The sword clanged again as it was kicked away. Edlyn wanted to reach for it, but she couldn't move. After a moment, the intruder placed his arms under hers and began to drag her towards the door. She was no better than a freshly murdered corpse being dragged off to be buried. Edlyn wanted to protest or fight back, but no matter how much she tried to move nothing happened. Anger burned in the woman's chest. As soon as she could move again, they would have to face her ire.
The creaking of the door caught Edlyn's attention. She tried to look, but her head refused to move. Right, that spell, she thought bitterly. As she continued to be dragged out, she caught sight of another figure. She couldn't make out any features, but it was obvious they were another elf. She wanted to glare at the third intruder, but found that her face wouldn't move either. The third intruder followed the pair out wordlessly. Although it was late summer, the air was already growing chilly. Her skin prickled and if she could move, she would've stiffened from the chill. Although the nightgown was fairly long- it reaching a few inches past her knees and the sleeves went down to her elbows -it didn't help much to keep her warm.
The horses in their pasture took her attention for a moment. The elves clearly made them nervous, which wasn't surprising. Edlyn wanted to comfort them, but knew that would be impossible. Although she could barely feel it, he man placed her down and began to bind her hands behind her. She still couldn't struggle, argue, or break free. She was stuck. As he finished, the blacksmith's attention was drawn back towards her house. Danir appeared and tried to reason with the elves, but was quickly silenced. At least it sounded that way. She didn't want to believe it was anything else. The elf she had fought brought her to her feet, though she couldn't stand. He quickly picked her up and the group was soon headed towards the forest. She hoped the strange spell would wear off soon so she could at least hinder the trip.
(Okay, cool! Also she's not going to be happy at all haha.
It's a minor thing, but I put the season as late summer (think like late August/early September). Just wanted to see if you we're fine with that~
Lastly, how are you doing?)

(I wouldn't expect her to be. XD Give them hell, Edlyn!
And yeah, having it be late summer is fine it me. I actually hadn't given much thought to what season they were in, so that works out fine. ^^
I've been doing pretty well. Went back to work this Monday, and it's pretty a little hectic, but not terribly so. How about you?)
Danir couldn't sit by and let them do this. It was clear that the three were taking them towards the forest. It was the only safe spot for them. Even if Edlyn's home was on the outskirts of town, the others didn't know that. They didn't want to risk bringing attention to any other humans. They would have to stop soon. There was no way they were going to bring Edlyn along with them longer than they had to. So, for now, he simply followed the three "rescuers".
upon entering the forest, the group walked until the woman's house was no longer in view. That seemed to satisfy their need for safety. The elf holding Edlyn roughly dropped her to the ground, earning a stern comment from the elf carrying the bow. At the same time, the archer lifted his hand and called forth several orbs of light to fill the area. With the light, the features of the elves were finally revealed. The archer, and tallest of the group by two inches, had dark brown hair cut short, green eyes, and a slight scar running down the right side of his jaw. The other two were twins with flaming red hair. The only differences in their appearance were their eyes. One had strikingly blue eyes, and the other had more of a golden brown color that was hard to properly make out in the poor light.
The elf who had dropped Edlyn, the one with blue eyes, muttered a bitter response and kicked the woman's. This time, it was Danir that stepped up for her defense. He rushed over and shoved the elf backed, gesturing to his friend and having to consciously not shout. It took a good minute before, very reluctantly and not at all pleased, the elf forced the spell on the human to deactivate sooner than it would have on its own. Without another word, Danir turned and went to help Edlyn to her feet.
"I'm sorry, Edlyn," he told her, frustration still coloring his tones. "I knew they would come sooner or later, I just didn't know they'd be so rough." He sighed. "So much for good impressions on their part.

