Mai beamed, hugging him even tighter. "I wouldn't be happier anywhere else," she murmured, her eyes gleaming.

"Okay, then let's go. There's a back entrance, guarded by archers, but they won't dare shoot if you're with me in case they accidentally hurt you. So we can leave right now if you want?"

Mai nodded, "lets go," she murmured, letting him lead the way.

Aedan nodded, grabbing her arm and navigating through the hallways. He stopped in front of a large door.
"When I open this door, get ready to run."
With that, he pushed open the door and began to sprint, still holding Mai's hand, across a courtyard, where arrows whizzed past the two of them. Finally, they stopped in front of a second doorway. This would lead them to freedom

Mai gulped, as she stared out the gate. Did she really want to give up her old life? Of course she did. She approached the gate cautiously and pulled at the handle, slowly but surely opening the heavy gate.

As the pair ducked out, dodging the last of the arrows, and emerged into freedom, he turned to Mai.
"Mai" Aedan began "this is your last chance to back out. Are you sure you want to do this? We still have time to go back. But from now on, we are fugitives. So you have to decide now before we leave"

Mai turned around to look back, her expression hard to read. "I'm doing this and I'm doing it with you," she beamed, grabbing his hand and running through the gate as if she had won a race.

"Good - then we leave now for the port" Aedan smiled, running through the streets with her, grinning and exhilarated. They were one step away from freedom. One step away

Mai grinned, her excitement growing inside of her. "What will we do when we get there?" She questioned, starting to worry they wouldn't make it
(Sorry for the constant poofs D:)

"Anything you want. We can return to my old tribe, join a new tribe, or even start our own if you wanted. Build a little home in a valley somewhere, hidden away from everyone else" Aedan replied as he began leading the way through the streets.

"I guess we'll decide when we get there," she murmured, lost in thought. As they made their way there she noticed that her knees were covered in small cuts and scrapes from when she had tripped on the ladder. She quickly covered them with her dress, which was also tattered from the running and falling.

"Are you alright?" Aedan asked "It seems that you have some injuries, and it won't do to let any cuts get infected. Perhaps I should get these cleaned and bandaged up for you before we leave"

Mai gulped. She shook her head, "I'm fine, it's just a few scrapes." she murmured. Suddenly she gasped, gazing in the distance. "Is that the port?!"
She had never seen the streets that went out of her father's boundaries before, making it seem alien to her.

(Omg god I'm so sorry I lost the thread!)
Aedan nodded when she looked into the distance. When he saw the port he was surprised to feel the hairs in his skin stand on end, goosebumps rising on his arms.
"Yes, it is" he replied "I haven't been there since I was first brought here, five years ago."
He couldn't believe he still felt fear, but seeing the port brought back familiar emotions, feelings he thought he had lost five years ago. Feelings he hadn't felt in years, but feelings that made him feel the most human he had felt since he was eighteen and just a boy really, not knowing what was going to come, where he was going. Missing home.

Sorry for the EXTREME poof!
Mai looked around. She suddenly realised how lucky she was to be there, away from the palace. It felt strange to be away, as if she longed to go back. 'I guess this is going to be my last day here,' she murmured, looking back to where they came from.
(Should we skip to when they are travelling?)

Aedan has successfully sneaked himself and Mai on board the ship,, and had led hr down into the hold, where they would hopefully not be found before the voyage was gone. He sat her down and hunted around for some furs, and he gave one to her and kept one for himself, hoping it would keep them warm on the journey, especially as they approached Britain, which would be colder than anything Mai was used to

Mai beamed, snuggling up against the fur. "Thank you," she spoke, her voice low in fear that someone would find them. She couldn't wait to finally see the foreign country she had heard so much about and meet his people. Although, deep inside she was nervous. What would they think of her, part of the people who enslaved their family and sent them away to spend their lives in agony. Even worse, she only knew one language and even then she couldn't read or write due to spending her life locked away in her father's little bubble.

Aedan glanced at her, eyebrows raised in concern "You look nervous. Are you okay? There is nothing to fear - it will all be fine, I have no doubt"
Of course, he couldn't guarantee that everything would go to plan. He couldn't even guarantee that his people would accept Mai. But he had to try. He just had to try. Otherwise what would all of this have been for?

Mai turned towards him. She nodded, wrapping herself in the furs due to the rising cold. "It must be night by now, all the lights are turned out.." she murmured, trying to change the subject.

Aedan nodded "Yes, but it's hard to tell what time of day it is when you're down here - it gets dark quickly because you don't get much light from the outside when you're below deck."
It was already dark. Aedan knew what it was like to be below deck on these ships. It was dark and cold and wet. But it would be bearable with Mai by his side. Bearable like it wasn't five years ago.
[No problem!]

"Oh, right" she nodded, looking up at the 'ceiling'. Her hair hung loosely from her head, royal stones poking out from the mess, almost making her seem like another person. She was almost never seen in a mess, to keep her father's image. She was always disgusted by her father's personality, but she never had the guts to rebel against him. He always shut her out from 'real life' so he could show her off as a precious stone, rather than a person.

Aedan smiled, raching over to take off the stones adorning her hair, letting it hang loosely around her shoulders. He had never seen it like that before, and he smiled.
"I like it a lot like this" he grinned "You suit it"
