he did not even taste anything.
No one could know. Alex destroyed the evidence, made sure no one could tell the difference between the premortem and postmortem violence inflicted on the body. When another one of those monsters wandered into the alleyway, Alex destroyed it too. Left its corpse scattered indiscriminately.
The rain washed away the human's blood from his face, but it did nothing for the monster's sludge.
He wiped most of it away, but there was a permanent sticky sheen left on his skin. A visibly darker hue. The mark of the guilty. (The mark of the victorious.)
Eventually, ever so slowly, the monsters weakened. Alex could hear organized marches streets away, the thundering of heavy metal, the clanking of weapons. He could hear fabric flapping in the stormy winds and the smack of sludge on wet pavement.
All that below the screams of the dying.
The vampire grimaced.
He had tried to fight. Truly, he had. But every time he saw one of those monsters, those beasts, he found himself back in that damned grocery store, full of silence and death. Alex could not escape those bodies.
Instead, he helped where he could. Most of the nearby buildings had uneven walls, whether made out of wooden planks or adobe brick or sloppily-done plaster. All of those options gave Alex enough material to grab onto and scale the walls. The monsters, big and only somewhat organized, could not do the same.
For a while, Alex carried people up to the roofs. The taller the building, the better. The farther they would be from the bloodbath below.
That was until one monster lumbered its way onto one of those roofs, and the cluster of little humans Alex had brought up there found themselves trapped.
Someone else got there before Alex could. They saved most of the humans.
After that, Alex stopped trying to save anyone.
When the ground shook, when the sky flashed with color, when the monsters started to run, Alex was slumped against a wall, a floor above the ground. He had pushed some bricks back to let his head tip backwards. He had closed his eyes, stopped breathing, tried to stop listening.
As the monsters fled the dead-filled streets, Alex stayed up on that wall, away from everything. Still, perfectly still. Not wanting to acknowledge what had just happened.
You survived. That is all that matters.
Alex should not care. He did not know anyone in the city. They should mean nothing to him.
Yet he was still so afraid and so ashamed of that fear. He could not process what had happened. He could not understand that it had happened.
Never mind the rain, never mind the fires (they were far away), never mind the blood, never mind the unwashed goo. The unwashed guilt. Damn it all, and damn this place. Alex needed to go.
(To flee, to run away.)
Down below, there were voices. So some humans made it, Alex noted darkly. He supposed that was something. Disinterested but bored (or so Alex tried to convince himself), the vampire focused on the conversation going on below. At least it was something new to listen to, not the teasing pitter-patter of raindrops or the growing cackles of a blazing fire. At least it was not the muffled groans and unevenly beating hearts.
"Caspian Talis Drake, in case you didn't know."
Alex would not have cared, if it were not for the other people in the conversation: an angel and a werewolf. A familiar pair.
There's no point in joining that conversation, Alex. They will see your arms, know what you did. They are humans. You know that they will think. They will not understand.
How wrong that was. They would understand, they would understand immediately. (And that was even worse.)
Alex opened his eyes and tilted his head down. Immediately, he saw the trio. Not that it was hard. All there was were dead bodies, human and monster, and then three still standing.
Likewise, the near inverse was also obvious. The building walls were empty, save blood and goo and water and one very conspicuous vampire, stuck to the wall out of fear and cowardice.
Reluctantly (very reluctantly), Alex let go of the wall. He pushed off and fell to the dead-strewn ground. We all know that was not a fall, Alex. It is more of a tumble. A crash. Alex had landed on his feet, sure, but he still looked like a wreck.
The vampire straightened his (guilt-marked) sleeves. He corrected his posture (spine, shoulders, abdomen, chin), and tried again to wipe away the gooey sheen. His hair must have looked like a mess now, thanks to all the rain. No amount of hair gel could withstand all of this, everything that had happened.
Alex walked up to the trio. Once he came to a stop, he gave a polite nod. (Idiot. That says you are lower in rank than them. A vampire lower than a human. What a joke.)
"Apologies for the interruption. I presume you are looking to find other prophecy members. I believe that may include myself."
Immediately after saying that, Alex regretted it. He should have just run. He should have indulged in his cowardice and fled. Gone home. Admitted he could not be here. He was not cut out for all this.
Yet now Alex had gotten himself stuck in this nightmare.
[[ done! finally, lol
my apologies, this post got pretty dark. hopefully it wasn't too much. ]]

{ mossecho Amber @shootforthestars Happy late new year! I'm really sorry I haven't been keeping up with this better. I've been dealing with health issues lately and overall life has just been chaotic, for lack of better word, but I think I should be more active now.
Great post as always, Moss! I didn't honestly think it was too dark (tbh I was planning on a darker Lilah post to counterbalance Caspian's more "romanticized" (although that's not really the right word) approach to everything). And you know I'm always happy to see Alex content. I don't think it's my turn yet technically, so anyone else is welcome to post before me, but I'll try to do something with Lilah before too long. I think I've got an unfinished post sitting around somewhere.
Sorry again for kind of just leaving everyone hanging. Looking forward to roleplaying with everyone again though. My goal is to also be better with the pacing from now on, so it will be easier to respond and the like.
Anyways, hope everyone's doing well and that the new years treats you all better! Love you guys <3 }

Amber Starchaser mossechoHowdy y'all! Whoooo, this also turned out to be a lot darker than I was expecting, but I couldn't resist adding in a little more angst to Clarisse. it's been a while since I've written for her so she is probably off. Oh well though. I'll get back into her brain eventually. I figured that the fight and the 'near death' encounters or whatever they were with the monsters would proabbly throw her off a bit. Besides, I always imagined Clari and Cas to have a very... love hate relationship so this will work. Also, I'm not sure what Clari thinks of Alex just quite yet. They have interacted enough for me to be a good judge of their dynamic yet so sorry if his part was short in my reply. Anyways, happy to be doing business with yall again! Hope its been a good new year so far!)
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾The Chosen Werewolf ☾⬷ ✶
Clarisse thanked Rafe when the rain finally stopped. In the mess of the storm Snorting to clear her nose, the werewolf looked towards the sky as the clouds parted to reveal the moon once more. The wind stirred her whiskers and for a moment, Clari allowed herself to breathe in the fresh air that followed a rain. Even though it was accented with rotting blood and rapidly decaying flesh, the cleanliness arrested her amid the chaos and allowed her a simple peace.
A touch of a warm embrace and the soft rumble of her father's chest, "Do you smell the rain, birdie?"
She opened her eyes to crumbling walls and blood spattered streets. Clarisse strained her ears towards the center of the fighting. The elemental's storm had come from that direction, but there was only a soft spark of Vis remaining now.
Had the fight finally ended?
She shook out her coat and started to trot towards the where she last saw the Elemental and Avani only to realize that everything looked different without the rain and there was no one in sight. Maybe they went towards town?
So she turned tail and stepped past the bodies of the fallen, nose in the air for any hint of her companions. It was difficult with all the water; any trace of them had washed away with the rapid downpour. Clari's ears went back in frustration.
Rutting Arfen, if that Elemental hadn't poured out the heavens, I wouldn't have lost them all. Who the Arfen was that guy anyway?
Clarisse roamed the streets for what seemed like hours as the hair on her hackles and the back of her neck rose. It was a wolf's biggest fear: isolation. What if they had died? She hadn't seen anyone for a lifetime. Her tail tucked down in between her legs as she turned a corner only to see a wide expanse of emptiness.
"Help me..."
Clarisse jumped at the sound, teeth bared as she spun.
The stench of the beasts vile blood was all over the woman. Clarisse stepped back when she stumbled forward as if possessed, "Stay back!"
But the woman payed no heed to her growl of warning.
A shiver ran down her spine when the woman moaned. There was something wrong with her. She smelt wrong. She looked wrong -
The woman reached out with one hand, "Please... it hurts..."
"I said stay back!"
The woman collapsed. Clarisse heaved a breath, disgust rooting in every part of her body. Back arched and tail tucked, she circled the body silently. A pool of blood spread out from the woman's ears and nose as her eyes dimmed. When she stopped breathing, the werewolf crept closer and nudged her with her nose.
The chill of death and life leeching blackness. She tired of running, of fighting, of living -
Clarisse fled.
She ran and ran and ran until she couldn't breathe. Stumbling out of Rafe's embrace, she fell into a wall, bare to the chill of the wind. Clari gripped at her throat and coughed violently to dispel the taste of disorder in her throat. Her body shook with the adrenaline and fear.
It took her long minutes to calm down enough to realize she was freezing. But she couldn't return to Rafe's embrace. Not yet. So she rose from her spot and wondered around until she found a woman of her shape and size. She might have felt worse about stripping the woman of her clothes if she had been in the right head space.
Clarisse left the scene of the crime quickly, her desperation to rejoin with her group and leave the hellish landscape only growing with every second.
"Avani! Avani, where are you?!" Her voice was hoarse. "Lilah! Alex!"
It took time, but eventually Avani's glorious form circled ahead in the sky. Clarisse felt the prickling of tears, but pushed them back. She might have almost died - twice - but that was no need to show the team her fear.
The werewolf did hug the angel despite herself, spilling her guts about the odd woman.
"I'm telling you Avani, there was something seriously wrong -"
"Glad you're still alive."
Clarisse tensed up out and turned quickly. She breathed out a sigh of relief at the sight of the Elemental, but didn't remove her guards.
"Caspian Talis Drake, in case you didn't know."
She exchanged a glance with the angel beside her before lifting her chin in recognition, "Clarisse Alinksy."
The Captain continued on without so much a a nod to her and normally, if would have made her smile, maybe even laugh. But she could still feel the way death had leeched down her throat, leaving her empty and exhausted.
The side of her lip curled up to reveal her elongated canines, "Buff out the weaknesses, huh? If you hadn't caused a tsunami in the middle of a battlefield, I would have been able to use my senses. Newsflash! Rain dulls a shifter's senses! I couldn't even smell your grimy hide let alone those - "
Clarisse's nose twitched at the shift in the wind just before a figure came crashing down in front of them. She threw out a hand in front of Avani as he walked up. Straightening, she sniffed and was immediately at ease.
"Apologies for the interruption. I presume you are looking to find other prophecy members. I believe that may include myself."
She tilted her head, "Alex, right?" Her eyes narrowed on his complexion, trying to figure out what had changed since she had seen him in the car. "You smell... different."
After another moment of contemplation, she shrugged it off. It had been a hard day for all of them; maybe she was just mistaking things.
A little less hot than before, Clarisse returned her attention to the Elemental with a huff. She crossed her arms as she looked at him again with scrutiny, "Of course, we all had dreams. I remember you. You're much more pompous than I expected though. Oh well. We'll buff out the weakness."
She snorted and then gestured to the necklace with her thumb. "That's what we're suppose to do here. Or at least, that's what we think. The necklace showed up in Avani's dreams so we stole it and a car and ended up here."
She looked back at Alex and once more towards the Captian, nodding her agreement, "We need to find Lilah anyways."

{ Amber mossecho @shootforthestars
Thank you, that's really sweet, Moss! And same to you, of course <3 Here's to hoping this year is the one everyone's been needing. I'm already doing somewhat better now, both in terms of health and most other aspects.
Sorry you had to deal with COVID, Shoot, but I'm glad you're doing better. Great post as always! I'm really excited to see how Clari and Cas interact. The whole group in general now that they're finally together, but them especially. Mostly since I think it will finally add some drama and tension to the group.
*chanting* Dark post dark post dark post
Glad we're all on the same wavelength. I figured since Caspian isn't allowed to be angsty (on purpose), Lilah gets to counter-balance this by having an extra angsty post.
It will be a running trend that Caspian has a pretty blase about most things, including the harsher situations, and there is a reason for that but it's spoilers. It will definitely come up during the siren/sea monster portion of the RP and then later on.
I know it's not my turn to post yet, but I figured I'd just keep things rolling to help us get back into things. So here's a Caspian post. I'm also not sure how in-character he is since I normally imagine he isn't easily perturbed or bothered (outwardly, at least), but I'm guessing with the whole battle and already having beef with Clarisse, that he's not as patient as usual. Hence why he's really inconsiderate and unsympathetic too. Also, yeah, maybe I just wanted to write a petty character, and what of it?
Ugh. Hate this both because I'm not inspired and Caspian doesn't feel right to me, but eh. I am so very tired and just want to be done with this post. It might sound more awkward at certain parts because I cut corners here and there. I might edit it later on if nobody else has responded, but that's a big might. I'll throw Lilah at the group in the next one, so they don't have to go off searching for her. I had planned to already have her post done by now but... it's me. Sorry for this and good night. }

( mossecho, Starchaser, @shootforthestars Okay, I have finally returned refreshed and ready and I'm sorry for such the long wait and lack of communication on my end. I'm doing great and despite having a bit of "Oh my god I'm going to be 22 in a few weeks, how the hell has this happened?!" I've been doing great. I meant to have something up at the beginning of the month, which didn't happen and I was going to post yesterday but only got about 1/4 of it done before going to bed. But anyway, I'm glad I finally got something up, especially because I missed everyone. Anyway, happy sixteen-days-late New Year! I hope everyone's year has been good so far. I also hope you're feeling better Star and Shoot. Also, I thought it would be kind of fun if the gem sort of connected with Avani because perhaps it has a piece of chosen ones past, I guess kinda like the avatar state from AtLA. But if anyone doesn't care for that idea, let me know and I'll edit it.)
Avani Roshan "Someome has to care. Too few people care these days."- Lift The Chosen Angel
The necklace was like a beckon calling Avani forward. She had faintly noticed the rhythmic pull at the party, and it remained in the back of her mind as she fought the inky beasts. It was getting stronger, urging to unite with her. Avani turned toward the pull and saw Clarisse grab the amulet and race to her.
"Avani!" Clarisse's voice rang clear despite the sound of battle around them. Avani swooped down to meet the werewolf, taking the amulet with a grin.
"Thank you, Clari!" The werewolf gave a curt nod then ran off to continue the fight. Avani carefully grasped the relic in one hand and took to the air. Safely above, she looked at it and lightly drew her fingers against the orange jewel as though she were afraid to break it. Even with her strength, it was unlikely she could damage it on her own. The sounds of a snarling monster below ripped Avani from her trance. She placed the amulet over her head and drew her spear again, swooping to the beast. It snapped at the glowing weapon and managed to eavde her attack. Avani striked at it again, sending the beast fleeing the area. Gritting her teeth, she chased after it.
She cornered the creature in an alley. It snarled at her, its black teeth and body faintly shimmering from the light. It pounced. Avani turned her spear straight toward it and thrusted the weapon forward. She skewered the beast and hefted it off the ground. The monsters struggled to get free, up until she slammed it against the wall. Avani breathed heavily and reached for the amulet around her neck. There had been more power behind that attack, more strength. Her heartbeat quickened and she could sense an impression.
An impression of...a woman. She was an angel determined to defend her people. That impression shifted to another of a man dying to hold back destruction. An angel protected their friends at any cost. Another woman mourned a loved one and wanted to avenge them. Someone looked out at their village one more time before facing their duty.
On and on the impressions came, shifting from one idea--memories perhaps?--to the next before abruptly fading. Avani blinked away her trance and found herself still in the alleyway. The remains of the monster were still on the wall and her spear had disappeared. She emerged from the alley and found no more signs of fighting. Avani clutched the amulet tighter. How long was she out of the fight and what had been the outcome?
Avani made her way back to where she saw Clarisse. Despite the death, at least it appeared the monsters had fled or were defeated.
"Avani! Avani, where are you?!" Clarisse's voice pulled Avani from her thoughts. The werewolf had returned to her fullest form and was wearing different clothing from before. Alex was with her and he seemed dazed. There was a wetness to the air, the kind she expieremced after a storm. When had that happened? Avani smiled and swooped down, joining the pair. Clarisse wasted no time wrapping Avani up in a hug. She returned it, squeezing her tightly. Not like the bone-crushing hugs Uncle Dalfon was famous for, but a warm comforting hug to sooth someone after a stressful day.
"Clarisse! I'm so sorry I worried you, friend. You gave me the amulet and I chased another creature into an alley. And then...I saw things. I think it had something to do with the amulet, but I can't be sure." Avani let that topic fade as the werewolf launched into the horror she saw after the fight. With a comforting hand on her shoulder, she let Clarisse do all the talking.
"I'm telling you Avani, there was something seriously wrong -"
"Glad you're still alive. Caspian Talis Drake, in case you didn't know." Avani turned to the owner of the voice. He had black hair and was around Clarisse's height.
"I'm Avani Roshan, nice to meet you." She offered Caspian a friendly smile and remained quiet as he and the werewolf conversed. He revealed he was the last prophecy member they were searching for--as well as being from the Elemental military-- which meant they were all finally united. Well, mostly united. Lilah was still missing.
"Well since she's not here yet," Caspian grumbled, she'd better be dead or dying. We don't have all night,"
Avani lightly frowned at his comment. It seemed like Caspian wasn't one for teamwork. "We'll find Lilah. We're not doing anything without her, even if it takes all night," she said firmly. Despite what he said, he asked--no, ordered--Alex to start searching for Lilah. Avani stepped away from the group and looked up.
"I'll try to find her from the sky. I'm sure Clarisse will be able to help track her too once she's away from here. If you find any injured survivors, let me know and I'll heal them." Without another word, Avani took off to begin her search for Lilah.

