Archpaw had left Boneeye to herself after the elder she-cat had dozed off. She sat quietly beside Nightpaw, her tail wrapped around her paws. She saw Oakstar nearby, and the faint scent of Trapjaw lingered around her. She wondered where her brother was and nudged Nightpaw, "Psst, what are we waiting For?"

"What for? And have you seen Canyonpaw?" She asked in a hushed tone. She observed the she-cat, thinking maybe she could make a new friend. She was still quite new to the clan and was hoping to get a bit closer, as some may be family. She wondered how many cousins and siblings and aunts and uncles were out there in the clan. nightshadows

{{ HAPPY BIRTHDAY ECHOLIGHT!! I hope you had a fun day! }} ✨ nissabug ✨ Sheeptuft turned her head to the sound of Darkberry. She was relaxing under the aspen tree's roots, trying to wake herself up, so she couldn't see where Darkberry was standing. She slowly got up to her feet and walked out from under the shade, where she saw Darkberry in front of the warrior's den. "I'm over here!" She called out. Sheeptuft quickly scanned the clearning, to see if she could find out where Sandytail was. She decided that she would wait for Sandytail to walk other to Darkberry, and than she would follow suit.

( A good question, Raisins! I'll probably add a section to one of the front page posts concerning stuff like that. In the meantime; I was thinking that the mentors would decide IC when an apprentice has learned enough and would tell the leader/deputy, who would conduct a test! Probably hunting and/or sparring. So really the time of apprenticeship will differ from 'paw to 'paw. c: Also, yes, Larchtail is Archpaw's mentor!
Also also, Happy birthday Echolight!)
Emberstep squeaked, nearly tumbling into the water of the little pond when Larchtail bumps into her, huffing indignantly at the tom. "A fast and agile enough cat would totally out maneuver a wolf! One wouldn't be able to get one claw on me!" She declares, flexing her paws in the wet sand of the pond's bank, tail lashing behind her. She eyed Larchtail for a moment before whirling to face Riversplash and Applescent, eyes narrowed.
Yes, these two would be the deciding factor here!
"Riversplash, Applescent! What do you think - could a cat or four beat a wolf if they tried really really hard?" She couldn't back down now. Well - wouldn't.

Owlheart made a small noise of discontent; even Wolffeather's mentioning of seeing a squirrel earlier wasn't really settling them too much. They sighed deeply, lagging behind the two she-cats, ears pinned back. Oh, they really hoped it wasn't anything bad chasing away all the prey - they hoped they were just getting unlucky. They shook their head and quickened their pace to catch up to Hollybright and Wolffeather, voice unsure as they spoke again.
"I... Was probably just getting unlucky." They murmured, clearly not believing their own words.
"We should hurry; we're wasting sunlight." They meow, pace quickening, paws silent as they rushed through the dying underbrush.
For Starclan's sake, I hope I'm just being paranoid.

Bearcloud huffed in amusement at Wrenpaw's words, eyes squinting slightly as he looked his apprentice over. He'd clearly been disappointed in himself because of his mistake; but Bearcloud wasn't worried. Wrenpaw was young yet; soon enough he'd know every useful item their territory and beyond held. He could see the makings of a wonderful Medicine Cat in his apprentice; and that is why he'd allowed the young tom to become his apprentice despite how he himself was still young. Ah, I'm getting ahead of myself.
"You will not, in fact, need Parsley for your journey. You're right." He purrs, whiskers twitching at Wrenpaw's next question.
"Ah! That reminds me; A slgiht change of cats was in order when I spoke with Darkberry. We will need another group of traveling herbs, it seems. I'm sure Oakstar will be fine with me adding a third warrior to the journey party in the hopes of better safety." He paused, looking over to his herb stores in the den, muttering under his breath for a moment before speaking again, sounding distracted.
"Darkberry will be in charge of the group. In total, it will be her, Sheeptuft, Sandytail and yourself, Wrenpaw. Please do get together another set of herbs." He gets up slowly, padding over to the log at the back of the den and looking over his herb stores again, making note of what came predominately from the marsh that they needed more of.

Finally free for the first time in what felt like moons, Oakstar stretched languidly with a wide yawn, blinking slowly. Why did she feel so sleepy already? It was barely sunhigh! Huffing, the she-cat stood and looked around camp, spying Spiderfoot lounging near the entrance. She paused for a moment - perhaps she should lead a second hunting patrol today? She side-eyed the meager offerings in the fresh kill pile and decided that, yes, that was a good idea. She padded over to Spiderfoot, eyes sparkling eagerly.
"Spiderfoot," She meows once she's close enough to not have to yowl the tom's name across the camp, expression friendly.
"Would you like to go on a hunting patrol with me? Perhaps with Icepetal and Crowstalker as well." She stood before the tom, waiting patiently for his response.

