BOUNCEPAW || CAMP Bouncepaw glanced quickly over her shoulder at the new voice and waved her tail in greeting to Ravenpaw, watching the dark-pelted apprentice emerge from the shadows. "Hi Ravenpaw!" She greeted amiably, blinking warmly at her denmate. She lifted a paw to her face and lapped at it quickly, dragging it over her ears to smooth down the ruffled fur on top of her head. "Yeah, how was it out there? I've been dying to go out all day, but it's like my mentor's vanished or something," she mewed with a laugh.

( I have no idea where xfogpathx went so for now I’ll just pretend Milkpaw is stuck in the bush of inactivity lmao ) Fawnleap shrugged “hopefully Milkpaw is doing some much need hunting, who knows where that cat has gone” Fawnleap purred, she’d always considered herself a more laidback mentor and in her mind, one on one training was just as important as finding out the best ways to do things by yourself. “I think Iceheart is bringing a patrol out, but there might be a lot of cats in that patrol as it is” Fawnleap was pointedly looking at the small group of cats gathering around the nursery “ it might be wiser to spilt the groups up and take different parts of the territory, so even if one patrol has poor pickings the other might not” Fawnleap turned to Spiderfang “ maybe we should go ask?” =============================================================== Acornkit gasped at the mention of Oakstar and leapt from his nest “I’m alive! Not today starclan!” Acornkits long tail was swishing through the air and bouncing off the side of the nursery “do you think Oakstar will really visit us? Will he visit just for Dawnpelt or will he talk to me as well?” Acornkit always had to ask as many questions as there were stars in the sky.

SPIDERFANG || CAMP Nodding solemnly, the black-and-white warrior began to walk towards the small group, anxiety prickling at his paws as he approached. He took a deep breath and glanced back at Fawnleap, waiting for her to follow him. "We could probably go in opposite directions around the territory and meet up on the way back - that way the whole group can cover much more ground. Prey isn't doing very well lately and it would be more effective."

~Smokepaw With Bouncepaw and Ravenpaw~
Smokepaw laughed, rolling onto his back with the bat on his nose. Belly up, he grinned at Bouncepaw. "Sorry," He mewed, smiling widely and not looking very sorry at all, "It was too good an opportunity to pass up." He rolled over until he was the right way up as Ravenpaw emerged from the shadows. "Afternoon, Ravenpaw!" He chirped brightly, "Yeah, Ivypelt and Iceheart took me with them to get some water." The young tom hesitated at the next question, glancing around the Camp. "It's..." His voice cracked slightly, so he cleared his throat and tried again. "It's not good," He meowed lowly, grimacing as he remembered the lake, "From what the Warriors were saying, the water's getting really low and it's getting harder to find prey. The grass was really dry as well, it gets in between your paw-pads and prickles at the soft places."
~Iceheart and Dawnpelt With Ivypelt, Wolfthorn, Nightrose and Acornkit~
"Oh I see how it is," Dawnpelt remarked, amused at the turn around, "You only want to spend time with me in the hopes my mate comes around, hmmm?" Reaching out a paw, the Queen gently nudged the young kit in the side. Shaking her head, she turned to Ivypelt. "You can mention to him that if he has time I'd love a visit, but don't bother him too much," She replied, smiling at the thought of Oakstar, "He's been so busy lately, I'd hate to pull him away if he's needed. With this drought I know he's been stretching himself thin, but StarClan willing the rains should return soon."
~Birchpaw With Spidertail and Wildheart~
Birchpaw ducked her head, pleased and embarrassed at the praise from two different sources. "I'm happy to have the chance to learn," She murmured, glancing shyly up at them, "I've always wanted to be a Medicine Cat, ever since I was a kit. I'm just glad Wildheart took me on and StarClan accepted me, so I want to try my best." The Apprentice shuffled her paws, smiling softly before remembering something she wanted to ask. "Oh, Wildheart," She spoke up, ears perking up, "Are we going to check on Nightrose and Dawnpelt before we leave camp, or did you check on them already?" If they were, she wanted to watch closely. Acornkit had been born not long before she became an Apprentice and she remembered being shooed out of the way with he brother. Dawnpelt's kits would be the first kitting she'd actually be part of and the thought made her gleeful.
~Lostfoot With Firepaw, Morningflower and Snailpaw~
Lostfoot sighed, moving to follow his energetic Apprentice. He padded into a slight clearing, following the familiar scent. Pausing, his ears flickered and he smirked, turning his head to stare at a tree. "Firepaw," He called out to where he could hear the breathing of his Apprentice in the quiet of the forest, "We have work to do. Come on, it's time I taught you how to catch a fleeing squirrel."