{ Amber Hey, Amber! Don't worry about the wait, but I'm happy to talk to you again. I really missed all of you as well <3 Glad you're doing good and I hope the new year keeps it up for you! And I know what you mean; I've been feeling very existential and old lately. I really didn't expect to make it this long in life, so while I'm not where I'd like to be, I guess being anywhere in life is an overachievement for me. At least that's the attitude I'm trying to have for this year. Anyways, happy late new year and early birthday!
Also, thank you! I'm not doing too bad and that's good enough for me.
I actually really like that idea, so it's not a problem for me. I don't want anyone to feel like they can't come up with their own ideas for the roleplay. I'm excited to see what else you do with it!
Sorry this post is taking so long, everyone. I've been dealing with some stuff, but I think I'll finally be able to get a response up tonight. }

Amber Starchaser mossecho Ok, here is a short reply with more conflict amongst the group because we love nonfunctional, realistically hard to get along with team members. XD I promise Clarisse will actually be helpful in the next few replies, but I suppose she needed to get her aggression out first. I have this weird feeling that she is just sooooo hungry and needs to sleep. She's a bit like a toddler in that way so maybe in the morning, she'll be happy Clarisse again. XD Also, is anyone else experiencing a weird white background or is it just my computer? I had to switch browser because the options in the text bar when I was writing this reply disappeared as well. also also just noticed must know: what does wüsa büp-yim mean??? XD)
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾The Chosen Werewolf ☾⬷ ✶
Clarisse knew a peacock when she saw one. Usually active in the springtime, Clari had been taught to avoid the male animals in the grooves. Even a werewolf could be gutted by a rouge buck in rut.
Caspain Talis Drake had all the hallmarks of one, but there was a weight behind his words. He wasn't merely a peacock, showing off his pretty feathers and impressive merits.
And Clarisse hated that a little bit of respect invaded her mind. At least you have a spine, peacock.
She lifted her chin a fraction of an inch, bristling at his harsh laughter and piercing gaze. Indignation and dominance built into a burn. He might not have realized it, but he was challenging her. Challenging her by staring into her eyes and stepping forward. It was hardly the words that stoked the fire within; it was his body language.
Werewolves didn't like challenges.
He drones on and on until Clarisse couldn't even bother to care about his words anymore. He was insulting her, insulting her ability to fight. That she could get over with a proper meal and sleep.
She stiffened when his voice lowered and he moved closer to her. Slowly her hands moved to her sides, her claws elongating at the obvious threat posture. Yet, she constrained herself for Avani's sake. The Angel looked around, firmly denying the unwanted comment by the male.
But the stupid male just had to dig his hole deeper and deeper. She hummed in agreement to Avani's comment and barely flinched when her wings blew up dust. Her eyes locked on the Elementals. It was them and the vampire now.
A snarl shook the air and flavored her voice. "I get the sense you don't understand what's going on here. I don't care about your background, I don't care how many beyond beasts you took out with your rutting storm. I don't care what you think."
"You came to us acting like Rafe in his wheat fields," She scowled, "You may have saved our lives, but you got me lost and almost killed again. Lilah is no where to be found because of your stupid monsoon and you have the gall to say she better be dead?"
Clarisse closed the gap and made herself tall, "Back off, pup, before I skin your grimy hide and wear it as a trophy. Like it or not, we're your pack now. Learn to contribute. Well. We don't need a pack member that has scat for brains."
She breathed deeply through her nose and snapped her jaw shut to keep herself from lashing out physically. Their eyes, sea form arrogance and honey dominance, stayed locked until she was satisfied, but even as she stepped past him, she kept her eyes on him.
Agitated beyond belief, Clarisse shook her head as she walked away to go join the search party.
"Peacock..." she muttered under her breath.

Alexander Rojas Lopez “Some people live more in twenty years than others do in eighty. It's not time that matters, it's the person.” - The Doctor (written by Mark Gatiss)
✩ ⤛ ☽ The Chosen Vampire ☾ ⤜ ✩ Still shaken, Alex was far too busy overanalyzing everyone else to realize how visibly tight his jaw was.
The Elemental, who stood with enviable natural confidence, and the angel, dusted with gentle glimmers and the terrible intensity of sunlight. The werewolf, just as mutt-like as any vampire would have predicted. A small group of humans, already bickering. (Given how quick they were to argue, Alex felt briefly, albeit disgustingly, grateful for his species' isolation. How the Capitol had not fallen to infighting, he did not know.)
Then, of course, it was impossible to forget the broken bodies over which they stood. Even given their insensitive noses, Alex did not understand how the humans could be so unaffected by the stench of horrid death. He had to fight not to gag, had to tighten his jaw even further to avoid vomiting his horror all over the ground. The dying blood in his stomach churned, and Alex stood straighter for it.
How can they be so... unaffected? Why am I the only one who cannot bear to stand here for one more moment?
Well, of course, it is because Alex is a coward. The humans were unburdened by that flaw.
As the conversation progressed, Alex remained stoic. At least, he tried.
Still, when they started speaking of Lilah... he could feel his claws extend, unintentionally. Horrified by his lack of control (a fledgling would not do this, Alex, you child), Alex held his hands behind his back. An obvious indication of cowardice, perhaps, but it helped. He took a few deep breaths, and the claws slid back into his fingertips.
Lilah. The Elemental's suggestion that she be better dead was... Alex did not want to dwell on what he thought about that. He did not want to feel anything, really. He wanted to feel nothing for her. She was a human, nothing more. A lying one, even. Even less deserving of his thoughts.
Yet still, Alex could not help but feel some satisfaction when the werewolf mutt snapped back. The angel's reaction was welcome too, but Alex felt conflicted about the prospect of waiting for her, of doing anything for her. No, that was incorrect. He felt obligated to do nothing. She lied to him, she humiliated him. As childish as it was, Alex was too betrayed.
And yet that too felt so wrong. How could he proclaim himself to be on the moral high ground, above the messy humans, when he saw a lie as deserving of abandonment?
And so Alex remained silent. Silence was not a neutral response, he knew that. But he still tried to convince himself otherwise.
When the angel flew away, Alex held his tongue. He did so when the werewolf snapped, her language beyond rude but oh, so satisfying. There was something to be said for her insults. They were creative, even if tainted by human conceptions of wit.
He had to hide a smile when she muttered insults under her breath. It was rude to listen that closely, but it was also easier to make light of things than to remember the black gunk that coated Alex's arms, the dying, half-curdled blood that churned in his stomach.
When the Elemental spoke, Alex looked him eye-to-eye for the first time. He felt so small in the eyes of the human. The exact opposite of how it should be.
"You're up," said the rain-bringer (Alex tried not to visibly show his distaste for the human's casual speech; contractions, he was learning, were painfully common things in their dialect), "seeing as how tracking is your area of expertise and all. I trust you can find your way around a bit of rain, unlike the others?"
Alex did not know how to respond to that. Clearly, silence was not a socially acceptable option, but the human's speech was so rude that it did not merit a proper response. Still, if Alex was to make any headway with these humans, he had to start making allies.
(Allies. A word that implied a bitterly war-like situation. How telling.)
The vampire tried to approach the human with tact. Do not point out his rudeness, do not offend him. Speak respectfully, in a manner that shows you are allies. Do not make this worse for yourself. You have been a coward enough, now you have to grow up.
Alex smiled. Coldly, artificially, but a smile nonetheless.
"I am sure she can be recovered, in one shape or another," Alex kept his words measured, overly-enunciated. He was still not comfortable with this language, this human speech.
The vampire sniffed the air, painfully aware of how awkward it looked. Truthfully, the smells were all mixed, given the rain and the blood and—oh, all that blood. Still, commenting on the rain's unhelpfulness would hardly be beneficial to earning the Elemental's respect.
"She is north of us. It cannot be said how far, given the present chaos, but I am sure it will not take us long."
Alex held his hand up, palm towards the sky, and gestured to the long central boulevard behind Caspian. He began walking, slowly, as to establish some authority. Hopefully this went well. Alex was sure that he had indeed smelled Lilah (the one human he could identify in this city) (the one human he could identify at all), but he still feared they would not find her.
Why he feared this, Alex did not know.
This could, politically speaking, blow up in his face. Seeing how the angel and werewolf reacted, Alex was unlikely to become popular by associating himself with this particular human. But, still, it was better to keep a content relationship than an openly hostile one.
Of course, Alex had never had the political persuasions of his elders. Given his luck, this was very likely to backfire.
[[ oof, finally done. now time to go get confused by Durkheim's definition of religion. again. ]]

EDIT: I lied the first time, but now it's done{ Amber @shootforthestars mossecho
Ugh. Finally.
Y'all. You have no idea how painful this was to get through. Like, take the utter despair you get from reading it and multiply it by six (iykyk). I can't even remember how many times I re-planned, and rewrote, and re-edited this horrible nightmare of a scene. I wept over this post. I lost sleep for this post. I hate it on an actual visceral level. It fills me with such an incomprehensible rage that I could have used all the energy I channeled into being angry over it into actually accomplishing something with my life. No matter what direction I took, what I tried to change, it just wouldn't click. And the worst part is that it was all just to get to the part I actually wanted write (like 1800 freaking words in) and I couldn't even have fun at that point anymore. Writing this was such an exhausting experience that I felt like I had been through a fight by the end of it. I was almost tempted to just put [REDACTED] in place of most of the post and call it good.
Then I deleted it all and wrote this jumbled mess instead. I ended up splitting my post into two different ones, as they were originally intended to be. I just, uh, am not posting the first one because I don't like it right now.
I am so sorry this took a long time, and that it turned out such a mess despite the time spent waiting for it. I fully intended to have this finished days ago, but then I wasn't feeling so great again and I really struggled with it. Anyways, here it finally is. I don't hate it as much as the first hundred times around so... small wins? I cut some corners when writing for time's sake and it's not as polished as it could be, but eh. No point in making you all wait any longer and I am very tired. I'm just happy to move on to whatever comes next.
A fair warning, it might be a bit much in some places...? I think it's a bit darker than my usual fare, but hopefully nothing too bad. It's a bit gorier maybe and there is some minor body horror, if that's the right word, just as a warning. On top of that, it's just really melodramatic and for what? I guess just to make up for how boring my own life is.

(Yes, hello guys! Starchaser, hey, the most important step you can take is the next one. You've made it this far, you just got to keep moving forward (even though that can be easier said than done). Positivity for the new year is always a good thing. Anyway, thanks! Also, sounds good for the gem thing! I think there's a lot we can do with these things (and I know it's been discussed before) Oh, and one last thing; all your posts have been great. There hasn't been a single one of yours I haven't liked. Even though they may not come out as well as you wanted, they're still very fun to read and you have a nice, distinct voice between your characters. @shootforthestars, thanks! I had fun writing it. I also really liked your last Clarisse post. The Clarisse/Caspian dynamic is going to be so fun to watch. mossecho, AtLA is a great show with very few flaws. It's always fun to reference. And thanks! Also, love Alex. He's always fun to read about and I will never not find it funny how he judges people for speaking so casually. Also how he has a lot of internal narration before saying anything. He's great. Also, if anyone is interested, I have some...okay, a lot of incorrect quotes saved up. It's partly because I've been hyperfixated on the idea lately and partly because of Star's. So if anyone's interested, I can post em.)

