rp board planning page original q thread & survey results thread If you have been following Roswell's idea of adding a specific Roleplay Board, then you've come to the right place! This planning page will be for Fan Clans, the beta version of the Original 5 at the Forest. Please read the information and if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me or any staff members involved.
Most recent update can be found on page 49. requirements I'm making this simple. We will need 5 (five) owners for each clan. There will also be at least 2 (two) role-play moderators per clan. Role-play rules will be something we can figure out as a group as I don't want to be a helicopter mom.
- Some role-play experience; such as owning a role-play or being a part of a role-play
- Relatively active to hold a high position
- Able to write in third person for role-play posts; words must be legible

If this is a forum wide thing will there be "literacy limits" like requiring 3 paragraphs or whatever? Or limits to cat creativity? Like obviously I dont think people want a flying raibowpinkpelt around but what about strange-ish eye colors or patterns that dont necessarily meet real cat genetics, and names that dont quite fit the books and lgbt cats? Will you be able to rp a at in every clan or forced to stick with one or two?

Everyone will get the opportunity to rp in as many clans as they want. LBGTQ+ is going to be accepted, no matter what— it’s pretty obvious as a site we support that. I don’t wanna be a stickler on the names and genetics either. Creative freedom is real. I also feel like we could discuss this too? I want this to be as open as possible. I want people to be able to enjoy this roleplay board idea. |

I think as long as there are not quite literally rainbow cats, then we should be good. If there is a need for realism, we can refer to the actual books, as they have a lot of genetic inaccuracies but kept some realism with preventing like a purple cat. |

Good cause i have a few cats with weirdish things. Like violet eyes or black and brown on a male cat. But something like green fur. Ehhhh no thanks. I think all colors should be sticking with the white/gray/black and cream/yellow/orange/brown spectrums even if the pattern is strange, like a star shape or having multiple colors from different "genes" that are impossible.
I think we should also maybe limit cats with powers to being prophecy-only and only after the rper has been on and active in the clan or clans for a while and it can be safely said they wont abuse it by godmod or powerplay. And if they do, their cat will be taken by someone else or retconned entirely.

In my opinion, weird pelt colors are like green, purple, and pink. I agree that sticking with the color ranges of white/grey/black and cream/yellow/orange/brown is what we should do. It’s how the books work from what I can remember and what I’ve read recently. Pattern wise, I don’t mind as long as it’s not something super out there. Genetics don’t matter to me, the fact that the books ignore them makes it pretty obvious that we shouldn’t care.
That sounds good to me! I think only allowing powers, if we’ve got some sort of prophecy or plot planned, can only take place with that. It can’t happen otherwise. Rule wise, I don’t think we should allow god-modding or power play because that’s just basics. I’m good with the fact that their character would be taken, replaced or retconned. I think we could leave that up to the circumstances on the decision of what we decide to do.

To me, Dolphinsplash is fine. Hammerclaw... meh, no— unless someone has a good enough explanation as to why they chose Hammer- for the cat’s prefix, then maybe.

What about prefix regulations? like obviously we cant have two Firehearts running around but what about a Fireheart and a Fireclaw in the same clan? Or would there only be able to be a one in one clan and the other person has to pick a variant or join one of the clans that doesnt have the prefix taken?

I want to be lenient with the name choices thing, as long as it's appropriate and makes sense. If it doesn't make sense, obviously, the person would either have to change it -- in response to the Hammerclaw thing.
Prefix regulations... I know some clans on here allow 1 use of a prefix for their clan. I think one use for one clan is good, but if someone wants to join with a Fireclaw and there's already Fireheart, they could have to pick a variant if they're very keen on joining the clan with the existing Fireheart. If they don't like that, then they have the option to join another clan-- if that makes sense?
I should probably make a thread in Public Drafts for all of this.

