(I have been summond from the dead...again. Life was hectic because of classes and work because of the freeze. I got super stuck on a reply and lost motivation to continue with it and then completely forgot about it. Anyway, I'm sorry about abandoning and ignoring this for literal months. It was really fun, but it was like one thing happened after another and I kinda just stopped paying attention. So, sorry about that. If you guys are okay with me continuing I would definitely like to.)

{ Welcome back, Amber! Don't worry about it, totally understand life being stressful and chaotic. Just glad to have you back, the gang's all here now <3
Oh, it's okay! I just don't want it take too long, but I'm just gonna slap-dash something together and try not to throw in a bunch of unnecessary details like I always do. I think something short and sweet would best best to get everyone back in the swing of things. }

{ Amber mossecho @shootforthestars okay here we go everyone. this is very bad and a lot happens cause i'm all over the place, but hopefully the battle will provide a good starting point for everyone to jump back in (: let me know if i moved too fast though, i didn't really give anyone else a chance to have an active role since i was trying to push us along (alex gets to drive tho, because it's a fancy car so he gotta (and i think it's funny if he never has before yet ends up being their getaway driver), don't ask me how that works we are handwaving it), but feel free to have your guys do more stuff in your posts. this was about as hectic and nonsensical as my mindset is right now, but i hope you all can do something with it. sorry guys. caspian starter is also due soon, i know i've been lacking
rereading this i understand that it is literally the worst but i am neglecting to do anything about it
shoot, i should have taken you up on your offer and i am now expecting you to salvage this mess. i am actually hoping the lack of coherence and detail in this will allow you all to fill things in with something more interesting, and frankly i am just unable to be as embarrassed as i should be about this mess right now because my mind said no to functioning properly. feel free to go ham on the monsters, i only wanted to barely start us off, but i'm very excited to have a high stakes and epic battle with super deadly scary monsters and baddies. i swear i'll do better next post but this is what y'all get for now. }

Starchaser mossecho Amber Not a problem at all! It was a good starter to get us back into the swing of things. I left the scene with a mild battle into so we can keep on trucking along. Feel free to do whatever you guys want with it from there. I'll hop back in when everyone has a chance to respond! Yay, Caspian starter! Excited for that. Is he gonna come with most ridiculously ostentatious starter ever? Because I just wont except anything else. It really wasn't that bad at all! A little choppy, but like you said, made it easier for Clarisse to be all carsick. I have this total head cannon for my baby that she since she has never been in a car before she's gonna have to work past carsickness. XD eventually, she'll be down for a car ride, but like a dog, most of them get sick at first. Anyways, a stupid little head cannon, but I quite enjoyed it. Oh my gosh, I love that vine. XD It's one of my favorites!)
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾The Chosen Werewolf ☾⬷ ✶
"Time to leave!"
Clarisse tucked the necklace into the swooping neckline of her dress and made sure it was secure before she turned to her new companions. On a normal day, she supposed that the utter chaos and theft of a valuable, priceless family heirloom would have been exciting, but Clari was dying to flee.
She barely flinched however when the mage dampened the lights, her eyes adjusting quickly with the adrenaline in her veins. Her golden eyes honed in on the mages in the dark. She was grabbing for the others before the words even finished leaving her mouth, "Whatever you need to do, just do it quickly for Arfen's sake!"
But then they were being jostled around by some random person in the crowd. If her ears had been present, she knew they would have been flat against her head. The heady scent of Anima sparked in the air and Clarisse had half a mind to ask what was about to happen before they were hurling.
Hurling through time and space and oh man, did it mess with her stomach. As her feet touched down on the concrete of what Clarisse assumed to be a garage, the werewolf pressed a hand to her mouth to keep from puking up large amounts of champagne and finger foods. Stomach clenching, she looked around the area with a pained, yet curious expression.
"Excuse me, miss, could you not touch my car? I just had it detailed."
The nausea rolled on and before she knew it the poor demon was stripped of his newly detailed - whatever the Arfen that meant - car. Clarisse paled as everyone piled in.
"Wait, Lilah, I don't think -" She yelped as she got yanked in, the leather interior overwhelming her nostrils. Claws shot out to grip the seats as Alex was instructed on how to drive. "Guys, I never been in one of these thinnnggs!"
The car squealed out of the garage at lightning fast speed and Clarisse pressed herself back with a screech. Sinking into the smallest spot and closing her eyes to fight back the earlier nausea from the spell, she said nothing as they raced away from the party. It hadn't gone exactly as planned, but the necklace sat heavy against her sternum. If she wasn't currently in an enclosed space, speeding away in the car, she might have yipped with joy.
But alas, even Clarisse Alinsky wasn't perfectly fearless.
She cried out when they turned into the screeching halt, body hitting the back of Lilah's seat. Cursing, she fumbled for the handle and basically crawled out of the car. Her chest heaved into the vomiting, Anima lingering in the back of her throat like bad mead. She had no time to be embarrassed by the sickness, however, when a dark shadow darted past her.
She cursed and on shaking feet.
To say that the scene was a nightmare was an understatement. Such a massive understatement that Clarisse had no way else to classify it other than hell. Shocked silence hit the group as they stared at the beasts that cut down their friends, their families. Clarisse's lips pulled back in a snarl as the scent of blood assaulted her.
"Rafe help us..."
A crack to the left alerted her. A shiver went down her spine and she turned to see a beast looming over the mage and it was going to - Her body reacted first, flinging itself at the mage and knocking her back. Then it was her voice, panicked with warning, "Watch out!"
The beast swung at the both. Clarisse dived away, shedding her skin with no thought and snapping at the tendrils of inky blackness.