{ Amber mossecho @shootforthestars Well, this is a thing that exists now. It's not great and pretty dry, but I'm not feeling all that well, so I'm choosing to be fine with it. I hope it's enough for you guys to work with and I actually will commit to making my next posts better
Yes, and it is indeed a miracle that I've made it this far. Don't push it, 2022.
That's very kind of you to say, but I hate every single one of them and my opinion will never change. I am most definitely the weakest link in this group, but let's be honest, between you and Moss and Shoot, I never had a chance. However, you have made me want to finish tonight nonetheless. Since my Lilah post is so long, because it was originally meant to be two posts, I have decided to continue with my original plan. I'll finish up the one that's actually important first and then the "what Lilah got up to during the battle" one can just be an added bonus for another day, perhaps.
Also, yes, absolute post all the incorrect quotes. I also have a lot of them saved up, because I was worried about being annoying if I just kept throwing them at people.
EDIT: I like having my posts separately, so this one is going here. I could just make a new post, but somehow that feels like more work. }
Caspian Talis Drake “There are some things you can only learn in a storm.” - Joel Osteen
♦ « ☁ The Chosen Elemental ☁ » ♦ Caspian had not met many Shifters in his life, but he had met more than his fair share of Clarisses. They were easy to spot. Overconfident, imperious, too headstrong for their own good. Simultaneously incredibly arrogant, but quick to go on the defensive at any little comment. They could never see their own flaws. It would make breaking the werewolf's smug façade all the more delightful.
Although, perhaps it was merely the way of her kind. Werewolves may have lived in packs, but in Caspian's experience, one could hardly find individuals more stubborn and uncompromising. It was anyone's guess as to how they had a functioning society. He did have to admire their tenacity though.
Caspian barely looked when the angel spoke up; the other two were content to fade into the background, and Caspian was content with their silence. Avani, Caspian was learning, had rather a different approach than Clarisse when it came to conflict. She was facilitative, even quick to say something nice about Clarisse and her laughable tracking skills. How charitable. How misguided. She was gone before anyone of them could reply even if they wanted to, but Caspian didn't mind. Admittedly, it wasn't a bad idea.
He gave the briefest of nods, before meeting Clarisse's furious gaze expectantly. The werewolf had been gearing up for a rebuttal from the moment Caspian had closed his mouth. He could see it in the set of her jaws and anger simmering in her eyes. It was no surprise, then, when she blew up at him.
Caspian remained stoic in the werewolf's bluster, face a perfect mask of apathy. He didn't back down from his stance, but neither would he give her the satisfaction of a response. Yet. Caspian should have been angrier, should have reacted more harshly, but the same tired argument was getting old, and fast.
"No, you don't understand what's going on here," Caspian snapped. How she could be so blind to the irony of her own words, he did not know. "The world is coming to and end and I don't have time to cater to your feelings. Temper tantrums or no. Grow up. For whatever reason, you're all part of this prophecy too and that means there is no margin for error. You don't have to care what I think, but that doesn't make it untrue."
But, clearly, despite was Clarisse said, she did care what he thought. Or at the very least, what he said. There would be little reason for such vitriol otherwise. Unlike Clarisse, Caspian had no doubts. Her comments didn't sting because there was no truth in them, passionate though they were.
"You're obviously not used to hearing anything except groveling and flattery, but I suggest you get used to it, and quickly."
Caspian rolled his eyes skyward. Didn't she have anything else to complain about? Something that would actually be reasonable? Öbüðel, I know patience is a virtue, but even I have my limits. He exhaled wearily, "There you go again, blaming me for things I'm not responsible for."
Static crackled in the space around them as Caspian raised a hand upwards. Vis swarmed at his fingertips as he looked at the werewolf, "Tell you what though. I'm tired of hearing you complain, so just this once, I'll play nice." His magic surged into the sky, scattering the clouds overhead and spreading slowly out to the rest of the storm, leaving a faint, lingering scent of ozone.
In other circumstances, he could have done it without getting winded at all. Any other elemental would recognize it as a great feat, but Caspian's so-called "teammates" wouldn't think much of it, probably thought it was as easy as a snap of the fingers. So, despite the effort, Caspian was careful to maintain his posture, keep his breathing even. The last thing he wanted to do was give Clarisse more ammunition.
There was a certain misunderstanding among the other Families, that vis was somehow less... involved than other forms of magic, simply because it was not a part of Elementals. That it didn't take just as much power and practice to manipulate as any other magic. Certainly not everyone believed that, but it was a common enough reaction that Caspian had grown used it.
Funny how those same people were so quick to blame elementals for every little natural phenomenon, from droughts, to quakes, to blizzards. Or storms. As if they were responsible for everything that happened in the world.
Caspian didn't budge even when Clarisse stepped closer, didn't even respond to the threat. They both knew it was empty. All bark and no bite. That or Clarisse was even more brash than he thought. He bit his tongue though, refusing to rise to the goad. Her petty insults weren't worth his time.
Scowling, Caspian watched the werewolf stalk on ahead of them. "We are not a pack," he huffed, glaring at her back. "All the better, because I don't need pack members at all." He was working with them because there was no choice in the matter. Caspian wasn't going to let himself be bossed around by some know-it-all.
While part of him was silently fuming with indignation, Caspian knew when to drop things. For a time. Arguing with people like Clarisse was rarely successful, but always aggravating, and never fruitful. There was no winning against irrationality. He'd already contributed far more to their cause in an hour than the others had the entire time they'd been working together.
Turning back to the vampire, Caspian flashed his own insincere smile. Nodding, he silently gestured for Alex to take the lead, planting himself firmly alongside the vampire.
Unfortunately, this was not a situation Caspian was best equipped to handle, as much as he hated it. A good leader knows when to delegate. As many skills as Caspian had, he could not hope to match a vampire's nose.
Even if he wasn't familiar with Sanctum's layout yet, Caspian wasn't about to trail after someone like some mindless recruit. Spirits forbid any of them get the idea he would usually follow them around. Or worse yet, take orders from them. Caspian may not have been in charge, that much was clear, but neither were any of the others as far as he was concerned.
The pair was silent as they walked through the desecrated streets of Sanctum. Caspian actually found himself grateful for that reprieve. He didn't know much about vampires, beyond their society was incredibly structured, with rigid customs and innumerable rules of etiquette. Any attempt at conversation was liable to make things worse, and Caspian wasn't actually keen to make another enemy out of this group.
Clarisse had already taken most of his energy and patience in one fell swoop.
Caspian wasn't naïve enough to mistake that silence for congeniality though. Since when could anything a vampire did be taken at face value. Caspian may not have met them before, but he'd heard all the rumors. At least Alex could keep his unwanted comments to himself though. If anything, his reaction was more respectable than Clarisse's, with her insistence on their unity. As if how well they got on mattered more than their individual skills.
Besides, only a fool gave camaraderie before it was earned.
The worst part was, Caspian sort of understood their skepticism. Even without their knowledge of who he was, he had always been a firm believer that respect came from actions over a position any day. Caspian knew plenty of officers who weren't worth their salt. Were their roles reversed, he probably would have reacted in the same way. But it was different out here than he was used to.
Back home, things were simple. Everyone knew their role, their expectations. They knew who gave the commands and how they related to each other. Within this group, there was no defined hierarchy. No wonder they were such a mess. Caspian had never been outside that structure before, and he was starting to realize its rules didn't translate very well to his new situation.
Caspian maintained his silence all the way up until the found their mage—alive and whole too, so he didn't really understand what the big fuss had been about; if they were part of a prophecy, they probably weren't dying anytime soon. He let the others handle the conversation, still ruminating and not wanting to make another misstep. Better to study their pre-established dynamics first, then make a judgement on how to proceed. Remember, Caspian, know your know your enemy before striking. Don't give them any advantages.
It wasn't until the group started discussing their next steps that Caspian joined in.
"The plan is," he cut in, shouldering forward, "now that we're all together, to find somewhere safe and decide our next steps." It was frustratingly close to having no plat at all, Caspian knew, but there was little he could do about it now. He didn't know the city, didn't know the threats they were meant to face. "Seeing as nobody here knows what they're doing."
Except me remained unsaid, but the ire the comment would inevitably draw aside, Caspian didn't think he needed to say it. Even if they all lacked knowledge about the reasons for their mysterious summons, he was obviously the only one there who was equipped to deal with it. But it was going to take some time for the others to trust his judgement.
"Our best bet would probably be the outskirts of the city," Caspian continued, still considering their options. He still knew very little about the city, but, the ports aside, Sanctum seemed more sparse the closer one ventured towards the lake. Presumably, it wouldn't be as crowded or damaged. He looked between the others. "Unless anybody has a problem with that?"
It came out a bit more like a challenge than Caspian intended. He wasn't used to letting others make the decisions, but if he was going to garner any cooperation from the others at all, he was going to need to loosen the reins a little.
Great job, Caspian, very diplomatic. Spirits, this mission was going to be harder than he anticipated.
{ also, yes, caspian is super not self-aware }

Amber Dude, ATLA is a fantastic show. I know we have talked about it before, but some of the character's remind me a lot of ATLA crew. XD I like the idea though for the avatar thing. That could be fun in the future. I love the incorrect quotes so much and would love to see some more. Starchaser My dude. Your posts are literally fantastic. Fan. Tas. Tic. I love reading your posts and I always will. Even on your bad days, they are still freaking amazing.)

