(Not too much longer to go! You'll be through with it before you know it! Lol, it's fine. I had to glance at the books to confirm those details myself, and I'm currently in a re-read of them, haha. But, yes, they're amazing, so I'm sure you'll enjoy them when you get around to reading them as well.) Danir Edlyn and his brothers // Outside of Theosari Danir watched his friend's face as she took in the sights of his city. As terrifying as their future would be in the upcoming ours, he couldn't deny the sense of excitement that came with her reaction. She had shared with him her world and culture, her life, and now he was having a chance to do the same. He wished that they had been able to do it in a more... friendly manner, but the pride in knowing she was in awe of the place still burned warmly in his chest.
"There are sentries scattered every quarter mile," he answered her questions. "At least the ones on the perimeter of the city. Inside there are more, but their positions change and are never the same. They use a series of signals with the lights to send word to each other. The patterns and colors will change depending on the message that they wish to tell, but the secret of the codes and phrases are a very closely guarded secret."
"And the longer we wait, the more suspicious they'll be," Baltore added. "The sentries knew we were going to find Danir. They'll be expecting us back, so no alarms should be raised.
"But any idiot with half a brain would be able to see we have an extra person," Helwion pointed out.
Baltore waved his hand. "If she stays near one of us, the likelihood of her being spotted right away will be slim."
Helwion snorted. "And how well do you think the Council will handle it if they learn we actively tried to sneak her in?"
"I'll deal with it," Danir said firmly. "Baltore is right. We need to go on if we're going." Then he turned to the blacksmith once more. He lifted his hands to adjust the hood and the cloak around her shoulders. There was no way they could do anything about hiding her presence. Make her appear taller, sure, but that would require help from the twins, and neither was ready to do that. So they would just have to hope for the best. "Just stick close to me," he assured with a smile. "Don't rush, don't glance around. If anyone stops us, we'll think of something. Worst comes to worst, we'll say you have amnesia and don't remember anything. Are you ready?"

(Yeah, exactly! Haha, well I'm glad I'm not alone in that regard. I'm so excited to reread them.) Edlyn With Danir and His Brothers//Outside Theosari Edlyn nodded along as Danir spoke. Sneaking around the city would be difficult, likely impossible judging by how highly organized these sentries and their system were. Before she could say anything, the brothers broke out into conversation. Baltore brought up a good point. If Danir's brothers were expected back with him at a specific time, it would be suspicious if they didn't arrive. People might still be suspicious with them returning so late. Danir having to carry her certianly slowed them, even if they managed to regain that lost time today.
Edlyn found herself agreeing with Helwion of all people. The sentries would've known three people went searching for Danir, so if five returned, they might raise alarm. She also wasn't sure how easily she could remain hidden. Perhaps if she stayed in the middle of the group, obscured because of her height, it would work. But how long would that last? If they were caught, what would happen to Danir and his brothers?
"I'll take care of it," Danir said before turning to Edlyn. The confidence and firmness of his words were reassuring.
"The system sounds impressive. And annoying. And inconvenient. It also doesn't sound like there's any way to get around it, at least not easily," she noted as Danir stepped up to her. He adjusted the cloak at her shoulders and fixed the hood in a way that allowed her to see clearly while obscuring her features. It now fit more comfortably, though she would probably still have difficulty walking in it. Edlyn met Danir's eyes as he offered her a smile. She smiled back, comforted by the gesture.
"I don't plan on leaving your side, and I'll be sure to keep calm and focused on our goal. Now, I'm not sure a memory loss excuse would work, but we'll figure out something. Of course, let's hope it doesn't come to that. Anyway, I'm as ready as I can be. Let's go." She let Danir lead the way, then trailed beside him as they made their way to the city.

(They're always great books to reread. I adore them.) Danir Edlynn and his brothers // Outside Theosari As confident as he tried to be, Danir couldn't shake the feeling that he was leading her into more trouble than she bargained for. And it was his fault because he was too stubborn to leave her behind. Her trust in him that this would work out was both an assurance to him and another twist of the knife he felt in his gut. However, now was not the time to dwell on that.
"Then lets get going," the youngest elf said. He offered his arm out to her, as means to help her keep her balance on the downward decent into the the city.
The city at night was a wonder to behold, but the dark shadows hid a lot of the wild beauty it possessed. Had then arrived before sunset, he was sure there would have been more for Edlyn to take in and behold. He wanted to show her it all, and hopefully he could if he could figure out a way to keep her safe. For as many lights that danced in the treetops, they just didn't do the town justice.
"It'll only be fifteen minutes to get to my house," he whispered, leaning his head down close to the blacksmith's ear. It was more to help keep his mind from roaming to the worst case scenarios than anything. "Just keep an even pace, like you're supposed to be here, and hopefully no one will think anything of it until we're well into the city."
For that was the task at hand: entering the city without the alarms being raised. They neared the invisible line marking the edge of the city's limits. Then passed over it. Danir held his breath for a couple of seconds as they didn't stop. But there was no warning, no changing of the lights, nothing. That didn't help calm his nerves, but at least the whole Guard wasn't going to come swarming them.

