Crabpaw and Orcapaw at the beach Crabpaw wrinkled his nose. This she-cat was managing to get on his every nerve. How could she be so stubborn? All she had to do was admit there might have been a mistake on her part. Crabpaw had been minding his own business when He was attacked. He was the victim here. "What could you know anything more than me? You're basically a kit." He ignored the fact the apprentice was only a moon younger than him when he said this. He stood up. "Unlike you, I would like to feed my clanmates today," he flicked his tail towards her sand art, "not play in the sand." He told himself he was leaving to serve his clan rather than chat with the rude she-cat. Really, he was hoping to leave when he was still "winning".

sweetclover1, yup! I'm going to assign mentors tomorrow I think. I just wanted to wait a bit so I could have a larger pool of potential mentors. If you have a mentor in mind, please do tell me. I have everyone but Crab open. ^^ )

Orcapaw scowled at him behind his back as he left. “I’m hardly a moon older than you.” She meowed, almost spat, as he turned his back on her. “We’ll see who really feeds the clan today!” She hissed her challenged at him. She was gonna show him up. A bright idea popped in her head. Well, a bright idea in her mind. To others, they may argue it was less than smart. Despite being directly told not to, she was going to go fishing anyway. She wasn’t the best at hunting the little land animals she had to choose from. She couldn’t let him win. Plus, she loved to add a little risk to her life. With a stubborn “Hmph,” off she went towards the cove.

Crabpaw with Orcapaw at the beach Crabpaw stopped and closed his eyes when the she-cat spoke again. Don't look back, don't say anything, just go. She is not enough to waste sunlight on. He repeated in head. It was all in vain. When he heard the challenge, his head snapped back. He was expecting the other apprentice to be in the same spot. Instead, he found her near the water's edge. She wouldn't. He slowly turned around. While he didn't want to let her go, he also didn't want to get caught near the water. The penalty could be as harsh as no time near the water for moons, if the leader caught them. He wouldn't risk not becoming a warrior with his brother to save a fishbrain like Orcapaw. Still, he couldn't ignore this. He tried to tell himself she would just go to the water's edge. "Are you going to try to catch minnows?" He taunted, hoping to bring her back.

O r c a p a w Shoreclan | Beach | Crabpaw Orcapaw whipped her head back at his words. Rolling her eyes, she laughed sarcastically. "You wish!" She meowed, glaring at him. Orcapaw was one who didn't see the consequences of her actions. Obviously, there was a reason she wasn't allowed to go fishing by herself. It could be dangerous. But, all Orcapaw could think about was bringing more food to the clan than him. This was just how she was; All she cared about was now and not the future. "I'll feed twice as many clan mates as you with the fish I catch! Just you watch!" She meowed, turning her head around with her tail high. 'I'll show him! I'm not scared of any water!'

Stormstar with Shalespots in camp Stormstar cracked one eye open when she scented the young medicine cat. She opened both eyes when she saw his form leaving camp. While he was a fully fledged medicine cat, he couldn't hold his own against anything. The tom couldn't even swim against the currents. If a fox was wandering the beach, the lanky tom would be no match. The clan wouldn't have a medicine cat and not even a cat to replace the lost medicine cat. It was a liability the clan could not afford. Not after those dreams she has been having.
The cove's water turned a dark red. It was almost as if blood came with the waves. She didn't know what it meant. Sharks were uncommon in the cove, though not unheard of. Even then, she doubted the ancestors would bother warning them about a shark. The clan had always handled them without a prophecy. There was no need for a warning now. So, that left something unknown. Stormstar was not fond of not knowing anything. She had hopped the medicine cat would have come to her to help with the dreams. Then she wouldn't have needed to resort going to the young tom to ask about the dream. There was no use avoiding what needed to be done.
"Where are you going?" She asked the medicine cat as she approached the tom. There was no disapproval in her tone, but there was a natural roughness from both old age and past damage. Still, it was a tone that spoke of authority. She fell in to walk next to the tom, hoping to show she would follow the young cat whether he liked it or not.
(I'm saying he doesn't know about her eyes yet, just because she would likely put it off until the last minute.)
----
Crabpaw fighting Orcapaw at the beach He couldn't believe his eyes and ears. He knew the she-cat was rash with her words, but he didn't think she was foolish in her actions as well. Crabpaw surged forward when Orcapaw spoke again. He tried to block her path the best he could and glare the best he could. It didn't really work with his naturally round eyes. "You can't go into the water. Stormstar said no apprentice goes into the water without a warrior. You could get into serious trouble." He warned in a low tone. He looked around just to check if any clanmate might have seen Orcapaw. He was aware that he was no in the water, but it was barely covering his paws. She actually wanted to go out and fight the waves.

