Here you go, *Nightwhisper~ Six hundred years ago, the elves were driven into the eastern forest of Kaidan. No human is entierly sure why. Some say a rising conflict caused them to isolate themslves; others claim humans forced them there out of fear; while a few believe a few years of war led them to seeking refuge in the woods. Whatever the cause, lack of contact between the two people has led to fear and misconceptions about the mysterious elves. From legends about them being child-snatching fiends to laws sentencing people to death for helping an elf, the fear runs deep. Memories of a time when the fear was freshest have long faded. Tales of the forest dwellers continue to persist and many are still afraid of what they're capable of. However, not all have this fear. People have started questioning the validity of these long-held grudges, wondering why exactly the elves are supposed to be avoided. Danir Taleth - 60 years old but looks like he's in his 20's, elf ranger. Danir stands at 6'1", average height for an elf. Like all elves, his frame is lithe and agile, but at the same time hardy and toned from years of hunting and training, even if his muscles don’t show it on first glance. His face consisted of sharp angles that were softened by full lips and bright green eyes. It’s hard to exactly tell how old he is due to the aging process of elves. At first glance, he appearance to be in his early twenties. Though the most noticeable part of his appearance, and what set him gave him away as an elf, is his ears. They are the typical style elf ears, gently sloping up into a point maybe two and a half inches, possibly three, above a normal human’s ear. If you want to know how he’s feeling, pay attention to those ears. If he’s embarrassed, they’ll burn a bright red, which was more noticeable because of the extra surface area. If he was sad, the very tips tended to droop just the tiniest amount, giving him an almost puppy dog appearance. His brunette hair reached passed his shoulders, and he usually had one, small braid on the right side. Think of Legolas's hair, only brown. Danir's fashion consists of mainly tunics of either green, brown, or grey, brown pants, and his favorite pair of hunting boots. Yet he does own a few items of clothing for special occasions. He enjoys the simplistic style, so he it’s rare to find him in any kind of extravagant clothes.
- For the most part, Danir is a laid back kind of guy. He's a jokester and likes to have fun, but at the same time, he knows when to serious and get things accomplished when the need arises. Humor won't solve everything, and he knows it. With this carefree attitude, it isn’t much of a surprise that the male didn’t tend to overthink a lot of things. Growing up in a race of people where magic flowed through everyone and everything, Danir took the simplest explanation to any of life’s greatest mysteries and questions. Magic was capable of anything, so who knows where its limits stopped.
Edlyn Smith - 24 years old, human blacksmith. Edlyn stands slightly above average in height, around 5'7", and is lightly musclar due to the nature of her work. She has medium, tan skin scattered with various scars collected from her youth. She has round features, complimented soft, brown eyes and slightly wavey, light brown hair that reaches down to her upper-lower back. She usually keeps it tied or braided up and out of her face. Edlyn tends to wear simple clothing: plain button-up with an undershirt beneath; stained, but well-made, trousers; and sturdy leather boots. It's not uncommon to see her in a blacksmith's apron or with thick leather gloves for her work.
- Edlyn is quite friendly, caring, and kind. Despite her warm nature, she's not a force to be messed with. Her stubborn nature mixed with her confidence and occasional arrogance often gets her into trouble. This, coupled with her often of speaking her mind and being blunt, doesn't help either. Edlyn doesn't give up easily. She's determined to see a task complete and always patient enough to see it through. Even when things go wrong, she powers through it. She's rather intelligent and can usually find various ways to get out of a situation. Her observant nature also helps with this, though sometimes gets her flustered or embarrassed. Here's my girl~
Edlyn Smith - 24 years old, human blacksmith. Edlyn stands a little above average in height, around 5'8'' and is quite musclar due to her work. She has dark olive-toned skin scattered with scars and light, honey-brown eyes. Short, wavy, light brown hair, which is usually tied back, sits just above her shoulders. She tends to wear simple clothing; a tunic, thick leggings, and brown leather boots. It's not uncommon to see her with a leather apron for her work or a cloak.
- Friendly, caring, kind, stubborn, determined, confident, blunt, often speaks her mind, a bit cocky, observant, intelligent, patient, easily flustered, a bit shy,
- Edlyn was born to a well-respected lady knight/former knight and a highly trusted blacksmith. Youngest of three, she was the only one to show a major interest in smithing. Her siblings had passions elsewhere. Her brother became a healer while her sister became a knight herself. Her father as her mentor, she's become a master blacksmith in her own right. Because of her parents and vast knowledge of weaponry, she knows how to use most everything though she has her preferences. She mainly uses swords and morningstars.

