This is where all the plot-related stuff for StormClan is going to go! If anybody has any requests or ideas for minor plots or anything that could be added onto the main plot, please post it here.
So far, the main plot is focused around the appearance of strange scents in StormClan territory and the appearance of mountain predators such as eagles and wolves, and Sunstar's leadership. Sunstar has only been the leader of StormClan for 3 moons and is still grieving the loss of Flightstar, who had been like a mother to him. He is unsure of why Flightstar chose him as her deputy when there were so many other candidates who - in his eyes - would have been much better suited to the role of deputy. He is terrified of failing his Clan, and is still adjusting to his new life as StormClan's leader; he has become jittery and nervous and spends a lot of time in his den or talking with the Clan's medicine cats, which has not gone unnoticed by the warriors. When Sunstar makes a series of reckless, foolish decisions regarding the predators who are venturing into StormClan territory, it raises many questions among the older warriors who served under Flightstar regarding Sunstar's position as leader, as they are starting to become convinced that he is not the right cat for the job. StormClan is an incredibly religious Clan who hold StarClan in very high regard, so the Clan is unwilling to defy StarClan and openly rebel against their leader, but Sunstar's authority over his warriors is dwindling as they begin to question his every move. Some cats - especially those who were close to Sunstar during his days as a warrior and an apprentice - are in full support of their new leader, but in comparison to the numbers of those who doubt him they seem like only a small handful.
PLOT PROGRESSION SUMMARY
PRE-ROLEPLAY
- Flightstar dies, leaving Sunpounce to take her place as leader.
- Sunpounce becomes Sunstar in a rushed ceremony, but spends the first few moons of his leadership tucked away in the confines of his den, away from his Clan so he can mourn Flightstar's passing.
CURRENT
- four moons after Flightstar's passing, Sunstar is finally beginning to take his place as StormClan's leader and begins to socialise and interact with the Clan under the encouragement of Streamheart.
- Quailfang and Silverstrike discover strange scents in the territory while out on patrol and send a messenger to this to Thistleshade, who informs Sunstar. Sunstar grows incredibly panicked by this, still very much unnerved and uncertain of himself, and decides he will lead a patrol as soon as possible to track down the strange scent and deal with the problem. He attempts to take his mind off his worries by mingling more with the Clan, most notably Redwing's kits and Mossfoot.
- Quailfang and Silverstrike then come across two young strangers at StormClan's border named Hornet and Bee. They wish to pass through StormClan territory in order to journey to the mountain. Quailfang and Silverstrike return the pair to camp to hear Sunstar's verdict.
- Sunstar denies Hornet and Bee passage through the territory and informs them that going to the mountain alone would be suicide. Quailfang and Tallwhisker suggest that the strangers be allowed to stay with the Clan and be trained to help with the problem. Sunstar agrees, much to the shock and even outrage of many.
- Windstep, Tallwhisker and Thrushfur immediately take to the newcomers and show them around the camp. After speaking with Streamheart, Sunstar calls the Clan together and announces that Hornet and Bee will become members of StormClan. He gives them their apprentice names, Hornetpaw and Beepaw, and assigns Silverstrike and Windstep (respectively) as their mentors.
- Redwing, following a display of extreme hostility towards Hornetpaw and Beepaw, publicly announces her opposition to Sunstar's decision, but is quickly silenced. However, it is clear that many cats do not agree with Sunstar and are not very keen on the new apprentices, as Sunstar's decision to invite outsiders into the Clan so soon after Cedarheart's betrayal and exile, and the attack of his rogue group on the camp, does not settle well with a large portion of the Clan.
- Sunstar remembers the patrol and announces who he will take with him. He decides to take Streamheart, Rushfall, Owlswoop, Silverstrike and Quailfang, as well as Thistleshade. He assigns Brighteyes, Thrushfur, Breezebounce, Willownose and Mossfoot to defend the camp, and informs the Clan that nobody is to travel alone until the threat is dealt with.
- Reedfoot confronts Sunstar on his foolish decision to take his deputy on the patrol, and Sunstar relents after a brief argument, agreeing that Thistleshade should remain in camp and focus on reinforcing the camp wall with the warriors he'd asked to remain behind, and the apprentice whose mentors would be on the patrol. He asks Thistleshade to select a replacement, and she suggests Badgertuft and Nightclaw; Sunstar decides to have both of the warriors join the patrol and Thistleshade explains the situation to them.
- Windstep and Silverstrike take Hornetpaw and Beepaw on a tour of the territory, and to see the Stormfalls and the Starlake. Hornetpaw and Beepaw learn more about StarClan and about Clan life.
- Reedfoot decides that she will grant Winterpaw his full name at the half-moon after next.
- Sunstar confides his worries in Mossfoot, who consoles him as they reminisce. Streamheart and Swiftstrike get into an argument about Streamheart's safety, and Streamheart storms from the elders' den, leaving Swiftstrike to accept defeat.
- Owlswoop, Breezebounce and Rushfall discuss the patrol, and the possibility of tracking down a sharptooth. The three express their concerns about Sunstar's recent decisions, although Owlswoop and Rushfall greatly anticipate the task of hunting down the mystery predator. They discuss fighting techniques and the danger of encountering a sharptooth, hinting at the very real possibility that not everybody is guaranteed to return.
- Swiftstrike and Streamheart reconcile. Streamheart leaves her apprentice Plumpaw in Swiftstrike's care while she is with Sunstar's patrol.
- the patrol leaves the next morning.
- Breezebounce sneaks out of camp with Deerfeather to go hunting despite being told to remain in camp.
- after figuring out that the strange scent belongs to a sharptooth, Sunstar and Quailfang agree to split the patrol in two to surprise it. Sunstar leads the first attack with Quailfang, Nightclaw and Rushfall while the rest of the patrol wait for his order to attack.
- meanwhile, while out on patrol, Beepaw and Tallwhisker grow closer.
- Hornetpaw has another encounter with Redwing, but this time the queen is much less aggressive towards her. Scorchkit is upset by his mother's undisguised dislike of Hornetpaw and Beepaw.
- Thymesprout encounters a strange cat in the territory while gathering herbs; the cat introduces herself as Jayflight, a warrior from a Clan far away that has long since faded into history. After helping Thymesprout, Jayflight accompanies her back to camp where she begins to meet the rest of the Clan. She is unsure whether or not she will be allowed to stay.
- Reedfoot and Thymesprout leave for the starlake.
- the patrol finds the sharptooth and attacks it. Nightclaw and Quailfang are gravely wounded, and Sunstar loses his first life. After being forced to call a retreat, Sunstar leads the sharptooth towards the river after ordering the others to return to camp and tricks it into falling in; he collapses in exhaustion and is found by Badgertuft who carries him back to camp. Ravenwing, Foxbite, Pansyface and Rumblefoot accompanied by Jayflight find the rest of the patrol and help treat their wounds. Streamheart is carried to the medicine den.
