Welcome to The Anime Club, a friendly place where we can talk about all things anime. Or manga, if you wish. It doesn't even have to be anime related. If you just want to chat, then this is a great place to do so. 
Even if this thread hasn't been active for a while, please don't feel discouraged from chatting! This is my home, and I will welcome anyone.

1. Please put all spoilers under a spoiler tab, thank you <3 Even if it's for an older anime/manga. I wouldn't want anyone to accidentally get spoiled on something that they were probably looking forward to seeing. This includes any gifs/memes that involve spoilers as well.
2. Another thing to add on to the first rule. If you have a lot of negative things to say about a certain anime, you're free to say those things, but please put that under a spoiler tab too. Only because we don't want to discourage others from watching something that they could have potentially really liked. (A lax rule, but please keep it in mind)
3. Don't start any arguments. This is a friendly environment, and it will stay as such. It's okay to respectfully disagree with someone, but you have to remember to be respectful.
4. Please, don't excessively spam this thread or attempt to annoy others. No one wants that.
5. Be yourself, have fun, and stay awhile ^^

Yeah, I'm really glad I managed to get top 5. I'm sure it'll never happen again, lol. But now I can add more aesthetic to all of my posts ^^

Hello! I was excited when I found out that you were considering posting this den and I am glad that you did. I'm Lavi and I have a bucket load of animes that I like to watch but my all time favorite would be anything Studio Ghibli, but more specifically Spirited Away. I can't wait to get to know ya'll and I look forward to talking with you.
Side note, (@limited Patience) I like your Avatar. I'm a bit obsessed with Zelda.

Same. Both 7 and 8 were really good episodes, and I'm excited to keep watching. I think I'll officially add Revue Starlight to my list of all-time favorite anime because it's just...so good ;-; Such a sucker for theatre.

Oh yes definitely, Revue Starlight is already becoming one of my favorites as well. It's really WOWing me, and even though technically anything could go wrong in these last 4 episodes to ruin the show (I've seen it happen before) I have faith that this one will be amazing to the very end.

True, I really hope it stays good to the end! Most of the revue fights have been pretty great, and the insert songs have been stuck in my head on a loop for days.

Yes I really do have to commend the action scenes, they're beautiful (well, most of them). I love how each stage girl is themed a certain way, though it's subtle and not over-the-top characterization.

Yes! I love how the characters actually have their own goals, passions, feelings, and personality. And also the fact that they don't fall into these stereotypical tropes that I'm kinda tired of seeing. Oh, and the art style and animation are just...to die for. Any use of CG in the show is so subtle that you don't even notice unless you go back and watch the revue scenes again (which I have done many times now, don't judge) and the CG isn't even bad. It helps with the swooping camera angles, and allows the animators to achieve the desired effect without making it look like an eyesore. Everyone else should take notes honestly. Ugh this show is so good. I'm sorry, but I just had to. Below are some of the really good songs from the revue scenes, that play over the actual fights with any dialogue edited out. (Except for the one from episode 8, which only has the soundtrack but still worth listening to) |

AAAAAA that's amazing!! And yes I didn't even notice the CG, I never knew they used it until you told me lol.
And the characters really are a huge part of what makes this show good! The designs for them are unique and adorable without being over-bearing and extra, like Daiba's banana-shaped pigtails, Karen's pigtails (can you tell I'm a big fan of pigtails), and Hikari's little circlet of stars. The costumes in the revue scenes are so aesthetically pleasing as well, and did you notice that Hikari is the only one with a blue coat, while everyone else wears red? I feel like that's supposed to symbolize how she's an outcast because she studied abroad in England and isn't very close with any of the other girls (except for Karen but...that's complicated).
And THAT'S ANOTHER THING. The symbolism!! There's so much of it in this show, it makes my brain work double-time trying to keep up with what's happening and analyzing what it means while I'm watching it. That's part of why I felt the need to go watch episode 7 again (which btw, is my favorite episode so far, tied with 8). I absolutely ADORE when a story doesn't feed the answer to me, and makes me think at least a little bit to understand what's going on and the significance of everything. (That's...actually one of my gripes about My Hero Academia, but I still love the show so much and I understand it wants to be understandable by children too so it can't be that complicated, but I digress)

Oh wow, I never even thought about the symbolism behind the blue coat. That's really cool! And yeah, the symbolism is really good. And the parallels of the girls' personal desires/worries to their roles in the play make me scratch my head as well. As you have said before, there's gotta be something going on with that. Hopefully it'll be revealed soon. Spoilers for episode 3 I noticed the CG towards the end of Karen's fight with Tendo, when they were battling on the big flight of stairs. The stairs are CG, and you can definitely see it once the camera swoops over Karen and Tendo, then a big swoop over the entire set while they fight. I know I'm going waaaaay to in-depth on this, but the CG looks better than what I've seen in other anime. And the stairs don't even become CG until that one little part, the only time when it's actually needed. If CG is going to become the next thing in anime, then this is honestly the most I wish they would do with it. Edit: Drinking game. Take a shot every time I say "CG" |