Acornkit frowned at the word drought “what’s that? What’s a drought? Is it a game?” Acornkits ears perked up slightly “ can I play drought?” Despite being only two moons till his apprenticeship Acornkit was born in new leaf, meaning that his knowledge of the seasons was limited to what his mother had told him and it was quite normal for greenleaf to be this hot simply because he didn’t but know any better ========================================================= Fawnleap flicked her tail “ hopefully we get to head towards the shade, my paws might fall off if I have to walk over lookout cliff” she purred slightly as she padded last Spiderfang “It must be scorching up there, starclan must be ticked over something” Fawnleap cringed slightly at her own words, it wasn’t that she didn’t believe in starclan but the tabby she always relied on her and her clanmates skills to get them through tough paths. Quickening her pace she mewed into the nursery “are you cats setting up a hunting patrol? Spiderfang and I were wondering if we should split up to cover more ground” Fawnleap flicked her ear and continued “ after all, it’s a big enough patrol as it is”.

Nightrose Nightrose dipped her head to Ivypelt, “Yes, I’ll be fine. I need to stretch my legs once in a while, being a permanent queen.” She bumped Ivypelt’s leg to reassure her. When Acornkit asked about the drought, Nightrose blinked at Acornkit in surprise, “Have I not told you?” her gaze switched to amusement, “Or have you just not been listening?” Nightrose sighed, what am I going to do with this kit? “A drought is when there’s no rain for a long time, just like this Green-leaf. When it becomes colder, the rain will come again, if not before the rain comes back on its own.” She paused, “Well, we should be going.” Nightrose stood, stretched, then leaned down to lick Acornkit, “Be good with Dawnpelt. Do everything she tells you.” Nightrose looked around the crowded den, “Shall we head out?”
Wolfthorn Wolfthorn backed her head out of the den when she was given affirmation; she was burning up in there. She flopped onto the dry ground, waiting ever so patiently for the rest of the cats to finish chatting. Wolfthorn grumbled to herself about their dawdling, but, much to her own surprise, didn’t yell at them to ‘hurry up’ for once. One, that’ll probably get me in a lot of trouble, yelling at some older warriors and queens, Wolfthorn thought as she dug her claws into the dirt, and second, I shouldn’t be angry. It’s a drought, everyone’s tired. She lifted her abruptly when she heard Nightrose mention leaving. She scrambled to her paws, finally.

LightningfinLightningfin blinked in surprise, “Uhh, whoops! Sorry, what were you saying?” Lightningfin felt guilty: he knew it could sometimes be hard for Honeyslip to open up, especially around other cats, and here she was! Opening up! Around another cat! And he was being an idiot and not listening, probably making her feel horrible... Lightningfin cleared his head, I’m a good brother, who listens to his sister, and is very engaged in this conversation! So, he listened. Honeyslip blinked at him, then turned her attention back to the ground in front of her. “I-It’s okay,” she said a little softer. “I like squirrel.” The silence settled around her and she instantly felt guilty. For some reason. Now she was ruining the conversation, and in front of Sleekmoon. “What’s your favorite fish, Lightningfin?”

(Sorry I've been gone- I had like a million deadlines at work and no free time) "Well I do my best. It's not like the clan can afford to have me do anything less," Wildheart told Spidertail. He'd always been a fan of flattery and though he tried to play it off secretly he ate it up. "Especially now. Our clan needs capable medicine cats to survive; Birchpaw is more than that. She makes my job easy," Wildheart gestured to his apprentice. "Not like all the trouble I caused my mentor." Morningflower watched as Lostfoot veered off with his apprentice. She would settle this with him, but she would wait for a better moment, a better plan. "Snailpaw, let's do some training. Show me how you stalk a mouse," Morningflower told him, a smile on her face as she turned to her apprentice. "Remember a mouse will feel your heartbeat through the ground so you have to relax." Snailpaw watched Firepaw and Lostfoot leave, then turned back to his mentor and nodded confidentially. He was halfway through his training by now; he could do this. He dropped to the ground, adjusting his haunches as best he could. Then he started to creep forward, but the creeping wasn’t very quiet, and his tail started to lay on the ground.

