Dude I can totally understand why that would set off your alarm bells, and if I had gotten to that episode then it would have definitely annoyed me to the point of dropping it. Transphobia is not really something to be joking about with the way things are right now, and unfortunately you and I both know how Japan feels about LGBT+ in general already. It's just not cool.
I did a little bit of research about the episode myself, just to see. If other people still want to watch the show despite that particular gag then I wouldn't be mad at them for it, especially since it was just one sketch. But it's also completely understandable to drop it if that type of humor rubs you the wrong way (because again, transphobia and sexism aren't cool and should not be considered normal. And on another note seriously, I wish people would stop using the term "trap" just, please don't).
But yeah, I don't think you're making a mountain out of a molehill here. The sketch is just...bad, and it's perfectly reasonable to find it offensive. And thanks for warning me about it in advance. At least dropping it will give us more time to actually catch up with the fall season lol. |

Right! That one sketch might not deter people from the show and I understand, it's just,,,not my cup of tea.
And yes, getting Asobi Asobase off my list means FULL STEAM AHEAD INTO THE FALL SEASON. FINALLY. In other news, I checked out the first episode of both That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime (I need a shortened version of that title) and SSSS.Gridman - Both were good, to varying degrees! Slime had a pretty good first episode, it was funny (and oddly enough, I was super sad even though I knew it was gonna happen???) and I just really enjoyed it and I want m o a r. Gridman's first episode was decent, though I have to say it's clearly inferior to Planet With. The characters so far are somewhat endearing, and the fight scene was neat, but the production values were kinda meh for most of the episode and the characters' reactions to stuff were like, weirdly apathetic. I'd say it's probably worth watching at least one more episode before I make a judgement call as a whole. |

I've been wondering if I should watch both of those! Slime seems like it has good animation and Gridman also looked nice but I'm not really into mecha anime (Planet With was an exception) though idk, maybe I should give it a shot anyways. Let me know if it gets better!

So I tried to come up with a top 10 list of anime in 2018 (minus the Fall season since I've barely started on it)
...and I only came up with 6 to actually put on it ;/
In no particular order:
After the Rain
Golden Kamuy
Megalo Box
Planet With
Revue Starlight
School Babysitters
I can't count MHA season 3 since I haven't gotten that far, and I can't count Ace Attorney season 2 for the same reason. I am excited for Slime, Honda-san, Run With the Wind, Tsurune, and Bloom Into You. And I'm interested in checking out Boarding School Juliet, Irozuku, Karakuri Circus, Bunny-girl Senpai, and Zombieland Saga.
I can't imagine yall would care but eh, I'm putting this here cause I wanna

Posting an entire essay on why Golden Kamuy is the best anime ever sounds EXACTLY like something I would do you know me so well
And yeah I can understand why After the Rain would feel that way, it was in Winter 2018. I distinctly remember watching it in February and using it to get over a nasty breakup so that one's personal lol. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone forgot about it cuz, well, it came out in January and it was pretty forgettable to most.
