(It's not even so much that I feel like I need to go crazy with replies, I just hate trying to rp on my phone, haha)
(I'm going to skip Sterling and Matthew until they realize Helenia and Selena are gone)
"Not completely," Helenia replied, but made sure the uncertainty did not show on her face. She was grateful Selena had come with her, however. The magician bowed deeply when the women reached the stage. "Thank you for your participation, Your Majesty, My Lady," he said to each in turn before turning to the wardrobe. "Now if you will please both step inside..." When they were both inside the wardrobe he assured them there was nothing to worry about and then closed the door. "Now, ladies and gentlemen, I will temporarily make your Queen and her Lady vanish!" With a flourish, he said some words in a different language and then whipped open the door to the wardrobe. The crowd exploded with cheering when they saw that the two women had vanished and the magician bowed until the applause and cheering died down. "If you'll excuse me, I'll just go and bring them back now," he said and then stepped into the wardrobe himself.
As soon as the magician completed his trick, Swanson started back toward the festival entrance. It wouldn't take them long to discover they wouldn't be getting their Queen back and he wanted to be out of the area before they started closing gates.
When the magician performed his trick, nothing happened that Helenia could tell. They were still in the wardrobe and it hadn't felt like anything had happened. Perhaps there was nothing to worry about after all. Then she realized she could no longer hear the crowd or the other noises from the festival. The door would not open when she pushed on it, and no one responded at first when she called for someone to let them out. After banging on the door a few times, however, someone opened it. The light blinded Helenia for a moment but almost immediately she recognized the uniform of a Rhysis military officer. "What is the meaning of this?" she demanded as the men pulled the women from the wardrobe and bound their hands. "You will not get away with this." "Oh but I'm afraid we already have," the magician said as he came through the wardrobe behind them. We are already miles from the city and they're probably just realizing that you're missing."
(I'm going with the wardrobe thing is more like a vanishing cabinet from Harry Potter, haha.)

(I know what you mean. I hate trying to rp on my Kindle.)
(Okay, sounds like the best thing to do. Haha, okay!)
Selena tried to match her Queen's calm expression, but her efforts were enough. She just couldn't mask the uncertainty that filled her eyes as she stepped into the wardrobe with Helena. It also didn't help that she didn't like small spaces, a fact she had forgotten about when she agreed to help with the trick. For the first few minutes, she was okay. Yet it wasn't long before her chest tightened as the darkness seemed to overwhelm them. "Is the trick over?" she asked right before Helena began shouting to be released. Naturally, she joined in as well. Her shouts fueled by her rising panic. By the time the doors were opened, the young women was so relieved she didn't register the man standing outside was from Rhysis. That is, until they were dragged out and their hands bound together. Then her panic redoubled. "What's going on?" she asked, looking between the two men before gazing at Helena. How she was staying so calm was a mystery to her. It was all she could do to not try and distance herself from the men in attempts to run. Instead, she forced herself to stand by her Queen's side, heart thudding loudly in her chest.

“Is it not obvious, my dear?” one of the soldiers said to Selena. “You’re being taken captive.” Helenia may have looked calm on the outside, but her mind was racing. Obviously the original target had been her children, but why? The women were ushered to a carriage of sorts. On the outside it looked like it had windows with drawn curtains, but the inside was completely shut off from the outside world. The benches were at least comfortable and there was a lamp providing light. “Don’t worry Your Majesty, My Lady,” one of the guards said with a grin. “You’ll soon be staying in comfort in the dungeon below the castle.” “Watch your tongue, Forton, that is not the way we would treat such important guests,” the captain scolded his soldier, and then dismounted from his horse to address the ladies. “My apologies, he is sometimes a fool. We would not dare lock the Queen of Hyde in a dungeon, nor her faithful Lady. My name is Captain Kleric. If you should need anything, please feel free to ask me.” “Are you taking us to your king?” Helenia asked, fixing the captain with a cold glare. “I’m sorry, Majesty, but that is not information I can share with you. Enjoy your ride.” With that he closed the door to the carriage and a lock could be heard clicking closed on the outside. Selena and Helenia were alone now. Helenia looked at Selena and sighed. “I’m sorry, you got involved in this because of me,” she said, shaking her head.
Back at the festival, the crowd waited for the magician to return from the wardrobe with the Queen and her lady. When nothing happened for a minute, they became restless. When they hadn’t returned after nearly ten minutes, people began to panic. Shouts of “He’s taken the Queen!” arose and people began running to tell anyone who would listen. Sterling looked at Matthew and then took off in the direction of his father’s pavilion, assuming his friend would follow. “Father!” Sterling shouted when he was close. “Father, the magician has taken the Queen and her Lady Selena.. I’m going to search the grounds for them.” The king was startled by this news. He stood and nodded. “I’ll send the guards to the town. Seize the magician.”
“He’s gone,” Sterling told his father with obvious frustration. and then turned to Matthew. “Could you tell, was that magician working for anyone?”