(I can agree with that. Anyway, I tried to get this up earlier, but it's finals week for me so that was difficult. Luckily I'm almost done for the semester.) Edlyn With Danir and His Brothers//Outside Theosari With a nod, Edlyn accepted Danir's arm and smiled lightly. His support was welcomed as they descended the ridge toward the city. There wasn't much she could do to keep the cloak from dragging, but at least it wasn't getting caught on every root, loose branch, or thorny bush this time. This was helped by the path to Theosari being kept farily clear of any debris or tripping hazards. Eventually, the slight slope gave way to flat land, which made walking easier. Edlyn continued to hold onto Danir's arm, anticipation growing in her chest. The prospect of seeing Theosari--even in the darkness--was both exciting and frightening. She was about to see something no Kaidian had the privilege of witnessing in hundreds of years. It was just at the risk of getting caught by the sentries that roamed the city, who in the best circumstance would take her prisoner. At least she could rely on Danir to help reduce that risk.
The closer they got to the city, the greater its presence loomed. Though Edlyn couldn't make out every detail due the darkness and her lack of nightvision, what she could see was a daunting marvel to behold. She couldn't help but stare as they approached the city. The exterior of the buildings had been made with care, and despite being closer, it was nearly impossible to tell the difference between what was natural and what was elven made. Some of the structures appeared like boulders, their rocky surfaces indistinguishable from actual stones. Small hills that populated the outskirts of the city fit perfectly with their surroundings. The only thing that made it obvious they hadn't been formed by nature was a warm glow emanating from the windows. Most impressive of all were the buildings that resembled trees. Together with some of the biggest trees Edlyn had ever seen, the elf-made branches created a makeshift canopy above the city.
"It'll only be fifteen minutes to get to my house." Danir's whisper pulled Edlyn from the mesmerizing sight. He leaned close to her ear and reiterated what she needed to do while in the city. Edlyn was briefly distracted by his closeness, though she nodded in understanding. As long as she acted normal everything would be fine.
As they crossed into the city proper, Danir tensed beside her. Edlyn glanced at him, lightly squeezing his arm in support, and absent-mindedly stroked her thumb against his arm. It was clear that despite their best attempts to prepare, neither of them were ready. If they were caught, the consequences would be dire. It was in their best interests they remained undetected. Taking in a deep breath, she continued to follow Danir's lead through the streets.
They turned a corner, and Edlyn gasped. She froze, her eyes widening as she took in the city. The buildings didn't mimic nature like they had on the outskirts, but they were still beautiful in their own right. The structures were unlike what she had seen in Kaidan or Narid with their intricate stonework and ornate embellishments. Every building was a work of art and the longer she stared at them, the more detail she could make out. "It's beautiful," she breathed. Edlyn stifled the childish urge to runoff from the group to explore the streets of Theosari. Now wasn't a time for sightseeing or admiring the view. Though she had grown distracted for a brief moment, Edlyn quickly regained focus on their current task. They couldn't afford distractions like that.
"Sorry," she whispered to Danir. "I shouldn't have gotten distracted like that. It's just all so...amazing. But, I won't let it distract me again. You don't think anyone noticed, right?" Edlyn glanced warily at the elves she saw. The city was surpringly active at night. It wasn't like the night markets she had expierenced in Narid, lively and vibrant with energy. But it also wasn't like Kaidan's capital, Senhildel--quiet and subdued, save for the taverns and special occasions. Though the activity probably worked in their favor, Edlyn couldn't help but feel like they stood out.
(Also Edlyn: Our lives probably depend upon sneaking in. Better not screw it up! Also Edlyn, not five minutes later: *Stops to stare at the city despite being warned not to do that*)

(You're good! That's always a stressful time, and I don't blame you for putting that first. I had to when I was still in school. I hope you do/did well on your finals!) Danir Edlyn and his brothers // Theosari Danir was acutely aware of every moment of distraction Edlyn had. He wanted nothing more than to join her in this amazement, to take her by and hands and show her every nook and cranny of his home. To run through the shadows, to find the tallest tree and sit with her there to gaze at both the town and the stars. He wanted to answer every question she had, to give her more answers to questions she had yet known to ask. All he wanted was to share in the wild beauty and grace of this little hidden world he thrived in. Yet he couldn't.
He didn't begrudge her from looking and getting lost in the wonder of it. He allowed her to take it in, letting her have a few seconds before urging her along. If he didn't, he knew one of the twins would do it. Knowing them, they wouldn't bother to be as discreet about it as he was. Yet each time she paused, the tension grew. It was only the feeling of her thumb brushing over his arm that kept his panic in check. This was more dangerous for Edlyn than it was for him, and yet she was trying to calm him while her own composure was near perfect. If his people couldn't see and appreciate the bravery of this woman, then they were all blind.
There were two sections to the city. In the dead center was the palace, Council Chambers, libraries, and the school. It was strictly the politic and educational sector. However, the portion of the city that encompassed in was the markets, which was where they were now. Luckily, the wouldn't have to go near the center of the city, for the guards there were everywhere. But the guards could easily be alerted by any one of the elves roaming about in the market. Elves were finicky creatures, so their behaviors varied as pebbles in a riverbed. As he scanned the crowd, he saw elves of many complexions and dress, some making it know which element of nature they worked with or worshiped. Others were more commonly dressed like he and his brothers, but all were lively.
"I don't think anyone noticed," Danir assured, turning his head towards her so she could hear, but not whispering in her ear this time. If he did, he was sure someone would pick out the movement. "We don't have to enter the marker fully. It we follow it around to the west, we'll get to my house. Keep to my left and keep your head down."
"I'll be right behind to help shield you," Baltore promised. "Most people are more concerned about their own business. If we keep out of their way, we shouldn't have any issues."
(Lol, I love it! also, do you want them to make it to his house without an issue and get a rude awakening in the morning? Or would you like them to be arrested now? Either choice is okay with me. )