Edlyn tried to make out the features of the other elves. Unfortunately, it was too dark to do so and it wasn't like she could move her head. She was stuck. A small part of her was frightened, wondering what her fate would be. Of course it was nothing compared to her anger. She wanted to make them regret their actions. Part of that would be escaping. Edlyn began to form a plan and would be sure the kidnappers wouldn't leave unscathed. Before she had a chance to get far with it, the group stopped. The blacksmith was dropped to the ground like a sac of potatoes. Before she had a chance to react- react as much as she could while being paralyzed -one of the elves summoned a light.
It blinded Edlyn for a moment, the flash hurting her eyes. She squeezed them closed for a minute before carefully trying to adjust to the brightness. Hazel eyes half-opened, she began to study the elves. Danir was to the side, seemingly unsure what to do while the three intruders clustered together. Two were clearly twins with similar red hair and builds. The other one- the one she assumed had been at her door when she was dragged out -was taller and dark-haired. There was a vague familiarity about him, though she had never seen him before. Edlyn couldn't dwell on it much as one of the redheaded elves approched and kicked her. The pain was dull, but persistent.
As she slowly blinked through the feeling, Danir burst forward and pushed the other man away. The blacksmith softly closed her eyes in relief. He was still her friend, of course he would do something. After some hushed words were exchanged between the two, Edlyn gasped as the spell was lifted. The pain from the kick shot through her body, causing her to tense and breath in sharply. It didn't last and soon was replaced by sore throbbing. As Danir approched, she managed to get to her knees aware of the leaves, twigs, and various other things from the forest floor that now clung to her hair and nightgown.
"Thanks. Don't beat yourself up, though. It's not your fault and you were just as surprised as me," she quietly muttered as she got to her feet. Her legs wobbled a bit, the effects of the strange spell still felt. Edlyn gave herself a minute to rest, allowing herself to adjust to her surrondings. Drawing in a deep breath, she turned towards the other three elves and took an unconscious step forward. Her eyes burned with rage and if looks could kill, they would all be dead.
"Just who do you think you all are? Breaking and entering in the middle of the night instead of being invited in like normal people? And you," she turned her attention to the elf who carried her, "what was with that kick? Paralyzing me, dragging me, kidnapping me, and then dropping me wasn't enough? You just had to kick me too? Are you simply not strong enough to handle an equal so you have to abuse a down opponent? Pathetic." Her words were dripping with venom and she was half tempted to kick him herself. She knew better than to run at him, however.
(Yeah!
Alright sounds good! I didn't either, but I realized if they were going outside it would probably have to be somewhat warm.
That's good to hear. I can only imagine how hectic it may be, but it doesn't sound too bad at least. I'm doing good, just a little bored at times, which is not a big deal. I also have finals next week, but I think I'll do fine on them.)

Edlyn had every right to be angry. She had been treated with nothing but disrespect, and if it were anyone else, he would let her take a piece out of them. However, he couldn't do that right now. Instead, he stepped in front of her and held out his arm to block her way. "Easy, there, Lyn," he said, sighing slightly. "It is my fault, to some degree. These three idiots are my brothers." "I believe the only idiot here is you," one of the twins said, speaking to where the human could understand. "Staying in a human's house. Coming this far out of the forest? That was the stupidest thing you could have ever done!" (That's fine with me. ^^ Finals are always a fun time. I wish you the best of luck on them! I know you'll do great! )

She could hear Danir's voice softly try and calm her down as he stepped ahead and put his arm out in front of her. Edlyn glanced at the elf for a moment and quietly sight. She was frustrated with the situation, but knew lashing out too violently could get her hurt or worse. He had a point. She stood quietly for a moment as the man explained the situation. Edlyn glanced at Danir for a moment before shifting her gaze back towards the other three. She gave a small nod, noticing the similarities between them. Of course they were his brothers. Of course they would be out searching for him. Although she would never admit it, the blacksmith hoped she would be safer with that fact.
Unfortunately that thought still wasn't comforting. Her anger had subsided some, but now was rising again. The other elves being Danir's brothers only made the situation worse in her eyes. They could've done anything else other than kidnap her. Anything. Before she could say something, one of the twins spoke up. It was the one who had mistreated her the worst. Of course it was. As he finished with his words, Edlyn snorted.
"That's funny coming from you. At least I invited him into my home so he could heal up. The lot of you broke in, attacked me, and then brought me out here. You could have done literally anything else and it would've been fine in comparison. But no, clearly none of you were smart enough to think of a better solution!" She was yelling at that point. Although she knew drawing attention to the group could be dangerous, she didn't care. Edlyn drew in a deep breath and tried to force herself to relax some. Blinking slowly, she narrowed her eyes towards the other elves.
"I deserve answers. Why have you kidnapped me? What was the point of bringing me all the way out here when you could've actually talked to me back at my house?" The anger in her voice was unmistakable, though she was careful not to yell again. Whatever their answer was, she hoped it would at least be logical.
(Connection has been rather spotty and my power had been out for a few hours now, but I managed to post this which was cool.
Anyway, thanks! I hope the same for you assuming you have finals too. If not, I just hope you're doing good.)

Danir wanted to let her have at his brothers. She was right, of course. There were hundreds of ways they could have handled this situation better than they had. However, this wasn't surprising behavior from the twins. "Edlyn, as much as I would love for you to lecture them, right now really is not the best time to be shouting," he told her. "This is all a big misunderstanding, and if we just have a civilized conversation, we can work this all out."
"The only thing we need to do is kill her and be on our way," the twin with hazel eyes replied. The disdain in his voice and expression was hard to miss.
"No one is killing anyone," the archer of the group finally spoke up. When the other elf looked ready to protest, he snapped, "Enough! Our little brother is right, but I'm afraid we're still too close to the human borders for us to be safe, especially with all this shouting. We need to get back to our camp site. There, we will talk."
Danir nodded and looked to the blacksmith. "Please, just follow along. Nothing will happen to you, I promise. Baltore won't let the twins do anything, and chances are you'll be back home before the sun rises."
(That does not sound good. Hopefully those things will get better soon, especially if you have to take your finals online.
Haha, luckily I'm done with school, so I don't have to worry about them. But I am doing good, so thank you. ^^ )

