Sleekmoon was surprised, though she didn’t show it. Few cats understood what she was thinking or feeling. Maybe Spidertail could tell because she’s an elder? Maybe her experience with more cats made her more perceptive? Sleekmoon knew there was quite a large age gap between Spidertail and the most senior warriors. Whatever the reason, Sleekmoon was glad someone could understand. Sleekmoon glanced at Spidertail as she continued, now more intrigued by her stories.

~Birchpaw With Wildheart - Mentions Whitestone and Ashtail~
Birchpaw huffed out a breath, thinking over what she knew. "Both Blackberry Leaves and Raspeberry Leaves soothe pain," She began, trying to reason it out, "Although in different ways. So maybe Juniper does the same?" Birchpaw frowned, her normally grumpy face almost angry in appearance as she scrunched it up in thought. "Raspberry Leaves also help with kitting, and I know we've been preparing for Whitestone and Ashtail having their kits, so maybe something to do with that?"
~Iceheart and Smokepaw With Ivypelt and Forestpaw~
Iceheart nodded shortly, grabbing her own moss and motioning for Forestpaw to stick close by as she followed Ivypelt out of Camp. It wasn't a terribly long journey to Hawk Lake, certainly less so than the Training Hollow, but it was one ever increasing in frequency and importance. Nobody knew why the rains had yet to come to the territory, but Iceheart desperately hoped it would be soon.
Smokepaw padded happily along, less than a tail-length behind Ivypelt's shoulder. While not as clued in to the danger as Iceheart, he knew that he had been given the chance to help his Clanmates on an important mission and was almost shaking with delight. A light purr rumbled through his chest as he moved forward a bit to smile at Ivypelt. He loved having Ivypelt as a mentor, the she-cat's attitude seemed just what he needed to learn best
~Lostfoot With Frostfur - Mentions Oakstar, Morningflower, Firepaw, Shinepaw and Snailpaw~
"Sorry to wake you," Lostfoot meowed, moving a little closer, "But Oakstar has ordered a patrol to check on the river. Me, you and Morningflower are going to take our Apprentices and do a little hunting and training in the Pinewood Forest after we check the water levels." The tom smiled at the much younger warrior, looking back over his shoulder. He sighed as he caught sight of Morningflower. "Though it seems Morningflower has gotten distracted from her task of gathering the Apprentices in order to bother Oakstar."

"No, but that's a really good guess. You're a thinker Birchpaw; I like that!" Wildheart reassured her, his green eyes comforting. "No Juniper berries are good for treating bellyaches. Watermint does the same but I prefer Juniper- they're close enough to camp that I can usually trick Spidertail into coming with me to collect them." Wildheart gazed off past Birchpaw for a moment. "It's important that we take care of our elders, and making them get exercise is one way to do that. She also likes correcting me when I forget things."

And Ashwhisker has never had a mate so he wouldn't have had kits yet, but perhaps she could be his adopted kit? It seems like something he would do to maintain his image.)

Spidertail let the silence fall between them for a moment as she looked at Sleekmoon, then continued. “I also remember distinctly complaining about it a lot. But in the end, it made me feel good to help my Clanmates during a harsh season.” She paused to gaze down at her paws. There were so many good cats that she missed, and talking about them always brought back memories... Then she flicked her ear and pushed them away. She didn’t want to get mushy on poor Sleekmoon. “Although it reminds me of one of our coldest leaf-bares as well - no prey, not much water unless you liked it as a chunk of ice...” Her eyes flicked back to Sleekmoon. “Have I told you about the time we all woke up to the clearing covered in ice?”
((good thing spidertail can do all the talking for the both of them lol))

