((Welcome back! As you can see, you haven't missed much.))
Andrew gave her a nod as another guard came over to help him escort Adelaide back to her cell. "It's the least I could do."

"Yes!" He said with a smile speaking in his primary launguage. "That sounds good." He said in Spanish as they got in line for their.

"Sorry," said Andrew in response to Adelaide's sigh. "You'll get another outing tomorrow though," he promised as he opened the cell door.

((Longclaw - We should probably come up with some plot for Remus and Lucas to get involved in so that they actually have something to do. Any thoughts or ideas?))

((That sounds good. Did you have any particular type of mission in mind?))
Hearing Adelaide's question, the second guard raised an eyebrow at Andrew. Andrew gave him a dismissive nod and the other guard turned and left. Andrew shut the door behind him, then unlocked Adelaide's cuffs. "Maybe not," he said. "But shifters are dangerous, and if you aren't with us, you're against us. As for why I fight, I support the progress the RedKingdom makes. I know the way they make that progress isn't ideal, but sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the greater good."

"The RedKingdom makes important discoveries," Andrew said with an edge to his voice. "We are trying to help shifters. I'm sorry you ended up here, but this is necessary."

((Only thing coming to mind right now is the rouge shifter tribe that we've been discussing but haven't actually implemented yet. They could maybe go on a mission to speak with the tribe. Only problem there is, we definitely would need other people in on that and other people don't seem to be around right now. So I'm also open to other suggestions.
Icestar, Nightwhisper,, Rainy, Tom - would anyone else want to join that plot?))
Andrew turned his gaze away uncomfortably when he saw the tears on Adelaide's face. "The experiments are to help shifters harness their powers," he muttered. "The shifters who have joined us know this."

Kurt raised an eyebrow. "Why? Did you have something to do with it?" He was about seventy percent joking.
Whether or not she had known it, this was exactly what Anja had needed to here. She wrapped her arms around Nichole and said as sincerely as she could manage, "Thank you."
Möer woke up at the crack of dawn, the boy still asleep beside him. Uncomfortably close, really. He inched away before shifting back to his human form and spending a few minutes stretching. Time to go hunting. With all the shifting they'd be doing, they'd have to eat a lot in the coming days. Inside an hour he had picked off a sickly fawn from a family and found a grove of berries. He dragged the fawn back to Christoph and started to eat a few yards from him.
((Dawn- Regarding Louis and Viktoriya, sure, but let's come up with some kind of plot for them. Any ideas?
Regarding the tribe, I personally much prefer the idea that it is found simply by stumbling across it. I don't know about giving the Kingdoms knowledge of it. How about we go with the original plan, and put Remus and Lucas [and whomever else wants to be involved] in battle, have them become POWs, and have them escape and come across the tribe in the wilderness? And yeah, I'd really like to be involved in that. I'd definitely make at least one new character [because goodness knows I need more]. I need to figure out which of my characters, if any, would be among the group making the discovery though.
Rainy- The tribe is an idea we've had on the back burner for a long time, involving a group of shifters living together in the wild more as animals than as people, totally cut off from civilization.))

"Me? No," Boris replied, shaking his head. "They only trust me to guard the place. I don't do all the running back and forth that these new men do. Too old for that kind of routine." He chuckled. The man wasn't really that old. At only 65 years of age, he was in better shape than most men in his generation. The only thing wrong with him was his back and leg, and even then, he should have been able to make a full recovery sooner or later. The way things were going, it seemed it would be later.
Nichole hugged the girl tight, relieved. She could handle Donald's, or whatever his real name was, wrath, but she couldn't bare the thought of Ava not speaking to her. The two had become good friends during her time baby sitting. To think that whatever connection they had was broken only made her depressed. But, that was one worry she no longer had to think about. Pulling away, the woman asked, "So, are we free to leave our rooms? I think I'm going to loose my mind if I stay here much longer."
Christoph woke a few minutes after Möer returned from his hunting trip. The little bear's nose twitched as the smell of blood was carried to him through the air. Opening his eyes, he was greeted with the sight of his grandfather was having breakfast. The sight made him sick. Now, he had seen plenty of nature documentaries, so the sight of bear or wolf hunting and eating a helpless deer didn't bother him. The idea that he himself, or any other shifter for that matter, eating a poor defenseless deer, raw, did bother him.
Sitting up, Christoph turned back into a human. "W-what's that?" he asked, even though he clearly knew what is was. The question was more or less the only thing he could come up with at the moment.

