Jolene tried her best not to fall behind Bash as she took in all their surroundings, ordering herself to remember everything she was seeing. She got embarrassed as he mentioned how easily she had gotten taken advantage of, and lowered her head slightly, blushing red as a beet. Remembering how he had made her promise him that she would learn how to take care of herself, before he knew she was a wizard as well, Jolene chewed the inside of her cheek. The warm sunlight, the sharp mountain air, and the weight of her suitcase all fell away as she went deep into thought. She really would need to learn to protect herself. She would need to train more; hopefully someone could help her really learn. Her grandmother had tried her best, but age had restrained her from most things except knitting and milking cows. Jolene noted that she would need to be physically stronger as well. Maybe run every morning? Did they have gyms here? They're bound to, and they must be better than the dingy, likely haunted high school gym back home.
Jolene snapped back into reality when he offered her some food. With perfect timing, her stomach growled. Had she forgotten to eat again? She did that when she was nervous. "Thank you kindly." She took the dessert, or at least that's what she assumed it was. Taking a bite, her eyes almost immediately watered with amazement and joy. She had never tasted anything so amazing, so flavorful, so different! "This beats cornbread and beans any day." She said with her mouthful, then remembered her manners and placed a hand over her mouth, laughing just a little bit.

Bash watched her expression shift into something so happy that he'd noticed she almost started to cry. He couldn't help but allow his lips to curl up into a smile for just a fraction of a second, hoping she didn't look too deeply into his gesture. He rolled his eyes in amusement and offered her another one, along with a napkin from his pocket. He motioned once more to continue following him. He recognized a lot of people as he passed but didn't bother to stop and talk to them. Every now and then he'd high five them or nod in their direction, but never did he try to create conversation. To him, all that he cared about for the moment was getting her into the guild hall so he could go home and rest for the night before taking on his first S-Class job. He'd been pretty excited to start one, but his new delay was what was preventing him from heading out around dusk instead of dawn.
As they continued to eat the benes, he asked her questions in between mouthfuls. He hadn't really planned on opening up so much to her, but she didn't seem too obnoxious like other people he'd been forced to carry a conversation with. So what was your life like back home? What kind of powers do you possess? Do you have any friends you know in the guild or are you seriously all on your own? When he'd taken his last bite from his part of their shared meal, he wiped his hands and threw the basket into a nearby trail trash can. He stifled a small laugh as he watched her scarf down more of the food but occasionally cover her mouth to keep up with her manners. That little accent of hers was very thick, and he had no doubt a few people in mind at the guild who would like her. She was very approachable, besides the fact that she looked dainty at first glance. He wasn't surprised to find that she was a nice as she was polite, which he was appreciative of. She also didn't talk too much, which set her apart from most of the other people he knew that rambled on excessively. He could definitely see them becoming acquaintances or sharing a beer at the guild hall when he got back from a job.
Once they arrived at the guild, he stopped walking and stared up at the tall building. "You ready?" he asked, looking down to where she stood by him. The expression on her face was more than enough to make him grin and laugh slightly. He wasn't sure if it was the best idea to follow her in, but figured he'd only come with her if she'd like him to.

Jolene noted how popular her tour guide was. Multiple people were acknowledging him with various friendly greetings. How well known was he? Did he have a lot of friends? Would he even be interested in her once he dropped her off at the guild hall like some package? Why was she so nervous?! Making sure not to speak with a mouthful this time, Jolene answered all his questions, owing her backstory to someone devoting so much time to her. "Back home, I worked and lived on a farm. My town was pretty small, but I liked knowing everybody, from the oldest grandparent to the newest baby. Everyone knew me, too, because I was really involved in the round up club." She was hit with a pang of homesickness, but covered it up gracefully as she went to the next question. "I use shadow magic." A pause. "The people back home don't know what I am, or why I really left. They shunned my mother and grandmother for being wizards, and especially using a magic that appeared evil. It took a lot of reassurance from my mother that my magic was a gift, not something evil that I should hide." Oh gosh, all her answers sounded sad. She hoped she didn't sound pathetic. "I know you." Jolene smiled, brushing a little bit of powdered sugar off her cheek.
Jolene looked up in amazement at the building before them. "It's beautiful." She murmured. She had never seen a building like it. Everything at home was made of old brick and was falling apart, but the guild hall before her was a beautiful statement of strength and power that she couldn't help but be pulled to. If she could call this place a home, she would thank God every night. Suddenly, fear washed over her. "I don't think I'm ready." She confided in her new friend. "What if it's like you said, and I'm really not strong enough? What would I do? I can't go back home." Panic was spreading through her like a wildfire, and she was trying to hard to control it.