"Alright. Fine," the blacksmith sighed. "I'll be civil. For now." The elf had a point, they wouldn't get anywhere through arguing. Although it hardly seemed like a misunderstanding to her, she was the one who had been bound and kicked. She would never admit it, but that tainted her opinion on the situation. She didn't want to stop arguing until she got an answer, but knew better than to contiune. Her attention turned to the other twin. Edlyn sighed and narrowed her eyes.
"That's a terrible idea," she grumbled. She didn't say anything more as the the tallest elf finally spoke up. He had been mostly quiet, but protested the idea of killing her. That was something good at least. At the suggestion of going somewhere to talk, Edlyn was hesitant. She didn't want to venture further into the woods, but knew it would be unwise to protest. Danir
"Alright. Let's get this over with," she sighed. Besides, it seemed like a good idea. She waited to see what they would do before following. She would be walking, hating the idea of being picked up again.
(Well it's cloudy, windy, and cool today. But it might be better? Hard to tell. But I've been messaging my professors, who have been very understanding with the online work, so if worst comes to worst we'll figure something out.
That's good to hear! Yay for now more school and that fact you've been doing well.)

Edlyn followed along, taking careful steps in the darkness. Danir walked beside her, helping the blacksmith as they made their way through the woods. Sticks, mud, and fallen leaves stuck to her feet as they made the walk to the campsite. It annoyed her. What proved to be almost as annoying was her inability to move the hair that had fallen to her face. She always kept it up and out of the way during the day, finding it easier to deal with it when she was awake. Even if she wasn't bound and being forced through the forest, there was really nothing she could put it up with. All she had were the clothes on her back and the pendant around her neck. Yet another reason to be frustrated with the elves.
The young woman didn't dwell on her grievances, there would be plenty of time for that later. Instead, she silently followed the others and only listened to the calming sounds of the forest. Frogs and crickets chirped while a few fireflies offered some form of light. Despite her predicament, Edlyn found it rather beautiful. She probably would've appreciated it more had it not been for her current situation. It had probably been about an hour since the elves had first showed up. The blacksmith wondered how much longer it would take for them to reach the camp. Apparently it wasn't too long as she heard the group slow down and one of the men walk ahead. After a moment, a flash of light caused her to jump and attempt to shield her eyes. Edlyn began to slowly adjust to the light as she was guided to one side of the fire. The woman sat on her side, as the tallest elf spoke. He asked about the events that led up to Danir taking refuge in her home. She was half tempted to starting ranting about their behavior, but knew it would get her nowhere. Instead, she answered the question.
"About a week ago, I was out in the forest and came across a wampus. Danir and the other two rangers had been hunting it. I helped fight and kill the thing, then went on my way. As I was heading back home, I found him injured and not looking so good, so I brought him back to my house to help. He spent the week healing. Then we skip to tonight where you all broke into my house and proceeded to attack, paralyze, kidnap, drop, and then kick me for reasons I'm still unsure of. It's especially baffling because like any normal person, you could've come and talk. Instead, you chose the most senseless idea imaginable." Edlyn glared at the Danir's brothers as she recounted the tale. The bitterness in her voice was unmistakable and she wanted to make her anger well known, thought it probably already was. She hoped her concerns would finally be acknowledged and they would at least provide her with some kind of answer.
(Yeah exactly, I got really lucky. I'm glad it's all over with because I finished my finals Wednesday and now I'm free until next semester. I just hope I don't have to deal with this again.
That's always nice, after all homework simply sucks. I'm glad I can say the same now myself.)

Danir sat down beside Edlyn, much to his brother's disapproval. It was more to keep her from jumping up and doing anything than to protect her from his brother's at this point. One of the twins scoffed when she explained how she had helped kill the beast, to which he cast a glare in his direction.
"I think she witnessed the fight and thought to hold him hostage," the blue-eyed twin commented. "No human would survive a fight with a wampus."
"Actually, she dealt quiet a bit of damage to the beast," Danir confirmed, matter-of-factly. "If it was not for her, we wouldn't have been able to kill the beast at all. She's an exceptional fighter, one that I would gladly have by my side any day."
"Get a load of this. Baby brother's been brainwashed by the human," the other twin spoke. "Even more reason to kill her and be done with all of this."
Baltore settled a leveled gaze to the twins silent for a moment. Then ignored them. "You took him in and healed him?" he asked Edlyn. "Even though you could have been killed if he was found within your home?"
(Congrats! Enjoy the time off. Hopefully things will kind of calmed down by the time net semester starts.

