NEWS:
Shadowclan
- Opalmist's connection to Starclan was severed due to her breaking the medicine code by having kits with a Skyclan tom, Frostyfoot. Opalmist was banished at a gathering when the secret was revealed, leaving Shadowclan without a medicine cat apprentice.
- A destructive fire spread through ShadowClan and the rest of the clans. Snowdance was nearly trapped in the flames, but thanks to the bravery of Vixenflame and Burninghope, she survived. Opalmist and Snowdance worked hard to treat their clanmates.
-Snowdance was becoming more and more aggravated with Ashrock's stay in her den, and confronted Cedarstar about the matter. They had a quarrel, but seemed to calm themselves and return to conversing calmly.
-Opalmist gave birth to three kits, Dreamkit, Echokit and Whisperkit. Knowing she was needed in ShadowClan, Opalmist agreed to allow the father of her kits, Frostyfoot, take them back to Skyclan under the assumption that their mother was a random rogue. Opalmist returned to ShadowClan, and no cat from either clan knew of their secret affair. Opalmist returned to her duties promptly.
- Shadowclan is struck with dreadful Greencough! Taking the lives of several cats, Snowdance and Opalmist are doing their best to heal their clanmates!
-Something's up with Northstar...she seems to be having memory loss...
Riverclan
- Specklecreek has left Riverclan to follow a lead on a journey supposedly sent by Starclan, leaving Quietpaw as the temporary sole medicine cat for Riverclan. During this time, Ivymask and Salmonsplash met a loner named Alder, who happens to have extensive healing knowledge.
- A destructive fire spread through Riverclan and the rest of the clans. Specklecreek and Troutpaw were able to escape unharmed, with the assistance of the clan's plentiful apprentices to save as many herbs as possible. The medicine cats worked hard to treat their clanmates.
- Troutpaw is Riverclan's next Medicine Cat Apprentice!
- Runningpaw vanished from Riverclan. At the loss of their medicine cats, Specklepaw was destined to take over the role. Peachdapple of Thunderclan was able to train her in the ways of Medicine through their shared dreams. Starclan accepted Specklepaw as the medicine cat of Riverclan, and she earned her full name, Specklecreek.
- In the midst of Flarefur's passing, Runningpaw is left as Riverclan's sole medicine cat.
- Earthstar, Icepath and other Riverclan cats are recovering from Greencough!
-Earthstar, Ivymask and Icepath talked about an idea to ask one of Thunderclan's medicine cats to temporarily mentor Runningpaw. It will be looked upon more later.
Thunderclan
- Peachdapple joined Yarrowcloud to confront their father in the Dark Forest, and while Peachdapple escaped with her life, her brother was not so lucky. Peachdapple is confident that Starclan will find a way to get Yarrowcloud's soul out of the Dark Forest. Additionally, Peachdapple is convinced that Starclan is warning her of her impending death.
- A destructive fire spread through Thunderclan and the rest of the clans. Peachdapple and Aspenfall escaped unharmed, aided by apprentices in carrying as many herbs as they could to Sunningrocks. The medicine cats worked hard to treat all their clanmates. Milkweed seems to soothe burns very well, but the plant is not as common as other herbs. The medicine cats were also able to tell that Lightningstar had lost a life in the fire.
- Slatesight's secret was revealed to the clan, and in turn, his position as Medicine Cat Apprentice was revoked. His son, Aspenfall, had taken interest in the ways of Medicine moons ago, but was unable to obtain the position. Vowing to not make the mistake his father did, Aspenfall gave up his Warriorhood and became Thunderclan's next Medicine Cat Apprentice!
- It seems that Peachdapple is aware of the fact that the father of Mapleleaf's kits is her apprentice, Slatesight! Even so, she is giving him another chance to truly choose his loyalties, and will keep his secret.
- A bought of Greencough has struck Thunderclan. Luckily only a few cats are sick, but both medicine cats are working hard to cure it.
Windclan
- Eclipsesky's connection to Starclan was severed, and he has stepped down as medicine cat of Windclan. Meanwhile, Clovekit is determined to one day become Dawnshadow's apprentice and Windclan's medicine cat apprentice!
- A destructive fire spread through Windclan and the rest of the clans. Eclipsesky and Dawnshadow escaped unharmed, though it seems that Eclipsesky had a lot of personal feelings for the short return of Stormfury, as well as the presence of Silverspirit. Even so, Dawnshadow successfully helped Heathersky give birth, and the two medicine cats worked hard to treat as many of their clanmates as they could.
- Dawnpaw has completed her training, and was given her full Medicine Cat name by the favor of Starclan, Dawnshadow! Eclipsesky and Dawnshadow did receive a rather chilling warning though, and there may be danger present in Windclan!
- Eclipsesky has taken Dawnpaw on as his apprentice! Congratulations, Dawnpaw!
- In the midst of a huge clan quarrel, Swiftstar and Dawnpaw visited the Moonstone. While Swiftstar spoke with Scarstar, Dawnpaw got some good advice from some of Windclan's former medicine cats!
Skyclan
- Spiderpaw has earned his full medicine cat name, Spiderbite!
- A destructive fire spread through Skyclan and the rest of the clans. Lavandersky and Spiderpaw escaped unharmed, with the apprentices helping to relocate some herbs. The medicine cats had their paws full treating their clanmates, and while Spiderpaw's snappy retorts were plentiful, the young tom showed his promise in quickly helping and treating his clanmates. Lavandersky conversed with her brother, Cliffheart, who had come to warn Skyclan of the fire.
-Spiderpaw is now the next Medicine Cat Apprentice of Skyclan! He's not your typical medicine cat, but the tom's drive and desire to help his clan was easy to see.
- Lavandersun is being visited often by young Spiderkit! Seems we have a medicine cat in the making here! |

