Ottersplash scented the air again. She understood the apprentice didn't want to get caught, but they don't have to try to hide as much. Getting caught sneaking into the forest was not punishable by banishment. The worst punishment was probably a little time caring for the elders and nursery. Making her walk through the forest was causing the punishment to increase. More like she would be more likely to suggest a heavier punishment.
To her surprise, she found an odd little structure in the forest. The little den looked like something a twoleg had made. She approached slowly. Something told her she shouldn't stick her nose in strange things. Still, she continued to walk forward. Ottersplash stopped when she heard a strange noise. "Hello?" She called.

(Welcome! I have... Oatpaw and Gullfeather open ^^)
Shalespots thought that this was going to be it. He couldn't climb his way out to land, he was frozen still, the waves berating him into literal submission. Somehow the seaweed was stubbornly still locked into the pale toms cats jaws even as he struggled to hold his breath. He finally went limp, surroundings becoming blurry and dark, at least until something grabbed his scruff and jerked him upwards.
He still made little to no move as he was brought to the surface. All he could do was cough the water out weakly and let out a soft groan. He was let go in the water, though, forcing him to open his eyes and figure out where he was supposed to go. At first all he saw was water, panic overcoming him, because what if the ocean had brought him out into the endless sea? He had the common sense to turn around a little and finally he saw the shore and Stormstar paddling towards the beach. He followed, making it back there slowly, collapsing onto the sand and coughing out more water now that he could and rest.
He looked up a little at the question and looked back out to the shores. "I-I don't know... it looked like a moon? Kind of. It was large and glowing... then there was a wave of blood but when it hit us it didn't actually feel like blood... I think it was a warning. But for what I don't know," He whispered weakly as he pulled himself up so he was sitting and started to clean off his soaking fur. The light furred tom started to shake again from the cold, hating how he was so weak, but he tried to focus on the task at hand.

Stormstar watched the tom has he spoke, revealing nothing of what she thought. She tried to stop herself from falling. When he stopped speaking, she sat down giving up on the fight. She made sure to sit up and tuck her paws under her to manatin some dignity. "It must be from the ancestors. I've been getting similar dreams for moons." When she finished, she sighed. She still didn't know what the ancestors were up to and she could be safely named as the cat with the most experience with them.
The glow struck her as important. It was something knew. She hoped it was a way to save her clan, but she doubted there was something to save her clan. Not when she barely had a clue to what was going to happen. The glowing was distinctly circle shaped and reflected on the water. Shalespots was right. It did appear to be the moon. She could only think of one explanation.
"They must be telling us the time. The red wave will happen on the full moon." She said before becoming silent. If the water really was going to change on the full moon, that left the clan with only a couple of sunrises to prepare. How they should prepare was completely unknown to the leader. Never in the history of Shoreclan has this ever happened. She couldn't even guess how it would effect the clan or the prey. Her tail twitched. This was not a comfortable place for the leader to be in.

(I also have Ivysea and her kits open, if anyone wants to rp with them!) Batflight He could see the shame that flamed through his apprentice, and he couldn’t help but think: good. Batflight had felt a sense of annoyance watching his apprentice’s sloppy hunting, if one could call it that. He shook his head and continued to quietly follow his apprentice. When he saw Sealpaw hunt down and catch a seagull, he could not help but feel a sense of pride. Finally! The young apprentice was starting to pick things up. Even if the bird was already hurt, Sealpaw had done well, and was clearly showing improvement. Realizing that the young apprentice would be making his way back to the stick, Batflight flattened himself so that Sealpaw wouldn’t see him before going hunting for his own seagull. The bird of his choice was stupidly pecking at the ground, it had hardly realized it was being hunted until it was too late. Satisfaction flowed through him as he held the bird in his mouth, and walked back towards the stick. He could see his apprentice looking around for him as he slowly approached. “Well,” he meowed, “I suppose you can hunt birds if I force you to put your mind to it.”

