Irene's blue eyes flashed with melancholy, her smile briefly becoming a bittersweet one. "Used to, a while back. It's just me here now." She looked down at her own soup, trying to find interest in the floating noodles and vegetables mixed with chicken. The subject he brought up was a rather sensitive one. After all, it had only been 8 months since she had been living by herself

- "...Oh."
Oh, whatever she wasn't telling him had to be good, but he had to have somewhere to stay, so he didn't pry. He just finished his soup, slurping as he tipped the bowl back, and wiping his mouth with the back of his hand as he set it down on the coffee table, leaning forward and looking around the house she more.
With some food and water in him everything seemed to process better in his mind, and be less painful to do, so he stood up and started looking around, a bit of a limp still evident in his step. "Nice place," was all he said as he peered into the bathroom, leaving her room alone and doing a lap around the kitchen before coming back to sit down, wincing as he bent down to do so.

Irene washed the dishes. "Is there anything I can get you?" She offered. "You can take a shower first if you like-the hot water is kinda limited here." She still had to take one herself but decided it would be kinder of her to let him go first

- A hum emitted from the back of The Master's throat before he nodded, pushing himself to his feet again with a pained grimace. "I won't use it all," he said with a half-smile which he had to force, turning, and shuffling into the bathroom.
Well, he hadn't lied about not being long. In ten minutes he was back out, hair nearly hanging down to his eyes now that it was wet. He smelled like her flowery shampoo (not that he minded), and felt sticky from the steam, but he had to admit he did feel better. Collapsing on the couch, he gestured to the bathroom with one hand and an, "It's all yours."

Irene nodded. She wanted to take a long shower but at the same time didn't want to leave him alone in her apartment too long. The thought of having him here still freaked her out a bit and she also was half tempted to sleep with her pocket knife with her
After her shower she wrapped a towel around her hair to help it dry faster, and went back into the living room. "So tell me how you ended up in the alleyway."

- The Master was still waiting on the couch where he'd left her, eyes closed. He'd been pondering what he should do next. He knew that he couldn't stay here, but for now he had to. There was no where else he could go.
When she began to speak, he opened his eyes, sitting forward and putting his elbows on his knees. Well, he didn't really have to lie about this one. He just didn't need to elaborate. "Fight with the boyfriend," he shrugged, glancing away and out the window. It had been a fight, and his 'boyfriend' had been there, but he didn't need to tell her that they had been fighting the same thing, right?

That struck the sympathy nerve hard for Irene. "I'm sorry." She murmured. "But I'm sure you guys will patch everything up. That's the beauty of love: It always shines through." Her gaze left Will and went to the window. She stood up and moved the curtains back to gaze at the darkening sky. Not like the sky actually got that dark. Atlanta had a haze of light even at midnight

- "Yeah, we always do," The Master mused, dark eyebrows knitting together as he peered at the glow outlined by the rooftops outside. It was true. Part of him knew that he could seek out The Doctor for aid, but they would only begin to fight again. Fighting was his flirting though, so he would put it down to consideration.
"Was that your boyfriend's room?"
He barely realized that he was asking that out loud before it left his mouth. Just like his "boyfriend," The Master sometimes had a hard time remembering that mouths shouldn't always spit out what brains were thinking, even though he didn't often care if they did or not.

Irene froze before sighing. "Yes. Yes it was." She said with a sad look in her eye. But it wasn't in Irenes nature to stay down for to long and she soon wiped the sadness off of her face, replacing it with a rather passive expression. She didn't really mind Will asking that question since it wasn't really personal, but at same time she hadn't expected him to. He seemed to be more of a keep to himself person, but then again, she hardly knew him

- The Master nodded, and then lightly gibed, "I sure do hope that his name wasn't Will," and chuckled softly. That was the first lighthearted remark to come out of his mouth since he'd gotten here, but just because he was trying to act normal didn't mean that he had to be bland.
He sniffed loudly, well aware that he seemed to be developing a cold, before he continued, "Uh, would you like me to sleep on the couch, or..." In all honesty he wanted the bed, but he had to be a sweet, shy young man. He couldn't just ask, he had to be offered. Humans were weird like that. They got so offended if you made yourself at home.

"No his name wasn't Will." Irene laughed, glad to see him finally relax. She blinked when he sniffled. "Please, take the bed its not big deal. I'll make you some tea if you don't feel well." She offered. It was understandable that he probably didn't feel well and Irene felt awful for him. Poor thing, she thought, he's had such a rough day. She tried not to look at him like a little lost puppy kicked to the curb but that's kinda how she saw him

- He shook his head, cheekily saluting before saying. "I'll be fine, and uh, thank you for allowing me into your home. Goodnight, Irene." And with that he turned, heading into her ex's bedroom and closing the door behind him.
It was like Will melted away once he was out of her line of sight. The soft, dopey look melted off his face. He mussed his fingers through his coarse, damp hair and then down his face, softly sighing before he tugged his shirt off and threw it on the floor, going to stand in front of the mirror. He studied himself, sticking his tongue out and baring his teeth at himself, pulling all sorts of faces in the dim lighting.
His torso was very nicely bruised, if you could call royal purple in some places "nice." With another sigh, he spun on his heel, flopping down on top of the sheets and putting his hands behind his head. What to do, what to do... he couldn't just kill her. Well, he could actually, he could kill her really easily, but she was free food and a free bed until he figured out what to do.

