"Morning," groaned the tom. He looked at his brother, his eyes soft despite being tired and just wanting to sleep. "How are you?" he asked tilting his head.

"That's right," Wildheart told Birchpaw. "You're learning a lot in a short amount of time. You're a natural. But there's more to being a medicine cat than remembering symptoms. Queens can become antsy and, though it's rare, sometimes run off before kitting. A queen will naturally try and find a place she feels safe in when she's close to kitting, that's how you can tell if she's a few sunrises off when she stops wanting to leave camp. Elders are more likely to get sick or injured, but mostly they need to feel like they still matter to the clan, like they aren't a burden."
Morningflower shook off Lostfoot with an annoyed growl, giving her fur a few licks. "Do I look like I need comforting? I'm a warrior, not a kit," proudly she stared him down before stalking towards the camp entrance, tail held high. "Snailpaw!" she called out sharply. "Let's go! We haven't got all day!"

(( なんで私 please remember the minimum requirement for posting replies )) Ivypelt watched as her other patrol members grabbed their share of water in the moss, and she nodded once. "This looks like it would be a great little water supply for us," she stated. "Hopefully, we can get more patrols to do the same. We could create our own little pond in camp while we wait for the rains to return." She looked around the group. "Is everyone ready to head back? Or do we want to rest first?"Frostfur hissed playfully at Lostfoot's hit on his head, and he looked up challengingly at the older male. He was grateful to have a Clanmate like Lostfoot; at times, it was hard for him to be sure of himself, but Lostfoot's encouragement was always a nice thing to hear, even if it was subtle. It did make Frostfur feel a little better, if not at least getting his mind off of the woes that ached him. He sat up and flicked his ears. "Shinepaw!" he called as well. "Let's go! We've got a patrol."Hearing his mentor call him, Firepaw immediately lifted his head and turned to where the voice was coming from. "Coming, Lostfoot!" he responded happily. He looked back at Snailpaw and batted him lightly. "How about a little challenge?" he growled playfully. "Last one to our mentors is mouse dung!" He quickly turned and bolted towards the older cats, looking like he'd have a sure win before he tripped over his back paw and tumbled to the ground. He landed right in front of Lostfoot, laughing and shaking the dirt from his pelt... Again. "Sorry, Lostfoot."

Snailpaw hopped to his paws as both Lostfoot and Morningflower called them. He didn’t even get a chance to respond to Firepaw before he shot off, tripping himself in the process. The apprentice hurried to follow and, after seeing that Firepaw was okay, move to stand by his mentor. “We haven’t even left camp yet and you’ve already tripped,” he said to Firepaw with a warm laugh. Then he looked back at Morningflower and bounced on his toes. “Let’s go!”

Hawkflight paused to take in the question, his eye blinking. “Um, fine,” he muttered after thinking back on his morning. Absolutely nothing eventful. “So far, at least.” He then tilted his head at his littermate. “And you look tired,” he admitted after giving him a good look. Although, being tired didn’t have an affect on his snippy attitude either way.

Lightningfin blinked awake, feeling the sun shine through the entrance to the cave. He got up and stretched, then swiftly licked his paw and drew it over his split ear. He glanced around for his sister, Honeyslip, who usually slept in the nest beside him. As if on cue, her heard his sister’s familiar meow outside the den sputtering about going somewhere. He leaped from his comfy moss nest decorated with feathers and bounded from the den just as Sleekmoon, an acquaintance of his, said they were going hunting. “I’ll come! He meowed.

Morningflower looked down at Snailpaw, a fluff ball of energy and potential. However annoyed she was mentoring Snailpaw always seemed to put her in a good mood. "Are you ready to prove to these mousebrains why you're the best apprentice this clan has ever seen?" she challenged, knowing Snailpaw would get as fired up as she wanted him to be.

