Raina looked up from his page after a few moments, quickly noticing the lack of speaking dragons. He frowned, closing the book abruptly and stashing it back into his satchel before rushing out of the inn. They couldn't have gone far...I hope they don't mind me tagging along... he thought with a grimace, already playing out the awkward conversation in his head. Glancing around, he finally spotted the tail of that beautiful- what had they called it? Er- Sun Superficial? he shook his head with a frown, quickly catching up to the small group.

“Strict security...?” Alekar repeated, seeming confused. But then he laughed as something appeared to register in his mind. “Oh was that guy at the gate...!” He said. “In most cases all the guards ask for is identification. If you don’t have it but appear friendly they just let you through. But there’s one guard who likes to antagonize people sometimes.” He said with a shrug.
Sizarla’s eyes widened and the shimmer in her scales appeared to vanish for a few seconds. “That’s awful! How did you help him survive?” She asked, clearly stunned by what the male just told her.
At the beast’s words, Shard’s eyes widened. “XANDRITE!” He roared, now overcome with worry for his daughter.
Drake heard his dragon’s roar and instantly knew what had happened. “What’s the terms of the trade?” He replied.

Laugai smiled a little in amusement. "I see. It's understandable though. Places with no security don't last long." Shone places he'd been to didn't have guards. Didn't even have anyone who knew how to fight back. He shrugged a little. "Has this place ever had to, well, defend itself?" While they talked, he listened in on the dragons, smiling a little.
Raiden tilted his head. "Caution and cow's milk." His kind let the human stick around too, fortunately. "It was hard staying small though, cause I couldn't exactly care for a baby at seventy feet."
The creature hummed. "We want... that one." He pointed to Ma'ait, who was out cold and unresponsive. "A life... for a life." Mysha snorted, hardly finding the exchange fair honestly. She glanced at Drake, shaking her head.

Alekar nodded slowly as he listened to Laugai. “Well, not really... we did once when there was an arsonist on the loose, then a burglar afterwards... we had a bit of an interesting period.” He replied.
Sizarla giggled a little at his 70-feet comment. “I bet it was hard... staying small does take a lot out of me too.” She replied, though she figured it was easier for her. “But that is so cool your kind let him stay. Not many dragon races are like that...” She said.
Shard looked over at his mate and he snarled, eyes growing wide with worry. How could he choose? His mate, the female he had dragonlings with, or the daughter he’d raised since birth?
Drake growled, feeling his dragon’s pain. “How do we know their daughter is safe? For all we know she’s dead and converted to your kind.” He snarled.

Laugai nodded slowly. "The best come from experience." Hopefully the guards consisted of veterans or at least prodigies or they would not last long against proper attacks. "This place seems like it has yet to be hit with anything concerning, but I suppose I haven't seen much yet."
Raiden shrugged. "Nothing is born evil or malicious. Such is the interpretation of other creatures. Having been presented with a baby, my people agreed that Laugai could be taught in a better light." A baby anything was the most raw learner after all.
The creature just stared. "Converted? She already... is one... of us. Is like... our master." There was a moment of quiet. "... answer... now..." Mysha shook her head again, telling Drake "We can't spare Ma'ait. If the youngling turns, then we just kill her and the demon." It was harsh, but logical.

((Should we continue with the new plot?))
Drake paused, listening to his wife and agreeing with her. But this would also be a good opportunity to wipe out a lot of the army, and if the dragonling was still okay and could return to them, they could rescue her then and there. “Where should we meet?” Drake asked as he looked up at the creature. “We will NOT be coming to you, by the way. And when you do bring us the youngling, I expect you to only bring enough soldiers to escort her.” He held a hand behind his back, making a couple hand motions to tell his wife and dragon that he had this under control.

(If you want to, up to you, or if you want to make another new plot or something to have something fresh. Or just stick with this one)
The soldier tilted his head as Mysha left to go reassure Shard. "We... do not... run on your time. You... come to our... camp. Bring the dragon. Believe... me... the youngling... is more... valuable than her. Master is... generous." Glancing back toward the entrance, he continued "We will be... south. At the... edge of the forest."

I kinda like this new plot we have going if you’d like to continue it too))
Shard was snarling and growling loudly, whether it was at his human or the soldier was unclear. He spat a ball of black flame at the creature and snarled again.
Drake watched the soldier and he nodded, but on the inside he was actually glad the soldier arranged the meeting how it did. It was the new moon tomorrow night, which meant he and Shard were at their most powerful. They would have the win, or they’d die trying. “Agreed. Tomorrow night, we will come according to your terms.” He replied.

(Then yeah we'll continue it :3)
The creature merely hummed before turning away. The other soldiers also turned and left. And eventually they were gone, leaving the group to themselves. The humans sighed visibly in relief, and Mysha looked down as Ma'ait began to stir.

Alrighty! Should we skip to later or continue to have my pair show yours around?))
Shard curled protectively around his mate and started licking her slowly and lovingly. He glared at the humans ins distrust. He wouldn’t let his mate go, even though he still wanted to get Xandrite back.

(We can skip to later or a few days maybe)
Ma'ait had kept the metal form, comforted by Shard as she shakily stood up. Everyone prepared to go back home, where it was safer. Mysha sighed as she walked back over to Drake, unsure of their plan's success.

Maybe a few days later? The four of them would have gotten to know the others better))
Shard helped Ma’ait up and supported her with his frame, the kids still on his back.
Drake watched as his wife came over and he gently brought her close. “We’ll be okay, love. This will end tomorrow.”

(Sounds like a plan, can you start?)
Mysha nodded a little, her arm going around Drake as they left the tunnel. "I hope so. Best to snuff it all out before it gets even worse." They had the metal now, so all they needed to do was melt it down and make chains out of it.

