Sleekmoon quickly buried the squirrel, hoping the ground would keep it cool until they returned to bring it back to camp. She turned back to Lightningfin and Honeyslip when she heard the pair worry, “I came because I found a rabbits’ den. I’ll need your help.” She kneaded her paws on the hard, cracked ground, everyone will be so happy when we catch them.
Lightningfin helped Sleekmoon dig her hole for the squirrel, then dipped his head to Honeyslip, “I’m sure we’ll find something else. Let’s go deeper into the forest!” He paused when Sleekmoon said she found a rabbit’s den, “Oh, so that’s why you were here... Yes! Let’s go get ‘em! Where is it?” He was bouncing on his toes, excited to hunt, even if he wasn’t too good at it.
Nightrose flicked her tail playfully, but spoke sternly, “You know the rules, acorn. It’s not safe for you out there; it’s judt open plains. It will be much hotter than in here.” She tilted her head, “Maybe we could see if any apprentices are still on camp. They can teach you some moves.” She glanced outside the den.

( hey xfogpathx, welcome! Fawnleap isn’t doing much at the moment so maybe she could go do something with Magpiecall or shrewnettle? ) Acornkits tail quivered and he wriggled around so he sat pressed up against the entrance to the den and Nightroses shoulder “even if its hotter out there I’d rather be to hot and out having fun then spend another moment rolling around in the dust in camp!” He slumped slightly and twitched his ears sadly “even the prey are off hiding away from us, is starclan mad? Is that why they are treating us so” Acornkit paused and looked up with a playful grin “dryly?...” ============================= Fawnleap sighed out loud “ is it just this particular greenleaf? I’m starting to wonder if it’s some sort of omen... it’s hard to know” Fawnleap suddenly purred “ after all, I can barely think it’s that warm” standing up the dark she cat shook out her fur “ im going to go look for magpiecall, maybe we could hunt in the shade... we both have dark enough fur...”

Nightrose shifted to get more comfortable as she thought for a moment. “I don’t think StarClan is angry,” she finally said. Nightrose then smiled, pulled her son closer, and groomed his fluffy pelt, “How could they be angry when you’re here?” She let him out of her grasp, then chuckled, “Well, StarClan may be angry if you misbehave and leave camp like I told you not to do.”

~Iceheart and Dawnpelt With Ivypelt, Nightrose and Acornkit - Mentions Birchpaw and Oakstar~
Iceheart dipped her head to Birchpaw and followed Ivypelt over to the nursery, figuring the other Queen in the clan could use the moss she carried. The tall she-cat had to duck her head slightly as she entered the nursery, wary of smacking it against the roof. "Morning Nightrose, Acornkit," She meowed as she moved over to where Dawnpelt was still curled in her nest, eyes jut slightly open. Iceheart set the moss ball down and nudged the Queen gently. "Dawnpelt, I brought you water."
Dawnpelt yawned widely, raising her head to glance around the nursery. "Thanks, Iceheart," She replied, shifting around until she could comfortably reach the moss without putting pressure on her stomach. She was getting bigger by the day, the weight of the kits inside her starting to impede her movement. The dilute calico she-cat lapped carefully at the water, purring as it wet her dry throat. Thirst quenched, she turned her eyes to Ivypelt. "Morning Ivypelt," She meowed, tilting her head with a smile, "How's that brother of yours this morning?" Dawnpelt thought fondly of her mate. He had been so worried lately, she hoped he was a bit more relaxed today.

“Or” Acornkit puffed up his chest “ they may reward us with a big fat piece of prey if I left the camp like a brave warrior” whirling around as Iceheart and Ivypelt enter the nursery he begins to bounce around the two warriors and pester them with questions, his long tail swaying through the air “ Iceheart, Iceheart! What’s it like outside the camp? Is there a lot of prey? Have you ever been to pinewood forest? Is lookout place really cool? Ooooh what did you bring us?”

Nightrose chuckled at her son’s enthusiasm, “You’ll be a pawful when you become an apprentice. I pray to StarClan for your mentor.” I wonder if Oakstar has decided yet. Her thoughts were interrupted by Icehearti and Ivypelt as they entered the den. “Hello,” she said politely. Acornkit dashed up to them and pestered the pair. “Acorn, warriors are respectful of other warriors. Let them give Dawnpelt a drink.” Nightrose swallowed as she felt her own parched throat.