{ i'm so sorry for my prolonged disappearance )': I was sick for a while and then the past few days i've been pretty much at work all day, but now I'll start having more time on my hands c: } O r c a p a w Shoreclan | Forest | Alone Orcapaw slipped into the forest, weaving in between the trees with grace. The air tasted distinctly different here; The scent of forest animals was strong, and the trees purified the air. With a smile, she took a big breath in with her mouth open. It was almost like when she took a breath after breathing the musky air from the den all night long. Her preference for this air may have to do with her heritage, and suddenly she felt the strong urge to taste a forest creature. She'd never tried one before, always in favor for a fish, but after tasting the air she regretted that decision. Slinking forward, she sighed. Her mentor hadn't trained her to hunt in the forest yet. What hope did she have to catch a forest animal? Probably not much, she assumed. She didn't know much about mice, vole, or squirrel behavior. She crept forward, keeping her paws as light as possible. Listening for the slightest sound, as she hadn't been taught how to pinpoint prey based off of scent, she closed her eyes to focus on the sounds. Hearing tiny paw steps just up ahead, she softly moved forward.

plagυe docтor no problem! I don't have anyone but Crabpaw open right now. We can still rp with the two of them if you want. However, your character could bump into Jekyll 's character, Ninx. He is a loner living at the edge of the forest. Or she could bump onto Ottersplash in the forest. ) sɴᴏᴏᴢɪɴɢғᴇʟɪɴᴇ🌸 No problem! Thanks for the heads up. Good luck on your thesis! ) Sealpaw's ears twitched for a brief second. He didn't understand his mentor. One minute, the tom was announcing a fun challenge, then he said upsetting things. The bird should have impressed the land prey-loving tom, right? It wasn't a very impressive bird but it was something. Certainly more than he thought he would catch today. He didn't understand his mentor's underhand criticism. For some strange reason, those words only fueled the tom's desire to prove himself to the older tom. Sealpaw needed to earn Batflight's approval now. "Let's go to the water." He meowed as he brushed sand over his prey. Not a lot of predators came down to the beach. The bird would save with a little sand to cover its scent. He padded over to the ocean and breathed in the soft, salty scent. "What are we diving for?" He asked, looking back.

Batflight
Batflight watched his apprentice buried the bird and padded over to the water’s edge. He slowly approached Sealpaw’s side and sat down beside him. He sniffed the air, trying to guess how hard the waves might be. We won’t go far. Batflight decided to himself. Sealpaw was still young and wouldn’t be as strong of a swimmer as Batflight was. When he heard Sealpaw’s question, he sat thoughtfully for a moment before he meowed, “Oysters, but before we go in the water, do you remember the rules of what you need to do while diving?” Batflight knew that not many cats took the rules too seriously, as many Shore Clan cats felt that they were good swimmers; still Batflight wasn’t taking any chances and didn’t want to see his own apprentice drown. A few leaf-bares ago, he had watched his own father drown in the waters when the waves became too rough for any cat to help him. (I can create a character sheet for Batflight's father if you want me too!)

Panic struck the young toms eyes when Stormstar said that this would happen during the next full moon and he turned out to the sea to hide that from his former mentor. Sharp claws dug into the soft sand, soothing him for a few moments, helping him calm down as his mind raced a million miles a minute. He took a few deep breathes before nodding slowly. "I... ever since Twistedpath... I've been having dreams of blood too," He admitted quietly as he watched the waves.
As much as he loathed them he couldn't imagine the waters rejecting them. Their entire life revolved around the ocean and its life. They ate from it, they spoke to their ancestors through it, they learned to live because of it. Why would it betray them in such a horrible way? "Stormstar... if blood fills our beaches what will we do? It's our food supply... what if the blood goes to the freshwater we drink? We'll be dead before the next full moon," He rasped, fur too wet to be spiking up, but if it were dry his pelt would have been completely poofed out.

(Here’s an old post I don’t believe you responded to.) Thats good" Shrimpstrike mewed carefully, flicking her tail as she looked around the camp. How could some cats still be lazing about? It seemed crazy. Her apprentice could be a little wild and undisciplined, but she had a drive in her that made Shrimpstrike warm to the young cat. Shrimpstrike always felt free around the apprentice, though that was probably the last thing the young she-cat needed. She probably needed an adult, disciplined warrior that wasn't going to be going to the nursery in a few moons because of her own stupidity. There was a chance Shrimpstrike could be that mentor. "I was thinking about going to practice our deep water fishing together. I went out by myself, but its much easier with two cats. The waters a little rough today, but its nothing we can't handle." Shrimpstrike mewed, flicking her apprentices flank with her tail before turning towards the exit of the camp. Read more: wcrpforums.com/thread/55408/shoreclan-semi-advanced-clan?page=2#ixzz5CbfA5UT6