(And done! @shootforthestars, I think we would all die for Avani. I also loved the small post with Clarisse's feelings about Caspian. I wonder which of the prophecy crew would/will have the most patience with Caspian. I would wager it's between Alex and Avani. mossecho Good luck with your homework and the semester in general! Yeah, AtLA is so fun and easily one of the best shows out there. And thanks! Only four days away now... Anyway, I forget how much I love Alex, then I read his posts and I'm just: Starchaser, No need to apologize for taking so long, I get it. When your unhappy/frustrated/dissatisfied/etc. with something you wrote, sometime you just have to start over from the beginning. And small wins are always good. It was nice to see Lilah again and I'm liking Caspian so far, though I have to second Moss' sentiment about him. He is a really fun character and (as I said) I like him, but if I knew him, I would probably strangle him. Avani has no idea and it's lowkey hilarious. It's going to be interesting to see how Caspian tests everyone's patience. I'm excited to see what you'll do with the magic system and honestly, I think it's fine for it to be a bit inconsistent as you figure things out. that's part of the fun of this, after all. And those memes are funny and quite accurate.)
Avani Roshan "Someome has to care. Too few people care these days."- Lift ☼↞✹The Chosen Angel✹↠☼
Between the fires and city lights, it was hard to miss the carnage below. Blood soaked the streets, mixing with rainwater and the black liquid from the monsters. Bodies of too many people were scattered around, a few of the beasts' corpses mingled among them. Avani shuddered at the sight as she flew by. Why had so many people died? Yes, death was a natural part of someone's life; something to be mourned, but also celebrated because of how they lived. But this...the deaths of so many in some unpredictable attack wasn't natural. Would Clarisse and Alex have ended up among these corpses without Caspian's help? Avani had left them in the middle of the battle, and was missing until the end. Not only did they have to fend for themselves, she had worried Clarisse.
Avani hung her head and tugged uncomfortably at the edge of her shirt. They could've died because of her. Avani squeezed her eyes shut and drew in a deep breath. No, she wouldn't go down that path. Though they had only known each other for a short while, Clarisse had proven herself to be a strong and capable fighter; and despite Alex's questionable driving, he managed to escape harm from the monsters. The important thing was they hadn't died, and she wouldn't leave them in a fight again. Any of them.
At least Caspian was there to help them--even if he seemed to be a bit prickly. Although their interaction was brief, he reminded her of her old flags captain in some ways; slightly abrasive, observant, and quick to take the lead. It was good to have someone like that in a team, especially if they were comfortable making quicky decisions like Caspian seemed to be. Avani could also appreciate how quickly he began the search for Lilah, even if his first comment about her wasn't a nice sentiment. She didn't believe the mage was dead. Though she couldn't explain how, Avani was sure they would've known if Lilah had died in the battle. Wherever she was, she was safe. They would find her soon, she couldn't have--
A cry pulled Avani from her thoughts. She froze and remained airborne, scanning the ground for the source of the noise. A lamppost had been broken, fallen in the middle of the street with the light erratically flickering. Cars and motorcycles had been tipped or partially crushed during the fray, and a few storefronts had been damaged--broken glass and bits of stone littering the sidewalk. In the faint glow of nearby light, she caught movement. There. Avani swooped down and gently landed near a car door. It had been ripped from the vehicle and rested on the sidewalk. Someone was pinned beneath it.
"H-Hello? Is...Is someone there?" asked the voice of a young girl.
Avani's eyes widened as she approached the door. "Hey, it's okay. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm Avani, what's your name?" She sat on her knees and smiled at the pinned girl. She had pale pink skin and small horns poking up from dark brown hair. She certianly had some infernal blood, assuming she wasn't just fully infernal.
The child sniffed and met Avani's gaze with watery eyes. "My name's Hyacinth. I-I got separated from my brother, have you seen him?" Avani studied the area, grimacing as she glanced over the bodies. It was hard to make out too many details on the fallen, but thankfully, none of them appeared to resemble the girl.
"I'm sorry, I'm afraid I haven't seen him. I can help you find him though, after we get you out from under this thing, okay? Just give me a moment." After a quick examination of the situation, Avani positioned herself in a squat to one side of the door and grabbed the edge. She rose, lifting it as she reached her full height, then straining, she shoved it to the ground. It landed with a metallic bang, causing Hyacinth to flinch at the noise. Avani leaned down to help her up as a burst of scarlet and gold erupted to life in the air around them. The two of them froze, mesmerized by the sight.
Nearby, Avani noticed the magic concentrate on certian areas before dissipating into wisps. It seemed the sight was some sort of magic to get rid of the monsters, or at least what remained of them. Pulling her focus away, Avani kneeled down to Hyacinth. "Are you hurt? Can you move?" The little girl stared up at her for a moment and nodded.
"My legs hurt a little, but I think I can move." After Hyacinth sat up, Avani examined the girl. Besides a couple of scrapes, she seemed to be relatively okay. She helped her to her feet, ready to bring Hyacinth to safety. Avani paused, then quickly turned the girl towards her and made sure Hyacinth focused on her. Despite the magic, there were still bodies and blood everywhere--things too grim for someone so young to see.
"Would you be alright with me carrying you? I'm sure you're fine with walking, but you must be tired after all that and I won't have you straining yourself too much if your body isn't ready for it." Hyacinth thought for a moment and lightly nodded.
"I'm fine with it. I mean, you're a heavenly and can heal and stuff. That means you know what you're talking about." Avani lightly laughed as she took Hyacinth into her arms, and gently held the back of the girl's head to her shoulder. She wouldn't see anything.
As they moved through eerie streets, Avani kept an eye out for other survivors. It was a small hope she would find anyone else, though perhaps they still hid or had already been saved.
"Avani?"
"Yeah?
"Do you think my brother's okay?"
Avani sucked in a breath. "I...I don't know, Hyacinth. I would love to tell you that he's fine, but I'd be lying." Hyacinth tightened her hold on Avani and buried her face into her shoulder. They were silent for a moment. "Do you want to tell me about him?"
"My brother's name is Irving. He's really good at using water vis, though he's not as good as our mom yet. He wants to study plants, or flowers, or something like that and is really smart. He was taking me out to get ice cream when...the attack happened. He hid me, then went to...I don't know, fight or lead the monsters away. I really hope he's okay."
Avani rubbed Hyacinth's back, much like how she would comfort her siblings and cousins after a nightmare. They made thr rest of the trip in silence, eventually reaching a safe point where survivors were gathered and cared for. People in red and gold armor moved about the area, patrolling nearby streets or guarding survivors while medics treated the injured. Most of the medics, unsurprisingly, were heavenlys. People barely paid her and Hyacinth any mind as they made their way through the temporary camp.
Avani let Hyacinth look around now that they were away from the carnage on the streets. The worst injuries they saw were cuts or broken limbs, which were actively cared for. Though she was helping Hyacnith search for her brother, she also kept an eye out for Lilah. Perhaps she was safely tucked away in one of the tents, or in the worse case, currently at a hospital being treated for injuries.
"Do you see your brother?" she asked as she looked over the people close by.
"No, I... Wait, I think I found him! Hyacinth jerked to the side. Avani had to follow her movement to avoid losing her balance. The girl was surprisingly strong for her size. A boy who had to be no older than sixteen or seventeen sat alone. He had pale pink skin and brown hair similar to Hyacinth's with bandages on his forehead and right arm. Avani set the eager girl down. She wasted no time rushing to him.
"Irving! Irving!"
"Hyacinth?!" The boy looked up and jumped to his feet at the sound of his sister's voice. Worry melted from his face and was replaced with joy and relief. Irving limped toward her with open arms, then embraced the girl. Avani watched the pair for a moment with a small smile, and lightly brushed her fingers against the amulet. Terrible things had transpired that night. Too many people died scared and powerless to the strange beasts, and as the days passed, the extent of the night's events would be revealed. But despite the sense of loss, Avani smiled. Irving and Hyacinth were safe and together again. Even in the face of tragedy, there was still warmth. Avani squeezed the amulet, a newfound determination blossoming. There would be no more tragedies like Sanctum's. Not if she could help it.
A faint tug pulled Avani from her thoughts. Right, Lilah was still out there and the others were still looking for her. Avani glanced back at the siblings one last time. "Thank you!" Irving called. Avani smiled at him and dipped her head before heading off to find her friends.
↞☼↠✹↞☼↠
It didn't take long for Avani to rejoin with the group. She told them she had no luck in finding Lilah, and only mentioned the people in red and gold armor. The group didn't run into anyone as they continued their search. The only constants were the corpses that littered the streets. Avani forced herself to keep her focus on Lilah. The people would be taken care of and given the proper respects they deserved; she was needed with her friends now.
With the efforts of Alex and Clarisse, they finally found their missing mage. Avani smiled lightly at Lilah. She would've squeezed her shoulder in reassurance or given her a hug if the others weren't between her and the mage. "It's okay Lilah, you don't have to apologize. The important thing is we're here now, together, and we're relieved to have found you safe." Though she wasn't sure how much comfort her words would bring, she hoped it would ease some of her worries.
"What are we going to do now?" Lilah wondered. That was a good question, what was the plan now that they were all together?
It was Caspian who spoke up first. He placed himself between Lilah and the rest of the group so they could focus on him, then began to lay out a semblance of a plan. The only problem with it was some if the things he said "I think that's a good start," Avani quickly agreed. She cast a quick glance over the other three, unsure how they would react to his comments.
"Does anyone have a good place we can further discuss our matters?" Caspian likely had something in mind already, but perhaps the others knew of a secure place to talk. Though not on the outskirts of Sanctum, Avani remembered Lu's uncle's tea shop. Unfortunately, she wasn't sure how easy it was to reach it at the moment. For the time being, Avani kept quiet about it.
(I was going to have this out last night, but there was still so much to do, so you get it today instead. And technically I was hoping to post it Thursday, but that didn't happen. Oh well, at least I got it up before the week was up~ I debated whether or not to add that little side mission in for Avani, especially because I was worried it to be a bit shoehorn in. But I was nearly a thousand words in, I had fun with it, and I liked how it turned out, so it got to stay in. Also, it was nice to add something a bit more lighthearted in as well.) And Incorrect Quotes The Prophecy Crew Clarisse: If it were up to me, they would revoke your driver's license. Alex: They are more than welcome to considering I do not have one. Clarisse: Clarrise: Oh Rafe. Alex, driving a motorcycle: What's the matter, officer? Cop: You're receiving a ticket for having four people on one motorcycle. Lilah: Dammit. Caspian: Wait, four? Cop: Uh, yeah? Avani: Skies above, CLARISSE FELL OFF!!! Avani: Underneath it all, you are a very nice person, I think. Caspian: Repeat that disgusting slander again and you'll be hearing from my lawyers. Lilah to the Crew: Hey, guess what you're accessories to? Alex: You guys cannot keep brining home "pets". We are going to have to implement a No Animals policy. Avani, holding a pigeon: That's not fair! Caspian: Yeah. You can't just kick Clarisse out like that! Lilah: I got something I want to show you. Clarisse: Okay. Lilah: This is Alex, my child. Alex: Clarisse: Mhm. Lilah: This is my cheerful child, Avani. Clarisse: ...Okay Lilah: And this is my dramatic child, Caspian. Clarisse: Lilah... Lilah: What? Clarisse: You can't just go around adopting people when you're sad. Caspian: Oh, so I'M where you draw the line?! Avani: I have been meowing back and forth with my cat for the last fifteen minutes. Avani: Turns out it was actually just me and Clarisse meowing at each other from different rooms. Alex: Those bumper cars were so much fun! Caspian: That was the parking lot. Caspian: Next time I'm driving. Lilah: You read my diary? Avani: At first, I didn't know it was your diary. I thought it was a very sad handwritten book. Lilah: Can you guys try to see things from my perspective? Clarisse: *Crouches down* Alex: *Kneels* Caspian: *Bends down* Avani: *Squats* Lilah: I hate all of you. Caspian: You can do this, Clarisse. Caspian: And you know that you can trust me. Caspian: Because I don't care enough about you to lie. Alex, slightly raising his voice: Hey, do you want chips? Caspian, one aisle away, at full volume: I'M ALWAYS A SLUT FOR DORITOS! Caspian, wearing an apron with a towel over his shoulder: Alex! Avani, also wearing an apron: Hey, you're home! Alex: ...Wha- Clarisse: I fixed the windows for you! Avani, opening the oven: I made dinner! Lilah: We missed you! Alex: Everyone, please! Alex: We are in an Ikea, behave! Avani: You are all my family, I care about you and I would give my life for each of you. The Crew: And we would do the same for you. Avani, suddenly emotional: Please don't. Some Rando: Oh, he's very cute! Avani: Thanks! He's a rescue. Caspian: You got to stop calling me that. Avani: We'll handle this the same way we always do! Clarisse: Brute strength? Lilah: Almost dying? Alex: Making corpses? Caspian: Looking fabulous? Avani: What--no! By sticking together and never giving up! Clarisse: I love this picture of us. We were so happy. Alex: Where is Caspian? Clarisse: He wasn't part of the team yet. That's why we were so happy. Clarisse: If I run and leap at Avani, she will most certianly catch me in her arms. Clarisse, running towards Avani: Coming in! Avani: NO! I'm holding coffee! Avani: *Drops coffee and catches Clarisse* Caspian: Do you value your friends? You should. Caspian: Lilah, 5 dollars Caspian: Zane, 3 dollar Caspian: Alex, 4 dollars Caspian: Clarisse, -7 dollars Caspian: Avani, 5-- Avani: Rude, but actually, all of my friends are priceless. Caspian: Yeah, well mine are worth 10 dollars collectively. Caspian: If there's going to be a big dramatic scene, wait until I get back. Lilah: Of course! I can't flip this table by myself. What do you do when a guy takes off his shirt and picks a fight with you? Alex: Be the bigger person and walk away. Zane: Establish rules and the terms of victory and defeat so each one of us can keep our honor. Lilah: Strike first. Aim for his kneecaps. Caspian: Lower my mental facilities to make it fair. Crispen: Kiss him. Avani: It depends, why does he want to fight me? Lucrecia: Cry? He's picking a fight with me and not someone else, right? Lysandra: Fight dirty. Kick him in the croch. Clarisse: Pick up his shirt and put it on to establish dominance. Caspian: I hate you. Avani: Not according to this picture I drew of us holding hands, maybe check your facts next time. Caspian: You ran over a person! Alex: You said "hit it"! Caspian: I meant the breaks! Alex: No one means the breaks when they say "hit it". Caspian: I do! Especially when the sentence right before was "get ready to hit the breaks". Alex: ... Alex: You said "hit it". Clarisse, hanging on for dear life: WHERE THE HELL DID YOU LEARN HOW TO DRIVE?! Alex: Mario Kart. Caspian: If Clarisse and I were drowning, who would you save? Alex: You two cannot swim? Clarisse: It's a hypothetical question, Alex! Who would you save? Alex: My time and effort. Lilah: I really like this whole "good guy, bad guy" thing you guys have going on. Clarisse: It's not an act, it's just that I'm mean and Avani isn't. Clarisse: I asked him if he's like to play catch. Clarisse: He said yes. Clarisse: I said, 'Can you catch these hands?' Clarisse. He said yes. So I hit him. Clarisse: I'm not seeing a problem here. Caspian: *Holding an ice pack to his eye* Alex: I would die for you. Lilah: I would die for you first. Avani, from across the room: No one here is dying!!! Clarisse: You're obsessed with yourself. Caspian: And you're not??? Sad. Tragic. Avani: If you took a shot for every time you made a bad decision, how drunk would you be? Caspian: Maybe a bit tipsy? Lilah: Drunk. Clarisse: Wasted. Alex: Dead. Alex and Lilah Alex: One day, I'm going to get my life together. Alex: But not today, because today, I am driving a stolen cop car. Lilah: How do you turn on the lights?
Alex: Do you see the problem here? Lilah: Yes, but I choose to ignore it.
Alex: You use humor to deflect trauma. Lilah: Thank you! Alex: It is. Not a good thing. Lilah: Well, what I'm hearing is, you think I'm funny.
Alex: Hey, are you okay? Lilah: Yeah. Alex: You don't look okay... Lilah: Then stop looking.
Alex: She didn't do it. Lilah: I did it. Alex: She did not mean to do it. Lilah: I wish I'd done it sooner. Alex: She did it for benign reasons. Lilah: I did it for the worst reasons. Alex: She is sorry. Lilah: I'm never sorry. Alex: She is chastened. Lilah: I'm doing it again tomorrow.
Alex: This was a mistake. Lilah: A mistake we'll laugh about someday. Alex: Maybe, but not today. Lilah: Oh no, today's gonna be a mess.
Alex: I am going to need a human skull, and you can't ask why. Lilah: Lilah: ...Only if you don't ask why. Lilah: *Pulls out four pristine human skulls from a bag* Choose one. Alex: Lila: Alex: This one is fine.
Lilah (and some family) Therapist: I believe you said that your childhood expierence was satisfactory? Lilah: No, you misheard me. I said it was a 'sadness factory'.
Leonel: You see? I raised two completely stable children. Gabriel, standing next to Lilah: You have other kids we don't know about?
Lilah: All the haters are like "Aren't you wanted by the state?" Lilah: And it's like, I'm wanted by a lot of people, okay? That's the price of being pretty. Lilah: Anyway, I did commit a smidge of treason.
Lilah: For Halloween, I'm going as a disappointment to my family. Gabriel: At least you don't need to by a costume.
Lilah: You can't think of one thing that you like about me? Gabriel: *Thinks it over* Gabriel: I like it when you're sad.
Lilah: My father may have raised an emotionally vacant child with severe depression and anxiety... Lilah: But he didn't raise a quitter.
Lilah: People say it like it's a bad thing, you know, running away from your problems. But if your problems never catch up with you, what's the hitch?
Lilah: Helpful grammar tip: "farther" is for physical distance, "further" is for metaphorical distance, and "father" is for emotional distance.
Lilah: Did you just call me a shrimp you dirtbag?! I'm still growing, dammit!
Lilah: Now, the recipe calls for two shots of vodka. Lilah: *Upends the bottle*
Alex Cop: I'm going to need to see your license and registration please. Alex: You guys need to get a grip and be consistent. I mean come on! Alex: One day you take away my license and the next day you want to see it?
Alex: *Gets into some rich guy's car* Some rich guy: What are you doing? Alex: I'm gonna drive. Rich guy: You can't do that! Alex: I have my license! Rich guy: THIS IS NOT YOUR CAR!
Alex: After expierencing "feelings", I have decided that this just is not for me, but thank you for the opportunity.
Alex: What do you mean Just Standing There Ominously doesn't count as socializing?
Alex: Like they say, "If you can't beat them, curl up in a ball and protect your organs."
Alex: You can de-escalate literally any situation by asking "are we about to kiss"? Alex: Does not work with getting out of speeding tickets, though.
Avani Avani: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you again for taking advantage of my compassionate and forgiving nature! How dare you!
Avani: I am going to aggressively advocate for your self-care.
Avani: I'm a nice person, but I'm about to start throwing rocks at people.
Avani: Can I offer you a nice stick in this trying time?
Avani: Anybody got any crayons so I can color in my Ph. D.?
Clarisse Clarisse: Pleasing everyone is impossible, buuuuuut pissing everyone off is easy and fun.
Clarisse: A fistfight CAN be romantic.
Clarisse: I'm so tired of this life. I want to be a roomba. I want knives taped to me. And I want to be set loose.
Caspian Caspian: Hey, what are your pronouns? I'm talking about you behind your back.
Caspian, answering the phone: Hello? Order member: I can see you. Caspian: Caspian: Do I look good?
Caspian: Stealing is a crime and drugs is a crime too. BUT if you steal drugs, the two crimes cancel each other put and you're basically doing good. Trust me, I'm a lawyerman.
Caspian: Just took a personality test and got an A+.
Caspian: New year, same me. Because I'm perfect.
Caspian: Don't weep for the stupid. You'll be crying all day.
Caspian: I warned you. Caspian: I'm perfect.