"That was great thinking Birchpaw!" Wildheart purred, gently nudging his apprentice's shoulder with his paw. Then he cocked his head to the side, thinking. "Spidertail, I'll bring you some chamomile later and one of the apprentice's can bring you a fresh piece of prey when they return." his green eyes went from thoughtful to serious. "Also make sure you're getting enough water; I don't want to hear about you refusing so the warrior's can get their's first."
Morningflower narrowed her eyes as she listened to Lostfoot. She was far from being over anything but with both her apprentice and his apprentice watching, she wasn't too keen to let him be the bigger cat. She forced her fur to lie flat and gave her chest a few quick licks. "Hmmp. I suppose you're right Lostfoot. Let's get on with this patrol. Snailpaw?" She called for her eager apprentice wanting to show that she was still in charge.

Fawnleap arched her back and poked her head into the apprentices den “Milkpaw? I was hoping we could get some hunting in before everything gets to warm, and maybe when it does we could do some training in the hollow?” Fawnleap cringed at her own voice oh starclan I sound like an apprentice myself!, she was still getting used to the idea of being in control of what was potentially a big part of her clans future. ================================================================= Acornkit dug his claws into the ground “but Nightrose, the warriors never visit the nursery! Even Oakstar is to busy to visit us, and you don’t have a-“ acornkit faltered and swept his tail around to his jaws, avoiding his mothers gaze he not-so-subtlety focused his attention on a very interesting pebble that totally needed all of his attention right now

Ivypelt purred as Acornkit pestered her, not angry about it in the slightest. "You'll just have to see what the territory is like when you become an apprentice," she teased, lightly nudging him with her muzzle. As Iceheart gave Dawnpelt her ball of moss, Ivypelt moved hers closer to Nightrose. "There's one for you both, so please, drink," she said, dipping her head respectfully. "Hopefully the rains will come soon and we won't have to worry about this much longer." She turned as Dawnpelt spoke to her, asking about Oakstar. Her ears flattened with sadness. "Honestly, I'm worried about him," she told the queen. "He seems so sad and defeated... None of this is his fault, but he's taking on a lot of pressure due to the weather and lack of food and water. He's not doing well."
Firepaw walked calmly by his mentor as they continued their trek, for the first time ever really behaving. That spat between Morningflower and Lostfoot could have gone a lot worse, but as he looked up at his mentor, he couldn't help but smile. Lostfoot was such a wise cat, he always knew how to dissolve tension. It was no wonder he was looked at so highly in camp. The apprentice turned his gaze back ahead of him as he saw the pine trees growing closer, and his pelt bristled with excitement. "We're almost there!"

(( xfogpathx Haha, go ahead ^^ He's a good-natured ball of fluff, so I doubt they'll bother him any.)) ~Birchpaw With Spidertail and Wildheart - Mentions Ivypelt and Iceheart~Birchpaw puffed up, pleased with her mentor's praise as she watched the two Warriors follow her advice. A small taste of how she would help influence the Clan and guide her Clanmates when she was grown. Of how she could help others, whether with her herbs of just a few guiding words. Smile lighting up her grumpy face, she paid close attention as Wildheart spoke. "Chamomile," She muttered to herself, going over the index of herbs she had already learned about, "Strengthens the heart and soothes the mind. One of the Travelling herbs along with Burnet, Daisy leaf and Sorrel." ~Iceheart With Ivypelt, Dawnpelt, Nightrose and Acornkit~As per usual, Iceheart immediately softened in the face of a kit. "It's alright, Nightrose," She rumbled, sitting down and curling her lean tail around her paws, "I don't mind answering a few questions while we're here. I might be getting on in years, but I still remember what it was like as a kit." Her face went playfully stern as she rested a paw on the kit's head, "Only a few though. Ivypelt and I have work to do." The scarred Warrior shifted into a more comfortable position as she tried to remember the stream of questions. "To start with," She purred, a slight smile playing on her muzzle, "Ivypelt and I have brought water for you all. Ivypelt has the water for you and your mother if you are thirsty and I was the one carrying for Dawnpelt. Anything else you have a burning need to know?" The usually frosty she-cat chuckled as she tilted her head in question. ~Lostfoot With Firepaw, Morningflower and Snailpaw~Lostfoot fought the urge to roll his eyes and snap at the grumpy she-cat. 'That cat's getting too big for her fur,' He thought, moving to brush his tail reassuringly against Firepaw's shoulder. "Ready to go hunting beneath the pines, my young Apprentice?" He asked, a calm smile on his features, "It's a wonderful place for squirrels and mice, though a harder place to catch birds than the Oak woods. We must be vigilant though, foxes sometimes creep into our territory through the pines." Lostfoot stepped off the bridge and looked forwards towards where the Pinewood loomed above them. It sent a shiver of old memories down his spine and he fluffed up his short fur against the feeling.

