( Starchaser, Hope you're doing better tonight. Caspian's post definitely wasn't domineering, especially because it was nice to see his character a little before jumping straight into the Sanctum stuff. @shootforthestars, Why must you torture poor Clarisse? Is it for the ~drama~? mossecho, I have no idea what you want/planned to do with Alex, so if you want me to change anything, I'd be more than happy to. I think my reply is a little clunky, especially in the beginning, but I had a lot of fun writing it and I hope you guys enjoy it.)
Avani Roshan "Someome has to care. Too few people care these days."- Lift The Chosen Angel
The inky, misshapen mass of the creature finally had enough of the angel's aerial attacks and lethargically slinked away. It left a glimmering trail of oil-like blood--or what she assumed to be blood--behind it. Avani was tempted to follow it, but turned to check on the others instead. Alex was still leaning aganist the car, seemingly still in a daze. At least he appeared unharmed. It took some time to search out Clarisse and Lilah. They had escaped the red vehicle first and had gone down a side street. She wasn't sure how far they strayed from the car, but surely it wasn't too far.
Avani searched from above, a red light catching her attention. She focused on the area, watching the scene for a moment. Lilah--who had changed clothing--was hanging in the air by her ankle, a similar creature to the one Avani fought holding her there. She could barely make out Clarisse below. Something was off about the werewolf, but the angel couldn't be sure what it was without getting closer. Before Avani could make any move to rescue her friends, ice and fire consumed the beast. A new figure appeared, the clear cause of the elemental powers. She couldn't make out much about them in the darkness, but was relieved the two relieved more help. The angel nearly dashed her way, but hesitated. There were still other monsters that needed to be taken care of. They could handle the creatures for now, right? Before Avani had time to deliberate, she glanced back at where she left Alex. More monsters were closing in on the car and the vampire. There was around seven, some taking the more familar appearence of a wolf-like creature.
Eyes wide, the angel made a mad flight to the monsters and car. Avani landed between the vampire and the strange creatures with a soid thud on the roadway, kicking up light debris and dust around her feet. She expanded her wings to the sides, trying to obscure the view of the downed vampire from the sight of the monsters. The angel managed to block out most of the chaos around--something she could only manage on occasion--and focused on the monsters ahead of her. They let out unnatural guttural snarls and high-pitched whines. While most only seemed to have only the impression of eyes, Avani could feel their harsh gazes sizing her up. Unlike the thing that she fought earlier, these creatures seemed to have a more solid form. There was a weight to their steps that the angel didn't notice the other having.
The air stilled between Avani and the beasts of ink, tar, and oil. The angel gripped her spear tightly in both hands, sending a silent prayer to Yarah. May the Goddess care for Alex, Clarisse, Lilah, and the elemental. And may she give Avani the strength to protect the four of them.
The beasts moved.
The angel drew in a deep breath, steadying herself. A creature pounced, aiming to kill.
Avani ducked low despite her size, slamming the end of the spear against the creature's leg and knocking it to the ground. In the same motion, she came up to block snapping jaws, catching razor-like teeth with the shaft of her spear. She yanked it back with one hand, swinging the tip of the spear under the leg of the monster and ramming it into its gut. As the beast fell, Avani pulled her spear free and slammed the end into another creature's head that had gotten too close. She heard what she believed was a skull cracking beneath the blow. She turned her attention back to the first creature, plunging the spear into its chest.
The three fell quickly with the garbled noises of death. Avani's momentum urged her to continue moving. There were still four creatures to deal with, all attacking at once. The angel was a flurry of strikes. Each thrust of the spear hit a neck, side, or other fleshy part of the strange creatures.
The end of the spear cracked against another beast's head, knocking it to the ground. In the same motion, Avani twisted to the side and stabbed another strange beast in the neck. She jerked the spear free and swept out with the weapon one-handed, throwing two more off balance. She shouldered into one, causing it to fall while swinging the spear back into both hands and striking the other one. She caught it in the stomach, the beast screeching in pain. Avani quickly stabbed the third beast through the neck before it had a chance to get up and attack again.
Breathing heavily, Avani dismissed her spear into a shimmering mist. Brushing a hand through her hair, she noticed a black ichor had sprayed across her clothing. Though it didn't have a strong scent, it was foul smelling and made Avani wrinkle her nose in disgust. The angel hadn't escaped the fight completely unscathed. A few of the unnatural creatures had managed to bite or scratch her. The wounds weren't deep, though they did sting. Avani would hold off healing until she could check on the others. The angel turned her attention back to the car. Hopefully the other three were doing okay.