(( Please try to keep out of character chats in the OOC Discussions page c: That's what it's there for! Including making relationships and all that if you aren't doing so in the joining page. Small little comments at the beginning/end of an rp post are fine, but I'd prefer most OOC talk to go there. It just helps keep the actual rp a little cleaner. Thank you! ))
Oakstar flattened his ears playfully, forgetting for a second the position he held and wishing he was a warrior once again. He loved leading the Clan; he loved knowing he had the trust of his Clanmates and that they had enough faith in him to lead them. But sometimes he missed the simplicity of being a warrior, knowing that his only real duties were going on patrols, hunting, and training apprentices. But he wasn't a warrior anymore; he was a leader. His ears perked back up. "Maybe another time," he suggested. "But for now, you should get your patrol together. The apprentices look eager to get out there, from how they're behaving." He nodded his head towards Firepaw and Snailpaw, his eyes glinting with a bit of their excitement.
Firepaw sat back and thought for a moment. "Well, it'll be you, me, and Shinepaw," he started, "and Morningflower, Frostfur, and Lostfoot. So we'll have plenty of practice dummies!" He purred, puffing his chest out once again. "I bet I can pin more opponents than you can." Truthfully, Firepaw knew he had much to learn still, since he'd only been an apprentice for two moons now. But he was confident in the abilities he had, and knew he'd grow into a fine, capable warrior one day.
Ivypelt carefully jumped down the rocks near the base of the hill their camp was situated on, making sure none of them were unstable. Cats had died in the past from stepping on stones and falling, or having falling stones hit them. The stones were a dangerous part of their territory, but not nearly as dangerous as the falling stones in the winding peaks. Once she made sure everyone was down safely, she continued the journey to Hawk Lake, worry filling her eyes. The grass under paw was brittle and dry, looking almost like sand that could blow away at any moment. She tried pushing it out of her mind as she noticed a small dark bundle at her side, and she smiled back at her apprentice. They were too young to worry about this. Let them enjoy themselves, she thought. Smokepaw and Forestpaw have enough to worry about.
Frostfur scoffed lightly, hearing Lostfoot's comment. "Well, she seems to be quite smitten with him," he retorted. "At least, that's how it looks to me. Oakstar is a hard tail to catch, though." He stood slowly and walked out of the warriors' den, letting the sun hit his light pelt through the hole in the boulder their camp was stationed in. "I was planning on getting some practice in today with Shinepaw anyway, and StarClan knows it's always easier to work in groups. This should be good for them."

Morningflower narrowed her blue eyes, studying Oakstar. He was truly their leader now after all, she realized. "Fine Oakstar," she meowed, dipping her head in respect. "I'll have Snailpaw ready faster than a snake could catch a mouse." Morningflower turned her attention to the apprentices gathering together; she knew Snailpaw was always ready and eager to train, one of the only reasons she liked being a mentor.

(Haha, yeah! And sorry) Sleekmoon felt the same way as Spidertail. She loved to help her clanmates; to see relief or thanks light up on their faces. It made Sleekmoon feel better no matter how bad the circumstances. Spidertail continued, talking about cold, icy leaf-bares. Sleekmoon’s throat felt drier than ever, thinking about the freezing, refreshing ice. She dreamed for a moment of the familiar pure-white snow covering the open landscape. Sleekmoon wished for the cold. She realized Spidertail had asked her about when the clearing was iced over. “No,” Sleekmoon responded briskly. She could imagine it, though: cats slipping and sliding across the clearish-white ground. She held back a laugh.

Spidertail purred. “The whole cave floor and all the rocks leading outside were covered in ice,” she continued, closing her eyes. With weather like this, she missed the cool breeze on her pelt and icy cold water on her tongue. She smiled. “I remember the kits wanting to slip around and play, and their mothers had to keep a keen eye on them. We only sent out the largest warriors to hunt, since it would be hardest for them to fall. Luckily no one was injured,” she added with a glance to Sleekmoon. “But lots the apprentices would dare each other to make it across the clearing without slipping.”

As Sleekmoon listened, she dragged her paw across the ground, sending up a few plumes of dust. In her mind, her paw slipped across the icy floor easily, becoming wet and cold. She examined her pad, seeing it covered in dust, and began to lick it clean. She returned Spidertail’s gaze. “Who was an apprentice around then?” she asked, returning her paw to the ground.