Spidertail purred with laughter at Wildheart. “Oh, yes, I remember that,” she said, eyes twinkling. Then she lapped at the water again and flicked her tail at the two medicine cats. “Go on and get done what you need to,” she insisted after her drink. “Don’t let this old cat keep you.” She knew the queens, and especially her grandson, would need water and check ups soon, too. She’d have to visit them soon, she realized with a flick of her ear as she heard Acornkit’s dramatic squeaking.

Lightningfin Lightningfin rubbed up against his sister’s head to apologize, then smiled awkwardly, “Er, uh, every kind, really. Minnows are good snacks!” Lightningfin then beamed as a memory came back to him, “Remember when we were apprentices, when you ate your first fish?” Lightningfin couldn’t suppress his laughter, “I’ll never forget that face!” He began to purr.

Ivypelt gave a soft chuckle at Nightrose's prod, nodding. "Alright. Thank you for coming along," she said, gently nuzzling the queen in gratitude. Like Iceheart mentioned, they could use all of the mouths they had to catch prey. She then turned her green gaze back to Dawnpelt, nodding. "I'm sure seeing you will help his worries," she noted. "He always gets distracted around you." She smiled and turned to leave. "We should get going. The sun is still pretty high but I know everyone's itching to eat." She looked over and flicked her ear as she saw Smokepaw with some of his denmates. "Smokepaw! We're going hunting!"
Firepaw's ears flattened with annoyance as Lostfoot called to him. He should have figured he wouldn't be too hard to spot for the warrior, but it nevertheless dimmed his excitement. He moved out from around the tree, trotting over to his mentor. "Squirrels aren't as fun to pounce on as you are," he joked, walking beside his mentor now. "But I guess they'll have to do."
Ravenpaw's eyes widened as Smokepaw mentioned the state of the lake. "That doesn't sound good," she mewed worriedly. Her time as an apprentice had shown her many things, but nothing as bad as what Smokepaw was describing. Sure, she'd seen the lakes and the river disappearing due to the lack of rain, however she had never heard it being so low. It made her wonder how the river was doing. I'll see if I can visit it tonight, she thought to herself. She was about to say more as Ivypelt called to Smokepaw, and Ravenpaw turned her gaze to the warrior. "You should go," she said to Smokepaw, "catch as much prey as you can. We'll need it."[/b]

BOUNCEPAW || CAMP "That's really not good," the ginger apprentice mewed solemnly, the energy that kept her paws twitching soon fizzling out, leaving her still, "I really hope the patrol can bring something back. I'd like to come with you but I don't know if Iceheart wants me along or not." She glanced awkwardly over at her mentor, who was gathered with the cats leaving on patrol. "I kinda messed up big-time last time we went out and I cost the Clan a fair bit of prey," she admitted, lowering her gaze in shame.
SPIDERFANG || CAMP The tall warrior turned to Fawnleap. "Should we assemble our own patrol?" He asked hesitantly, "I'll ask Ravenpaw to come along, she hasn't been out in a while and I've not been the most forward mentor." He glanced briefly at where his apprentice was stood with Smokepaw and Bouncepaw; sometimes he wondered why he'd been given an apprentice, as he was probably the most awkward and socially reluctant cat in the Clan. He wanted to give Ravenpaw the best apprenticeship possible and help her become a warrior that the Clan could be proud of, but for that he'd have to put his fears aside.

"Thank you Spidertail," Wildheart dipped his head to her as he gestured for Birchpaw to follow. "The two of you always keep me focused- we should check on our queens before we leave." He looked back at Spidertail; she did need to get as much fresh air and exercise as possible but with the drought the middle of the day heat was too much. "This drought can make any cat antsy; the last thing I need is a runaway queen."
"You can do better than that Snailpaw," Morningflower told him, circling him. She lifted up his tail with her own. "Keep your tail still and off the ground. Be conscious of your weight, keep it evenly balanced. Stalking a mouse teaches you how to be delicate, precise, and to always be conscious of your surroundings. Being a better hunter makes you a better warrior."