{ @shootforthestars Oh girl, I cry like 30 times a day for no reason (I will say I had reason to yesterday though), so it's fine. I really like that idea for the monsters and it totally matches up with the eldritch abomination vibe I wanted them to have. I also had an idea that the group could encounter some monster or whatever that traps them in their worst nightmare at some point, but there will be plenty of time for that angst later.
Amber I do not, but thank you very much <3
Anyways, love both your replies! I have had quite the day because I'm a procrastinator, and I probs failed my test, but ya know. I want to try to get some replies up tonight, but no promises. I'm thinking after a few replies, I'll maybe bring in the cult guys too, but we could have them not turn up until later. }

{ Dumb question that really isn't that important, but I also need to know: does Avani have the necklace now, or does Clari still have it somehow? I don't think she ever passed it off to Avani, but I can't see how she could have kept it when she transformed. Did everyone maybe just forget about it? That could be interesting, if it was just lying on the street somewhere. }

(I'm fairly sure Clarisse still has it. If I'm remembering correctly, she put it on, stuffed it under her dress, and didn't have a chance to give it to Avani because she didn't get in the car with the others and was distracted protecting Alex. With all that said, it would be interesting to have it flying off Clari after she shifted.)

Not a dumb question: I actually thought about this in my last post. I was thinking that, with the amulet being magic and all, that it transformed with her. If it did, Clarisse would probably keep her clothes and realize this with a ‘Wah??? Much spooky.’ Then maybe she could have Lilah make her a similar enchanted something so she’s not running around naked all the time. XD I was gonna roll that into one of my posts later because I totally forgot about it even existing for a hot second. But that was just what my brain envisioned. We could totally have it just laying in the street. At the time, Clarisse probably wasn’t thinking about it. XD)

{ Both good possibilities. I hadn't considered that it might transform with her, although that could be really neat. Or maybe if only her stone did? Maybe they're tied to the magic type of their chosen one's Family? I was just wondering for Lilah's post anyways cause I was considering it might be interesting if one of the monsters tried to take it (being as they're controlled by the Big Evil in this instance), but idk.
Also, I'm so sorry it's been taking forever, this week has had me super busy with midterms and all. I'm thinking I'm just going to just wrap up my posts and let them be terrible.}

Yeah the monster taking it could be fun! Now I’m just imagining all the Chosen passing the amulet around like it’s the fairy godmother’s wand in Shrek 2. XD I’m down for that! It would be interesting if Clari’s amulet transformed with her though. I’ll keep that in mind. Don’t worry about it! Hope midterms went/are going well! )

{ Oh, I have not seen that movie in so long, but that would be very entertaining in this situation xD Then maybe I can have them run into the cult eventually that way. How long are we thinking we want the battle to last? I know it just started, but I just want to know for pacing purposes.
I sort of like the idea of the stones being personable and connected to their user. I had thought about Lilah being able to use hers as a wand core. Not sure about every else other than what I already mentioned for Clari though.
I have really been missing the RP though. I'm still waiting to hear about one, but I'm not looking forward to it. At least there's still half the term to go though. }

That is the best Shrek movie by far! The music just hits differently. XD Anyways, I personally would be ok for the fight to end relatively soon. I would like the keep the pacing quick so we can get to the next stone fairly fast. That’s just me though. I definitely don’t want to leave anyone out. No I think that would be pretty cool! I’m almost glad I mentioned that because I want Avani’s stone to be personal too. Maybe the hot potato session can end with it in Avani’s hands and something crazy happens to end the battle. Me too! This RP brings me so much fun. You’ll do fine!)

