(Yeah I'm not gonna lie today has been kind of insane)
There was no one to save by the time the police got there, along with the other heroes and all of the city's fire department. The burning building was, oddly enough, the safest place to be at the time.
Fisher and his partner arrived at the scene too late, like everyone else. The only thing left to do was start securing it and start arguing with the city's most obnoxious, pigheaded superhero: Crosswind. He always came out of nowhere and then claimed he'd been there first. Law enforcement and the heroes had a sort of unspoken code, but Crosswind had ways of getting around it.
"Get outta here, Fisher. Everything's under control. We don't need you," Crosswind assured him, strutting down the deserted street in his red, white, and blue getup. "Go home. Eat a donut. There's nothing for you to do here."
"Are you sure?" the officer asked, arms folded. "'Cause whatever there is for you to do, it seems like you're standing around not doing it."
"Dude, nice," his partner, Frankie, laughed.
"Thanks," Fisher replied, high-fiving her.
(Maybe all three could run into Adriana or one of her team?)

{No, it's fine. I just got some really bad news...}
Adriana got out of the long before she saw the colors, of course looking beyond from a corner, the corner nearest to her cop buddy, Fisher.
Breakneck sighed, watching the fire and what seemed to be an argument start. She sighed, she ran down the side of the build. She figured out that if she spun her arms fast enough, she could put out fires, so long as they didn't get to be too big. This was at the larger scope of what she could put out. Less than second later, she started her work, taking the oxygen out of the air, thereby choking the fire. She let out some intense groans from having to work so hard. But soon enough the fire was out, in conjunction with the water from the fire hoes. Turning to the blue, red and white so-called hero, "It's not like I saw you checking to see if you could pull anyone out." She stated, her cowl still and hiding the most of her facial features.

(What's wrong? Are you okay?) "Well, of course not. Every time I try to help, Fisher here gets in my way. This is none of your business," Crosswind retorted, so oblivious to the situation he didn't notice as Fisher retrieved a fire extinguisher from the car. It wouldn't do much to quench the flames, but at least he could say he was doing more than the heroes were, standing around on the street. "Who are you, anyway? You think you have what it takes to survive in this city?" Crosswind scoffed. "Yeah. That's funny." "Hey, Crosswind, don't you have—I don't know—powers that could put this entire building out?" Fisher called over the roar of the flames. Two-year-olds. He was surrounded by a bunch of two-year-olds.

{I got rejected by the college I was 90% I would going on to. I was banking on it. Mind you, I still have two real options, one is to finish up my AA degree at the community college I'm going to, since I'm a high school senior who is earning college credit and finishing up high school, my other option is to go to a college half a country away in Arizona that I really am not fond of, but it's got what I want. If I go a year there, I may be able to weasel my way into and transfer to the university that rejected me in the first place. Either way I could end up transferring. But I'm still waiting to hear back from a university that I'm 99% that I didn't get into because it's top of the line.... No doubt my spring break will be filled with tears and a side order of depression, and a forced trip to Seattle(which I was looking forward to, but I now regret). }
"Emhm... Yea right. At least the flames are out now due to my help. Nice one Officer, don't hear the cops pull a fast one too often. And Crosswind? You call that a name? My friend does so much better at naming the villains. I was hoping to find my other friend, but it seems she hides still." Breakneck sighed.

"Crosswind is a great name, thank you, and I'm not a villain. Those freaks who got here first probably set the explosion off. THAT's a villain for you," the "superhero" argued, though from where he stood lazily on the sidewalk, he could have passed for a villain.
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?" Frankie snapped, pouting at Breakneck. She was about four feet tall with blond hair that, when it wasn't pulled back, came down to get back. But that didn't stop her from scaring Fisher almost every day they worked together—and she was a subordinate.
"A passing insult disguised as a compliment. Don't worry 'bout it, Franks." Fisher looked from Crosswind and back to Breakneck, one hand on his belt. "What's your friend's name? Can you give me an idea of what she looks like?"
(Ugghhhh rejection letters. I know how that goes. If you want my opinion? I would go to uni in AZ. IF you only have to do a year there. Maybe you'll like it. Maybe you won't have to transfer.
And I hope the vacation is ok for you...they're no fun when you're not feeling well)

{It's just so far away, I haven't seen the campus, and Arizona just isn't place I see myself ending up in, it's so dry... We're going over to Seattle for the weekend and that's where the University I wanted to go denied me. Seattle's sort of a second home city...}
Breakneck just shrugged off at Crosswind's comment. "The other part of my team, Engima, more recently known as Crystalborn?" She asked. "I think we may be at a point, where we could probably completely control her evil half, while still allowing her to use her powers for good. We haven't seen her since her disappearance. We've only seen one sign, and that may have not even been her..."

(I hope everything works out for you. If it doesn't, you're super smart. You can do anything)
"Why does that sound so familiar...?" Fisher couldn't remember what he'd eaten last night, let alone all the details of an encounter with a girl who practically spoke in tongues. He rubbed his temples as though it would help the information come back to him. And it seemed to work. Snapping his fingers, he pointed at Breakneck. "I know. I talked to her last week. She mentioned something about you guys, but honestly, I just assumed she—" he almost said "crazy," but instead bit his tongue and spit out "—I assumed she needed some serious help. And then she ran off."