(Thanks! I did well on my finals. Well, mostly well. I got a 72 on my English grammar final, but I'm dyslexic and I think some of the questions weren't good ones, so I don't count that much.) Edlyn With Danir and His Brothers//Theosari Relief washed over Edlyn as Danir reassured her. They hadn't been noticed, but she would have to avoid another lapse in judgment like that. Danir explained how they would get to his house, then helped Edlyn remain unseen. She kept her head down and discreetly moved to the left as he asked. From behind, Baltore acted as further cover, mentioning elves tended to keep to themselves. "So, as long as the other elves don't pay attention to us, we should be okay then. Thanks, Baltore. I'm glad there's someone else watching my back."
In some ways, the oldest brother reminded Edlyn of her own sister. He obviously cared deeply for his brothers, was level-headed during times of stress, and kept a close watch of his surroundings. Of course, unlike Arlana, Baltore wasn't nearly as tense as she was and didn't sport a seemingly permanent scowl. He was more similar to Corwin or Brendal with his friendliness. Edlyn sighed to herself, wondering what Arlana and Corwin were doing now. What their parents and cousins were doing. Surely they would've already gotten the news about her current situation. Half the kingdom might've known by now. Unfortunately, there was no telling how her people would react or retaliate against the elves. It was unrealistic to think nothing would come of it, that the people of Kaidan would sit by while fear of their forest-dwelling neighbors grew. She could just hope that by the time it was all done with, the people she cared about were safe.
As they made their way around the busy market, Edlyn glanced at the elves they passed. It was quickly apparent that they all shared some features: tall and long legged, angular features, and pointed ears. Most of them had long hair, though the shortest styles were still around shoulder-length. Beyond those similar features, the wide verity of hair colors, skin tones, eye colors, and even clothing set them apart from each other. Their clothing was especially interesting. Some of it appeared to match elements of the natural world, much like the buildings in Theosari. Edlyn was careful not to become distracted by the sights as she had before. It helped that Danir was nearby to keep her focus on their important task.
She allowed herself an occasional glance toward the market, curious about what the elves sold. Some of it was mundane stuff: spices, herbs, dyes, cloth, food, and weapons. Other things were rather unusual. A couple of vendors were selling colorful liquids in vials, jars, and bottles. At one of these stands, two elves were quietly bartering over a bottle of golden liquid. Edlyn noted some stalls seemingly advertising special objects, weapons, and even clothing. She couldn't read elvish, though it didn't stop her from wondering those people were selling. Perhaps they were magical. One of the last things that caught her eye was one person selling creatures from the elven side of the forest. Though none were as fearsome as the wampus or wargs, they were just as or even more unusual than the beasts.
"Do you come to the market often, Danir?" Edlyn asked as they began to head away from the market. "Seeing as you're a ranger, I would imagine you'd sell some of the things you collected during your hunts. Is it usually this busy at night? In Senhildel, the markets are always long closed by now, save for certain holidays and the taverns."
(While I think them immediately getting arrested would be funny, they need a break. And a good night's sleep. So I opt for the rude awakening in the morning.)

Hi! So sorry for the long disappearance!! Life got hectic. Yes, I am stil very much interested in continuing, and I apologize again for the long wait!!! English is a tricky subject, so 72 isn't that bad in my opinion. At least you tried your best! ^_^ Haha, yeah, that's what I was thinking too. One good night's sleep it is!) Danir Edlyn and his brothers // Theosari Even sticking to they edge of the market, the going was slow and nerve-racking. Danir might have been a social person, there were some situations where crowds were more trouble than they were worth. A party was one thing. Then everyone was all milling around and just focused on enjoying themselves. Here, however, everyone was more focused on their own tasks and needs, not really paying mind to those around them. No one was just outright rude, but with so many vendors and only a small amount of space for lines to form that left a lot of people waiting in the middle of the street, not caring that there were others trying to get around them. So the group had to do a lot of bobbing and weaving, more so than he would have liked.
He tried to keep the conversations to a minimum, but Edlyn's curiosity of all the things that were distinctively Elvish was hard to ignore. How could he bring here through the biggest hub of his culture and not explain it to her? So, in as brief a summary as he could without skipping out on too many details, the young elf did his best to name and explain some of the more exotic of the wares. From the potions to the animals (some sold for pets while others more like farm livestock), he told her all he could to both fuel and satisfy her curious nature.
"I have come to the markets many times, but I try to stay away from it at ngiht," Danir answered. "I mainly sell the pelts of the game I catch to the tanner, and the extra meat I don't need for myself will go to the butchers. And, of course, there are many things that I cannot make for myself so I have to buy from others. The market is open all hours, but most people tend to visit at night. We believe magic is stronger under the moonlight, so I guess you can consider the majority of us noctural."

