Mistpetal didn't move, even when Oakstar commanded her to. She couldn't bring herself to do it, not when Blackfang seemed this grief striken. At least, she wouldn't leave because she didn't want her clanmate suffering. Besides, after she made the announcement in camp, she was pretty sure that the medicine cats would stock up their herbs for them. She stayed silent as she followed behind Blackfang and Spiderfoot, Boneeye's death replaying through her head. It was strange. She hadn't known Boneeye too well, yet she grieved silently like she was her best friend. This is feeling grief for your clanmates. She realized, and it made her feel even more guilty. She then seemed to stick near Blackfang's side, knowing he would need emotional support, and she might as well try.

crowstalker lounged high up in the aspen tree, observing the camp below. he appreciated the quiet atmosphere and the cool breeze that blew through the yellow leaves. everything seemed so calm up there, he felt weightless and freed from daily stress. it was no wonder the black tomcat chose to sleep up in the treetops most of the time instead of in the warriors den.

Camp - With Cloudpaw (kraai ) and Nightpaw (nightshadows )As their leader scolded them, Jaypaw looked down in shame. How could he have forgotten one of his basic duties? To be fair, he hadn't been an apprentice for long, but he still tried to please everyone to the best of his ability, and not succeeding in his task made him upset. He nodded as Oakstar ushered them away and bounded off towards the exit of the camp. "Let's go to the bramble patch," he mewed at the group. He wanted to please Oakstar, so he wanted to go the quickest route they could so that they could return soon.((oof, sorry I haven't been on. I had a theatre festival I was working at lol))

Warrior's Den - with Darkberry (✨ nissabug ✨) and Sheeptuft (@yetiraisins)Sandytail didn't tend to be one to sleep late into the day, but since the late deputy's passing, he'd been having trouble sleeping. He worried for the clan and for the outcome of everything and, though he knew everything was going to end up okay, he worried for Oakstar. He cared for the clan a lot and tried to watch over them. Because of this worry, he wasn't sleeping very well at night. That's why, when he awoke to Darkberry's voice, he jumped up immediately as he noticed the rays of sun sneaking their way into the den. He sleepily dipped his head in Darkberry's direction in a sort of bow and raised his paw to wipe his eyes. "Darkberry... what do you need?"

Camp - with crowstalker (echolight)Batnose had been spending the wee hours of his morning on the hunt and was finally returning to camp with nothing but a week mouse and an even smaller chipmunk. He dropped what he had in the fresh kill pile and stretched, his sleek black fur glistening in the sunlight, tail sticking straight up. He yawned widely and looked around at the camp as things seemed underway. There seemed to be something off in the air, but there was nothing in sight that would tell him what it might have been, so he continued on his way. He strolled through the camp and happened to see crowstalker sitting up in the tree, just observing the camp as he was wont to do. Batnose decided that, if something was going on, crowstalker was likely to know, so he jumped up to the branch that the tomcat was sitting on. "How are you doing on this chilly morning, Crowstalker?" he purred.

( oh, no wonder i didn't get notified xD lavenderwing , my username is spelled with a Q in place of the G lol ) crowstalker watched batnose as he pulled himself up the old aspen. he held respect for the older warrior, but he still always felt himself grow nervous whenever he had to engage in casual conversation. the oriental tom averted his gaze, searching the branch in front of his paws for his words. "just fine," crowstalker mumbled, kneading his claws on the bark as a nervous habit. "it's not that cold, really. uh, i mean, it's comfortable..for me."