Medicine Cat Guide
Disease
Whitecough: A mild chest infection, if left untreated can develop into Greencough. Very common, and usually caught during leaf-fall and leaf-bare, can also be contagious. Can be fatal to elders and kits. Use common herbs, and catmint.
Greencough: A deadly chest infection that has claimed many cats. Same as Whitecough, though fatal to everyone if left untreated. Very contagious.
Poisoning: an ingesting of a substance harmful to the body. Small quantities usually only a bellyache, large amounts can cause death. Common ways of poisoning are: Eating or drinking poisonous substances such as death berries (Kits are the ones who fall for this because they are curious), eating poisoned or rotten prey, drinking tainted water, inhaling too much smoke from a fire, and being bitten by a venomous animal such as a snake. Treat these bellyaches with yarrow or nettle leave, while mild bellyaches can be treated with juniper or watermint. If severely poisoned, cat may be unconscious for a length of time.
Rat-Borne Infections: Most common in Skyclan and Shadowclan, these are infections carried by rats. There are many of them, and one is called Carrionplace Disease. Burdock root is used to stop infection from bites, but the other diseases from eating them have no cure at this time.
Loss of Sensory Perception: A cat that loses one or more of it's senses, especially sight and sound, is normally out of the running for Warrior. These conditions are caused by old age, infection, accidents, or birth defects. In Windclan it is common for a tunneler to lose their daytime sight and sight in general over time, more common than a Windclan warrior. Kits born with a defect, unless born with a talent for something else, usually die at a young age. Kits with White fur and blue eyes have a higher chance of being deaf.
Joint Aches: most common in elders, the joints degenerate with age, causing pain and difficulty moving. Damp environments can cause the appearance of this condition, so apprentices must make sure the bedding is dry. Usually treated using daisy or ragwort poultices.
Toothaches: Caused by a cracked tooth, cavities, or infection of the mouth. Alder bark is used to soothe the pain.
Fever: Abnormally high temperature in the body. Not really a disease, but is usually a sign of an infection. Treated with Feverfew, borage, or lavender.
Chill: Most commonly associated with cold weather or being submerged in cold water. Although this condition is mild and not a disease, it can claim lives of kits and elders, and sometimes even warriors. Lick a cat's fur the wrong way to warm them up and get blood flowing again. Poultice of lavender, catmint, and feverfew is also a good remedy.
Cracked pads: Paw pads may crack while walking long distances on hard surfaces, or due to cold weather. Elders are especially prone to this condition. Treat with a poultice of coltsfoot or yarrow. Dock leaf poultices are also used to cool cracked pads.
Injuries
Wounds: injuries to the skin and muscle underneath that are torn, cut or punctured. May put a cat's life in danger if bad enough due to blood loss, infection, or damage to an organ. Most common injury, due to fighting. Minor wounds heal on their own in no time, but severe wounds need to be checked out. Treatment includes cleaning thoroughly with the tongue, stopping the bleeding by pressing cobwebs to it, and applying poultices to prevent infection and help it heal. Herbs used in poultices include goldenrod, marigold, burdock root, or wild garlic if rat bites are involved. If becomes infected, use chervil or horsetail as well. Pain can be eased with poppy seeds or willow bark.
Sprains: injuries to the ligament of a joint, caused by stretching beyond their normal capacity and possibly torn. Causes severe pain and decreases ability to move joint. Must rest for several days and heals on own.
Joint dislocation: displacement of a bone from it's normal joint. Medicine cats treat this by first feeding the patient poppy seeds to make them sleepy so they don't feel is as much, and then forcing the limb back into the joint.
Broken bones: usually result of an accident, such as falling from a high place or being hit by a monster. Cats most often break their legs, and while medicine cats try to bind the bone with cobwebs, the injury usually results in the cat remaining crippled for it's life. A more severe injury is when a cat breaks it's backbone, this results in the cat unable to feel or move it's body at all. If the break is bad enough, the cat will be killed or die shortly after impact. Riverclan use the water to teach the cat with a broken bone to swim and get mobility back, and this has been known to work, many clans will ask for permission to use the water before teaching their clanmates.
Burns: Usually the result of a dangerous fire on a clan territory, or intense rubbing of one's pelt and skin against a rugged surface. Some burns will heal with little trouble, but others will leave awful scars and patchy skin. The typical treatment for burns consists of pressing wet moss to the burns, applying marigold and cobwebs to prevent infection, and poppy seed for pain. Milkweed is a very good treatment for burns, but it's toxic nature makes it dangerous if the polituce is licked.
Smoke Inhalation: Usually the result of inhaling smoke from a fire. Smoke inhalation may cause long lasting shortness of breath, wheezing or coughing if left untreated. Honey is the best treatment for smoke inhalation, though combining it with Juniper will also treat breathing problems.