Bash's neutral expression melted into a soft expression as a warm smile tugged up at his lips. He remembered the day that he'd joined the guild. The nervousness, the doubt, the massiveness of his decision... But it the end it was all worth it. He got through it with the help of his parents, although now he just felt alone without them. He held his breath and without putting much thought to it grabbed her hand and laced his fingers through hers, squeezing it softly. "You are," he murmured. "And I'm here to help you though it." He led her up the last few steps toward the door and unlaced his hand from hers before opening the doors into the guild.
While Bash was met with a loud cheer and holler from many of the other members in congratulations, he noticed a few of the other girls staring. He was known for having a bit of a reputation among the female guild members, although he couldn't begin to imagine why they took such a liking to him. He remembered spending a few intimate moments with one here and there, but nothing more than an overnight fling to keep his mind off of other things. As soon as he snapped out of his memory file cabinet, he looked behind him to see how Jolene was doing with it all. He could feel the head of dozens of eyes on them, but in that moment he beckoned for her to follow him over to where the guild master was residing. He shot her a reassuring glance as he pointed over in their direction. That's Dorian Teratiod, our guild master. They're basically the one who runs the guild and is in charge of making sure we all do our part. Dorian's also one of the strongest mages I've ever known. As long as you give a fairly good impression of you and your powers, then I'm sure they'll let you join. Just make sure to tell them how much you can do to better the guild, and you're all set." He patted her on the back and walked over to grab a beer from the bar before returning over to where he stood with her earlier. "Let me know if you need me to come with you," he offered.

(bruh. too good)
Jolene melted. A static like feeling ran through her body, perhaps a small burst of adrenaline from the narrowly avoided panic attack. She looked at Bash, thanking the heavens for sending someone so kind to help her. Though she felt a little weak for not being able to find the place on her own, Jolene was beyond thankful that she wouldn't have to walk in alone. Maybe she just wasn't built to be brave. That's okay, isn't it? Letting out a long breath, and adjusting her glasses by wiggling her nose, Jolene nodded.
Walking in behind him, the poor country girl felt like every eye was burning into her, demanding to know everything about her. She heard her mother chiding her in her mind, and straightened her back, letting her shoulders drop into a relaxed position. Jolene walked as though the suitcase wasn't the heaviest thing she'd ever had to lug around town, and looked everyone in the eye, offering a sincere smile to each of them, and a little wave to a few of the girls. God, this was horrifying. She'd never had to meet so many new people at once. In fact, she hadn't meet someone new since she was 5! Good thing her mother had hounded her on how to present herself to others. Looking at Bash, she gave a meek smile, and walked up to the guild master.
Setting her suitcase down beside her, she offered a hand to, hopefully, her new guild master. "My name is Jolene Pinewood, and it's a pleasure to meet you." She smiled, trying to put more confidence in it. Hopefully she faked it well enough. "I was sent here by my grandmother, a magic user, who claimed this would be the best guild for me. I've heard nothing but good things." She was talking a bit more quickly, removing her straw hat and tucking a lock of red hair behind her ear. "I-I want to be apart of something bigger, and I couldn't find that in my little town. Please, let me join your guild, and prove how much I want to help." She spoke the words softly, wanting only the guild master to hear them. "I'm, uhm, a shadow wizard." To prove it, Jolene used the most impressive move she knew, in which her entire body became a shadow, melting into the ground and leaving her straw hat behind. While a shadow, Jolene was acutely aware of her surroundings, and became very stressed as she realized how many people were looking at her. She went back to her original form at once.