~Birchpaw With Wildheart - Mentions Spidertail and Snailpaw~
Birchpaw huffed out an irritated breath, but settled easily. "I like the elders," She admitted, pulling one of the nearby herbs closer to her and examining it closely, "Spidertail used to tell me and Snailpaw stories if we asked nice." She paused for a moment, remembering her kithood with her brother by her side. She missed sleeping beside him, curled up against their mother's belly. Now that she was Apprenticed to Wildheart, she slept in the Medicine cat Den with him. She'd never admit it, but she felt lonely sometimes, in the dead of night without her brother's soft fur and deep breaths beside her. Sighing, the young she-cat shook her head and looked up at her mentor. "Will we bring Spidertail with us to collect the berries today?"
~Iceheart With Ivypelt, Smokepaw and Forestpaw~
Iceheart frowned as she walked. The lands grew drier and frailer by the day. It seemed like even the prey grew thinner and harder to find. With two litters on the way, it was looking difficult. 'The Clan will get through it,' Iceheart snorted to herself, 'We've gotten through hard times before.' Still, something about the days had Iceheart on edge, her fur bristling and smoothing out again at odd times. She raised her head, wincing as she took in the sight ahead of them. Hawk Lake. Iceheart moved alongside Ivypelt and looked at her fellow Warrior, worry in her gaze. "It's gotten smaller," She muttered, low enough that the Apprentices couldn't hear her.
~Lostfoot With Frostfur - Mentions Oakstar, Morningflower, Firepaw, Shinepaw and Snailpaw~
Lostfoot chuckled, following Frostfur out of the Den. "Perhaps Firepaw will actually use up that energy of his," He mused, deciding not to comment on Morningflower and Oakstar, "With two other Apprentices to scrap against, we might tire him out." His eyes sought out the fresh-kill pile. It was a bit low, even for the hardship of the season. "We should hopefully catch a good bit of prey in the shelter of the Pinewood as well." Lostfoot sat, waiting for Morningflower to gather the Apprentices. "How is Shinepaw doing, anyway?" He asked mildly, thinking of his own Apprentice.

Ivypelt stared out at the dry lands ahead of her, barely able to see the water level of the lake until they were about four fox-lengths away. She heard Iceheart come up beside her, and when she pointed out that the levels had dropped even lower, Ivypelt gave a small nod of recognition. This wasn't good. She stopped where the edge of the lake was when it was full, now just a dried patch of mud wishing for rain. Her tail flicked with worry, and she set her moss ball down for a moment to speak. "Be careful when trekking into the lakebed," she told the apprentices. "The mud is dry, but sometimes your paw can still slip through and get stuck. Watch where you step." She then picked her ball back up and carefully headed down to where the water level was; about five cat-lengths lower. She set her moss ball into the water, letting it soak up for a few moments and taking the time to drink some water herself. She immediately felt more refreshed, and she purred, picking her now soaking ball up.
Frostfur nodded. "I sure hope so," he began, "Firepaw needs to get some of that energy out. I don't know how he does it." He glanced over when Lostfoot asked about his apprentice, and he thought for a moment before looking back at the playing two. "Truthfully, she's doing quite well," he said. "But it feels... Odd, being her mentor. I was just an apprentice not too long ago. I feel like Oakstar might have chosen the wrong mentor for her." He sighed. "I just wonder if she would be progressing more with someone else."