{ I'm fine with the battle being quick. It was always planned as a short, but relatively difficult one, but I didn't have an exact post count or whatever in mind.
Maybe Avani's stone could have some kind of healing or protection aspect to it? I'll let Amber decide that though. Spoilers, but one way I was debating on using to end the battle was there being a giant monster, and it getting defeated is what sends the other ones away. I had a similar idea for a later battle though so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We could just have the monsters eventually retreating after enough people start fighting back.
Shame I have such a hard time writing for it, but it's worth it. And here's to hoping. }

(I also like the idea of passing the amulet between the Chosen. Seems like a fun idea. I also like that each stone is tied to the Chosen's family. It makes sense and could produce some fun things. Maybe it could be a weapon/weapons, perhaps armor, or even other powers/a power up of sorts. Or maybe, as we've previously discussed, maybe as they manage to unlock the full potential of the amulets by going through tests of sorts, they gain new "features" sotospeak. That last part is totally super inspired by one of my favorite book series I'm rereading for the fourth time, no I won't be taking criticism for forcing my favorite things into this RP on occasion.
As for how long the fight should be, probably not too long. Firstly, there's only so many ways to describe shapeless, dark creatures. Secondly, you(Star) and Moss have mentioned that fight scenes are diffcult for you to write and I don't think it's entierly fair to spend too much time on something that's diffcult for half of us to write. With all that said, a giant, final boss sort of monster is a good idea.)

{ Yeah, I just really wanted them to have an actual role in the plot beyond sending our characters on quests. Fun as that is. Weapons and/or armor could be really cool, and I did still imagine they would "unlock" new abilities in the characters. Whatever you guys want that to be for your character is completely up to you. (Also I would never ask that of you xD This RP is so full of self-indulgences for me)
Well, tbh, I just wanted to keep it vague at first. Since they're eldritch abominations, I figure they could have many different ways of looking, we all just sort of ran with it. I've got a few different ideas for my next post though. Which I insist on finishing tonight. They wont be good though.
The main reason fights are difficult for me I think is that I tend towards more detail and like flowery writing. Not that you could necessarily tell since mine tends to be bland, but I try to tone it back for RP posts. Furthering the scene each post is important with RPs and so I find that too much detail really puts the interactions at a disadvantage and makes things seem stale. This is especially the case with fights, but I get way too caught up in trying to figure out how to properly convey what I'm imagining that I think it really lags, so the hard part for me is finding the balance between detail and pacing. That said, don't let me ruin your fun. I love reading fights and I can deal as long as people can bear my posts. Caspian is especially difficult in fights right now, simply because I haven't tallied up all the different powers and thought as much on how his magic works/fighting style. }
{ Amber mossecho @shootforthestars Sorry this took so long! This is very poorly written and uninspired and choppy, but I'm tired and I just want it done because my brain has checked out for this week. It's, um... something? It exists now. You guys deserve better, but Star can't do it. Lilah will be later today after my half of my last brain cell reactivates. I already have most of it written and it will be the one that actually moves the plot on since I got all these other ideas of how to do that after I'd already written most of this. If someone else ends up posting before then, please feel free to do whatever you like with the scene, don't let me limit you (:
I have a very clear idea of exactly what happens in my mind, but I don't think I have the technical know-how to explain it well and it would be tedious to do so for a battle anyways. Honestly, this doesn't add much to the mix, but maybe it will help with some other posts. I had more planned, but goshdarnit I wanna get something up and move on, so I actually took stuff out (hence the terrible, truly awful flow). I just wanted Caspian to do cool stuff, so if you could imagine that happening instead, that would be very kind.
It's times like these when I realize just how little I've thought out on the Elementals' magic. I didn't realize this system of magic was so universally hated either, but anyways. There is a method to my madness though.
Caspian isn't going to run into any trouble during this battle because to further his belief that he cannot be beaten, then in the future when he gets in over his head it will hurt that much more. You know how it is, got to build them up before tearing them down (: The rest of my characters on the other hand... *thanos voice* I'm sorry, little one.
And I want to go ahead and explain this one thing: Caspian's post probably won't directly mention him having difficulty with anything, at least not for a while, mostly just cause I don't think it matches with his tone well. It will definitely be more of a "show, don't tell thing," which is how writing is supposed to work anyways, allegedly, but I haven't got time to deeply evaluate all my RP posts because I just wanna have fun. But I don't want anyone to think he doesn't have any flaws or weaknesses, it's just that he doesn't want to acknowledge them outright, so from his perspective, it will read like he doesn't.
Also, this absolutely is accompanied by Mr. Blue Sky. Every single one of Caspian's fight scenes happens with upbeat music and uses way too much slow motion. Sorry, I don't make the rules, it's Caspian's world and I'm just channeling it. I also watched way too many fight scenes to have not improved my writing of these scenes at all but that's show biz for you.
Also again, I like to think that there are weapons made by Elementals that they can use specifically alongside their powers, but I need to work on their stuff a lot. I'm not sure how well weapons made from ice would work, but consider this: it's cool (ha, I'm so punny) and I like it (and it's magically-enhanced so) Imagine having an ice sickle. An ice sickle! }