{lmao what do you mean too good? XD}
Bash watched as the girl's anxiety began to takeover, although he had to admit that she held herself together more than he had expected her to. He felt himself holding in a breath of air once she had turned herself into a mere shadow and back into her true form. He felt the same stares that she did, and for that reason took a big chug out of his beer. He knew how nerve-wracking these situations tended to be, so to provide a distraction from her, he walked over to a group of mages nearby, who congratulated him on his new rank and cheered loudly with their matching mugs of beer, clanking them together in unison. He looked around him and felt a wash of relief flood through him as he noticed more people stare over toward the group than at Jolene.
After a few minutes of loud celebrating, he walked back over to the bar and sat down to get another drink. The bar gossip had already moved on toward another subject, causing Bash to take a grateful sip from his second beer. A group of girls were watching him from the other end of the bar, to which he then gave a quick wink before tipping the bartender and getting up to go see how things were going with Jolene.
{insert mental note to have Bash request to call her JoJo cx I think we must wait for Sappho to get back and respond as the guild master}

hi, sorry i'm only seeing all of your messages now, i went to bed)
The Guild Master was sitting where she normally sat, in her own corner, quietly going through papers (bills, no doubt, from mages of Yellow Moon who were a little too 'enthusiastic' on missions), with a hot drink on the table in front of her. From this angle, she was entirely covered, hat dipped over her face, cloak and collars pulled up, only her hands, shifting sheets of long numbers, peeked out from the dark red fabric. Still, she was acutely aware of what was happening around her, and knew when Bash entered by the cheer from the bar that went up. Popular boy. Good to see a more approachable made making S-Class, it took some of the weight of interacting with younger members off her weary shoulders.
When she heard the footsteps approach her, she had to turn her head fully to be able to see the young woman, though her face didn't ring any bells. Dorian sat silently as she talked, letting her speak as much as she wanted to. Her accent gave her away, this shadow mage wasn't from these parts at all. When she displayed her magic, Dorian raised one hand and spoke quietly, "There's no need for a demonstration. This isn't a circus." She stood then, moving with care. Though she was practically silent in everything she did, there was a certain gravity to her, and a weight in what she did. Also, now drawn up to her full height, she towered over Jolene, who had turned back to her regular self. "I am Master Teratoid, 27th Guild Master of Yellow Moon." She tilted her head, letting the brim of her hat fall back from her good eye to allow this new girl to at least see a sliver of her. "You must've travelled very far to come here, it's very kind of you to say those things about our home." She gave her head a small bow; as someone who hated travelling, Dorian could respect the effort she'd made.
Dorian gestured to the hall of guild mages, who had quietened down considerably when they realised there was a stranger among them. It's wasn't hostile, but it was unashamedly noisy and curious, "And a Guild is a home, Miss Pinewood. Do you understand that?" The Master's tone wasn't accusatory, only honest. Not everyone did understand after all. "When you join a Guild, you agree to take on the responsibility of looking after others, and putting Yellow Moon as a whole before yourself as a person. In response to this, we return the favour." She had not had to go through this herself, having lived at the guild her whole life, so she didn't bother mincing her words or pretending that everything about being a Guild Mage was easy, "This can be a very dangerous line of work." She warned, thinking of her own failures and what they cost her, "That is why we don't do it alone. If you're going to be one of us, I need your word that you will be loyal." She gently stuck her hand out in front of her to be shaken, some of her cloak falling back to expose her tan, skeletal arm.

She was familiar? God, what if he knew her from some old wanted poster? Grizel had managed to keep off of those the best she could, but there had been the occasional slip up. Where else could he have seen her? Her prick of panic was flooded by a wave of snarky contempt at his question, "Do I look like a Guild Mage?" She asked, a little offended by the question. Guilds had always rubbed her up the wrong way, there was no question of that. Everything this guy was saying annoyed her, and silently confirming what she thought about 'professionals'. "I don't need handouts. All I need from you is to walk away from this. I can handle this by myself." So maybe the drug gang was broken up. It was far from ideal, but it wasn't the end of the world. There were plenty of folk who'd want what she was carrying, and if they didn't know the original price, what was to stop her from doubling it? The deal with the gang was that she'd get half the pay at the beginning, which had been depleted by her journey, and the other half at the end. Grizel had always done her best to scrounge and save; sleeping rough, going without, when she was younger she even used to pick through the garbage instead of buying food. Then she learnt how to steal, and then she learnt her magic. And now, she didn't like being bossed around, especially by some two bit Guild Mage who talked too much. At least from all this talking, she'd had time to suss him up a bit. He was definitely S-Class. "I wouldn't go running and tell anyone you let me go if you just walk away right now. It's an unfair world out there, sometimes you have to turn a blind eye to get by." She still had the package close to her side in her left hand, but her right one was behind her, pressed up against the stone wall of the alley. She didn't want to phase right now if it could be avoided - didn't like to show her cards like that. This guy wouldn't be the first Guild Mage who'd been persuaded to ignore her. "I've got some jewels on me." No way she was going to tell him how much, though, "If you need proper motivation." He was probably alone. Anyone he'd been with would've noticed he was gone by now, and the street outside was busy enough, but there was no one calling any names. He was still S-Class though. That made sense, didn't it? The big guns rarely needed anyone else with them, that made it to easy. Plus, then you had to split the cash, and she didn't know anyone who was too found of that. here's my last reply to Bash as Grizel)

