Parker tensed up at this, flashing Aisling a deadly glare. "Don't you dare compare me to those beasts!" he snapped, fingers digging into his folded arm. "I've been doing just fine on my own! I don't need help, from you or anybody else! If that makes me cold, then fine, but never say that I'm anything like those animals."
"Hey, no need to fight," Luke stepped in, feeling slightly panicked at the heightened sense of hostility. The two had seemed like friends before, but now they were suddenly at each others' throats. "It was... just a suggestion. You don't have to come if you don't want to." He glanced at Aisling, his expression faltering. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cause trouble."

Aisling clenched her hands into tight fists and ground her teeth together. "I never take calling anyone a monster like that lightly just so you know. If you would rather live without the protection of others like us then you are unwise my friend." She spoke in a creepy calm voice as she laid her wings flat against her back again, turning away from Parker. She then looked to Luke with a softer expression. "Let's go. If he wants to be alone he can be alone."

Parker looked away, falling quiet at her words. Was she right? Was it bad for him to want to keep moving in order to protect himself? He'd never had a permanent home, or friends to fall back on. Shaking his head, he made no move to stop the two, his stubbornness ruling out. Once they'd disappeared from sight, he sat down on the ground and groaned into his hands. He'd thought Aisling would understand. He'd thought that maybe he was finally making a friend, but apparently he was just a monster to her now. You brought this upon yourself, his brain supplied unhelpfully. You could have gone with her, you have no reason not to. "Shut up," he grumbled to himself. What a pain.
Luke reluctantly left Parker behind, coming up to walk beside Aisling. "Is he always like that?" he asked tentatively, curious but not wanting to stoke the flames, so to speak.

Aisling sighed softly and watched the ground as they walked. "I'm not sure. I only met him today, so this could be how he is. I am sorry for the way I reacted, but when someone is stubborn about accepting help I get a bit... defensive. Accepting help from another is what saved my life years ago when I first escaped the School and their monsters." She looked up at Luke briefly. "I hope he will be safe though."

"I hope so. I can always try to find him again in town." Aisling kicked a small rock over to a nearby tree with a sigh. She had no idea if Parker would come around at all.

Ducky padded out of the kitchen, he had made himself and Sunny a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He didn't know if she was going to eat it but at least it was there when she did get hungry. Ducky placed the plated sandwich on the coffee for Sunny. "I will be outside if you need me." With that Ducky headed out of the cabin and flopped down at the base of a tree. He wondered where every one was.

Luke placed a hand on Aisling's shoulder, a quiet form of comfort he used often with his own sister. Mira was physically distant from him, despite being siblings, and often shied away from physical contact, so this was one of the ways he could comfort her without being overbearing. "He'll come around," he said, though he had no evidence to say that he really would. As he spoke, the cabin came into view, sitting amongst a small clearing of trees. "Well, here we are. Mira's not around right now, but she should be back soon. In the meantime, maybe I can introduce you to the others?" he offered, casting her a glance to see what she thought.
Parker spent quite a few minutes just sitting on the ground, leaning against the trunk of a tree and not really moving. Based on his words to Aisling, he should be partway to the next town by now, yet he couldn't bring himself to leave just yet. He groaned in frustration, scrubbing at his face with the palms of his hands as though that would clear his foggy mind. "Stupid!" he cursed st no one in particular, slapping his hands against the ground and standing back up. This was so stupid, why was he still here? He didn't believe in making friends, didn't believe in settling down for more than a few weeks at a time, because he knew the chances of getting caught were so much higher if he stopped moving, and yet he still found himself wanting to follow Aisling and Luke's path. Why was this so difficult!?

Ailsing tensed up for a second not used to the physical contact, but managed to relax her tense shoulders a bit and offer a nod to Luke. "Sure. I would like to meet the others. How many are here?" She asked genuinely curious now and all traces of anger gone.

Ducky munched on his sandwich quietly, he really wished he could have done more for Sunny but Mira could do much better in a situation like this. He just hoped Mira would get home soon. Voices suddenly caught Duckys attention. It was Luke and someone else someone with a thick accent of some sort. Ducky looked over to the two blurry shapes heading towards the cabin.

