Mai looked up at Aedan, still dizzy. "It's probably just a cold.." she murmured, getting up weakly. Her skin was pale to an almost grey colour and her movements were rather wobbly. She stood up, her hair draping over her face as she moved. She felt bad, promising a tour and then turning up like a limp manikin.

[It's no problem, I'll just reply as if she said 'it's probably nothing' XD It's totally fine, just confused me for a second haha]
"I do not think it is," Felix replied gently "Let me help you back to your room, and I will call for a physician"
He approached her, gently letting her lean on his shoulder as he guided her back to her room and helped her onto her bed.

Mai nodded a thanks, her head still playing tricks with her. She sat back, her eyes going fuzzy "My head hurts..." she murmured before falling asleep in the warmth of her bed, unable to help herself.
(what should we do on the plot side of the rp because I feel like I'm wandering blindly with no goal now xD)

[Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. This could be hard.
Okay, so if you want they could develop a relationship over time, perhaps learning more about each other, we could throw a little romance in there?
They could run away together to Britain or something, idk?
We could do something pretty tragic… I have an idea for a pretty sad route but idk if you wanna do that…]
When she was asleep Felix left, hurrying through the halls to try and find a physician to help Mai. He was concerned that there was something wrong, and he just wanted to help her.

[That would be interesting, what's your idea? Usually though I don't like tragic stuff because it usually ends up with a character dying or relationships being destroyed, but eh I might give it a chance]
Mai slept soundly, despite being sick, laying on her side while hugging her knees to keep warm. After a while she blinked an eye open, glancing around the room. From outside her room she could hear footsteps, most likely Aeden's. Her body seemed drained of colour, turning a ghostly white.
[Just a heads up, she hasn't got a deadly disease like cancer, but it also isn't a cold, it's more of a feaver type disease so it'll only last for a few days to a week]

[IDK I figured maybe people could get suspicious because she got ill the same time as Felix came to the house? So like maybe they think he poisoned her, which is attempted treason. Basically, though, he'd probably end up killed. Maybe one of the happier options?]
The physician entered the room while Mai slept soundly, checking her. When he left her room Aedan was waiting outside.
"It is just a fever" the doctor explained "not likely to be fatal. Just keep her ladyship warm and fed, and keep a watch over her. She will just need a few days of bed rest, most likely. But if she gets worse or if she is still ill after a week, send for me"
Aedan nodded, and set about tending Mai. He put furs over her covers to keep her warm, brought her warm food, and then just sat beside her, cooling her warm brow with a wet rag.

[Happier option pls xD]
Mai curled up in the blanket like a newborn puppy, smiling warmly. "Th-thanks Aedan. You really are an Angel" she mumbled, feeling bad that he did so much for her. "Sorry for being such a burden, I'm not usually sick like this.."

[Yeah, okay, so they get to know each other, maybe throw a little romance, maybe the romance gets intense and they runs way to Britain XD We'll go with the flow and see how it goes]
Aedan laughed softly "Mai, you saved my life. I am nursing your fever. I owe you much more than I can give."
He did not want to bring into this the fact that he was in her service, and she could never be a burden, simply because it was his job to take care of her. Well, unpaid job. More of a task, really.

Mai smiled warmly. Aedan was different to the rest of the slaves, she liked that. He was unique. "Hey Aedan.. You know alot about me, well all that there is to know about me, but I know close to nothing about you.. I was just wondering... What is it like to be normal, not cooped up in a castle. Where were you before you became a... Slave. Sorry if it upsets you but I'm really curious.." she mumbled, looking up at him.

Aedan shook his head "It is fine, it does not upset me.Well, I suppose I should first saw that obviously I come from somewhere very different from you, where the society is different, and that I am liable to think more fondly of my home when I am not there, so I may be a little biased."
"I grew up in a village, part of the Votadini tribe, just south of Caledonia," Aedan began "My father was a great warrior and hunter in the tribe, and was greatly respected. I followed in his footsteps, and roamed the hills freely.' he paused "One thing I like about Rome is the hills. They remind me of home very much, even if the trees here are very different. Anyway, I was just fourteen when the Romans began approaching the lands of my tribe. The warrior training of myself and the other boys in my tribe accelerated. By the time we were to fight the Romans to protect our land, I was eighteen, but many warriors were much younger. It was five years ago, and I was fighting in a battle. I was injured and fell unconscious, much like what happened in the Arena. When I woke up, I was in bonds. I have not been free since."
He pulled a thong from around his neck, on which hung a piece of metal with a Celtic knot design on it.
"I was wearing this when it happened, and I was allowed to kep it. It is all I have to remind me of home"

Mai gulped, shocked by the story. "Why would someone do something like this, especially my people..." she gazed at the design, and quickly began rummaging through a drawer in her end table until she pulled out a rig with the same design. It was a rusted metal with the design carved into it. "It matches... I thought it was just a normal pattern. I found this on the palace grounds a few months ago," she murmured.