(This took me way too long to get out, but behold! My reply! No worries! I hope I wasn't being obnoxious or pushy. I also hope that you're doing good despite your life being hectic. Yeah, not happy with it, but I also didn't like some of thw questions on the final, so it's okay. And good for them, they get a good night's sleep before whatever happens happens. Also, we've been at this for three years as of July 12th! It feels weird that it's been that long, but it's also really cool.) Edlyn With Danir and His Brothers//Theosari "It's amazing. It's all just so amazing," Edlyn breathed as Danir answered her questions. Though she kept her focus ahead, her eyes continued to wander, trying her best not to gwak at the unusual sights as her friend spoke. It was difficult as they weaved through the edge of the elven market. Everything was so different from Kaiden's shops, Narid's markets, and the squares of Ostril and Merlaith. It wasn't just the strange creatures, magic items, and potions either. The clothing, weapons, and even mundane objects were new and interesting.
Danir continued to speak, both satisfying and igniting Edlyn's curiosity. Why do you stay away at night? she almost asked. Edlyn held her tongue instead, already having asked enough questions for the time being. Besides, there was always time to ask later, though she itched for an answer. Was it more dangerous at night? Was it simply too busy for Danir's liking? Perhaps it wasn't interesting enough for him. Whatever the case may be, he didn't avoid the market completely. It made sense he would sell excess meat and animal pelts when needed. The local hunters of Willow Creek did the same; trading furs and meat in exchange for money or other goods.
Her interest was further fueled by his comments about the elven magic. Once more she was tempted to pry into his words. Why was elven magic more powerful under the moonlight? Did the moon's cycles effect their abilities? If they were more nocturnal, did they tend to sleep during that day? Edlyn didn't voice her thoughts, opting for a different question instead.
"How much farther until we reach your house?" Though the new sights were exciting, Edlyn was beginning to feel the day's journey catching up with her. The stiffness in her legs threatened to slow her pace and the soreness in her feet would soon bother her. It was a miracle she could still walk. Probably a miracle any of them were still walking; especially Danir. He had spent three days carrying her unconscious butt through the forest after all. On top of that, she was in need of a hot bath and a good night's sleep in order to recover. Edlyn was sure she wasn't the only one who needed such a thing, though it was difficult to tell how the others were feeling.

(After some of the times I've disappeared, I think you're allowed to take as long to reply as you'd like, lol. Again, sorry about that! Nah, you're not being pushy. I've told you to annoy me if I'm ever taking extremely too long in my replies. If anything, I'm glad you're doing it. ^^ A lot of questions on final tests never make any sense. It's like they're purposefully made unnecessarily confusing. Really?! Wow, I can't believe it's been that long already! I'm proud that we've been going on for that long. I know we haven't made much progress, but the quality of the replies and the story built. ) Danir Edlynn and his brothers // Thoesari Every unasked question seemed to radiate off the blacksmith's body in waves. Danir had to fight back the amused laughter at her attempts to keep them at bay. He wished she was able to ask all she wanted to, for he wanted nothing more than to answer every one of them. However, he had already noticed several heads turning in their direction. If they lingered any longer, then he feared they would be stopped.
"There's a fork in the road up ahead, see it?" Danir asked, leaning a little closer to Edlyn as he spoke. "Well take the one to the left. That will lead us towards the outer edges of town again. In five minutes, we'll reach my house and be in the clear." At least, he hoped he would be.
"That's where well be taking our leave," Baltore informed. "A large group entering the market might not be so strange, but I don't want to take chances drawing suspicion all the way to his house. But I will be by first thing in the morning to make sure your wound hasn't reopened."

(No, it's fine! Sometimes, life just happens and there's nothing you can do about it. That's something I tend to worry about (probably too much), but I like to check in from time to time. Anyway, glad that's still the case. Unfortunately true for a lot of finals. While I haven't come across that on every final, it still happens too much. Same here. Three years is a long time and we're making progress slowly, but surely. It's been really fun so far and I look forward to Edlyn's and Danir's adventures.) Edlyn With Danir and His Brothers//Theosari Only five minutes. Five more minutes and the two of them would be safely inside Danir's house. Edlyn smiled at the thought. No more evading the guards, no more sneaking through the city, no more walking. The two of them would get some much needed rest, and tomorrow, they could discuss their next move.
Edlyn quietly sighed at that thought. What were their plans exactly? Did any of them even have an inkling of what they should do next? Getting in and through the city was difficult enough, she could only imagine how getting out would be. Assuming she was getting out, of course. She knew Danir wouldn't keep her in Theosari against her will; however, she also knew he was going to protect her in any way he could. While they had Baltore's help, there would only be so much he could do. How long could they hide her before things escalated? Before they were caught?
Then there was her people. Were they already coming for her? What did they plan to do to get her back? Edlyn couldn't be sure, especially when considering her family. She would need to mention them eventually. Edlyn could endanger Danir, his brothers, and even his people if she wasn't transparent sooner or later. At least she could still wait, though she wasn't sure for how much longer. There were too many questions, too many concerns to consider. Baltore's words pulled Edlyn from her thoughts.
Apparently Danir had some nosy neighbors if Baltore had concerns about someone watching them. Though after being gone for a few weeks, Edlyn supposed she couldn't be too surprised. He goes missing after what was supposed to be, she assumed, an easy hunting trip only for two people to return instead of three. His brothers leave to retrieve him and are gone for almost a week, only to return without talking to anyone. It would certainly look odd from the outside.
"That makes sense. Some people may get suspicious if they see all of us going to his house and then three people leaving immediately." Edlyn lightly brushed her hand over her healing wound. She wanted to get a good look at it as soon as possible. She didn't doubt Baltore's healing abilities, but she hadn't had a chance to see the extent of the damage herself. "I doubt I'll be doing anything to reopen the wound, but I appreciate you checking on it tomorrow."
The rest of the journey was made in silence, though it didn't take them long to reach the fork in the road Danir mentioned. Edlyn remained quiet to let Danir and his brothers--mostly Baltore, Ezella and Helwion made their hatred of Edlyn and disapproval of Danir more than clear--talk. She remained quiet, keeping an eye out for other elves, ready to go when Danir was.