Starchaser Here y'all go! I tried to speed the game of hot potato along with this post. Basically, trying to get the amulet to Avani and she can have her moment. In the interest of time and the fact that I have to be up early tomorrow, I'm going to end this here and edit my responce to have my general thoughts tomorrow when I get off work!! mossecho Not a problem, Moss! I'm glad that you are feeling better. It sucks to hear that it has been hard, but I'm glad that you prioritized your health. Can't wait to hear from you again! EDIT: Well, I know I said I would put my thoughts in a few days ago, but here it is now. XD I'm working on Vet School applications and it has taken up a majority of my time lately. Starchaser part 2! Ugg, I'm already loving the new dynamic that Caspian brings to the group. Every group needs the endlessly charismatic fellow to spice things up. Personally, I like the idea that Cas won't struggle as much because that really highlights when he will. I know Clari has been given a bit of a shock with these beasts so there has to be someone that is confident and collected. I get the "show, don't tell thing" with RP. Sometimes I read back my reply and realize that I have have been doing is telling, but somehow it worked well with the scene? I think it kind of depends on the character and how they interact with the scene in that moment. Dude, Mr. Blue Sky is my jam. There was a period of time freshman year of college that I only listened to Mr. Blue Sky. My past roommate was telling me that it almost drove her insane and that she can't listen to that song anymore because I ruined it for her. *o* So, I feel a bit bad about that, but what can you do?? And I have just got to say that the Irene meme literally took me out when I read it. XD Something about it is just so accurate. I could actually see Irene making that face exactly as she looks down from Shifter heaven. XD )
Clarisse Alinsky “The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.” - J M Wonderland
✶ ⤐ ☾The Chosen Werewolf ☾⬷ ✶
In the grand scheme of things, Clarisse realized that her talents and abilities were not what was needed at the moment. Her lips pulled back in avid frustration when the shadowy, slimy, nasty monster yanked back from her paws for what seemed like the thousandth time.
As if they were playing with her, they were always there within reach, but the moment teeth or claws connected, the chilled tentacles of the beasts slipped from her grasped. Eyes narrowed and throat parched for the taste of blood, she followed them relentlessly. They drove her deeper into town, hissing at the snapping at their backs.
The town had quickly became a wasteland of carcasses. She paid the dead no mind as she leapt over their bodies in pursuit of her prey. Stretching, she nipped at the "heels" of one of them. It screeched and turned in anger. Rearing up with a hiss it struck out at her, but this time Clarisse was ready.
Black ink scored her side as she gripped the lashing tentacle with her teeth and yanked into a twist. The beast, much like her just prior, screamed as it sailed over her back and crashed down.
"Rutting finally! Go to Arfen!" She howled when she released it just long enough to channel her Belua down from her core into her paws.
Clarisse pounced. It let out a wail when it exploded into little bits of goo as her Belua coursed through it. She stepped back from the crater in city street with a satisfied huff.
She whirled to see the others, ears pinned and tail up, "Who's next?!"
They seemed to hesitate just as the sky started to cloud over. Her ears swiveled at the crack of premature lightning. All of them looked towards the square; Clarisse groaned when they streamed past her without so much a care for her presence.
She yipped when electricity lit up the downtown area, directly where all her new pack mates were fighting. Why do I think I know who is behind this one? But when the rain - no, this was more like the storms they got at the start of summer. The kind that came down so hard that it made it hard to see and hard to smell. The cobblestone roads slipped up with blood and gore and goo from the monsters.
Clarisse groaned when she turned the corner. The monster's were dissolving with the rain that much she could tell. But it took an extra dose of Belua to her eyes and nose to understand what was transpiring. She spotted the elemental in the crowd and moving as fast as she could without falling in the murk, she came up on him.
"Could you turn it off!? I can't see or smell a rutting thing out here!"
Then she remembered that he couldn't understand her and wondered by she had even wasted her time in coming over -
Sharp and clear, even in the pouring rain, she wouldn't be able to miss the smell of sparkling Anima. Clarisse was on the move towards Lilah before she thought about why and she was glad for it. When the binding snapped free and Lilah crashed to the ground from the force, Clarisse picked up speed and jumped.
She clamped down of the flying beasts leg. It screeched in pain as her weight dragged it down out of the sky. They hit the wet ground with a thud, rolling in the mud and blood until Clarisse had pinned it. Perhaps it was the fact that she had only killed one of the beasts and that stung her pride, but she wasted no time in gripping the thing's head and ripping, repulsive as it was.
It took more force to sever it than she had anticipated, but when it popped clean and stopped moving, Clarisse released it and stepped back.
Her back paw hit something metallic. She turned to see the amulet from before sitting in the mud and more monsters coming to claim it. Clarisse scooped it up into her mouth and ran like hell into she saw a familiar winged figure.
"Avani!"