Nightrose’s face lit up with relief, “Thank you, for the water and the company. Acornkit’s a little fussy today. Here, acorn, come have a drink,” she spoke that last part to Acornkit, and took her share of the moss. She lapped up the water briskly, making sure Acornkit drank some too. She felt a lot better, “Do you know when the hunting patrols are returning? We haven’t eaten.” Nightrose nuzzled her kit.

Ivypelt shook her head at Nightrose's question. "Iceheart and I plan on going out soon to see if we can catch something as well," she mentioned. "No one has really eaten in days... We all try our hardest but prey keeps getting scarcer and scarcer." The warrior sighed and her tail dropped slightly. "If we don't get rains soon, I fear the Clan might never find food."
Firepaw nodded excitedly as he saw the pines before him. He was barely paying attention to his mentor's warnings of foxes. The pines seemed to stretch all the way up to StarClan, and Firepaw's paws itched to climb them. "What are we waiting for?" he asked, bouncing a little. "Race you, Snailpaw!" He then quickly darted forward, heading into the pines and instantly feeling the shade cooling his fur.

Honeyslip purred at Lightningfin's enthusiasm and nodded. "Sure, lead the way," she said, though still feeling a little bad about that catch. If Sleekmoon wasn't there, they would have missed it. What if that was the only prey besides the rabbits' den that they found? Maybe she should have just pounced on the squirrel on her own. She kneaded her paws into the grass underneath her as she waited for Sleekmoon to show them the nest.

Spidertail narrowed her gaze contently at the medicine cat. "I'll try not to," she said, then glanced down at the moss ball she was given. Hopefully the other warriors were getting water soon, too. They were doing all the work for the Clan, not her. She flicked her ear as Birchpaw recited the herb's uses and smiled. "Sounds like you've learned a lot these past few moons. Of course, you have a great teacher to help you," she added, looking at Wildheart.

Snailpaw hadn't said much after the fight, and just followed along beside Morningflower as they approached the pine trees. When they came into view, he remembered the other half of this mission and the pep slowly got back into his step. His eyes brightened as Firepaw charged into the forest, and he laughed as he darted after him. The cool shade was welcome on his fur, glad to finally be out of the angry sun. "I can beat you a second time!" he called after the other apprentice, slowly catching up.

Sleekmoon After Sleekmoon heard the pairs’ response, she lead Lightningfin and Honeyslip towards the burrow. They chatted as they talked, not to her, but she didn’t mind at all. She went quickly, but took time to examine the forest. The leaves, though it was Green-leaf, were dry and crunchy. She forest was silent. The canopy, though providing more shade than the open plains, was thin. Sleekmoon sighed softly, I hope this drought won’t last much longer.
Lightningfin Lightningfin followed Sleekmoon with Honeyslip by his side. He glanced at his sister after a moment of silence, “So, I don’t think you’ve told me, what’s your favorite piece of prey?” As he listened to her response, his mind drifted off to his: fish! Nobody else in the Clan really liked fish, or were good fishers, or swimmers, or even liked water at all, so he got them all to himself. Cats liked to joke that’s where his suffix, -fin, came from, his love of fish, which was actually sort of right... Lightningfin realized with a jolt he hadn’t been listening to Honeyslip at all.
Nightrose Nightrose gave Ivypelt a reassuring smile, “Thank you. I may join you, if Dawnpelt feels up to watch this little rascal for a while.” She bumped Acornkit lovingly, then turned back to Ivypelt, “With this drought, we need every tooth and claw.” She stretched her long legs and glanced out of the den, seeing Wolfthorn, a snarky young warrior, pad over to the nursery.
Wolfthorn (made it a little lengthy since I’ve had her for a while and haven’t done anything with her) Wolfthorn blinked awake, blinded by the sun peering through the lichen. It was almost midday. She stood, stretched, and flexed her powerful, sore muscles. I’ll let my lateness slide this one time, she thought as she tidied up her messy nest: keeping everything organized and clean was a priority, especially in a crowded den like this. She had been out all last night hunting since the freshkill pile was empty, though she was only able to return with a puny mouse and a skinny raven. She had been disappointed with her catches, but it was better then nothing. Wolfthorn padded out into camp, looking for a patrol to join. She flicked her ears towards the nursery, where she heard Nightrose, a permanent queen but a formidable hunter, talk about a hunting patrol. She padded to the den and ducked her head in, “Sorry to interrupt, but I heard you were going on a hunting patrol. May I join?”