As she explained the events, one of the redheads scoffed. Unsurprisingly, it was the man with blue eyes. Edlyn narrowed her eyes, half-tempted to say something. Instead, Danir came to her defense earning a small smile from her. It didn't last long as the second twin spoke up, accusing her of brainwashing his brother. Edlyn sighed and gave him a flat, but annoyed look.
"Yes, you're right. I had both the time and energy to put work into brainwashing someone instead of doing my job or making sure we weren't caught. I'm clearly some mastermind that should be feared." Her words dripped with sarcasm and there was still more she wanted to say. Instead, she held her tongue. It would be better to get whatever they wanted out of the way so she could leave. He attention turned from the pair, towards the third elf. The last brother spoke up again, asking a couple of questions. Edlyn thought about it for a moment before saying anything.
"Well, heal is a relative term. I'm not a healer, but I know enough to at least help. So, yes I brought him to my home so he could regain his strength and whatnot. I'm also quite aware of the laws of Kaidan. As long as he stayed hidden, nothing would've happened. Even if we did get caught, we wouldn't have been killed immediately. It would've been more a lot complicated than that." She muttered the last part. Her family certinaly wouldn't have been happy about it, though whether or not she would've been killed was unknown to her. Silence had settled over the group. Edlyn wasn't sure if everyone was mulling over her words or simply didn't know what else to say. She was tired, a little cold, and a mess. All she wanted was to go home.
"Can we all be on our way now? I'm sure the rest of you can agree this has gone on long enough and I would assume you want to go home too." She kept her voice even and civil. Of course she still wanted to argue and scold the group, however that would only serve to prolong things. She was ready to end the conversation and be done with everything.
(Thanks! And yeah I agree. Online learning was not fun and rather diffcult.
It really is. In elementary/middle/high school it's rather pointless unless there's work that wasn't completed in class. In college it's long and tideous, but needs to be done to get everything you need.)

Baltore took in all that the woman said in silence, mulling over her words and the options that were laid before them.
"I wish nothing more than for all of us to go home. However, I do not think that things will be as simple as that. Not now since we've dragged you all the way here. But, rest assured, no one will be killing you."
Daniel signed a silent sigh of relief. Leave it to Baltore to be the rational one here. "But will we do? Why can't she just go home?"
"And how do you think the Council will react when they find out that a human had cared for you?" Baltore asked. "Danir, I know you. You've always been one to make friends, and in doing so, I bet you've told her a lot about us, have you not? "
(All in all, homework just sucks.
I've been doing good. My internet is out, so I've been stuck using my phone for replies, which isn't the best. It's hard writing long, good replies on the phone, which is one reason I haven't replied sooner. Edlyn sighed, but couldn't be too miffed about her prospects. At least she wouldn't die tonight. She supposed that was the least she could hope for, however the man's other words bothered her. Why would it matter if she was dragged into the forest? It wasn't like it changed much, if anything. What difference would that make? They were still in a stretch of woods where humans often travled. She and the other people of Willow Creek never had run ins or problems with elves before and it wasn't like she was going to share the night's events with the others. Danir seemed to have the same concerns as he spoke up. Edlyn nodded along in agreement. When Baltore mentioned the council, the blacksmith knew where he was heading with his point. The woman scoffed.
"Well screw the council, they don't have to know any of this happened," Edlyn pointed out. Perhaps it wasn't the greatest idea to basically insult their leaders, but the blacksmith was tried, frustrated, and overall annoyed. She almost couldn't care less to watch her words at that point. "What does it matter if he told me some things about your culture?" She contiuned. "Do you really think I'm going to blab anything I've learned to anyone? It would raise suspicion and frankly I don't want to have to deal with any of the fall out," she grumbled. She glanced at the three elves on the other side of the fire though half-closed eyes. It wasn't a glare or even a look of suspicion, she just wanted to be done with it all.
(Yeah typing on the phone is rough. I don't have good, consistent access to a computer, so I do almost everything on my phone. I've definently gotten to the point where I can comfortably write long replies, but those first few weeks were rough. Good luck doing stuff on your phone and ai good everything ends up working out for you.
Anyway, I'm doing good. Been busy, but it hasn't been stressful. Can't wait for quarantine to be over. Hopefully by the end of July everything will more or less go back to normal.)

"Watch your mouth, you little-" The blue eyed twin started, taking an angry step forward and raising a blade in her direction.
"Enough, Helwion," Baltor said, holding up his hands as if to deflect both the woman and his brother's anger. "I know that it might not seem like a big deal, but you must see our side of things," he said to Edlyn. "Our people have been forced from our homes and lands, hunted down and killed. Despite our use of magic, our way of life was nearly wiped out. And if it wasn't for that magic, we wouldn't have been able to secure the town we have now.
"Now, I do not doubt your vow of silence about Danir's presence in your home," he continued, "however, I question Danir's ability to keep it to himself. Don't get defensive, Danir. You wouldn't do it on purpose, but do you think no one will notice your newfound defense of humans whenever someone if insulting them? If you jump forward with claims that not all of them are bad, then you'll be asked how you know such things, especially knowing our personal affront we have claim to. You might not mean to admit to being cared for by her, but your no doubt new friendship with Edlyn will be hard for you to allow to be insulted by others. Sooner or later, someone is going to find out that you weren't alone in the woods these few days, nor that it was yourself that was able to heal your wounds."
As much as he would have loved to defend himself and his ability to act, Danir knew his brother had a point. He was very loyal to his friends, and he would gladly defend them no matter what. Normally, he could tolerate everyone's complaints about the humans, but now? After getting to know Edlyn, it would be hard for him to pretend that every human was as vile as he was brought up to believe.
(Well, it took a bit, but I finally got the internet back up. XD My phone typing skills are still poor, but, oh well. XD
That's good that it hasn't been stressful. I don't know about where you are, but in the state I live in, the number of cases of the virus is going up again, so I have no idea what that's going to do.)