~Birchpaw With Wildheart and Snailpaw- Mentions Morningflower, Whitestone and Ashtail~
Birchpaw nodded seriously, storing the information away. With two Queens close to kitting, Birchpaw wanted to learn as much as she could so she would be able to help. It was an exciting prospect, being there to help bring new life into the Clan. She padded out of the den, going over her jobs for today in time to see her brother hurrying over to his mentor. Her ears flicked back briefly as her previous sadness washed over her, before she shook it off and perked up. "Have fun, Snailpaw!" She called out, tail waving as she smiled at him.
~Iceheart and Smokepaw With Ivypelt and Forestpaw~
Iceheart shook out her short, thick fur and looked over at Ivypelt. "If we can find a place out of the way..." She thought aloud, picking up her moss and moving to stand beside her fellow Warrior. "You should mention it to Oakstar," The white she-cat continued, musing the matter over, "It would take quite a bit of effort to get enough that it wouldn't just dry up overnight, but it might be worth it."
Smokepaw bounded up to the pair, his own water-logged moss between his jaws. "I'm ready to go!" He chirped, still bouncing slightly, his seemingly endless energy not diminished in the least by the trip to the lake. He was slightly reluctant to leave the water cooling his paws, but the thought of what he could do when they got the water back was more exciting. 'Maybe we'll go hunting?' He thought, beaming happily, 'Or go to the Oak Woods or the Training Hollow?'
~Lostfoot With Firepaw - Mentions Oakstar, Frostfur, Morningflower, Shinepaw and Snailpaw~
Lostfoot sighed, watching Morningflower skulk off and call for her Apprentice. 'So much for cheering her up,' He thought tiredly, before turning a smile to Frostfur. He chuckled as the young tom hissed playfully before turning his attention to Firepaw, much happier that he could at least comfort one of his fellow Warriors. He rolled his eyes at Firepaw, batting the clumsy Apprentice softly on the back of the head. "One of these days, I'm going to get you to take your time with something," He purred, watching the tom with fond eyes, "And probably immediately have to go to Wildheart to be treated for shock." Lostfoot got to his paws and motioned for his Clanmates to follow him. "Come on, Furball," He growled playfully at Firepaw and lead the way out of Camp, nodding to Oakstar as he left as he turned towards the river and set an easy pace.

Snailpaw beamed up at his mentor. He loved having a mentor that was outgoing and positive, though could be strict if needed. Luckily, he hadn't given her a reason to be upset so far. "Of course I am!" he said, his tail flicking back and forth excitedly behind him. His ears pricked when he heard his sister's voice, and turned to face her. "I'll try! You have fun, too!" He waved his tail back at her. He missed getting to sleep in the same nest as her, now that she was a medicine cat apprentice, but he was also so proud of her for getting such an important role in the Clan.

Honeyslip blinked wide eyed at Sleekmoon, then averted her gaze. She should have guessed that. Her eyes lifted again as she heard Lightningfin approach them, and she nearly jumped again. But she visibly relaxed as he mentioned coming along with them. His company had always been her favorite, and if she didn't know what to do or was too scared to do something alone, she would try to find him first. She smiled softly at him. "Alright."

Ivypelt listened intently as Iceheart spoke, nodding gently. Having a little pond in the middle of camp wouldn't be too bad, she thought to herself. "If we made it deep and wide enough, it would be a permanent fixture in camp." Her eyes widened as she came up with a thought. "It would certainly help when the rains came as well. We could dig it beneath the hole in the boulder so that when rain falls, rather than just making it muddy and creating a river in the camp, it fills a small pond!" She looked down at her moss ball again, her eyes shining with newfound enthusiasm. "We should hunt a little while we're out, shouldn't we?"
Firepaw gave a small chuckle as his mentor bat him on the head, and after hearing him say he was going to have him take his time with something, Firepaw grinned devilishly. "Just wait," he said, "I'm going to be the most careful cat in the Clan now!" He walked patiently beside his mentor, though his fiery pelt was burning with excitement. It had been quite a while since he'd been to the Pinewood Forest, and he was excited to train there again!
Frostfur watched the two toms quarrel a bit, a small purr rumbling from his throat. Firepaw's enthusiasm was always a bit much for him, but Lostfoot was able to handle it so easily. Their relationship was one any mentor and mentee would be jealous of. When his apprentice finally approached his side, Frostfur followed the other cats out of the camp, almost as eager as Firepaw to get their training started for the day.
Oakstar watched as the second patrol was leaving the camp, dipping his head to the passing cats as they exited the camp. He looked up to the hole that illuminated their camp, praying silently to StarClan that the river was still running with water. His ear twitched with nervousness. He turned his eyes to the medicine cat den, and as they did, he stood, quietly moving across the camp and sticking his head through the opening. "I'm sorry to bother you, Wildheart," he began, "but do you have a moment to speak?"