~Smokepaw With Bouncepaw and Ravenpaw~
Smokepaw ducked his head, worry weighing him down. It had been so hard lately. Prey and water were scarce and tensions were running high. He knew Dawnpelt was close to kitting and that would be even more mouths to feed. He felt guilty about thinking of new life in the Clan like that, but things were difficult enough already and it set him on edge, even if he tried to hide it. Hearing his mentor call, he perked up. "Don't worry," he meowed at Ravenpaw, puffing out his chest playfully, "I'll bring back lots of prey, you'll see." He batted the two older she-cats with his tail, beaming as brightly as he could. "And Bouncepaw, I'm sure Iceheart isn't mad. You're an Apprentice and all Apprentices mess up, it's part of learning!" He booped her on the head with his nose, ear twitching as he heard Iceheart called for Bouncepaw, "Come on, our Mentors await. I'll see you later Ravenpaw, and good luck if Spiderfang takes you out!"That said, he bounded off towards his Mentor, brimming with energy once more.
~Iceheart and Dawnpelt With Ivypelt, Wolfthorn, Spiderfang, Fawnleap, Nightrose, Bouncepaw and Acornkit~
Dawnpelt yawned slightly, smiling softly at Ivypelt. She was always glad that she got along well with her mate's littermate, though Ivypelt was easy to get along with. "Don't let me keep you then," She chuckled, reaching out with a paw to scoop Acornkit closer and scrub a paw over his head. "Me and this wild little thing will get along by ourselves for a bit. Good hunting, all of you."
Iceheart bowed her head slightly in respect at the Queen, smiling gently at Acornkit before she turned and left the Nursery. She tilted her head to Spiderfang and Fawnleap. A thoughtful rumble echoed in her chest as she considered them. "Sorry to interject," She said, stepping up to them, "But if you all don't mind, why doesn't Wolfthorn join you? That way there will be three adults in each group and those of us with Apprentices can take them along. It should make for even groups that way." A sight grimace crossed her muzzle at the thought of her own Apprentice. With prey so hard to find they couldn't really afford her last mistake, but the young, fiery she-cat was still learning, so Iceheart didn't really have it in her to hold it against her. Truth be told, she mostly blamed herself. Convinced she should have been watching her closer. Shaking her head, the white Warrior raised her head in the direction of the Apprentices. "Bouncepaw!" She called, voice commanding but with no harsh edges to it, "We're going hunting. Come along."
~Birchpaw With Spidertail and Wildheart~
Birchpaw couldn't help bouncing on her toes slightly at the thought of new things to learn and was about to dash after Wildheart when she abruptly swung back around. She darted forward to rub her head against Spidertail's shoulder. "Thank you for telling me a story, Spidertail!" She chirped, usually grumpy face beaming brightly at the Elder, "I had a lot of fun and it was really interesting! I'll bring Snailpaw next time!" That done she trotted quickly after Wildheart, tail waving a goodbye as she hurried to catch up with him. She frowned slightly, tilting her head as he spoke. "Do you think Nightrose or Danwpelt will leave Camp or something? I mean, it's been a while since Nightrose had Acornkit, but it'd be really dangerous for Dawnpelt to try and leave."

Wildheart stopped just before he reached the nursery to talk to Birchpaw. "It would be dangerous, but that's why we have to keep her comfortable. When a queen is close to kitting she naturally wants to find a place that makes her feel comfortable. But if the camp becomes a hostile environment she may look elsewhere to give birth," Wildheart kept his voice a bit quieter as he explained to Birchpaw, wary of giving Dawnpelt any ideas.

Nightrose Nightrose smiled at Dawnpelt, “Thank you. I’ll be back soon.” She followed Ivypelt and Iceheart out of the den, letting them take the lead. She may be the eldest, but she was no warrior. Or as commanding as the pair. Well, maybe with kits... Nightrose sat outside the nursery while the patrols got sorted out. She groomed then drew a paw over one of her long, tufted ears, attempting to cool her long black pelt down.
Wolfthorn Wolfthorn glared at Iceheart, but kept her mouth shut for once as she stalked over to Fawnleap and Spiderfang. Iceheart’s proposition was sensible, and Wolfthorn liked the pair, but she absolutely hated being talked about as if she’s not there. “Sure,” she meowed. Wolfthorn bumped Spiderfang’s side, “Heyyyyyyyyyy,” Wolfthorn grinned at him. Spiderfang was just two moons younger than her, so they’d grown up together.