The young apprentice quickly hopped up onto her paws at the mentions of deep water fishing. "Aw you really think I can handle it?" She asked in amazement. Tempestpaw adored fishing! She simply loved the act of delving into the waves, sinking her teeth into a fish, and going back in for more like a hungry predator. The apprentice's eagerness was due to the fact that because she was so small and chubby she was never really allowed near the waves, her mother fearing that they would pull her under and take her away. In most circumstances Tempestpaw's father was the one who let her have fun, allowing the young apprentice to frequently watch his deep water hunts even allowing her to give the final bite when he would toss the fish back onto the sand. She watched as her mentor began for the exit of the camp. "Wait for me Shrimpstrike!" She called before bounding behind the warrior.

The tortoiseshell she cat mewed, running her tail down the apprentices flank. She usually was a bit more strict with the young cat, but the thought of leaving the young cat to go to the nursery made her want to be the best mentor ever. Starclan knows the young cat needed a bit of fun with her mother never letting her do anything. "I'll dive down and catch the first few fish, and then pass them to you. You'll have to swim to shore and stash them. Its a very important job." Shrimpstrike explained, her voice sliding into the monotone she used when she gave a speech. "If you can handle that, you can dive down and try to catch some yourself." Shimpstrike looked the small cat up and down, hoping she handled it. The apprentice at least seemed excited for the task at hand, but Shrimpstrike hoped she wasn't advancing too quickly for her. Sometimes it was hard for the pinkish she-cat to understand others. After all, she found deep water fishing easy enough. Her apprentice would be the same, wouldn't she?

(( Ooof a minor accident maybe??
The clan did find it quite odd for such a outgoing tom like Eelspark to court such a reserved she-cat like Coralfur, showering the she-cat with as many lavish gifts as he so possibly could. But even despite gifts like pearls, shells, and other objects the most precious gift Eelspark would give to Coralfur was a family. Tempestpaw describes her mother as claustrophobic, but in actuality Coralfur dotes on her children and only wants the best for them, being especially careful with the her youngest child Tempestpaw.
Tempestpaw nodded along, but was only partially listening. "You got it! Catch, stash, repeat!" She eagerly purred, rushing past her mentor and onto the shoreline, digging her claws into the moist sand beneath her. The wind was exceptionally strong today, causing the waves the crash onto the shore much more aggressively, spraying the young apprentice with the ocean's salt. "The waves are kinda choppy today.." She mewed.
((AN: I'm not claiming the names Eel or Coral they are just place holders!

(Sure that could be interesting!)
Shrimpstrike paused, looking out at the rogue waves. Part of her thought that they should start with an easier task, but she didn't want to back down. The clan had always been confused at her decision to court an ex rogue. They would probably think of her as weak if she ended up carrying his kits. She dug her claws into the wet sand, leaving groves in the golden surface.
"We won't go far." The she cat mewed, deciding to continue with the task despite her reservations. She could almost imagine Coralfur looking over her shoulder disapprovingly. She cared for her youngest child beyond mesure, and as Shrimpstike watched the young apprentice dance along with the rythm of the waves, she couldn't blame her. Still, things would be fine. She'd keep an eye out on her apprentice.
"Lets swim out" Shrimpstrike mewed, running towards the waves and propelling herself forward in a giant leap over them. She paddled out to waters that wern't drawn to the merciless shore, and called out to her apprentice. "We'll try to find some fish here. Watch me as I dive down."
Shrimpstrike propelled herself downwards, her ginger tail tip disapearing between the dark water. She didn't spy any fish, but spotted an oyster nestled in the sand. She pushed herself ever deeper, stirring up the water at the bottom as her paws hit it. She snatched up the oyster in her teeth, remarking on the other oysters nearby for her apprentice to grab. She pushed herself off the bottom in a cloud of redish mud, clawing her way to the surface to rejoin her apprentice. When her head broke the surface she handed off her catch to Tempestpaw. "Take that back to shore and then come back here." She ordered, looking out to the open ocean. She could see some dark clouds gathering, and realized they couldn't be out all that longer. Still, they would probably have time for Tempestpaw to grab an oyster herself.