"Right." Kurt settled back, suddenly feeling very tired. Trying to remember his philosophy of always asking about others before talking about himself, he asked, though his voice lacked energy, "How long have you been with the RK?"
Anja smiled. "Yeah. I mean, we're not prisoners. There are places we can't go though. But I know how to get outside!" She'd never been here before but this building seemed to be structured very much like the base she'd stayed in for several months a few years before.
Möer raised his bloodied muzzle, ears twitching in annoyance at being interrupted with the necessity of speech, and shifted back into a human. "'What's that'?" he repeated in mild disbelief. "It's breakfast. Eat up, because after this you'll be responsible for your own meals."
((Schwarz has taught him how to hunt but never made him eat what he caught.))

"Not as long as you may think," Boris responded. "I got drafted a little late to serve in Russia's military. I was twenty and married to my beautiful wife for a year. She was expecting with our first child, but I had to miss the delivery. But you didn't ask about that. After twenty years of defending my country, I got orders to relocate here. Something about security procedures. I figured it was a rotation of some sort. Every soldier has to take his turn watching over this place. I've been here ever since. Occasionally I get leave time, but I always return here. I can't complain too much. It's not a bad job keeping watch for attacks. I could be out on the front lines watching comrades die around me in the war. I could be dying, but instead, I'm here."
"Well then," Nicole stated, standing from where she sat on the bed, "why are we still here? Let's go outside. I could use the fresh air."
Christoph cast an uncertain look between his grandfather and the fawn. "I-isn't there anything else we could eat?" he asked. His stomach growled slightly from hunger, but it wasn't because of the meal before him. There had to be some other kind of food source around. Maybe if they were going to cook the meat on a fire, he wouldn't have mind. At least then it wouldn't be staring at him with lifeless eyes.

Kurt nodded slowly, zeroing in on one particular aspect of the story. "And your family?"
Anja, leaping at the opportunity to be distracted, opened the door and jumped out into the hall. "It's that way," she said, pointing. "I haven't been through it yet but I'm like ninety-eight percent sure it's for general use. Oh, I hope there's a nice garden like the other one!"
Möer narrowed his eyes in disappointment. "Who, exactly, raised you to turn down food placed before you?"

"They're doing just fine," Boris replied. "My kids are grown up, had kids of their own and making me feel older than I really am. One of my sons went into the military, and he's stationed closed to home for the moment. That could change at any time, but I'm hoping it won't. They send me letters and pictures all the time, and the wife is trying to lecture my superiors to let me retire so I can go home. She worries about me too much, but what can you do?"
With a small laugh, Nichole walked with the girl towards the door. "If it's not and we get caught, I'm blaming you," she joked. She was pretty sure off limit areas would be locked so no one would accidentally stumble inside.
And suddenly, Christoph felt like he had said too much. The look that was being cast his way made him want to shrink away into the bushed. "Aunt Diana n-never made me eat what I caught if I didn't want it," he mumbled quietly.

Kurt smiled despite himself as he listened, finding it unexpectedly but incredibly comforting to hear that there was at least one family the war hadn't torn apart. "Do you want to retire?" he inquired.
The door, when they reached it, opened easily, and led to a wide stretch of grass with a long hedge several hundred feet out. A stone path led off to the side, wrapping around the corner of the building. Anja didn't hesitate before starting down it.
((Shall we kind of skim through this and get to dinner?))
Möer sighed. "You have been taught to be wasteful, Christoph. Not just of the nourishment you acquire for yourself, but of your skills. You see that, don't you?"

((Okay I'm sorry but how on earth is he a great-grandfather at 49? If he had a kid at 20, and that kid had a kid at 20... he'd have a 9-year-old grandchild. I mean, if Boris's kid had a kid at 15, then that kid could have a kid at 15 [little younger, actually] and Boris could be the great-grandfather of an infant, but...))
Kurt smiled. "What's her name?"
Eventually they came across a humble little garden. It wasn't as big as the one Anja remembered from the base in Germany, but it was just as pretty, and the grass was so green. By the time they returned, it was about dinnertime.
"You've been raised WhiteKingdom," Möer said simply. "You've never known anything different." He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "There's a berry grove half a mile that way. But if you get hungry later, and you will, you'll have to find your own food."

(*slaps myself for being stupid* For some reason, I thought I made him 68. >.< I'm sorry! Ignore me being dumb. He only has a grand-daughter.)
"Jillian," Boris replied. "She's the spitting image of her mother, and from what I've heard, she's a handful."
The trip to the garden did Nichole some good. Walking around helped her get rid of her restless energy that had been building up since they left the beach. Her first instinct was to shift, but since that was the whole reason why they were here, she thought that wasn't the best idea. By the time they headed back inside, the young woman was much more relaxed. She was still concerned about what would happen, but it no longer ate away at her mind.
The boy nodded quickly a few times. Christoph would gladly take the berry grove over the fawn. Standing up, he started to head in the direction indicated. He hurried, not wanting to take longer than necessary and make his grandfather have another reason to be disappointed with him.