{ Amber me 🤝 the rest of us Loving Alex (we stan an anxious king <3) and Avani (and also being willing to die for them both)
Alex: *hates contractions* Me, realizing he would despise my speaking mannerisms: 😰😔
If Caspian were real and I knew him, he 100% would have been one of the people to bully me in middle school.
Thanks for your understanding with the post too. Btw, I love your new picture for Avani's coding! And your post was excellent as always! Avani is such a sweet character and I just want her to be my friend in real life. I'm sorry if I made it difficult at all for you to incorporate your response into mine. I had a lot of written before certain other psots were up, so I just tried to change the ending to accommodate everyone's presence, but I think I failed on all ends. I'm glad you were able to make it work though. Also, one of my original battle posts also included saving an Infernal child from the ruins of a car and I thought that was an interesting coincidence. Besides, it was nice getting something lighter with Avani, a good contrast with Caspian being a total menace and everyone else's angst.
Moss, Shoot, and Ambs: Thank you, I'm glad you guys like Caspian (as a character). I'm not too pleased with how I characterized him so far myself (aside from his first post, that one felt spot-on, even though I hated it, I was in the right mindset), but at least he's annoying people. Figured we should had a token bad teammate to shake things up a bit. He will become more tolerable. Slowly. I will say, without delving too deeply into his Tragic BackstoryTM that a lot of his spite and general rudeness comes from a place of self-loathing buried beneath heavy denial. And [REDACTED] situation.
I love all of those and laughed out loud several times. Here are my incorrect quotes I've been saving up as well (some of them are near repeats from Amber's though):
Prophecy CrewTM Clarisse: Deep down, I'm sure I was always pretty okay with you. Caspian: Thanks, Clarisse! Clarisse: It wasn't a compliment, numbnuts.
Avani: How do you do that? Clarisse: I'm fearless. Caspian: I saw you run from bees yesterday. You flailed around and tripped over a chair. It was both hysterical and sad. Clarisse: I'm mostly fearless.
Clarisse: Ugh, there’s always that weak ***** in the group who isn’t down with murder. Clarisse: *glares at Avani* Avani: Well, sorry I have morals!
Avani: You believe me? Clarisse: Avani, you’re the last good person on this planet. I‘d believe cartoon birds braided your hair this morning.
Clarisse: Am I right, Caspian? Caspian: I’m almost certain you’re not, but to be fair, I wasn’t listening.
Avani: Stop setting things on fire because you're curious about what will happen. What will happen is fire. Caspian: But what if something else happens just this one time.
Avani: Dinosaurs aren't extinct. I mean, Alex is walking in this room. Lilah: *wheeze* [ not that this makes sense now, but since Alex will probably outlive the rets of prophecy crew by several centuries ]
Clarisse: I have issues. Alex: Finally, you admit it! The first step to redemption is accept- Clarisse: With you.
Clarisse: Just so everyone knows, don't ever try to climb a tree at night carrying a strobe light, owls DON'T like it. Lilah: ... what happened? Clarisse: I made a VERY bad mistake.
Lilah: We’re kind of missing something guys. Alex: Cohesion? Clarisse: Teamwork? Caspian: A general sense of what we’re doing? Avani: And Zane is not here. Alex: Oh, and that, yeah.
Lilah: Don't worry, I've got a few knives up my sleeve. Avani: I think you mean cards. Alex: She did not. Lilah, pulling out knives: I did not.
Caspian: How stupid do you think I am?! Alex: You really want an honest answer to that?
Caspian: Dearly Beloved, we are here today to remember Clarisse, taken from us in the prime of life; when she was crushed by a runaway semi, driven by the Incredible Hulk. Clarisse: Aww, you knew my favorite cause of death.
Caspian: You’re giving me a sticker? Alex: Not just a sticker. That is a sticker of a kitty saying “me-wow!” Caspian: I’m not a preschooler. Alex: Fine, I’ll take it back- Caspian: I earned this, back off!
Clarisse: Guys, I’ve been meaning to tell you… Zane and I are dating. Zane, Lilah, Avani, and Alex: *gasp* Clarisse: Zane, why are you surprised?!
Avani: A party is a celebration of a life, bringing people together to let the guest of honor know how much they're loved. Alex has done so much for us. This is our chance to do something for him. Lilah: By forcing him to have fun at a party that he doesn't want to be at? Avani: I knew you’d understand.
Alex: *texting* Hey can you pick me up I’m drunk. Alex: Oh you don't have to anymore. I'm home now. Caspian: Yes, I'm aware of that after dropping you off at home.
Lilah: Help! I’m drowning! Clarisse: Calm down. We’re only in six feet of water! Lilah: NOT ALL OF US ARE TALL!
Caspian: When do you usually go to sleep? Lilah: Whenever I collapse is entirely up to the gods.
Caspian: Damn, Alex, are you secretly cool? Alex: Well, poker is just math, so I guess it depends on if you consider the mathematician, Carl Friedrich Gauss, cool. Caspian: I do not.
Avani: You can track Lilah? Alex: Of course I can. If the NSA can do it, so can I. [ we love double meanings ]
Caspian: Someone take me to art museums and make out with me. Clarisse: But they said not to touch the masterpieces. Caspian: Well somebody's got to pin the artwork to the wall. Lilah, on a walkie talkie: This is Lilah, those idiots are ****ing around in the East wing again.
Lilah: The results are in, I’m afraid you have updog… Alex: What’s updog? Lilah: Caspian! Get in here, I told you I could do it!
[ Caspian Wants to Kiss Zane: The Ongoing Saga: ] Caspian: Is this mistletoe? Zane: Uh, no, no, that is basil. Caspian: Too bad cause if it was mistletoe I was gonna kiss you. Zane: Yeah, no, it’s still basil.
Avani: Life is like Lilah. It's short.
Clarisse: A mosquito tried to bite me and I slapped it and killed it. Clarisse: And I started thinking. Clarisse: Like, it was just trying to get food. Clarisse: What if I went to the fridge and it just slammed the door shut and snapped my neck? Lilah: Are you ok?
Avani: What do you call disobeying the law? The Squad: A hobby. Avani: *crosses her arms* The Squad: That we do not engage in.
Zane: Caspian and I got married!! Lilah: Don't share your personal problems with everyone.
Clarisse: Lilah, how could you possibly have gotten into this much trouble in one day? Lilah: It... It didn't take me the whole day...
Avani: Wow, great work on the Halloween decorations. Where did you get the fake skeletons? Clarisse: Fake?
Caspian: What does a winner do when life gives them lemons? Avani: Um, make lemonade? Caspian: No, they squeeze them right back into life’s eyes!
Clarisse: *on the phone* Hey Caspian, do you know my blood type? Caspian: Of course, it's B-. Clarisse: Oh, I guessed wrong. Excuse me, nurse-!
Caspian: *yawns* Zane: Yeah, being that pretty must be tiring. Caspian: Then you must be exhausted. Lilah: Will you two shut up? Some of us are lonely.
Avani: Why are you guys acting like this? Lilah: Oh, we're not acting. We really are like this.
Clarisse: Where is Avani? Zane: I'll do you one better, who is Avani?? Caspian: Here's a better question, why is Avani?
Lilah: Hi, could I ask how exactly does one accidentally set a lemon on fire?? Caspian: Microwave for 40 minutes. 😔 Clarisse: Why were you microwaving a lemon??? Caspian: I read boiling lemons helps cover up up bad smells (I wanted to cover up the scent of burnt oranges) but I didn't own any pots. Alex: Did you burn an orange too? How??? Caspian: Microwave for 40 minutes. 😔
Zane: So, Alex, do you have a crush on anyone? Alex: The only crush I have is this crushing anxiety.
Clarisse: Alex gave me a get better soon card. Zane: That's sweet! Clarisse: I wasn't sick, he just thinks I can do better.
Clarisse, at an awards show: Well, first of all, I’d like to thank Caspian, my best friend, for telling me Alex was going to win so don’t bother to prepare a speech.
Caspian, looking at a selfie of Avani’s: I hate this photo. Avani: I’m cute as **** in that photo! I’m smiling kindly. Caspian: You’re not smiling kindly; you look like you’re up to something. Avani: Up to kindness.
Lilah: Did you bring Alex? Caspian, gesturing to Clarisse: No, but I brought the next best thing. Lilah: Clarisse? The next best thing would be Avani. Clarisse: I would be offended, but Avani is freakishly strong.
Avani: Lilah has no survival skills, her need to win has replaced them. Alex: That can't be true! Avani: Watch this. Avani: Hey Lilah, race you to the bottom of the stairs! Lilah: *Throws herself out a window*
Clarisse: Caspian, I sense hostility. Caspian: Good, because I hate you.
Caspian: I'm gonna need a human skull but you can't ask why. Clarisse: Only if you also don't ask why. Clarisse: *pulls four pristine human skulls out of her bag* Caspian: ... Caspian, grabbing a skull: This one will do.
Clarisse: I got grounded for a whole week just because I came home late. Caspian: Well, you deserved it. I mean, getting everyone's hopes up like that and then showing up again.
Alex, knocking on the door: Lilah, open up! Lilah: It all started when I was a kid. Alex: That’s not what I- Clarisse: Let her finish!
Clarisse, talking about Caspian: Is this a friend of yours, Alex? Alex: Kind of? Not really. He's in my life and there's nothing I can do about it.
Avani: So what do you have planned for the future? Caspian: Lunch. Avani: No, like long term. Caspian: Oh... um, dinner?
Avani: Lilah, no. Lilah: Lilah, yes.
Alex: No more making fun of me when I misuse dated cultural references, alright? Are we cowabunga on this? Caspian, sighing: Fine. We're cowabunga.
Caspian: Lilah, what are you doing? Lilah: Making chocolate pudding. Caspian: It's four in the morning, why are you making chocolate pudding? Lilah: Because I've lost control of my life. Lilah: Here's your pudding, Alex. Alex: Oh that's okay, I'm not hungry anymore.
Lilah: Oh, fiddlesticks! That really ruffles my feathers! Clarisse: Please, just say ****.
Lilah: Could you guys at least try to see this from my perspective? Clarisse: *crouches down* Alex: *kneels down* Avani: *sits on the floor* Lilah: Lilah: I hate all of you.
Clarisse: This was almost a great idea. Avani: You just described 90% of our stuff.
Clarisse: I'm going to ask you to be respectful. Caspian: I will politely decline.
Alex: I don’t mean to be rude— Clarisse: Yet, sadly, accidental rudeness occurs alarmingly often.
Avani: We've got to find a way to cut down our expenses. What can we live without? Alex: Clarisse, probably.
Avani: You either buckle down and do your work or you’ll end up at McDonalds. Caspian: We're going to McDonalds if I don't do my work? Avani: NO-
Avani, near tears: Please, Clarisse, I don’t speak meme! I don't know what a 'yeet' is!
Clarisse, holding a kettle: Coffee or tea? Avani: Tea. Clarisse: Wrong. It's coffee.
Avani: It's called cauliflower, not ghost broccoli. Clarisse, eyes wide: I know what I saw.
Caspian: When I was young, I left a trail of broken hearts like a rockstar. I'm not proud of it. Lilah: You're kind of proud of it. You work it into a lot of conversations.
Lilah: Caspian, we tried things your way. Caspian: No, we didn't. Lilah: I did it in my head and it didn't work.
Lilah: Happy October 32nd! Second Halloween! Caspian: That doesn't exist. Lilah: Not with that attitude.
Caspian: It’s not gonna work, I’m not a snitch. Cop: Fine, let's try something else. Tag a friend you recently committed a crime with. Caspian: Lmao, @clarisse.
Lilah: OKAY, YOU KNOW WHAT?! TIME OUT! GET ON TOP OF THE FRIDGE! GET UP THERE! Caspian: *Climbing* THIS HOUSE IS A ****ING NIGHTMARE!!!
Caspian: I have a problem. Clarisse: If it's harder than 2+2, I can't help.
Alex, upon learning how Clarisse did a magic trick: So you’re not magic? Clarisse: Well, not really. Alex: You’re just a liar.
Caspian: Here is my wall of inspirational people. Lilah: Is that a picture of you? Caspian: Yes, I am big enough to admit that I am often inspired by myself.
Clarisse: *makes Lilah a cup of tea but puts salt in it* Lilah: *sips tea* Clarisse: Lilah: *finishes tea* Clarisse: Didn't it taste bad? Lilah: Yeah, but I didn't want to hurt your feelings so I drank it all. Clarisse, tearing up: Oh, okay.
Avani: I’m genuinely surprised you haven’t gotten arrested, let alone gotten a felony yet. Caspian: Nat 20 Charisma. Avani: That is NOT how that works-
Caspian: Lilah, can you help me? All of my clothes keep disappearing for some reason. Lilah, wearing a hoodie that's 5 times bigger than her size: Spooky. [ new headcanon that Lilah steals clothes from everyone in prophecy crew ]
Alex: Can you keep a secret? Caspian: Well, I'm good until I meet the next person.
Clarisse: I'm not that stupid! Avani: Clarisse, you literally ate the wax from a babybel. Clarisse: CASPIAN TOLD ME IT WAS EDIBLE!
Clarisse: I am an expert at identifying birds. Avani: Okay, what about those ones flying over there? Clarisse: Yeah, they're all birds.
Clarisse: Do we have any orange juice left? Caspian: *pours the remaining juice into his cup* Caspian: Sorry, we’re all out.
Clarisse: Remember that time you dared me to lick a swing set? Alex: No, I said "Clarisse, don't lick that swing set" and you said "Don't tell me what to do" and licked the swing set.
Alex: I dare you- Caspian: Clarisse is not allowed to accept dares anymore. Alex: Why not? Clarisse: "I have no regard for my own or others personal safety," as some would say.
Avani: There are three ways to handle a difficult situation. The right way, the wrong way, and the Lilah way. Clarisse: Isn't that the wrong way? Avani: Yes, but it's faster.
Alex: Coca Cola can remove rust from metal, imagine what it’s doing to your body. Avani: Pfff, getting rid of the rust, idiot. Alex: THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS! Lilah: Hmm... I've been drinking soda and my body's rust free... not sure where you're getting your facts from...
Lilah: It's locked. You got a lock pick? Caspian: Yeah- Clarisse: *kicks in the door*
Avani: Come on Caspian, do it for our friendship. You can't put a price on that... Caspian: Yes I can, dear. Fifty dollars.
*Everyone is playing a board game together* Caspian: I will put 'A' down to make 'A'. Avani: I will add onto your 'A' to make 'AT'. Alex: I will add onto your 'AT' to make 'RAT'. Lilah: I will add onto your 'RAT' to make 'BIOSTRATAGRAPHIC'. Alex: *flips the board*
Alex: Do you even know what an amulet is? Clarisse: Of course I do! I eat amulets sometimes. I like the ones with cheese and onions! Alex: Clarisse, those are omelets. Clarisse: Oh. Then I’ve got nothing.
Clarisse: Sorry I'm late, I was doing stuff. Caspian: YOU PUSHED ME DOWN THE ****ING STAIRS!
Caspian: It's not our fault! Clarisse: Yeah, but... Come on, the least we can do it talk to them. Caspian: No, the least we could do is nothing!
Caspian: What is this!? Lilah: That’s the weight of guilt. Give in to the nice side. Help those unfortunate, and make the guilt go away, my friend. Caspian: Ow! Make it stop! Lilah: Surrender to your kindness, Caspian. It’s nice to be nice. Caspian: Your guilt is strong, my friend. But it is no match for the power of my selfishness!
Caspian: The time to act is now. Caspian: Wink, wink. Clarisse: Don't say "wink wink." Just wink. Caspian: Oh, sorry. Caspian: Wink.
Avani: Words ending in 'ie' just sound so adorable. Like cutie, sweetie, cookie- Lilah: Eyy, homie! Alex: But then there's cootie... Clarisse: Die.
Clarisse: Uh, I think I got your lunch. *Holds up a note that reads: ‘I am very proud of you. Love, Lilah’* Alex: Oh yeah. I didn’t think this was for me. *Holds up a note that reads: ‘Be good. For the love of Yarah, Please be good.’* [ new headcanon that Avani and Lilah make lunches for everyone in the crew and leave notes for them ]
Caspian: We can bake these cookies at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or 4,000 degrees for 1 minute. Avani: No, that's not how you make cookies. Clarisse: FLOOR IT!! Caspian: How about 4,000,000 degrees for 1 second?!? Avani: yOU'RE GONNA BURN THE HOUSE DOWN- Caspian: I'M GONNA HARNESS THE POWER OF THE ****ING SUN TO MAKE COOKIES! Clarisse: DO IT! Avani: NO-
Avani: How long do you think it'll take? Clarisse: I don’t know, three or four. Avani: Three or four what? Days? Weeks? Months? Clarisse: Yeah, maybe five. Avani: Five what?!
Clarisse: Happy Scorpio season. If you have to burn a bridge, do it safely! Lilah: With NAPALM.
Lilah: Without ugly, there would be no beauty in this world. Caspian: Thank you for your sacrifice, Clarisse.
Alex: Remember, Clarisse, don't do anything I wouldn't do. Clarisse: I think I crossed that line when I got a date.
Caspian: Don’t go picking a fight with me. I could make your life difficult. Lilah, sarcastically: Wow. I wonder what it’d be like to have a difficult life.
Clarisse: I’ve been sleeping so little the past few nights that when I go to the alarm app, I click on the “power nap” button. I don’t set up alarms, I set up timers, Avani.
Caspian: *slams books down in front of Clarisse* Caspian: Boil up some Mountain Dew. It’s gonna be a long night. Clarisse: You could have said literally anything else. Caspian: Cauldron boil and cauldron bubble, Baja Blast to fuel my trouble. Clarisse: I’m going to just stop challenging you when you say random ****. I won’t win. I realize this now.
Caspian: Love makes people do stupid things. Avani: I love everything! Caspian: That explains a lot.
Lilah: There was a motor close to where I am right now. Caspian: A motor- a motorcycle? Lilah: Oh sorry, a murder. Avani: That escalated quickly.
Caspian: If you took a shot for every time you made a bad decision, how drunk would you be? Avani: Maybe a bit tipsy? Clarisse: Drunk. Alex: Wasted. Lilah: Dead.
Caspian: How many vampires do you think have been hit by a car backing up in a parking lot because the driver couldn’t see their reflection? Clarisse: I’ve never considered it but you’re really shining light on what’s probably a very serious issue.
Lilah: I thought you were going to give me a book recommendation or something. Caspian: *laughs* Book recommendation? I can’t read!
Avani: Do you ever want to talk about your emotions, Alex? Alex: No. Lilah: I do! Avani: I know, Lilah. Lilah: I’m sad. Avani: I know, Lilah.
Alex: Make no mistake. Not only am I party rocking, but I am also in the house tonight. Lilah: But are you shuffling? Alex: Everyday. Clarisse: What language are you two speaking??
Alex: Lilah just said "I have an appetite for destruction" and then she reached down and untied my shoe.
Alex: Hello Caspian, made anyone cry today? Caspian: Sadly, no. But it’s only 4:30.
Avani: Baby vibes... hold gentle... like hamburger. Caspian: Punt like football.
Avani: You bought a taco? Caspian: Yes. Avani: From the same truck that hit Clarisse?! Caspian, with a mouthful of taco: Well, me starving ain't gonna help her.
Avani: What is wrong with you? Lilah: Loaded question. Elaborate.
Alex: We’re about to do the tazer challenge. You want in? Clarisse: What's the taser challenge? Lilah: We taze each other, then drink. Clarisse: How do you win? Alex: What are you, a lawyer? You want in or not?
Alex: I can’t tell if you’re a genius or just incredibly arrogant. Caspian: Well, on a good day, I’m both.
Lilah: I wanna die. Clarisse: We all do, you aren't special!
Caspian: Why are you drinking? Lilah: I drink when I'm sad. Caspian: But you're always drinking? Lilah: *smug grin*
Alex: I’m sad. Avani: Don’t be sad, because sad backwards is das. Avani: And das not good.
Alex: For self defense reasons, I'm going to pretend to be a burglar and you guys have to act wisely. Clarisse, Lilah, & Caspian: Okay. Alex: If you don't want to die, give me all your money. Clarisse: Bold of you to assume I have money. Lilah: Bold of you to assume I don't want to die. Caspian: Bold of you to assume I can die.
Clarisse: They don’t make them like me no more. I’m the last of my kind. Caspian: Thank the spirits.
Lilah: Who's in charge here? Caspian, shrugging: Usually whoever yells the loudest.
Clarisse: Are you ever going to listen to me? Alex: Yes. Absolutely. Clarisse: When? Alex: When you're right.
Caspian: I think I just figured something out. I got to go. Clarisse: Aren't you forgetting something? Caspian: Uuh... *hesitantly kisses Clarisse's forehead before running out.* Clarisse: No, pay your bill! Damn, who raised you?
Lilah: What happened to your nose? Caspian: I used it to break some guy's fist.
Alex: Prepare to feel really bad about yourself. Caspian: I’ve been prepared for that my entire life. Alex: Caspian: Or something mean about you.
Caspian: We have a problem. Clarisse: No, YOU have a problem. I have an idiot who keeps making them.
Avani: Count me in! Clarisse: Who the hell are you?! Avani: Oh, you know my sister! She worked at Wendy's. Clarisse: Oh yeah, Lilah! How is she doing? Avani: Oh yeah, not too good. She's been dead for the past month. Caspian: What the hell, she didn't tell us!
Clarisse: Alex isn’t answering my messages. Lilah: Allow me. Clarisse: I tried 6 times, what makes you thi- Alex: *replying to message* Hello.
[ i like these ones because they are inverses ] Alex, at an awards show: Well, first of all, I’d like to thank Lilah, my best friend, for telling me Clarisse was going to win so don’t bother to prepare a speech.
Clarisse: What goes up but never comes down? Alex: The amount of stress you're bringing this family.
Caspian: How would you like your coffee? Avani: As dark as my soul. Caspian: Got it, one cup of milk coming right up!
Clarisse, Caspian & Alex: *screaming* Lilah: *runs into the room* What's wrong, Alex?! Clarisse: Wait, why are you asking Alex that when Caspian and I are also here? Lilah: Because Alex wouldn't scream unless it's an emergency. You two scream whenever you have the chance.
Caspian: I regret nothing!!! Alex: I regret everything!!!
Clarisse: I wasn’t that drunk. Avani: You colored my face with a highlighter because you said I was important. Clarisse: BECAUSE YOU ARE!
Alex: ... My man Clarisse just killed a goldfish. Clarisse: *licking her lips* Yup. Delicious.
Alex: I'm bored, any suggestions? Avani: Sleeping is nice. Alex: I acknowledge your suggestion, and I’m deciding to ignore it.
Clarisse: I hope you have an explanation for this. Caspian: We have three actually- Lilah: Pick your favorite.
Lilah: *looks at Alex* Lilah: Baby boy. Baby. Lilah: *looks at Caspian* Lilah: Evil.
Caspian: Enough! How dare you mock me in such a manner!? Lilah: Well. How would you like me to mock you? I take requests.
Lilah, to Clarisse: How do you tell someone politely you want to hit them with a brick?
Clarisse: You made enough pasta that you could take it to lunch tomorrow. Put it in a container. Caspian: Shovel the pasta into your face. Do it. Put it in your face. The future is meaningless but the pasta is now.
Clarisse: How would you like your coffee? Lilah: As dark and as bitter as my soul. Clarisse, shouting to someone behind the counter: I need one vanilla latte with extra cream and sugar!
Clarisse: I’ve only had Avani for a day and a half but if anything happened to her I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.
Clarisse: I fell— Caspian: From heaven? Clarisse: No, I literally fell— Caspian: In love with me the moment you saw me? Clarisse: MY ARM IS BROKEN! Caspian: Okay, but do you think I'm pretty? Be honest.
Clarisse: Hey there demons, It's me, ya boi. Caspian: Clarisse, NO!
Avani: Why were you up yesterday until 3am? Clarisse: How did you know I was up until 3am? Lilah: We could hear you clapping to the FRIENDS intro every 25 minutes.
Clarisse: Your lover doesn't have the mental strength to caramelize onions. Avani: Your lover thinks it takes 5-10 minutes to caramelize onions. Alex: Who's ****ing caramelizing onions? Have you all forgotten that apples exist? Lilah: Do you think caramelizing onions is putting caramel on onions.
Avani: *is hugging Lilah* Clarisse: Hey! It's my turn to hug Lilah! Clarisse: *grabs Lilah* Alex: *kicking down the door* What do you mean, "yOuR tUrN"? We agreed now is my time slot! Avani: No, it’s still my turn! Lilah: *suffocating* Guys, I love you, but just because I'm the smallest doesn't mean you can be hugging me constantly! Clarisse: But we need the moral support! Avani: And you're small! Which is cute! Alex: If I don't hug you right now I think the depression will kick in and my body will stop functioning. Lilah: *close to tears* Well- I, I guess.
Clarisse, singing to the tune of I Kissed a Girl: I killed a guy, and I liked it- Alex, whispering: Should we call the exorcist? Lilah, also singing: The taste of his cherry Chapstick. Caspian, appalled: Call the exorcist.
Alex: What's gone wrong, Clarisse? Clarisse: Hey! That’s one hell of a thing to say to a person. Just because I’m calling doesn’t mean there’s a crisis. Alex: That’s technically true, I suppose. Why are you calling? Clarisse: Well... There’s a crisis.
Alex: Are you really planning to shoot the demon? Caspian: Don't worry, it's a holy gun. Alex: How so? Caspian: It makes holes.
Clarisse: Oh, here’s my award for the most rules broken! Caspian: That’s not an award, it’s an angry letter from our boss. Clarisse, hanging it on her wall: Well, it has the word ‘most’ in it, so I’m calling it an award!
Clarisse: You know, Alex gives Caspian flowers everyday, I wish you'd do that too. Zane: Okay. *Later* Zane: *gives Caspian flowers* Caspian: ??? Zane: I don't know, I'm confused as well.
Clarisse: You know, Alex gives Zane flowers everyday, I wish you'd do that too. Caspian: Okay. *Later* Caspian: *gives Zane flowers* Zane: ??? Caspian: I don't know, I'm confused as well. [ the fact that I managed to get both of these was too funny not to include for me
and Clari never got her flowers ]
Lilah: It was difficult, so you’ve just given up. You might fail, so why bother trying? Clarisse: Exactly. Clarisse, to Avani: I told you she’d understand.
Lilah: Caspian got into a fight. Alex: That’s bad. Alex: Alex: Did he win?
Avani: That was the worst throw ever. Of all time. Caspian: Not my fault. Somebody put a wall in the way.
Caspian: When was the last time you cried? Avani: Uh 15 minutes ago, why?? Caspian: really? That recent? Avani: Yeah *voice crack* is that an issue? *starts crying again*
Alex: That sounds like a terrible plan. Avani: Oh, we've had worse.
Alex: I assume you realize that this kind of idiocy will not be tolerated in this house. Lilah: Is there any kind of idiocy you would be more comfortable with?
Clarisse: If you don't stop talking, I'm going to jump out of that window. Caspian: ... We're on the ground floor. Clarisse: I know but I want a dramatic exit.
Clarisse: Wait a minute, how did this happen? We're smarter than this! Avani: Apparently, we're not.
Clarisse: You deserve a reward for putting up with me. Avani: You are my reward. *meanwhile* Lilah: You deserve a reward for putting up with me. Alex: True, you can be really difficult at times.
Clarisse: I'm going to take a shower, I'll be right back. Avani: Why are you telling me this, I don't care. Avani, right after Clarisse leaves the room: I miss her already.
Avani, gently nudging Caspian aside with her foot: Caspian, move out of the way so I don’t trip on you. Caspian, his eyes enormous: You kick Caspian? You kick his body like the football? Oh! Oh! Jail for Avani! Jail for Avani for one thousand years!
Caspian: That's it, I'm cutting off the internet! Clarisse: No, please don't! I have a family to feed! Caspian: Caspian: What? Clarisse: I need to feed my Neopets!
Caspian: Have I ever told you that you cook well? Avani: Awww, no, you haven't! Caspian: So why do you keep cooking?
Alex: What is everyone for Halloween? Avani: I’m superman. Caspian: A clown. Alex: So I’m guessing we don’t need to get you a costume then?
Avani, teaching Alex to drive: Okay, you're driving and Lilah and Clarisse walk into the road. Quick, what do you hit? Alex: Oh, definitely Clarisse. I could never hurt Lilah. Avani, massaging her temples: The brakes. You hit the brakes.
Caspian: Okay, if we can't do it by sheer force, we'll do it my way. Alex: But your way is sheer force!
Avani: Hey Caspian, do you wanna help us? Caspian: Oh, I would... but I don’t want to.
Caspian: When I first met you, I did not like you. Clarisse: I'm aware of that. Caspian: But then you and I had some time together. Clarisse: Uh-huh? Caspian: It did not get better.
Caspian: What has the galaxy ever done for you?! Why would you wanna save it?! Clarisse: Cause I’m one of the idiots who lives in it!
Caspian: Hey, Avani. What kind of flowers do you prefer? Avani: I like sunflowers. Caspian, pulling out a bouquet of Venus Flytraps: Well, ****-
Avani: Oh, fiddlesticks. Clarisse: Look, I understand this is a tense situation, but let's watch the ****ing language.
Caspian: What's this? Avani, hugging Caspian: Affection! Caspian: Disgusting. Caspian: ... Do it again.
Clarisse: Caspian isn't talking to me. Alex: Enjoy it while it lasts.
Alex: What would Avani think? Clarisse: Ok, that’s an interesting thought, but hear me out: what if… we ran an experiment where we spent the rest of our lives finding out what happened if we never told her?
Alex: Are you mad? Caspian: No. Alex: So sharpening your knives at 3 in the morning is just a hobby?
Lilah: Bridge the generation gap by combining old and new slang into one! Avani: Tubular AF! Caspian: Mood to the max! Clarisse, annoyed: Groovy, I hate it. Alex, just as annoyed: If she breathes, she’s a square.
Clarisse: Hopefully Caspian has learned a lesson about respecting other people's feelings. Caspian: Oh, shut up and die Clarisse.
Lilah: Is anyone going to tell me what's going on in here?! Alex: It's kind of complicated, but Caspian- Lilah: Got it. Forget I asked.
Caspian: I am your king, long may I reign! Lilah: Well I didn’t vote for you! Caspian: You don’t vote for kings. Lilah: Well how’d you become king then? Clarisse: Avani of the Lake, their arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Caspian, was to carry Excalibur. That is why I am your king. Lilah: Listen. Strange people lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
Clarisse: You people don’t know about my knife stick. It’s a knife taped to a stick and it’s the ultimate weapon. Lilah, not looking up from her book: Spear. Clarisse: BLOCKED.
Clarisse: If I run at Avani there is a 100% chance she will catch me. Alex: Prove it. Clarisse: Avani! INCOMING! Avani: NO WAIT I'M HOLDING TEA- *Clarisse runs/jumps and Avani catches her, spilling hot tea on her foot.* Clarisse: Oh
Avani: Caspian, you risked your life to save me! Caspian: And I’d do it again! And perhaps a third time! But that would be it.
Alex: Caspian is having a midlife crisis, and Lilah is just having a crisis.
Caspian: So, what’s going on between you and Avani? I’m sensing some tension. Caspian, later, to Lilah: I didn’t sense any tension, I just wanted some drama and I figured Clarisse and Avani were a good start.
Caspian: You guys should get the orange one, it's really good. Lilah: Okay. Waiter: May I take your order? Alex: I'll take the strawberry soda. Lilah: Me too, please. Caspian:
Caspian: We can’t tell you because you’re not a member of the club. Lilah: What club? Clarisse: The hating Lilah club. Lilah: … The ****? I should be the leader of that club!
Avani: Can I have some? Clarisse, mouth full of cheesecake: It's really spicy, you wouldn't like it.
*Avani falls over* Clarisse: Avani! Are you alright? Avani: Is that you, Yarah? Clarisse: What? Avani: It's just, you sound a lot more like Clarisse than I expected.
Avani: I just had a long talk with Caspian and Clarisse about hitting and now they are yelling “It’s my turn to perpetuate the cycle of violence” before hitting each other.
Clarisse: A theif. Avani: Thief? Clarisse: Theif. Avani: I before E, except after C. Clarisse: Thceif. Avani: No.
Lilah: *Sneaking into the kitchen at night* Clarisse: Who are you? Lilah, panicking: Clarisse. Clarisse: Oh, okay. *Leaves* Clarisse: Clarisse: Wait, I’m Clarisse!
Clarisse: I'm the kind of person that thinks things through. Lilah: Since when? I once saw you eat a marshmallow that was still on fire.
Alex: I'll offer you some friendly advice- Caspian: I don't want your advice. Alex: Well, then consider it unfriendly advice.
Lilah: Is Caspian always like this when he loses? Alex: Oh, yes. You should've been there for the Great Jenga Tantrum of 2015. Caspian: You bumped that table and you know it!
Lilah: I don't have enough energy for this. Clarisse: For what? Lilah: *Gestures vaguely*
Avani: I sent good vibes your way. You can’t stop them, they’re coming. Caspian: That is the most threatening way I’ve ever been cheered up.
Clarisse: So you just woke up this morning and decided to be straight up aggressive instead of the usual passive aggressive? Caspian: I’m not being aggressive? Lilah: Hey, don’t fight in front of the bacon.
Clarisse: This is so frustrating! I hate everything, I hate everybody! Avani: E- Everybody? Clarisse, sighing: Everybody except you.
Clarisse: If there are sides and Caspian is on one... Then I am most definitely on the other.
Clarisse: I have an idea. Alex: A good idea? Clarisse: Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Lilah: I'm pretty easygoing. Clarisse: I once saw you measure a ruler with another ruler. Lilah: It was off by half a centimeter. It never should have been in circulation.
Avani: Is anyone else scared? Lilah: Not really. I've already lived longer than expected.
Clarisse: Trust fall! Avani, scoffing from across the room: I’m not gonna catch you. Clarisse: Trust. Fall. Avani: I said no- Clarisse: I’m falling!! Avani: WAIT, WAIT NO- Avani: *Dives on the ground to catch her*
Avani: Was the moon landing fake? Alex, joking: You believe in the moon? Clarisse: The moon is made of cheese! Lilah: I will catapult you three into the sun.
Avani: If you keep ignoring your feelings like this, you’ll eventually break down. Lilah, tired: Bold of you to assume I’m not already. Lilah: So what’s the plan? Alex: I don’t know. You’re smart, *Points at Clarisse* she's mean, come up with something.
Alex and LilahAlex: Oh, my God. Do you know what this is? Lilah: It’s a book. There’s a lot of those in here, this is a library.
Alex: Watcha doin? Lilah: Stealing my neighbor's cat. Alex: Scandalous. Alex: Can I help?
Alex: You have your weirdly sincere humility. Lilah: I prefer the term "self-loathing," actually.
Lilah: You are, of course, wondering why it is I have brought you here tonight. Alex: Actually, Lilah, after all these years, I just sort of go with it.
Lilah: Good morning! Alex, checking his watch: Correct.
Alex: I am in charge of this disaster! Lilah: I have a name, you know.
Lilah: How are you today? Alex: Please don’t make me think about my life.
Lilah: Hey, can I get a sip of that water? Alex: It’s not water. Lilah: Vodka! I like your sty- Alex: It’s vinegar. Lilah: … What? Alex: It's vinegar, *****.
Lilah, looking at her reflection: Now, that's rubbish. Who's that supposed to be? Alex: Well, that's you. Lilah: Me?! Is that what I look like? Alex: You don't know? Lilah: Busy day.
Lilah: Good morning! Alex: Is it? Is it really?
Alex: What is your favorite mythical story? Lilah: The Story of My Will to Live. Alex: I don’t think I’ve heard of that one before.
Alex: Someone’s trying to break in. Call the cops! Lilah: *loads wand* I got this. Alex: Last week you fell up the stairs, what do you mean-
Alex: Look, Lilah, it's the third time this week you had a mental breakdown and its Monday.
Alex: Did you win? Or just not die? Alex: Either way, hooray. Lilah: ... Is "no" a valid answer? Alex: The hooray is redacted and you frighten me.
Lilah: Everything will be ok. You can not stop it. Lilah: Everything will be fine. You have no choice. Alex: What the **** kind of pep talk is that? Lilah: Ominous positivity.
Lilah: I think I should be allowed on ghost hunter tv shows. Alex: I think that would be dangerous for the ghosts.
Alex: We’ll find another route, it’s not safe for amateur adventurers. Lilah: That sounds like a challenge. Alex: I have to stress, that is not a challenge. Lilah: ... Is exactly what you say to dissuade the weak of heart from accepting the challenge. Well, challenge accepted! Alex: There is no challenge!
Lilah: When have I ever done anything rash or irresponsible? Alex: I keep a list. It's alphabetized.
Alex: You remind me of the ocean. Lilah: Because I'm deep and mysterious? Alex: No, because you're full of salt and you scare people.
AlexAlex: Well, well, well, if it isn’t the consequences of my actions.
Alex: I'd roast you, but my mom says you can't burn trash. Alex: *slow-mo walks out of the room*
Alex: Don’t weep for the stupid. You’ll be crying all day.
Alex: Do not come over to my house. If the house is on fire you may knock once, if I don’t answer assume I set the fire and I want to burn to death.
Alex: I came out here to have a good time and I'm honestly feeling so attacked right now.
Alex: It's not ugly, just aesthetically challenged.
Alex: Unfortunately, due to several experiences in my youth, I cannot just 'walk up and join a circle of people talking,' but it does sound lovely, thank you.
Alex: Welcome to my very first vlog, in which I try different hair products! Alex: *sprays hairspray in his mouth* Alex: Well, right off the bat I can tell you this one is not very good.
Alex: My expectations are low, but they can always go lower.
Alex: Dracula had it right, sleep all day, live alone in a castle, and explode into bats to get out of all social situations.
Alex: Does anyone know how to relax? Asking for a friend.
Alex: Oh, so when crows remember people who wronged them and hold grudges, its “intelligent” and “really cool”. Alex: But when I do it, I’m “petty” and “need to let it go”.
Avani (sorry there are not a lot, Avani is so hard to find quotes for) Avani: Well, needless to say. Uh-oh Spaghetti-os.
Avani: I like bees! Avani: They’re good for the environment, they make honey, and they’re cute! *Bee appears* Avani: Please don’t hurt me.
Avani: I have been tricked, I have been backstabbed, and I have quite possibly been bamboozled.
Avani, holding up her class notes: And then this doodle of a burrito because when I first read Aristotle, I thought it was pronounced like “Chipotle”. Avani, in shock: Wait a minute, is it “Chip-o-tottle”?
Avani: Physically, yes, I could fight a bird. But emotionally? Imagine the toll.
CaspianCaspian: I mean, sure, I have my bad days, but then I remember what a cute smile I have.
Caspian: You can de-escalate literally any situation by asking ‘are we about to kiss?’ Caspian: Doesn't work with getting out of speeding tickets, though.
Caspian: A fistfight CAN be romantic.
Caspian: Isn't it amazing how I can feel so bad and still look so good?
Caspian: I think we can all agree I’m the ten amongst these threes.
Caspian: Sure, you're verified on twitter, but are you verified in the eyes of the gods?
Caspian: If karma doesn't hit you, I ****ing will.
Caspian: Fool me once, I'm gonna kill you.
Caspian: So according to the cease and desist order I got, apparently you can’t ‘legally’ be a lawyer if your license is ‘cut out of a cereal box’.
Caspian: So I can either do something dumb that could very well get me injured or I can listen to Clarisse and not do the thing Caspian: Well there’s a clear right answer here. Caspian: *proceeds to throw five packs of Mentos into a barrel full of diet coke*
Police Officer: You have the right to remain silent. Caspian: I choose to waive that right! Caspian: *screaming*
Caspian: I was born for politics. I have great hair and I love lying.
Cop: You ran a red light. Caspian: So did you, hypocrite. Cop: I was following you. Caspian: That was dumb, I'm a terrible driver. Cop: Get out.
Caspian: The spirits have let me live another day and I'm going to make it everyone's problem.
Caspian, opening a Capri Sun: Guess I'll drink my sorrows away.
Caspian: Sometimes, I don’t realize an event was traumatic until I tell it as a funny story and notice everyone is staring at me weird.
Caspian: And I’d love to be sorry for that, but we all know I’ve done much, much worse.
Caspian: I do two things and two things only. I devastate sorry mother****ers, and get **** done as an awesome leader.
Caspian, wearing a shirt saying "I'm a luxury few can afford" that's all.
Caspian: Do you ever think? Because I do not.
Caspian: Dear friends, your Christmas gift this year… is me. That’s right, another year of friendship. Your membership has been renewed.
Clarisse (+ the rest of her pack) Clarisse: Hello, McDonald's, I would like to purchase 130 chicken nuggets. Prepare yourselves.
Clarisse: Don't ask me what I'm talking about. I don't know, okay? I'm just the vessel. The message has been gifted. I've moved on.
Clarisse: I have met some of the most insufferable people. But they also met me.
Clarisse: Remember that time you dared me to lick a swing-set? Zane: No, I said "Clarisse, don't lick that swing-set" and you said "Don't tell me what to do," and licked the swings-et.
Clarisse: Like they say, "If you can't beat them, curl up in a ball and protect your organs."
Clarisse: I don't follow the rules. I follow dogs on social media.
Clarisse: Zane, I screwed up, big time. Zane: Clarisse, given your daily life experiences, you’re gonna have to be more specific.
Clarisse: Why's it called an oven when you of in the cold food and you of out hot eat the food? Zane: ... What???
Clarisse: Underestimate me. That'll be fun.
Clarisse: Could you maybe just like… stab me… right in the gut. Just REALLY twist it in there. ‘Cause that honestly seems less painful than this conversation.
Clarisse: I should've left you on that street corner where you were standing. Zane: But ya' didn't!
Clarisse, very tired: Can I sleep in your bed? Zane: *half asleep* Clarisse, this is a queen-sized bed. That means it’s for *gestures vaguely to himself* the Queen.
Clarisse on Monday: *glues a dime to the sidewalk* Heh heh heh. Clarisse on Wednesday: *walking down the street* Ooh hey! A dime!
Zane: *Answers phone.* Hello? Clarisse: It's Clarisse. Zane: What did she do this time? Clarisse: No, it's me, Zane. It's actually me. Zane: What did you do this time?
Clarisse: You seem familiar... have I threatened you before?
Clarisse: If I can't cause tiny bits of chaos every day, I think my body will shut down.
Clarisse: The waiter at Olive Garden has been grating my cheese for 6 hours now, waiting for me to say when. Customers are screaming. Three people have died. Clarisse: I will not yield.
Clarisse: What doesn't kill me better start running, because now I'm ****ing pissed.
Clarisse: It's pretty cold outside.. wanna hold hands? We should stay close. Zane, blushing: Okay. Redis: It's ****ing summer.
Clarisse: I am a responsible adult! Zane: *raises brow* Clarisse: I am an adult.
*Clarisse is telling a story* Redis: Wow, Clarisse, this story has everything! Action! Adventure! Romance! Zane: Romance? Redis: I have a crush on her.
Clarisse, knocking on the door: Redis, open up! Redis: It all started when I was a kid. Clarisse: That’s not what I- Zane: Let him finish!
LilahLilah: Pros and cons of dating me. Lilah: Pros. You'll be the cute one. Lilah: Cons. Holy ****, where do I begin-
Lilah: Sometimes I'll start a sentence and I don't even know where it's going. I just hope I find it along the way.
Lilah: You were wise to seek help from the world's most deadly weapon. Lilah: It's me.
Lilah: Can I offer you a nice stick in this trying time?
Lilah: I’m gonna mix a can of Red Bull with seventeen shots of espresso in a fishbowl and then chug it while Kids by MGMT plays in the background so I can perceive twenty-three spatial dimensions and fight my own soul.
Lilah: I wasn't hurt that badly. The doctor said all my bleeding was internal, that's where the blood's supposed to be!
Lilah: I'm feeling it! What am I feeling? Death, probably.
Lilah: All the sudden I got a random burst of energy, and I think it's my body's last hurrah before it completely shut down.
Lilah: When someone points at your black clothes and asks whose funeral it is, having a look around the room and saying 'Haven’t decided yet' is typically a good response.
Lilah: You can't wake up if you never got to sleep.
Lilah: Anybody got any crayons so I can color in my Ph. D.?
Lilah: The risk I took was calculated but, man, am I bad at math.
Lilah: I don’t think the therapist is supposed to say ‘wow’ that many times during their first session with a client, but here we are.
Lilah: I think my guardian angel drinks.
Lilah: I'm a nice person, but I'm about to start throwing rocks at people.
Demon: Hey, I took your soul last month and- Lilah: No returns. Demon: *sobbing* But it's making me sad...
Harley, Al, Maddox (+ bonus younger Lilah (and by extension younger the rest of them) or later when they reunite, whatever works better) Al: Ah, Hello again. We really need to stop meeting like this. Maddox: Maybe we would, if you would sTOP BREAKING INTO MY ****ING HOUSE!!!
Harley: Assert your dominance over your friends by kicking them in the face, and then giving them a little smooch on the forehead!
Harley, in the hospital: Will you visit me when I get out? Al: Lol nah, I hate graveyards.
Maddox: I think you're still suffering the effects of your party last night. Harley: All I drank was Redbull! Maddox: How many? Harley: Eighteen.
Al: How the hells are you still alive? Harley: Honestly, I’m just as confused as you are.
Maddox: Why are you on fire? Harley: This is just how my day is going.
Maddox: You’ve got to learn to love yourself. Al: But don't you hate yourself. Maddox: Yeah, but this is about you. Stay focused.
Maddox: Blackmail is such an ugly word. I prefer extortion. The X makes it sound cool.
Al: I typed "*****" into my GPS and guess what? I'm in your driveway. Harley: Al: Vroom vroom, come out already.
Al: I should've left you on that street corner where you were standing. Maddox: But ya' didn't!
Harley: My assistance will be an act of beneviolence. Maddox: ... Don’t you mean benevolence? Harley: No.
Maddox: I dunno if I'm ready to process the ramifications of this bull****.
Maddox: Why is Harley crying? Al: He saw a leaf on the sidewalk and- Harley: IT LOOKED SO CRUNCHY! Maddox: Please don’t say what I think you’re gonna say- Harley: AND WHEN I STEPPED ON IT THERE WAS NO CRUNCH! Maddox: NO, NOT THAT!
Harley: ... I'm pretty sure that place is fire-proof, or something. Al, grenade in hand: Alright, but is it explosion-proof?
Harley, digging his grave: Long story short, this is my grave... Want me to make you one too?
Maddox: So, Al is no longer allowed to take the trash out at night. Harley: Why? Maddox: Because I've caught her trying to train raccoons to fight five times in a row. Al, arms crossed and pouting: You'll be thanking me when the third raccoon battalion saves your ***.
Al: *pitches an idea* Harley, impressed: Huh, there might be something here! Maddox, under his breath: Yeah, a lawsuit.
Harley: Are you ready to commit? Al: Like, a crime or a relationship?
Al: Here's two facts about me. Al: 1. I hate hot people. Al: 2. I'm a hypocrite.
Harley, seeing a banana on the car seat: What the ****?? Harley, buckling the banana up: ****ing buckle UP, it’s the LAW!
Al: Like, no offense to myself and all, but what the **** am I actually doing?
Harley: I’m sorry, I really flew off the handle back there. It was like the handle was a bald guy going really fast, and I was his toupee.
Al, watching power lines fall down: Maddox, Harley! The town is exploding and it's very pretty!
Harley: Go big or go home! Maddox: Please, for once in your life just go home. I'm begging you. Go. Home. Harley: I'm going big!
Harley: You're violent. Al: Yeah but I'm also short and that's adorable.
Lilah, walking into Maddox and Al’s bedroom in the middle of the night: I had a bad dream. Maddox: What was it about? Al: No, don’t ask her that! Maddox: Why not? Al: Cause she’ll answer!
Harley: You are irrationally angry 365 days a year. Al: Well, that’s just your personal opinion, I don’t have anger issues. Do you guys think I have anger issues? Lilah: Well, I wouldn’t really call it an issue. An issue is something you can fix.
Harley: And what do I get out of this? Maddox: I will give you a dollar. Harley: What do you think I am? A chump? I would never do it for a dollar! Maddox: How bout two dollars? Harley: You got yourself a deal.
Al: You're alive. Harley: There's no need to sound so disappointed.
Murderer: Any last words? Harley: Do you think I'm cute? Be honest.
Maddox: I lost Lilah. Al: How did you LOSE Lilah?! Maddox: To be fair, she is very small.
Lilah: I can't imagine what Harley is planning. But I can tell you two things. We won't like it and it won't be legal.
Maddox: You know you've made it when you see your picture everywhere you go. Lilah: Those are wanted posters!
Harley: Lilah, gather the others. We need to have another Al-is-doing-something-stupid-again-and-we-have-to-stop-her-before-she-hurts-someone convention.
Harley: You know the sound a fork makes in the garbage disposal? That's the sound that my brain makes all the time.
Harley: I'm allergic to death.
*In a horror movie situation* Lilah: I've got no service in my phone here. Harley: Shoot, my battery just died. Maddox: Sorry guys, I just broke my phone with a hammer. Al: Guys, my phone is a book.
Harley: All of your existences are confusing. The Squad: How so? Harley: Your presence is annoying, but the thought of anything bad happening to any of you upsets me.
Maddox: Swear words are illegal now. If you say one you'll be fined. Al: Heck. Maddox: You're on thin ****ing ice. Maddox: Oh no-
Harley: May luck (and this picture of Al eating shredded cheese at 3 in the morning) be with you.
Harley: I can’t believe all these people are wearing black. black is supposed to be my thing, they’re all just posers. Maddox: Harley, for the last time, we’re at a funeral.
Harley: We got a free day now. What do you wanna do? Eat? Sleep? Nap? Snack?
Maddox: Just be careful, Harley! Harley: *heading out the door* I'm always careful, Maddox! Harley: It's everything around me that's careless.
Harley: If I may interject... Al: Oh, awesome, Harley was eavesdropping.
Al, about Harley: He's covered in blood again. Why is it he's always covered in blood? Maddox: Well, it looks like it's his own blood this time.
Lilah: If I die, you can have what little I own. Al: Wait. What do you mean "if" you die? Lilah: My unending existence is fueled by pure spite, that of which the painful experiences of life have rendered me full. Al: Al: *Sighs* Let me call your therapist again.
Maddox: I printed up a bunch of fake safety inspection certificates. Go slap one on anything that looks like a lawsuit. Al: Maddox, is that legal? Maddox: When the cops aren’t around, anything’s legal!
Lilah: I have a problem. Harley: Kill it. Lilah: Can you chill for like, two seconds?
Harley: My only talent is being stress. Maddox: Don't you mean stressed? Harley: No.
Maddox: Where are your parents? Lilah: What are parents? Maddox: That’s just about the saddest thing I've ever heard.
Al: Just think about this! I’m your hottest friend. Al: No, that’s Harley… I’m your nicest friend. Al: No, Lilah... I’m your friend!
*Watching someone try to flirt with Lilah* Harley: Can I kill them? Maddox: No. Harley: Maddox: Harley: What about now? Maddox, reluctantly: No.
Harley, planning a group disguise: You cannot be Blake Bortles. Lilah: Fine! Then I’ll be Jake- Maddox, under his breath: Don’t say Jortles. Lilah: Jortles! And I work at the Molotov cocktail department.
Al: I feel like Harley is looking down on me. Maddox: That’s because he's on the counter and you’re short.
Cris and Lys Lys: The first time Cris opened a box of Cheerios and looked inside he yelled, "OH WOW! DONUT SEEDS!"
Lys: I personally don't think it's possible to come up with a crazier plan. Cris: We could attack them with hummus. Lys: I stand corrected. Cris: Just keeping things in perspective.
Lys: When I said bring me something back from the beach I meant like a conch shell! Cris: *Struggling to hold a seagull* ****ing say that next time!
Cris: Are you busy? Lys: Yes. Cris: Cool, listen to this.
Cris: I like to play this game called nap roulette. I take a nap and don’t set an alarm. Will it be 20 min or 4 hours? Nobody knows. It’s risky and I like it.
Cris: This is horrible! This is the most humiliating thing to ever happen to me! Lys: Oh-? Even more humiliating than- Cris: We are not doing this!
Cris: Uptown Funk would've made it into the Shrek Soundtrack. Lys: That's the truest statement I've ever heard.
Lys: Do you take constructive criticism? Cris: Not without crying
Cris: I tried to write ‘I'm a functional adult’ but my phone changed it to ‘fictional adult’ and i feel like that’s more accurate.
Lys: Cris is not a morning person. Or a night person. There’s really only about seven minutes a day you are fun to be around. Cris: The best part is you never know when they’re coming.
Lys: Isn’t a bit dangerous? Cris: Lys, please. We've been in a lot of unexpected predicaments before and we always escape unhurt. Lys: ... Cris: Okay, we sometimes escape unhurt. Lys: ... Cris: Alright, we escaped unhurt once... Then we hurt ourselves on the way home.
Gabriel and AzarAzar: Please! Pretend I'm useful!
Gabriel: Are you this rude to everyone?! Azar: Yup. Azar: Don't think you're special.
Azar: I just found out that humans are capable of fitting a light bulb into their mouth with ease but can’t take it out without shattering it, and now I have to physically restrain myself from putting a light bulb in my mouth
Azar: Prepare to feel really bad about yourself. Gabriel: I’ve been prepared for that my entire life. Azar: Gabriel: Or something mean about you.
Azar, texting Gabriel: *sends a voice message* Gabriel, texting back: I’m a little busy, is it urgent? Azar: No, don’t worry, just listen later. *later* Gabriel: *presses play* Azar's voice message: THERE’S A FIRE-
Gabriel: Ew. What kind of tea is this? Azar: I boiled Gatorade.
Gabriel You’re drunk. Azar: Correction: drinking. Present tense. Grammar, Gabriel.
Azar: Gabriel likes to say ‘you can be part of the problem or part of the solution,’ but I happen to believe you can be both.
Gabriel: When I was your age- Azar, mocking Gabriel: When I was your height. Gabriel: Gabriel: Listen here you little ****-
Gabriel: I think this might be a bad idea... Azar: Don't start thinking on me now!
Azar: Oh and for your information, I don't have an ego. Azar: My Facebook photo is a landscape.
Gabriel: What's gone wrong, Azar? Azar: Hey! That’s one hell of a thing to say to a person. Just because I’m calling doesn’t mean there’s a crisis. Gabriel: That’s technically true, I suppose. Why are you calling? Azar: Well... There’s a crisis.
Azar: Here you go, Gabriel, a nice hot cup of coffee! Gabriel: It's cold. Azar: A nice cup of coffee. Gabriel: It's horrible! Azar: Cup of coffee. Gabriel: I'm not sure if this even IS coffee. Azar: C U P.
Azar: Ow! Gabriel: What’s wrong? Azar: I have this weird pain right above my eyebrow. Gabriel: It’s called a stress headache. I got my first one when I was four.
Azar: I would be That Person who throws a rock into the deep, dark, spooky water with bad vibes that everyone says not to disturb, and yeah obviously I'd die for it but at least I'd die doing what I loved: throwing rocks and causing problems on purpose.
Azar: I think it's time to start ****ing some **** up. Gabriel: Oh no. Azar: More like "oh yes!"
Azar: I'm naturally funny because my life is a joke.
Azar: I've connected the two dots. Gabriel: You didn't connect s***. Azar: I've connected them.
Gabriel: Azar is not allowed to violate the dress code, even on 'casual' Fridays. Gabriel: No matter how many times you say please, Azar. We won't put any of the hats you've been asking about into the dress code.
Azar: No, this is not a mess. You know what I consider a mess? Gabriel: Your life? Azar: I- well yes, but-
Azar: Shouldn't get stressed out, it's not good for the baby. Gabriel: What baby? Azar, crying a bit: Me.