Yarrowcloud stopped before the Mothermouth, blue eyes gazing. He seemed unsure, bristled at what could happen, or what couldn't happen. He looked at Lightningstar.
"Did you wanna come in...if not...you ain't gotta wait for me. I already done taken enough of your time..." He offered lightly.

Yarrowcloud nodded, never taking his leader's jibes to heart. He entered the Mothermouth, feeling the stone and seeing a flash of light in his good eye, The Moonstone. He took a breath and approached it, laying down.
'Please' He thought, 'give me anything...' He pressed his nose to it and his vision flashed white. He could see the faint outlines of Starclan.

Yarrowcloud looked around, vaugely wondering if Lightningstar was here too. He paused, face straightening as he saw his father. He mewed without much emotion.
"Ah...I had expected another Starclan cat for guidance...many pardons if I don't trust what you done tellin me."
Wrenflight nodded lightly, mewing.
"I know...I don't expect you to...your mother didn't have enough energy for this visit, she used alot to see your brother."

"I ain't here to hear about my brother...I want to see my son. Tell him I'm sorry, for everything..." Yarrowcloud mewed with tired coldness, dampered by a father's care. Wrenflight shuffled at that, honest and to the point.
"He's not here. Starclan...we can't find him."
Yarrowcloud felt a wave of dread and anger flood in him. Featherkit wasn't even in Starclan?! He felt ready to cry, only to finally feel something. Fury. He bared his teeth.
"Why talk to me then?! You still want to see me ruined, you can't even find my son, you...He can't be gone. Damn you, you rat, he can't be gone!" Yarrowcloud hissed.
Wrenflight flinched at the tone, but swallowed.
"We think he may still be alive...we're not sure..."

