(It was nice! I'm super behind on homework now though, haha ^.^' )
(I'm thinking the kidnapping could happen during the festival maybe? It could be the younger kids or maybe them and the queen and her ladies. Or just the queen and her ladies. That could be interesting too. Any thoughts?)
Sterling hesitated. The festival was a bit of a nuisance for him, but staying through it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, especially with Matthew around. "Alright, I suppose attending one festival is manageable," he said, lips curving into a small smile. "You'll have to tell me all about your travels. Perhaps sometime father will let me go with you. I'm useless stuck here at court."

(Hey, I'm so so sorry for disappearing. School has been an absolute nightmare and I was not prepared. I think things are going better now, so I was wondering if you still wanted to do this. I totally understand if not, I just didn't want to join any other rps before asking!)

(Great! Would you mind if we took a minute to sort of redefine the plot and whatnot? I never had a clear idea and now I really don't know, haha.)

(Cool! So I guess what are you looking for in this rp? Romance, action, adventure, all of the above, none of the above, some of the above xD I'm just trying to figure out if we should go with the kidnapping and starting a war thing or if we should do something else. I'm also open to any ideas you'd like to include. Oh and do we want to have magic/supernatural stuff?)

(Cool so we'll still go with the kidnapping. I still don't know who would be best to kidnap. Maybe the queen and her ladies? Or at least the queen and then the ladies could have other roles in finding her/doing other helpful things. And maybe tensions have been high between these two particular kingdoms and that's what pushes things over the edge. And maybe the other kingdom (let's call it... Rhysis for now) WANTS our characters' kingdom (lets call it Hyde) to start a war, though I have no idea why yet xD How does that sound for a basic outline?)

(Perfect! We can still start with the festival; I think that's when the kidnapping, er, queennapping? should be.)

(Let's restart at the beginning of the festival. I can't really rp right now because I've got homework to do and I have to study for a test, but once I finish that I'll post a starter! Or if you want to make one that's cool too, it's up to you!)

(Well that worked out well then! Ok I'm just gonna go for it I guess xD)
The bright, crisp autumn day greeted the festival guests as they began to enter the palace gardens. It was one of the few days of year when anyone was welcome into the garden, though the castle itself was still under heavy guard. Sterling was looking rather grim as he stood off to the side of the pavilion his father and the queen currently sat beneath. Much to his chagrin the queen had seen to it that he was properly dressed, claiming that even though he was not a legitimate heir he was still of royal blood and he must look the part. Therefore instead of his usual tunic and leather jacket, Sterling wore an blue, embroidered doublet over a shirt so white he was terrified to do anything for fear of ruining it. His step siblings had been ushered off to partake in the festivities, but he had no desire to join them.
Helenia was pleased with how the festival had come together and was enjoying watching the others having fun. Fall had always been one of her favorite seasons and the current weather had put her in an excellent mood. The children were being entertained elsewhere, and Helenia felt a little less like a queen for a moment, which was a very nice feeling to have.
Like all the other guards, Laidon had been assigned a shift guarding the castle. They would rotate so they would all have a chance to enjoy the festivities, but that would have to wait for the moment.
(I don't really remember what characters I had, so I'll start with these three xD I'm sure I'll have entirely too many characters by the time this is over... haha)

(Already getting ideas for other characters xD)
Helenia turned toward her lady when she approached. "I must agree with you," she replied with a smile. "Are you enjoying yourself?" she asked. "Perhaps you've been able to speak with the knight you mentioned earlier?" she teased.
As soon as Matthew came into sight, Sterling jumped down from the platform. "Why did I let you talk me into staying for this?" Sterling groaned to his friend, tugging at the collar on his doublet. He'd never been very good at acting royally as everyone seemed to expect him to do today. Right about then he noticed Matthew's cookie. "And where can I get one of those?"
Captain Jordan of the Rhysis army made his way to the festival dressed as a civilian, though he had plenty of small weapons hidden away. Most of the rest of the soldiers were stationed just outside the walls. With most of the guards focused on guarding the castle, the walls were relatively undefended. (Feel free to jump in with someone here if you want. I don't think they'll be around for long, but I guess we'll see)

(Hehe, so am I. XD)
Selena smiled ruefully. "Not yet, I'm afriad. He seems lost within the crowd, and I haven't been able to locate him," she said. "Though I'm sure I'll see him before the night is over. Or, at least that is my hope."
Matthew chuckled and handed his friend an extra cookie he had grabbed, figuring he'd want something to be happy about. "Because you never take part in social events, and I figured you might actually enjoy yourself once you stayed," he replied. "Relax and just go with it. It's not so bad."
A young woman dressed in a simple dress stood waiting for the captain by the entrance of the festival. She was a hired Ryhisian spy sent out to scout the grounds, which took only the first hour to complete. When the time drew near for Captain Jordan and his men to arrive, she left the crowded courtyard to meet with him. No one paid her any attention, which was what she had wanted.