A few days later, Alekar was currently at the front desk of the inn, filling in for a receptionist who got word to them that they were sick. So Alekar was just filling in until a replacement could arrive.
Sizarla was once again in her tiny form, tail carefully wrapped around her human’s neck as she lounged on his shoulder, just lazily looking around.

Laugai had actually decided to stay at the inn while he was in the city, though currently he and Raiden had been out for some supplies. They were on their way back to the inn though, Raiden following Laugai as the size of a small dog. Laugai noticed Alekar at the front desk though, and he arched a brow "Are you filling in or something?"

((we can if you’d like. Or we could do the interim when the chains are made))
Drake walked out with Mysha at his side and he heard Shard leading his mate out, occasionally licking her to keep her conscious. “Let’s get home and prepared.”
Alekar looked up as he heard a voice and he smiled upon seeing Laugai and Raiden. “Haha yeah just for a little bit. Other receptionist got sick so I’m here until someone else comes in.” He replied
Sizarla herself perked up a bit and she leaped off her human’s shoulder and landed next to Raiden, growing to his size. “Hi Rai! How was your trip out to town?”

(We can just skip to tomorrow, and just say the chains were made through any other smithing method to hurry things along a little)
After getting home and seeing to harvesting the metal, Mysha had overseen the production of the heavy chains before even considering getting some rest. It was said that everything would barely be finished before they left to the trade, so she had gone to sleep during some of the production. When it was time go, she was rounding up some soldiers as well as the chains, which would be kept out of sight just in case that monster showed up.
---
Laugai scrunched up his nose a little. "I don't think I could sit at a desk for long like that. Sounds boring." He was more of a wanderer, having not had an actual job in a long time.
Raiden looked over at Sizarla as she joined up, tail waving as he said "Good enough, nothing eventful. Laugai had just needed some supplies. We will be leaving soon." Or he assumed as such. Laugai never liked to stay in one place long.

Drake was helping prepare soldiers and get supplies ready, while Shard was still reassuring his mate that everything would still be okay and that nothing bad would happen. Both males were still worried, but no one wanted to voice their concerns.
“Nah it’s fun. Plus it’s only for.a few hours. We contacted one of our other workers who said they would come in fairly soon.” He replied. “It’s a nice change of pace every once in a while.” He replied.
Sizarla’s mood seemed to drop sharply at the news that Raiden and his human would be leaving. “Awww no! Why do you have to leave so soon?” She asked, circling him a few times. “You’re a good dragon, Raiden! And a friend! I don’t like seeing friends leave.”

Soon everyone was ready to go and were moving out to the decided meeting area. No one spoke, and looked wary, but Mysha didn't doubt that they were determined.
Laugai nodded a little. "Ah, okay. Well, hopefully they get here soon. Change of pace or not." He smiled sheepishly before glancing to their dragons talking too. Raiden had mentioned them leaving, but Laugai didn't comment.
Raiden smiled a little. "We... like to travel. Plenty of places we still have yet to visit and see. More things to learn." He watched her as she bounded a few circles around him. "We'll see about visiting though."

Drake soon caught up to Mysha and walked beside her, dark flames springing up around him as well as Shard. The two of them were growing in power, and it would only grow more as the night went on.
Eventually the person covering the shift arrived, and Alekar came out to stand with his dragon and their friends. "So, I heard you might be leaving soon?" he asked, just curious.
Sizarla huffed and nudged Raiden a couple times in playful fun. "You better visit!" She said as she gave him a happy play-glare. "Otherwise Alekar won't let you two stay here!" She said, completely in playful fun.

Eventually the group had found their way to the meeting spot, but there was no one there to greet them yet. Mysha looned around suspiciously, wondering where the other party could be.
Laugai nodded a little. "Yeah, we've never been inclined to stay anywhere too long, but I'm sure I'll see to stopping by here in the future. Especially cause your dragon seems to not want mine to go." He laughed a little at the last part, watching Raiden growl playfully at Sizarla's playful warnings.

Drake just waited there, watching as Shard came with his mate. They were both apprehensive, but this had to work. It was their only shot.
((Would it be okay if Sizarla and Alekar joined up with them?)) Alekar looked over at their dragons and he nodded in amusement. "Yes, Sizarla is very protective of her friends. She hates seeing any of them leave." he said fondly.
Sizarla growled happily as Raiden growled back at her and she nimbly moved towards her friend, bopped her nose on his, then skittered away a few paces, wanting to play.

Mysha watched as the creatures showed up, large group guarding Xandrite, who had her wings chained and a muzzle over her snout. The soldier from earlier had them keep their distance though, unamused expression turned toward the other group.
(Sure)
Laugai smiled. "She must be a good companion to have around." He watched as Raiden accepted the little offer of play, bounding toward Sizarla and lightly batting at her wings with his paws.

Shard walked with his mate towards the other group with Drake, looking around slowly. He spotted Xandrite and his eyes widened. "Xandrite! Are you okay?"
Alekar nodded happily, watching as the two dragons played. "Yes, she is very good to me. Just as I am good to her. We make a good team, just as I can tell you and Laugai do too."
Sizarla let out high pitched trills of glee and she giggled as Laugai patted her wings. She tried to paw back at him, eyes alight with happiness.

Xandrite was only able to nod a little due to having the muzzle on. The soldier from before simply looked toward the other group, saying "I assume you came to make the exchange."
"Yeah, Raiden and I do make a good team." Laugai smiled a little. "That's why it's easy to travel as much as we do. I don't think I'd fare well with just me. Raiden is knows the world much more than I ever will."