{ Amber Not so great in one of my classes unfortunately, but I'm just glad it's over. And, well, at least it's the only class I've ever done poorly in.
Anyways, no, I don't believe we had anything solid. We could say that maybe the stones don't do anything until they're "activated" in the trials we talked about, or maybe they just give a general power boost like you were talking about. I was thinking maybe it would allow them to unlock some kind of almost-unheard-of ability within their species and maybe give them insight into their ancestors' memories so they could learn from their mistakes. Something like that, I'm not sure, we never really decided on anything particular. I can't seem to find this conversation anywhere, but I know there was also something about the stones being more aligned to the user's magic. Like Clari's stone being able to shift with her (so she wouldn't lose it in wolf form) and Lilah's being used as a wand core.
mossecho Sorry that happened, Moss! Hopefully the other one will come easily to you, I know it's a pain to rewrite. }

[[ Amber Starchaser @shootforthestars : welcome back to the newest installment of Why Moss Should Not Start Writing After Midnight. feast your eyes on this monstrous beauty <3
I'm pulling out my glasses to write this, maybe they'll help ]]
Alexander Rojas Lopez “Some people live more in twenty years than others do in eighty. It's not time that matters, it's the person.” - The Doctor (written by Mark Gatiss)
✩ ⤛ ☽ The Chosen Vampire ☾ ⤜ ✩ I cannot... I–I–I cannot, can't, can't...
Please, please, I can't!
Alex pressed himself into the car's crumpled side. The monster (beast? Creature? Abomination?) had thrown him so violently into the car, its once-smooth side had crumpled into the velvet seats. The metal, misshapen and crumped, groaned. Alex pressed himself more forcefully into it as his feet scrambled. The rest of him did not move.
He pressed against the ground and slumped back against the car. The metal protested again. It caved against Alex's pressure. The vampire fell back and rested in the newly-made metal seat. Its shape was unnatural, bumpy and sharp at the same time, and Alex did not notice. He could not. Alex's weight settled into the ruined metal lump, and the vampire did not even register the shift.
Instead, he remained simultaneously overwhelmed and disconnected. Smells overwhelmed him, as the reeking stench of death mixed with delicious blood and horrified sweat. His ears rang, full of screams and battlecries and the awful crunch of breaking bone. Yet Alex's mind was drowning, words swallowed by an ocean of panic and sense ripped away by a riptide of terror.
I can't.
Uncertainty. A vicious bastard, truly. It was a constant companion for Alex, yes, but it was only mildly malevolent for the most part. It hurt, sure, but it was a dull pain. A headache, perhaps. (Well, Alex is not sure if it is quite headache-like, seeing as how he as never had one, but the description seems similar.) Yet sometimes it swallowed the boy whole.
Little boy. A child. Of all the descendants, you are the chosen one. Ha.
Alex closed his eyes and stopped breathing.
Somewhere, in his mind's turbulent hurricane, he remembered to tune it out. Leave everything. Run, run, run coward.
He could not stop hearing, he could not stop feeling. But he could close his eyes, look away. He could hold his breath, reduce the smells. The stench. All of the death, the blood. So, so much wasted blood. The smells lingered, yes, but less was better than more.
The chorus grew ever louder.
I can't, little boy, I can't, child, I can't, I can't, please, let me go, foolish child, pathetic child, coward, cowardly infant, fledgling, pathetic. I can't, I can't. Let me go.
The screaming continued. Thick death danced in the air. Some nearby artery flew open, blood splattering across the car. Splattering across Alex. An elemental, judging by the earthy undertones.