As for Caspian, it had better be. Though I actually can’t find what I had written so far so oop-
Also, good headcanon, though I haven’t actually read the response yet because it’s going to be my treat for finishing my school work }

[[ Amber Starchaser @shootforthestars : well, here is Alex. please forgive me for, well, everything, but whatever. my brain is still recovering from finals so it's not fully operational, but oh well. you guys know me, I'll find every excuse for the poor quality of my posts 😅
also not only does Alex have no experience driving, but I don't either (save that one time my grandpa just said "drive, kid" and I had to drive from shotgun for two blocks, but that was a. a disaster and b. another story for another time), so... prepare for bad driving descriptions ]]
Alexander Rojas Lopez “Some people live more in twenty years than others do in eighty. It's not time that matters, it's the person.” - The Doctor (written by Mark Gatiss)
✩ ⤛ ☽ The Chosen Vampire ☾ ⤜ ✩ It really was not Alex's fault. He did not know what a car was, much less which seat the driver sat in. So can anyone blame him for his disastrous driving?
(Yes.)
(Alex was doing a great job blaming himself already.)
It was a series of trial and error, really. Turn the wheel left, car goes left. Seems intuitive enough. Press on one thing down by his feet (a "pedal?"), the car goes faster. Press on another, it slows down (unless you stomp on it, then it comes to an abrupt halt). Alex did not dare try the third pedal.
Still, he managed not to kill anyone. Could that be considered some measure of success? Definitely not. You have been in this city for, what, a day? And you have already managed to nearly kill three pedestrians. Well, that number was probably a bit higher in reality, but Alex could hardly be blamed for underestimating other species' slowness. You do not know the slightest thing about them, Alex, of course you should be smart enough to think you know how fast their reaction time is.
Lesson learned: mages do not quickly get out of the way of ninety-mile-per-hour cars. Got it.
Alex would have loved to actually enjoy driving (it was bizarrely fun), but he could not get past the stench of blood reeking from the city center.
It reeked. Blood was not supposed to smell like that, like something tainted and dark and... gruesome. Alex knew what blood smelled like when it went bad, like emptiness. It was supposed to smell like life, bright and enticing. Even if it was too old to drink, even if it smelled empty, one could sense the absence of life. This was something entirely different.
Alex had never been one for eloquence. Such a disappointment. Wordsmithing was a great skill back home, but unfortunately he had never been able to pick it up. Had he been better, perhaps he could have found the right words for what he smelled coming from the city center. Unfortunately, all Alex could say was that it was wrong. So, so fundamentally wrong.
So like the idiot he was, Alex drove towards it.
Then he slammed on the brakes.
The momentum pushed Alex forward, but he kept his eyes focused on the... thing in front of the car. It was black, twisted, unshaped. The only feature Alex could make out were blowing eyes, bright and piercing and empty. It had vaguely arm-like appendages (emphasis on "vaguely"), decorated with that oh-so-wrong blood. Alex bit his bottom lip, trying to restrain himself from reacting in any particularly obvious way. Not that he had not already admitted obvious alarm by breaking the car so suddenly, but... yeah, Alex had really messed up there.
Alex stood, unmoving, not actually processing his surroundings. He was too engrossed by the monster, and then everything else hit him. The sirens hurt his ears, the wrong blood-scent flooded his nose, a flurry of indistinguishable voices drowned out the world, and his eyes stung from residual smoke. Smoke. Move!
Any vampire knew that feeling immediately. Very few had actually ever been close to a fire, but it was an instinct to run when they detected it. Alex was out of the car in an instant, sniffing the air to try and figure out where it was coming from. (Somewhere north? Far away, thank goodness. For now.) Yet as precious fractions of seconds past, the smoke stench got thicker. At the very edges of his hearing, Alex could hear the fire's thundering crackles. The vampire stood still, stuck in his fear.
The crunch of shifting bones snapped him out of it.
Alex, ever the slow sludge he was, did not notice the werewolf's movement until the beast was snapping at the black mass. It took another second for Alex to collect himself enough to actually analyze the situation. Lilah had been shoved away from the beast, the werewolf was busy attacking it, and the angel was... Alex did not know. They can fly, right? So she will be able to get away?
A suspicious emptiness filled Alex's nose. It stank of nothing. The vampire glanced down to the car, checking its reflection and confirming what he already knew to be true: another beast was behind him. Alex stared at the reflection of glowing things he assumed to be eyes. The vampire blinked, his own eyes still stinging from the growing smoke.
All he could smell was reeking dead blood and disturbing emptiness. Corrupted blood coated the beast's tendrils, tufts of werewolf fur caught in the stickiness. Alex turned around and stared at the beast properly. The blood and fur was noticeable, but everything else (save the glowing eyes) seemed like... nothing. Not blackness, just pure emptiness.
It seemed like forever, but surely no less than half a second passed. Alex placed his hand on the car, seeking some sort of anchor. He did not know if he should move, if he should wait for the beast, if he should look back to the others (it sounded like they were all breathing, at least), if he should run, if he should go home and never come back. The sirens, the blood, all that death... the city center reeked of it.
Alex fell too far into his thoughts, and the beast surged forward.
A tendril swiped out at Alex, knocking him against the car.
The metal folded in underneath Alex, leaving a rather substantial, vampire-sized dent in the car's formerly flawless shape. Silver streaks emerged along the new creases, signs of a now-ruined paint job.
Alex hissed. Weak, weak, weak. Never show shock, never show weakness. He held his arms out against the now-folded metal, trying to process what just happened. Logically speaking, he understood just fine, but everything was so... everything. Too much smoke, too much sound, way too much blood. Get ahold of yourself!
Alex did not.
The monster surged towards Alex, who was too overwhelmed to notice.
[[ aaaagh no, that was awful. it's just been such a long while, I feel like I've lost Alex's voice. eh, I'll find it. at some point
also I wasn't quite sure how these monsters kill (squeezing? some sort of claws or teeth or barbs? idk), so I tried to keep it as vague as possible ]]

The fun thing about me is that even if I have experience with something, I still can't write it well, so I wouldn't worry too much.
As for the monsters, I left it vague on purpose too. Just go absolutely crazy with them, have fun. They're supposed to be all different anyways, so you can have them fight however you please.
Also, I will put up Caspian starter and Lilah reply when everyone gets a response in. }