The woman's green eyes drifted towards the twin who had kicked her earlier. She fought back a smile as she eyed him for a moment. Her gaze snapped back towards Baltor as he calmed his brother. The oldest elf contiuned on, explaining why they couldn't let her go. So they, or at least he and likely by extension Danir, were concerned how other elves would react if her friend started to defend humans. They were concerned for his safety. Edlyn didn't know what was worse. The reasons given by Baltor, or the fact she found herself agreeing with his points. The woman thought everything over for a moment, trying to figure out what to say. Slowly, she nodded.
"I know the stories. At least the accounts penned by my people's scholars. They say the elves grew too powerful and threatened Kaiden. In order to preserve the kingdom and it's people, the elves were forced away before they could start harming innocent people. Of course, that's what they teach us. Fear is a powerful motivator for anyone." She had always questioned these teachings. After all, it had been hundreds of years, wasn't it possible the the elves could change? As she got older, she realized that the accounts were biased. The blacksmith could remember the conversations between her and like-minded children during their youth. She could also remember the scolding they got from their caretakers once they found out about their little conversations.
"It's been over seven-hundred years since that happened," she contiuned. "I can't speak for your people, but there is no human alive who can remeber the events of the The Division. With that said, I'm sure there's few among your people who remember it too." Edlyn paused again. Where was she trying to go with this? Find a way to appeal to the three to get them to change their minds? Eventually the woman sighed.
"So what do you plan on doing? Bring me to your leaders so they can question me? Stash me away from some time as I did with Danir? If this is all to keep him quiet, or at least stop him from saying too much, where does that leave me?" She was almost circling back to where they started, but she wanted answers. If she was supposed to go with them, she needed to know what they planned on doing with her first.
(Yay, that's good! And I think your skills are fine~
That sucks, though hopefully jt. I live in Texas, but I know the amount of cases has risen as well. I recently got a job, which is nice, but it looks like they may be forcing mask wearing in public. The thing is, I work with one to three people at a time and we sit so seprated from each other and are quite far from the customers, I'm not looking forward to that. Hopefully it won't last long.)

Baltore nodded to what she said. "Our own version is a bit different than that, but history lessons are the least of our concerns at the moment," he said, sighing slightly as he tried to puzzle this one out. Of course, they could let her go. Even if she did let it slip that she had cared for an elf, she didn't know where their home was. Many humans had tried to traverse the forest, but it becomes too wild and disorienting to those who are not familiar with it, and dangerous if one is not prepared. But that wasn't the case if it worked the other way around. Even if Danir refused to tell them where Edlyn lived, there were others who would be willing to give the location of where he was last seen by the hunting party. From there, it wouldn't be too hard to track down her home.
He shook his head. "Truthfully? I just don't know," he answered. "It is easy to let you go home. Maybe nothing will happen. Maybe the secret will stay between us." To that, he sent a sharp look of warning to the twins. "But that's a huge risk to take. Hiding you away wouldn't be fair to you. You're not some criminal despite what the others think. And taking you back with us might be a more hassle for you than you care for. Unless... No, that would be too much." He had resorted to muttering to himself the more he talked, as if thinking out loud rather than carrying on a conversation.
"Sure, it might be a risk, but it's one we can monitor, right?" Danir asked. "Edlyn has work that she can't simply abandon. There's a celebration going up, and she's supposed to be making stuff for that. Can't we stay a little longer? Just until this is over?"
To this, Baltor glanced up to him with a slightly raised eyebrow? "'We?'" the elf echoed.
(Lol, thanks.
Ugh, yeah, that doesn't sound like fun, but I'm sure it'll be good. I work in a day care, so there's no chance of social distancing from the kids. We just have to make sure we clean and disinfect everything super good.)

