“We’ll figure something out.” Roman told her reassuringly, “if worst comes to worst I’ll go down there myself if I have to.” He said., “everything will be just fine I’m sure.” He nudged her a little in encouragement.
“Oh yeah, there are plenty of spots that are much better than what you’ve experienced. Maybe instead of going to a low end party I can see about getting into a more high class gathering.” He suggested. He would really do anything to make his friends happy.

Alma smiled at Roman. "Hopefully there'll be some sort of break in the situation soon, that one little push to toss those rats in the dungeon." She practically purred in satisfaction of the thought. "But yes, we'll need to oversee a little meeting with whoever we decide to send out."
Nim sighed. "I suppose that would be good, but then I'd be more likely to talk to people." He was actually quite a sweetheart, yet he preferred not to talk with too many people. His whiskers twitched. "You'll have to stay with me so you can shoo everyone away from me." His eyes seemed to glint with amusement before laying his head on his paws.

Roman nodded thoughtfully as she spoke, “just name a date and I will be there.” He said. He then sighed, “so, anything else happen today?” He asked, he hoped something good. He hated seeing his wife stressed.
Dakota laughed, “I’ll be your personal body guard.” He joked. He was just excited at the fact that Nim was going along with this. “I wonder if the other would like to come too.” He wondered aloud.

Alma hummed. "Well, I had gone to the meeting between the Landars and the Waterways. Just as I suspected, it was a rogue bear that killed Ilum Waterway, poor thing." Old age would've caught the elder otter if that bear hadn't though. "So now the Waterways are probably trying to appease the Landars with gifts."
Nim shrugged. "I'm sure Uma would love to." He didn't even mention Olgrin, that old thorn having not been in their good graces for many lifetimes. You tended to avoid people who wanted to enslave an entire world.

“We should stay out of it. For now at least. We can’t risk taking sides against two houses who are both much stronger than us.. but that’s just my opinion. What are your thoughts?” He asked while looking to Alma with a thoughtful and gentle gaze.
Dakota looked saddened for a moment, “oh, right. I forgot. Well, I’ll see what Uma thinks when I see her again.” He then looked around, “speaking of, where is she? I haven’t seen her in a day or two.”

Alma nodded in agreement. "Exactly what I was thinking. The other houses had just shown up to see for themselves really. No sides taken. Watching from the sidelines more or less. To take sides wouldn't do Sunfyre much good, whether we're the ruling house or not." One of the other families could always just challenge them after all.
Nim shrugged again, scratching his side with a hindleg. "I'm not too sure. I haven't left here in a few days, and I haven't seen her around." Perhaps she had business in the mortal realm, whatever it was. Yawning again, fangs glinting, he said "I'm sure Uma will turn up at some point just like the rest of us. We always do."

Roman nodded, “good. I’m glad we agree then.” He then got an idea, “hey, since I postponed my duties till after dinner, how would you like to go on a ride with me? Just like old times?” Roman had taken Alma many times through the kingdom and out of the kingdom on horseback back when he was still courting her.
Dakota nodded before turning back into an eagle, he then prompt began to preen his wings. “So, is there any news from the mortal realm that I haven’t found out about yet? As far as I know everything is relatively alright.”

Alma perked up at the suggestion. "Sure," she said with a grin. "We haven't been in a while." She quite enjoyed those little trips honestly, horses carrying them across the kingdom and away from prying eyes sometimes when they had freetime on their hands. And she just liked horses in general. They were quite nice folk actually, hardy and strong.
Nim shrugged his large shoulders. "Bryghtwood itself is doing relatively okay, though there's more activity far west of the kingdom's borders. I believe it's Olgrin, probably still sulking after all this time." Part of him missed their stoic friend, but what he stood for was something he just couldn't be around for. "There was also another dragon born to that western clan, well, west of Bryghtwood, up in those mountains that look like a fist. A dragon hasn't been born in a few hundred years, so I was thinking of going to congratulate them." Dragons were very picky on when to have babies, some never finding the "perfect" time at all.

“Let’s go then.” Roman said before leading her in the direction of where the stables were. He moved quickly as to not welcome anyone to approach them at the moment. Once at the stables he stopped, going to his own horse to greet him gently.
Dakota shifted his weight slowly from talon to talon as he listened to Nim. He then fluffed up his feathers in agreement as he said, “we should. It is a big occasion. Plus it’s been a while since I’ve seen a dragon hatchling.”