( Heya, everyone! I have some news! I've added a new 'rule' to the rule list, though it's not exactly a rule. I've also added a 'Ceremonies, Journeys, and traditions' section - if you have anything else interesting to add to it, feel free to PM me your idea! I've also added moon phases to the post containing the seasons and weather, and split the 'plots' section into two - 'Main' and 'Sub' plots!
Also, I've extended the length of each season from one month ( aka 3 weeks ) to 6 weeks ( aka 2 months) irl time because here we are, barely halfway through one single day! Weather will update bi-weekly at most, though I'll try to change it every 'day' IC.
Additionally, because I haven't been the clearest concerning them, here's a list of mentors and their apprentices! If your cat is a mentor and you'd rather they not be, feel free to let me know and I'll change it!
Larchtail is mentor of Archpaw. Emberstep is mentor of Canyonpaw. Darkberry is mentor of Jaypaw. Bearcloud is mentor of Wrenpaw. Hollybright is mentor of Nightpaw. Riversplash is mentor of Cloudpaw.
If you have any questions/concerns about any of this, please let me know! I'd be happy to clear anything up for you! And thank you for helping make Dawnclan so awesome, guys. )

Mistpetal gently stepped on the ground, her tail low to the ground, but just barely brushing the tops of some grass. Her ears were up and alert, her eyes focused on a small creature, nibbling at the roots of a tree. A small mouse. She gently placed one paw in front of the other, nothing but the mouse being important right now. With one, swift lunge, she managed to successfully get the mouse, gently picking it up with her teeth, as to not damage it.

Boneeye stretched after her rest in the elder's den. She gave a large sigh, observing the cats around her in a nostalgic manner. In her mind, she pondered the future of their clan immensely. Although our bloodline isn't one to envy or pursue, I do hope to pass it on... With Blackfang's mannerisms, I find it difficult for him to find a suitable mate. If only my little brother were more sociable... And if only I wasn't so old, she thought. The older members of DawnClan knew of Pondwhisker, nd she was told to kits to scare them into behaving. Legends of Shadowfur were told in order to inspire young ones to be better to the clan. Yet, in all her years, Boneeye had rememberd the days before her parents had been oh so cruel. Herself and Blackfang were the only ones so far that could salvage their bloodline. A disheartened sigh escaped from her muzzle.

Blackfang had left the camp a bit ago. Not caring if Trapjaw had followed or not, that tom was ridiculous, obviously infatuated with Oakstar like a kit to a ball of fluff. He scoffed to himself at the romance Trapjaw was so induced in. A scent began hitting his nose at this time, and he turned, following it. He peered over to find Mistpetal had caught a mouse. He tilted his head slightly, "Hn... Hello," was all he said quietly. lilyquill

Mistpetal froze for a moment as she heard Blackfang, and nearly most her grip on the mouse. But she regained herself, and gently set the mouse down, so she could speak. "Hello Blackfang." Her mew was very quiet, but loud enough for just him to hear. "What brings you out here?"

"The clan is low on fresh kill," He began, "I see you may have already noticed since you're out and about by yourself. You're usually too skittish to leave camp by yourself," he joked, giving half a chuckle. He seated himself before the she-cat, his tail neatly placed over his paws. She was quite small compared to him, and the unusually tall tom had to look down at her. lilyquill

Mistpetal rolled her eyes, and sat down, her mouse next to her. "I might be skiddish, but I'm not a coward!" She purred, amused. In order to properly make eye contact with him, she had to look up quite a bit. "Besides, everyone's already busy anyway, so I went out on my own."

Canyonpaw had traveled for quite sometime. The cold made his nose numb. He knew where he planned to go, and why. He'd made it through the Tall Aspen Forest, and now stood on the banks of Mother River. An uneasiness settled in his chest and stomach at the sight of ice blocks drifting towards the Dark Lake. Across from him sat the Lone Tree on it's small, private island. He gave a sigh, trying to scent for prey nearby.

"Ah, that's right, you don't have an apprentice. Well, since you're not too bust, would you care to hunt with me? Trapjaw is a bit... like an annoying bird. I find hunting with him to be a bit draining," He began. He scented the air, finding nothing more in the area they occupied. lilyquill

Mistpetal nodded. "That sounds nice. I haven't hunted with anyone in a while, so it would be nice to have someone around." She gently covered up her mouse with some leaves, as to hide the scent. She stood up, and began scenting the area some. Nothing.

Blackfang began to lead Mistpetal towards Reed Lake. After a couple moments of travel, he paused, scenting some uncommon prey. He led her towards the crossing rocks, pausing for a moment. "We're near the Coyote Dens, so please, be careful," He said. He then stalked forward quietly, coming upon the small stretch of river. The crossing rocks were a few fox-lengths away. A few small birds were chirping on the banks, pecking at the carcasses of smaller minnows.