Edlyn acknowledged the man's words with a quiet hum. That wasn't surpsing to hear, of course both nations would have their own accounts of what happened. Baltore moved on to answering her questions. Or at least providing some insight to his thinking, which didn't amount to much. The elves had no idea what they were doing. She had been dragged from her house to the woods and kicked or hit a few times all for nothing, it seemed. Wonderful. Edlyn moved her arms forward to cross them, only to remember with frustration that she was still bound. Her wrists were getting sore, which was yet another reason why she wanted to get it over with.
"If I can't just go home and none of you have any good ideas on what to do from here, then this is all pointless then? This trip, you kidnapping me, this conversation...all of it?" Edlyn sighed and glanced towards Danir. The elf leaned forward and began to speak. He asked a series of questions, even mentioning the ceremonial weapons she had to make for a celebration for the coming fall. The order was already complete, however she didn't dare voice that. If it was a means of escape, she would use it to her advantage. Before she could say anything, Baltore pointed out one word. What did Danir mean by "we"? Edlyn didn't let it distract her, she had other things to worry about.
"He has a point, people will miss me," she pointed out. "As the only blacksmith for a hundred miles in any direction, I'm quite important to the townspeople and whoever lives nearby. Their blacksmith up and disappearing isn't something they would appreciate. In fact, they would be suspicious when they investigate my house and find evidence of a struggle. Sword on the ground, door hastily closed. They aren't stupid, you know." Perhaps she was wrong in revealing some vital information early. Or maybe it was just the push they needed to convince them to let her go. Edlyn couldn't be sure, she would just have to wait and see.
(You're welcome.
Yeah, it starts tomorrow. On the bright side, it'll only be for five hours or so. Anyway, I imagine you guys already scrub down the daycare anyway, right? Doesn't make it any easier, but it's also not anything too crazy or different. But I've also never worked at a daycare so I don't know.)

It had been an unconscious slip when he said "we," but Danir didn't seem to want to correct his statement. He had grown fond in helping the blacksmith with little tasks while she worked. Yeah, she was already finished with the weapons, but a part of him wanted to use the celebration as an excuse to stay with her a little longer. There was even a small spark of unreasonable hope that he might be able to take part in the celebration, even if it was from afar.
"Alright, then there's reason enough to let you go back home. However, why do you want to go?" Baltor asked, his gaze falling on his youngest brother. He already knew the answer to it, just like he also knew that it would be hard to talk reason into his head.
Danir straightened up in his seat. "Because she has been teaching me how to do some work in the forge," he told him. "The supplies needed to be made is a lot of work, too much for one person. So I've been helping her where I can."
"Why not get someone else to help her? Surely there are others she can hire who knows just as much as you do."
"But she doesn't have the time to teach anyone else. Not to mention, I have magic," Danir defended. "My fire magic especially." Of course, he hadn't dared used his magic yet while he was healing, and Edlyn hadn't trusted him near the fire with only one good arm, but he had been studying the fire and how it played its part in the process to see if he couldn't help mimic or enhance it in order to help her work.
(That doesn't sound too bad. And, yeah, we do. It's not too much of a change, but there are some things we're having to do differently. So far, it must be working since no one has gotten sick yet.)

Reason enough?! Why did she need to give them a reason for her to go home? Despite her anger, Edlyn kept her mouth shut. She was free and wasn't about to ruin it by arguing. When the oldest elf questioned Danir, the blacksmith glanced at him. Baltore brought up a good point, why did he want to go back with her? The elf straightened up then answered. Edlyn smiled lightly. He had proven to be quite helpful with her work, though she didn't exactly need it. She managed fine on her own before and if she ever got an apprentice, they were easy and quick to train for the little things. Once again, the woman stayed quiet. She liked having Danir around and enjoyed his company. If he wanted to stay for a few more days, where was the harm in that? The woman glanced at the other three elves, though she focused on the oldest again.
"That's good enough, right? You can untie me and we can all go our seprate ways?" Her voice was even, not betraying any of the relief she felt at the prospect. Edlyn glanced at Danir again, unsure about what to do with him. She wanted him to stay, but also knew, deep down that it was a great risk. The longer he stuck around, the more likely they could get caught. It also seemed unlikely his brothers would just let him go after worrying about him blabbing to the other elves. There was also the matter of how long he had been gone. Search parties would be sent out for him if the elves weren't careful. The last thing she wanted was a contingent of elves showing up at her door to capture or even kill her. Would his brothers stick around to help prevent that? The thought stuck out to her, but she didn't want to dwell on it.
No one answered for a few moments. Without waiting for a reply, Edlyn got to her knees. The thin nightgown didn't offer much protection aganist the sticks and leaves that dug into her skin, but she simply didn't care. She was tired, her body was sore, and she just wanted to go home. The blacksmith glanced at the four beside the fire again. None seemed to stop her, but she wasn't sure about the twins. Their obvious dislike, perhaps even hatred, of her was concerning. However, they kept mostly quiet. Hopefully they would contiune to stay that way.
(That's something goodish at least. And yay for no sickness!)

(Okay, before I reply, I wanted to ask: How do you want this to go? In my mind, I saw Danir staying and helping her until the celebration. He talks her into letting him go with her, under a clever magical disguise, but something happens and the spells fades. He's discovered for being a elf, causing both of them to flee. In turn, Edlyn has to flee her home and Danir talks his brothers into bringing her home with them. Did you have any other ideas for what would happen?
(Lol, it keeps the germs away, so we can't complain. XD)

(That's a great idea. Well, terrible for them, but great. I can see a few things coming from this. One is the townspeople realize Edlyn knows/is friends with/helped Danir and go after her, so she flees. Another idea is some of the townspeople plus Edlyn chase after Danir after the reveal (Edlyn obviously going to make sure he's okay) and for one reason or another goes with him. Maybe she thinks the people know she helped him or perhaos she gets injured and kind of brings it full circle in a way. Also for some extra ~drama~ I was thinking Edlyn could be related to some really important people. One idea was the royal family like her uncle married into the family or something. Nothing set in stone, but it was an idea.
Yay for no germs!)

