Okay, I'm also better at guys, but I can do a tomboy female, so I'm gonna go with that and do you mind if I'm the one trapped in the circus?

{{Okay, okay. *stress*}}
Jace was panting after her most recent performance. A jolt raced down her spine as her name was yelled gruffly. She knew what was coming, but she couldn't refuse to answer, or it would be SO much worse. She stood up and made her way to the boss' office, dreading what was coming. She was lucky that makeup could cover the bruises and cuts that littered her body, or she'd get even more of this far more often. About thirty minutes later, she smiled as she left the office, ready for her next performance. She stepped into the ring, strutting her stuff and doing the routine perfectly, as always.
{{This probably sucks-}}

(okay! Also, how old should they be? I'm thinking at least 17-20 maybe? And what time period? Modern? Or older?)
Drake waited in line patiently as he and the countless of other people filed their way into the heart of the circus. While there were others around him that were muttering complaints about the wait, he seemed to be enjoying himself. Everywhere he looked, there was something that caught his eye. From the colorful decorations to the people both selling snacks or directing and welcoming them, there was never a moment where he was bored. Then there was the noise. While he personally wasn't a huge an of crowds, he put up with it this once. He was far too excited about the show to focus on his normal anxiety. This was the first time he had ever been to a circus before, and from everything he had heard, it sounded like it would be amazing. So, he pushed aside any hesitation and trudged with the rest of them to the ring. Once inside, he quickly found a seat in the third row. Being of slight build, he had no problem folding his legs into his seat to allow other people to walk by him to claim their own chairs. There he sat patiently and eagerly awaiting the beginning of the show.

{{Modern, and Jace will be 18 anyway so}}
Jace was waiting in the wings, practicing her act a little, as she usually did. It wasn't too obvious that she was only wearing makeup in certain spots on her face, hands, and arms, the makeup was blended well. After she practiced a few times, she started pacing a bit. Two steps left, two steps right. Over, and over. She'd been doing this since she was five. She rolled her shoulders a little, agitating the fresh bruises. It gave her a rush of adrenaline.

(That's what I was thinking. I'll have Drake be 19 then.)
From where he sat, Drake took in the sight of the ring. It didn't look like much now, but there were a few items laying about on the edges of the ring he assumed would be used during the show. Some he could guess they they were for, and others he couldn't make out. Then his eyes drifted upward, eyeing the wires and the swings that would hold the acrobats. He smiled slightly. He felt like a child the way he was acting. In a way, he was kind of making up for lost opportunities from his youth. However, he had to remember he was a nineteen year old, so he tried to reel in his excitement a bit before anyone started casting him odd glances. If only his grandfather had been feeling well enough to join him. He was sure he would have enjoyed it, but the man who raised him didn't feel like coming. Not that he could blame him. It was scorching outside, which might have been a major factor in the people's complaints. Even inside out from the harsh sun, it was muggy and uncomfortable. Not to the point where it bothered him. Drake liked the warm weather and had dressed appropriately in shorts and a simple t-shirt. When his inspection of the tight rope and what not above him was finished, he tried to figure out the spot where the people from the show would enter from. There was an obvious path leading to a curtained off area, but that didn't stop him from watching the spot closely, hoping to spot any sign that the show was about to begin.
(If you don't want to, we don't have to go into details about the whole show. We can summarize and skim over most of it until it gets to Jace's part.)

{{I was thinking maybe Jace is the opening act, so that we can literally just be like "Jace is fabulous, then she goes offstage and boring stuff happens." Or perhaps after Jace's act, Drake catches a glimpse of the boss guy dragging her away the second that she steps foot in the curtain-}}
Jace peeked out the curtain, surveying the crowd. She tapped something in Morse Code into the palm of her hand nervously. This was so many more people than she usually performed for... She stepped back away from the curtain, moving closer to the trash can, just in case. She was starting to get dizzy. She smoothed out her t-shirt and shivered. This was not gonna be fun.

{{Kay-}}
Jace had actually at first not picked up on her cue, but then she was lightly pushed from behind and she quickly took her place for the beginning of her act. Letting the music flow through her, she distracted herself from the crowd, imagining that she was alone in an open space, trying to calm herself so that she didn't mess up too badly. Her act told a story, but it was only clear to those who paid attention. It was the story of a spider who fell for a human, but the human was afraid. It was never meant to be. The spider then drowned itself in despair, reincarnating as a great queen, thus realizing her true worth. It was an emotional roller coaster, just like all of the stories. Her movements were fluid, though much was left to interpretation.

As the act went on, she had slowly made her way to the very top of the tent. As in, the very top. She was literally almost in the peak. She then let go, tumbling in midair before landing in a crouch on the ground. She then slowly rose, making gestures with her body. Her eyes were shining as she finished up, taking a deep bow before ducking back into the wings to watch the next performance.

{{Kay}}
After the show, Jace milled in the corner, tugging at the lock of hair that was not pulled back in a bun. The hairstyle was uncomfortable, but at least it gave her something to help her settle her nerves. She rolled her shoulders bnervously, seeing the first few people with VIP passes walking towards her. She plastered on a smile. Here we go again...

The show had been incredible. All throughout the performances, Drake had found himself absorbed by the people and the costumes and everything really. Although he might have been passed the age of childlike wonder, he couldn't help but be drawn to it all. It fed a part of him that hadn't been fed during that time of his life, so he was glad to get the chance to indulge it now. Once the show was over, he joined the small crowd who, like him, had paid a little extra for the chance to speak with the performers, to wander backstage and see what it was like when the spotlights weren't on. He stayed near the back of the group as they entered. This gave him a chance to walk a little slower, taking everything in. As he looked around, he spotted the dancer that started the show, and a small smile formed on his face.

Jace was deep in conversation with a girl who was watching her with awe, hiding her discomfort well as she gestured with her hands, telling a story. She was answering this young lady's question in the most complicated way possible, her face flushing slightly as she spoke quickly. When she finished telling the story, the girl nodded, then moved on. Jace squared her shoulders and breathed out a sigh. One person, she could deal with. A group, probably not.

(No, it's fine.)
Drake waited patiently as the people ahead of him stopped and talked with the girl and asked their questions. While no one was really rushing them, he was sure that the ones up front had to keep things short so the others had time to interact with the performers as well. Which also meant as the last of the group, he could linger a little longer until the time to mingle was over. So, he waited silently. When it was finally his turn, he smiled and stepped over to her. With this close of a look, he saw that she wasn't much older than he was. "Hi," he greeted, a little sheepishly. What was he to say that wouldn't sound weird? "You were incredible, though I'm sure you've heard that plenty of times in the past few minutes."

Jace smiled at the final person who came up. "Thanks so much! Actually, I've gotten a lot of questions about the story behind my performance... There's always a story to tell." She continuously gestured with her hands. A nervous tick, perhaps? "The story I told today was a story I wrote myself, though usually I do fairy tales." She smiled sheepishly, shifting her balance. "I'll admit it was quite difficult to get the moves correct."

"Aww, thank you!" Jace grinned, rubbing the back of her neck, then answered the question with, "Since I was seven, actually. Ever since I was-... I mean, since I joined." Her breath caught a little when she almost slipped up, revealing more than she meant to was not what she needed to do at the moment. In a hopes to distract Drake, she said, "I'm Jace, by the way. Do you have a name?" and held out her hand.

"I suppose it's somewhat surprising..." Jace tilted her head, awkward now. She smiled as he introduced himself. "Haha, yeah, it's hard to get tickets nowadays. Hard to believe this started out as a small company." With a kindhearted boss. she added mentally, without saying it aloud. She hummed softly, somewhat out of topics of conversation.