(Got it. Also poor Shalespots, even the leader doesn't think he can be alone xD )
Shalespots was walking slowly, hoping that no one would mind him, because they were probably all going and hunting... trying to get food for the clan. His stomach growled at the thought of digging into one of the fish that was no doubt on the fresh kill pile but he ignored that rumbling as he pushed on. He didn't need to waste time and eat when he had precious little time when he could be alone without stressing about the clan.
It didn't help that he'd been plagued by dark dreams not long after Twistedpaths death. It was nearly every night, the water had turned red with blood, it was sickening and Shalespots nearly woke up screaming every time. He'd nearly clawed poor Oatpaws face off when he woke up the medicine cat during a dream. He didn't know how to handle this but he hadn't thought about going to Stormstar about this. He just thought that the other was going through way too much to begin with and he didn't like the thought of putting even more on her.
He'd been so engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't see his leader until he heard her voice. He nearly jumped out of his skin as he turned around, fur poofing out in alarm, eyes widening in shock. "O-oh! Hi, Stormstar," The skittish tom greeted as he looked away for a few moments, looking almost guilty, before he nodded towards the beech. "I was going to go and collect some more seaweed. We're running a little low," Okay that was a total lie but he didn't want his leader to just think that he was lazy and going down to the most peaceful place on the planet just for fun. He thought that he had to be working 24/7 for them to actually think he's worthy... even if they were still constantly questioning his decisions considering his age. He wasn't even supposed to have his medicine cats name. It was given to him after Twistedpaths death so they'd have an official medicine cat.

O r c a p a w Shoreclan | Beach | Crabpaw Orcapaw rolled her eyes again. What did this tom take her for? "I know I could get in trouble." She huffed, not caring about how loud she was being. "I just wont get caught." She meowed, standing up straight as if she was a genius. I mean, how could she get in trouble if she didn't get caught? It seemed foolproof to her. Maybe she hadn't outgrown her kitish ways as much as she thought. "Seems a little hypocritical if you ask - or wait, are you gonna tattle on me?" She cut herself off, suddenly growing a hint of anger in her voice. She couldn't stand tattle-tales; Those were the only cats she truly couldn't stand. Her eyes grew a glare of their own as she looked at him. He was taller, and older, but she wouldn't back down from his stare. All she wanted was to fish - was it really that much of a problem? And why did he care? If anything, he'd be the one getting in trouble right now. Her paws weren't wet, his were. Plus, they'd hardly said a word to each other before. She wasn't sure why he seemed determined to stop her, but she didn't say anything. Even though he seemed pretty stubborn, the tom intrigued her a bit. She would never admit that to him, though.

(Starter for Shrimpstrike.)
Shrimpstrike growled as she came up again with no prey, the storm tossed wave throwing salt water into her eyes. She took a deep breath, taking in the heavy air into her lungs before diving down again. She dove as deep as she could, keeping her eyes on a distant school of fish. She grinned as she pulled herself closer and closer. The fish swam together, their hyponotic movements trying to confuse her. She kept true to her path however, kicking her back legs and scooping up the water with her front. She lashed out at the closest fish, sinking her claws into its silver scales. She bit into it a few moments after, filling her mouth with saltwater and scales. The fish thrashed in her grip, thwacking her in the face with its tail and head. Shrimpstike held firm, quickly swimming to the surface. She was running out of air. She finally burst to the suface, breathing through the corners of her mouth as she held the fish above the water. It continued its struggle, but eventually stopped.
Shrimpstrike make her way back to shore, happy with her catch. She usually would have went out with someone to hunt so she could hand the prey to them, but she had gone out by herself for a quick trip. She had wanted to think, and sometimes there was nothing like throwing yourself at the waves when you woke up feeling lost. She clambered her way onto the rocks, nearly slipping on the slick surface. She finally made it to dry land, and shook out her short fur. It was coated with salt, and would need to be groomed when she got back to camp. Still, maybe she could find someone to hunt with when she brought this fish back. Then she could just go back to swimming and clean herself up latter.

Using only the finest technology, I have discovered which mentors would best suit which apprentices. If you have any corrections, don't be afraid to ping or pm. Oatpaw is apprenticed by Rainwhisker Tempestpaw is apprenticed by Shirmpstrike (once she kits, Stormstar ) Orcapaw is apprenticed by Gullfeather Sealpaw is apprenticed by Batcreek Crabaw is apprenticed by Dolphincry
Despite my best attempts, I couldn't match many cats up in terms of relations without changing their age by a moon or two, so here is all I got. Foamlily could be mates with Batflight

Stormstar with Shalespots exiting camp Stormstar decided to pretend her old apprentice wasn't lying to her face and nodded. She would play along for now. The excuse would give a nice reason for the two of them to be alone. While she was sure Twistedpath did everything she could for her apprentice before she passed, Stormstar wasn't sure if he was told about her eyes. The diseased medicine cat just to have a stinging herb mix to put on Stormstar's eyes, and the leader, despite the pain, was missing the medicine. They would have to wait until they were out of camp before discussing the dream or eyes. Even then, Stormstar didn't know whether she would tell the tom about her condition.
"How are the kits and queens?" She asked instead. Even if it was to take up time as they walked away from camp, it wasn't a completely useless question. She had seen the kits running around and the queens practically glowing as they watched their kits, but she still didn't know for sure if everycat was completely healthy. Kelpkit did look a bit small and Shellkit was more skinny than she would have liked. Kits were the future of the clan and they would need everyone of them for the future. She didn't know what the red wave meant, but Stormstar was determined to be ready for it.
---
Crabpaw is shook on the beach with Orcapaw The apprentice couldn't believe what he was hearing. He didn't understand how or why a cat could ignore a direct instruction from Stormstar. The leader's words were law. It wasn't a hard part of the code to understand. At this rate, they would both be in trouble and he had to clue how to stop. Her next statement gave him an idea. "Yes. If you mean tell your mentor and Stormstar about you fishing by tattling, then yes." He nodded as if confirming what he had just told her. He walked out of the water and towards the direction of camp. He stopped a foxlength away and looked back.