Luke thought for a moment, mentally counting on his fingers how many birdkids had crammed themselves into the cabin. "Well, there's me and Mira, Ducky, Sunny, Jib, and Nova, so that makes... six of us, so far," he replied. "We all live together, and take care of each other. Mira's like our leader, I guess. We all look to her to make important decisions for us." He paused as he caught movement out of the corner of his eye, turning to see the girl herself returning from town with her coat wrapped around her wings. "Ah, there she is now. Hey, Mira!" Luke cupped his hands around his mouth as he called, waving to her cheerfully.
Mira looked quite confused to hear Luke calling her name, making her way over with her arms folded cautiously across her chest. "What's going on?" she asked, not even bothering with a hello at this point. Her eyes darted to Aisling, a suspicious tint in them though she didn't outright challenge why she was here. "You're not getting into trouble, are you?"
Luke grinned in response to Mira's serious ribbing. "Me? Get in trouble? I would never," he replied in the most innocent voice he could conjure.

Aisling gave a polite dip of her head to Mira as she walked over. She then looked to Luke with a brow raised. "You get in trouble with her? Oh boy..." She smiled a little as she looked back to Mira. "I'm Aisling. Luke was just telling me about you and the others at the cabin."

Luke leaned in a little closer to Aisling, as though telling her a secret. "Mira's a stingy one, it's not very hard to get in trouble with her," he replied in a quiet voice, earning himself a berating glare from his sister.
Mira sighed in a long-suffering manner at Luke's antics, shaking her head. "He told you about us? Then, you're..."
"She's a hybrid like us. Guess I should've explained, but I thought it was obvious," Luke butted in. "I found her at the lakefront, with a friend. He, uh, wasn't as eager to come along, though."

Ducky had always been a tad bit curious and as the three chatted among each other Ducky snuck closer to lisen in on the conversation. Ducky really didn't have to get that close to make out what the three where saying but it was fun sneaking up in them.

"If possible I'd like to meet the others. And I would be the same way if I was in her place." Aisling looked at the ground for a quick second, remembering how she acted when she first got out of the Schools. "I hope my friend comes around to meeting the others. There is always safety in numbers."

Ducky ducked out and away from the conversation, he quietly snuck back into the cabin. He liked this mission impossible stuff it really kept the boredom away. Ducky tuned his attention to Sunny. "Mira and Luke are back with a new hybrid."
Jib sat on the cabin roofs, her wings tucked neatly on her back. Jib had watched the whole thing with Ducky from the roof and that kind of entertained her. But it seemed there was somebody new joining the cabin.

Sunny looked up as Ducky reentered the room. She'd nibbled on the sandwich he'd left for her, though half of it was still sitting on her plate. "Really?" she asked, curiosity and a hint of nervousness in her gaze. On one hand, it was always exciting to learn that there were more hybrids out there somewhere, but on the other hand, meeting new people was always a bit of a stressful occassion for Sunny. Still, she was willing to give it a shot.
Mira offered Aisling a small smile in response to her desires to want to meet everyone, nodding. "Sure, I bet they'll be pleased to see another birdkid," she agreed, leading the way toward the cabin. She ducked her head inside, glancing around and spotting Ducky and Sunny inside. "Ah, you guys are here, perfect," she said with a smile. "There's someone here who wanted to meet you." She motioned for Aisling to follow her inside, plopping herself down on the couch.
Luke hung back, glancing around in search of Jib. Perhaps she was in her room? As he looked up at the roof, though, he spotted the newest Flock member perched ont op of the cabin. He grinned up at her, waving. "Hey, you should come hang out too!" he called, figuring he'd put the invitation out there before heading into the cabin himself and taking a seat beside Mira.

Aisling followed Mira inside the cozy cabin. She smiled and waved at the others that were there in the room. "Hi. Wow there are so many in one little cabin. So cozy here." She looked around in awe, then turned back to the others. "Oh, I should probably introduce myself. I am Aisling."

Sunny tensed instinctively as Aisling entered the house, always a bit nervous around new people, but she forced herself to calm down somewhat she stood up on her bare feet. Mira would want her to at least try to make friends. She cautiously approached the new face, peering up at Aisling with baby blue eyes. "Um, h-hello. I'm Sunny," she said softly, holding out her hand politely. "I-It's nice to meet you."
"Yeah, it's kinda cramped, but what're you gonna do?" Luke replied with a shrug, crossing his legs at the knee and spreading his arms out across the back of the couch. "We've only got two bedrooms, but that's better than one, right?"