The color drained from Selena's face as she listened to the guards explained what was going to happen. Yet she refused to panic. If Helena could remain calm, she would too. Or, at least, she did her best. She was far to expressive of a person to mask her feelings. At least Captian Kleric held some form of politeness to his demeanor. Though it didn't change the fact that they were being held captive, it was surprising that he was making sure to assure them they would not be treated poorly. "Don't apologize, your Majesty. I joined you of my own will," the Lady responded. "I couldn't have let you go on alone."
Matthew heard the cries of the people the same time Sterling did. He raced off with his friend, not wasting any time as then made their way to the King. As much as he would have liked to investigate the stage, he knew he would need orders from the King before doing any major work. The Ranger shook his head in reply to his question. "As far as I know, he was working alone. However, if he's left any clues as to where he's gone, you can be sure I'll find them." Matthew was an excellent tracker, trained to see even the faintest trail. If there was a trail to begin with. If there wasn't, he made an educated guess. "I will go to the stage and look around. Surely he wouldn't have been able to completely disappear."

(Yikes, I just realized I had some random periods in my last post, haha. Sorry about that, not sure what happened)
Helenia smiled at Selena and reached over and placed her hand on top of the other woman's. "Thank you, I feel much better having you with me," she told her honestly. If only the carriage had windows it would seem less like a prison. Perhaps they would have even been able to get an idea as to where they were being taken. “I’m sure we won’t get far before the king’s men track us down.” It was hard for her to say if she was trying to reassure herself or Selena. Either way, she was determined to put on a brave face and deal with whatever was in store for them.
(I don’t really know what to do with them until they get to where they’re going. You good with dropping them for now?)
"If anyone can find a trail it's you," Sterling said to his friend with a nod. "Go search the stage. I'm going to go get our horses. I have a feeling this hunt will lead us away from the castle.” He left Matthew to his tracking and then went to saddle their horses. By the time he came back the guards had the people more or less under control and away from the stage so they could search more effectively. Sterling tied the horses nearby and went to look around the stage himself. “Have you found anything?” he asked when he was close enough for Matthew to hear. Nothing jumped out at him as particularly odd or out of place, but maybe Matthew had an idea.
(I’m fine with whatever you want him to find or not find, haha.)

(Lol, it was no big deal. ^^
Selena nodded, trying to take comfort in the Queen's words. The King would have his ways of finding them, she was sure of it. Besides, whoever had taken them would sure be setting a ransom for them. All they could do now was wait.
(Yeah, I'm good with waiting with them.)
Matthew nodded to both the King and Sterling before jogging through the crowd towards the stage. He spent the first few minutes inspecting the ground around the stage, searching for any signs of escape or struggle. However, with so much traffic in the area, it was hard to pinpoint whose tracks were whose. Abandoning the ground for the time being, he walked up to the stage to look at the wardrobe that had been used in the act. He opened the doors and knocked along all sides of the furniture. When Sterling joined him, he turned his head to his friend. "It's useless trying to find tracks of anyone," he started. "Too many people have been in and out of the grounds for the past few hours. The wardrobe is nothing special. All the wood is sure and there's no false paneling anywhere. The man must have been a real magician after all."
(Okay!)