(Sorry, this took much longer than I had originally planned. I work most days of the week and then Saturday, I got my first car and felt like this the entire time: So yeah. Anyway, I'm glad I got this up now and I thank you all for your patience.)
Avani Roshan "Someome has to care. Too few people care these days."- Lift The Chosen Angel
It didn't take much for the fights to break out or for people to panic as the party was thrown into chaos. Avani wasn't entierly sure what Clarisse had done or what caused the current situation. Whatever happened, the angel knew it was best to stay close to the newfound group. The werewolf appeared behind a woman in a red dress who was ushered away by an infernal. They were headed to the patio, where a pair of heavenlys were taking flight. The angel smiled lightly as Clarisse joined them. She had the necklace with its unusual orange gem gleaming aganist the silver chain. "You got it!" Avani exclaimed excitedly, not meeting the werewolf's eyes. Before Clarisse had a chance to say anything, Lilah plunged the room into darkness. The angel heard the guttural growls of a shifter and the hissing of water on a hot surface coming from the somewhere in the main room. People were somehow still fighting.
Avani barely noticed Lilah casting another spell, distracted by the other noises and silhouettes in the crowded room. The angel managed to remain still as the mage did...something. One moment they were standing in the darkness created by Lilah, the next moment brought them outside. Though her stomach lurched, Avani's nausea quickly went away. The angel was used to intense flights at high altitude, which made teleporting relatively easy for her. Clarisse, at least, didn't seem so lucky. The werewolf was clearly queasy, while both Lilah and Alex seemed relatively okay. Avani reached a comforting hand out to the shifter's back in an attempt to sooth her.
A wary demon eyed the group as he spoke with Lilah. Though, perhaps speaking was putting it lightly. The mage fished something from her pocket and stuffed it in the infernal's hand. Avani didn't have much time to react as people started piling into what she assumed was his car. Though, it was more Lilah guiding Clarisse inside while Alex took the wheel. Avani looked at it curiously. There weren't many cars or similar modes of transportation in the Heavenly Empire, and Avani and her family never found a use for them. In the precious few seconds they had, the angel decided it would be a tight fit if she decided to cram herself with the group.
"I can't fit in ze car, but I can follow from above." She didn't wait for a reply before going airborne, but they didn't hesitate either. The red car screeched out of the mansion driveway, heading towards the city. Avani looked back, noticing the man they stole from try--and fail--to chase down the car. Guilt nipped at the angel's chest, but there was little time to think about it now. She could work that out later.
Despite Alex's irratic speeding, Avani managed to keep up with the vehicle fairly easily. She kept watch from above, noticing something...off about Sanctum. Though it had been day when she arrived, the angel assumed the city would still be a bustling of activity and celebration. That was her limited experience with citylife, at least. Instead, she was met with fleeing people. They seemed panicked. Frightened, even, from her vantage. As she studied the city below, the car came to a screeching halt. Avani could see a formless mass of pure blackness in front of the vehicle, still in front of it. The headlights illuminated some of it, but the light seemed to almost absorb into its skin, or whatever the substance should be called. Hovering above, Avani watched as Clarisse pulled herself out of the car, seeming to be sicker than before. The mage, Lilah--Avani had caught her name in passing--also got out from the car. She was about to follow her, when her attention was drawn back to the red car. There was someone missing.
Alex--she was fairly sure that was the vampire's name--finally exited the vehicle. Though the angel couldn't tell much from above, he seemed to be in a daze, but overall okay. Her attention was drawn elsewhere again, this time to Clarisse and Lilah. The former had transformed into a wolf, defending the mage from one of the odd creatures. Still hovering in place, Avani watched the seven unfold. What were those things? Sirens blared through the city and the angel though she saw a faint, orange glow in the distance.
The sound of crushing metal drew the angel's attention back to the fight below. Alex was thrown aganist the side of the red car by tendrils of darkness coming from one of the beasts. The vampire remained frozen aganist the car, not moving as the creature advanced. Eyes growing hard, the angel swooped down with her wings pressed close to her body, summoning her spear in an extended hand. It glowed a faint gold and was made of solid light. It would be enough to fight back the monsters.
Avani took the spear shaft in her other hand and thrust it forward as she approched the ground. It struck the creature, its skin reflecting a rainbow shimmer in the light, much like oil on water. Avani flared her gray wings and began to fly back upward. The weapon resisted being pulled free, as though the creature was made of tar. The angel was stronger, however, and retreated into the air with the spear. Avani didn't remain above for long, repeating the attack again and distracting it from Alex.