(Yeah of course. You've (well everyone has) been understanding/patient with me, and you deserve the same.
Thanks! I noticed the old picture was gone suddenly, so I spent some time looking for a new one. I also messed with the coding a bit in general, which was part of the reason why the reply took a bit longer than intended because I kept getting distracted. Anyway, perhaps this is arrogant of me to say, but I, too, would love to have Avani as a friend. Also, you didn't make it diffcult for me to reply. I actually have some things I wanted to put in this reply that I couldn't fit due to the length that I might add in the next post if they fit.
I don't think you failed at trying to accommodate the ending for everyone. It also gave me a chance to explore Avani a little more on her own/with other people. Okay, like one person, but still. I find it funny that we had similar ideas. Honestly, the only thing I can picture with everyone's posts vs mine is that picture of the three dragons where two of them are looking serious and the third has a goofy expression. Avani is that third dragon.
Yes, Caspian is a wonderful character. No, I wouldn't hesitate to strangle him if I knew him. I'm very interested in seeings his Tragic BackstoryTM revealed/unlocked, though. And just like pretty much everyone else (except Avani), he needs a hug. Maybe a blanket and a nice cup of tea. Also, maybe it's because I'm getting back into the books, but he lowkey reminds me of Percy Jackson. Only I could be friends with Percy.
As for the incorrect quotes,, you have some really good ones. Also, loving the headcanons/things that will become Canon at some point.
Okay, love the idea of Lilah stealing everyone's clothes. She would be drowning in whatever she steals from Avani.
Uh my heart. Avani and Lilah making lunches for everyone? Yes please!
The inversed ones were so fun. I especially loved the Clarisse/Zane/Caspian situation. Also maybe Avani or Lilah got Clarisse her flowers.
Yeah, I also have trouble finding single person quotes for Avani. With that said, those are all accurate, and I even have a similar Aristotle/Chipotle one saved funnily enough.
The ones for Cris and Lys are also super accurate and funny. You get the dynamic. And Gabriel and Azar are always fun.
Adding this in later because I'm curious, have we decided on what year it is. On the lore page, it's been 15,000 years after the Cataclysm. I need to know for reasons.)

