Aedan smiled "I can't promise I'll never leave, but I can promise that I'll never leave you. And I won't, no matter what happens"

sorry for the poof D:
Mai smiled, still clinging onto him, "I had a dream last night that you had been taken away to become a gladiater again, I was distraught. I thought i'd never see you again and just like that I woke up." she murmured. "I was so scared, even though I've only known you for barely a month,"

Aedan shook his head "Mai, with an injury like mine, I will probably not fight again. You do not have to worry about that, at least until this is fully healed. The only reason I would ever become a gladiator again is if your father ordered it"
(Hmm, we could potentially have him be taken to be a gladiator again and Mai busts him out of the Arena, they escape and run away to Britain, considering they're both fugitives in Rome?)

(Maybe the Emporer could walk in and spot her leaning on him and as a punishment make him a gladiater?)

"My swords? Are they ready?" Cane a booming voice.
Before the two could spring apart, the Emperor had entered the room. He caught sight of his daughter leaning against Aedan and he instantly went red withnfury

Mai quickly got up, staring at her father, her body tense. "W- wait!" She dipped her head in guilt, begging for her father's forgiveness. She stood up, putting out her arms as if to say that it was her fault, not his.

"I cannot have my daughter growing close with a barbarian slave." the Emperor fumed "I have a mind to kill you, but perhaps the arena will help you learn your place again. Just know, barbarian, that I will not be letting the crowd vote for your life again"
Aedan hung his head as the Emperor called for his guards. Sedan was pulled to his feet and dragged from the palace.
He had lost his freedom again. Wild fear filled him, panic. He couldn't go back to being a gladiator. Not again. Not when he had just found his home again.

(Sorry for the poof! D:)
Mai ran after the guards, yelling for them to stop. "Aedan!" she cried, tripping over her own feet as she ran. "Stop! Please!" she kept screaming but in vain. There was no use. All she could do was watch as her best friend got ripped to shreds. "Punish me instead! Please!" she sobbed, grabbing one of the soldiers arms, only for them to throw her off again.

"It'll be fine," Aedan tried to reassure her among the commotion of him being lead away, but he honestly didn't know that it would.
If he lost a fight again, he would die...

Mai sat by the Colosseum gate, kneeling down and watching as Aedan grew further and further away. She stayed still for a solid 5 minutes, sobbing. Eventually, she stood up, making her way back to the palace grounds. The next fight was in 2 days, what would seem to be forever without Aedan.

[Hey, sorry, I went to sleep, then to school, etc.
And I thought maybe the night before the fight, though? If she's gonna bust him out she could bust him out of the gladiators' quarters beneath the Coliseum?]]

( Ok ^-^ I thought that perhaps while the other gladiaters were fighting she could sneak backstage while he was practising and attempt to free him. Its not much different but it adds a bit of tension)

[Ooh, okay, I like that]
It had been two days since Aedan had be dragged away from Mai, and he was back to being a gladiator.
He had not been able to forget how it had felt to be with Mai, and his fighting had suffered because of it. Even now, as he was practising beneath the Arena before his fight, something was off. His swing, his stance, something was not as it had been before.
It was as if a piece of his heart had been torn away from him when he had to leave Mai

Mai sat in the Colosseum, her head in her palms. It was only a matter of minutes until Aedan would be fighting, and her father had made sure he was fighting the best gladiator he had. She glanced around the vast space, noticing a small trapdoor near the bottom of the rows and rows of seats. She crept out of her seat, making her way towards it. She slipped it open, making her way down a small ladder that creaked and bent as she walked down. Like cut through the darkness like a sword, throwing a spotlight on one of the empty cages. She looked around, confused to where she was. The entire way down she had been half unconscious, simply following what her instinct said to follow.
(Sorry for poofing, I had to make my mom dinner xD)

[No problem]
Aedan froze as he heard someone coming down into the area below the Arena. Who was it? A guard? The emperor, to give a final 'I hope you die speech?" before his upcoming fight?
He listened carefully to the approaching footsteps, trying to ascertain who was there

Mai stepped down the last bit, however her foot caught it the rope and she tripped, landing on her stomach in the middle of the floor. She crawled back up, dusting off her clothes before realizing where she was. She looked around, walking through the rows of cages cautiously. "Aedan?.." She called, uncertain about how safe it really was under the Colosseum with all of the gladiators glaring at her as she walked gingerly past them. "Aedan...?"
(See you then, although the hour is nearly up already xD)
(I won't be as poofy now btw)

Aedan heard a voice calling his name. A familiar voice.
He dropped his sword, running towards the voice, having lost every worry he had held in the last few days. Finally he reached Mai, and pulled her into a warm hug.
"Mai?" he said, disbelievingly "What are you doing down here? You could get in trouble…"
He was worried for her, not wanting to risk her father finding her down here with him. She would be in so much trouble, and Aedan…well… best not to think about what would happen to Aedan

Mai pressed her face into his shoulder, sobbing. "What am I going to do?" she cried, "This is probably the last time I'll see you..." she trailed off, tears running down her cheek. "I don't want to say goodbye."

Aedan pulled her in closer, resting his chin atop her head as she sobbed into his shoulder "I know, Mai. But you know what. I'm not scared. I'm just sad that this has to be goodbye…"
There was a moment there of thinking, before an idea hit Aedan and it beamed "Mai, what if it didn't have to be goodbye? What would you be willing to do for this not to be goodbye?"

Mai looked up. "I'd do anything." she murmured, "Even if it meant I had to become a peasant and live on the street, I'd do it."

"Run away with me." Aedan said quickly, before he could think better of it "Let us board a boat to Britain and run away. You always wanted to see my homeland, didn't you? Well, now you have your chance"