Sleekmoon blinked as Lightningfin bounded out of the warriors’ cave. He was good company, and Sleekmoon slightly delighted when he decided to join her and Honeyslip, his sister. Sleekmoon padded to the entrance, beckoning her small patrol to join her, “Come on, then. Let’s try Oak Woods.” Sleekmoon prayed to StarClan the shade would cool her hot pelt.
Lightningfin lovingly headbumped his sister’s fluffy side as Sleekmoon got up, “Good morning~!” he chirped, purrring softly. He held his head to her side for a moment, but broke away when Sleekmoon called for them by the entrance, then nudged Honeyslip, “Oak Woods! Nice and shady! Let’s go!” He leaped from her side and trotted to the young silver-gray warrior. I’m STARVING. I just know we’ll find something good today!

Honeyslip returned the affection by rubbing her muzzle to his cheek for a moment, then looked up as Sleekmoon spoke. Hopefully they would have some luck hunting there and add a good amount to the fresh kill pile. "C-coming!" she stammered before scurrying to catch up with Lightningfin and Sleekmoon. She fell into step beside them as they left through the entrance, and she immediately wished she had a shorter pelt. The cave helped keep some of the heat out, but outside you could definitely tell it was dry and arid.

Snailpaw left with his mentor, and started walking between Morningflower and Firepaw. He held back a laughing purr at the tom's words. "I don't think that'll be for a while," he said, bumping his friend's flank playfully. He was struggling to contain his excitement similar to Firepaw, and he really wanted to bolt in that direction. But then he would probably trip and fall just as Firepaw did.

Wildheart watched Birchpaw go, proud that he had an apprentice who truly took the job seriously. "StarClan knows a clan can't survive without a medicine cat," he meowed aloud, glancing around at his den. He gazed down at the burdock root at his paws. "Oakstar!" he turned to face him, a little surprised; he hadn't heard him come in. "Of course. What's going on?"
Morningflower watched her apprentice play with Firepaw as they traveled, glad that he was so dedicated. She was proud of his progress and even more so at the chance to show it off to the other warriors. "Snailpaw, remember we're on a patrol. Don't get so caught up in chatting that you become unaware of your surroundings."

~Birchpaw With Spidertail- Mentions Snailpaw, Wildheart and Oakstar~
Birchpaw smiled after her brother, tail curling happily. About to turn and help Wildheart in case he had any herbs he needed, she paused as she saw Oakstar duck his head into the Den. The young tabby hesitated for just a moment, before turning away and heading over to where Spidertail lay, giving her Mentor and Oakstar some privacy. "Good morning, Spidertail," She said quietly, padding softly towards the Elder.
~Iceheart and Smokepaw With Ivypelt and Forestpaw~
Iceheart tilted her head to the side, thinking. "Perhaps we should return our moss to Camp first," She suggested, dipping her head slightly as she considered their options, "We do not want to lose any of the water while we hunt. We could always bring the Apprentices back out for some hunting and training afterwards?" The statement was more of a question by the end, an invitation for Ivypelt and her Apprentice to join Iceheart and Forestpaw after their task was done.
~Lostfoot With Firepaw - Mentions Frostfur, Morningflower, Shinepaw and Snailpaw~
Lostfoot hummed in amusement, eyeing his excitable Apprentice. He seriously doubted that Firepaw's resolve would last too long. It didn't take much time for the group to come to Fox Lake. "Be wary, Firepaw," He rumbled a warning, eyes sharp as he watched carefully for the named Predators, "We'll stop here briefly for a drink before we head first to the river, then over the Twoleg Bridge and into the forest to hunt." He flicked his tail as he approached the much smaller lake, grimacing at the state of it as he leaned down to carefully lap at the water.