{ Amber No worries! Real life is hectic and obviously takes precedence over a roleplay. Besides, sometimes writing, even for fun, is just difficult.
It works really well. I actually didn't even realize you edited your coding at first, but its beautiful <3 I don't think its arrogant to say. I think I'd enjoy hanging with some of my characters, and Avani is such a sweetheart, I don't see how anyone wouldn't like her. She'd be an amazing friend. And I'm glad it wasn't too hard for you to respond. I'm always worried I'll make it difficult in posts where the characters don't do a lot of interacting.
It's always fun to see the characters just interact with the world. I love Avani and it was nice to see a lighter moment. My new headcanon is that being near Avani increases a person's luck by at least 30%. Trust me, I'm a mathematician. Okay, the thing about the dragon is also funny because I was literally just looking at those memes a bit before you posted that. Avani being the third dragon is accurate. And honestly? We love her for that.
I am physically unable to create a character without at least some tragedy in their backstory. I cannot help myself. Cas definitely needs a hug, he just doesn't realize it. Honestly, what will be more tragic is how he feels about his own tragic backstory upon confronting it. He just kind of... ignores it in the present. I think it will probably take having healthy relationships (with prophecy crew, eventually, when he gets over himself a bit) for him to realize he didn't have it before. And I can definitely see the Percy similarities (what with their powers being sea-oriented and all, among other things), even if their personalities aren't all that close.
Thanks! Some of them were repeats from yours, but at least I had some different ones as well.
Which is precisely why she will steal them (:< That reminds me, I made a height comparison chart of prophecy crew a while back and just... well, you have to see it. Prophecy crew really said 📉 (someone had to be the token short teammate after I realized everyone else was taller than average).
Avani is the only one who can actually cook well, but Lilah magics all her meals into being delicious so nobody ever knows.
Prophecy crew's love language is just alternating giving each other flowers. I can absolutely see Avani starting the trend.
Yeah, I feel like most of the quotes in those generators have a sarcastic or spiteful lilt that just doesn't fit Avani. At least the few I could find fit well though.
Honestly, it makes me super happy to hear that because I'm always worried I'll get characters wrong, but I love Cris and Lys + their dynamic. Gbariel and Azar are my comfort characters for no particular reason. It's really self-indulgent since they're both my own characters, but I don't know, I just think they're neat. I enjoy thinking about them.
Yeah, I've changed the timeline up a bit since we've started, but it's been 15,000 years precisely since the Cataclysm happened. I'm just not sure on what time of the year it is exactly. In some posts it was spring or close to that, but I think I had said it was autumn, almost winter in some of mine. I don't really care what season we decide on, just let me know what you guys think. Also, little infodump below:
I wanted to make sure it had been enough time that nobody alive could remember the Cataclysm, and the world had some time to recover from it, so it had taken on a somewhat mythical status (since a lot of the species have fairly long lifespans, with vampires being near-immortal and most Heavenly/Infernal species living a couple centuries). There's no question that it happened, but the exacts of its cause, what the Catclysm even was, etc. are sort of lost to time. I have been debating on it having been that long though, I might shorten it but idk.
I'm sure some species might have their own calendars, but the universal Veuxdelian calendar runs on that timeline. Generally, the in-universe timeline is split into three main eras: anything that happened pre-Cataclysm (the longest era, but since so little is known about it, it's just classified as one era), events immediately following the Cataclysm to when Veuxdelys was established, and then Veuxdelys' creation to the present day. Take the exact dates and events of anything that happened pre-Cataclysm with a pinch of salt though, because there aren't a lot of records for the current generation to go off of.
The curse itself generally occurs every few centuries or millennium. The nature of the curse is that it thrives on negative energy, so it inevitably occurs whenever bad things are happening. Veuxdelys has probably the largest group of survivors, so it usually seems to mirror the happenings there, but its affected by the, uh, "vibes" all around the world.
The first time around, the curse only happened 100 years after the Cataclysm initially took place, while at the time the RP starts it's been about 4,000 years give or take. We discussed at some point on the lore page that our group is the sixth prophecy crew (seventh if you count the founders; it used to be more, but that was before I realized how old the empire would be and that there would have been way too many crews). The first group was actually able to be mentored by some people in the first, the third group took out Vaknad (if you don't remember, they were an ancient king who nearly ran what little was left of the world into the ground), vampire antagonist's group was the fourth, vampire dude successfully eliminated the fifth group, and our group is the current one.
I had a lot more timeline/curse/humans/other info on the lore page earlier because of a discussion with Moss, but I deleted it after a while because everyone was busy and I'm a conflict-avoidant coward with an unhealthy fear of criticism, so waiting for a response after already having been mopped the floor with was making me anxious and I couldn't handle it. I might go back to it just to tackle some of the stuff that was brought up because I do have answers, I just haven't added it all yet. }