Lucrecia Zembrowska "I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams." - The Doctor (written by Matthew Graham)
✧ ↝ ○ Shifter, Eurasian Wren ○ ↜ ✧
Thank the Old and New Gods, Lucrecia had run out of milk.
Ordinarily, that would be an annoyance, but this time it was a literal lifesaver. Lu had no idea what had happened since she had to abandon Avani to getamore milk, but clearly it was... not good. Very, very not good. Supremely not good.
While she was walking through the hallways leading from the kitchens to the party area (whoever designed the servants' corridors should be fired immediately; no one could ever hope to navigate these things quickly), shouts began to echo throughout the corridors. The hallways were full of rushing staff members, from janitors to waiters to the one-legged tea maker. For a while, the shouts did not provoke any alarm. Lu didn't like them, sure, but they were not too surprising. She'd been to enough parties with enough people to see and hear her fair share of fist fights. Shouting was not a big deal.
But screams were.
As the shouts morphed into screams, Lucrecia became more and more agitated. The actual volume did not change, but it all seemed to ring louder and louder in her ears. Lucrecia had never had a great sense of hearing (birds never did), so she supposed the sound was even louder for everyone else.
The shifter rushed her way to the kitchens, knowing they would be safe. Well, hoping. Lu had no idea, really.
She opened one of the fridges, grabbing two cartons of milk (whole and almond) (Lucrecia never understood the appeal of drinking cow's milk, but she supposed that was a Shifter thing). She close the door slowly, trying not to let it slam itself shut. Everything was so loud already, screams echoing from the distant party area.
Still, she had to stay normal, act normal. Everything was fine.
The staff must always be composed, remain composed, remain composed... that was a stupid rule.
Lucrecia paused, leaning her head against the fridge. She could check it out, or run back to the tea shop, or stay down here (It had to be safer here, right? If anything, she could just hide in the maze. Lu might never make it out, but at least no one—or nothing—would find her). The Shifter closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and hugged the milk cartons close to her chest.
"You need to keep moving. They'll fire you if they find you not working."
Lucrecia tilted her head to her left, keeping her forehead planted against the fridge's cold metal door. The speaker, another white-clad server, was rummaging through another fridge. Lu could not tell what he was looking for, but that did not seem to matter much. After all, there were the screams. How could anything else matter?
"Do you know what the screams are?" Lu asked, disregarding the person's unprompted advice.
There was a brief, awkward pause as the other server pulled out a jug of beer (since when does beer come in jugs?). It wasn't like Lu's response had not been awkward, it had, but as far as she was concerned, her slightly awkward response was perfectly okay. There was screaming, for Gods' sake. She had plenty of reason to take a breather and ask for information.
Finally, the other server looked up at Lu. He nodded.
"They say, well, I saw... sorry, I don't... God, I don't know. They're coming from the main square. Some sort of... things. Creatures. Like Kh'chyornaya, but without reason. They just... I don't know," the server trailed off and buried his head back in the fridge. "They closed the front doors, all the doors, really. The building's on lockdown, but you can still hear the screaming from outside. Plenty are screaming inside too. We're supposed to keep working though, keep everything normal."
"When did this happen?"
"I don't know. The past five minutes, maybe? It all happened so fast."
"Oh. I just came down here in the past five. Nearly got lost, about six forks in the road ago."
"I thought all the staff had to memorize the layout?"