(Hey Saph!! Sorry, I think I sent two messages to you BC I can't function as a normal member of society)
Jolene was feeling a mix of emotions. She was embarrassed beyond belief, feeling as though she had been scolded for doing what she thought she was supposed to do. She was somewhat afraid of the guild master, who spoke smoothly and had only shown a single eye to her. Not to mention she towered over poor Jolene. Though, she felt something like awe as she considered the guild masters raw power. It must be an incredible sight, and Jolene was caught between wanting to never be in the situation to have to see it, but also wanting to watch the strongest mage here display their power.
When Dorian called the guild a home, Jolene felt as though she wanted nothing more than to be apart of this family. Growing up as the oldest sister of a large family, she knew very well how to take care of others, and how to put their wants and needs ahead of your own. She had never really known someone to do that for her, though, and her heart hurt at the joyous thought of having so many people looking after her.
Jolene softly took Dorian's hand, feeling a small wave of fear and panic at the look of her arm. She forced down the feeling, for she knew exactly what she was getting herself into. Hey, couldn't be no more dangerous than riding a bull, right? "I will be loyal to y'all." She stated, her voice soft, but her determination was still evident. "I don't have a home to go back to, and I would be honored to call your guild home."

it's fine)
"Very well then." She took her hand back, her voice sounding a little bit warmer, "Welcome to Yellow Moon, Jolene." Dorian raised her voice to be heard by the eavesdropping mages more clearly, "Everyone, this is Jolene Pinewood. Make her feel welcome." Dorian wasn't one much for speeches or gushing reports, she was done here. She would watch Jolene closely from a distance, and get others to tell her what they thought of her for a period of time, and once she was settled, Dorian would pull back on the surveillance. She wasn't the most 'hands on' of Guild Masters, and the quicker the new mage learnt that Dorian liked her distance, the better.
Knowing full well that the mess hall was liable to explode with noise soon, she quickly gathered up her papers, tucked them into a large pocket in her cloak, before grabbing her staff and cup of whatever was steaming away and headed for the large door. She could finish this work in her own quarters, where she'd have some peace and quiet. Before she left, she bent closer to Jolene and motioned towards the bar, "See Farrell about getting your Guild Mark." The Master pointed out the white haired man pouring drinks, "He'll show you your room later." She promised, before turning on her heel and vanishing out the door, Shepherd's Crook gently tapping in time with her footsteps.

Jolene's heart was bursting with joy. She had really made it! She had actually found the guild, somewhat on her own, and managed to join! That would really show everyone who doubted her back home. Of course, she couldn't go home to tell them, but maybe she would send a letter to her youngest sister; she had always been Jolene'a favorite. "Thank you, so much." Jolene said to her new guild master, blinking her eyes feriously before so, as to clear away any tears that threatened to spill out. Oh wow, she got a room?! She hadn't even known where she was going to sleep tonight, but now she had her own room! Jolene had never had a room to herself; she shared it with two of her sisters. At least she had her own bed, though, so she couldn't complain.
Jolene managed to steal a look at Bash, smiling wide and giving him a little thumbs up as a stray tear of joy ran down her face. God, she needed to stop being such a cry baby when she was happy! Being wisked away to the bar to inquire about her guild mark, Jolene had no idea this was a tradition among magic guilds. A few of her new guild members showed off theirs, including some eager boys who were more than happy to display theirs on their chest or biceps. She became very wary of the mark; getting any sort of tattoo back home was a sin. Maybe this was different? Still, she should probably get it where it could be easy to cover. So, Jolene requested it to be on the inside of her arm, just above her elbow. The color was to be a simple green to match her eyes.