(I know, but I still feel bad for it. Yeah, never feel bad for it. I'm glad for them. I know I still am not the fastest to respond, but I do think of this plot and exactly what I want to include with it. So never worry about it. Yeah. Can't say I miss that about school. XD I am too! I am most excited to see how Edlyn's family is going to play a part in it all. ) Danir Edlyn and his brothers// Theosari There was hardly a plan, but no one, save for the twins, was willing to say that out loud. All of them had had time to think about it, but no one had a good answer. No matter what, they knew it was going to go poorly. It was just a matter of when and how bad. It was the storm on the horizon, so close that the smell of the chaos was in the air. But no one was ready to make the preparations for it. Not yet, at least.
"Still, I suggest a bath to help clean the area. I healed it partially and stitched was I couldn't, so it's best for you to change the bandages the wounds," Baltore said. He turned his attention to his brother. "Eat, get some rest. You've both hard a long week."
"We will, thank you," Danir said.
That was the last of the words spoken by the brothers. Baltore and Danir exchanged brotherly hug, the eldest welcoming the youngest back home and playfully threatening him to never scare them like that again. No promises were made, and a farewell was given to Edlyn as well. Then the three brothers all left, leaving just Danir and Edlyn alone in the quiet night.
Danir lingered there for a moment, taking in a deep breath of the cool air. He was home. While the weight of tomorrow still lingered over their heads, there was no denying to comfort he had wash over him. Turning his head, the elf grinned at his companion. "Come on," he said, offering out his hand. "There's a warm meal and a hot bath waiting for you."
As promised, it took mere minutes before they arrived to his house. It wasn't large, but it was one of the ones more artistically constructed. His home was one that was built within one of the trees on the edge of the town. There were normal house walls that merged and bulged with the bark of the trunk that appeared in the middle of the house. However, once opening the door, there was no sign of the trunk whatsoever. Instead, it was an open concept design, with a living room to the left and kitchen to the right. In the middle was a spiraling staircase to the second floor, and beyond that, a hallway the would lead them to the library. The interior was simple, yet reflected the natural world and the life of a hunter. It was pleasant and homey, much like how he thought the blacksmith's home had been. "Make yourself at home," he encouraged, the pleasure in his voice hard to miss.

(I get it. Even if you and the other person/people understand life happens, it's difficult not to feel bad about it. Alright, good to know. Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks about this. As I've said before, I really love the characters and I'm having a lot of fun with this. Yeah, I'm kinda excited about them because I don't think they'll make things easy. Finally, I'm at the end of my second week of a new job. It's been a bit hectic, but fun.) Edlyn With Danir and His Brothers//Theosari "You don't need to worry about that," Edlyn assured Baltore. "I'm not interested in getting an infection, so I'll be sure to take care of it before I go to sleep. Thank you for your help. I'm not sure where I'd be without it." That was a lie, of course. She'd be dead if it weren't for his help, if it weren't for Danir's quick thinking. Edlyn would've died--she almost died in that clearing.
She smothered the thought as the brothers said their goodbyes. Ezella and Helwion were noticeable distant, barely exchanging a few words with their youngest brother while Baltore was friendly with Danir. Once more, it reminded Edlyn of her own family. With their goodbyes given, Danir let himself enjoy the night for a moment. The blacksmith watched him, a faint smile forming her features. Danir turned to her, offering his hand and the promise of a peaceful night. Edlyn stared for a moment, then took his hand with a widening smile.
Just as she was told, it didn't take long to reach his house. Like the other buildings in Theosari, it blended with the forest; the bark detailing on the outside was identical to the trees on the outskirts of town. The walls resembled a tree trunk, rounded and bumpy. Hand in hand, he led her to the door, only letting go to invite her inside. Edlyn felt a twinge of disappointment in her chest at that, and followed him into the house.
Despite the outside resembling a tree, it was impossible to tell on the inside. The walls were smooth and squared, betraying nothing about the exterior. Edlyn pulled off the cloak hood and examined the space. Unlike her house, it was two stories tall and the living room and kitchen were on opposite sides. She eyed the spiral staircase in the middle of the two rooms, admiring the work.
"It's lovely," she breathed. Danir's house was not only beautiful, but it was also quite cozy. It was lived in and cared for; Edlyn knew it would be comfortable with the worn furniture and inviting atmosphere. Even if it wasn't her home, it reminded her of it.
Edlyn finally unclapsed the cloak and handed it to Danir. Though she was glad to shed the ill-fitting garmet, it was no longer covering her tattered shirt, which was already barely covering her wound. She glanced at the healing injury, though couldn't see much. She could examine it further once she was alone. Unfortunately, that didn't solve the issue of replacing the shirt. If she was going to stay for a while, she needed some clothes anyway. Edlyn looked at Danir with a smile.
"Now, I was promised a warm meal and a hot bath. What do I have to do to get those?" There was a slight teasing in her voice, though she wasn't sure it masked her tiredness. She was hungry, sore, and exhausted, ready for her day to end.