While Alex could not see, he felt every drop. Red splattered across his shirt, his arms, his neck. Bright, life-losing red. So stark, so light, against dark skin and black marks. So small, yet so prominent and heavy.
That blood snapped him back into the world. It cut his tether. Alex kept his eyes closed, but he inhaled reflexively.
His lungs filled with muddled air. Blood, death, fear, exhaustion, nothingness, life, fire, adrenaline.
Fire!
Crackling flame filled Alex's ears, and the vampire moved. In the blink of a human eye, he jolted from the car to the far side of the street. The vampire pasted himself against a wall. His eyes locked on a stranger, a fire-slinging elemental (as if everyone was not a stranger). Alex pressed himself against the wooden wall. Vaguely, he registered its gentle creaks.
So, apparently, did one of the beasts.
The black mass lurched forward, slow but accelerating. Alex, so captivated (terrified) by the fire, did not notice. The dark aggregation slumped against the wall a good few feet away. It turned and faced Alex. Lumpy arms reached forward, the beast leaned forward, and then it fell forward.
Alex smelled an intensifying stench of nothing. He jolted away. His steps were more like an instinctual flight than a purposeful dodge. Consequently, the uncertain vampire stumbled to his feet, like a toddler learning to walk. As Alex regained his balance (infant), the beast lurched forward, faster this time. It swiped at Alex, and he ran underneath the massive arm, plowing into the wall.
Headfirst and full-speed-ahead was never a good way to run into anything.
Alex found himself in a grocery store. The aisles were still pristine lines, but that was just about the only organized part of the store. The baskets at the front were strewn all over the floor. Apples rolled over the ground, grains fell out of pierced sacks, and a million other foods (many of which Alex could not recognize, much less name) were, well, everywhere. And then there were the bodies.
All, all the bodies.
Someone lay over a cash register. Someone else was smashed into the shelves. Someone else was scattered in pieces by the door.
Everything was dead, save for Alex and the monster.
The beast launched itself into the Alex-sized hole in the wall. Alex turned around, backing up slowly. Aside from the beast's own stench, he could not smell that revolting combination of nothingness and death anywhere else in the store. There were no other monsters. Yet he could also not hear any breathing. There were no survivors.
The beast, too big for the hole, smashed itself against the wall. It threatened to give way, but by some miracle, the thing held strong. Alex clenched his jaw, and the beast rolled its lumpy head.
It lurched once more, this time to its left. Alex stepped back again, eyes now locked on the door.
Expectedly, the beast heaved its way through the large doorway.
Alex took another step back, and his foot hit something. He looked back to see what it was, and then he regretted it.
He had never been this close to a human corpse before. Animals, yes, but never a human. There was something different about seeing something that looked so much like you. Different height, weight, coloration, build (Alex did not have wings), but it —she—was so familiar. Like meeting someone who you could swear you had met before, like seeing a relative's smile on a stranger's face, like hearing a friend's laughter in a foreign crowd. Alex stared. He knew death. He had killed before. Yet he had never seen death so familiar, so close.
The beast launched itself forward once more.
Alex fell backwards, tripping over the familiar stranger. He rolled to the side and out of the way of the beast.
From there, it became a strange dance. The beast would swipe an arm, kick out a leg, and Alex would run away. He leaped to the side, rolled on the ground, ran to the right, the left. The beast always followed, becoming faster and faster.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, Alex knew there had to be an end. He could not be stuck in this death-filled store forever. There were humans outside. There were more beasts outside. He could not dance forever.