Honeyslip tried to push away her nerves as she padded alongside her brother. Her ear flicked as he asked her a question, and she faced him. “Hm... I’m not sure. I think I like squirrels the best, so at least we’ve caught one,” she added with a purr. Her head titled as she realized Lightningfin’s gaze was going off somewhere behind her instead of at her, and she swiveled her head around in instinctive alarm. When she realized they weren’t in danger, she looked back and him and twitched her whiskers. “Lightningfin, are you listening?”
|
|
|
Post by navimeows on Feb 20, 2019 13:46:35 GMT -5
Lightningfin Lightningfin blinked in surprise, “Uhh, whoops! Sorry, what were you saying?” Lightningfin felt guilty: he knew it could sometimes be hard for Honeyslip to open up, especially around other cats, and here she was! Opening up! Around another cat! And he was being an idiot and not listening, probably making her feel horrible... Lightningfin cleared his head, I’m a good brother, who listens to his sister, and is very engaged in this conversation! So, he listened.

(I have Spiderfang and Bouncepaw open for rp!)
SPIDERFANG || CAMP The long-legged tom stretched in the sunlight, grunting as his stiff shoulder cracked slightly. He shook out his fur and rose fully to his paws; the black-and-white warrior had slept most of the day, and he was keen to get out in the territory. By now the patrols would've been sent out, so it was safe to assume that he'd missed his chance to join one. There was no harm in a little solo hunting, though, right? Spiderfang didn't necessarily have the social skills to interact with numerous cats at a time, and although he'd never dare complain about being attached to a party of his Clanmates, the situation would unnerve him. He took a quick glance around the camp in case anybody needed his assistance before he went out. He spotted Nightrose, and Wolfthorn who'd just approached the queen, but was hesitant to call out.
BOUNCEPAW || CAMP Bouncepaw wriggled impatiently from side to side where she was sat, her hindquarters scuffing the dirt. She'd been waiting for what felt like moons for something to do, but no cat had approached her yet, so she'd resigned herself to - reluctantly - watching her Clanmates mill about the camp going about their business. Her denmates Firepaw and Snailpaw were already out with their mentors, and it seemed that the rest of the apprentices were too, leaving the little ginger she alone in camp with nothing to do. Maybe she'd go and play with Acornkit or something, if nobody needed her for anything.

As nightrose brushed against his pelt Acornkit gave a dramatic gasp, and proceeded to collapse onto the ground “Nightrose! Leaving me? How will I survive? Oh the pain! Abandoned!” Acornkit wailed. Falling onto his own nest he gave a few little over-the-top sniffs “oh how will I go on? Poor little acornkit all on his very own” Acornkit finally rolled over and gave a final wail before stilling, the only movement was his tail twitching in amusement. ============================================= Fawnleap sighed heavily as she looked around the apprentice den where is milkpaw?, shrugging and deciding she would find the pale apprentice later, Fawnleap looked around and spotted Spiderfang stood looking like he’d just crawled out of bush. “Spiderfang! There’s my favourite black and white warrior? Are you going hunting?”

~Iceheart and Dawnpelt With Ivypelt, Wolfthorn, Nightrose and Acornkit
Iceheart chuckled, the raspy sound mixing with Dawnpelt's child-like giggles at Acornkit's antics. Danwpelt's eyes sparkled with mirth as she jokingly pressed a paw to her chest. "Oh dear," She lamented, trying to keep the purr out of her voice, "With Nightrose going hunting and now poor Acornkit, I'm going to be left all alone. However shall I cope? I guess no-one wishes to spend time with a lonely Queen these days." She sighed deeply in feigned sadness, laying her head down and turning big eyes to the still shape of Acornkit.
"Everyone is this Clan is so melodramatic," Iceheart grumbled, amused but trying not to show it. She lifted her head as Wolfthorn joined them, nodding to the younger Warrior. "The more the merrier," She acknowledged, thinking longingly of the last time she had a proper meal, "Smokepaw is coming as well and hopefully the five of us will be able to catch something substantial."
~Smokepaw With Bouncepaw~
Smokepaw opened one eye as a shifting sound knocked him out of his light doze. He looked around to see one of his Denmates, Bouncepaw, emulating her name well. The ginger she-cat was always fun to hang around, so the little tom quietly got to his paws and stalked towards the slightly older Apprentice. Body low to the ground, he wiggled ever so slightly before pouncing on her, paws outstretched and claws sheathed. "Gotcha!" He called out as he flung himself towards her.