Sterling cursed under his breath as he looked at the wardrobe himself. Just like Matthew had said: nothing. For a moment he stood with his arm crossed, thinking. There had to be a trail somewhere. Even if the magician performed the stunt alone, one man would not be able to smuggle two women through the kingdom alone. If that were the case, there were sure to be unknown men staying in the city. With the festival, that would make tracking them down harder, but it might be possible. "I might have an idea," Sterling said, turning to Matthew. "We should to go talk to a friend of mine in the city. She might have heard something from the travelers visiting the tavern she works at."

"Rhysis?" Sterling said, surprised, as they walked to the horses. “What would they gain from kidnapping our queen?” As soon as he said it he realized there was quite a bit they could do. If terms were not met or negotiated it could bring the two kingdoms to war, something Rhysis had been hinting at wanting for a while now. Rhysis wanted to take over Hyde, that had always been clear. The people of Hyde would never support a war without cause, however, and kidnapping their queen would certainly give a cause. “You don’t think they want my father to start a war do you?” he asked as they mounted the horses and started toward the city. He’d sent a messenger to his father to inform him of their plan.

"They could gain everything by kidnapping her," Matthew replied somberly. He quickly pulled himself into the saddle of his horse when they reached the animals. Waiting until Sterling was on his own mount, the man ave his horse a light signal, sending him forward at a trot. "Rhysis has been cooking up a plan for something for years. I have no doubt a war is what they want. The only question is, are we ready for one? They've had plenty of time to think up plans, train troops, make sure everything goes their way. Has your father been doing to same thing?" As a Ranger, he knew what condition the kingdom's military was in. It was a stable and intimidating force, but would their troops be able to compare to the Rhysian military?

Sterling was silent for a moment knowing Matthew wouldn’t really like the answer. “He’s been… a bit behind in military efforts,” he finally admitted, frowning.” The only reason Sterling knew that was because he was part of the king’s military council. They’d been urging his father to increase the training programs, but there had been no success. Lately the king was quite distracted with various personal matters and hadn’t seen any viable threats to their kingdom. “Now that this has happened he’ll have no choice but to finally focus on it.”

“Right,” Sterling said with a nod. Eventually they arrived in the main part of the city. It was much less busy than usual due to the fact that most people were still at the festival. Getting around was therefore much easier and in no time they had reached the tavern. Inside it was completely empty except for one man asleep on a table. Sterling was about to go ring the bell up by the counter when a woman with long red hair appeared through one of the doors. “Ah, Vivian. I was just looking for you,” Sterling said with a smile that Vivian did not return. This was typical of her, however, and Sterling was not phased. “We were hoping to ask you some questions.” Lowering his voice, he added, “the Queen and one of her ladies have been kidnapped with hardly a trace. We were hoping you might be able to confirm the theory.” “Who is he?” Vivian asked in an accent not native to Hyde. She looked Matthew up and down with a stormy gaze, arms crossed. “My apologies, this is Matthew. My closest friend.” Vivian simply nodded to a table in the corner and then moved toward it. Sterling followed and sat down. “So what is this this theory?” Vivian asked, looking between Sterling and Matthew.

Matthew hadn't been to this tavern before. That was something he should have probably fixed a long time ago. However, it was hard to keep track of every tavern and inn of the kingdom, so he didn't beat himself up over the fact that this one had gone unbeknownst to him. Once inside, he scanned the interior of the room, noting that only one customer was in at the moment and appeared to be asleep. The young man made a note to check in on him while they were here in case the man was faking. His attention was taken by the red haired woman who emerged behind the counter. Matthew gave a polite smile to the woman, unaffected by the gaze she gave him in return. He was used to such expressions by now, so he had learning to not take them personally, even if it was meant to be taken that way. Instead, he stayed silent as Sterling introduced him. It wasn't until they were seated by at the table that he spoke up. "We have reasons to believe that Rhysis is behind the kidnapping," he spoke in a low tone. Of course, their reasons were hinged on flimsy suspicions, but the woman didn't need to know about that. "Have you had any foreign visitors here in the past few weeks? Anyone that looked suspicious to you?"