Alma went up to her own horse, a large brown mare with a darker mane. After greeting the larger creature, and getting a saddle on, she was ready to go rather quickly. Eager to get going. "Ooh, I'm already so excited," she admitted sheepishly. "I've always loved going riding." Though Roman already knew that from the countless other times they'd gone.
Nim nodded once. "If only we knew where Uma was. We could invite her along as well." He was sure she was up to her own business though, and simply saw no need to go pull her from whatever she was possibly doing. "We can go whenever you wish." As it seemed neither of them had anything else to do seemingly.

(No worries. I took longer with this reply anyway.)
Astra nodded and shot Selva a smile. It was a good plan and it would make things easier on the both of them. "That's fair I suppose," the ranger agreed. "If it's something uncommon and atypical, people will want it more. And as someone who's been starving before, I can second that." It was true. Part of the reason for her dislike towards predator meat was because she had it before to survive. It wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't something she enjoyed.
Astra glanced back at Selva and nodded. "It's safe to leave before the sun sets. If you don't know the woods, it can be extremely dangerous. Anyway go ahead, I can check out whatever you have left later. As I said it's better to be in city walls when the sun sets."

His horse was a quite large almost all white stallion with light dapple grey patches throughout its body. It’s mane was neatly trimmed and braided. Roman dug his heels into the horse’s ribs gently to signal it to go forward towards where Alma was, “Should we just ride around town or go beyond?” He asked. Dakota looked just plain excited now, “if i go find her can we go now?” He asked, flapping his wings a little. “Knowing her she’s probably just floating around in some lake doing nothing.” He joked, he then gave an amused look to Nim as he said, “almost just like what you’ve been doing.”

Amber(Sorry for short post since they parted ways xD) Selva nodded. "Alright, I best get going then." She honestly was alright being out after dark though, having done so to travel or when she ended up having to stop somewhere on her journey to rest Fitz. "I'll see you around." She then turned to head off, back toward where her horse and cart were. Thankfully, no one had taken either. Chuckling, she said "Come on, Fitz, let's get going. We should still be able to make some sales." Getting stop the seat in the cart, she lightly flicked the reins before her companion got going to their original destination. That had been enough action for today, with that while wampus ordeal.

forestpawAlma hummed. "Beyond. I know people likely won't bother us or anything but I don't want to risk it. If that's alright with you." She just wanted to have some alone time with her husband, even if it was just a simple horse ride. Not that she wasn't excited, their current little plan making her smile. Nim nodded once. "Yes, let's go." He then stared at Dakota's second comment. "I'm taking a break from rearranging my library. You know, with the books you and Uma never bother to read but probably should."

Roman nodded, “lead the way.” He said as he gestured towards the outside. As they began walking, he sped up just a little to trot along side his wife, “Its been quite some time since we just went riding for fun. Brings me back.” He said with a warm smile.
“Why read when you can be learning the same things in real life.” He said, “I’ve never found the need to read your books and look at me now.” He then sighed, giving Nim a soft gaze, “but maybe if you lend me a few I’ll give them a look.” He then took off, landing on a low branch, “can you call for Uma?”

Alma smiled a little. "Well, we had a lot more freetime before you became king. Not that I'd change anything now." She grinned before looking ahead again. "I remember it though, when we had more chances to just be away from prying eyes, not have to worry about the duties we have now."
Nim chuckled. "My library has more than you know, being added to every day. You would know almost thrice what you do if you read." He then sniffed at the suggestion to lend him some. "I'll hold you to that. Next time you aren't busy."

“Still. When I married you I was finally able to finish my duties and become king, so I wouldn’t change anything for the world. As long as I get to see you I’m happy.” Roman said with a small smile. He really did love Alma. More than anything else in the world.
“Alright, nerd.” Dakota teased with a small laugh. This side of him was a lot different from what the mortals saw. He only acted this way towards those he was close with, mainly just being the other Guides. “But seriously I will. Now, are we ready to go or what?”

Alma smiled. "Such a sweetheart, making me feel so special." Whether Roman was a royal or not, she believed she would've fallen in love regardless. "Lucky me for snatching you up before anyone else did!" Because it surely would have happened, especially since Roman had been a prince at the time.
Nim snorted before standing up. He then proceeded to roar, so powerful that the trees shook around them at the summon for their third friend. Closing his jaws, an ear twitched as he regained his calm features as he then proceeded to wait. He doubted Uma would pass up the opportunity to see a baby dragon.

“I’m glad you picked me too, because it would have been really embarrassing to have gone through all this courting I did just to have you say no.” He joked, laughing lightheartedly. “I’m surprised you even put up with me for this long.” Roman certainly wasn’t the most perfect king ever, and it was worse when he was a prince. He was definitely a helpless romantic too.
After a short while a beautiful swan appeared above the trees. She swooped down before landing gracefully, “what is it now? Hopefully you two haven’t destroyed the forest while I’ve been gone.” She mainly looked to Dakota though, knowing Nim wasn’t likely to do so.