(Woo!)
"Ah, well you'll have to point him out to me when you see him," Helenia said with a smile. She glanced over at her husband, though it was hard to tell if he was enjoying himself or not. With a small shrug, Helenia turned back to Selena. "Will you walk with me? I'd like to see if I can find Ariella and Drezdon. I don't want them to cause a scene or something like they tend to do." She'd bribed them with shortened lessons the following day for them to be on their best behavior, but she wasn't sure it would be enough. (Roughly how old are Selena and Matthew? I can't remember if you told me. Helenia is in her early 30s, Sterling is probably around the same age as Matthew, Ariella and Drezdon are 10 and I have to figure out Laidon.)
"I'll do my best,"Sterling said, taking the cookie. It did make him feel a bit better; cookies tended to have that effect after all. "It's a bit hard to relax in this getup though," he said, gesturing to his clothing. "I feel like this thing is choking me." Right about then he got an idea. Glancing behind him to make sure the queen wasn't watching, he unbuttoned the top few buttons of his doublet and loosened the strings on the ridiculous white shirt. "Now then, let's get away from here before the queen sees what I've done. Perhaps we can find a pleasant young lady or two to help pass the afternoon?" he joked, nudging Matthew playfully. To be honest, he wasn't particularly interested in trying to settle down at the moment, and he wasn't sure he would ever be, but perhaps he would change his mind when the right girl came along.
(I already dislike the captain's name xD I'm changing it to Swanson. It's his last name by the way. I haven't figured out the first name...) If Swanson hadn't known who to look for he would have walked straight past the young woman who had been sent to meet him. "Good morning, miss," he greeted her cheerily. "Fine day for a festival is it not?" Her answer would tell him if their mission was still on track and he desperately hoped it was. The king of Rhysis had spent so long waiting for the... opportune moment.

(Selena is maybe 27, 28, close enough to the queen's age. And I figured Matthew would be around 25.) "Of course, my lady," Selena replied with a bow of her head. "I believe I saw them near the magician hired for the evening. I believe most of the children have flocked towards the man to see his tricks."
Matthew chuckled as he watched Sterling loosen the his shirt. He couldn't blame him. The young Ranger had worn those types of clothes once before for an assignment of his, and the time in them hadn't been the best. That was also one of the reasons he kept to his own plain clothing. "Lead the way, m'lord," he said, using the term "m'lord" as a playful manner. Waving his hands out before them, Matthew smiled and let Sterling lead the way since he had already had time to explore the festival.
"That it is, sir," the woman, lets call her Juliet, replied. "Everything is lovely. I do hope you will enjoy your time." A positive report. That was how she was to let them know that the kids were here, and everything was still smooth sailing as far as the plan went.

"Everything is lovely. I do hope you will enjoy your time." A positive report. That was how she was to let them know that the kids were here, and everything was still smooth sailing as far as the plan went. (Ahhhh the week got really crazy really quickly Dx) (Those ages sound good to me to! Right around what I was thinking, so cool. Sterling might be a year or two younger than Matthew though.) "That certainly sounds like them," Helenia replied and started toward where the magician would be performing. Ariella and Drezdon always loved magic; they were constantly bothering her and their father to hire a magician full time for their amusement. Sterling elbowed Matthew playfully at his use of 'm'lord' and then started making his way through the crowded festival. He was a little bit amazed at just how many different things were going on. "Are these things always so... extravagant?" he asked. Since he hadn't stayed for any of the festivals since he was much younger, he couldn't remember. They were now near the magician who had a flock of children crowded around him as well as many adults. Sterling spotted his step siblings in the crowd and decided he'd best not linger too long to avoid any conflicts. Swanson grinned and bowed to Juliet and continued into the festival. He went straight to the magician, hoping the children would be there among the others. In such a crowd, it would be easy for the prince and princess to get separated from their supervisor and would therefore be easier to snatch them. As he'd hoped, Ariella and Drezdon were in the front row watching the magician. He made his way to a place the magician could see him and nodded when they made eye contact. "And now, ladies and gentlemen, I shall perform a very special trick that few have mastered!" the magician called to the audience just after Helenia and Selena arived. "I shall need two volunteers!" Nearly every child's hand shot up, her children included. "A special trick calls for special volunteers, Princess Ariella and Prince Drezdon, please step up!" He waved the children onto the platform he stood on and then unveiled a large, elaborately decorated wardrobe. "Now if you please, children, step into the wardrobe," the magician said, opening the door. Something about the situation made Helenia uneasy. "Ariella, Drezdon, don't step into that wardrobe if you ever want to see another magician perform again," she called, moving forward through the crowd. Everyone was staring at her now, some in shock to see the queen so close, others angry for stopping the show. Though they were clearly not happy about it, Ariella and Drezdon stepped down. The magician looked a bit flustered at first, but quickly recovered his composure. "Perhaps your majesty and your lady would take their place?" he asked, glancing briefly at Swanson. Helenia glanced at Selena before turning back to the magician. "Very well, I will volunteer" she replied. "You may do as you wish," she said more quietly to Selena, and started toward the stage. (I didn't know if you wanted her to be taken with the queen or not. Also, feel free to skip Sterling and Matthew until something else happens, I didn't have much for him xD) Laidon was just arriving at the festival. He hadn't attended one yet due to the fact that he'd always been living too far away to justify the trip. There were so many people and smells and sounds, it was hard to take it all in at once. (You don't have to reply to him either, I'm just sort of putting him there, haha)

(It's fine. The week has been hectic for me too. My grandmother is in the hospital, so I haven't been on as much as I have been either.)
(Sounds good! ^^ )
Selena smiled and nodded as she walked with the queen through the crowd. Every so often, the lady would greet one of the guest, whether she knew them or not. Everyone was enjoying themselves, so it was hard not to give a friendly remark here and there.
"Yes, it's normal," Matthew assured his friend. He had attended a few of the festivals whenever he wasn't out of town on a mission. "The King and Queen make sure there's something for everyone to enjoy. They do a great job with it too, if I do say so myself. I can't think of anyone who leaves disappointed."
(Sure, she can be taken. That way we can still rp them when Helenia isn't talking with their captor.) Selena ushered the Prince and Princess back into the crowd. When the magician offered that Helenia and herself to take the children's place, she cast an uncertain glance at the queen. Of course, she hadn't refused, but she could tell by her face that the older woman had the same uneasy feeling as she did. Not wanting her to go alone, Selena followed her friend up onto the stage. "Are you sure about this?" she whispered to her, hoping only the queen could hear.