"I can't say anyone looked particularly suspicious, but there have been an unusual number of Rhysian soldiers here in the last week," Vivian told them. "They all talked about the festival and how much they were looking forward to a particular event, but they never specified which event. I didn't think anything of it at the time, of course, because the festival is so popular and there are many events that take place.” She paused, trying to think back to all that had happened and the conversations she’d overheard in the days leading up to the festival. “One of the Rhysian soldiers might have mentioned something about a magic show. With the size of the festivals they put on there must have been at least one there.” As a matter of fact, Vivian knew several magicians, though none of them had bragged to her about being hired to perform at the festival.

Vivian shook her head. “I don’t recall them saying anything particular.” The tavern had been so busy with so many different people it was hard to remember everything. “Viv, you know some magicians, right?” Sterling asked, getting an idea. “I know a few, why?” “One of them might know which magician was supposed to perform at the festival and if they ever showed up.” He glanced at Matthew to see what he thought of the plan. “If we can find the one who was supposed to be there, they might be able to tell us who it was…” he trailed off with a frown. “If they’re not dead.” Vivian finished for him. “Just saying what you were thinking,” she added with a shrug.

Vivian leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms. “What’s in it for me?” she asked, raising an eyebrow and looking between the two men across from her. Personally she didn’t really care if they found the queen or not. If they did, nothing would change, if they didn’t, Rhysis might take over and she’d have a different queen. Vivian didn’t really care which queen ruled over her, they were all pretty much the same. “We can discuss payment later, Vivian,” Sterling told her, trying to keep the frustration out of his voice. They were in a hurry. After a moment of Vivian giving him a look, she finally nodded and leaned in closer to him and Matthew. “Myka lives on the east side of town in one of the houses off of Rue avenue. It’ll be obvious which one is his,” she told them.

Matthew nodded as the information was given. He knew where the place was, so he was confident they'd be able to find the man, if he was home, fairly easily. "Thank you for your help," he spoke, standing. "I will be sure to bring you your payment myself as soon as possible. If you ever need a favor in return, I would be more than glad to help you. It's the least I could do for your information. For now, however, we must be on our way."

Sterling stood as well and followed Matthew out the door. "I'd be careful about offering favors to Vivian," he said once they were outside. "She doesn't always ask for easy favors. Or legal ones for that matter." Not that it really mattered anymore. They needed to find this magician as soon as possible. "So, to the east side of town then?" he asked, mounting his horse.
(I'm going to try to work on something for Helenia and Selena and perhaps after they find the magician we can involve more characters or something.)

"As a Ranger, you learn how to work around such deals,L Matthew replied, giving the briefest of smiles to his friend. He mounted his own horse and turned him in the direction they needed to go. "Besides, I doubt she'd want me knowing her business. The offer was more out of politeness then anything. Yes, to the east it is. If we're lucky, we should find our man asleep in bed if we hurry." It was late, and if the man they were looking for hadn't been at the festival or any other job, then he should be at home. At least, that was the hope anyway.

(Will do! If you want to be the magician dude you can be. I just made up a name so feel free to change it.) Sterling nodded and then followed Matthew through the streets. The clattering of their horses hooves echoed between the buildings as they made their way through the city. After a while they reached the other side of town and, as Vivian had promised, it was easy to tell which house belonged to the magician. Sterling laughed and said, “well I can’t imagine he’ll be thrilled with out visit, so It might be best to try to persuade him first.” They could always turn to threats later if the magician proved to be uncooperative. “I’ve also never really had to fight a magician before,” he admitted. “It might be better to avoid any unfriendly spells cast our way.”

(Heya, so to be completely honest I don't remember enough about this plot to be particularly interest in it anymore. I'm happy to start something new if you want with similar ideas and characters and whatnot, I'd just like a fresh start. Also I wouldn't be able to start rping until the middle of the week next week. (Yeah for sure! I can do some planning but the rest of my week is pretty hectic with finals and mothers day and starting a new job, so I probably won't be able to actually start roleplaying until this weekend/early next week. Any thoughts on what you want to rp? I'm fine with keeping with the medieval/fantasy, but I could also do a more modern rp or something. Whatever suits your fancy.)