BOUNCEPAW || CAMP Just as she was about to sit down and resign herself to being left in the camp, the ginger apprentice's ears perked at Iceheart's call. She eagerly jumped to her paws and gave an excited bounce, hurrying over to her mentor. "You were right, Smokepaw!" She beamed as she passed the slightly younger tom, bumping his flank gently with her own. Bouncepaw stood up straight and held her chin high, waiting for her mentor's next instruction.
SPIDERFANG || CAMP Spiderfang watched Bouncepaw leave Ravenpaw and head towards Iceheart, and he found his voice. "Ravenpaw! Come hunting, we're going to need you out there!" He called just loud enough for his apprentice to hear him, and made sure he held her gaze for a few heartbeats to give her a reassuring look. He almost yelped in alarm when Wolfthorn bumped his flank, and swung his head around to stare at her owlishly. The tall warrior gave a nervous chuckle, reminded of how the slightly older she-cat had done that often when they'd been apprentices together, even if they'd never really been friends. "Hi, Wolfthorn, I'm glad you're joining us." He was, in truth: if she hadn't, Spiderfang would be on a patrol with his apprentice and the she-cat he might possibly harbour feelings for. Perhaps. He wasn't...entirely certain on what he felt, but he greatly appreciated Fawnleap. As socially constipated as he was, Spiderfang doubted he would've been able to cope.

“I figured,” Honeyslip purred, returning Lightningfin’s nuzzle. However, when he mentioned the fish incident, her face flushed hot with embarrassment. “Oh, StarClan, don’t remind me!” she said, shaking her head. The taste of fish would probably never leave her memories. She bumped her hip into his side as she added, “You laughed back then, too.” If something like that happened with any other Clanmate she wouldn’t have been able to even talk about it again. But she knew her brother never meant to make fun of her. She then glanced over at Sleekmoon. “Are we getting close?”

Sleekmoon In response to Honeyslip’s question, Sleekmoon held her tail erect; signaling for her patrol to stop. In front of them was the den, reeking of rabbit. Sleekmoon flicked her tail for Lightningfin to circle around the right while she would do the left side. The golden tom looked utterly confused... or in the middle of a daydream? She was unsure. Sleekmoon sighed internally, then turned and lead her patrol farther away so they could plan.
Lightningfin Lightningfin paused when Sleekmoon signaled. He held his breath and didn’t move a muscle, not wanting to ruin everything. He knew he had a tendency to twitch ever since he was attacked early into apprenticeship. Suddenly, Sleekmoon brushed past him in the other direction. Oh. He followed Sleekmoon away from the den.

Fawnleap purred at Spiderfangs yelp but the more she watched Wolfthorn press her pelt against Spiderfangs the quieter her purrs became, why was she feeling so weird about that? They were clanmates! Of course they’re going to show affection towards eachother. Shaking her fur out and pointedly looking away Fawnleap mewed “We should get going, it’ll be harder to hunt the more we wait” springing to her feet Fawnleap began to pad towards the entrance of the camp “are we ready?” She asked, a little sharper than intended ========== ========== ========== ========== ========== Acornkit whined a little as Nightrose padded out of the nursery and went limp against Dawnpelt “Dawnpelt? Is there anything I can do to help around the camp?” He squirmed a little against the queen “ I’m so bored and everyone’s working so hard and, and “ Acornkit gave a pitiful sniff and dropped his head on his paws

SPIDERFANG || CAMP The black and white warrior jolted at Fawnleap's sharp voice and stood up straight, flattening his ruffled fur as best he could. "Ready!" He mewed, glancing again over at Ravenpaw. With tingly paws Spiderfang followed Fawnleap towards the entrance of the camp; he noticed the slight tension in her steps as she walked ahead of him and he tilted his head slightly in confusion, wondering what had happened so suddenly to make the she-cat so unsettled. He picked up the pace a little bit so he could walk alongside her and, swallowing his fear, he allowed the tip of his tail to run gently along her flank in an attempt to make her feel a little less...well...tense.