If we do long descriptions, we should mimic the guides. Example is in the spoiler. Watch out! Apprentices are forbidden to go near the gorge, as it's cut deep and there is a huge risk for falling. Luckily, RiverClan won't have to deal with WindClan invasions from here. The river is a great source of prey and protection for RiverClan, however it can be as dangerous as a twoleg monster. Sometimes the river is peaceful and quiet, giving life to the forest with its currents. However, sometimes it roars and crashes against the shores of RiverClan, threatening to pull anyone who dare pads near in. It had a horrible habit of flooding, creating a dire situation for the cats of RiverClan. A bridge is built over the river, near the gorge. This allows the cats of water to traverse safely to Four Trees. Across from the river lay Sunningrocks, a constant battleground between RiverClan and ThunderClan. The stones here soak up the sun, allowing for a nice place for relaxtion when it isn't drenched in warrior blood. It was once an island belonging to RiverClan, but when the currents changed, ThunderClan snatched up the rocks. The two Clans have fought over this sliver of land for generations. Facing Sunningrocks, on RiverClan's side of the river, rests the Rippling Willow. It stands strong against the rushing river. It's the closest tree to the ever-moving waters, almost as if it challenges it to wash it away. Even in floods, it stands firm. Its leaves constantly are pulled by the swirling currents, giving the tree a rippling effect. The tree is a beautiful sight at night. It isn't the only notable tree area in RiverClan. Beech Copse is a training thicket for apprentices as well as warriors. Finally, we have the camp. It's a well-drained island, circled by reeds and rustling waters. It's a better defense than thorns in their opinion, as the other Clans hate water. Their camp is well-protected and has never faced a true raid due to the waters swirling around them. |

Hey Blaze! I think mimicking the guides would be a good idea. However, I'm wondering if people have the attention span or liking for in-depth descriptions. I personally like both, but this is also an option in comparison to Rain's: Claiming the northeastern part of the territory, ShadowClan's territory consists of marshlands, damp ground, and pine trees. They are bordered by a Thunderpath and its tunnel which lead into ThunderClan and WindClan territories. Some of the well known landmarks are: - Thunderpath Tunnel, which is beneath the roaring Thunderpath that monsters travel on
- the Forest, full of pine trees and fallen pine needles
- the Carrionplace, where rats and diseases live among trash from Twolegs
- the Burnt Sycamore, an old tree that was struck by lightning and serves as a training camp for apprentices
- their camp, a dark and veiled hollow protected by sharp, prickly brambles
The camp can be entered through a small path where there is little to no grass but with a muddy, cool surface. The leader's den is beneath the roots of a tall, ancient oak tree. The warriors' den rests beneath a bramble bush which, on the inside, is lined with pine needles and moss. The apprentices' den is the same, but smaller. A smooth boulder sits at the edge of a clearing and is known as Clanrock which is where the leader makes important announcements or holds gatherings. Next to this rock is another rock that has a sheltered cave underneath and it serves as the medicine cat's den. Sick cats are usually found asleep in fern bushes that surround the large rock. As for the nursery, it is a thorn bush that is covered by a small hollow. It too is lined with pine needles and moss for protection. |

Looking at the rp boards of some of our affiliates, most do an in-depth description of the clan's territory. There's one that has them slightly shorter though.

I think if we go more in-depth it allows a better feel of the territory like Blaze mentioned and it's descriptive enough to the point where people can possibly imagine it. I don't see many rp boards with short descriptions except for two that I've gone through, but they're about 3-5 sentences.

Also!! I have some text for battle moves and herbs posted in the DarkBlood Cats reboot i attempted, I'd be happy to finish that up and make it neat so it can turn into a guide all clans may use as a quick ref.

I think prey and predators make sense for lists, but not territory. It makes it seem a lot less repetitive and adds a nicer aspect to write it out.
Are they new moves and herbs or are they the ones that were provided from Warriors? As there is a list I've made that has all the ceremonies, herbs, illnesses, and moves. |

I agree with the list for prey and predators. I think having an in-depth version of territory of the clans may work better. If necessary, we can write out the landmarks in a shorter version? I feel like we need another opinion or two.
As for the list things for herbs, battle moves, illnesses, etc. I'll look at both but Blaze mentioned in my PM we could link Rain's to the RPs.

I think the key to make the in-depth look more appealing to the eye is to break it up into "paragraphs"/segements. I know I don't like to read big blocks of text for RPs.
although if we do finalize on in-depth descriptions, does the guides cover all of the territories, or will we need to write descriptions for thunder, shadow, wind, and sky?

I think as long as we break it up correctly and it gives people's eyes a few moments to take a break, the big blocks of text won't be present.
I'll see if I can find an online copy of the books that have the descriptions-- I think one is a field guide? But there's also the wiki, though the descriptions on there are somewhat short if I remember correctly. I haven't looked at it in a long time.