(I like all of those ideas. XD Okay, so how about this: One of his brothers casts an illusion spell to make Danir look more human (i.e. no pointy ears, rounder features, and maybe shorter hair), however, the spell is only supposed to last a couple of days. Now, he can stay with Edlyn and accompany her into town, saying he is a customer of hers who had traveled from another city for a custom weapon and is staying with her until it's done. This can be how they introduce him during the festival and what not. Well, forgetting the time limit for the spell, it begins to fade while they are at the celebration, and in his efforts to leave/find a way to disguise himself, it's uncovered he is an elf.
From here, one of two things can happen. Either Edlyn stands up and tries to defend him, which in turn causes the people to accuse her of aiding/befriending the elf, or, as you said, follows him just to make sure he's safe. When they reach the woods, they're still being followed, so the twins start shooting arrows and using magic to fight off the mob. In the process, one of them hits Edlyn, either with arrow or magic, you can decide. Not wanting to leave her to the mob, Danir and Baltore carry her with them as they retreat further into the woods.
Meanwhile, back in her town, once everything has settled down and word of what happened reaches her family, they assume that the elf had bewitched her, brainwashed her into doing his biding and that is the reason why she was aiding him and followed him into the forest. Calling upon the uncle, who holds more power in the royal court and family, beg him to get a search party together and find her, as well as teaching the elves a lesson for wandering into their city.
How does that work for a time line?)

(Yeah, I can see that working. They forget the time limit or assume they have more of it and whoops, that's not the case.
As for the different possiblities, I think I like the second more. Maybe she leaves for a second, notices commotion, and susrpise! he turned back into a elf. So he flees just as she sees him or before she does and she follows the group. I do like the idea of the brother's fighting back or maybe another animal attack. Or maybe both, just for the sake of chaos.
Yeah, if she tries to defend them, that would work really well. If we do the attack/follow thing instead, she could also try and help Danir leading some of them wondering how much she knows, especially considering she introduces himas a customer. Anyway, yeah I can see her uncle getting a search party together to track her down. We'll just figure out what happens with them, whether the search party manages to find her with the elves or something.
I think that clears up the timeline.)

(Perfect! ^^ Unless things suddenly change or we think of something else to add, I say this is a good plan of action.)
Baltore stayed silent for a moment, contemplating the situation at hand. The long silence meant he was weighing the options presented more carefully than the twins would have liked. "Don't tell me you're even considering letting them do this? He'll be killed," Helwion said.
"I don't like it either, but you know he won't be swayed from this idea," Baltore replied. He looked between his brother and the woman that they still had tied. He was a little surprised that Danir hadn't freed her. "I will give you until the festival is over, but no longer."
Danir couldn't hide the smile of excitement that those words brought. He nodded quickly. "No longer. I'll leave as soon as it's over, and I'll be home before you know it."
"Oh, I'm sure you will because we'll be camping out here to make sure you do indeed come back."
"What!" the green eyed twin exclaimed. "Why do we have to stay so close to danger just because of his fascination with things he shouldn't be involved with?"
"Because I'm not leaving our baby brother alone," Baltore responded. "I doubt that's what Mother and Father would have wanted us to do, leave him to his own devices with no one to turn to. Leave if you want, but you'll have to cast the altercation spell before you leave."
While they were talking, Danir had finally moved to free Edlyn's hands, his grin never falling. "All's well that ends well," he murmured. "I'm sorry for all this, I really am. They mean well, but they're just a little, well..." he struggled to find the right word to describe his brothers, mainly the twins, and they actions they had displayed this night.

The ruder twin was aganist Danir staying. The other protested, equally aganist the youngest going back with her Although she tried not to let it show, Edlyn couldn't help but smile a little at their annoyance. She didn't like the idea of the others camping around, lurking just beyond the treeline near her home. However, it was almost worth it to see the redhaired elves frustrated. It was what they deserved, especially Helwion, after the way she was treated. As the older three brothers began to bicker amongst themselves, Danir finally got closer to untie her. As her hands got free, he leaned towards her slightly and mumbled an apology. Edlyn smiled lightly.
"No need to apologize, it's not your fault you have uncivilized fools for brothers. Well two of them are at least." It would be pretty clear who she meant. The twins had proven to be nothing but rude and disrespectful since they'd taken her from her home. Uncivilized fools was probably a nice way to describe them. Once her bindings fell to the ground, Edlyn brought her hands forward. She looked down at them and gave a faint smile. They were a little sore and red marks were visible from where the rope had been tight. As she set her hands on her lap, Edlyn glanced up
"Altercation spell?" She whispered to Danir. What did that mean? A spike of fear shot in her chest. Are they going to change my memories?! she thought, panicked. No, that doesn't make sense. If they could do that, or were planning to, they would've done it already and Danir would be going back with them. Edlyn didn't let her concern betray her. Whatever was about to happen would happen.
(Agreed! Also, should we also go ahead and do a timeskip? If so, when do you think?)