Honeyslip pricked her ears as rabbit squeaks drifted from the hole in the ground. Suddenly, she could feel how tense Lightningfin had grown. She brushed her tail along his back before she followed the other two warriors around the rabbit den. “How will we get them out?” she whispered once they moved far enough away, her blue eyes blinking. She wasn’t one to create plans like this, and prefered to follow them instead. Any idea of hers for this probably wouldn’t end so well, anyway.

Snailpaw felt his face flush with embarrassment, but he ignored it and focused on changing his stance. He shifted his weight off his front paws, and kept his tail lifted where she put it. He stalked forward again, this time keeping his balance and making much quieter steps. He kept his ears and nose alert, in case there was any real prey nearby, and let Morningflower’s words sink in as well. I’ll be the best warrior I can, he promised silently to her. Spidertail nodded in agreement. “Some queens run away no matter what,” she said before the two medicine cats left toward the nursery. It’s what she had done when giving birth to Nightrose, after all. Although there was more reason to it than being antsy. She continued to lap at the water until she quenched her thirst for the moment, then looked around camp. Now that Nightrose was off hunting, Acornkit was alone with Dawnpelt. The elder stretched out her back, then got to her paws and started her way toward the nursery.

~Smokepaw and Iceheart With Ivypelt, Wolfthorn, Spiderfang, Fawnleap, Nightrose, and Bouncepaw~
"Course I'm right!" He joked, bumping his shoulder against Bouncepaw's reassuringly, "I'm always right." He turned to smile up at Ivypelt. "Are we going hunting now?" He asked, wriggling in excitement at the thought. He loved hunting far more than battle training, though he knew he was better at the latter. That was probably the reason why he liked it better - He loved feeling that he was improving and he felt that far more with hunting than fighting.
Iceheart rolled her eyes at the excitable young tom, basely ignoring Wofthorn's glare as she did so. The older she-cat had little time or patience for hurt feelings or pride. "The river and lakes have few fish in them these day," She grimaced, tilting her head to the group, "So perhaps we should head to the shade of the Oak Woods and spilt up once we're there? Or do you think we should try the plains? There doesn't seem to be much prey lately, but we may get lucky." Iceheart touched her tail to Bouncepaw's shoulder, sparing a brief smile for the Apprentice, remembering how down she had looked earlier.
~ Dawnpelt With Acornkit~
Dawnpelt chuckled, nuzzling Acornkit comfortingly. "Little one, you should enjoy your time in the Nursery," She purred, grooming over his ears, "You only have two moons before you'll be an Apprentice. There will be little time for stories and play after that." The Queen paused, sighing. "I know it can be hard being the only kit, with no siblings or denmates to play with, but my own kits will be along soon. Then you'll have little ones to play with and you can help teach them all you've learned at your mother's side."
Dawnpelt contemplated the tension in the Camp at the moment and winced slightly, thinking it best to keep the young tom away from the increasingly snappish tempers. "For now..." She continued, voice thoughtful as she ducked her head to look him in the eye, "Why don't we see if you can spend some time with Spidertail? There's few Elders in the Clan at the moment and I bet she's bored as well. I'm sure she'd appreciate the company and our Elders have done such hard work for our Clan, they deserve our attention now that they've retired to the Elder's Den."
~Birchpaw With Wildheart~
Birchpaw wrinkled her nose. She couldn't imagine wanted to run away from the Camp to have kits, it seemed so dangerous. Then again, she couldn't imagine ever wanting kits so she supposed she couldn't talk much. Shrugging it off, Birchpaw nodded firmly to Wildheart. "I understand," She mewed quietly, glancing at the Nursery, "I'll try and keep an eye out then. Is there anything we can do to make her feel more comfortable then?"
~Lostfoot With Firepaw, Morningflower and Snailpaw~
Lostfoot laughed, scrubbing a paw over his young Apprentice's head, messing up his fur. "Don't worry," He grinned, flicking his tail to get Firepaw to follow him deeper into the pines, "We'll do some battle training tomorrow and you'll get you chance to pounce on me then. We'll work on stealth." A gleam of amusement lingered in his gaze as he paused a minute later, crouching down. "Now," He started, keeping his voice low, "There's a squirrel ahead of us. If you can catch a squirrel by surprise, good job, but if it flees, there's a specific technique that will suit you very well."
His ears followed the squirrel as it moved through the undergrowth. "Watch carefully. I'm going to spook it on purpose," He rumbled quietly, shifting his paws ever so slightly into the right position, "Then, the idea is not to go for it directly, but to beat it up the tree it goes for and chase it back down."
Moving carefully forward, Lostfoot reached out and deliberately took his next step directly onto a dry twig. The squirrel jolted up, alert and fled as Lostfoot barrelled out of the undergrowth. The three-legged cat was awkward when walking slowly, but almost graceful at full speed. It had taken him a long time to adjust and he was so grateful that his mentor had agreed to take the time to teach him, given that it had taken so much longer than a regular Apprentice. Lostfoot leapt up the tree, digging his front claws in and scrambling up as he grunted with the effort. The squirrel squeaked in fear and leapt back down, where Lostfoot landed on top of it half a moment later. A quick bite to the back of the neck and he motioned for Firepaw to join him.

