Jace was waiting where she was supposed to meed Drake. She had purposefully showed up ten minutes early to surprise him. She glanced around, rocking back and forth on her feet.

Jace glanced over and grinned. "Oh, hi! Sorry, no, only about ten minutes." She rolled her shoulders a little. Her eyes were still covered by the sunglasses she had worn yesterday, but behind, they sparkled with excitement. She clasped her hands. "Alright, where are we going first?"

Jace chuckled quietly. "Alright, lead the way, pretty boy." That was mostly a joke, which was clear in the way she smirked after she said it. No regrets there. She folded her arms behind her back, looking expectantly in the direction of the cafe. She had been looking forward to this ever since the day before, so her eyes were even brighter than normal. At least, behind the dark glasses they were.

"It was somewhat of a drag. I got into a fight with one of the other acts. Nearly got a lion sicked on me." Jace shrugged. "So basically the usual. How about you? How was your evening?" She tried to only look mildly interested and failed miserably. She really wanted to know.

"It's really sweet that you still live with your family." Jace offered, smiling faintly. "I wish I hadn't been sent away." she added softly, running a hand through her hair. To change the subject, she glanced up and asked, " So, you can fix things? Sounds like it's useful." Her eyes shone a little.

"I owe a lot to my grandfather, so I'm not planning on leaving him alone anytime soon," Drake said. He wouldn't have had the good life he did now had it not been for that man, and he was determined to pay him back as best as he could. Her comment, however, made his smile falter as he shifted his gaze to her. "No, I can't really fix things, but I tried what I could. Go back a moment. What do you mean by you were sent away?" He might have been prying, but he could tell that there usually was no good underlying meaning in words like those.

Jace blinked. "It's more of a third-date story, I only really tell what happened when I know someone won't shun me." She folded her arms behind her back, Rolling her shoulders for the fifteenth time. She was trying to stay relaxed, for whatever reason. In truth, she only didn't want to tell the story because she didn't want to lose the first real friend she's had in a while.

"If you want it to be." Jace nodded, thinking that a date was two friends hanging out and nothing romantic. She ran a hand through her hair. "Do I look alright?" she asked anxiously. Her eyes now shone with worry. "Do I fit in? What if people laugh?" She held her hands close to her chest, like she often did before a large performance. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

Jace still looked worried, but she nodded. "Alright, I'll trust you." she said softly before entering the coffee shop. She immediately stopped, gazing around to take in the atmosphere. She smiled faintly and folded her arms behind her back casually, humming softly along to the music playing faintly in the background. She blinked slowly, looking over the few people sitting around tables. She was trying to pick up pointers on how the outside world acted without having to ask someone directly.

"Don't worry, I won't tell you anything that's not true," Drake told her, smiling as they entered the building. This cafe, while decent in size, was one where you got to choose your seat and the waitresses would come to you. There was no need to wait, but it was still courtesy to catch the cashier's eye as you entered just so someone knew that there were more patrons entering instead of leaving. That's what he did, nodding to the middle aged man behind the counter before he led the way over to an empty booth by the windows. "Is this spot fine?" he asked, looking over to Jace. If she didn't want to sit by the window, then there were still plenty of spots elsewhere they could claim.

Jace nodded trustingly to Drake, then nodded again at his question. She sat down, taking off her sunglasses as to not look like a snob. She set them down in front of her and stared out the window at the hustle and bustle of the street. She glanced over at Drake. "Why is everyone in such a rush?" she asked.

Drake sat opposite of her. While she settled into her seat, his own eyes gazed around the room. One never knew when you might spot a familiar face, and it had become a habit of his. Now, that wouldn't mean he would have got up and left Jace to go speak with someone else, but he still just liked to know if he knew anyone around them. Her question brought his attention back to her. "People have places to be. Either they have work to get to, or they're leaving work," he answered, but whatever else he might have said paused on his tongue. His expression turned to one of concern. "What happened?" he asked, catching sight of the bruise around her eye. In a circus, there had to be plenty of reasons of how she acquired such an injury, but any injury he found cause to worry. After all, he knew the pain of many different types and could sympathize with anyone who sported similar marks, no matter how big or small.

"Ah." Jace rubbed the back of her neck. "I face-planted while practicing." was her excuse, blinking a couple times. She gave a faint smile. "It doesn't hurt anymore." she added quickly, using her hand to brush her hair in front of her eye. "Sorry to worry you." She put on a brave face. "Anyway, do you have a job?" she asked, tilting her head slightly to the left. She was trying to avoid the subject of her injuries for many reasons, but there was one more prominent than the rest.

"Oh, alright." Jace blinked, eyes lighting up at Drakes answer to her question. "That honestly sounds like fun! Do you get to meet all sorts of people, or...?" She was genuinely interested in Drake's life, which was unusual for her. Her gaze was intent, she held on to every word her counterpart spoke. She had a faint smile on her face.

"Oh." Jace said softly, going quiet after that. She hated when she didn't have much to say. It made her feel boring, not like other people. She rubbed a hand over her face and tried to relax herself. Again. Like always.
{{Sorry for short responses, I have a small headache.}}

Jace glanced up. "Oh, hi! Can I get an iced mocha with extra chocolate, please?" she asked, tilting her head slightly. She smiled in a natural way, as she always did.

"Um, no, I think I'm good." Jace rubbed her arm and glanced at Drake. Her gaze flashed around the room as an overwhelming sense of danger suddenly settled on top of her, causing her to become alert. She didn't know why, but her senses were screaming at her to look out.