Alma laughed in genuine amusement. "Well, you certainly made it hard for me to say no. You've always been quite the charmer." She could tell he'd probably chased after quite a few women before they courted, but that was before. She knew he'd never do as such now. "I "put up" with you because you're still a great man despite not being perfect. Same goes for me. You still manage to put up with me despite my flaws."
Nim's whiskers twitched. "Dakota was too busy telling me about how my library is basically obsolete." His eyes sparkled slightly with amusement though before he continued "We wanted to see if you'd like to accompany us. We are heading to the dragon clan in the west to see a hatchling and congratulate the parents."

Roman smiled fondly at her, “you are very right. As always.” He said. He then pulled his horse’s reigns, pausing a minuet as the gates opened to the entrance of their kingdom. After the gates were open he looked to Alma with a challenging look. He then cracked his reigns and dug his heals into the side’s of his stallion, making him take offs
Uma sighed, “I don’t see why not. It has been quite some time since I’ve seen a baby dragon.” She said, her voice fond, but her face remained serious. “When shall we be going?”

Alma watched, blinking once as Roman took off on his stallion. She looked down at her mare, who looked back at her with a slight snort. The smaller of the two snickered before cracking the reins lightly, digging her heels briefly to signal they were to of course follow. The brown mare took off after the stallion to pick up the race challenge.
Nim nodded once, saying "Right now." Instead of some big, flashy means of entrance, the white tiger didn't even bat an eye and they were all suddenly there. Up within the mountain range, which did indeed look like a fist if seen from afar. There was vegetation, with trees and bushes and soft grass. And up ahead was a sort of valley, where various nests and caves were seen throughout, with a huge cave toward the end of the valley not yet seen.

Roman glanced back in Alma’s direction before laughing and cracking the reigns again, making the stallion go faster. He loved his wife, but he was determined to win, so he wouldn’t go easy on her.
Dakota looked a little surprised by the change, but Uma looked unfazed as always. Dakota composed himself before taking off above them. Uma just fluttered up to land on Nim’s back. She preferred not having to do the hard work, but would do so if asked to move.

Alma rolled her eyes playfully as Roman glanced back at her. She knew him to be competitive, so this little race wasn't going to be easy per say. Wouldn't stop her from trying though, having her mare go faster with another flick of the reins. The brown creature sped up in attempt to regain ground between the other pair.
Nim didn't even look back at Uma, but an ear did twitch in acknowledgement. He then proceeded to lead the way. As they descended into the valley, they were immediately noticed. Some dragons looked their way, all colors and features, though one thing they had in common were bulky figures and two sets of wings. Unlike the eastern clan, which had long winding bodies and no wings at all due to using levitation to fly.

Despite Roman’s stallion being larger, with longer legs, the both of them together was a pretty heavy weight to go fast with. Despite being trained to go fast despite the weight, Roman and his horse were at a slight disadvantage. That was why he got the head start, but he did notice Alma was gaining on him.
Uma nestled onto Nim’s back at the acceptance, hiding her feet under her feathery body. She looked around at all the dragons calmly. Dakota from up above let out a screech in a humble greeting.

Alma felt a little satisfaction as her mare slowly began gaining on the two ahead. Sure, her horse was smaller but that meant she had a little speed on her side, even with Roman's horse being larger and having longer legs. Snickering a little, she encouraged her larger friend, the mare doing her best to catch up at least.
The dragons closer to them rumbled in greeting, even bowing their heads a little. The oldest dragons knew the trio more though. The young ones looked confused as to why their larger elder would bow to some funny cat and two small birds.

Roman raised an eyebrow as Alma began gaining on them more. “Every time!” He called out teasingly. But still, he wouldn’t push his horse too hard. He would hate to have him fall or worse. The good thing about his stallion though was he packed a punch in battle, and could run for long distances.
Uma maintained her regal position as Nim walked. She then focused ahead of her as they walked through the crowd. Dakota comfortably glided, sometimes gliding higher and other times swooping down lower to the ground as he tried to take everything in.

Alma laughed in amusement. Her mare, named Oak, huffed at her friend. Alma knew Oak was a very determined mare who like to win, no matter what the challenge was. Sometimes she had to call it quits to Oak wouldn't give out at a moment. They hadn't gotten to that point in a long time though. "Come on, Oak," she said encouragingly. "Let's beat them for once!" Even though they lost their little races more often than not.
One of the young dragons walked right up to then and asked "What are you doing here?" Nim just stared as the big dragon stood in their way, looking down at them triumphantly. He didn't look over four hundred, which was still very young for a dragon.