"I'm an outside vendor."
"Explains the work ethic," the other server said deadpan, taking out one more jug (again, beer jugs?) and closing the door.
Lucrecia laughed. It was easy, like breathing. Like letting out a breath she did not know she had been holding, or some other cliche like that. Still, the other server's tone had not matched hers. Lu frowned, wondering if she had misread the situation.
When he got up and looked at her properly, his expression confirmed her guess. Yeah, completely misread his comment. No one that looks that... frazzled could ever joke. Not enthusiastically, at least. The server was around Lu's age, but he looked like he had seen something. Been scared by something.
"Are the doors holding?"
"They did. I don't know if they will for long."
Not good. Very, very not good.
Lucrecia bowed her head, quickly tapping her right shoulder and then her left with a flat palm. May the Gods, Old and New, have mercy. Lucrecia shivered as she heard more screams. How could there be more? Had they not already maxed themselves out?
"May the Gods save us," Lu whispered, looking back up at the server. Her intonation creeped upwards at the end, as if unsure if the server would understand. Well, no, not "as if." Entirely as if. She recognized the name Kh'chornaya, but she did not know which version of the religion he practiced. To Lu, Kh'chornaya was from the Old Gods, but he sounded too monotheistic to recognize the New ones.
The server placed the beer jugs on the floor, copied the motion, and then immediately picked them up again.
"Look, they're not stopping, the screams, I mean. We need to get out of here, we–"
"You're right," the server interrupted Lu. He shoved the beer jugs back into the fridge, and grabbed Lu's hand. He tugged on it, causing Lu to stumble forward. She dropped the milk cartons, suddenly finding herself running, hand-in-hand with the stranger. When she looked behind them, all she saw was the milk poured all onto the floor. And all she heard was screaming.
They ran and they ran and they were just stuck in the maze.
Lu hated to admit it, but she was hardly a great runner. It was not the lack of two matching legs (she could never afford a perfect prosthesis, hardly her fault). Really, Lu was just not built for, well, running. Or speed in general. Wrens were delicate birds, not some sort of speedsters.
And yet they kept running.
And yet the screams kept ringing.
Eventually, growls appeared too. Snarls, screams, crunches.
Lu made the mistake of looking behind her. They were running down a long corridor, and Lu had not heard anything behind them. So she spared one glance, just one, over her shoulder. She slowed ever so slightly, and the other server squeezed her hand.
"Don't look."
Lu already had. She was terrified.
[and then more stuff happens but Moss is too lazy to write it rn and she might just delete this post and start all over]
[[ god I thought I lost Alex's voice, this Lu is so OOC xD
there are a few references to Lu's religion here. since Shifters (if I remember right) can have a bunch of different religions, I'm basing Lu's on a somewhat polytheistic one (hence the Old and New Gods). the movement Lu does is based on the sign of the cross movement from Christianity, just since Lu's culture is based off of the Spanish and Polish. the other server is another Shifter, as I referenced, but his belief system is more like Christianity (i.e. it has God and then a devil-like figure, Kh'cyornaya, as he referenced). So while Lu and the server practice different religions, they (the religions) share a lot in common since they come from the same general area. Hence the recognized and repeated prayers.
arg I hate this post so much, like the characterization sucks and the server's opinion change is so rushed and eeeek why...
also I am considering killing off Lucrecia here to, you know, Phil Coulson her, but also I kinda want to let her live out a good life in her uncle's tea shop... I have no idea what is going to happen w her. idk, idk ]]