Yet Alex could not bring himself to leave.
They danced. The beast attacked, and Alex ran. (Coward.) Alex jumped over fallen boxes, fallen bodies. He jumped over one of the aisles, crashed into the ground, and then crawled out of the beast's reach. They danced and danced, feet flying over the red-checkered floor.
Until, of course, the beast caught Alex.
A vampire should be able to evade anything, yet Alex is, well, imperfect. A child, just barely able to walk. So when the beast went right with one arm and left with a leg, Alex did not back up. He stepped left, and the leg swept him onto the ground.
This time, he did not recover fast enough, and a gargantuan arm pounded his stomach.
Alex groaned. A fist-like lump raised itself up, preparing for another punch. The vampire raised his arms out of instinct and closed his eyes in fear.
The black sludge hit his palms, and Alex held on. It was nearly gelatinous, the skin vaguely sticky and very rough. Alex squeezed and let his claws grow out, feeling them dig into the monster's hand.
The beast tried to pull back, but Alex held on. He squeezed, tighter, tighter, burying his claws into the beastly lump. The mass compacted and collapsed, not unlike the car outside.
Black liquid began to seep out of the beast's skin. Alex gagged and shoved the beast away before the revolting stuff could fall onto him. He knelt over his curled hands. His claws, short, stubby, and very sharp, were covered by the tar. His fingertips were too, but not much more than that.
The beast rolled on the ground. Its limbs wiggled, as if it was trying to move without paying attention to stability or direction or... anything, really.
Alex stood up, his mind swimming once more. In a haze, he stumbled over to the beast, still squirming on the ground. He pressed his right hand on its massive chest to keep the beast down. With his other hand, Alex rested the his clawtips on what he hypothesized was the monster's neck.
He took a breath. The beast squirmed, and Alex's mind swam. Then, moving thoughtlessly, he pressed down with hand and claw.
The beast stopped moving.
Alex stood up, tar now embracing his forearms.
He walked towards the street, dazed, stepping over shoppers' corpses. Black goo covered his arms, and blood splatter painted his neck. The vampire stopped in front of the hole in the wall. He stared absently at the wet floor, at the rainwater seeping into the dead store.
Alex stepped through the hole and into the rain. The downpour washed his arms, and the tar bled onto the cobblestone.
[[ lol, not me forgetting if alex is wearing a white shirt or if his suit is all-black, heheh, never
in all seriousness, sorry about this post has no interaction with anyone else. I wanted to, but... well, there are no good excuses. I can write an ending where Alex helps pass the amulet to Avani if anyone would like me to, or something else than involves character interaction (me thinks Alex will shrink away from Caspian, feel mixed around Lilah, appreciate that Clarisse helps Lilah but also ew werewolves but also that was really good of her, and feel really bad that Avani had to defend him and really, really grateful but also just embarrassed that he was basically sitting on a car while she was defending him because why couldn't he move dangit) but... I didn't fit any of that in. I'll get more in the next post. again tho, if anyone wants me to add more to make it an easier response, just let me know, I'll probably be better at writing later when it's not, you know, time for bed why am I such a disaster xD
love you all <3 ]]
[[ yeet yeet y'all ]] [[ I'll regret writing that ]] [[ already do, but I'm not gonna delete it ]] [[ may my embarrassment be enshrined on the internet]

