Emendr looked over the course quickly, trying to assess what it was they wanted him to do. From here he could see several zigzagging passages, so agility... Further on it looked like there was a water wheel. Timing, maybe? He couldn't see beyond the wheel. A short tap on the back to push him forward made him take a careful step forward, trying to feel the water with one foot. It was cold. Really cold, like they'd just melted it down from ice. If he wasn't quick, he could have problems staying awake. He looked back at the scientists, a little nervous. They knew he couldn't take the cold for long, right? One of the scientist made a shooing motion to hurry him along. Well, they seemed sure it was safe. He took a deep breath and moved forward, submerging. It didn't impact his speed too badly at first. He was able to make almost all of the sharp turns, though the cold started to get to him and he ended up bumping his shoulder on the last corner out of the obstacle. That still left the wheel, and whatever might be past it. Well, he didn't have time to worry about that. He needed to clear this part and tackle that after, before he got too cold or ran out of air.
He gave the wheel only a second of observation before matching himself to the tiers as best he could before he darted forward and squeezed under. The motion of the wheel let him pass through, though it was a tight fit. He was lucky to not get stuck at any point. No use dwelling on it, he had to look ahead now. On this side, the surface of the watered appeared to be coated with a clear, smooth material. It was sort of hard to see, but more importantly, he couldn't find any place where he needed to go after. The cold of the water was begining to take effect more quickly as he found his vision a little blurry and his limbs were subconsciously retracting closer to his body. Where was the exit? Did he have to go back? No... that didn't seem possible with the wheel... He began swimming forward, searching the glassy surface for a way out. He could see the scientists had gathered at the end. Was it over there? They didn't seem clustered together to provide any hints. Was he supposed to break the surface? He reached up with one hand, pushing on the surface lightly to see if it might give way. No... He needed a way out soon. It was getting difficult to feel his fingers and toes. He continued pushing himself to swim toward the end of the course until he spotted a slight seam in the surface, accompanied by what looked like a hinge.
That had to be the way out. He swam upward, pushing. It shifted slightly before giving way. He poked his head up first, releasing his breath and taking another of comparatively warm air. He reached out, trying to get a grip on the strange surface, but his fingers were too wet to keep hold easily. He sunk back into the water a bit before swimming up to gain some momentum and forcing himself further out of the narrow escape. He could hear the scientists talking about minutes and seconds, but he didn't pay much attention. His hands were still numb and the rest of him was still cold too. For now, he curled himself up on the surface to try to retain what heat he had left, waiting for them to be done and to lead him out of here.

Aarow looked back at Eve before pointing to the rocks ahead. "I think I can surprise them and get the skin. They'll chase, so be ready to run. If you can hang back and stay out of sight, they shouldn't even know you're here. I'm going to go toward the water. Hopefully they won't follow me too far. It's cold enough no one should try to stay in there too long. I can take the long way out and meet you back toward the car." He explained in a hushed voice. He kept moving, trying to keep pace with the strangers so he could time the jump well. He might even be able to knock some of them over to give himself more time. He couldn't really tell Eve what to do, so if she waited to hang back or follow or meet him at the water, that would have to be up to her.