(Yeah, and I feel extra bad because my own mental health gets in the way of it half the time too. Same! I here for the drama we've created, and I definitely want to see how it turns out. And I can see a possibility of them having to stop a second civil war between the races. XD Congrats! I hope everything has leveled out some by now, and that everything is going well!) Danir Edlyn// His Home Danir had to admit he was a bit nervous of her opinion of his home, and he wasn't entirely sure why. His house was as well kept as he could manage. Everything was kept in its place save for a few items he used on a daily basis. It showed the signs of life while not being overly messy. So, really, there was nothing that she would find to make her dislike the place. Yet the elf couldn't help but worry. It wasn't her home, and while she might find his home nice enough, he knew it wouldn't compare to the house she called her own.
So when the blacksmith let him know she liked the place, he released a breath he hadn't been aware he was holding. Smiling, he gestured towards the stairs. "The bath is upstairs," he explained, starting forwards in hopes she would follow. "While you're relaxing, I'll get to work on making you the best meal as I can a short amount of time. Not a feast, mind you. You're stomach might not be able to hold too much, but it will be something that will satisfy any hunger you might have."
The top of the stairs led the way into a large room. Two of the walls beside them were nothing but shelves, lined with books of varying sizes. In the center, the floor was covered in a plush rug that mimicked moss, and a large sofa and several reading chairs were positioned around a round coffee table. Above the seating area hung a chandler made of antlers, a piece commissioned from the trophies of his and his brother's best kills. It held many candles, but none were lit. With a quick word, the wicks sprung to life casting bright light over everything so they could see.
At the opposite end of the room was a fire place, not lit. And on either side of it were two doors. Danir led the way over to the one on the right. "This is my room," he told her, opening the door and leading his friend inside. "I guess it's a little late to mention that I don't have a guest room or second bath. So anything in here is yours to use."
His room matched the rest of the house. A large bed tucked into the corner under a window, another one of those mossy rugs on the ground, and the walls decorated with things that both looked hand made and nature-grown, a look that followed into the bathroom. There was a huge circular tub in the middle of the room, a vanity and mirror, and a wooden cabinet for towels and other supplies. Stepping over to the water spout, he began to pump the water from a supply he had through means of collected rain water, and said a quickly spell that would heat the water as it filled the tub. He then turned to look at Edlyn. "Is there anything I can get for you?"

(Unfortunately, mental health is one thing that can be difficult to get under control, assuming it can be put under control. While I don't want to deal with drama personally, it can be really fun to write about. They're dealing with enough as is. Throw in a possible war and they just have to deal with that much more. Of course, that's an idea I can get behind. Thanks! The job's going great as I've gotten into the swing of things. Now I'm just trying to juggle the end of the semester.) Edlyn With Danir//Danir's Home The house was comfortable and inviting. It felt lived in, and Edlyn could feel herself relax the longer they lingered by the doorway. As she took in Danir's house, she noticed her friend seemed nervous. He seemed more relaxed now than when they were traveling through the city, though he was still uneasy. Fortunately, it appeared to be a different nervousness from earlier; less tense than before. Danir quickly relaxed completely, exhaling deeply as he gestured to the stairs.
He began leading her through the rest of the house, talking about the bath and food he promised. Edlyn followed him up the spiral staircase, her hand gentely traced the railing, admiring the metalwork. It was sturdy, well-built, and beautiful, blending perfectly with the rest of the house.
"I don't think I can handle a feast," she laughed, "but I would like to get something in me--something more than broth and water. I trust you'll make something great. You did cook a little while you stayed with me, so I know you're good."
The staircase lead into a large room. It was dark, and Edlyn had a bit of trouble seeing. With a quick spell from her friend, the candles were lit. Edlyn lightly gasped, taking in the room. "That was amazing," she breathed, smiling. The first thing she noticed were the large bookcases on either side of the staircase. They were, of course, packed with books that all had clear signs of use on their spines. Next, she noticed the chandiler made entierly of antlers. She knew a few hunters who had elaborate furnishings made from their trophies back in Kaiden. If Danir was anything to go by, it seemed that it was no different with the elves.
Her eyes wandered over the moss-like rug in the sitting area. She was tempted to reach out and touch it or lounge in one of the comfortable-looking seats. She managed to resist the urge, instead staying following Danir as he reached one of the doors beside the dormant fireplace.
"It's nice," Edlyn hummed as she examined the room. It was homey, and like the rest of the house, comfortable. His house wasn't huge, but it was larger than hers. And while her home wasn't terribly cluttered, it wasn't nearly as neat as Danir's.
Edlyn followed her friend into the bathroom, shrugging at his words. "We'll manage with one room and bath. We were fine with the one bathroom in my house, and it's not like we need to bathe at the same time or anything." They could figure out sleeping arrangements later. She didn't mind claiming one of the chairs or even a rug if it came to it. Of course, she doubt Danir would allow that to happen.
The bathroom was similar to the rest of the house, though it matched Danir's bedroom the closest. Edlyn's eyes were drawn to the large tub in the center of the room. It could probably fit multiple people. Danir began filling it with the spout attached to the tub as Edlyn moved to sit beside him. She could feel heat rising from the water. She wasn't sure what he did, though it was more convenient and efficient than the method she used at her own home.
"Is there anything I can get for you?" Danir asked. Edlyn glanced at her worn clothes, shifting uncomfortably and blushing slightly.
"Well...you don't happen to have, um, any sp-spare clothes, do you?" The only clothes she had, she was wearing. They were either ruined beyond repair or throughly soiled from the three days spend traveling. She wasn't sure if he had any spares around, let alone anything that would fit her. Hopefully they would figure out something.

