It's really fun! Basically it's just a slice of life where the MC picked up a cat and he ends up growing like, super big. Bear sized kitty. He's really smart for a cat and does all her housework and cooking and stuff. It sounds weird but it's just an anime of their daily life ;aldjfal;kjd The cat goes shopping and everything and people are just "If I make a scene here people will I think I'm the weird one." and just ignore the whole ass cat in the store lol

Since I cannot finish a single show before getting distracted by a shiny new thing, I started Devilman Crybaby a couple days ago at the behest of some Discord friends. I've read the manga, also at their behest, and thus far it's quite different, but the stylization is certainly interesting. But... did it really need that much sexual content? Especially with what they did to Miki's character; there are ways to make bland shonen-female-lead characters more interesting other than making them victims of things I don't think I can say here...

i liked devilman crybaby but normally i would suggest the manga more as it is toned down with the sexual stuff from what i remember. ryo is much more fleshed out and somewhat more likable in there too. the plot, themes, relationship dynamics (besides the romance between miki and akira, it was a bit more meh in that aspect), and ending are the same too. just not too much sexual stuff.

I have read the manga. I'll have to wait until I finish Crybaby to judge which one I prefer.

Crybaby is WILD. I went into it not knowing much and happened to be watching it in a class. Needless to say I had to close that down real fast lakdjflakjdf It was not made to be watched outside of your own room where no one will look over your shoulder lol

hello! two questions - how violent is attack on titan in terms of like, blood & gore n stuff, and how frequent is that sort of thing; and, is it possible to enjoy haikyuu if you donโt know a thing about/donโt care about volleyball?

Hey hey! AOT is pretty heavy on violence and gore, if you don't want to see that it might not be the series for you. I can't speak on later seasons, but the first two have very frequent scenes with blood and violence. And yes! You can absolutely watch Haikyuu without knowing much about volleyball. It may be a sports anime, but I think the characters themselves really carry it. The volleyball scenes are very well done to ofc, it's a fantastic anime :]

aw, beans. i really wanted to watch aot because everyone is always going on about how good it is. likewise, i see people praise haikyuu all the time, so maybe i'll give it a shot. i do love character-driven stories. c: thanks!

If it helps, people are pretty torn on the ending for aot! I highly recommend haikyuu for someone who doesnโt know about volleyball- I didnโt know much and it was easy enough to follow! (Also love your Venti pfp!!)

well Iโm 4 episodes into a frigging golf anime of all things and enjoying it so far, so haiikyuu canโt be any worse, right? xD
But I think I understand now - itโs not about the sport, itโs about the characters and their interactions and relationships to one another with the sport as a vehicle for the narrative. I get it.
(And thanks, Mint! Heโs my fave and Iโm so happy I got him, Iโve wanted him since the very beginning of the game ;u;)

I know this is an anime thread, but to any open-minded manga readers, I think youโd LOVE 20th Century Boys. It is on many top ten manga of all time lists, while being relatively unknown. Itโs a seinen manga, meaning itโs more serious in nature than something like Dragon Ball Z. It has a mixture of slice of life, thriller/mystery, and Sci-Fi elements. Hereโs the plot from wikipedia: It tells the story of Kenji Endo and his friends, who notice that a cult-leader known only as "Friend" is out to destroy the world, and that his cult icon bears a striking resemblance to a symbol developed during their childhoods. The series makes many references to a number of manga and anime from the 1960sโ1970s, as well as to classic rock music, its title being taken from T. Rex's song "20th Century Boy.โ If youโd like to read it, hereโs a link to the series for freeโ archive.org/details/20th-century-boys-21st-century-boys-naoki-urasawaJust scroll to the bottom where it has a long list of download formats and hit PDF. All volumes are there ๐ Itโs my favorite manga of all time, and will especially strike a chord with you if youโre one for childhood nostalgia, memories, and friend groups. Itโs also where I get my PFPโs from, hehe ๐ About to re-read it all again

OH!! And hereโs my second favorite manga, if not tied for favorite. The Drifting Classroom. It is a horror manga written in the 70โs. Fantastic characterization and plot, with strong themes of friendship and mother/son bonds. The pacing is breakneck, with terrifying twists on each page, and will have you on the edge of your seat till the very end of this masterpiece of a manga. No lie, this manga literally brought me to tears on numerous occasions. Hereโs the plot: In the aftermath of a massive earthquake, a Japanese elementary school is transported into a hostile world where the students and teachers are besieged by terrifying creatures and beset by madness. Out of nowhere, an entire school vanishes, leaving nothing but a hole in the ground. While parents mourn and authorities investigate, the students and teachers find themselves not dead but stranded in a terrifying wasteland where they must fight to survive. The link: archive.org/details/the-drifting-classroom-perfect-editionThis is a very accessible and addicting manga. Iโve gotten many friends into it, and they almost always read it all the way through within a few weeks. Once you start, itโs hard to stop

oh the animation is amazing. my bf read solo leveling a while ago before it was animated, but he didn't finish it. however he read ahead of whatever has been animated. dunno where he stopped, but he did tell me that they kept the artstyle almost exactly like the webtoon which makes me so happy!

I finally got around to finishing Jigokuraku/Hell's Paradise. I would describe it as a much edgier, historical Japanese Annihilation. Now I'd like to finally sink my teeth into Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, but still have to get back into Death Note...
And I also had a productive night of writing my Warriors AU of JoJo; this chapter should be finished in one more session.
