"Don't feel bad about it," Jennette said somewhat gently, noticing the woman's slight blush. She indicated to her own handcuffs. "They don't trust any of us." She paused. "So you're a civilian, then?" Jennette surmised. She shook her head in disgust. "It's sickening, the way shifters are treated in this country."

"A few weeks now," Jennette replied. "But it's not my first time here. How about you?"

Jennette listened to Adelaide's story with wide eyes. Of course, it shouldn't surprise her that there were shifters who had been prisoners here for so long, but it was still shocking to hear that this woman had been suffering at the hands of the RK for eight years now.
"I used to live here," said Jennette. "They were training me as a soldier, until I found out about their... methods. Then I left to join the WhiteKingdom."

"I found some files," Jennette said darkly. "Records on their prisoners, what they had done to them. One of the files was my mother's. They killed her."

Her expression drops and she frowns, head tilting slightly her curls falling to the side. "I'm so sorry to hear that." Adelaide whispers gently, glancing around with her gaze landing on Andrew who was still waiting. She began to wonder how much time she had left before turning her attention back to Jennette. "They took me away from my family, I still have no idea whether they're alive or not. My older brother was a shifter, they took him as well but I have no idea where." She was about to add that they were moving to go and aid the White Kingdom, but the guards were still around.

Adelaide stares at Jennette for a long time after the last thing she says. "...Maybe that day could come sooner." She says in a whisper, she'd just met this girl but so far she's the only person she trusts the most, and even then it wasn't a lot but enough that maybe she could suggest a plan. After taking a quick, discreet glance around she continues. "Before my family and I were captured we were planning on moving out of France to go aid the White Kingdom." She's hoping Jennette catches on to what she's suggesting without her having to flat out say it.

"It's something a I definitely ponder over a lot, but I have no idea the layout of this building. This is the first time out of my cell, albeit for testing and all that. I guess the less we know the better, but you must know how everything works around here, right?" She asks, absentmindedly tugging against her restraints. "It will take a while but I'm sure we could come up with something." There's hope in her tone and in her eyes, maybe after eight long years she'd finally be able to be free again.

That made her heart sink just a little, now that the idea of escaping seemed so close she was just itching to get out, but she could wait, she'd been waiting for so long now. "What's his name? I promise that we won't plan or do anything until you've learned of his whereabouts." Adelaide couldn't separate this girl from her friend, that wouldn't be fair.

"You've only met me today, I don't expect you to leave a good friend behind with someone you barely know." Adelaide says with a gentle smile, her head now turning to look back at Andrew again, she figured she didn't have much time left to be outside and that was starting to make her panic. "We can probably discuss this more later, I've been given permission to be outside almost every day for a little bit so I'm sure I'll see you again, Jennette."

Jennette nodded. "I assume my time's almost up for the day as well It was nice to meet you."

Remus nodded as they pushed through the doors of the mess hall. "Well, maybe I can help you with your English, y puedes ayudarme con mi español?"

"Made a friend, I see?" said Andrew as Adelaide approached, nodding toward the other girl in the courtyard. He hadn't been able to hear their conversation, but the interaction had seemed friendly enough.

Andrew wondered if Adelaide was hinting at him taking the cuffs off, but as much as he liked the girl, he would not bend the rules for her. "Well, it's not that far a walk back to your cell," he said brusquely. "We'll take them off there."