(Merry Christmas!! If you celebrate, that is. If not, than Happy Holidays! ^-^ And it's proving to be something that I might never get it under. *sighs* It's making things really though, and I'm starting to question myself at this point. There is good drama and then there's bad drama. The drama here is all good drama. More so since it's got nothing to do with us personally. XD Got love the possiblity of war to bring characters closer together. XD I know how challenging it can be, so I do hope it's all been going well.) Danir [font Edlyn // Danir's home [/font][/div] Danir chuckled and nodded. "I shall do my best. I have some venison that I will put on to roast while you bath. If it isn't done by the time you are, I have some other things as well you can snack on to hopefully tie you over," he assured.
The longer she admired his dwellings, the easier his posture became. His home was by far the most simple commpared to others. Now, simple for elves was still fancy compared to humans. Edlyn's home would easily be called a hovel to most of the people here if they ever saw it. Danir himself, however, had enjoyed the meager humbleness of her house. He didn't care as much for the flash and glam the others did. He preferred function over decoration. Now, he could admit there were plenty of details here that would be considered fancy, but it was tame and subtle, and he liked it better that way.
"Thank you," the elf relpied to her completely. "Beginner level magic, but I am quiet fond of the smaller spells. Most people overlook them or take them for granted."
"That we did," Danir mused when she brought up the point of sharing a bathroom at her home. The only difference there was they had at least had different rooms. However, that was a problem for after dinner. Right now, Edlyn needed a bath and clean clothes. And that was what he was going to provide.
With the water properly heated, the young elf straightened and let his gaze rest upon the blacksmith. He gave a small smile. "I have several shirts that might fit you. Old ones from when I was shorter, and some now. All might be long enough as a gown, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue. Pants, however, might be tricker. I have some old pairs, but we still might have to do a bit of sewing to ensure a better fit. If you're comfortable with that, of course. Just until I can find you proper fitting clothes."

(Thank you and Merry Christmas (and Happy Holidays) to you as well! How was your day? While I may not 100% get what you're going through, I definitely understand that feeling. If you ever want to talk, feel free to PM me. Yeah exactly! Danir, Edlyn, and Co can deal with anything we throw at them as long as it doesn't effect us. Again, exactly! Nothing like a little war to create strong, lasting bonds. Thankfully work is still going well for me. I'm actually having fun with the job.) Edlyn With Danir//Danir's Home "That sounds amazing. I'm looking forward to it," she hummed, her mouth nearly watering at the thought. Hopefully she would be done with the bath by the time food was ready. She didn't want to raid Danir's pantry after he had hauled her unconscious body around for three days, and didn't like the sound of a cold meal.
"I imagine even small spells have their uses, though they seem to be good for impressing people. Well, elf children I suppose. And people who have no experience experience magic: humans like me." Even if it was a beginner spell, Edlyn couldn't help but be captivated by the magic. Yes it was convenient, but it was also beautiful and truly a wonder to behold.
Edlyn brushed the tips of her fingers against the warm water, watching as it rippled beneath her touch. It felt perfect and was exactly what she needed. She turned her attention back to Danir and met his eyes; returning his smile as he answered her question, and shoving down her sense of embarssment.
"I hate to order you around, but maybe you could pull out a couple of shirts and I can try them on after my bath. See what fits best. As long as it reaches somewhere around my knees, it should be okay." That was about as short as her summer nightgown. Edlyn had been around Danir in that at least once--on the night his brothers arrived to her home--and would be comfortable wearing it around him again.
"As for the pants, maybe we should just figure that out tomorrow. Besides, as long as these get wash--" she gestured to the soiled pair she wore now, "--we don't have to worry about finding replacements immediately." He was already doing plenty for her, he didn't need to modify clothes for her as well. It had been easier to get Danir something than it was her. Corwin had left some clothes behind from his previous visit. Though it was a size or two too large and the pants had been a little short on him, it worked well enough until Edlyn snagged something from town. Unless Danir had sister or lover she didn't know about who was around her size, getting clothes discreetly would be a challenge. That wasn't even considering getting some fresh undergarments, but she could worry about that later. They had enough on their plate for the time being.
"Thank you again, Danir. For everything. I shouldn't take too long; maybe twenty or thirty minutes."