!~Spiderfoot~! !~!
Spiderfoot crept out of the warriors den. He had slept the night before, though uneasily, and he had woken up with ruffled fur. After a few minutes of grooming, he had finally decided to slither out of the warrior's den. His fur was sleek as he stepped out of the den, looking about the camp, looking for something to do. He wasn't quite hungry yet, and he probably needed to hunt before he would eat, but it didn't seem like anyone was planning to go on a hunting patrol. His paws itched to do something, however, but he resisted their urge, choosing instead to pad over to Batnose and Crowstalker. The two toms were okay, Crowstalker could be a bit awkward, but Batnose was easy enough to make conversation with.
"I wish I could have your resistance to cold," He joked to Crowstalker, jumping into the conversation straight away, flicking his tail back and forth, shivering dramatically, "You never seem to feel the cold." He mewed. Because of how skinny he was, he was prone to feeling the cold. His fur was as thin as he was, so it offered little resistance against the cold weather in leaf-bare. He envied cats with thick fur that hid them away from cold breezes. He smiled at the two toms, tail resting on the ground calmly.

The next morning Shadowfang was placed in the medicine den. He was not entirely happy. He'd been left in the care of Wrenpaw and Bearcloud, yet, a pestering ball of white fluffy was in his face. He'd be 've r been too keen on the two newbies, but this one, Archpaw, her language was so strange and her actions were ridiculous. Bubble ✨ nissabug ✨

{{ HAPPY BIRTHDAY ECHOLIGHT!! I hope you had a fun day! }} ✨ nissabug ✨ Sheeptuft turned her head to the sound of Darkberry. She was relaxing under the aspen tree's roots, trying to wake herself up, so she couldn't see where Darkberry was standing. She slowly got up to her feet and walked out from under the shade, where she saw Darkberry in front of the warrior's den. "I'm over here!" She called out. Sheeptuft quickly scanned the clearning, to see if she could find out where Sandytail was. She decided that she would wait for Sandytail to walk other to Darkberry, and than she would follow suit. {{ I don't think you saw this nissabug c: }}

Darkberry bekconed Sandytail closer with her tail to get him out of the den, then turned as Sheeptuft called out. She acknowledged the she-cat with a flick of her tail, then nodded her head toward the medicine den. "We've got to talk to Bearcloud," she said when the warrior came closer. She deeply hoped nothing would go wrong on this trip, although she knew she had strong cats on her side. However this probably wouldn't ease the soft worrying in the back of her mind. crowstalker chuckled politely, not sure what else to reply. He wasn't the best with words, and he didn't really have an explanation for his tolerance either. By all logical standards of being an oriental, he should be freezing as well--but perhaps it was his enjoyment of the breeze and hanging in treetops so often that gave him a bit of resistance over the moons. "I guess. Heheh," crowstalker shrugged, flicking his tail unsurely, his face beginning to warm up. He wasn't the most comfortable at being the center of a conversation.

(Hey guys! It seems that time went forward when I was swallowed by life! That's fine; I can roll with that. xD Sorry for being absent for so long guys, weekends seem to be my busiest days lately. Weather has been updated!)
Oakstar had, slowly, made her way back to camp with Trapjaw by her side, morose over the loss of yet another of her clan. Was Starclan punishing her for waiting too long to appoint a deputy? It'd been nearly a moon now since she had lost Lilywhisker and she still lacked a deputy. They needed one before Leaf Bare, she knew, but with the recent events she wondered if the choice she had come to was really the right one. Starclan knew all; where they disapproving of her choice and telling her by drowning yet another in the river? Her ears pinned back against her head and she rolled over in her den, curling into a tight ball and ignoring the sounds of the clan milling about outside.
She'd been seen by Bearcloud and Wrenpaw the night before after the coyote attack and, with a very reluctantly taken poppy seed, some cobwebs, and a very firm scolding from Bearcloud to be more careful, she'd limped back to her den. Her belly rumbled with hunger - she had not eaten so much as a scrap of prey last night and she was paying for it, but her troubled thoughts took precedent over her rumbling stomach.
It's sunhigh before she finally, agonizingly comes to a decision - a deputy must be named. She hoped her choice would satisfy Starclan enough for them to spare her remaining clanmates from the fate of Lilywhisker and Boneeye.
Posture drooping and limping steps heavy, she slipped out of her den with a singular focus - the Highroot. It seemed at least most of the clan was still lingering around camp, directionless without someone to organize patrols and give directions for the day. And that is why I must assign a deputy.
She pulled herself up onto the Highroot, hissing quietly at the pain it caused in her injured foreleg, and sat at it's highest point, taking a moment to catch a deep breath and try and sooth her nerves.
"May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather around the Highroot for a Clan meeting!" She meowed loudly, making sure that her voice would reach even the deepest nooks in the camp, and then settled back to wait for her clan to gather.