Despite trying not to, Spidertail had begun to doze off, her head still on her paws. When she heard Birchpaw's gentle voice, her eyes flicked open. She prepared to be snappy with whoever woke her up, but when she realized it was the medicine cat apprentice, she slowly sat up straight to look at her. "Good morning, Birchpaw," she meowed with a raspy purr. "Making the rounds, I see."

Snailpaw looked back over at his mentor, and his tail slowly lowered. Patrol, right. "Yes, ma'am," he mewed with a short nod, then turned his attention back to the task at hand. There was a lot of open territory before they got to the river, so careful attention was always needed. He pricked his ears and let his eyes scan the area. Nothing, so far. "I hope some of the water has come back," he commented with a glance to Morningflower.

Birchpaw nodded, sitting down beside her and curling her fluffy tail around her paws. "Wildheart was briefly delayed by Oakstar," She explained, shoulders relaxing in the familiar presence, "So I thought I'd come over and talk a bit." The young she-cat shifted slightly, head ducking as she peered up at Spidertail. "I didn't realise you were sleeping," She meowed apologetically, ears back slightly, "I'm sorry. I'm not sure how long Wildheart is going to be, so I can leave you to your nap."

Sleekmoon waited for the littermates to catch up before leading them out of camp. Now, on the open plains, fully exposed to the flaming sun, Sleekmoon’s pelt was on fire. She kept her cool (or, in this case, heat) and slowly formed her slow walk into a run. She heard Lightningfin call out in surprise and run past her with his long legs. Just like lightning. Even through Sleekmoon wasn’t the fastest, the slight breeze seemed like a snowstorm.
Lightningfin padded behind Sleekmoon out of camp at Honeyslip’s side, careful not to brush up against the fluffy molly to make her even hotter. Lightningfin was thankful he had a thin, sleek pelt. And a fluffy sister to keep me warm in Leaf-bare! Lightningfin realized with a jolt Sleekmoon was speeding up. “A race?” he exclaimed as he dashed past his sister, “Bet I’ll beat you!” Lightningfin called to the open air as he passed Sleekmoon easily.

Spidertail stretched out her front legs, extending her claws, then tucked them underneath her and shook her head. "No, no, you're fine," she insisted, noticing how put back Birchpaw looked. "If I sleep all day, I won't be able to tonight. We can talk while we wait." Her whiskers twitched with amusement. "Or just me talking at you," she added as she wrapped her long tail back around her body.

Honeyslip glanced between Lightningfin and Sleekmoon as they started picking up their paces, eyes wide. Then her brother blew past her, calling out a challenge for a race, and she squeaked in surprise. A race?! At first the she-cat didn't think running would help, as it would get tiring. But the breeze that went by as Lightningfin bolted off felt pretty cool... She broke into a run herself, but her legs were short in comparison to her littermate's; she wasn't even going to try and completely catch up. However, it did make the heat more bearable.

Oakstar watched as the medicine cat apprentice moved from the den, dipping his large head to her as she moved by him. Once she was gone, Oakstar looked back at Wildheart. "Birchpaw seems to be doing a lovely job as your apprentice," he noticed. "She seems to be taking to the position well." He moved farther into the den, sitting in front of Wildheart and wrapping his tail around his paws. "I normally don't interfere in a medicine cat's connection with StarClan. However... I'm deeply troubled by the state in which our territory and Clan is in. I was just wondering... Have our ancestors shown you anything recently? As to what is happening or why?" Truthfully, the leader hated having to ask such a question, knowing the relationship between StarClan and a medicine cat was sacred, but the fear of his Clan wasting away ached him more than he cared to mention aloud.
Ivypelt nodded. "That sounds like a good idea," she agreed. "Smokepaw could use some more hunting practice." She looked at her apprentice and flicked her tail. "Think you could handle it?" she teased, lightly nudging the younger cat's side. "Alright, let's take this moss and head back to camp. We can rest for a while before heading back again." She then picked her moss back up and moved from the lake bed, almost getting caught in some softer mud on the way out before continuing the trek back to camp.
Firepaw listened as his mentor spoke, looking down at Fox Lake. He noticed Lostfoot grimace slightly, and he couldn't blame him. The state of the lake was horrible; it seemed like there was barely any water left in it. He moved beside Lostfoot to carefully drink the water, feeling it cool his throat and wash away the dryness that once plagued it. He noticed Frostfur come up and join his other side, eagerly lapping up the water as well. "If only it would rain," Frostfur mentioned. "StarClan knows the camp could use the rain. The whole territory could, really."