Starchaser mossecho Oh my goodness, I am so sorry for the wait guys! I have been so incredibly busy with all types of things this past week or so. I started a new job and it's been good, just a bit stressful. But what is new? XD My roommate is also getting married on Sunday so we had her bach party this weekend. I am exhausted. However, I wanted to post this because I love you guys and I want to keep this good thing going. Amber Yes, Clari and Cas are going to be fun. Here's my wager: Alex is the most passive so far so I think that he will outlast even Avani when it comes to just well passivity. However, I think that Avani is the most patient in general. I think that her good natured, good willed, out of the kindness of her heart patience will pass Alex in the long run. XD Also, the incorrect posts are PERFECT and the new design is beautiful. <3 Starchaser Oh yeah, 10000% agree. He would have been the kid at my highschool that the teacher put next to me on purpose because I could "handle his drama". It happened to me so many times with people like Caspian. I hated it; they always got me in trouble by just sitting there. RIP middle school Shoot. XD But that past trauma aside, Cas is awesome and I can wait to see what all this redacted stuff is about. XD)
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾The Chosen Werewolf ☾⬷ ✶
As she walked away, Clarisse's field of vision narrowed.
We are not a pack... All the better, because I don't need pack members at all.
Her hand flexed on reflex as fingernails turned to claws. The werewolf breathed through the anger bubbling within her and turned her claws onto her own skin to stabilize herself. The pain - acute and splitting - mixed with the feeling of her life blood welling up dispelled the hazy fog clouding her sight.
She said nothing in retort. After all, there was nothing to say to something so idiotic. Didn't need a pack? Clarisse huffed aggressively.
Everyone needed a pack. Only a blind fool thought himself better off alone.
And Clarisse, though flawed and wild, was no fool.
She withdrew her nails from her skin, barely caring that the blood dipped onto the ground as they moved forward. The ground, saturated in blood, greeted it like ungrateful lover. Clarisse rubbed at her hands as the small, but deep wounds healed. It was slower than usual, yet after such an aggressive fight, she didn't think anything of it.
She looked down at her bare feet as she walked. They were covered in grime and soot and blood and who knows what else. She was thankful to be rid of the pinching heels she had been made to wear at the party, but as the walk wore on and there was no sign of the missing member, her toes began to throb.
The pulsing, faint yet so recognizable, replaced her receding anger with a wave of anxiety. She bit down hard on her lip. Clarisse looked over her shoulder just once to see if anyone had caught onto the way her smell changed, but it seemed no one was paying attention to the way the pulsing was spreading up her legs. Her fingers began to whine.
Arfen's rutting - She swore violently under her breath. How could she have been so careless? It had been so long since she had experience Belua burnout that she had almost forgotten the way every nerve started to pound. Had it been the fight? No, she had been in harder fought battles over longer periods of time. She hadn't entered or exited Rafe's embrace carelessly; she had allowed herself to linger during the in-between.
She turned a corner with the group and tried to control her breathing. The Burnout, though spreading, wasn't intense enough to require attention. She could control it if she just didn't use her powers within the next few hours.
But how? Clarisse thought in confusion. I've lived at Rafe's side for weeks before. I know my limit and I didn't reach it today. It's as if -
She gasped, "The woman..."
Gooseflesh covered her arms like a blanket. Remembering the way her Belua had leeched out of her with a touch, Clari grimaced. Suddenly, the squabble with the elemental was cast far from her brain. Lost in thought, Clarisse reached up to her chest and gripped at her shirt.
Those monsters are more dangerous than I thought. What if they had been stealing my Belua with every touch? Is that why I'm so exhausted?
The rustle of wings made her blink away the thoughts. She ruffled at her hair to drive the worry and anxiety away. The burnout was manageable; the burnout was not going to kill her. You have a team mate to find, Clarisse. Suck it up and take it like a wolf.
When she turned back to Avani, she wore a slight smile to temper herself, "We'll find her. She's around here somewhere."
Her voice was mercifully stable.
They searched for a time after Avani rejoined them. With every step, Clarisse choose to put the increasing pulsing and the shortness of breath out of her mind and focus on finding Lilah.
With a flash of light, Lilah emerged from the rubble, looking every bit as battered as Clarisse felt. The werewolf narrowed her eyes on the raised weapon, but ignored that too.
Clarisse tilted her head with a small, forced smirk, "We all got scattered immediately. None of us were expecting such a large scale attack. Besides, there was a monsoon." She shrugged, suddenly not able to resist another jab at the elemental. Perhaps she was beating a dead horse, but now that her brain was regaining focus, she had to scratch the itch.
Especially when the man was intent upon asserting himself in every possible moment. Clarisse rolled her eyes even though she didn't disagree with his comments on a plan. They were reasonable even if a bit distasteful at the end.
"I tend to agree," she echoed, voice neutral for the first time she met him. "We need food and water and shelter. We look like beyond beasts chewed us up and spat us out."
"Oh wait," the werewolf added dryly, rubbing at her hand as the pulsing intensified into something akin to bone pain and frostbite. It shot up her arm and down towards her heart. She sucked in a sharp breath at the sensation, but cleared her throat.
"I haven't slept in over a day which I'm sure is true for most of you. The sun will be coming up in a few hours. Sleep is the number one priority right now with water next. There are woods up ahead, but we could always head back into town. I'm sure there is an inn in the neighboring areas that would allow us to stay. We don't have any money though... or at least I don't. We might be able to work something out with the innkeeper."
She looked around, "Woods or inn?"
It hardly mattered to her, but she knew that the magic burnout would only intensify unless she embraced blissful sleep. Sleep wasn't a cure all, but it helped. Forced her body to power down and restore her natural Belua wells. Besides, she was crabby. Crabby enough to bristle at the slightest challenge or wrong look. She needed sleep and she needed it fast.