Sleekmoon “We need to survey the area and block off the entrances,” Sleekmoon responded to Honeyslip. Her throat felt dry, as she hadn’t said anything in a while. Sleekmoon gulped, I’m sure a juicy rabbit would help... Sleekmoon Continued, “Then, we drive them out one of the smaller entrances.” She kneaded her paws eagerly on the dry ground, maybe we need more warriors, just in case...but... the clan would be so happy if I, the youngest warrior in the clan, lead a patrol home carrying enough freshkill for so many cats. We have to try.
Lightningfin Lightningfin nodded to Sleekmoon, “Oh, yeah, good idea!” He had never hunted rabbits in their dens, only rabbits who were already on the surface, but he’s lost a couple due to them dashing to their burrows. Lightningfin paused and stared at his paws, thinking of his tendency to make lots of noise, and his blind eye... “How about only one of us goes to check out the entrances? Three cats might be a bit loud.”
Wolfthorn Wolfthorn took up the back and followed Spiderfang and his apprentice, Ravenpaw, out of camp. Spiderfang trotted up to Fawnleap’s side, so Wolfthorn fell into line beside Ravenpaw. “How’s training been?” she asked the apprentice, trying to break up the awkward moment of silence. She continued, a bit teasingly, “Is Spiderfang a good mentor?” Wolfthorn was surprised when Spiderfang had gotten an apprentice before her, but whatever, she didn’t have the urge to teach little kits anyway. Well, Acornkit’s a fun little ball of fluff.

BOUNCEPAW || CAMP Bouncepaw purred, letting her gaze linger on Smokepaw for just a heartbeat before turning back to her mentor. She tilted her head and thought carefully about where the most prey might be: the plains had more open ground which meant visibility would be better and it'd be easier to spot prey in the grass than it would be in the undergrowth, but in the forest more prey would be living there anyway so there was a better chance of them coming across a nest or something. She knew the warriors wouldn't take her suggestion if she gave one, but she wanted to improve her deductive skills, and hoped she'd come to the same conclusion as the rest of the patrol.
(If it's okay with you Lycaonia I think Bouncepaw might develop a little crush on Smokepaw! ^^)

Honeyslip glanced to the rabbit den, then back to her Clanmates. “I’ll do it,” she said, although feeling a bit unsure of herself. She was definitely quiet enough to do so, but she was also scared she might mess it up. However, the Clan needed any food they could get... “Y-You two stand off a little ways while I look for all the entrances.” Then she turned around and started making a big circle around the den as she scented for more strong rabbit, keeping her paws light.

(Hi guys! I’m really sorry for how slow i’ve been replying lately:((( i’ve been rehearsing a lot for my show and show week goes from tues-fri lol, i’ll be busy from around 9am to 10 at night so please excuse me if I’m slow at getting back to you guys ) Fawnleap glanced around at Spiderfang and for a moment she locked eyes with the black and white haired tom. Hurriedly she stepped away and flattened her ears against her head, she didn’t mean to be so awkward around him, after all, he was only just being nice. Yes. Nice. That’s it. Fawnleap turned to Wolfthorn and Ravenpaw “come on, the prey will waste away in this sun if we keep wasting time!” Fawnleap broke into a steady run across the terrain