Spidertail furrowed her brows as she delved into her thoughts. "Hm... I know for sure Hickorypelt and Hawkflight were," she said, letting out a laugh at the memory. "I remember poor Hawkflight slipping the most." She glanced over as Sleekmoon ran her paws through the dirt. "I was a young warrior at the time, but I stayed inside and helped watch the kits that day. The ice had metled by the next morning, but it was interesting while it lasted." Spidertail rested her head on her paws and gazed outside of the cave. "I really hope we get some kind of rainfall soon." ((yes we should!! you can start なんで私))

Sleekmoon nodded, then glanced at the empty fresh-kill pile. Her stomach growled and her paws itched to go somewhere. “I’ll go hunt for you,” Sleekmoon said, standing. She shook out her dusty fur and stretched. I’ll find some shade among the trees. She glanced around the clearing, wondering for another moment if anyone needed her. She shrugged and padding towards the entrance, flicking her tail at Spidertail to say goodbye. She paused, seeing Honeyslip dawdling outside the warriors’ den, watching her. “Do you want to come?” Sleekmoon asked after a long moment of silence.
(Sleekmoon and Honeyslip are very similar haha)

Wildheart tilted his head to the side. He could tell something was off with Birchpaw but for the moment, he decided not to press the issue. He knew Birchpaw liked to work and wouldn't delay that. "Not this time. We will check in on her- and Whitestone and Ashtail. Then we'll head into the forest," Wildheart meowed. "We need to make sure that they are comfortable. Taking care of new queens can be more important than most of the other work we do."
A little disenchanted Morningflower padded over to Frostfur and Lostfoot. She overheard the end of what Frostfur was saying and sighed. How could he be so unsure of himself? "If you two are ready, Oakstar wants us to go. I know my apprentice is probably jumping out of his fur with the wait," she told them flatly.

~Birchpaw With Wildheart - Mentions Spidertail, Whitestone and Ashtail~
"Because kits are the future of the Clan," Birchpaw nodded. It was a lesson that she knew well and had firmly implanted in her mind. Shaking thoughts of her own kithood out of her head, Birchpaw stood, ready to leave and check Spidertail and the Queens. "So, Elders and Queens have to be checked for aching joints, sores, ticks and fleas," Birchpaw went over the checks out loud as she got ready to follow Wildheart, "Also, any sign of a cough or problems breathing, especially in the Elders who are at a bigger risk of such things." She glanced at her mentor, trying to see if she was missing anything without seeming hesitant.
~Smokepaw With Ivypelt, Iceheart and Forestpaw~
Smokepaw carefully followed his mentor, watching the way she and Iceheart moved over the dry lake bed. A bit cracked under his weight, exposing wet mud below, but he managed to avoid sinking as he reached the water. The cool water was bliss sliding down his throat as he lapped at the surface of the lake. His moss soaked in the water beside him as he waded a little farther in, almost purring at the sensation in the nearly oppressive heat that had settled over the territory.
~Lostfoot With Frostfur and Morningflower - Mentions Firepaw~
Lostfoot huffed out a sympathetic breath at Frostfur's insecurity. He remembered what it was like having your first Apprentice, the uncertainty, the fear that you were going to do everything wrong. He opened his maw to reply, when a downtrodden Morningflower joined them. Lostfoot frowned at the fact both his patrol partners were both unhappy now. Sitting back on his singular back leg, the tom reared up and planted his front paws on the other twos heads. "Mouse-brained kits," He teased as he scrubbed his paws over the fur on top of their heads. He returned his paws to the ground and pressed his broad shoulders to the other two briefly in comfort, smiling softly. "Firepaw!" He called, shifting to a more business-like demeanour and moving towards the Camp entrance, "Come on, we have work to do!"

Hawkflight had been awake for a while, but he just now padded out of the warrior's den. He wasn't called out to do anything, so he figured he could relax and groom his fur alone before leaving the den. He gazed around the clearing until his eye fell upon Hickorypelt, and he quickly moved to stand beside his brother. "Good morning," he said as he looked down at him. His tone was straightforward, but his eye was warm.

Sleekmoon blinked in response to Honeyslip’s question, then flicked her short, bushy tail towards the entrance to camp, “Hunt.” Sleekmoon enjoyed the few sparse times she was able to be with Honeyslip, be it patrols, short conversation, or these rare random outings. She understood the ginger-tabby-and-white molly; they were very similar after all.