{Eh... I don't know what to do now.}
"Give me a mo. " Breakneck stated, turning her back and put a hand on her ear to activate her comn. "Car, we may have a sighting, getting more info and I will get back to you." She stated softly, turning back to the officers. "Wait you saw her?" She asked, shaking her head and rubbed her face. "I know she seems crazy... No, that when we got those odd readings. What part of town did you see her in? She does need help, but we're on the verge of a major breakthrough."

(what's your major?)
"Red light district. Ugly part of town. Somebody blew up a building. At first I thought Crosswind did it, but then Adriana—Crystalborn, whatever—practically confessed to it. But I watched her take down like five guys before backup even got in the car, so I figured it would probably be better to let her alone."
"Man, you always get the cool stuff," Frankie snapped, punching her colleague.
"You were on patrol! I had to sit and watch a pile of rubble!"
"Yeah, but come on, the most exciting thing I got last night was some chick walking in the middle of the road. Lame."

{I'm looking at STEM, probably Aerospace Engineering or Astronomy.}
"No... No... You did not just tell me she fought." Breakneck sighed, rubbing her face. For a moment, lightening flickered around her irises. She paced for a moment. "Did she take off the necklace and use her powers?" She asked, in a slightly demanding manner, taking a step towards the officer that spoke.

"You know what else I told you? She took down five guys. Yeah, she used her powers. What's the big deal? That's kind of the point of being superhero. Man, my job would be so easy if I had powers..." Fisher frowned. For any normal person, the events of last week would have stuck with him for life, but he had seen so much weird crap on this job...Cody never wanted to get to a point where he could talk about somebody throwing up on him comfortably, but there he was. Happened to every officer at least once a year. Extra points if he'd shined his boots just beforehand. And that usually wasn't even the worst part. (If you want, I could give you the names of a couple colleges I know of with good programs in that field. That aren't in the desert. )

{I've did a bit of research, what have you got? It's probably too late for me to apply.}
"No... No..." Breakneck rubbed her face. "You don't get it. Every time she takes that necklace off and uses her power, that gives her alter-ego a high chance of coming out in full force and completely taking control, for good. And then we'd have an outright villain on our hands, just like when Crystalborn first made an appearance and we saw it coming too late to help Enigma out from becoming Crystalborn. The only thing that is protecting my friend from her other half is a pair of cuffs and a blue diamond-like crystal necklace which are designed to keep people with powers from using them." She sighed, bringing a hand to her ear. "Car, that was her. And she took the dang necklace off to use her powers, but it seems like she had enough control to not kill nor did she not put the necklace back on. Which is a good thing." She stated, her attention back to the cops.

She stated, her attention back to the cops. (Brigham Young University has a REALLY good curriculum and tuition is pretty cheap. You don't have to be LDS to apply and the living standards are really clean. There's a lot of housing on campus and just off it. A lot of people have cars but everything is within walking distance. And then there's BYU Idaho, which has a ton of on-campus housing and the campus is in one compact spot. It does get a little chilly there in the winter, but better than sweating 12 months out of the year. Colorado School of Mines contacted me but I changed my major (it used to be engineering). They have cheap tuition and great programs, not just for miners. Literally my only requirement for colleges is that they have some sort of aviation course, and they didn't, or I would probably go there. Case Western University I don't know as much about, but they sent me like two letters and looked like a good school. Their tuition is very inexpensive. Aaaaannnddd last but not least we have SUU which has literally any major you could ever want. Plus it's in a beautiful spot. Not to mention low tuition. 👌) "Yeah, you're damn right I don't understand. All you heroes are nut cases," Fisher told her, then took a deep breath. "I'll help you find her. She said we could talk when I ran into her." "Captain, are you crazy? This chick sounds dangerous. You can't just walk up and start talking to her," Frankie almost scolded, grabbing his sleeve. "You have a death wish or something?" "I just walked up and started talking to her the other day. I'm still standing," the officer shrugged. "You all need to take a chill pill and quit telling me what to do."

"At our core, we all have something that went wrong with us. That's why we're out here. Using what we've been given to make a different." Breakneck stated. "In mine and Enigma's case, we got caught in a massive accident at our place of work. As long as Enigma keeps her necklace or metahuman cuffs on, she's fine. Crystalborn is at bay." She sighed.

"Listen, Broken-neck, I'd be happy to give you a call or a shout or whatever gets you guys to the crime scene. Still haven't been able to figure out exactly what it is. Can I send you a text? A text might be better," the officer said, pulling out his phone and handing it over. "Are you really doing this? Are you really helping them find her?" Frankie asked. "I'm a cop. We're supposed to help people. I'm helping people." Looking back at Breakneck, he added with a smirk, "Even heroes need heroes." "Dude, you're on a roll." The officers high-fived each other.

Breakneck rolled her eyes. "It's Breakneck. Why I let my friend talk me into that I have no clue. Flash is so much better... That aside. You really think I would just hand over my number? You seem to think I'm this all the time, which I'm not." She sighed. "Give me five seconds." With that she disappeared in a whistle of wind and lightening. About a minute later, she came back hold an object. "Here take this. Any time you want to talk or need help, press it and it will tell me your location and only then. Oh also, if you try and back traced it, don't even try. Trust me, my tech already ensured that the signal can't be backtracked. Please make sure you press it in an unoccupied place. And I wouldn't mind have a buddy on the force to help me take down some of the normal human criminals." A slight smile escaped her lips at that.

If you do need help with anything, just ask for Cody, 'kay? Good guys gotta stick together." He slapped Breakneck's shoulder and started heading for the car. "Nice chatting with you.