Cool! I'll get my character up sometime tomorrow. Right now, I have to go to bed. Danir Taleth // Male // 25 (Actual Age) Danir stands at 6'1", average height for an elf. I'll probably also do that for Edlyn myself.
Anyway I was thinking we could work on some background stuff for a bit more context in the world and flesh out the plot a bit more. I have some ideas if you're interested~

So maybe something happened a long time ago that caused a rift between the humans and elves. Tensions could've been high before or they could've risen over time. Perhaps it could have something to do with elves having magic and very few, if any, humans don't. Alternatively if the elves and humans had different kingdoms, maybe there could've been a dispute over territory that caused the rift and things just spiraled from there into something like war. The humans won this war/battle/etc. and forced the elves into hiding. Maybe some kind of forest where there's a lot of magic creatures and stuff that people go missing in after dusk? Because of this and past conflict and their magic, elves are considered a violent and dangerous people.

Awesome! And yeah that would make sense. Resources plus fear of being indefensible against magic caused the humans/the ruler(s) to react poorly. Fear plus greed make sense for why the elves are treated the way they are.
So now onto the plot assuming you're good with the background info we have.

Awesome~
Anyway, Edlyn is someone who likes to explore and adventure. Maybe she lives by the forest/wherever the elves are and goes into their woods from time to time. I have a couple of scenarios we could use.
1) So during one of her adventures, she gets caught out after dusk and is helped by the elves for one reason or another. Danir is injured and stays/is left behind so he doesn't slow them down. Edlyn finds them and feels like she owes him something for helping her.
2) Edlyn gets into a fight with them and Danir is injured. The others flee leaving Danir behind (maybe he stays back not to slow them down?) and Edlyn finds him. She can't bring herself to do anything else, so she helps him.
3) She just stumbles upon an injured Danir and decides to help him instead of killing/mortally wounding him.
Those are some if my ideas, what do you think?

Usually, I go with option three, just because no one else before really plans out the first meeting. XD I like the idea of Edlyn getting attacked by a creature, one that the elves know how to deal with but is still dangerous if they're not careful. Since Danir is one of the youngest of the elves (considering the race lives incredibly long), he's the first to just jump in to help her without thinking too much about it. The others he's with doesn't want to, but they help get rid of the creature and help him get away from the human up to a certain point. Then, knowing that Danir isn't in shape to travel all the way back (and to kind of prove how stupid they thought him to be), they leave him in order to go get help. Instead, Edlyn catches up to him first and offers her aid. I don't see Danir picking a fight with her, so it'd be the first or third option in my opinion.

Haha yeah I get that! I like the sound of what you proposed with the first idea, so I think we should go with that one if that's alright. Edlyn would be surprised when Danir rushes in to help because he's an elf and they just don't do that. At least so she's been told~ Maybe the creature they fight could be one that they've been trying to track and take care of for a while too?

I completely get that. My dad's half Native American and half Hispanic as his parent's mothers were indigenous. My grandmother's mom was taken from the reserve due to supposedly inhumane conditions(not entirely sure how true it is, because of possible racism) and my grandfather's mother was a slave/concubine and he was a slave himself up until he was 7/8. They were both born in 1948.
Anyway that sounds like a good mix. And as you said, because they have access to magic they won't need as many people.

Yeah that's pretty much all I know of my dad's family in terms of heritage. I know a lot more about my mother's in terms of where that side if my heritage lies. Mostly European, though there's some Cherokee in there down the line~
I was thinking her family could own some type of property. Her siblings have left the house, but because she's starting to take over her father's blacksmithing work, she probably lives in a small home alone on their land near the mysterious woods. So she could theoretically keep him there. Also maybe have him be a bit more injured so these people who may not like each other at first are forced to work together/be friends.