"Look! I think that's a leader!" 4 kits were playing together, all kits of Acorntail. Sunkit nudged her brother, and Moonkit snorted.
"Never seen him before!" He sniffed. Sunkit gasped at his rude words.
"Lightningstar? Oh, it's nice to see you." Quailsong called over.
"Alive? He...could be alive?" Yarrowcloud asked, and Wrenflight merely nodded, the dark tom mewing.
"We hope so. Starclan could have found him, had he died early as he should have...so we think he is alive...it would be up to you to find him..."
"You're damn right I'll find him. I'll scour the Skynests and rivers for my son. He's alive...he's gotta be alive..." Yarrowcloud paced.

"Oh hello." Lightningstar glanced over before a white and brown she-cat stepped up to him. She let out a purr. "Hello."
Lightningstar brightened, moving forward to muzzle her. "Hello mother."
"You've gotten gray since we last spoke." Honeystem commented with a twitch of her whiskers as her son.
"I'm getting old." Lightningstar chuckled.

Homeusem watched him. "Sometimes it's best to never know. Mapleleaf has made mistakes and you need to be there to guide her and support her."

Yarrowcloud felt his heart race, body hum with a new drive. He had to find his son, or at least try to find him. He looked at Wrenflight, who mewed.
"But if for some reason you do not find him..."
"I will. Or I'll have failed. And how you done hated that, yeah?" Yarrowcloud bit out, and Wrenflight closed his eyes with guilty emotion. He nodded.
"Be careful, alright?"
"I thank you for your words...but I can fare by myself without you." Yarrowcloud stood tall, and Starclan began to fade away.

Yarrowcloud perked as his leader woke up, and his formerly dull eyes were lit with a blue fire.
"Starclan spoke to me. Featherkit's not there. He isn't in Starclan..." He started, paws aching.

Nothing but nightmares. Now I get a sign from Starclan telling me that he could be alive, that I have the chance to look for him...Shadowblossom would understand, my kits too. Peachdapple'll understand, and Silentflare? I don't really give a damn anymore. I want my son." He begged.

Yarrowcloud bristled, eyes narrowing.
"You. Damn you, I get one chance to make everything right and you turn it down. I don't want your care, I don't care how important I seem to be, but I'm not. And I'll say what I please about my brother. Starclan themselves practically want me to search, I don't want anyone else searching with me." He let his claws extend.
"You act so high and mighty. Your decisions have been wrong before. Gotten cats killed. Why, for once in your life, can't you let me do something!" He shouted, standing taller than his leader, as he had for moons.
"I wouldn't expect you to understand. You haven't lost a kit, and if you had, I bet my tail you'd be more than happy to go searching for it!"

Lightningstar glared at Yarrowcloud. "Shut up." He snapped at him, fur bristling. His eyes grew colder as he looked at Yarrowcloud. "Don't you dare come at me with oh you've never lost. I've lost a great deal yarrowcloud. Ive had to make decision that affect my whole clan but you don't think about that cause your selfish. You don't ever think for anyone but yourself. You mope and whine when you have a clan to serve and protect. i don't act high and mighty but at least I know how to set my feelings aside for the clan I am suppose to protect. I have been wrong but so have you . Where would you start? Hmm? Where on this grand journey would you go. You don't know. They gave you no sign where to go. If i let all my warriors go out and search for those they've lost I wouldn't have a clan to lead."

"Perhaps the clan would be better off without a leader like you. How dare you insult me so. I stood by your side when your own mate doubted you! Believed and followed you through Starclan damned Adderclan, lost my eye, lost my friends from rouges that you took MOONS to deal with! I looked up to you and you won't pass me the common decency to at least let me try to look! I can start where the bird last took him, continue on and depend on Starclan for that guidance you were so keen about." Yarrowcloud shot back, not caring anymore.
"Don't you open your damn jaws and tell me I haven't served this clan. And for what? To be called arrogant and stupid? To have my own brother want nothing to do with me? I would die for this clan and you know it, but how can you possibly expect me to sit by and not even TRY to look for him?" Yarrowcloud shouted in disbelief.