And potentially some others, despite them not really impacting the plot, I'll have my character angst and hurt thank you very much. Honestly, feel free to continue the fight if I'm taking too long ever, since the group's together nobody is really having to rely solely on my replies, I can always jump back into things later.
edit: dsjfhasjkdL I hate Caspian's starter post, i just cannot come up with something i like but i've also put so much work into this current rendition that i'm too lazy to restart but also to finish }

I might try to get a reply up tomorrow, but I can't promise anything. It's been pretty interesting around here with my sister coming into town. XD But I'll definitely try to get another post up! Starchaser I mean if you can't figure it out then don't push yourself! Do what you feel like is best for the post. Also, no rush on it you know?)

Starchaser mossecho Amber Ok, putting this out there to maybe help the juices flow. It never fails to get me going if there is someone to save. XD I know it's not long, but I think it is enough to help anyone out who needs it. )
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾The Chosen Werewolf ☾⬷ ✶
Perhaps it was providence that the light of the full moon shone upon them. Clarisse surely wasn't complaining. Not when Rafe's full power coursed through her veins, making her swifter, stronger.
She broke from the group quickly after she deemed Lilah safe. The nightmares were quick and she briefly wondered if they were even tangible. Her eyes bounced from beast to beast in an attempt to find weak points, but they were like nothing she had ever seen before. If they had been an animal or another shifter or maybe even a mage or something, her confidence would have held. Yet, even if the light of the moon, she started to breathe heavy at the way they moved. When they rushed her and the others, Clarisse had a very chilling thought.
We're going to die.
She moved quickly when the fear set in. Weaving between the beasts was no easy task, but she spun on them when they lashed out with an ungodly shriek. Ears pined, Clarisse lunged forward with snapping jaws. Somehow she connected with the blackness and clamped.
Clarisse wanted to spit it out immediately for it tasted of death and decay and disorder. Her mouth chilled around the barely corporal form and she swore that something slimy and vile wiggled -
The beast shrieked and thrashed against her when she panicked and ripped. Picking her up, it flung her up and away. Clarisse yelped when she hit the ground with a thud. One of the beasts was on her before she had a chance to get up.
That odd, disgusting chill hit her in full force, messing with her senses and blinding her with its darkness. She reached out in her panic to get the thing off her, but they only tangled further and further until she was immobilized.
It was instinct to stiffen and submit. She hated herself for it. Despised the fact that her lupine instincts activated in an attempt to save her life. But when a hiss sounded in her ears, her lips peeled back in desperation and shrieked, "Help!"