Farrell was cleaning glasses when the new girl came over (Saints above, it seemed like he was always cleaning glasses), and he gave her a small smile, but didn't approach her as the other men bustled around the pretty young thing to show off. The barkeeper had never had to worry about impressing ladies, but that doesn't mean he wasn't going to be polite. Besides, each new member put him further into the Guild, as he hadn't been here that long himself.
"No problem." He nodded to her when she told him what she wanted, "I'll go get the kit." He rolled his shoulders, feeling his translucent wings unfurl and begin to hum. In a few seconds he had lifted off the ground, turning his back to the mess hall and his front to the wall of shelves that ran to the ceiling. They were constructing new shelves higher and higher up for him, but the kit was only about the third shelf up. As he floated back down, he tried to soothe her a little, she looked stressed about the whole 'tattoo' business. "It's less of a tattoo and more of a stamp." Farrell admitted, showing her the actual equipment, "And it doesn't hurt at all. Only takes a few seconds too." He had plenty of tattoos over his body; black arrows and dashes that lit up when he used his magic, and they were real tattoos. The Guild Stamp had much more meaning, but it was child's play in comparison to some of the tattoos men and women boasted in his home.
He gently took her arm and turned it over, pressing the stamp against her skin where she instructed. Though the actual stamp was grey, when he lifted it off after a few seconds, the mark left was green. Farrell nodded, admiring his own handiwork, "Nice colour, and a very visibly spot. Wish I'd thought of that." He joked, turning around to show her his own at the nape of his neck. "I know some folks frown on marks on the skin, but a Guild Mark is different." He promised her, "It's a mark of pride, no different from the flag we fly." It was also used for body identification if a mage died on a job, but he didn't mention that.

Jolene felt very reassured by the bartender, even if she did flinch when he gave her the mark. Looking at it, she panicked slightly as she turned her arm this way and that. Even if it wasn't a tattoo, she felt like she had done something very wrong. Oh god, what would her mother say? Maybe she wouldn't tell her. Oh god, now she wasn't lying?! It really was a slippery slope like they said in Sunday school.
"Farrell, do I really get a room?" She asked with awe. "For myself? With a bed? That I don't share?" The idea was so exciting she could barely contain her excitement. Actually, now that she was thinking more and more, it seemed a little scary...all by herself? She had never spent a night by herself before in her life. Oh geez. With that thought, Jolene figured she should go talk to Bash and thank him. "I'm sorry, please excuse me." She politely left the kind bartender, and spotting Bash, walked over with a little smile.

Plus, then you had to split the cash, and she didn't know anyone who was too found of that. here's my last reply to Bash as Grizel) Bash sighed at Grizel and re-positioned the bag that hung over his shoulder to a spot in front of him on the ground. "I don't care about any bribes. I'll be getting enough money from this job as it is, and I have a lot more from other missions." He frowned, unsure of how to ease the growing tension between the two. It was then that he realized that they were in an alley, and he had yet to see her use her magic. Either she was afraid to use it, or was waiting on the right time to find a way out from this. Running a hand through his hair, he grabbed his bag and dumped the precious cargo he'd been carrying himself. Various jewels and gold trinkets clinked onto the ground, their shiny surfaces glistening ever-so-slightly in a ray of light that had peeped into the alleyway.
"Handouts or not, you'll find yourself in much more trouble than running into a guy like me. This should help you for a solid month or two, depending on how you use it." His gaze that appeared over his shoulder was sharp yet held a soft glow that sent a silent message that he understood what she was going through, no matter how wrong it was. "I'm not just going to let you go, either. If you leave, I know that I've done my best, but I also can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved." He took a few steps away from her, but paused before he would step out into the opening. The ray of light that had shone onto his own treasure was now left in the dark and shone brilliantly across Bash's face. He turned back to face her and gave her a small smile.
"I suppose there's no way I can get you to join the guild around here?" he inquired. "Even with my 'handout' as you call it, then what? You'll go back to your shady jobs and always live a life alone with the small fear in the back of your head that someday you'll get caught?" He pointed to his head as he said that last part, hoping Grizel would see that she truly was living a poor life that she'd built for herself. "For whatever reason you left another guild or decided not to join one, I can promise you this: in the Yellow Moon guild, we welcome those who have their heart in the right place. I hope that one day I'll get to see you on the front steps of the guild. Either that or the possibility of running into you again and seeing that you've found whatever it is that you're looking for in a life led in the shadows." His gaze was now slightly less warm and contained a cold stare, to which he then shifted to the floor. He picked up one of the bigger jewels that had rolled away from the rest and shoved it into his jacket pocket. He saluted her a farewell and made his way out of the alleyway, not bothering to look back behind him as the familiar sights of the bustling town streets filled his earlier concerns with relief; now he could make his way back to someone that he knew was waiting for him back at home. He smiled at the thought of Jolene's sweet smile and bright red hair as he made his way through the guild to where she'd normally sit.
{Little plot idea: what if on the way home Bash gets jumped and held for ransom by a dark guild, and that would be the reason he a) wouldn't be able to get home to Jolene and create a small plot where everyone can use their magic to save both him and the guild from total destruction and despair?
otherwise I'm cool with just moving on c: }