jayswing Want to rp Batflight and Sealpaw? )
Stormstar frowned. It was mid-Greenleaf. The kits and queens should be fat on fish and shellfish. It didn't help both of the queens were naturally small. Thankfully, the oldest set of kittens should be able to start eating freshkill. She would have to make a request to the queens later to make sure to pick the shellfish from the pile for themselves and their kits. That would fatten them up in no time. She didn't say any of this to Shalespots. It wasn't a medicine cat's job to fetch prey. Not like he could really do much of a job of it. It was good he decided to go become a medicine cat. She always had a suspicion the tom was not meant for the warrior life.
"Are any of the kits showing promise in the medicine cat path?" The leader asked. The leader had meant to visit the kits again to introduce herself. She knew the kits probably knew who she was, but it was nice to formally establish these things. More importantly, she wanted to spend some time to get to know the kits, or just speak with the queen. She would need think about assigning mentors soon and she wouldn't do that blindly. Blindly like how she was suppose to choose a deputy. This one would most likely succeed her. The clan wasn't ready for her to leave yet, not for many moons.

(She could meet her back at camp)
Shrimpstrike padded back to camp, the fish in her mouth. She was filled with more pride than she usually was. She could still be a great warrior for a little bit longer, even if she might be having kits. She wasn't feeling as sick as she had yesterday, maybe it was just a brief sickness. Shrimpstrike didn't know what to feel about having kits, so she didn't think about it. She wanted kits, but everytime she thought about having them anxiety clawed at her throat like the claws of a rogue. They would be so small, and what if they took after their non-shoreclan father?
She shook her head, dissipating those thoughts. She entered the camp, catching sight of her apprentice, Tempestpaw. She dropped the fish in the fresh kill pile, walking over to the chubby she-cat.
"Are you ready for our hunting training today, Tempestpaw." Shrimpstrike mewed with her characteristic stiffness. She didn't mean to come of as standoffish, but sometimes she did.

| Tempestpaw & Shrimpstrike | Camp | The small chubby apprentice was currently grooming her short dark fur, catching hints of salt from the ocean air with each swipe of her tongue. Tempestpaw was happy to live so close to the sea in a sense it calmed the rowdy apprentice in a way that not many cats knew how. Even before she was allowed to leave camp her father would frequently take her to the shoreline to chase crabs, thus she deemed her dad the "Coolest cat in the clan." She loved that her dad wasn't stuffy like the other warriors in the clan always talking about boring things, like the ocean fading away or other things she deemed dumb. He was really the only one that could calm the righteous storm that Tempestpaw was named after. The apprentice's grooming was halted by the call of her name, looking up with wide eyes to see who was speaking to her. "Oh hey there, Shrimpstrike!" She greeted happily. The fact that Shrimpstrike was assigned as her mentor was a bit odd to Tempestpaw, perhaps it was Stormstar trying to get someone to calm her down and actually whip her into shape to be a fitting warrior? Who knows, but even if her mentor was a bit strict sometimes the two still found a way to work together and get things done. "Ready as I'll ever be." She answered.

Sealpaw in camp for jayswing Sealpaw laid on his belly with his paws stretched out in front of him. He kneaded the sand in front of him was the warm rays of sun warmed his back. A slow purr rumbled in him. He knew he should be training, or helping someone, but he really didn't know were to start or what to do. His mentor could not be found and neither could his family. Without them, he was a little lost on what to do. So, he tried his best to stay out of the way. If he was telling the truth, he also wasn't making a real effort to go out and do something. The sun was a perfect temperature. He was content to watch all the cats in camp.

"Thats good" Shrimpstrike mewed carefully, flicking her tail as she looked around the camp. How could some cats still be lazing about? It seemed crazy. Her apprentice could be a little wild and undisciplined, but she had a drive in her that made Shrimpstrike warm to the young cat. Shrimpstrike always felt free around the apprentice, though that was probably the last thing the young she-cat needed. She probably needed an adult, disciplined warrior that wasn't going to be going to the nursery in a few moons because of her own stupidity. There was a chance Shrimpstrike could be that mentor. "I was thinking about going to practice our deep water fishing together. I went out by myself, but its much easier with two cats. The waters a little rough today, but its nothing we can't handle." Shrimpstrike mewed, flicking her apprentices flank with her tail before turning towards the exit of the camp.