{ I'll let Amber and Shoot get their responses up before I post anything, but I thought your post was great, Moss! I don't really have anything to say though because my brain will not produce the thoughts.
my only contribution for today will be this very high-quality meme sorta thing:

(Guys. Guys. It's been a week for me. Sorry to give unsolicited venting, but I was rear-ended last Friday. Myself and the other driver were both fine and both vehicles escaped with minimal damage, which was great. Then I signed up for fall classes a little over a month ago and thought everything was great, but the Chem lab I registered for was canceled Monday because not enough people signed up for it. I though everything was fine, but the new Chem lab I signed up for was also canceled as was my Chem lecture. So, for the past two days I'm been scrambling to get everything sorted out because the new semester starts Monday, the 23rd. Thankfully I just took care of all that, so chemistry isn't a worry for me any more and I'm just tired. In other news, I've been slowly working on my next reply and will hopefully have something up tonight/tomorrow. Starchaser Love that locket thing and I think we can all relate/agree with it.)

[[ Hi Amber! So sorry to hear about that, it sounds like a lot of stuff is really disrupting and complicating your life. I hope it all gets sorted out soon, but please don't feel like you need to rush to write something. Take your time, drink some tea, read a good book, do whatever you need to make you happy <3
Starchaser: I am seconding Amber's comment about the locket, I love it ]]

(Thanks mossecho. Yeah it was a lot to deal with and it was really stressing me out. And then after going through all that hassle with chemistry, I had my first lab today and discovered there was a lot more math than I initially thought. Math that I am especially not great at and coupled with my dyslexia and dysclaclia(number dyslexia) I realized I would struggle throughout the semester in Chem Lab and lecture, so I decided to drop both classes. Now, I'm taking just two classes this semester. It wasn't something I wanted to do, but, as I said, I would struggle through the semester and would likely barely pass. Not because I'm a terrible student, but I just don't have the mind for it. Anyway, sorry for the rambling, the point is I won't be as busy as I initially thought. With that in mind, I will have a reply up this week. I was going to do it yesterday, but I wanted to get a headscarf on school stuff and it's the first week back, so I may be slow.)

[[ Hi Amber! Sorry to hear how stressful things have been recently, that sounds really hard and disheartening. I hope the lower class load helps you though! It's always good to take some more time to rest and take care of your mental health, so I'm really happy that you're doing that. <3
Again, there is no need to rush a reply (believe me, we all know how bad I am at being prompt). Take the time you need to adjust to school and take care of yourself (: ]]