BOUNCEPAW || CAMP (Lycaonia ) The ginger apprentice leaped at least a tail-length in the air, letting out a loud yelp of surprise. She landed on all four paws, fur bushed and eyes wide, before she spotted Smokepaw and immediately relaxed with a relieved sigh. "Great StarClan, Smokepaw!" She almost wheezed, fighting back a purr of laughter. She dropped into a semi-crouch, wriggling her haunches and thrashing her tail, and sprang at her denmate with a delighted mrrow. Bouncepaw had always gotten along well with Smokepaw, the other apprentice was lots of fun and even though he was slightly younger than she was, she really enjoyed hanging around with him. She batted the tom playfully on the nose with a soft paw and reared onto her hind legs, swiping at the air between them. "You scared me!" She plopped back onto all fours and smoothed down her pelt as best she could, although her tail remained slightly bushier than usual.
SPIDERFANG || CAMP (mrmidnight) Spiderfang had been so absorbed in his own thoughts that the sudden call of his name was enough to make him jump a little. He swung his head around to see Fawnleap, and slightly relaxed; as far as Spiderfang's comfort went, Fawnleap was definitely one of his favourite cats to hang around with, because there was nothing about her that prickled his pelt. "Y-Yeah," he chastised himself silently for the stutter in his voice, "I was just about to head out on my own - I was debating whether or not to ask about a patrol." His voice was quiet, as usual, so he padded forward slightly so the she-cat could hear him better. He had spotted her approach the apprentices den earlier and assumed she'd had trouble finding Milkpaw, so he thought he may as well ask: "Would you like my help with something?"

(Sorry I've been gone- I had like a million deadlines at work and no free time) "Well I do my best. It's not like the clan can afford to have me do anything less," Wildheart told Spidertail. He'd always been a fan of flattery and though he tried to play it off secretly he ate it up. "Especially now. Our clan needs capable medicine cats to survive; Birchpaw is more than that. She makes my job easy," Wildheart gestured to his apprentice. "Not like all the trouble I caused my mentor."
Morningflower watched as Lostfoot veered off with his apprentice. She would settle this with him, but she would wait for a better moment, a better plan. "Snailpaw, let's do some training. Show me how you stalk a mouse," Morningflower told him, a smile on her face as she turned to her apprentice. "Remember a mouse will feel your heartbeat through the ground so you have to relax."

(( Lol I've been sick so I understand the disappearance. No need to apologize y'all c: also, I've had to do some more rearranging due to some inactivity from members. Not much, but poor Ravenpaw has yet another new mentor xD hopefully I can actually start using her now lol ))
Ivypelt purred at Dawnpelt's amusing act. "I could always bother Oakstar into coming and visiting you," she pointed out. "I'm sure seeing his mate would put him in a better mood. StarClan knows he needs it." She then turned to Nightrose as she suggested going hunting with them. "Are you sure? The queens don't normally hunt, I don't want you to feel pressured to do so." She was honestly worried about the queen. It had been a while since Nightrose had gone hunting, and with this heat and how little they all had eaten, would the queen be able to keep up?
Firepaw sped through the forest, stopping and quickly turning to dart behind a tree. He crouched low to the ground, his bright pelt standing out against the darker forest floor. This place was amazing to his young eyes. The pines seemed to stretch upwards forever, and the thick canopies provided much needed shade from the sun. He flicked his ears and let his brown eyes scan the landscape, watching for his mentor or Snailpaw so he could sneak up on them.
A dark shadow moved around the edge of the apprentices' den, almost invisible to those who weren't looking too closely. Green eyes shone back through the entrance, and a lithe she-cat emerged, watching her denmates Bouncepaw and Smokepaw tussle nearby. She flicked her ears. Ravenpaw gave a small sigh, her paws itching to get out into the dusk patrol. Her dark pelt helped her blend in with the shadows more, and the last thing she wanted was to go out in this sun. She noticed Smokepaw had recently returned from venturing outside of camp, and being as curious as she was, padded over to join the other two cats. "Hey Smokepaw, Bouncepaw," she purred. "Smokepaw, I heard you just came back from a patrol. How's it looking out there?"