{ Amber mossecho @shootforthestars Okay. I am just ugh. I had this whole huge behemoth written out a few nights ago and then I didn't save it. So this is very not good. It's partially things that I salvaged, but mostly just a vague reconstruction. I just. I am not trying anymore with this one.
But anyways. Pardon my lack of understanding about anything to do with national security and the military. I haven't quite got the ranks of the Elemental military branches worked out yet either (I really like Commodore, but it's always high-ranking wherever it's used akjbdash and Caspian is a baby so he just wouldn't have the seniority but i might have to do something somehow to get my way).
Just in case anyone's wondering, Caspian was working on the border guard (paramilitary groups who guard the magical barrier, watching for breaches and making sure nothing gets through, etc.). He was in the Elemental nation's version of the navy before that, but that's a long story that will come up later. I wanted to establish some things up front though, but hopefully it won't be too boring.
Also, I'm still working out how to get Caspian's voice down, so pardon if he's inconsistent for a while. I'm just not really in the headspace for him right now. Honestly, he is easier for me to write from the other character's perspectives, which I'm sure you will see in Lilah's post. And sorry this is so long. Like always. In case you're wondering why it's so choppy and nonsensical and just like the way it is then i have nothing to say except that i'm tired and wanted to be done with it and kind of just threw all my vague ideas of how i might could introduce him into a horrible trash heap. essentially, the way i write posts is i just slap the few sensible lines i can come up with down and then try to connect them all and it goes about as well as one would think, but i ended up cutting a lot of the original content, so there are some pretty awkward places
Also also, I had really high hopes for this, but I lost the original I had and I was tired of re-writing this, so it ended up not very good and also rushed, but whatever (it's not as ostentatious as we hoped just really long). Considering that I got bored writing it, I don't expect anyone else to enjoy it, but honestly, I just wanna get into a fight. Believe it or not, the original was much longer. Because it was two separate posts, but that would require too much effort. Only the very last section is even important, so i would say just read that, i'm only keeping the rest for context and relationship establishment }

{ Amber mossecho @shootforthestars edit: you know what, i feel like i took over that scene way too much so i'm thinking i'll just rewrite this, idk what everyone else was planning so far though and i don't want to ruin anything, but i also don't want to exclude the other characters. i wasn't sure what was going to happen with alex and avani yet, so i can edit this if anyone needs it
Now Lilah. Also disappointing because I have exhausted every ounce of motivation on Caspian post, but at least this isn't too well not super super long. I swore to myself I would keep my posts shorter, (caspian's starter doesn't count, okay (which this is honestly kind of part of)?) especially during fight scenes for the sake of pacing. If this seems kind of choppy that's because it originally had way more stuff that i cut because i realized caspian is going to be a regular character now and I needed all that content for his reply instead. It should go without saying that this didn't turn out the way I wanted and I hate it with my entire being.
I totally look like this right now:
also also, i love that everyone immediately decided the monsters have tentacles lol (but we aren't using that word)
also also also one day lialh's spells will have actual words (and i'll figure out how to write magic attacks), but i haven't got the language for that worked up yet and it's meant to be untranslatable to other languages
also x4 i realized i cut like an entire paragraph out of this that i actually needed by accident, so i will get back to you on that. it is not the original paragraph but i don't have time for that,, }

First off, I wanted to say that Caspian's first post just makes me happy for some reason. I know you are mad at it, but I sure as heck am not. XD I just love the way that you world-build in your posts. Everything just feels... right. Even when you say everything feels wrong, it never fails to me good tbh. XD As always, I love him and I would hurt anyone that messed with him.... which will lowkey be Clari but you didn't hear that from me.
Second, you definitely DO NOT need to rewrite the post from my prospective. I don't know about anyone else but I didn't think you domineered it too much at all. All of our character's have been kind of doing their own fighting. However, if Moss or Amber feel differently then I won't oppose it at all. However, I think I might try to reply again if that is ok with everyone? I'm so bored and really wanting to write tbh. )

(I second Caspian's post being good. In fact, I had a lot of fun reading it. He seems like a very fun character so far and I'm excited to see how he'll interact with everyone.
Also, I have a reply mostly written, but I wanted to wait for Moss before I posted it. If Moss is fine with it, I can post tomorrow. With that said, if you want to post Shoot, then I'm definitely fine with it. As you said, everyone's kinda sorta doing their own thing right now.)