((Okay, that makes much more sense. *thumbs up*))
"They tend to be," said Kurt, still smiling. "How old?"
"Food time!" Anja grinned. "Betcha I know where the cafeteria is too. This way!" She took off in a power walk down the hall. She wouldn't liked to run, but she knew they didn't like that around these places. Soon enough they reached an open area filled with tables, chairs, and the smell of something delicious. The area didn't look too busy; it must have only just opened.
Möer returned to his ursine form and continued tearing into the meat. He wasn't concerned about the boy running off; he had no idea where they were. And if he somehow got lost, Möer was certain he would be able to find him without any problems.

((Icestar - I like the idea on the tribe. And for additional characters, obviously some of us are going to have to create some new characters to live in the tribe. Does that plan sound good to you, Longclaw?))
--
((Rainy - There are plenty of shifters in the RedKingdom who know exactly what's going on. They won't be thrown into the cells or experiments themselves just for finding out what happens to other shifters. The only reason that would happen would be if they actively turned against the RK.))
"We're giving the world what it needs." Andrew said this quietly, but not at all uncertainly. His voice was firm, though he still did not meet Adelaide's eyes. He took a step back from the door. "I'm sorry, Adelaide."
--
((Night - Shall we jump back to the Archer/Jennette conversation?))
After watching Adelaide reenter the building with a pair of guards, Jennette took one last look around the courtyard before heading back toward Archer.

"She'll turn seven in a month," Boris stated. "It's hard to believe that time has flown by so fast." The man turned his head to look over at Kurt. "What about you? Do you have any kids? Or are you only a care taker?"
The enthusiasm displayed in her mention of food made Nichole laugh. "You should be this place's tour guide," she commented as she easily followed down the halls. It was a good thing Anja knew where they were going because she would have been lost. Every hall looked the same to her.
It took a few minutes to find the grove, but Christoph eventually stumbled upon the berry bushes. He scanned the berries to make sure they were all he same, just in case there was any that he shouldn't eat, then began to pluck them from the stems, handfuls at a time. They were sweet and tasted wonderful. It was much better than what he imagined how the fawn would have tasted. For he next several minutes, the boy filled himself on berries and tried to figure out how to take some back with him.
(Sure, Dawn! Where do you want to pick back up?)

Kurt's smile immediately dropped from his face, and he wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry. "I have two," he said after a beat, voice shaking. "One ten, the other seven."
They got in line to get their food, some kind of stew and smoked salmon. Large portions, of course, just as large as at the other base. Anja took up her tray and started walking towards the back, where there were several empty tables. She was not paying any attention to the tables she was passing, which was how she managed to be completely surprised when her father suddenly stood up and stepped over into the aisle, blocking her way. She came to a jarring halt, staring up at him with wide eyes, clutching her tray tightly. He was wearing the clothes he'd had when she slipped away from him, a white tee shirt and slacks, and he was staring back down at her with his arms crossed, wearing a strange expression she couldn't quite identify. A hint of relief, a dash of disappointment, and some definite guilt that he was trying to cover. His eyes flickered over to Nichole, standing behind her, and he said, voice tired, "I had hoped she found you."
Möer carried on eating, though he was in deep thought. The boy seemed fairly weak, like his worthless father. Though not in the same way, it was just as much a problem. It was good that he'd gotten to him when he was young. There was a still a chance to raise him right. He could still be an asset.
((Rainy- In regards to physical characteristics, they'd pretty much just be like normal shifters. To keep it simple, in the form, you'd just describe the shifter's human appearance. The biggest question we have to answer before we start that plot is how long the tribe has been there. I vote less than thirty years or so, so we can have a mix of characters who have never known civilized society, and characters who do remember it.
As for names, the idea that was proposed back when we first started talking about this was something similar to Tribe names. As in the Tribe of Rushing Water. Only in the language of whatever country the tribe lives in. [Also a big question.] So, for example, if the tribe is in France [where it was originally, but it could be changed], a member might be named Tempête à venir ["Coming Storm"] and go by Tempête for short. Although... thinking on it, maybe that whole system would make more sense if the tribe were older. Old enough that normal names are sufficiently far-removed for them not to be used anymore.
Dawn- Maybe we could have Viktoriya and Louis find the tribe too?))
