"I doubt he was disappointed." Though Luna meant it in the sense that Nanuk didn't necessarily care that he lost one soldier, Royal Guard or not. "Unfortunately, I would say it is a safe bet that he was more so wanting to be rid of you. Period." Perhaps Nanuk kept Hornet around for so long was because she'd never spoken up. Looking thoughtful, she remained silent until they reached another room. It was small, simple, but still managed to give a comfortable vibe. "There isn't much to start with, so feel free to decorate your room as you wish." Looking over at Hornet, the priestess smiled gently before asking "Would you like some time to settle, or shall I show you the rest of the place?"

Looking over at Hornet, the priestess smiled gently before asking "Would you like some time to settle, or shall I show you the rest of the place?" The young guard smiled and shook her head. "If you would like, I'd enjoy seeing the area." After all not only was her duty in protecting the priestess easier when she knew the area, but it was lovely enough to warrant a walk here and there. Hornet laid down her small set of things upon her bed and looked ready to continue.

"I am looking forwards to getting to it." Akriel said with a grin "And I suppose you are right." he laughed and placed his hand on his hip "I am not really the type to stay in one place for long, unless there is a lot to learn there. I will just have to get good at not drawing attention to myself." he then asked "What else would you like me to focus on? I believe I am getting close to completing the last task you gave me."
After confirming the bounty the paper was stamped and Eru and Buk were told to head to the nearest bar to collect their reward. Eri had put away her items and she said "We can stop by the bar on our way to eat. I'm gettin' hungry so let's hurry." she gestured for the other to follow her and led him out of the building. Taking a left turn she continued down the street. It was getting less busy as the day went on.

The owl smiled as she said "Alright, then let's get going. You can meet the others officially too." Such was necessary if they were to get used to Hornet. Leading the way out of the room, she made a first stop at the shrine room. "This is where many come to attempt to have their words heard." It was probably the largest room in the temple, with multiple statues and the like set about with decorations. There was a kraken, a unicorn and more. The two biggest statues though, about six feet each, were of a dragon and a stag. "You'll learn about the history of each in time, as there are no more than two or three born into each Mythical. Some have only one even."

Hornet gazed upon the statues with an ancient wonder and curiosity. Were these who her mother and father prayed to? She'd never know, but perhaps she could find comfort with prayers sent up to them. "Is... is the glutton here?" The monster she had seen in what seemed only moments ago, when she had made a terrible choice. The guard's heart sank, but she still looked for a statue.

𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚔𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛 The lion hummed as Akriel asked what to do. "You're getting the hang of the first task, so now I want you to push yourself. Go beyond slowing and stopping it, and get it to go in reverse. Guaranteed to end up in your hand again." Slowing time down was the easiest part of the domain, but to command it to undo itself was a little more difficult. Well, a lot more, but there really was no other way to go about learning the magic other than to do it. To expose yourself to it. "Even if you just get it to move back an inch or two is fine. And when you can get to that point, start on multiple objects. Small ones though." He then smiled. "That power of yours really is helping. You haven't really scratched the surface, but you've dug in deeper than almost everyone I have seen attempt the magic." The determination to honestly just learn was probably going a ways too as well.

Samandriel Luna blinked once. "Kalonymos maintained weather and floods, either helping or condemning people. He is prayed to for either good weather or for mercy during bad weather and floods." She was well aware that not many liked the leviathan, but he had made himself a job that got him what he wanted. Gesturing to one of the statues, she pointed out the one Hornet had been looking for, in all its coiled glory. There were still some gifts and goodies set there, which would be taken to the Cliff soon for the monster to pick up. "Some don't believe it, but they do hear us. And the lack of." And if the beast was offended, he would send bad weather cold floods that the air couldn't freeze fast enough.

Her eyes traveled to the figure, and her body shivered despite herself. She could still hear the child's screams. The offerings beneath the altar made her want to vomit. Who could pray to such a being? Even to pray for mercy?! "Will you teach me how to pray?" Hornet asked, a sheepish smile on her face. It wasn't real- but it was a play, one designed in hopes to distract Miss Rhayne from the fear she felt around the Leviathan.

Samandriel Luna tilted her head. "Oh, there really aren't any mechanics to it. Just... be sincere, I suppose. Saying it just to say it just... isn't the same." She didn't know insincere ones were heard or not, as she was not the one who could recieve the words, but it was just her speculation. Sensing Hornet's unease, she gently guided her over to some of the other statues, some that were known for their good or heroic deeds rather than being monsters. Some even said that they felt relief when being farther away from the leviathan. "You don't even have to be in front of a statue or a portrait of course. Anywhere is fine. This is just where the energy is more... concentrated. You'll feel it too once you've spent some more time at the temple."

Her farce hadn't worked, as she felt Luna steer her away. She had to admire the priestess's patience and warm heart. "Energy, huh? Hmm..." There was a certain feeling in the air, now the she mentioned it. Hornet closed her eyes for the briefest moment, and breathed deeply. "You had said people come here to pray. Does the king?"

Samandriel Luna laughed gently at the question. "Goodness, no, but he knows the people will. That is why he set this place up for me." Only once had the king been inside the temple walls, to see the finished product before going back on his way. "He believes in these creatures of course, but he has admitted to me quite bluntly that he does not wish to "waste time" praying to them." And that was his choice, not that that was bad or anything.

"What a guy.." She murmured. She no longer saw her king as greater than the mortals surrounding him, disillusioned to it. Now her eyes searched for the door, for the next thing to see. With a small dip of her head, Hornet said, "I'd like to move on now."

Samandriel Luna simply nodded slowly before turning to lead the way out of the room. The next stop was where the wounded were held. This was the most hated place by those with a "strong survive" superiority complex. Helping the weak was generally frowned upon in Jhotinai. "This is where the wounded come. I would show you where the sickly are, but you're not used to it and have higher chance for infection." Some of the people tending to the wounded looked at Hornet curiously more or less, but didn't pay her too much attention.

"So few. Is it because Jhotinai is strong, or because not many make it back here?" The survival of the fittest was deeply ingrained into her mind since joining. And now, seeing this, she made the connection. Those who failed and were injured or sick were weak, and likely never made it to this sick ward.

"Neither." Luna glanced at Hornet as they walked. "They either succumb to their hinderings, or are killed by people who dislike this place." Even if they were on track to recovering. Sighing, she continued on, leading the way to the next destination. "You shall see in time just how cruel the people here are. It isn't just public displays."

Cruelty, she was much familiar with that. Her people had been slaughtered. Hornet followed close behind, eyes on the surrounding people for danger and out of curiosity. Without thought, she let her hands cling neatly together behind her back. "...I ought to change from my red colors to something more akin to yours, huh?" Hornet finally said, in an effort to lighten the mood. ( Smokey Feather )