"Mai,your people did not get a huge empire through lack of violence. Nobody does." Aedan replied.
When he saw the ring, he nodded "Possibly a important Celtic prisoner of war was presented to your father recently, or a diplomat from Britain. But someone from my home has been to the palace recently. I cannot say who, for this is a very common pattern, but it is undoubtedly of my people. Why not keep it, Mai? We can share in each other's cultures"

Omg sorry for the extreme poof, I was making a charrie with one of my friends and lost track of time.
Mai nodded, "I guess I could," she smiled, placing the accessory onto her pinkie and examining it. After a few hours she fell asleep...
Should we skip a few days or even a week?

(No problem, and sure, let's skip)
Over the next few days Mai became stronger, and Aedan settled into his duties, moving from 24/7 care for Mai to starting to be able to spend time on his other duties around the palace.
Now for example, Aedan was polishing the Emperor's swords. After all, Aedan had spent many nights as a child, polishing his father's weapons. What different were the emperor's?

Mai yawned, sitting up in bed. Her fever was getting better, but every now and then she would get dizzy and have to sit down for a good five minutes. She walked along the corridor, looking in each room until she found Aedan at work on her father's swords. "Morning!" she chirped, kneeling down near where he was working. She glanced at the swords, taken for a moment. "Wow..." she breathed, staring at them. She had never seen them that well before as she was always out in the street, but up close they were just so... Fascinating.

Aedan smiled when she sat by him, and was awed by the swords.
"I know," Aedan smiled "these are beautiful swords, aren't they? You know, if your father gives permission and trusts me enough with a sword, I could teach you how to use one of these, if you would like me to?"

Mai looked up. "You would?" she gasped. She then looked back at the swords in awe. "I don't know.. My dad would probably start rambling about how delicate I was and how if I tried it I would get hurt." she giggled, imitating her father. "But I think you could easily earn his trust, you're a great guy," she assured him, still staring at the collection of weapons.

Aedan smiled "Trust me, I've been training with weapons since I could walk. And you are a lot less delicate than you think you are. I have a feeling you would be great with one of these. It would be better if you ask him, of course when you are better, because I still don't think he would trust me if I asked"

"You really think so?" Mai gulped. "Well... I guess I could try" she murmured, examining one of them. "I used to pretend I was a tiger when I was little, and my father would chase me around my room, pretending to hunt me down, that's the closest I've ever been to a real fight really."
Mai glanced behind her, hearing someone call her name. She stood up and peered around the door only to see nothing. "And now I'm losing my mind..." She muttered, kneeling back down next to Aedan.

Aedan smiled "Yes, hardly a real fight. But no less endearing because of it."
When she had thought she heard someone calling her name, Aedan smiled "It's probably just the after-effects of the fever. It can often confuse the brain"

Mai nodded. "You know, I always wonder.. Is it normal for a high rank to be friends with a slave? I assume not but I like to think that in the past, there were no low or high ranks, everyone just was equal..." she mumbled, still knelt down next to him. "Or maybe It's my fever talking..."

Aedan shook his head "What we have isn't normal, and is probably against a few social rules. But I agree that everyone should be equal, and everyone's lives should be their own. I like you and would happily serve you, but I spent 5 years as a gladiator, being the property of the Emperor's but being able to do nothing but risk yourself for entertainment. At least here I am doing things to help people"

Mai nodded. It was a hard truth but at least he was still alive. Suddenly, without warning, she hugged Aedan, unable to contain herself. "If you hadn't survived that day I wouldn't be able to forgive myself Aedan. You are the best friend someone could ask for," she blurted out, not regretting it a bit.

Aedan smiled, hugging her in return "No, you are the best friend anyone could ask for. In a place where I have been seen as no better than an animal for 5 years, you have treated me with kindness, generosity and respect. Not to forget that you saved my life. You were the one person in many thousands to care about me"

Mai clung onto Aedan as if she were a little child holding onto their teddy. "Promise that you will never leave," she sobbed, unable to even think about if he had to leave some day.