{ @shootforthestars Amber so i have been full-on sobbing for like an hour because life stuff and then i got on here to see your replies and now i'm crying even harder (but um in like a good way now). so, yeah, i needed something like that, thanks you guys are too nice <3
anyways, i'm totally fine if you post again, shoot. and i'm so pleased you like caspian, he really is just babey deep down.
also, i'm glad the post wasn't too domineering to anyone. i still have a bad habit of writing too much because writer brain says "we don't stop until we finish the scene" bu that's no how rp works so }

Starchaser mossecho Amber Oppsies, forgot the opening comment. Here I go to fix that so no one is freaked out. Don't have much to say here tbh (might edit later), but yes. The monster's have tentacles and weird powers that make Clarisse's life a living hell. XD Anyways, enjoy. I go to bed now. )
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾The Chosen Werewolf ☾⬷ ✶
She was dying.
It was a different sensation from silver tipped arrows. Those stung on impact and leeched the magic from you in rapid, painful gulps. It spread like a plague, preying on her very being and stripping her of Rafe's embrace. She had only died that way in her dreams.
But this was slow and numbing and this was real life. The chill of the beast crept down into her bones until Clarisse couldn't think. Her limbs loosened, her head rolled back with a groan. She was loosing track of time in the inky blackness. How long had it been since she was warm?
And for that matter, where was she? She had to make the ferry to Sanctum or else she would miss -
Clarisse blinked when the air wouldn't enter her lungs.
There it was: that distinct slip of life she knew from her dreams. For some reason, she wasn't upset when she closed her eyes, just tired as if she had been running running running -
A flash of light and a loud shriek startled her onto her feet. However, she immediately dropped again, muzzle spread wide in hacking coughs. Her ears flopped as she shook her head to get her bearings. Clarisse shook as the slime on every part of her body turned to dust and more rained down around her.
She finally gazed towards the fighting, realizing that her body still felt strong and able. She blinked into understanding. Was that... all in head? She swallowed, took a breath. All clear. Nothing wrong... The werewolf got to her feet. Limps fine too. What the Arfen...
So when Clarisse was asked if she was ok by her savior, she didn't know what to say. She had been dying. Limps slackened, blood chilled, and airway crushed type of dying. Yet, here she was... not a scratch beneath the soot and dirt.
"Yeah, I - I think so -" Clarisse said before witnessing the abduction of the mage. She snarled in frustration, "Arfen's left horn! Stop, picking us up you overgrown sack of snot! Get down here and fight me like a rutting man!"
She jumped in an effort to snag the mage, but it was in vain. Besides, as her teeth came dangerously close to that thing, her ears snapped back in latent fear. She landed and began to circle underneath, a low whine on her breath.
The last time she has rushed had not ended well. You need a plan, Clarisse. Obviously, teeth and claws aren't well suited to these guys so think. AH Rafe! I need some divine inspiration here!
And what happened next must have been due to the fact that Rafe himself had his third eye wide open to her.
"Out of the way!" Clarisse stayed well out of the newcomer's way, eyes only slightly amused at the stunning entrance. She glanced up at the moon and sent a silent thank you. She was there to nudge Lilah up after she fell, one eye on the newcomer. The werewolf opened her mouth before realizing that they couldn't understand her anyway... Note to self: Forge Belua bond with the team.
"Don't worry, I'm here to save the world."
Despite the hell raging around them, Clarisse's eyes flickered with humor and she tilted her head as she approached him with two sweeping strides. In a classic display of curious dominance, her massive head tucked in towards her chest and her tailed raised slightly as she breathed him in deeply.
Fish and brine hung tightly to his skin even though there were stronger scents, fresher ones. The most prominent was the confidence like stink on a stunk. Instinctively her lips pulled back when she met his eyes. A concoction of blue's and green's, Clarisse might have called them beautiful if she could talk to him. Or if there wasn't screaming demons running around. The rest could wait for she knew by the yank that he belonged to the propehcy. Anything that belonged to the prophecy, belonged to them. Anything that belonged to them, was hers.
So she turned her back on him with a huff of trust and rejoined the fight.