Mistpetal followed along, her ears constantly turning to any sound she heard. She let out a quiet sigh. "Alright. You be careful too." She gently stalked to one side, scenting something uncommon, although she couldn't quite put her paw on it. Suddenly, the prey darted out from the bushes, which turned out to be a lizard. She quickly caught it, holding it down for a moment until it had quit fighting. She gently grabbed it, and buried it under a pile of leaves.

Blackfang, focused on the birds, prowled forwards. His haunches bunched up, his body froze. In a split moment, he pounced forwards. He'd meant to catch one bird, yet, while he snapped the neck of a bird between his jaws, one had been crushed beneath his body weight. He panted, placing the two birds in a pile. "Good catch!" He called to his female friend. He was closer to the the smaller stretch of river now.

Mistpetal looked over at Blackfang as he spoke to her. "Thanks! Those birds were good catches! Two birds, one Blackfang!" She teasingly purred. She crept over to the river, and looked down into the river, watching the minnows swim around. She didn't try to get any of them, knowing she probably wouldn't be able to catch one. Another rustle alerted her nearby, and she spun around towards it. She nearly slipped into the river, but sank her claws into the ground, and heaved herself up. By the time she got back up, the prey had gotten away, and she really didn't care, as she was now wet.

{{ The 'holidays' you made are super cool Mutt!! I like these new traditions. }}
Wolffeather - Bubble 's Owlheart, ✨ nissabug ✨ 's Hollybright
Owlheart really didn't look very happy; clearly, Wolffeather's attempt at reassurance hadn't helped. Wolffeather, again, glanced at Hollybright to check that she wasn't the only cat feeling concerned about Owlheart. She didn't like that her clanmate was feeling agitated, but she didn't know how to comfort them, so instead she set off in a trot to match their strides, taking large sniffs of air. The scent of Deer Meadow still stuck her pelt, and while any other time, she would've adored to smell the stale scent of deer, now it was getting hard to work with. She shook her head, sniffing again, catching brief scents of mice and squirrels, but nothing nearby.
"Little Pond is getting close now," she meowed, wanting to make Owlheart slow down. She could already smell the Little Pond, along with something like the scents of DawnClan -she couldn't tell which cats, but she could assume that perhaps another patrol of some sort was nearby.

Blackfang gave a nod to her, a smile appearing on his muzzle. When he'd heard the rustle, a terrifyingly familiar scent filled the air. He whirled around, his hackles raised, a growl rumbling in his throat. A coyote appeared, starved and wild. It sniffed the hidden prey from earlier, then turned to look at the two cats on the bank. Blackfang turned to Mistpetal quickly, "I'll distract it, go back to camp for help," He stated. He then began to circle with the coyote, blocking it's path to Mistpetal. The coyote jumped at him and he fell back, kicking with his hand claws at the canine's throat and chest. the jaw's of the wild dog bit down on his ear and hehissed in pain. His front claws dragged over the coyote's face, making the beast yelp.

Mistpetal felt fear fill her lungs. It filled her with adrenaline, and when she was told to run for help, she ran as hard as she could. She ran until she felt she would collapse when she made it into camp. "Blackfang! Coyote! Need help!" She panted tiredly into the camp. She tried raising her voice some, but it wasn't really too effective.

Owlheart inhaled deeply, slowing slightly upon scenting Dawnclan cats nearby - in the little meadow around the Little Pond, most likely, where they had been going to hunt. Their ears pinned back on their head, irritation spiking under his pelt - was it the dawn patrol, lingering by the pond too long, scaring all the prey away? The two-cat huffed, slowing further and turning their attention back towards Wolffeather.
"The scent of Dawnclan's fresh up ahead. Probably the dawn patrol being slow, if I had to guess. I bet they've scared away all the prey by now. Should we change routes?" They ask, coming to a stop. Their tail twitches back and forth as they think.
"Maybe we could try up by the crossing rocks?" They suggest after a moment, words slow.

Boneeye spotted Mistpetal and heard her. She dashed up to her, "Blackfang's in trouble?!" And she darted out of camp, rushing forward. She ran for quite a long time until coming upon the crossing rocks. She spotted Blackfang, holding his own against the coyote, but not for long. Blackfang was backed up to the edge of the freezing river. Boneeye leap forward, throwing herself onto the canine's back. She bit down, hard, on it's ear, tearing it as she was thrown into the freezing river. She did not resurface, er body could not be found.

Blackfang growled and hissed upon hearing the splash and seeing a familiar pelt submerge under the icy waters. He'd managed to get behind the coyote when his sister had provided a distraction. His hackles raised and his fangs bared. The coyote had blood dripping from it's torn ear. The scratches on it's face and chest bled, whilst Blackfang's shoulder bled, his shoulder in immense pain. He was standing on three paws by now, his shoulder surely dislocated.