Bash had just finished his drink when he saw Jolene making her way over to him with that sweet smile of hers. He held up a hand for her to high-five as she drew close enough to come in contact, and added a small smile of his own when he added a short, "Welcome to Yellow Moon." Little did she know that he'd watched her conversation with Dorian, and found himself a bit more relieved than he thought he would be at the words of the guild master's welcome. Now Jolene would be safe among others and he could keep an eye on her for awhile until she was settled in enough to accept her first job.
Sliding his mug across the table he had been standing by, Bash could now put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I can show you your new room if you'd like," he offered politely. He knew that although he was just recently made an S-Class, a lot of people still saw him as a helpful guide around the guild. He knew just about every inch of the large building, and planned a little tour of the place for Jolene and anyone else who felt like tagging along the next day if they were up for it. For now, all he would do is show her the room she'd be staying in and offer anything else before making his way back to his own spacious room, where he would unpack a few more of his things and adjust the room temperature to his cold standards, as tradition when he settled into any new place. Gesturing toward a large staircase that led the way up to the dorms, he turned to look down at the small southern belle with a quizzical raised brow. "Shall we?"

Jolene had to jump up a bit to high five her friend, grinning as he formally welcomed her to the guild. She couldn't believe she had done it, really. Without a doubt she was the weakest person in the guild, which was somewhat embarrassing as she wasn't the youngest, but she was filled with determination to be stronger. She would protect the people she cared about. No, not just people she knew. Complete strangers as well. Gosh, it seemed kind of daunting to become strong enough to protect everyone, but Jolene vowed to get there.
Jolene took comfort when he put his hand on her shoulder, the weight of it very reassuring. "Oh, yes please." The red head was suddenly reminded of how exhausted she was. Her limbs felt heavier after the realization, and she was surprised her eyes were staying open. Had she even slept since she left home? Probably not. "I didn't realize how tired I was." She admitted with a smile, rubbing her eye.

{I was thinking Bash's room would look like this but with a more old-feel to the furniture like this. c: }
Bash dipped his head in recognition of her weary state. His hand shifted to her lower back for a moment to guide her over to the stairs in case she grew dizzy from the exhaustion. Although the chances were slim, he didn't want to risk her falling as they shuffled up the staircase. As much as he refused to admit it, he had a growing soft spot for people who needed help, whether it was a shoulder to lean on or to just provide any kind of support someone needed to change their life around for the better. Looking back on just hours ago when he'd saved Jolene from that mysterious fellow, he was grateful to have had the perfect timing that he did.
As they reached the top of the staircase and came around the corner to the dorm wing of the guild, he removed his hand from her back and kept it at his side as they walked. It was a very short walk, but with his mind elsewhere, Bash found his mind on a long trail through the past. Almost passing her room, he jolted back into the present and opened the unlocked door to where she would stay the night. "Aaand here we are. Some of the girls did a bit of decorating while we were downstairs, so hopefully it's good enough to get you through tonight, at least temporarily." The room remained unpainted but held a southern charm with the brick accented wall and quilted bed. There were little pixie lights that lined her bed frame and window ledge, but other than that not much was included with the room. A table with three chairs sat by a mini kitchen and gave the room a lofty feel, much like his but only a lot smaller.
Figuring it was his queue to leave, he pushed off of the doorway that he'd been leaning on and gave her a quick wave farewell. "My room's not too far away; it's around the far corner and up that half a flight of stairs we saw before entering your room. Let me know if you need anything." His voice was soft, unlike its usual stern yet nonchalant tone. "G'night, JoJo." He shot her a small, teasing wink before making his way down to his own spacious split-level loft room up the next set of stairs. Once he'd closed the door to his room behind him, he walked up the set of stairs that led to his bed and small library of books that lined the walls around it. After picking up a book at his bedside table, he moved over to the bay window to sit and read it until the day turned to night and he had to turn on a reading light to make out the words sprawled across the page in neat lines. After what seemed like hours, he closed the book and yawned, stretching in a sleepy state and then making his way over to the one bathroom he had where he took off his clothes and changed into a set of pajama pants, leaving his bare chest and muscular arms out to catch the air of the open window above his bed. Making his way down the stairs, he turned to shut the lights off, making sure everything was in order before he slipped back into bed and shut the last lamp off that he'd turned on to read. He felt himself drift off the sleep peacefully, but the sleep that followed would be shortly interrupted.