Nightpaw raised her head and walked over and sat down by the high root wondering who Oakstar was going to choose as the new deputy. 'Hollybright?hmmm or maybe Trapjaw?!' Nightpaw was still sad but was getting more excited at trying to guess who the new deputy would be.

They turned over in their nest, ear twitching upon hearing their sister's voice. They'd been worried about her before when it was only Lilywhisker that had been killed, but now? With old Boneeye gone too? They could see that Oakstar was all but crumbling to dust under the stress. The two-cat pushed themself up, stretching and giving themself a quick, haphazard grooming before they padded out of the warrior den. They eyed the meager Fresh kill pile - they hadn't managed to catch much the day before, especially with all of the hubub caused by the Coyote attack.
They settled to the left of the Highroot, looking up at their sister with a grim set to their features. She looked worse then she had the day before last they'd seen her; Boneeyes loss to the river was hitting her quite hard, yes.
They tucked their tail around their paws and waited for the rest of the clan to gather.

Emberstep had made it a personal goal to check the borders thoroughly after the Coyote attack - the loss of Boneeye had hit her hard, even though she hadn't known the older she-cat especially well, their age gap seeing to that. She'd risen with the sun and had slipped from camp quickly, not even bothering to groom herself beforehand, to check for any signs of Coyote-or-otherwise activity along the river... And for any signs that Boneeye had managed to claw herself out of the icy water.
The sight of the large flows of ice clouding the mouth of the mother river had not been a settling sight.
She'd just barely been poking her head back through the entrance to camp when Oakstar called for them to gather around the Highroot and she hurried to comply, sitting before the bedraggled, tired looking leader with ears pinned back in worry and tail lashing, her usual exuberance muted. She truly hoped their leader was going to pick a Deputy now - she needed it.
Emberstep was sure they all did at this point..

Owlheart looked down at the little apprentice, tail flicking in mild irritation. They'd never been exactly fond of the bouncy types of cats - they were glad they'd never been assigned an apprentice before in general, really. Nightpaw was a good reminder of that line of thought. Regardless of this, though, they peered down at the dark-furred cat seriously.
"Only Oakstar knows, Nightpaw. Please settle down." They murmur, turning back to look up at a grimacing Oakstar.

((so did the trip get delayed to the next day due to the coyote))
Hollybright approached the Highroot and sat with her tail curled around her paws, sitting next to Nightpaw and Owlheart, rather amused with her apprentice's excitement. She looked up at her leader with sparkling eyes, proud of her for finally making the deputy announcement. Hope bubbled in her chest, wanting it to be her, but she knew there were many other great contenders for deputy. It was probably a very difficult decision, whatever one she made.

Blackfang listened intently from his place at the mouth of the medicine den. His eyes locking onto Oakstar, his true emotions hidden.
Trapjaw was seated quietly beside High Root, gazing up at Oakstar with a small smile. It had been quite a rough few days, and he hoped things would become better for the she-cat.
Archpaw sat quietly, a bit anxious, as her brother wasn't with her. It seemed he'd left again this morning, yet, had returned yesterday evening very late. She wondered what he could be doing.

Oakstar's call suprised Crowstalker, the leaves seeming to tremble at her beckon. Secretly grateful that he had an excuse to leave the conversation, he silently began to fall from branch to branch down towards ground level. Roosting in a low-hanging branch beside the crowd, Crowstalker lounged out his long body and perked his ears to listen.