Irene shrugged. "Number one dumbest thing I've ever done." She muttered to herself. She also retreated back into her own room and flopped onto the bed, grabbing a pillow and hugging it to her chest. That was when she realized how much Will reminded her of her ex. Maybe that's why I took suck pity on him. She sighed, wishing she could be a normal person who walked past people laying in alleyways without a second glance

- It had taken The Master about two hours to fall into a restless sleep, beside lamp still on as he dozed. Even the he woke up at five, for a moment panicking as he found he had no idea whose bed he was in. But soon he remembered, and he relaxed, breathing heavily as he laid his head back down on the pillow, basking in the silence. The drums were gone, and he could think. Maybe they gave him too much room to think though.
After unsuccessfully trying to get back to sleep, he got up, walking out of the room and into the kitchen. It didn't take him too long to find the coffee, and he didn't even have to figure out how to use the coffee maker. It was easy, human technology. He had a cup of coffee soon, sitting on the counter and wondering when his hostess would wake up, and if she'd kick him out.

When Irene's alarm went off at 6, she want expecting the subtle scent of coffee to be wafting through her apartment. She slowly sat up, getting out of bed with a stretch before heading out of her room. "Good morning, Will. How did you sleep?" She asked cheerfully, heading for the coffee pot to make a cup of her own. She was still tired but she usually got up at this time to go on a jog and even if she didn't, she was hoping to be up before her guest.

- "Good, good," he said, swinging his feet, which were clad in the striped socks he'd found in one of the drawers. Why hadn't her boyfriend taken his stuff with him? Had he died or something? That was morbid. He liked it. "How did you sleep?" He wondered if she'd slept well, knowing he was in the other room. Lucky for her he didn't sleep walk.

"Just fine, thank you. You know, you seem to be a pretty good person, Will." Irene stirred a small amount of sugar into her coffee, drinking it without any cream. Luckily she had the day off of work. She probably would have requested the day off either way, not wanting to leave Will alone in her apartment for 8 hours straight. She didn't quite trust him that much

- "Is that so?" The Master asked, taking a long sip from his mug, "you seem to be a very good person too." He finished his coffee, placing the mug carefully in the sink and going back to sitting, looking at her with his hands folded in his lap, tapping his fingers together as he glanced around the room. What was he supposed to say to her?
Oh, maybe this was "socially acceptable." "Do you have work? Do you want me to leave, or...?"

Irene shook her head. "No no I got the day off. You stay as long as you like!" She hoped she wouldn't later regret this offer. An idea popped into her head like a light bulb going off. "Would you like me to take you shopping, or perhaps out to eat later today?" It sucked to get into a fight with your significant other, and the two things that always made Irene feel better were shopping and food. It was a bit of a stretch to apply these for Will, but she wouldn't know until she put the offer out there

- "Are you assuming I like to shop because I told you I had a boyfriend?" The Master asked, opening his mouth in mock shock, before clarifying as he leaned forward a bit, "that was a joke. I was joking. I would love to go shopping, and not because I have a boyfriend." He smiled, looking down at his feet.
He was indeed joking, but he had to make her at least a little bit uncomfortable. Just a little. There was no way that he wouldn't go insane while here if he didn't.

Irene laughed. "No no i promise that's not why I asked. And let me get dressed for the day. You can change too if you like, I'm obviously not using anything in that room." She slipped back into her own room, exchanging her pjs with little zebras on them for some simple jeans, and black hoodie shirt. She placed her fedora back onto her head- after all she never left home without it

{ ooc: goodnight! }
The Master slid off of the counter after she'd headed back into her room. He brushed off the sweats and headed to go and get changed. He simply picked out a pair of different, more stylish sweatpants, and threw on a black hoodie that was nearly identical to the one he'd landed in. What did the humans call this? Ah, yes, comfy casual.
He exited the room, tugging his tennis shoes on and stepping into the bathroom to mess with his hair. It stuck out everywhere, but a quick scour found him no gel. He'd just leave it messy.

Irene grabbed a small purse off of the counter. "We can walk or we can drive. Either way this city can get so crowded it can take the same amount of time." She said. It was true. Nothing was worse than traffic in Atlanta. Except maybe traffic in New York. Both of the cities sucked in that sense that you couldn't get anywhere that quick

- "I don't care," The Master shrugged, though his legs and torso were still sore. If she thought that Atlanta was bad then she should try London for a torturous year. That had been terrible. Back on Gallifrey they all had ships, no land vehicles, and the slowness of motor traffic really tried his patience.

"Let's just walk then." Irene glanced out the window and didn't see any sign of clouds. Not feeling the need to grab her umbrella she walked out of the apartment and waited for Will to come too so she could lock the door and they could be on their way

- "Alright," he replied, heading out the door after her, glancing up at the sky. Still chilly. It must've been fall. It had been spring when he'd gone back into the timelock, so he must've been away for awhile, longer than just a day or a couple of weeks. It was of no consequence to him though, since time travel was always a viable option.

"Maybe we can find you a nice jacket." Irene rubbed her chin im thought. "I feel like your could rock a leather jacket." She grinned, trying to imagine this man in something so punk rocky. The image she conjured in her mind nearly made her burst out laughing, but she controlled herself

- "Oh, I don't have any money," The Master said, shrugging awkwardly, "but it would be nice to look." He smiled his most sheepish smile, nose scrunching up against the cold as they walked out of the alleyway and onto the busy street. Oh, it was so America here. Everything just looked American, sounded American, smelled American. By smelled he meant fried. Very, very fried.

Irene spotted the local coffee shop she usually stopped by. "Give me one second!" She ran in, leaving Will on the sidewalk. It was probably her sympathy nerve being struck again after hearing his lack of funds, and she just had to get him something. She returned with two steaming mugs of hot chocolate and offered one to him. "You look cold. Maybe this will warm you up." She smiled. At this point, she had gotten used to the dropping temperatures and wasn't too bad, but the warm liquid made her feel all fuzzy inside anyway