(bruh that's super cool. oh yo I have a pinterest board for Jolene right here !) Jolene was blushing pretty bad as Bash had his hand on her lower back. She didn't ask him to move it, though; it was very comforting, and she found herself a little disappointed when he removed it. The country girl would've been lost in thought herself if exhaustion weren't clouding her mind. Walking into the room, her room, Jolene let out a breath. It was so beautiful. The girls in the guild had really done this for her? Everyone here was so kind...They had even brought her suitcase up. It looked so ugly against the pretty quilt and the fairy lights. Looking back at her friend, she giggled at the nickname. It was cute, and no one had ever called her that. "Good night." She whispered as he left, looking at the shut door for a few moments before turning back to her room. Jolene took her straw hat and placed it on the table, beginning to undo the two pleats in her hair. Changing into a big shirt and a pair of boxers with little cacti all over them, the poor girl was asleep before her head even hit the pillow. Unfortunately, Jolene woke up more quickly than she had anticipated. Bolting upright in her bed, she was breathing heavily, and her red hair was sticking to her forehead with sweat. A cold sweat was everywhere on her body, and she felt tense, shaking badly. That nightmare had left her rattled. What had it even been about? She couldn't remember. Looking around, Jolene began to feel afraid, drawing her knees close to her chest. She hadn't spent the night alone before...And even if this was her guild hall, the poor girl couldn't help the fear that was spreading like a wildfire through her. Without thinking, she threw the covers off and quickly left her room, stepping lightly as she climbed the stairs and found herself outside a door. Knocking quickly, and somewhat frantically, Jolene was grateful when Bash opened the door. Before he could even speak, she began, "I'm so sorry to wake you up, but I had a nightmare, and I didn't feel safe, and I guess I was hoping you could- I could-" Jolene didn't know why she was saying everything as she spoke quickly. Panting slightly, she chided herself. He was going to think she was so weak, unable to spend a night by herself, frightened by things that weren't even there. Wait, was he shirtless!?

{aw can I just *cuddles JoJo* you poor thing :c I LOVE her pinterest board ugh I wish I was better at navigating around pinterest but WeHeartIt is where I'm at heh don't click this bc it's totally not what I have in mind for Bash}
Bash had heard a knock on the door, waking him from his slumber and persuading him to get out of bed. Whoever was at his door, it had better been an emergency. He didn't like being interrupted in his sleep, but his angered frown quickly melted away as he saw Jolene's panicked expression. Without thinking, he found himself grabbing her and shutting the door behind her before wrapping his arms around her like in my profile pic in an effort to comfort the poor girl. He ran a hand through her hair and whispered a silent "Shhh" in her ear until her breathing slowed. He rocked her slightly, shifting their weight from one foot to another before he finally unwrapped his arms from around her. He lifted a finger up to her chin so she'd look up at him, his gaze lingering on her lips for just a fraction of a second longer than they should have before meeting her eyes intensely. "You're okay; everything's okay. I'm here now."
After he noticed that she'd calmed down all the way, he brushed a piece of hair that had fallen into her face and went to go get her a blanket. His loft was at a steady temperature of about 55 degrees, and he knew that in a matter of moments she'd grow a bit cold. After wrapping her up in a soft plush blanket, he guided her over to the couch, where he sat her down and rubbed her back to create more warmth for her underneath the blanket. He didn't want to question her about her nightmares, especially in case it was a private matter that would cause her more stress to even talk about. Instead, he offered her a pair of socks from his drawer and told her, "You can sleep in my bed for the night. I can sleep on the couch." He bit his lip a silently cursed himself for being such a gentleman around her. If it were any other girl, he'd take advantage of the situation and offer to keep them warm next to them in bed.. But then again, she'd come in for a different reason than any other female in the guild had. When he opened his mouth to speak once more, it was sincere, rather than mischievous per usual. "Unless you want me to stay. I can sit next to you until you fall asleep." His muscles were tense, almost as if he wanted to say something else. Instead, he guided her off the couch and up the steps to where she'd be sleeping for the night, regardless of if he would stay with her or make his way back onto the couch.