"Like I said before, it is cozy." Aisling took Sunny's hand gently and gave it a small shake. "No need to worry hun. Meeting new people is scary, but I am not going to hurt you." She whispered to her, her accent making it sound like a lullaby in a way. She looked back to Luke. "I'm surprised you guys managed to get a couch in here." She joked.

Sunny offered a small smile in return. Logically she knew this was true, but she couldn't really help it aside from just pushing through it. As soon as her own introduction was through the turned and retreated to the couch, settling herseld on Mira's other side for now but looking generally uncomfortable still. She'd have to wait a bit before she could tell Mira about her encounter with Danny, it seemed.
Luke laughed at Aisling's comment about the couch. "Yeah, it just barely fits in here. It was actually here when we moved in, guess whoever used to live here just kind of abandoned it along with the rest of the place. There's some bunk beds left behind in the bedrooms, too, but they're... volatile." The first time he'd slept in one of them, the bottoms had nearly fallen out of it and taken him with it. Now the boys' room had only three working beds in it, while the girls made do with a single queen bed shoved into a corner where they could spread out across it and the floor. "I think whoever used to live here didn't really care for the furniture, 'cause they didn't even take the coffee table with them."

"Wow. At least you have furniture which is nice." Aisling leaned against a wall, her arms folded over her chest in a relaxed way. "I'm glad the owners haven't returned to this place. You lot would be out of a home if they showed up again." She glanced over to Sunny for a second, noticing her comfortableness.

"Hah, I guess it is kind of nice," Luke replied, kicking his feet up on top of the coffee table. He shot Mira a snide look as he did, as though he knew she wouldn't approve.
Mira simply sighed. "Get your feet off the table, we're not savages," she scolded, and with another laugh, her brother complied. "Yeah, there's no way of telling why they never camp back. This place was already long abandoned by the time we got here and fixed it up. Well, kind of." It was still in sorry shape, but it was at least somewhat clean.
Sunny cast occassional curious glances at Aisling as she sat, though she didn't speak anymore, having gone quite silent since Aisling showed up. Aside from an occassional nervous fidget, she seemed okay with the other girl's presence, it not completely comfortable with it.
After fifteen or so minutes of sitting, pacing, or just silently arguing with himself, Parker had finally had enough of his dallying. You're an adult man, not a moody teenager, he chided himself, shoving his hands deep into the pockets of his hoodie as he turned resolutely in the direction he'd seen Luke and Aisling go in. He wasn't sure exactly why he was having such a hard time just moving on to the next town like he'd planned; after all, Aisling wasn't the first person he'd had a kind of good startup with. Maybe it was because she was the first hybrid he'd ever met outside the School. Maybe he was just sick of leaving everything behind every time he moved. Regardless, he found himself taking a brisk pace toward the cabin.

(Sorry about that spoof!)
Ducky had wondered if for a second but returned with s small pile of sandwiches, one for everyone even Jib who still had stayed put where she was on the cabin roof but she was thinking of coming down. Ducky placed the plate of sandwiches on the coffee table. "I made everyone sandwiches." Ducky was really good at making sandwiches for some reason. Ducky turned his attention to Aisling. "I'm Ducky!" She said softly.
Jib sat quietly atop the cabins roof. She was mentally arguing about whether she should go in when movement caught her attention. There was a hybrid heading towards the cabin. Jib watched the hybrid curiously unsure of what to do.

Aisling smiled as Ducky set the plate down. "Maybe they couldn't come back here for some reason?" She threw the thought at Luke, chuckling a bit as he was told to move his feet. "Thanks for the sandwiches Ducky." She turned her attention to the plate of food. "What kind are these?"

(Oof sorry for being so spacey lately, I've been really inconsistent with my posts but I'm gonna try to get all my replies out now for all my bookmarks.)
Luke simply shrugged in response. "No idea. If they didn't take the furniture with them, though, they must not have cared much for it," he replied. "They probably didn't even want it, it's all pretty trashy anyway." The couch had holes in the upholstery and the cabinets were covered in dents and scratches from use, but he wasn't about to complain.
Parker halted at the edges of the trees, glancing around restlessly. This was so dumb, why was he so nervous all of a sudden? He hadn't felt nervous seeing Aisling for the first time, so surely meeting other birdkids would be fine as well. He paused as he caught movement on the roof, freezing when he spotted Jib watching him. Well, no turning back now. He started to cautiously make his way toward the cabin. "Uh, are you one of the people who live here?" he asked rather awkwardly, unsure how to approach this.