Sleekmoon fell in beside Honeyslip. The two short-legged mollies fought to keep up with Lightningfin as he dashed to Oak Woods. It wasn’t long before the trio reached the trees, and, more importantly, the thick canopy’s protection. Sleekmoon slowed as she was finally covered by the swath of leaves above, casting strong, cool shadows. Sleekmoon plopped down, and began to groom her pelt, keeping her breathing slow as to not show she was tired.
Lightningfin knew he was over a tree-length ahead of the rest of the patrol. He took long strides and leaped over any stray rocks easily. He kept his head turned more to the right as to not strain his neck, but help him see where he was going. He reached Oak Woods way before Honeyslip and Sleekmoon; still buzzing with energy. He lightly draped his long tail over his sister’s back when she arrived several moments later, “I won! You’re my prize.” He smoothed the top of her fluffy head, which was spiked up from the wind, with his tongue.

~Birchpaw With Spidertail~
"I don't mind talking," Birchpaw replied, looking back at the Medicine Den briefly, before moving to lie beside Spidertail, "But I do like listening to you as well." Her face scrunched up ever so slightly as she considered her options. "Would-" She started, ducking her head slightly in embarrassment, "Would you mind telling me about the Clan when you were young?" Birchpaw knew she was a bit old for stories, but she was feeling nostalgic today. Still, she didn't want Spidertail to think she was being lazy. "Just while we're waiting for Wildheart," She made clear, tucking her paws in.
~Iceheart and Smokepaw With Ivypelt and Forestpaw~
Smokepaw puffed his chest out, playing at being arrogant. "Of course," He mewed, looking imperiously at her, "Why, I can handle anything. I bet I shall catch enough prey for the entire Clan." He stuck his muzzle in the air, only able to hold the pose for a couple of seconds before he broke down into snickers. He shook off his amusement, bounding along until he was beside Ivypelt. "I like hunting practice," He agreed with the plan as he padded alongside the others, looking forward to getting the moss back to Camp. The fuzzy green water-logged clump felt strange in his mouth and was difficult to speak around.
~Lostfoot With Firepaw, Frostfur, Morningflower, Shinepaw and Snailpaw~
Lostfoot sighed in agreement, staring sadly at the half-dry lake. The water levels seemed worse here than even Hawk Lake and didn't bode well for the state of the river. "I'm sure it will rain soon," He said reassuringly, butting his head gently against Frostfur's shoulder. The tom took one last look at the lake, before shaking his head and motioning to the others. "Come on, then," He called, making his way carefully away across the surface-dry mud, "Time to head for the river."

Wildheart's atmosphere changed as he heard Oakstar's words. he settled down opposite him, green eyes clouded with worry. "Truthfully, they haven't shared anything. I've been doing my best to keep Spidertail and the queens settled but it's troubling me too. Dryness in greenleaf is like death buried in life; it rots from the inside out." For a moment he gazed past Oakstar, caught up in his own words. It was truthfully how he saw things. "Perhaps they are speaking to us in their silence."
Morningflower looked at her apprentice. She was worried too; she hated the way the forest looked now because it reminded her of leafbare. It made her feel on edge, knowing that the loss of rain could lead to further problems. But, she put on a brave face for Snailpaw. "I wouldn't be too worried about it. StarClan are watching over us; they'll guide us through these hard times." She rested her tail across his shoulder.

Snailpaw gazed up at Morningflower as her tail laid across his shoulder. He thought on it for a moment; it had been such a struggle recently with the lack of both water and prey. Is this something StarClan could fix? But then he smiled at her anyway. "You're right," he said firmly. "It'll be okay soon." He touched his tail with hers for a second, then looked down at the small amount of water left in the lake. He lapped at it a couple of times, followed by a shrug. His ears pricked as Lostfoot called; he looked back at Morningflower, then scurried to catch up with the tom.