Danir gave a sheepish smiles. "Yeah, I really can't say anything to defend them there," he whispered back. "Helwion and Ezella hold the most bitterness after our parents died, but I'll tell you about that later." Instead, he reached out and gently took her hands in his, inspecting the red marks left by the ropes. They weren't too bad, but she didn't deserve to have them. So, with a few muttered words, he cast a small healing spell, one he knew he could manage on his own. In a matter of seconds, the marks were gone.
"Yeah, to change my appearance," the elf answered, releasing her hands. "Helwion's eyes are green like most of us, but he had Ezella alter them so they were blue, matching his name a little better. As well as making it a bit easier for the rest of us to tell them apart. The spell is permanent, but the one I'll be getting won't be."
(Unless you had any filler ideas, I say we can just skip to the celebration once we sum things up here, which should be in the next post or two I believe. )

"I'll tell you about it sometime," the man quietly hummed. Edlyn blinked at him curiously, but said nothing. She didn't have much time to think about it as something else grabbed her attention. Danir had taken her hands in his. She could feel her cheeks grow slightly warm, but forced the down the small blush. With a few words she could barely hear, she could feel the heat of the rope burns fade away. In the firelight, she could see the redness had disappeared altogether. Danir had healed her.
"You didn't have to do that, they weren't that bad," Edlyn whispered. The blacksmith paused for a moment. She sounded ungrateful, causing her to blush slightly once more. Offering up her own soft smile, the woman leaned towards him. "Thank you, though, that was sweet. I appreciate it." Her concern over the "altercation" ebbed away some. It dwindled even more as Danir explained what they meant. Edlyn nodded.
"It would make you look human, right?" She wondered. That was probably the case and it would certinaly make the situation easier for them. She wouldn't have to worry about hiding him if it came to it. Of course, they would have to come up with some cover story to explain who he was and why he was with her, but they could worry about that tomorrow. She glanced at Danir's brothers, wondering when they would take care of the spell and let them leave.
(Sounds good to me!)

Danir
Danir shrugged. "I know, but it's the least I could do after how tonight has gone," the elf replied. "Though, you deserve more than that from how you were treated. I'll try to make it up to you once we're back at your house."
In response to her query on the spell, he nodded. "That'll be the idea," he told her.
"An idea, I'm still whole-heartedly against," Ezella commented. The conversation between them and Baltore had come to a close, ending in the eldest brother winning the argument. There was nothing to do now but go along despite every fiber of his being telling him that this was a terrible idea. "If we're going to do it, let's just get it over with."
Nodding, Danir stood up and walked over to where the others were gathered. The whole process took thirty minutes. First, Baltore took t upon himself to heal Danir's injuries. He wasn't a healer fully, but out of all the siblings, his abilities with healing spells were by far the best. If he was to stay with the human, he wanted to be sure that he could defend himself if he ran into trouble. Once that was done, Ezella stepped forward to begin the altercations. That was what took the longest part. Not only did he have to change details of his face, ears, and even hair, he had to make sure that the time frame of the spell would last him until he left this woman's home. It was tricky, but not impossible.
Once done, Danir turned back to face Edlyn. "Well, how do I look?" he asked. His features had been toned down quiet a bit. His hair appeared shorted, stopping just below his ears. His ears were the same rounded shape as Edlyn's, and his face was delicate in features. They were subtle changes, but ones that made sure he looked more human than elf.

The woman lightly smiled and nodded, curious at what he planned to do. She pushed the thought away as Danir answered her. That made sense. He would blend in easily with everyone else and no one would suspect an elf among them as long as the spell remained. Edlyn's attention turned to one of the twins, Ezella, as he grumbled aganist the idea. It seemed Baltore had won the argument between them. Edlyn held back a smirk, though enjoyed seeing the man annoyed. He gestered for his brother to join him before working on him. First, the oldest elf performed some healing spells. It didn't take long. Ezella then took over changing the elf to look human.
As she waited, the woman sat quietly. One side faced the warm fire, the other was exposed to the cool, dark forest. For the remainder of the time, she let her eyes wander between the darkness around, the elves, and Danir. After half an hour passed, some shuffling and a few mumbles indicated they were done. Danir faced the blacksmith with a friendly smile.
"Well, how do I look?" He asked. The elf was different. His features were smoother and hair was shorter. His long limbs also seemed to have shortened and thickened out slightly. Edlyn wanted to reach out and see if the altercation was physical or more like an illusion. However she didn't. Her curiosity would be saved for later. The blacksmith offered a smile.
"Like a human and less pointy." The woman stood up and dusted off her nightgown best she could. Mud and leaves stuck to her feet and she was a little cold, but Edlyn didn't let her sour her mood. She would finally be going home.
