(Yeah that might be better. They should be someplace quiet and then maybe they get like a call to go to the same crime scene?)

(Yup. Officer Fisher, certified party animal.)
The music was too loud. The lights were too bright. And someone was doing something illegal not two feet away. Cody could smell it. Literally.
He hadn't been clubbing since college and that was in another city, but Fisher didn't know Kate well enough to know what she liked. Besides, alcohol could make anything fun, right? Oddly enough he wasn't so bad a dancer. It was just a matter of being far enough out of his mind to get on the floor, and he wasn't there quite yet. Besides, Cody always got a call when he couldn't take it. Even when he wasn't at work he was at work.
"So this is where all the cool kids go," he shouted over the pounding bass, "I guess it makes sense that I've never been here until now. By the way, you look great."

{Kate... I guess, she's sort of one, if you get her out enough.}
Kate hadn't been to a club in probably nearly a year or two. She was actually a pretty good dancer, having taken ballet as a young girl then again one quarter during college. Being a year ago after graduation, she got a job at a lab, worked there for two months, then boom coma for two months then woke up and here she was months after that. "I can tell... I usually tried my best to avoid the cool kids, when I was younger." She stated, yelling, making sure her cell phone was up all the way to hear it if it went off. "Oh ah thanks. You don't look too bad yourself."

"Please, when I was younger, I was the cool kid," Fisher scoffed. "If braces and sweater vests were cool." He looked around at the mass of people jumping up and down to the beat and wanted to have fun along with them—but Cody couldn't get his mind off all the crime taking place right under his nose. He wanted to have fun tonight. It was painful to watch, though. "Do you know how many arrests I could milk from the people standing three feet away from us?" Cody, curious, started counting. "Fifteen!"

"I wasn't quite there, I was the quiet girl who wasn't popular nor a nerd, closer to nerd though. I could only guess that." Kate stated. "Do you want something to drink?" She asked, they weren't even dancing and she was warm in her leather jacket and jeans, the same outfit she was wearing from earlier in the day. She slid the jacket off, revealing a burgundy red velvet top in an almost halter top, but it revealed a large cut out in the back, but it didn't reveal too much. In fact, in the front it covered her all of her, but on closer examination, it was a cut out design with part of it being see through. In short it definitely left a lot to the imagination, with it being a more flowy top. Despite the top, Kate was probably one of the most covered girls there, as she was wears jeans. But those jeans did fit her well.
{I own this shirt in real life, I could find a pic online if you'd like to see it. It's probably my favorite shirt now.}

(Dude, yeah. I want one now, haha)
"I don't know. I'm kind of on call, so..." Cody replied, almost nervously. "But root beer doesn't sound bad, I won't lie. I'll go with you." The thought of being left alone in a place where everyone else had a date or a friend was a little too nerve wracking, but he was probably coming across as a lost puppy now. Oh well. Kate had to know by now. As they started walking, he offered, "I can hold your jacket, if you want. Kinda hot in here."

{So, I'm too lazy to go find it, but I found it online, but could only find the top so... s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/91/82/17/918217bd46561732591302fe978a733f.jpgIt's not me. What next?} "Ah. I'm fine thanks." Kate stated. She was confident in herself, but not overly so, which kind of happened when she had her gear on as Breakneck. She walked over to the bar and with a few minutes, she had two drinks in her hand, handing one to Fisher. She sighed, anymore, she was the type of girl to go for something that had a bit of class, unless she wanted to just outright go to a bar, which she did once in a blue moon. But now that alcohol did not affect her, she just tended to shy away from drinking it.

(I have an idea)
Right as Kate got back, Fisher was ending a phone call, but he still took the drink from her. "Uh, so this is funny. I just got a call about a hostage situation, so I have to go. Surprised you didn't get the call first." He tossed her a wink, looked sadly at the glass in his hand, and set it down on the counter. "We'll have to do this some other time. Sorry about this. Really."
(So what if they go deal with the hostage situation and Fisher does something that makes him trustworthy to Kate?)

{Um sure.... So where to next then? What do you think about the shirt?}
"It's fine. I completely understand, being a hero, it seems, you never get a day off." Kate shrugged it off, taking a sip of her pop, and then quickly finished it off as she checked her phone. She slid her jacket on and started out of the door. "Might see you around." She called.

{Yea. but I doubt that's going to happen. I mean the only possibility, is if we both somehow made it to a convention, I'd probably be wearing my DS9 or TNG costume and my hair and makeup done like Jadiza, because I kind of look like her, with all of that.

Fisher was going out of his mind.
People would not stop asking questions. He just needed some time to think. He had a plan not two minutes ago and now, for the life of him, couldn't remember what it was. Eventually, Fisher got tired of listening to twenty people talk at the same time and shouted, "All right! Everyone listen up! We're gonna call over there, see what they want, and then pretend to give it to them. Sound like a plan?"
"That's always your plan for these things," Frankie smirked, handing him the phone. "Here's the number."
They'd set up shop in a law firm, of all things, across the street from the hostages and their captors. Snipers on the roof, snipers on the ground, and would-be snipers handing him phones when they really should have been outside. Poor Frankie.

Meanwhile, Kate was hunkering down at her base with Carter. They were watching CCTV live feed, along with listen into the police and new chatter. "Wonder if I need to jump. Probably would be useful to bring some rope to tie down the captors." She sighed, eyes glued to the newsfeed.
"Give it five Kate." Carter stated, working on a lollypop. "Definitely, I can't count how many times you've could of used some rope. Also or until it escalates. You can be there in..." He took a moment to calculate the timing. " About thirty seconds, sooner if you some how are faster than last time.