(bruh I love pinterest so much. you should give it a shot again. i clicked it and the gun lmao also your reply gave me LIFE UGH)
Jolene had flinched as he grabbed her, but found herself wrapped up in his arms, her head against his chest. She could hear his heartbeat. She had always found that comforting: a steady rhythm that assured her that she was okay, and so was the person she was against. Against her will, a few tears had slid down her cheek, undoubtedly landing finally on his chest. Oh gosh, she thought. I'm going to get tears all over this poor guy. Her breath seemed to get caught in her throat a few more times before she had fully calmed down, breathing slowly and deeply, enjoying the feeling of being held and her hair being played with. No one had ever done this for her before. She was always responsible for calming herself down...This was such a nice change.
Sitting on the couch beside him, Jolene finally took notice of how cold the room was. How did he willingly sleep in this? And without proper clothing nonetheless. Drawing the blanket even tighter around her, she found herself leaning into his touch. She told herself it was strictly for warmth. "I'm sorry." Jolene apologized again, faintly wondering if her lips were blue. "I need to stop leaning on you so heavily." Her voice was soft, embarrassed. As he led her towards the bed, she argued slightly. "No, it's okay, really, I can sleep on the couch." Shoot, she could sleep on the floor. The girl wasn't raised to be picky on where she laid her head at night. As long as it was safe. "I would hate to steal your bed from you." She mumbled, standing next to the edge of the bed. Her face was red as she drew the blanket even tighter yet around her, looking down at her feet, which were covered in too big socks. Refusing to look up, her face felt unbearably hot. Had she made a mistake coming here? No, she felt safer now. Exhaustion was already starting to catch up with her; she could feel it as she swayed slightly on her feet.

{heh I'm glad to see that you're as excited as I am about these two. Sorry if my writing is a bit out of the sorts, some of the sentences are worded very poorly but I'm too lazy to re-read any of them at the moment hah. I'm very VERY content with WeHeartIt, though. I can show you some of my collections I have for my rp characters later if you'd like.}
Bash raised a brow down in her direction, taking her short mumbling as a yes to staying with her. He found his cheeks grow hot, but it quickly faded into a smug little grin as he traced her eyes that lingered on the area of his body that lacked attire. He moved toward her, taking off the blanket that he'd placed over her shoulders and spreading it out over the bed. He then laid a hand on her now blanket-less shoulder and pushed her down gently to ease her under the covers. After pulling the white comforter and blanket up to her chin, he walked over to the other side of the bed, where he then straightened a pillow onto the brick wall behind him and proceeded to prop himself up against the cold wall to wait for her to fall asleep. The loft was completely still, daring even the slightest noise to interrupt its peace. He checked the time on his alarm clock and groaned softly. He'd definitely become crabby after a night on the couch, especially now that it was already two a.m.. As the girl's breathing slowed, he found that his eyelids had come to grow very heavy themselves. Just as the thought to get up and leave to the couch entered his mind, his surroundings became black and he doze off where he sat under the covers by the wall. If only he knew how much pain his neck would be in once he tried to tilt it back upright in the morning. That, and the fact that he would find himself a lot closer to JoJo once he woke up beside her.

(lol you're okay!! lord knows mine are never good haha. heck yeah i'd love to see those!!)
Jolene had some of the best, most sound sleep of her life. Tornado sirens couldn't even wake her up from this much needed sleep. Growing up sharing a bed, as she had only just gotten her own two years ago, the red head slept curled up tightly into a ball, taking up as little space as humanly possible. Waking up, Jolene found that she was facing Bash, her back to the rest of the world. He looked like he had woken up before her, and he was incredibly close...The blankets were already covering up to her nose, but she had the strongest urge to crawl beneath them, escaping from having to deal with the fact that she had fallen asleep in the same bed as someone she had met that day. Granted, they had bonded a lot in that short time, and she felt as though she knew him longer than a day. Still, she felt ashamed of herself. This was not what her mother wanted to do when she left for a guild.
Then again, a small part of her wasn't unhappy with what had happened. In fact, it wanted her to scoot closer and never leave the warmth and safety of lying in bed with him. Oh, jeez. She was really developing quite the crush on this guy! She hadn't had a crush on anyone since middle school, and she had broken poor 6th grade Jolene's heart. Deciding that she should finally say something to Bash, Jolene let out a muffled "Good morning." With a shy laugh. Oh, gosh oh gosh oh gosh.