Oh that's really cool! I mean even if it's not true, why not say it is until you know?
Awesome and sounds good~ As you said, it would give them time to connect and form a friendship. So you think we're ready to start?

(I tend to write long starters. Feel free to write something smaller. Also sorry that took longer than expected. I helped make and had dinner.)
Edlyn gazed at the daunting forest, mulling over her choices for a moment. She wasn't exactly keen on entering the misty wood, especially as dusk was to fall in a few hours. But, Silverwood made some of the best hilts for swords and was in high demand. She also promised her father she'd at least find where a new grove was. She didn't intend on going back on her promise. Besides, it wasn't like it was all bad. The young woman had been into the forest hundreds of times before and nothing bad had happened. She knew it well enough to survive and navigate through what would be confusing to the average person. Tightening the grip on her backpack strap, the young woman headed into the forest confidently. She past ancient, mighty trees and small shrubs alike. A blueish hue hung in the cool air while a slight haze drifted around. Despite barely being in the forest, it was like she was in another world. It was both a breath-taking and unnerving expierence. Above the thick canopy, birds chirped joyfully and sang their sweet songs in peace. It relaxed the blacksmith some, easing her discomfort some. After a few minutes of walking, Edlyn pulled out her map. She gazed over areas with her finger, trying to figure out where to go. Sights were Silverwood was previous found were already marked. She paused for a moment to figure out where she was. Glancing between the trees and her map, she quickly figured out her exact location. An oak with an etching told her which way was which. Smiling, the young woman contiuned on her path.
An hour and a half had passed since Edlyn entered the quiet wood. The birds had seemed to silent some, but it didn't bother her. It was something birds did from time to time. The blacksmith had entered an unfamiliar section of wood. She had to because there were no signs of Silverwood trees anywhere in the explored parts. At least trees she could collect wood from. She didn't like taking more than she needed, wanting to preserve the rare plant. The map was a helpful thing, but there was only so much it could do. At the very least she was able to mark down everything and leave a marker on the surrounding trees. As the young woman contiuned to walked ahead, a feeling of dread washed over her. She paused for a moment and breathed in deeply. She scanned around for a moment as something caught her eye. Up ahead there were deep scratch Mark's in the bark of an ash. Cautiously, Edlyn approched. She traced the marks with her hand. They were at least three times bigger than her fingers. The blacksmith stepped back, then looked at the ground. Huge prints caught her eye. She kneeled down to better examine them. Edlyn wasn't a ranger or tracker by any means, but the paw print was clear and huge. There was a beast in the forest. The woman didn't find what she was looking for and she wasn't about to stick around to contiune to look. The Silverwood could wait, she wasn't about to risk her life for it. Quietly, she got up and began to retrace her steps, careful not to alert anything. It was one of the last things she wanted. She kept her map close and had her hand around her sword, in case she needed it.
Edlyn was walking for fifteen minutes in silence. The forest seemed dead. Nothing moved or made a sound. Perhaps the creatures were afraid of whatever was out there or perhaps it was the time of day for a rest. She wasn't entirely sure what it was, only that the woods seemed eerie. It would take her a while to exit the forest, but as long as she was careful she'd be fine. As the young woman contiuned on her path, her blood suddenly froze. Up ahead there were more pawprints. Edlyn bent down to examine them for a moment. They weren't there before. In fact they appeared to be fresh prints, which meant that whatever made them was nearby. The blacksmith shot up and took a quick look around. Nothing obvious stood out to her. She took another look at the tracks and followed them with her eyes. She she observed them, she could hear a growl to where they lead. Her head shot up and eyes widened. The head of a cat-like creature popped from the bushes and snarled at her. Edlyn gripped her sword tightly and shoved her map in her pockets. Slowly she began to move down the path, trying not to aggravate the beast. Briefly they stood across from each other, staring. Before she could move on, the black-furred beast let out a might roar and leapt out from the bush. The blacksmith didn't waste any time as she began to blindly dash ahead. She didn't look behind her as she ran. Eyes forward she tried to find means of escape.