(Eh, the holidays weren't a good time mentally, but they were well. How about for you? ^^ I really do appreciate that, thank you. I'm in a state where I feel like I shouldn't burden people with my problems, but I do really appreciate the offer and may do just that. And the offer goes for you too. I know I'm not on as often as I'd like to, but I will be happy to listen and help if you need anything. Which should be easy to do unless they figure out how to become real. XD Builds character for them. XD That's great! It's tricky finding jobs that are fun, so I'm glad that yours is going well for you. ^^ ) Danir Edlyn// His Home Danir nodded, knowing that if she finished before or after the food was done, he would have something to fill her stomach. His home was always well stocked with food, just in case his brothers decided to join him or if friends were over. He was a hunter, and by result, he liked to be sure he could provide enough for any situation, even if there was not many situations that arose for such a need of a well stocked pantry.
"That it is," he said, smiling in amusement. He lifted his hand and created a couple of sparks, bouncing them around his fingers and spinning in the air. "It's almost calming in the simplicity of it all. Perhaps it's just me, but when thoughts are racing, having something small and easy helps keep things from getting out of hand, you know?"
Danir shook his head and released the spell. "But now is not the time for entertainment and fidgeting," the elf said. He couldn't help but watch her as she tested the water, ready to go adjust it if it wasn't how she liked. But it must have been fine, for she made no comment. When she turned, his eyes found hers. "Right, I will lay them out on the bed for you to go through. As well as at least one or two of the pants, just in case. Whatever fits, you can keep. Whatever doesn't, just lay them in a pile and I'll put them away later. Or we can test my sewing skills and see if I can make them work."
"You're more than welcome, Edlyn. I would gladly do it all again. Take as long as you need. Anything you see, you are free to use, and if there's something you can't find, just let me know. Towels and wash clothes are there, soap and shampoo there, and if you wish for fragrance in the water, there are herbs with the soap as well," Danir said, pointing out the places of each item so she knew where to look. Once done, he looked once more to her. A part of him felt like he should do more, but there was nothing left for him to do in the moment. The blacksmith was well enough that she didn't need assistance in her bathing. So he nodded and turned to give her privacy. "Again, shout if you need anything. I'll be right downstairs." And with that, he walked towards the door, pulling it closed behind him.

(I'm sorry to hear things weren't great mentally, but at least it doesn't sound like they were terrible. As for me, the holidays were good. My uncle and little cousin came up to visit, which was nice. I also got a bonded pair if rabbits on December 20th believing they were sisters. Apparently, one of them was pregnant and had seven babies (though there's only four left) and the other is actually male. So I've been dealing with that since last Tuesday, the 4th and it's been...something. Anyway, I hope I could help in any way I can. I understand why you might feel like it's a burden to talk to people (there's nothing wrong with those feelings, it happens) just know it wouldn't be a burden if you ever decide to reach out. I appreciate the offer and I'll take you up on it if I never need to. Thank you! Haha as much as I live them, let's hope they don't. And exactly. What's a little character building coming from war and drama? Yeah and thanks, *Nightwhisper!) Edlyn With Danir//Danir's Home "I understand what you're saying. Though I can't do magic, if a project is stressing me out too much or if I get stuck on it, working on something small and simple helps clear my head. The way you described the spells, though, it sounded more peaceful and calming than that," Edlyn said thoughtfully. She absent-mindedly rolled her necklace between her fingers while Danir directed her to the soaps, washcloths, and towels, and promised her a small selection of shirts and pants she could borrow.
"Though I would like to see you put your sewing skills to the test, let's hope you won't need them," Edlyn lightly teased, smiling. "I'm sure I'll make use of everything you've offered. Thank you Danir, I truly appreciate everything you've done for me and continue to do for me. You're a good friend."
Danir closed the door behind him as he left. Edlyn watched him go, her eyes lingering on the door for a moment after it shut. The blacksmith shook herself to her feet and headed to the cabinet where the washcloths and towels resided. She pulled out one of each, and placed them next to the bath. Next, she reached for the body and hair soaps. Sueprisingly, he had a few options to chose from. Edlyn pulled out a mint-scented bar for her body and took two bottles of something that smelled like cinnamon and vanilla for her hair. She also placed it next to the bath. With everything collected, she was finally ready to bathe.
Edlyn let her shirt and underclothing fall away from her torso, letting it crumple to the floor behind her. She shivered slightly as the cooler air brushed against her bare skin. Drawing in an unsteady breath, she looked down at her stomach. Down at the spot where the warg had injured her, and lightly traced her fingers over the healing marks. She poked at it, recoiling slightly as she did so. It was sore. That wasn't too surprising as it hadn't fully healed yet. Fortunately, the pain wasn't as sever as it had been when she initially received the wound. She shivered again, though it wasn't from the cold this time.
Edlyn turned her attention back to the bath. She needed to take advantage of the warmth for as long as possible. Removing the rest of the clothing, she placed it into two piles. The first was for the clothes she could salvage, and the second was for the ones she couldn't. Ultimately, only her button up shirt and undershirt needed to be discarded. The rest simply needed a thorough wash. The only thing she kept on was her necklace.
With her clothes taken care of, Edlyn finally slipped into the bath, settling down until the warm water reached her neck. She hummed lightly as she let herself relax. After spending three days unconscious and another one traveling, it was certainly something she needed. Though she wanted to linger in the warmth, she was hungry and Danir needed to bathe too. She had to be quick. Edlyn washed her body once, scrubbing away at her skin with the washcloth until it was free of the three days worth of dirt and grime. She then moved onto her hair, shampooing and conditioning it twice until it was thoroughly clean.
By the time she was done, the bathwater was only lukewarm and murky. Edlyn unplugged the drain and stepped out of the tub. She grabbed the towel and wrapped it around her body, before heading to the cabinet to grab a second towel for her hair. Once everything was secure, she collected her salvageable clothes and headed to the bathroom door to get changed.