Larchtail - Camp
Larchtail was quick to leave the elder's den, where he had been speaking to Pinefoot, to rush into camp at Oakstar's call. He could easily guess what the meeting was about, and it made sense -it was time for a new deputy, and a good time to do. After Boneeye and Lilywhisker's death, the Clan needed something to celebrate. Larchtail found Archpaw in the crowd, sitting next to her when he saw that Canyonpaw wasn't nearby. He greeted his apprentice with a nod and a smile, turning his attention back to Oakstar, a gleam of hope in his eyes. Maybe it wouldn't happen...but if he did become deputy, wouldn't it be the best way to be remembered? Pinefoot would be so proud. He glanced at Hollybright, promising himself to cheer even if he didn't get chosen.
Pinefoot -Camp
Pinefoot rolled her eyes when Larchtail dashed off. Her mouse -brain of a son seemed to think he had a chance, as though he pulled through above literally any other warrior. Oakstar would make an apprentice deputy before Larchtail, she thought, stalking into the clearing. She sat down in front of the elders den, not bothering to join the crowd. She was still angry at the apprentices for her minimal care at their paws, and she wasn't about to go sit next to any of them. She strained her ears to hear what Oakstar had to say next; her hearing wasn't what it used to be, but she hoped she could hear the deputy announcement when it came.
Wolffeather -Camp
Wolffeather was lucky that the ceremony was called during one of the rare moments she was actually in camp -she was just going to head off to Deer Meadow. She was trying to escape all the sad cats; she had hardly knew Boneeye at all and the vigil, while she sat through it, had been extremely uncomfortable, and she had been hoping to escape for a while. She slipped back into camp, as she had hardly set a paw outside of it when Oakstar called, and found a spot at the back. She didn't know any of her clanmates enough to sit next to them.

Oakstar looked over her gathered clan, coldness gripping at her chest making her shift uneasily on her paws which has a zing of pain shoot up her bad leg. The pain centers her again, though, reminding her of just why she was doing this - what would her clan do if she was swept away by the river? She took a deep breath, deciding to go with the less stressful news first - to put off having to make that choice, she knew.
"A coyote attacked Blackfang and Mistpetal yesterday after sunhigh," She says, words stilted and slow. She winces internally - she doesn't sound like the strongest leader right now, and she's fully aware of that.
"Two patrols will be sent out at dawn, sunhigh, and dusk for the next few days to keep the boundaries strong and check for a returning coyote or others crossing over into Dawnclan's territory. Apprentices are not to leave camp without their mentor or another warrior accompanying them." Her voice gets stronger as she speaks, gaining a little bit of confidence again as she goes through measures to keep her clan safer.
"I would also like to announce that Bearcloud has asked for a group to be sent to the marsh to gather herbs. They were supposed to leave yesterday, but with the coyote attack, it has been pushed back to today." She looked towards the medicine cat's den where she could see Blackfang and Bearcloud watching her. The fluffy medicine cat dips his head at her, acknowledging that that was still going to occur. She turns her attention back to the group as a whole.
"Do wish them luck in their journey." It's time. She takes a deep breath, looking over each of her warriors in turn.
"... It has been nearly half a moon since the loss of our deputy, Lilywhisker," She starts, voice quiet and choked still at the reminder of her old friend. "And we lost another to the river yesterday, as you all well know..." She's stalling more. But she can't stall forever. She sits up straighter, paws flexing into the wood of the Highroot, but her voice stays strong.
"I say these words before Starclan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice," She trails off, glancing down to the side of the root where Trapjaw sat, a reassuring smile on his face, and she drew strength from the ridiculous tom's seriousness. She could do this.
"The new Deputy of Dawnclan is Hollybright." Despite her trepidation, she made sure her voice was loud and would carry so that every cat present would hear. It's done, she thought, I hope you're proud of me, Lilywhisker. Or at least forgive me for waiting so long.