"Hello?" greeted a smooth-as-glass-voice on the line's opposite end. "Am I speaking with a hero?"
"No," Fisher replied, stifling the urge to tell him yes. "Just me. My name's Cody."
"Let me guess--you're a cop."
"You would not be wrong. What can I do for you today?" Fisher asked, almost sounding like customer service.
"I need a hero," said the voice. "I need to talk to one. I need to see one. And if they do what I tell them all ten of these people go free."
Cody mouthed "ten" to the other officers, and three scrambled to write it down. "Okay, I can get one here, if you let one person go, Mr...?"
"Lynx."
"Thanks, Lynx, I'll get to work on that. You're gonna talk to Frankie now, okay? I gotta go take care of this." He motioned her to the phone and stood from his spot at the counter. When Frankie started talking, he heaved a sigh and looked to the floor. "How are we gonna get one here?"

"Have any clue of what's going on?" Kate asked.
"Mh... nope. No clue, unless you can read minds. Oh, I got a idea for a game. Let's play horrendously bad, but funny lip reading!" Carter smiled, quite pleased with himself at that one.
Kate rolled her eye. "Come on sober up, this isn't a time to be joking around. Bring up the schematics for this particular building."
"Aye aye Miss sourpuss." Carter sighed, fake saluting her. He brought up the schematics on one of the blank TV screen.
Kate rolled her eyes again, starting to form a game plan, in the worst case scenario. She kept an eye out on the news.

After a moment of pacing in silence and watching one hostage come down the front steps, Fisher remembered the "panic button." Why superheroes couldn't just show up when they were actually needed was beyond him, but he really hoped this was going to work. Hesitating for a moment, he pressed it, and then waited. He wouldn't send anyone in the building if he thought it would put them in danger, but someone was bound to do something impulsive—Crosswind, Breakneck, Adriana—none of them were predictable or mild-mannered. Sometimes they were harder to talk to than the terrorists.

"Heyo! It seems your buddy needs some help. It seems like he's with the hostage situation. Off you go. I'll guide you there." Carter stated once he had scooted across the area in his rolling chair going from one computer to another.
"On it." Kate called, in less than a second she had her gear on, and who just happened to forget the rope as she whooshed out the door. About thirty seconds after Fisher pressed the button, Breakneck appeared. "What's going on? How many in there? I've been watching the news." She stated, vibrating her voice, making it slightly different and slightly lower.
"Paper weights." Carter sighed, watching paper fly about.

"Ten. And they don't want to talk to me." Cody took hold of Breakneck's wrist, not thinking anything of it, and dragged her to the centre of operations. "They want a hero." Letting go of her, he turned to the other officers. There were two others with "SWAT" written across their backs and chests in the room, and the others were part of teams alpha, bravo, and Charlie. Fisher had to admit it: he had the boring job. "Guys, this is Breakneck. She's gonna help us out."
"How'd you do that? Wave your hand and you've got a hero?" the other SWAT officer asked, brow furrowed. "I'd almost think you was magic, Fisher."
"Yeah, uh, I'm not. Here's the deal, Breakneck, I don't know what they want. We're gonna find out, but it could be dangerous. If you're not comfortable, I understand. And honestly I'd be more than happy to throw Crosswind under the bus."

"Long story, I was looking at the plans of the building. I sort of already have a plan brewing. I'm fine, I don't trust Crosswind so much as to throw a stick." Breakneck stated, grumbling. "How long have they been up there? Number of captives? Hostages? If there's a small enough group of captors, I can just rush in and get them before they know what hit them. I can even bring them down here, but if there's more than two them, I can disarm them before they shoot and tie them up for you guys." She stated, looking around at the teams. "That is, providing that they don't have any little 'treats' for me." She added.

"No, no, no, no, no." Fisher said it at least ten more times before he made eye contact with Breakneck again. "We need a delicate hand. We can't dive headfirst into anything, understand?" He motioned to Frankie, who handed the phone back to Cody. "You're gonna talk to the guy and I'm gonna listen. Then we'll decide if rushing in is the best thing to do." He held the phone out to Breakneck, grey eyes determined, although a little unsure.
"Hello? Hero, are you there?"

"I'm still new on the block, won't know me. By working with you guys, people will know about me." Breakneck stated, taking a moment before taking the receiver. "Hello? I hear you've been needing to talk to a hero." She stated, upping the distorting on her voice, it was wasn't creepy per say, but it was a little weird.

"I don't know you," said the voice, breaking into a chuckle. "It doesn't matter. So many new heroes popping up all over the place. Like weeds. You can have too much of a good thing. This place is an absolute mess, and that's where I come in. I want to clean it up, one hero at a time. So I need an identity. Doesn't even have to be yours. Just one name, of one hero, and all the hostages go free. What do you think?"
(Shoot Fisher still needs to do something that makes him trustworthy)

Kate's face just drooped, slowly the phone droop down away from her face. No way.. No way was she going to do that. She was soo new in town, she couldn't even do that. Her mouth opened and closed like a fish because she was in shock. She looked at Fisher and his colleagues, complete and utter shock covered her what facial features her cowl didn't cover, which wasn't a lot. Though mainly Fisher, 'I can't do that.' She mouthed to him.
"Hey Break, you doin' ok? You haven't moved, and I can tell you're on the phone, did you have to give up the name of a hero to let the hostages go?" Carter asked, comn in her ear. "Come on Bre, talk to me." He stated nervously.
{Yup.}
